Zachary Quinto Talks Wolf and Josh’s Kiss, Carol in Flashforward (Exclusive)

by jummy84 September 30, 2025
written by jummy84

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 2 “The Contestant.”]

It has not been an easy start to the season for Dr. Oliver Wolf (Zachary Quinto) on Brilliant Minds. First, his father Noah leaves with just a letter (after Wolf avoided him, despite the other man living in his house). Now, his mother, Muriel (Donna Murphy), has stepped down as CMO of the hospital and will just be his mother. Then there’s the complicated relationship with Josh (Teddy Sears) — the two are trying to just be friends — and the fact that Wolf will be a patient at Hudson Oaks’ psychiatric facility in six months.

First, Quinto is quick to assure us that Murphy isn’t going anywhere, though the show has lost the mother and son working together. “We spent so much of the first season watching Wolf deal with his trauma that originated in his family, his primary family of origin. I think Michael [Grassi, showrunner] wanted to open up some new storytelling landscape for Wolf,” Quinto explains in the video interview above. “And so I think that the vacuum that Muriel’s absence creates at the hospital will be a very interesting thing to chart and to navigate. I also think that it gives space and room for Wolf to become his own doctor in a way that working with his mom always had him maybe up against some degree of expectation that he’s no longer beholden to.”

Pief Weyman/NBC

He also reveals that the line about him looking forward to her being his mom and not his boss was something that they came up with on the day of shooting that scene. “I felt like it was something that Wolf needed to say and that it is nice to consider exploring their relationship from a different angle and not from the angle of Muriel having to be the messenger of the hospital mandates,” he says.

Elsewhere in the episode, Wolf invites Josh out for drinks and kisses him in what Quinto says was “an impulsive, vulnerable moment.” He also says that Josh was right to stop him because it was, in part, an attempt at a distraction from the fact that his father left.

He continues, “I don’t think Wolf is particularly comfortable in his own vulnerability. I think he’s able to show up for other people and their vulnerabilities when he is dealing with his patients. But I think in that moment, he felt like Josh showed up for him, supported him, and he wanted to connect on a level that allowed him to put things behind him that he didn’t want to really look at. And I think rightfully so, Josh interrupts that moment and says, ‘I can’t be a part of your distraction. I can be a part of your support system, but I can’t be a part of your distraction.’ And so I think it’s an attempt for Wolf to avoid looking at the magnitude of the impact that Noah’s return and then immediate disappearance or relatively immediate disappearance has had on his emotional and mental wellbeing.”

Wolf also understands why Josh hit pause on them. “He respects Josh’s boundaries. I think he has to understand that he wasn’t behaving in a way that was particularly respectful or particularly generous toward Josh at the end of the first season, according to Quinto. “I think he realizes that Josh deserves better and maybe in time Wolf will be able to provide that for him, but maybe not.”

In the Season 1 finale, Josh told Wolf he was falling for him. Wolf didn’t respond in kind. Grassi then told us he would in his own unique way. What might that look like?

“I think he finds different ways to communicate the way he’s feeling to Josh throughout the course of the second season,” teases Quinto. “I think part of what he’s learning is how to be present with his feelings and communicate them in real time. I think he’s somebody who’s lived a lot of his life not doing that —compartmentalizing and intellectualizing and processing in different ways. I think one of the catalysts that Josh is for Wolf is to kind of just be more present and be more comfortable in his own vulnerability.”

This episode ends with another flashforward, and in this one, Carol is by Wolf’s side, telling him it’s for the best, as he signs himself into Hudson Oaks, the psychiatric facility run by Amelia (Bellamy Young).

“I think there’s no one that Wolf trusts more than Carol, and probably at this point, including his parents,” Quinto tells us. “And so I think bringing her with him for that moment of surrender is very telling. And I think they have each other’s backs in a way that you can probably rest assured that it is the best place for him to be, at least in that moment if she’s advocating for it.”

Watch the full video interview above with Zachary Quinto about Muriel’s news, Oliver and Josh’s relationship, the flashforwards, Amelia showing up in the present, and much more.

In response, Sheezan smiled and said, speaking to Bollywood Bubble, “Mera toh chal raha hai show, mai toh show kar raha hu,” making it clear that his focus is on his current project. When asked if he would consider doing Bigg Boss in the future, he replied, “I’m doing a television show, I’m at my best, living my life. After packing up, I get to go home and go to the gym. I don’t want to have unnecessary fights with anyone.”

His reply shows that he enjoys the routine and peace that comes with working on a fiction show, unlike the chaos and drama of a reality show like Bigg Boss.

Sheezan also shared that he is supporting actress Ashnoor Kaur this season.“I’ve known Ashnoor (Kaur) for a long time. I was surprised to see her on Bigg Boss, but I’m really happy she’s there,” he said warmly.

Sheezan’s words reflect his current contentment and his focus on positivity and growth.

How Politics and Division Shaped Season 6 (Exclusive)

by jummy84 September 29, 2025
written by jummy84

[Warning: The following contains spoilers for the Unforgotten Season 6 finale.]

Six seasons in, British crime drama Unforgotten continues to tell gripping, complex stories. When the killer of brutish husband, father and business proprietor Gerry Cooper was revealed in the Masterpiece series’ Sunday, September 28 finale on PBS, it turned out not to be any of the four persons of interest set up at the start: his wife Juliet (Victoria Hamilton), onetime mistress Melinda (MyAnna Buring), former employee Marty (Maximilian Fairley), and the Afghani translator who had aided some of Gerry’s immigrant tenants, Asif (Elham Ehsas).

It was Gerry’s teenage daughter, Taylor (Pixie Davies), who was responsible for his death, and she hadn’t even realized it because her mother had covered for her. When the girl, 11 years old at the time, saw her mother on the floor and her father striking Juliet with his foot, she grabbed a knife that was on the kitchen table and stabbed him in the leg.

He bled out, but by then Juliet had taken Taylor upstairs, before returning to dismember her husband’s body and dispose of it in the marsh. In the end, police detectives Sunny Khan and Jess James (Sanjeev Bhaskar and Sinéad Keenan) learned that prosecutors opted not to charge either one.

Besides offering a terrific whodunit, Unforgotten creator and executive producer Chris Lang, who has written every episode of the series, wanted to explore the political divide that Britain — and many other countries — are facing through this season’s characters.

“That was my prevailing theme, division,” he tells TV Insider. “I think the left and the right in the U.K. used to be able to rub along fairly amicably, but since Brexit, it’s been really difficult, and it feels like people have entrenched themselves even further in their positions. There’s a sort of straight fault line down the middle that’s more marked, I think, than it’s ever been.”

MASTERPIECE and Mainstreet Productions

Although the characters represented varying political stances — Melinda was a right-wing political commentator; Asif was helping a friend who’d entered the country illegally — viewer response illustrated the divide when Unforgotten aired in Britain earlier this year. Lang’s social media pages lit up with angry comments.

“The greatest challenge was … to not respond in the way that I was advocating we’ve got to stop doing,” Lang says. “We’ve got to start having more restrained conversations. We’ve got to respect each other more. I developed a technique of saying, ‘Well, I’m sorry you feel like that, and I hope you can still enjoy the show in some way.’ I knew it was going to provoke a reaction, but I didn’t think it would be as strong as it was.”

The American political climate even prompted a change in filming locales. Unforgotten‘s American broadcaster, PBS, was defunded by the federal government this summer amid accusations by Republicans and President Trump that PBS has a liberal bias. But concerns about the political ramifications of this season existed even before the 2024 election.

Lang initially planned to set and shoot part of Season 6 in the U.S., but those scenes, which involved Melinda, were rewritten to take place in Ireland (and shot in Wales). “In the end, it was deemed to be too difficult to shoot in America,” he says. “The elections were coming up and … it was a politically sensitive story. There were a lot of difficult subjects addressed, and in the end, it was felt it was probably more expedient to shoot in a country close to home.”

Lang feels not filming in the U.S. was the right decision. “Whatever I’m saying as a writer is really about the U.K. and its environments. When you move out and start maybe commenting on other countries, it becomes a bit more problematic and less welcome,” he says. “The response the show got here was really evidence of how sensitive these more difficult subjects are. I think it would have just been the same in America, and perhaps the pressure is even greater there.”

Unforgotten‘s seventh season is scheduled to start shooting in January.

EXCLUSIVE: Dolly Singh Reveals NOT Getting Acting Opportunities After Bhumi Pednekar’s Thank You For Coming

by jummy84 September 27, 2025
written by jummy84

Dolly Singh made her acting debut with Thank You For Coming, starring Bhumi Pednekar, Kusha Kapila, Shibani Bedi and others. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, the YouTuber revealed she was once rejected for a role due to her teeth. Dolly confessed that getting acting opportunities for her has not been easy because people judge her as a content creator. Scroll down to read what she said and watch the full interview.

Dolly Singh On Facing Rejections Due To Body, Colour

When asked if she faced rejection due to her body, colour or appearance, Dolly Singh replied, “I think the thing is now obviously everybody is placed a little safe. So koi tumhare muh pe nahi shayad wo aake mujhe nahi batayenge ki ‘Are tum zyada patli ho toh hum tumhe nahi le sakte’. Mujhe lagta hai ki bhi, theek hai, I also feel that off course for a particular role, there’s a particular visual, you know, that the writer, director, are thinking of. So I get it sometimes, you just don’t fit.”

She revealed how once a director said her teeth needed to be fixed. The YouTuber revealed, “But ek baar, ek director ne ek baar mujhe bola tha ki ‘Yaar, ye daant thode, theek kara lo’. Toh yeh main sure hoon, yeh toh unhone mere munh pe us din bol diya. But main sure hoon, jahan main nahi hoon, un rooms mein toh hota hoga na, not just for me, main sure hoon, for everybody, ki ‘Yaar, ye thoda zyada mota hai’ ya ‘Yeh thoda zyada patli hai’. Isko nahi le sakte. Toh jo main feel karta hoon, har baar zaroori nahi hai ki wo cheez chale. Kyunki kuch roles mein woh factor matter nahi karta hai, as long as a person can pull off the character. I think that should be in fact.”

Dolly Singh Reveals Not Getting Work After Thank You For Coming

Dolly continued, “With content creation and acting, it’s a double-edged sword, ki humein roles mil toh jaate hain, par wahi do minute ke roles milenge, jisme aapko wahi karna hoga jo aap normally apne Instagram pe karte ho, the same character. Aur phir aapko promotion ke liye bulaya jaayega, aur phir aapki following ko push kara jaayega. They will say ki ‘Aao, promote karo film ko.’ Toh ek thoda used bhi feel hota hai. Aur yeh bhi lagta hai ki ‘Yaar, theek hai, ismein mujhe maza aaya.’ Par ab mujhe kuch bada bhi karna hai na, acting mein, mujhe aur cheezein explore karni hain. Par woh exploration karne ko nahi milta hai.”

She added, “Toh, Thank You For Coming, ke baad bhi mujhe koi aisi khaas, aise meri life nahi badli, aur woh nahi hua ki ‘Are bahut auditions aa rahe hain’ ya ‘Bahut opportunities aa rahi hain’. Nahi, aisa kuch nahi hai. Because wahi hai ki influencers ka ek stereotype alag ban gaya hai, ki ye yahi kar sakta hai.”

EXCLUSIVE: Rahul Dev States Craft Matters More Than Going To Gyms

by jummy84 September 26, 2025
written by jummy84

Rahul Dev confessed that acting matters more than going to the gym and building a body for actors. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, the actor recalls building six-pack abs in the beginning of his career. Scroll down to read what he said and watch the full interview.

Rahul Dev States Craft Matters More Than Going To Gyms

When asked about the struggles faced by him in the industry, the actor said, “Agar aap yaha negative roles se aage aagaye, toh mujhe kai baar lagta tha ki yaar koi humein dusre kisam ke roles de, not purely hero-villain wala chakkar. Kyunki main is industry ka pehle se hissa nahin hu, bahar se aaya hu.
Aur jin logon se main seekhne ki koshish kar raha tha uss time ki craft hota kya hai. Sabse pehle toh yeh hai ki craft kya hai aapka? Lekin uss yeh bhi disha galat ho gayi thi ki hum log sirf six-pack banane mein lage hue the.”

He further added, “Woh bhi ek tarah se kaam aa gaya Champion mein, unhe ek balwan negative actor chahiye tha Sunny ke opposite Aur unka screen image itna bada tha, matlab yaar, jo aadmi handpump ukhaad ke poori train wapas le aaye Hindustan, sochiye na!”

Rahul Dev On Physical Training

Talking about actors that focus on physical training for their acting careers, Rahul said, “Toh toh uss wajah se, aur jab aap ek kisi shaili mein tayyar nahin hote, toh mujhe lagta hai ki bohot saare log jab mujhse milte hain bolte hain, yaar main training kar raha hoon acting ki aur gym ja raha hoon.
Yaar gym aap tab jao zaroor lekin Main yeh isliye keh raha hoon kyunki logon ko lagta hai ki yaar exercise bada important hai. Lekin mujhe lagta hai ki kisi bhi director, jab aapse milta hai na, especially achhe wale directors, ya koi accha writer hai..ab toh casting directors bhi bohot accurate aa gaye hain ki kaunsa role chahiye.”

He added, “Phir doosra yeh hai ki director aur kahani mein kya depth dikhana chah raha hai voh. Uske irdh-girdh ke characters select hote hain aajkal. Aur kabhi-kabhi ho sakta hai aap unhe convince kar do ki yaar humein le lo, lagta toh nahin hoon waise magar aapko dikha dunga. Woh again kismaat hai, woh aapki conviction hai. But in the end, they are very clear. Directors are very clear who they want to cast, aur casting directors bhi. Brief unke paas already hota hai. Main uss accha kaam ki baat kar raha hoon jo ab ho raha hai.”

Rahul Dev will be seen in Welcome to the Jungle and The Saga of Rashtriya Rifles.

‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ Book Goes Inside ‘Seinfeld’ Reunion (Exclusive)

by jummy84 September 26, 2025
written by jummy84

Larry David’s character, Larry David, wasn’t trying to be funny when he stumbled each week into hilariously tragic situations as if they were unavoidable potholes. He was simply a natural at saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, and even better at screwing up the chance to apologize. But a great comedy like Curb doesn’t just wander into ludicrous situations. It takes hard work to create the illusion of effortless humor, which is exactly what the HBO series did over 12 seasons, 120 episodes, and 24 years.

TV Larry’s debacles took meticulous planning and skilled execution by the real Larry David, along with a dedicated crew that included writers, producers, editors and talent. Curb’s team brought Susie’s rants, Jeff’s lies, Cheryl’s suffering and Leon’s bad advice to life, scene by scene, set by set, edit by edit.

Each new chapter of Curb presented unique challenges, but for the sake of brevity and humanity’s shrinking attention span, we’ll focus on just one season: 2009’s Seinfeld reunion story arc, aka season seven. David went to great lengths to reunite the NBC sitcom’s original cast and crew, and resurrect the original set on the original soundstage so that the “show within the show” appeared absolutely authentic. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Here’s how the season came to be, from Larry’s first scribblings to the show’s final edits.

Dawn of a New Season

JEFF SCHAFFER (WRITER, DIRECTOR AND EXECUTIVE PRODUCER, SEASONS 5-12): A new season usually starts at the end of the season before it, when Larry says ‘Curb is finished! There will never be more Curb. Curb is done. Dead. Stick a fork in it.’ A few months later, he calls and says, ‘I’m not doing another season.’ We go, ‘OK.’ Then he says, ‘I only have one idea.’ ‘Do you want to talk about it?’ we ask. ‘No,’ he says, ‘it’s a waste of time.’ Then . . . we’ll talk about it. We’ll end up working on something that Larry is convinced will never, ever see the light of day. We figure out a season arc, and that’s when it’s clear that a new season is actually happening.

Well, it’s clear to me. Larry still refuses to think we’re actually making the show. It’s not until we have seven or eight shows written I tell Larry, “Hey, we need to call HBO and tell them we are doing another season so we can crew up.

LARRY DAVID (CREATOR, WRITER AND STAR): I have these notebooks with ideas, and Jeff [Schaffer] has his own notebooks. We pick through them like the Mission: Impossible team for ideas. We’re looking to combine stories and ideas that seemingly have nothing to do with each other. The main thing is the premise and the story have to be funny. They have to be ideas that make us laugh, like pee splashing on Jesus in the bathroom and it looks like he’s crying. It has to be something that tickles us.

SCHAFFER: Larry is fearless about jumping in and starting, even when we don’t know where we’re going to end up. He’ll say, “Let’s put these things together and see what happens.” And I’ll be like, “Well, where’s it going to go?” And he’s like, “I don’t know, that’s what we’re going to find out.” He’s great at starting, and I’m always thinking about finishing. We somehow meet in the middle.

DAVID: From start to finish, it takes around 18 months to make a season; six months of writing, six months of shooting, and six months of editing.

SCHAFFER: Each Curb episode is actually written three times. The first time is the outline. We throw it up on a dry-erase board (just like we wrote Seinfeld) and do comedy geometry until the stories all intersect in a pleasing way that pays off at the end. (That’s the toughest part. As a measure of how difficult this part is: In November of 2020 we shot in the middle of the pandemic when there were no vaccines yet, all on location with an older cast. Why? Because we had already written it. Larry was like, we wrote it; we’re doing it. And I’ll deal with the consequences.) The second time the show is written is on set where these incredible improv actors make magic happen, and every scene is a live rewrite generating lots of funny options. And then the show is written for the third and final time in the edit where we choose which takes and jokes to use.

The Outline

David is renowned for creating airtight outlines that form the scaffolding around each scene, episode, and season. The beams of this sturdy plot structure support the freewheeling improv performances that take place within, allowing for a final seamless narrative where all the disparate subplots converge.

DAVID: We’re always looking for a great story arc, and they’re not that easy to come up with. They’re more in the vein of a movie premise. That’s how the Seinfeld reunion came about. We knew it was something we could have fun with . . . and we had no other ideas at the time.

SCHAFFER: We knew we weren’t going to do the Seinfeld reunion that NBC wanted. [We wouldn’t do] corny. We were going to do a Curb-style Seinfeld reunion, which meant Curb Larry was going to get the cast back together and do a reunion for his own selfish reasons. He wanted to get back with Cheryl. His whole agenda was self-serving. All those things that people wanted in a Seinfeld reunion, like, “Oh, I can’t wait for Jerry and Elaine to get together and the show is going to end with a wedding!” We gave it to them, but off-camera, because the two split up before the reunion.

DAVID: We decided that she’d already had a kid with Jerry.

SCHAFFER: The choice was to deprive people of exactly what they wanted. It was a very Curb choice.

The season seven finale, “Seinfeld,” presented unique challenges, even for a comedy as unique as Curb.

SCHAFFER: There was an added level of complexity because it was a Curb episode, but it was also part of a supposed Seinfeld special. And knowing that Curb Larry is only doing the reunion to get Cheryl back, it became logical that he’s going to lose Cheryl to Jason. So once we knew that’s where we were going to end the season, we had to aim everything toward that conclusion. He was going to almost lose her, then get her back, then lose her for good when he sees the ring stain on Julia [Louis-Dreyfus]’s wood table. [Context: Larry attends a party at Julia’s house where he is blamed for leaving a ring stain on her wood table. His defense is that someone else did it because he “respects wood”; he spends the rest of the episode interrogating everyone he encounters: “Do you respect wood?”]

Casting

With season seven, David reunited Seinfeld’s original cast, wrote a redeeming storyline for Michael Richards (Kramer) after the comedian faced widespread criticism for a racially charged tirade during a 2006 stand-up set, and introduced Mocha Joe (Saverio Guerra) as Larry’s new nemesis.

LAURA STREICHER (CO-EXECUTIVE PRODUCER): Some of Curb’s story arcs were reliant on specific guest stars signing on for the season but were written before Larry approached them about it. Mel Brooks for The Producers season. Lin-Manuel Miranda for the Fatwa/Hamilton arc. Even Jerry, Julia, Jason and Michael for the Seinfeld reunion. And I would say to him, “Larry, you’ve written a couple episodes now. Maybe it’s time to make the calls and ask if they want to do it?” But he’d never worry about it, he’d just keep writing, and, when the time came to finally ask, somehow it always worked out for him … Clearly Larry David is the king of manifestation. I mean, imagine writing a whole season and them being like, “I don’t think so, Larry.” What would we have done?

DAVID: I don’t remember having to talk to the cast about it beyond one or two conversations. It wasn’t a big deal. Jerry was onboard immediately, and so once we had Jerry, then getting the others wasn’t that hard.

JERRY SEINFELD: I did think it was a good idea because I knew that doing a conventional network-type reunion show was never going to be appropriate for us. So being on Larry’s show was a perfect way to do it.

JASON ALEXANDER (GEORGE COSTANZA): Initially I had concerns that a reunion show wouldn’t be a good thing to do, or a fun thing to do. We hadn’t worked as a group in 10 years. So we’re all 10 years older. So the first thing I’m thinking is, what was barely charming on characters in their thirties and forties may be completely devoid of charm in their forties and fifties, and that may be a mistake. Would we be able to resurrect that sense of ensemble play that we had so effortlessly on our show? But then also just the pure technicality of, it’s hard enough to improvise a scene when it’s two people, but when you’ve got six people?! “My turn, no, my turn..” I thought this was a daunting task that could show us as being less than we were. But the experience was glorious; the ensemble feeling that we had, the affection that we had for each other, it was immediate. And walking back onto those exact replicas of our sets was like a time tunnel. It was just astonishing.

Here, Jason Alexander and Jerry Seinfeld are playing George and Jerry, respectively, in the Seinfeld reunion on Curb.

Doug Hyun/HBO/Courtesy Everett Collection

“BEING ON LARRY’S SHOW WAS A PERFECT WAY TO DO IT.” -Jerry Seinfeld

DAVID: I have to give credit to Jason. He was playing a really prickly version of himself, which he did the whole season. Remember the scene in the restaurant where he wouldn’t coordinate the tip? It still makes me laugh.

ROGER NYGARD (EDITOR, SEASONS 6-8, 10-12): Larry needs someone who’s going to fight back and fight with him, so the actors from Seinfeld are the perfect foils [for him] and they work with whatever you give them. They’re good at creating conflict. I remember asking Julia Louis-Dreyfus, “What does it take for you to make a scene funny?” And she said, “I need to have something to push back against, then I can make it funny.” And that’s what Larry does, he pushes back against stupid social mores or somebody’s dumb rule and he gets to have the arguments. So they were the perfect match for Larry.

SCHAFFER: Obviously Larry has a longstanding relationship with all of those guys. So the improv always felt pretty natural. Jason’s playing a fun-house version of himself. Julia is playing a version of herself that is more irascible. Everyone just sort of amped it up to make Larry uncomfortable. You’re following a lot of people and a lot of stories at the end of the season; they’re coming together on a show that Larry and Jerry had to write. It was really complicated.

DAVID: I wanted to do something for Michael [Richards]. Like a little gesture for him in that episode because he was coming off of that horrible stand-up set [that went viral]. I just wanted to put him on the show. So we ended up pairing him with JB [Smoove], who was playing Leon playing Danny Duberstein.

SCHAFFER: We also brought back the crew and our staff from Seinfeld to play the people on Curb’s “Seinfeld” set, like our producer Susie Mamann Greenberg, writers assistants, our former AD [assistant director] Randy Carter. It was exhilarating to see everybody back there, and for this one brief shining moment, it was like we were on Seinfeld again.

Most of the Curb audience had no idea that the crew portrayed on the Seinfeld reunion set were in fact the original Seinfeld crew. Why did the team go to the trouble of bringing them back when no one but Curb insiders knew?

DAVID: Well, if we were shooting on the Seinfeld stage with the Seinfeld cast, why not the Seinfeld crew?

SCHAFFER: And we’re only making the show for us. I’ve always said, if Larry was making this show as a home video for himself, nothing would be different.

The Location and Set

Curb traversed the city of Los Angeles for the majority of its twelve seasons. The various homes of the Greenes and Davids were actually rented properties in Malibu, the Hollywood Hills and Brentwood. Angelenos may have noticed that Larry’s dining spots included Canter’s Deli and Don Cuco’s Mexican Restaurant. The Seinfeld reunion season moved the show back onto the original lot and soundstage where the nineties sitcom was shot. But for authenticity’s sake, Larry pushed it a step further.

ERIN O’MALLEY (PRODUCER, SEASONS 5-8; DIRECTOR OF THE SURPRISE PARTY): Larry wanted me to get the original Seinfeld set, so I said, “Sure, where is it stored?” And he’s like, “I don’t know, call somebody.” It became a quest. There were rumors that the set was at the Smithsonian. I checked; it wasn’t. So I called NBC, and they said to call Castle Rock. It took a while, but somebody at Castle Rock finally narrowed it down to a storage facility way out in the San Fernando Valley. I sent my production designer to this giant warehouse. We’re on the phone as he’s in this facility walking, walking, walking. He finally sees this strip of wood, and it says “Seinfeld” on it. And there it was, literally tucked away in a corner.

We set it up back on the CBS Radford lot. I didn’t have all the little pieces, because the guys from Seinfeld—Jerry, Julia—said that everyone took pieces when the show ended, as keepsakes. But Larry also wanted to update the set, so we were taking this iconic set and modernizing it. But it was such a bizarre thing to actually stand on that set. It was like touching history.

SCHAFFER: We re-created Larry and Jerry’s office in the same space where their actual office used to be, in Building 5. And we had their two desks facing each other, because that was how it used to be arranged. There’s also a dry-erase board on the wall in those reunion scenes, and you’ll see ideas written on there. Those were actual ideas that Alec [Berg] and I had pitched when we worked on Seinfeld that Larry said no to, so we never used them. It’s like we finally got to use them. You’ll also see that building in “The Bare Midriff” [Season 7, Episode 6], when Larry catches his assistant’s stomach to keep from falling off the roof. That’s the roof of the building where Seinfeld was written.

DIRECTING

When Curb and Seinfeld collided for the reunion storyline, directors Jeff Schaffer, Alec Berg and Dave Mandel had to manage a show within a show. It wasn’t always easy.

SCHAFFER: It was surreal to work back on the old set on Stage Nine, on the Radford lot in Studio City. We’d be shooting a Curb scene where Larry was watching and giving notes on a Seinfeld scene. There were the Seinfeld cameras, and then behind that were the Curb cameras where Alec and I were directing. Once, when the take-inside-a-take ended and Curb Larry walked up to give notes to the Seinfeld cast, I also had notes on the Seinfeld scene just like I used to back in the nineties. I started to walk out on set to give them, and Alec literally had to grab me by my belt, and say, “Idiot, you’re going to ruin the shot!” We were still in the scene! It was so instinctive to think, all right, the Seinfeld scene’s over. Larry’s got some notes and I’ve got some notes. It was a real mindbending situation.

We also wanted to show the set from different angles for viewers who watched Seinfeld but didn’t get to go behind the scenes. So we had the cameras follow Cheryl going behind the set, past our set PA actor (Eric André, in one of his first roles ever) and all over the place on the lot.

PERFORMANCES

In the reunion season, fictionalized Jason walks out of the production and Curb Larry steps into the role of George Costanza to keep the show going. But since the fussy Seinfeld character was initially created as an elevated version of David himself, this sowed understandable confusion on the Curb set.

DAVID: I was uncomfortable because he was doing me on the show Seinfeld, and now I’m doing him, doing me. It was weird and crazy.

SCHAFFER: You were really uncomfortable. All I could say is, “But it’s going to be so funny.” You were squirming around trying to figure out if there was another way to get to the same spot in the story arc without playing George. It was supposed to look like a big mistake, and it did. He was taking me through it. I would say to him, “How do you say this?” And he’d go, “George is getting upset!” But think about how crazy that was. There’s going to be a Seinfeld reunion, and Jason’s not going to be in it, but TV Larry is going to be playing George. Very odd.

SAVERIO GUERRA (MOCHA JOE AND LAWYER JOE D’ANGELO): When they were working on the reunion, Curb Larry thought Cheryl was having sex with Jason in the back of his car out on the lot. So Larry opened the door, and Jason’s got these two killer dogs in the back. They chase me [as Mocha Joe] down the lot, and they bite me. So Larry comes over to my cart. I’ve got a bandage on my hand. I say, “I’m going to have Jason’s dogs euthanized.” He said, “You can’t do that.” I said, “Not only am I gonna have them euthanized, but I’m gonna have it televised!” Then the director said, “No, no, that’s too much.’ And [the real] Larry said, “No it’s not. Leave it in.” That’s when I realized he edits in his head, even when he’s acting.

Props

DORT CLARK (PROPERTY MASTER, SEASONS 1-9): The glasses on the show were the real glasses he wore. They were a certain style of Oliver Peoples frames from the 1990s. He only had two pairs, one that was transitional and one that was clear.

ROSE LEIKER (PROPERTY MASTER, SEASONS 11-12): Larry’s glasses were the property department’s daily heart attack. I was only on the final two seasons and by that time, the glasses protocol was already established, but what I can say is that it is impossible to get the exact frames today. What I was told was that a few seasons before me, a producer went down the rabbit hole in search for the manufacturer of the exact pair of glasses. She was able to find someone in a small cabin in Switzerland to make four pairs, which Larry inherited. So every day, the prop department was in charge of his personal irreplaceable glasses. Remember, in some episodes we even had to drop them in a toilet or bend them!

Wardrobe

LESLIE SCHILLING (COSTUME DESIGNER, SEASONS 9-12): Everyone always says Larry just wears his own clothes. This is a bit of a misconception. Larry likes to be Larry. When I first started the show, I went to his house to “shop” his closet. It was clear to me not a lot of shopping had been done in the years when the show was on a break [a six-year gap between seasons eight and nine]. Styles had changed. Larry’s taste had not. Larry likes a simple silhouette. Slim but not tight. Fitted but not structured. I bought him new versions of the same things and maybe every gray and blue cashmere sweater in town. James Perse had a modern version of his corduroy jacket. The AG Tellis became the perfect five-pocket pant. At the end of each season Larry took his closet home so at the beginning of the next season I would ‘shop’ his closet and supplement with newer pieces as we filmed. When I see Larry in public, I like to spot the pieces I bought him.

Is Evelyn Dead? Ending and Shocking ‘Leap’ Scene Explained by Toni Collette (Exclusive)

by jummy84 September 25, 2025
written by jummy84

Mae Martin‘s new Netflix series Wayward is a twisty psychological thriller about an academy for “troubled teens,” run by Evelyn Wade (Toni Collette), and the surrounding town that holds a whole lot of secrets.

Evelyn uses questionable methods to get the students to remember traumatic events from their past to prepare them for a ritual called “the Leap,” but the process is eventually turned on her in the end when Alex (Martin) injects her with a too-large portion of the drugs used, resulting in a haunting scene that shows Evelyn reacting to the psychedelic overload.

But did the injection actually kill her? “We actually did a lot of takes which were far more intense and it felt like Evelyn was gone forever,” Collette tells TV Insider. “But it’s kind of left a little open-ended.”

Martin, who created the show, confirms, “I think [Evelyn’s] still in there.”

Alex is a cop who’s new to the town of Tall Pines. He moved there with his pregnant wife, Laura (Sarah Gadon), who used to be a student at Tall Pines Academy and has a troubled history with Evelyn, memories of which she unlocks throughout the series. It doesn’t take long for Alex to notice that things are a little off at the Academy and within the town in general (for example, Tall Pines has no children.)

As he investigates, with help from two of the school’s teens, Abbie (Sydney Topliffe) and Leila (Alyvia Alyn Lind), he makes an enemy out of Evelyn, who wants to “Leap” him before he can find out the full truth of what she’s up to. When Alex escapes, he’s shocked to find that Laura has given birth to their child and is essentially sharing the baby with the rest of the people in the town. “It’s everyone’s. It’s the only way to break the pattern,” Laura insists.

While Alex seems horrified to see that his wife is essentially taking on Evelyn’s leadership role in a new form, he ultimately makes the decision to stay with her and their baby in Tall Pines. He helps Abbie escape by leaving her his car so she can leave town, but he doesn’t join her for the getaway.

“I knew that I wanted the show to escalate to something pretty surreal and almost sort of a parabole by the end, or a weird myth,” Martin explains. “Alex is a deeply flawed character who desperately wants acceptance, and I really understand his choice, in a way. He compromises a lot of his integrity and his morals, but he ultimately wants to stay with his wife and baby. I’m curious for what would happen for them in the future. I think their kid is going to be pretty messed up.”

As for whether or not we’ll get to explore the family’s future in another season of Wayward, that’s still up in the air. “I was told it was a miniseries, but there’s definitely more story to tell, I think,” Martin admits. “We left all those characters in crisis, basically.”

Collette adds that the cast “talks about” returning for a Season 2. “It’s endlessly intriguing,” she says. “Endlessly. So many places it could go, for sure.” As Gadon also points out, “Nothing’s tied up in a neat little bow.”

Shawn Johnson and Andrew East on Season 4, Preparing for the Show, and More (Exclusive)

by jummy84 September 24, 2025
written by jummy84

Shawn Johnson and Andrew East may be former professional athletes, but Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test was far from a cake walk for the couple.

“We’re very used to, I don’t want to say physical pain, but coming from elite athletics, we know how to deal with that,” Johnson tells TV Insider. “It’s an expectation. The mental side was way different than anything I think Andrew or I had ever dealt with before, so that was new.”

They both agree that the mental portion of the show was much harder than the physical portion for them, even though they attempted to train for the grueling physical challenges before filming.

“I thought it was going to be all physical challenges, so I was like, ‘Let’s make sure we’re in good shape and our cardio’s good and our strength’s good,’ but there was so many different types of challenges beyond just the physical challenges that you can’t prepare for,” East explains. “It’s like, how do you face your biggest fear? You have to just face it and see how you do in that situation. … It takes a really unique skillset to do well on that course. It’s way more than just physical prowess.”

Johnson says she tried to work on “holding [her] breath underwater” and “rucking because [she] knew the [backpacks] were heavy,” adding, “I think the only thing we really did was work out to make sure we were feeling good.”

Scroll down for more from our chat with the Season 4 cast members, including how they supported each other through the course, despite competing individually, and more.

Tell me a little about getting cast for the show – was one of you approached first or was it always a two-for-one deal?

Shawn Johnson: I had been asked in previous seasons and, unfortunately, always had to say no because I was either pregnant or postpartum. This time when they came back, they offered both of us, and I was like, “Oh heck yes.” I’d rather do it with my husband, anyways.

Andrew East: I think what made us want to do it is we are kind of adrenaline junkies. We knew there’d be a lot of exciting, once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. I think we walked away wanting to keep those experiences once-in-a-lifetime and not do them again because it was a really grueling experience but definitely worth it.

PETE DADDS / FOX

Was there any hesitation knowing you were going to be away from the kids for a few weeks and everything?

East: There was for sure hesitation about leaving our kids, but we talked to all the doctors and psychologists and they were like, “We think your kids will be OK for this duration of time.”

Johnson: We brought in, like, a full army for our kids. They didn’t even notice we were gone.

East: They were with their cousins and nana and papa and the whole thing. It was great. I think they probably preferred us leaving. But it was so fun to do together, and I’m glad we did that.

Were you able to work together on the show at all, or was it totally an individual thing?

Johnson: Totally individual, which was fine. We were separated pretty quickly and we would still see each other throughout the day, but we were rarely on the same team. The teams change multiple times a day. You go from singles to doubles to big teams to small teams. But it was almost better that way. We were both independently there for our own challenging to see how far we could go. We were just big cheerleaders for each other.

East: The whole vibe of the show, too, is that everyone is kind of competing against each other, but you’re also not in certain ways. Everyone’s rooting for each other and it feels like if one wins, the whole team wins. I feel like that was the case for Shawn and I and all the cast members. It was really fun to know Shawn and know where she had more she could do and maybe where I could push her in certain ways and if she’s in a really uncomfortable spot, maybe I can show her some good old love in that moment. It was great and I feel like we all got closer together.

Were there ever moments when you saw one another struggling and weren’t able to help the other one?

Johnson: I mean, yeah. We both saw each other go through moments of struggle. It definitely hurts as a spouse to see that. Andrew saw me get concussed and be given a broken nose, and I saw him crack ribs. It was wild that way. But it also challenged both of us to have faith in each other’s strengths and just be like, “I’m here for you if you need me, but you got it.”

East: That was really cool where I know what Shawn’s capable of in a really unique way, I think, so in some ways it was like, you don’t need my help and I’d just remove myself from the picture. Honestly, I would put my money on Shawn in any type of competition or if she’s facing any other competitor. So I knew that she was going to crush it the whole way.

Had you watched past seasons of the show, and were you able to talk to any former cast members about their experiences?

Johnson: We had. So we had watched all the seasons and we have a lot of friends who have been on the first three seasons. A lot of advice – it’s only so transferable because every season’s very different and you don’t know what the challenges are going to be. But I think everyone said the same thing, which is just focus on getting to the next meal. Basically don’t look at the bigger picture, just do little steps day by day.

East: Everyone said it was way harder in person than what the show shows. It’s the little things. Like they really intentionally build the whole experience to make you uncomfortable. They did a good job with that.

What would you say surprised you the most about the experience?

Johnson: I think my favorite thing about the experience was the relationships with the DS and the recruits. I think it’s such an eclectic cast. We’re all from different walks and industries and styles of life, but we all became so close, so fast, and really trusted each other with our lives. The DS imparted their wisdom and their stories and learning they’re truly just trying to make you better was really special.

Was there anyone on the cast that you got close with that you didn’t expect?

Johnson: I didn’t know Brianna [LaPaglia] before at all, and we got to be really close on the show.

East: It was fun because it was such an eclectic crew. Some of the crew was on other reality shows. This was my first reality TV experience, and I think it was very shocking at how stressful the entire experience was. You’re not filming and going back to some fancy hotel room and eating a fancy meal. It’s 24/7 stress and you don’t know what’s going to happen and when. It was constant surprises, is what I felt like.

What are you excited for people to see this season?

Johnson: I am itching to see it. I cannot wait. Because the only thing I remember is myself. I feel like, when we’re doing the show, it’s so intense, you’re so focused on doing your job and helping your team, we actually don’t get to watch a lot of each other go through these moments. Everybody’s on a very specific journey that the DS are helping them with. So I think it will, I don’t know, finish the story for me, to see everyone’s journey and everyone’s struggles and see how they handled it all. I’m so excited to watch it.

East: I’m excited because I think there’s a little bit of everything in it. We laugh, we cry ,we had near-death experiences, we had deep talks. I think it will just be a good TV show to watch. So I’m really excited to watch it.
