The first wave of Leeds school engagements will begin in the Spring of 2026 across the region, with the aim of reaching 10,000+ young people in the first year.

This programme expansion for 2026 is made possible with sponsorship from leading event industry organisations across the Leeds region:

With the incredible support of our ambassadors and sponsors, we look forward to developing a lasting impact across the region.”

The Power of Events had already announced 4 new regions coming online in the autumn of 2025 – Manchester/Liverpool/Cheshire, Edinburgh, London and most recently Bath/Bristol, with a projection of engaging over 250,000 young people across the 8 live regions by the end of 2026.

To kick off the Leeds region, The Power of Events will be inviting event industry professionals to an exclusive launch reception in the city in early 2026.

This event will provide an opportunity to learn more about the programme and how to get involved as a volunteer schools ambassador, as well as network with the programme sponsors alongside the wider organisation’s supporters and partners.

bitchy | Donald Trump forgot to say that he’s demolishing the entire White House East Wing

by jummy84 October 23, 2025
written by jummy84

Months ago, Donald Trump announced his plan to build a gigantic, gaudy new “White House ballroom” on the east side of the WH campus. He actually said, repeatedly and on the record, that the plan was to build a big ballroom adjacent to the existing structure, and perhaps attach the ballroom to the mansion via some kind of breezeway. Like everything that comes out of that ugly orange man’s mouth, all of that was a lie. Several days ago, construction started on the ballroom. Scratch that – construction has NOT started, because they’re too busy demolishing the White House’s East Wing. On Wednesday, the White House confirmed that the entirety of the East Wing will be demolished by this weekend.

The White House is demolishing the entirety of the East Wing to make way for President Trump’s $200 million ballroom, a construction project that is far more extensive than he initially let on, a senior administration official said on Wednesday.

The tear-down should be finished by this weekend, according to the official, who was not authorized to speak publicly about the plans. When Mr. Trump first announced his plans for the ballroom, he pledged that the East Wing wouldn’t be touched by the construction.

“It’ll be views of the Washington Monument. It won’t interfere with the current building. It’ll be near it but not touching it,” the president said. “And pays total respect to the existing building, which I’m the biggest fan of.”

But, upon further evaluation, the White House determined it was cheaper and more structurally sound to demolish the East Wing to construct the ballroom, rather than build an addition, the official said. The new structure will also have enhanced security features, the official said.

[From The NY Times]

The few wide-perspective shots of that side of the White House already showed just how extensive the project is, but it’s pretty crazy that Trump has been lying his ass off for months, and then mid-demolition, he’s like “oh year, we’re taking this whole thing down.” Historic preservationists are really upset, obviously:

Photos of construction teams knocking down parts of the East Wing, first revealed by The Washington Post on Monday, shocked preservationists, raised questions about White House overreach and lack of transparency, and sparked complaints from Democrats that President Donald Trump was damaging “the People’s House” to pursue a personal priority.

“They’re wrecking it,” said Martha Joynt Kumar, a political scientist and professor emeritus at Towson University in Maryland. “And these are changes that can’t be undone. They’re destroying that history forever.”

A White House spokesman said that the “entirety” of the East Wing would eventually be “modernized and rebuilt.”

The National Trust for Historic Preservation, a nonprofit created by Congress to help preserve historic buildings, sent a letter Tuesday to administration officials, warning that the planned 90,000-square-foot ballroom “will overwhelm the White House itself,” which is about 55,000 square feet. “We respectfully urge the Administration and the National Park Service to pause demolition until plans for the proposed ballroom go through the legally required public review processes,” Carol Quillen, National Trust’s CEO, said in a statement, citing two federal commissions that have traditionally reviewed White House additions.

White House officials dismissed the criticism as “manufactured outrage,” arguing that past presidents had pursued their own changes to the executive campus as necessary. They said that the privately funded ballroom will be a “bold, necessary addition” to the presidential grounds.

“For more than a century, U.S. Presidents have been renovating, expanding, and modernizing the White House to meet the needs of the present day,” the White House’s rapid-response team posted on social media, listing examples of prior campus construction.

The Treasury Department on Monday evening instructed employees not to take or share photos of the construction project without permission, according to a person who spoke on the condition of anonymity to detail an internal email. The Treasury headquarters is next to the White House, with some of its offices providing a close view of the East Wing. But areas where the demolition is viewable are closed to the public, fueling criticism about the Trump administration’s lack of transparency.

One of the people who witnessed the demolition Tuesday said that views of the site from Treasury headquarters amplify the demolition, but a large part of the structure remained by late afternoon. However, it appeared that what remained was also headed for demolition, with no evidence that the structure was being protected and only jagged damage visible in the exposed building.

[From WaPo]

“U.S. Presidents have been renovating, expanding, and modernizing the White House to meet the needs of the present day.” Yeah, during the Cold War, the space UNDER the White House was dug out and filled with rooms/shelters and tunnels which could conceivably survive a massive bomb or terrorist attack. We’re not talking about security upgrades, nor are we talking about “Michelle Obama adding a vegetable garden.” Trump didn’t consult with anyone before ripping out the entire East Wing of the People’s House.

bitchy | Donald Trump ripped out the White House’s East Wing to make room for his ballroom

by jummy84 October 22, 2025
written by jummy84

This year has been full of so many castrophically evil stories, almost all of which are happening because of Donald Trump and his fascist minions. It feels weird to complain about issues which are somewhat superficial, but I still find this stuff extremely depressing. Trump already paved over the White House Rose Garden, turning it into an outdoor dining pavilion similar to something you would find outside of a mall food court. But Trump’s biggest change to the White House is the destruction of the East Wing, all to build a massive “ballroom” on the White House complex. Well, Trump announced the ballroom plans months ago, and they broke ground on Monday.

President Donald Trump has begun demolishing the traditional work space of First Lady Melania Trump and her staff to make way for his “big, beautiful” ballroom. Two months after unveiling plans to build the 90,000-square foot ballroom, construction crews have begun tearing down the covered entrance of the East Wing, with cranes and backhoes attacking window frames and knocking away parts of the exterior cladding. Dramatic photos and videos revealed the first stage of the transformation on Monday, showing windows of the historic building smashed and ripped off their hinges.

The new ballroom is being built in the East Wing, which has long housed the offices for the first lady, whose staff have been temporarily relocated to other parts of the White House complex. The Daily Beast has reached out for confirmation as to where they are currently working from.

The former upper floor of White House calligraphy office now has a massive hole, while trees and shrubs have also been cleared from the White House South Lawn to make way for construction.

Trump acknowledged the project at an event in the East Room on Monday afternoon honoring the Louisiana State University baseball teams, telling his guests: “right on the other side, you have a lot of construction going on.”

He later posted on Truth Social declaring that “ground has been broken on the White House grounds to build the new, big, beautiful White House Ballroom. Completely separate from the White House itself, the East Wing is being fully modernized as part of this process, and will be more beautiful than ever when it is complete! For more than 150 years, every President has dreamt about having a Ballroom at the White House to accommodate people for grand parties, State Visits, etc. I am honored to be the first President to finally get this much-needed project underway — with zero cost to the American Taxpayer!”

However, critics have noted that the ballroom, which is expected to cost at least $250 million, is being built at a time when many Americans are still struggling with cost-of-living pressures – something that Trump promised to fix.

[From The Daily Beast]

What I keep thinking about is the history, and how presidents for the past century have been so conscious of the unique history of the White House, and they see themselves as caretakers to the historic property, if nothing else. Sure, some of them made smaller renovations – I remember President Obama talking about how Harry Truman added a private balcony on the top floor, and it was one of Obama’s favorite spots. But none of them would have ripped out the East Wing and built a gaudy, tacky f–king ballroom. Even Trump’s hero Richard Nixon was in awe of the White House’s history and he took pains to never damage or disrupt the actual structure and the museum-quality pieces around the house.

Dave East Details Nipsey Hussle Collab, Reflects On Balancing ‘Karma’

by jummy84 October 18, 2025
written by jummy84

On a late afternoon video call, Dave East appears relaxed but focused — the kind of energy that suggests both reflection and momentum.

After more than a decade in the game, the Harlem rapper speaks like someone who knows exactly where he’s been and where he’s headed. His voice carries the weight of experience: years of lyrical output, collaborations with heavyweight producers like Harry Fraud and Scram Jones, and a steady rise from hungry newcomer to respected mainstay in hip-hop’s evolving landscape.

Now, with the release of Karma 4 on October 15, 2025, East is looking to the future while honoring everything that’s shaped him. The fourth installment of the series he launched in 2017, Karma 4 is his most ambitious to date — a fully realized project that threads together the raw storytelling fans expect with records tailored for a broader audience.

Laze Cartel

It’s gritty and polished, confident and vulnerable. And with a star-studded guest list, the album serves as a reminder of the respect East commands across the industry.

Among its standout moments is a long-shelved collaboration with the late Nipsey Hussle, a track that symbolizes East’s independent spirit and commitment to betting on himself. He talks openly during the call about the importance of good karma, the creative freedom that came with releasing the album independently, and how the streaming era has helped him build a deeper connection with fans over time.

Outside of music, East continues to make strides in acting, growing his on-screen presence while maintaining the authenticity that built his name. But Karma 4 is the moment that centers it all. It’s a statement project that pulls from every corner of his identity and pushes his artistry forward with purpose.

VIBE spoke with Dave East about the making of his latest album, expanding his ground as a creative, and his continued evolution as an artist and as a man.

VIBE: You’re currently getting ready to release your new album Karma 4? How would you say that you have evolved the most musically and otherwise from the first one to now?

Dave East: Just getting older, man, I had two more daughters, Kobi and Kasey, since Kairi. And just living. Took a lot of losses, a lot of wins. I felt like it was a really balanced journey for me, as far as the good and the bad, which is regular life sh*t. Nothing that even has to do with the music. And I think just over time of me learning how to channel that energy better into the music, you’re going to hear it on Karma 4.

The project is led by the singles “Bottega Trunks” and “Havana.” How did those songs come together, and what spurred you to preview the album with those two tracks?

The “Havana record, shout to Chad and Lex, Hot Honors, they produced that. It just had like a golden New York bounce to that joint. So I wanted to come out with some energy as far as the first record I wanted to put out. The “Bottega Trunks.” Shout out to Stove God Cooks. That’s the first time me and him got to really collab, [but] we’ve been kicking it for a while. And that’s just a different whole type of sound and vibe. Shout to Nic Craven. He produced that one. But that’s just a more melodic, different sound from me that I feel like I didn’t put out before.

Right. One of the tracks from the album that people are looking forward to is the joint with you and Nipsey Hussle, with whom you built a brotherhood prior to his passing. What’s your recollection of the making of that track?

We recorded a bunch of joints before he passed and sh*t like that. That was one of them. I never got a chance to put him on none of my tapes. So the records that me and him are on together that are out, like “Clarity,” “Blueprint,” he put them on his project. I felt like now with me being independent, and that’s really what Nip stood for [it was time]. He really waved that independent flag, ‘F**k the middle man.’ That’s what he was about. With this body of work, I think it was the perfect time to drop that joint.

Who are some other producers you worked with on Karma 4?

Mr. Authentic. He’s an early dude in my camp. Me and him have been locked in for years. Like I said, Chad and Lex, they go by Hot Honors. They were really the new sound for me moving forward with this project. Nic Craven, too. I would say those two were the newer producers that I hadn’t worked with before.

But I got Mike & Keys on this joint, that’s the home team. I got Buda & Grands on this joint, that’s home team. I kind of mixed it up. I’m always working with the home team, but I like to kind of [collaborate with other producers] if somebody got a new sound or something that fits. If it moves and pushes the music forward, I’m all with it.

Aside from those joints, what are like two or three tracks that you’re excited for the fans to hear? Maybe they’re your favorites, or maybe they brought out a certain emotion or mood?

I would definitely say “Stand On That” with Jeremiah. And I would say “Can’t Get Enough” with Jacquees just because I get a lot of feedback about me not really doing a lot of female-driven records. And those two are definitely female-driven. I just can’t wait to see the response to them.

Right. You got any other features besides those?

I got Mozzy on a joint. Skyler Blatt did the outro. Wiz Khalifa, me, and Wiz locked back in. Key Glock. That was the first time me and Key Glock were able to connect. Rest in peace to [Young] Dolph, that’s how I kind of got with Glock, through Dolph. My brother Cruch Calhoun. I got Neek Bucks on there. I got King Streets on there. I got Maino on there. I got some joints on there, man. I don’t want to leave nobody out, but it’s definitely balanced out as far as features.

In addition to Hip-Hop, you’ve also built your resume as an actor. What’s the latest news on those fronts?

I just got cast for a new movie. I can’t really speak on the details and sh*t like that, but maybe later this year or top of ’26, that information will be coming out. I got cast [for another project]. It’s a different type of film, too. A different look for me. So I’m looking forward to that.

You recently appeared on Kai Cenat’s Mafiathon 3 streaming event. How did that opportunity come about, and what was that like tapping into the streaming world?

That was dope. I was in L.A. already running around, getting this album ready to roll out or whatever, and they invited me over there. I f**k with Kai Cenat. I like his whole platform and just what they’re doing for the youth right now.

I feel like for me, that was a great look to premiere the Nipsey record up there because I felt like I brought Nip up there with me, you know what I mean? Big shoutout to the whole streaming world. I like what they’re doing. I like how they’re pushing the culture forward. That was a great opportunity.

What would you say is the best karma you’ve ever had?

The best karma? Just in life?

Yeah, whatever you feel.

(Ponders briefly) I think I put out good energy. I think the way I’ve been with my parents, my mother, my father, my grandmother, all of the people that raised me. I think the way that I’ve been back to them has given me good karma. It’s giving me a great way to navigate through this life.

They always say, ‘Watch how you treat your parents. Watch how you treat your people that really raised you or cared about you.’ So, I think a lot of my good karma comes from just how I am as a father. How I am as a son. How I was as a grandchild. God bless my grandma’s soul. My aunts, my uncles, you know what I mean? I’m always respectful. Nobody’s perfect, but I’ve I’ve always been respectful to those that I know really, truly love me.

I think the karma that I’m seeing from that now is the success. Me being able to live out my dreams and do the things that I once really sat and dreamed about and had no idea how I was going to do it. Now, all that is a part of my reality. I think karma is just putting [out] good. Whatever you put into the universe, it’s going to come back to you. I mean, in some form or fashion. It’ll come back.

Dave East

Laze Cartel

Do you have any plans to tour in support of this album?

Hell yeah. We’re putting that together now. Definitely going to touch overseas with this one. In the U.S., of course. But yeah, we’re putting that together right now.

Do you have any thoughts on any acts that you’ll bring along with you?

I’m not sure right now. I’m going to see.

Will there be a Karma 5, and how long do you plan on keeping the series running?

You know what’s crazy? Somebody asked me that the other day. I feel like the title Karma is something that I could keep going with. But yeah, I don’t know when I’m going to stop that one or when I’m going to do Karma 5.

I’ve got so many other projects and other bodies of work that I’m already cooking up and working on. So, I might tap back into the Karma series later on at another date, but right now, I’m all about Karma 4, intro to outro. That’s what I’m pushing right now.

What’s next for Dave East?

Just more music, man. More acting, me [being] more in the fashion world. Just more of everything that falls under my umbrella. I feel like I’ve branded myself in a way where the sky’s the limit. I could tap into a bunch of different platforms and worlds, and it’s all me.

None of it’s forced. I ain’t sold my soul or none of that weirdo sh*t. I think about just moving forward, watching my daughters grow, sh*t like that. And just branding myself even more as a staple when it comes to New York City and Hip-Hop in general.

Today is Friday, which means there are a ton of new releases to look forward to from some of your favorite Hip-Hop artists. To help you unwind and enjoy the weekend, check out VIBE’s picks of songs and albums you should hear and add to your soundtrack of weekend festivities.

  • Jeezy, DJ Drama – ‘Still Snowin”

Two decades deep into the game, Jeezy still proves he’s “Still Snowin” with a fresh DJ Drama-backed mixtape that’s as reflective as it is rugged.

Riding lush samples from soul’s golden era, this project finds Jeezy digging into his legacy with clarity and grit—what DJ Drama calls “twenty years of greatness, legacy, and excellence.”

Across standout tracks like “Head To The Sky (You Can Win)” and “Keep That Same Energy,” the Snowman rhymes over timeless instrumentals from Sounds of Blackness and Bobby Womack, blending street memoirs with grown-man introspection.

On “The Whole Town,” a track that could easily sit on an official studio album, Jeezy delivers a cinematic performance that captures his evolution from propane-heated homes to courtrooms and solo summers.

“Summer ‘25, single as a bi**h/ ’Nother lawsuit, lawyer with the switch,” he admits, addressing personal fallout with candor, while bars like “I gave the trap everything but my tears” show the weight of the road he’s traveled.

Even when he boasts, “Why they call that ni**a Snow, ‘cause that boy went polar,” there’s wisdom tucked beneath the bravado.

More than nostalgia, Still Snowin is a statement: Jeezy’s pen is sharper, his soul louder, and his story far from finished. Easily one of the week’s strongest releases—this one deserves your ears. – Preezy Brown

  • Dave East Featuring Stove God Cooks – “Bottega Trunks”

Dave East sets a smooth, cinematic tone with “Bottega Trunks,” a laid-back yet lyrical offering that serves as the calm before the storm of his upcoming Karma 4 album, due October 10.

Riding a looped, string-laden sample, East leans into his melodic bag, keeping things suave with flirtatious lines and luxury-laced imagery. Stove God Cooks slides in effortlessly, adding his signature vocal grit and flair to the mix.

An unexpected curve-ball of sorts, “Bottega Trunks” is a vibe-heavy warmup that signals East is sharpening both his pen and palette ahead of the main event. – PB

  • Danny Brown – “Starburst”

With “Starburst,” Danny Brown kicks off the Stardust era in full technicolor chaos—exactly the kind of left-field brilliance we’ve come to expect from one of rap’s most unpredictable minds.

Produced by Holly, the track opens with a jittery, frenetic beat that Brown masterfully weaves through, dropping existential gems like “Present is the past in a second, so count your blessings.”

But just when you think you’ve settled in, the beat flips into a booming, 8-bit-esque sonic shift, and Danny goes full throttle, tearing through the back half like a man possessed.

It’s lyrical, it’s weird, it’s thrilling—and unmistakably Danny Brown. As the first taste of his upcoming Stardust LP (dropping November 7), “Starburst” stands out as one of the week’s strongest releases, blending thought-provoking bars with anarchic energy.

With a 21-city U.S. tour on the horizon, Brown’s gearing up to make a lot more noise—and this is the perfect toss of the gauntlet. – PB

  • Young Thug – Uy Scuti (Supernova Edition)

Young Thug decided that 21 songs weren’t enough, and treated fans to seven more on the “Supernova Edition” of his latest album Uy Scuti.

In it, they got the elusive tracks “Safe” and “Rosetta Stone,” plus a posthumous Lil Keed feature on “I Put A.” These, along with the original offering, prove that Thugger is way sharper than people may have thought.

This album has been polarizing due to heightened expectations and his recent “bad press,” but musically, Uy Scuti is better than Punk and Business Is Business.

One would be hard pressed to find actual critique for the music instead of altered perceptions of Thug as a human being. And that is an unfortunate reality of this current music landscape. – Armon Sadler

  • Gucci Mane – “Only Time”

Gucci Mane “Only Time” cover artGucci Mane “Only Time” cover art

“Only Time” feels like classic Gucci Mane in some ways, and a more modern version in others.

The polished production leans more toward his new iteration, but the signature OG “yeaaaah” ad lib and flow is very much so of the late 2000s and early 2010s Guwop.

Fortunately, he is as locked in as ever lyrically and delivery-wise. He also employs some nice vocal inflections and his vintage, hilarious one-liners.

Most enjoyably, he provides a really good hook. It isn’t easy for rappers to land a good chorus, especially one as long as this, but he nailed it. Longtime Gucci fans won. – AS

  • Kevin Gates – “Fuk Em”

Kevin Gates “Fuk Em” cover artKevin Gates “Fuk Em” cover art
Image Credit: 2025 Bread Winner Alumni LLC under exclusive license to Artist Partner Group, Inc.

Kevin Gates has a message for authorities, h*es, men not in his squad, and seemingly the entire world: “Fuk Em.” The production feels fresh, almost Bossman Dlow-like.

However, Gates makes the record his own with his signature raspy voice and southern drawl, on top of humorous catchphrases. The track loses a bit of momentum toward the middle when he drops the beat out and breathes repeatedly, but he picks things up so it is negligible.

Overall, this is a solid effort and a good hook that is easy to memorize and repeat. It’s hard to say if this will pick up steam in the mainstream, but it’s enjoyable. – AS

  • 41, Kyle Richh, Jenn Carter, Tata – ‘Spleen’

41, Kyle Richh, Jenn Carter, and Tata have answered our call. “Spleen” is a different offering than what they popped off for. The beat isn’t the standard sample drill production with a high BPM.

Instead, it is more slowed down and creates a “vibe.” Their flows have some similarities to their biggest records, but they were attentive to the aura the beat created. They also do a great job distinguishing themselves from one another due to their different pitches, inflections, and nuances in the vocals.

This is a really fun record that may have done some damage during the summer, but hey, you need good music in the fall, too. – AS

  • Coi Leray, Shoreline Mafia – “Act Like You Know”

Coi Leray & Shoreline Mafia “Act Like You Know” cover artCoi Leray & Shoreline Mafia “Act Like You Know” cover art
Image Credit: 2025 Epic Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment, under exclusive license from Trendsetter Studios

Coi Leray continues to show she is one of the more versatile artists today.

“Act Like You Know” featuring Shoreline Mafia feels like a 2014 prime YG record, but she makes it her own with her pleasing melodic tone and unique flows. Shoreline gives a great assist, adding the west coast flair and bounce that has experienced a resurgence in the last year.

In truth, a song like this deserves the same attention as some of the other records that have popped off but starpower and push dictates that. Nonetheless, this is incredibly fun and primed for car rides, dance offs, and basketball highlights. – AS
