Experience the story of India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee in cinemas this December. Woh Ikkis ka tha, Ikkis ka hi rahega. Maddock Films and Dinesh Vijan present Ikkis, directed by National Award–winning filmmaker Sriram Raghavan. Ikkis is the untold true story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra at just 21, honoured posthumously for his unmatched courage and sacrifice during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The trailer of Ikkis, starring Agastya Nanda on the big screen for the first time, is out now.

Ikkis Trailer Out

This is a story of courage, conviction, and the fire of youth — the kind that changes the course of history and reminds us what true bravery looks like. Through Arun’s journey, Ikkis explores questions of morality, mortality, patriotism, and the power of young blood that rises when the nation calls.

As Agastya Nanda steps into the role of a 21-year-old who became immortal, Ikkis marks the return of Sriram Raghavan to the big screen with a moving tribute to a real hero. Continuing Maddock Films’ tradition of bringing the most powerful stories to life, this film is not just a war drama. It is a mirror to the spirit of youth.

Every legendary story starts young. What is your #QissaAtIkkis?

‘Anne Rice’s Talamasca’ Review: AMC Drama Is Disappointing

by jummy84 October 26, 2025
written by jummy84

“Interview With the Vampire,” the opening salvo of AMC’s attempt to turn the oeuvre of fantasy author Anne Rice into a so-called Immortal Universe of television shows, is one of the best shows on air. Smart, sensual and frequently funny, “Interview” manages the balancing act of all great adaptations in both preserving and updating its source material; I ecstatically await a Season 3 styled as a rock documentary about the vampire Lestat (Sam Reid).

This master plan’s sophomore effort, “Mayfair Witches,” has been a relative letdown. The  scattered drama lacks the passion and eccentricity that are the, well, lifeblood of “Interview With the Vampire.” Nor does the starring vehicle for Alexandra Daddario offer a concise, specific take to differentiate itself from Rice’s original — its own version of making Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) a Black man who falls in love with his maker. A second season came and went earlier this year with minimal fanfare.

The third Immortal Universe show, “Anne Rice’s Talamasca: The Secret Order” — which we will refer to from here on out as “Talamasca,” because let’s not be ridiculous — sadly hews closer to “Mayfair” than “Interview” in quality. The six-episode season, which was provided to critics in its entirety, is a disjointed and muddled attempt to turn Rice’s centuries-old secret society into a vehicle for a half-hearted spy thriller. The premiere has a couple bright spots in the form of cameos from “Interview” star Eric Bogosian and, in a confusing but welcome appearance, Jason Schwartzman as a vampire who lives in the penthouse of the Dakota. (Maybe he’s a big Rice fan, if not enough of one to stick around past a single episode.) Once these training wheels come off, though, “Talamasca” never achieves the momentum to chart its own path.

What is the Talamasca, exactly, and what do its members do? Answering these questions would seem to be a basic prerequisite of a show named after the fictional group, but “Talamasca” will leave viewers mostly in the dark. Creator John Lee Hancock (“The Blind Side”) and co-showrunner Mark Lafferty (“Halt and Catch Fire”) position protagonist Guy (Nicholas Denton) as a classic audience surrogate, speed-running a chosen one narrative as the telepath is recruited by mysterious Brit Helen (Elizabeth McGovern, channeling her “Downton Abbey” co-stars) to join the Talamasca in lieu of starting a lucrative law job. Where Guy’s abilities come from and how they fit into this world’s cosmology are never fully explained. Supposedly, the Talamasca are a mortal-led counterweight to paranormal forces like vampires and witches, but they clearly have some supernatural tools of their own.

Guy himself proves as generic a hero as his name. Denton, an Australian who could be cousins with Eddie Redmayne, struggles with his American accent even after his character gets shipped off to London to check in on a Talamasca “mother house” when another operative turns up dead. His training is supposed to take a year, but gets crammed into a week because time is of the essence — a compression that reads like a metaphor for this overstuffed, rushed-feeling season. Guy gets little motivation or personality besides the search for his mother, a fellow telepath he grew up in foster care believing to be dead. It turns out the Talamasca was behind not just his placement with a Florida family, but the scholarships that afforded him an elite education.

As if the Talamasca’s deep pockets and connections weren’t shady enough, Guy keeps getting standard-issue warnings about how “they’re lying to you” and “they can’t be trusted.” These flags come from a slew of secondary characters who abruptly rise and fade in significance as Guy tries to figure out where his loyalties should lie. The constantly shifting allegiances are meant to form a twisty yarn in the aggregate, though the effect is largely just confusing — especially when Helen gets a subplot investigating her own past that distracts from her role as the chilly, withholding boss.

The throughline here is a hunt for a MacGuffin known as the 752, named for the year of the Talamasca’s founding. It’s the backup of an archive that burned 50 years ago in a fire at the organization’s Amsterdam outpost, and Helen is hot on its trail at the same time as Jasper (William Fichtner), a vampire with an axe to grind against the Talamasca. Fichtner is alone in the cast in giving a performance with the flair Rice’s prose deserves, perhaps because only Jasper gets nonsensical-yet-hilarious lines like “You are a flea bouncing off the hard dick of our immortal history!” But Jasper is outnumbered by perfunctory elements like the 752, Guy’s mother and Helen’s own long-lost family, none of which successfully infuse a sense of urgency.

With “Talamasca,” the underwhelming entries in the Immortal Universe now outnumber the exciting ones. Though “Talamasca” ends with enough balls in the air that a Season 2 seems assured, no additional concepts have been ordered to series. Before that happens, some introspection might be in order as to why neither “Mayfair” nor “Talamasca” has measured up to the operatic thrills of “Interview.” Until then, fans will just have to wait for “The Vampire Lestat.”

“Anne Rice’s Talamasca: The Secret Order” will premiere with two episodes on AMC and AMC+ on Oct. 26 at 9 p.m. ET.

New US Trailer for ‘Palestine 36’ Historical Drama with Jeremy Irons

“I don’t want to fight.” “None of us do.” Watermelon Pictures has unveiled their own full US trailer for the acclaimed film Palestine 36, made by Palestinian filmmaker Annemarie Jacir as her fourth feature. This is Palestine’s submission to the Oscars this year and it will open in January. This first premiered at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival last month, and it next plays at AFI Fest and the Denver Film Festival. The film is set during the years 1936 – 1939 following a man going between Jerusalem and his rural home amid escalating unrest with the British Empire rulers at the time. This is just before the Holocaust and the British Mandate in 1947 & 1948 that would lead to the creation of the State of Israel after 1945. Back in 1936, as Palestinian villages revolt against British colonial rule, Yusuf navigates between Jerusalem and his home during unrest and a pivotal moment for the British Empire just before the start of World War II. The historical drama stars Hiam Abbass, Saleh Bakri, Robert Aramayo, Billy Howle, Liam Cunningham, Yasmine Al-Massri, Dafer L’Abidine, Yumna Marwan, Karim Daoud Anaya, & Jeremy Irons as Commissioner Wauchope. This is a better trailer than the other one we posted recently. I really want to see it! Take a look.

Here’s the new official US trailer for Annemarie Jacir’s film Palestine 36, direct from Screen’s YouTube:

Palestine 36 Trailer

Palestine 36 Trailer

You can also view the other UK trailer for Annemarie Jacir’s Palestine 36 film right here for more footage.

Intro from TIFF: “Rare archival footage sets the stage, providing a potent counterpoint to the dramatic action: Jerusalem’s bustling mix of peoples in the wake of the Ottoman Empire’s dissolution, migration of European Jews fleeing the Nazis, and British attempts to impose colonial rule. In the midst of this, Yusuf (Karim Daoud Anaya) shunts between his traditional village & the rapidly changing city. Afra (Wardi Eilabouni) tries to navigate change with the aid of her grandmother (Hiam Abbass). A dissatisfied port worker (Saleh Bakri) finds the pressures of earning a living and supporting his family drawing him into a rebel movement. Can British officialdom, represented powerfully by Irons, even keep up?” Palestine 36, also known as فلسطين ٣٦ in Arabic, is written and directed by the Palestinian filmmaker Annemarie Jacir, director of the films Salt of This Sea, When I Saw You, Wajib, and episodes of the series “Ramy” previously. It’s produced by Ossama Bawardi, Cat Villiers, Azzam Fakhreddin, Hani Farsi, Nils Åstrand, Olivier Barbier, Nathanaël Karmitz, Katrin Pors, Hamza Ali. This initially premiered at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival this fall. Watermelon Pictures will debut Palestine 36 in US theaters starting January 2026. Who’s interested?

5 Indian Stars Perfect For Dev In Brahmāstra 2

5 Indian Stars Who Could Play The Lead In Ayan Mukerji’s Fantasy Drama Sequel

by jummy84 October 22, 2025

5 Actors Who Could Play Dev In Brahmāstra 2 ( Photo Credit – Facebook/YouTube)

After his last film, the Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR starrer action-thriller War 2, underperformed in theaters, filmmaker Ayan Mukerji’s recent social media post sparked speculation about the sequel to Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva. While the massively mounted 2022 film received mixed reviews from critics, it struck the right chord with a large segment of cinephiles, thanks to the lead pair of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt and world-class visual effects.

If the speculation turns out to be true, and the much-anticipated sequel Brahmāstra: Part Two – Dev is indeed happening, the big question is, who will play the titular role this time? Here are five Indian actors who could be a perfect fit to play Dev in Ayan Mukerji’s ambitious second installment of the planned trilogy.

1. Ranveer Singh

Ever since the release of the first Brahmāstra film, many fans have speculated that Ranveer Singh could play Dev, while Deepika Padukone might portray Amrita. The ever-energetic Gully Boy actor, who will next be seen in Aditya Dhar’s spy actioner Dhurandhar, is undoubtedly one of the most exciting choices to bring Dev’s intense and fiery character to life.

What an incredible transformation by Ranveer!

This is why he’s the greatest of this generation ,the actor who gives it his all for every single role. Phenomenal!
I can’t wait for the trailer that will drop on 12th November 2025.

Ranveer Singh is back! 🐐 #Dhurandhar pic.twitter.com/KKEnzDAgcF

— Tony メ𝟶 (@AbelX0) October 16, 2025

2. Hrithik Roshan

While his last film, War 2, also directed by Ayan Mukerji, may not have performed at the box office as expected, one should never underestimate Hrithik Roshan’s star power, box office appeal, and acting prowess. He has the intensity and screen presence needed to portray the formidable Dev in Brahmāstra: Part Two – Dev. If that happens, fans will finally witness two powerhouse performers, Hrithik Roshan and Ranbir Kapoor, sharing screen space for the very first time.

25 years in the industry and he still has the same aura, good looking and charisma. ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥#HrithikRoshan #War2 pic.twitter.com/vmirN5sYUN

— فــ (@Aankhenn_) October 11, 2025

3. Ranbir Kapoor

There is a chance that Ranbir Kapoor himself may play the double role of Shiva and Dev in the sequel. Previously, the Animal actor had played the double role of a father and son in Karan Malhotra’s Shamshera. While the period action drama didn’t do well at the box office, Ranbir Kapoor can turn things around in Brahmāstra: Part Two – Dev. The immensely talented actor is gearing up for his next films: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War and Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana Part One.

Here comes the Superstar Artist Ranbir Kapoor in Animal 🔥#AnimalTrailer #Animal #RanbirKapoor pic.twitter.com/8zf95tCgu5

4. Prabhas

Casting the Baahubali star Prabhas in a big-ticket film like Brahmāstra: Part Two – Dev alongside Ranbir Kapoor would be a dream come true for fans. If it happens, Ayan Mukerji’s sequel could truly become a pan-Indian cinematic spectacle. The Rebel Star is next set to appear in the romantic horror-comedy The RajaSaab, followed by Hanu Raghavapudi’s next and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit.

On our REBEL Fans demand 🤗

5. Jr. NTR

The RRR star Jr. NTR is undoubtedly one of the most intense and talented actors in Indian cinema. His electrifying screen presence was on full display in his recent outing, War 2. Sharing the screen with Ranbir Kapoor could offer audiences a fresh and compelling male lead duo, creating a unique cinematic experience. Jr. NTR fans are also eagerly anticipating his next project with director Prashanth Neel.

I am seeing your love for #War2 and I love you back for it… Incredible to see the public support for our film which we made with a lot of passion. Let’s goooo!@ihrithik @advani_kiara #AyanMukerji @yrf #YRFSpyUniverse pic.twitter.com/fl0eEoO9hK

Sombr Addresses Online Drama After Fan Called His Show ‘Cringe’

by jummy84 October 20, 2025
written by jummy84

Sombr has responded to criticism he received from a concertgoer who apparently “hated” his show at Anthem in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 13, so much so that she recorded a nearly nine-minute TikTok video, which has since gone viral.

“I thought I was chronically online, but it’s just come to my attention that there’s a TikTok drama going around because a 25-year-old attended my concert and was basically complaining that there were too many tweens there, I was making too many brain-rot jokes, and she just thought it was a cringe concert,” Sombr began in his response.

Sombr’s response came a few days after the fan posted her video, in which the 25-year-old began by cautioning anyone planning to attend an upcoming show of his to “not spend your money on a Sombr concert.” She went on to explain that while attending his Washington, D.C. show, she was shocked to find his fanbase was primarily comprised of “tweens,” said she did not enjoy his jokes, and described a segment of the concert called the “Sombr Dating Show,” where he brought audience members onstage to call their exes. She also criticized him, claiming he said “super vulgar stuff about getting his dick sucked” while on stage, and asked his fans to “bark for me” — behavior she felt was inappropriate given his young audience.

She added, “It just doesn’t seem like he knows how to entertain. He’s maybe too young. Maybe he has to grow into it. I don’t know. Dancing was terrible, singing was terrible.”

While she referred to the experience as “a nightmare,” she admitted that the other members of the audience appeared to love it, with one fan apparently saying, “This is my generation’s David Bowie.” She then said, “I’m so sorry, slender man? We’re picking him, we’re picking the weird dancing dude?” whom she likened to Napoleon Dynamite and added that the show was “cringe.”

Editor’s picks

In his response, Sombr accused her of “body shaming” him, saying that “it’s kind of started a massive body shaming hate train directed towards me on a lot of videos of me on the internet right now.”

He went on to say, “I totally respect people having opinions, but I am a 20-year-old artist, freshly 20. And if you’re 25 years old and you’re going to come to my concert and not expect people younger than you to be there, when I, the artist, am five years younger than you, it’s just a skill issue.”

As far as his jokes, Sombr said that people who go to his concerts would be familiar with his online presence, adding, “I’ve never uttered a serious word in my life.” Plus, he said he spends “five minutes” making jokes at his shows, while the rest is music.

Trending Stories

“Live a little, enjoy life,” he continued. “Every age, sex, sexuality, gender, race: Everyone is welcome in my concert, ad I mean everyone. You guys need to find problematic people to hate on, because I am just existing.”

Sombr’s debut album, I Barely Know Her — featuring hits “Back to Friends” and “12 to 12,” both of which he performed at the VMAs — arrived in August. Since his album dropped, his tour, which runs through November, has sold out, and he’s slated as the Saturday Night Live musical guest with host Nikki Glaser on Nov. 8.

Official US Trailer for ‘Cactus Pears’ Romantic Indie Drama from India

“Any special friend in Mumbai?” “The special friend never lasts.” Strand Releasing has debuted an official US trailer for an indie film titled Cactus Pears, a romantic drama about a lost young man connecting with another man. This first premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, then it went on to play at other fests including New Directors/New Films, San Francisco, Taipei, and Melbourne. Anand, a 30-something city dweller compelled to spend a 10-day mourning period for his father in the countryside of western India, tenderly bonds with a local farmer who is struggling to stay unmarried. When the mourning ends, forcing his return, Anand must decide the fate of his relationship born under duress. Described as “a poignant approach to unspoken sorrow.” The film stars Bhushaan Manoj as Anand, Suraaj Suman, and Jayshri Jagtap. After giving it a prize, the Sundance Jury stated: “This is the great modern love story. To say it’s an honor to award this tender film is an understatement. We cried, we laughed, and we wished to be loved in the same way. It is exactly what the world needs right now.” Another tender slice of cinema in 2025.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Rohan Kanawade’s film Cactus Pears, direct from YouTube:

Cactus Pears Film Poster

An Indian family consecrates the loss of its patriarch with a 10-day mourning period that strands Anand (Bhushaan Manoj) in the countryside he long ago deserted for Mumbai. Grief’s common phases (poring over old photos, sharing beloved memories) coexist with local rituals, all while Anand’s hidden desires materialize in a rekindled friendship with childhood companion Balya. Through these experiences, sensual discoveries, and Bhushaan Manoj’s ever-measured performance, [this] emerges as an exquisite character piece perfected by its heartrending finale. Cactus Pears is written and directed by the newcomer Indian filmmaker Rohan Kanawade, making his feature directorial debut after a few other short films previously. Produced by Naren Chandavarkar, Neeraj Churi, Mohamed Khaki, Sidharth Meer, Kaushik Ray, Hareesh Reddypalli, Rohan Kanawade. This initially premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, where it won the World Cinema Grand Jury prize. Strand Releasing will debut Kanawade’s Cactus Pears film in select US theaters starting on November 21st, 2025 this fall. For more info, visit their official site.

“Human touch is transient. God’s touch lasts.” I don’t know about that? Kino Lorber debuted the official US trailer for a Slovenian indie drama titled Little Trouble Girls, which is getting a small release in limited theaters later this year. Hailing from the Eastern European country of Slovenia, Little Trouble Girls is made by Urška Djukić and it played at the Berlin, Tribeca, Sydney, Karlovy Vary, Melbourne, and Edinburgh Film Festivals this year. 16-year-old Lucia joins Catholic school choir, befriends senior Ana-Maria. During choir retreat at convent, Lucia’s attraction to a restoration worker creates tension with Ana-Maria and challenges her faith. This stunning coming-of-age feature debut by this Slovenian filmmaker won Best Cinematography at Tribeca. Starring Jara Sofija Ostan, Mina Svajger, and Sasa Tabakovió. Early reviews state the film “echoes the sensitivities of Céline Sciamma’s early coming-of-age stories but with a bold, cinematic bent.” Worth adding to the watchlist if you’re into discovering new filmmaking from around the world. View below.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Urška Djukić’s film Little Trouble Girls, direct from YouTube:

At her mother’s urging, introverted 16-year-old Lucia (Jara Sofija Ostan) joins her Catholic school’s all-girls choir, where she befriends Ana-Maria (Mina Svajger), a popular older student. When the choir goes to a countryside convent for a weekend retreat of intensive rehearsals, Lucia navigates the unfamiliar surroundings, complex teenage social structures, and her own awakening sexuality. A series of initiations, including an eye-opening experience with a handsome construction worker, test Lucia’s friendship with Ana-Maria and the other girls, as she begins to question her beliefs and disrupt the harmony within the choir. Little Trouble Girls is directed by Slovenian filmmaker Urska Djukic, making her feature directorial debut after a few other short films. The screenplay is by Urska Djukic and Marina Gumzi; with support from Maria Bohr and Geoffroy Grison. Produced by David Cej and Jozko Rutar. This initially premiered at the 2025 Berlin & Tribeca Film Festivals earlier this year. VertiGo Sets the Stage for the Future of Storytelling at LA Vertical Drama Market

by jummy84 October 17, 2025
written by jummy84

Los Angeles witnessed a cinematic shift on Wednesday, September 24, as the LA Vertical Drama Market, hosted by VertIGo/Dana Productions, took center stage. The groundbreaking event brought together filmmakers, producers, and digital innovators to celebrate and explore the rise of vertical storytelling, a format that’s rapidly transforming Hollywood’s creative landscape.

At its heart, the LA Vertical Drama Market was a convergence of vision and opportunity. Hosted by Dana Protsyshak, founder of VertIGo, the event gathered a new generation of storytellers determined to challenge convention and embrace innovation. “People were skeptical about verticals at first, but now they want in. Entertainment is changing and you need to adapt to it,” said Dana, reflecting on how the once-dismissed format has become one of the most exciting frontiers in modern filmmaking.

The LA Vertical Drama Market evolved from Dana’s successful VertIGo Vertical Mixers, six of which were hosted earlier in 2025, and represented a natural expansion of her mission to unite creatives working on vertical projects.

“I felt the need to shape the industry around verticals, build the community of creatives who work on verticals and introduce verticals to Hollywood,” Dana explained. “When I was starting in the film industry, attending film festivals and markets gave me lots of insights into the industry and helped me navigate my career as well as meet new people. All this combined shaped the LA Vertical Drama Market.”

Throughout the night, conversations buzzed around the artistic possibilities and challenges that come with the vertical frame, once seen as a social media quirk, now recognized as a powerful storytelling tool. “Vertical frame opens up new opportunities and challenges creatives to explore new ways of telling stories,” Dana shared.

The event also tackled the lingering doubts about the medium. “The ghost of Quibi begins to disappear thanks to the buzz verticals are getting, encouraging filmmakers to explore verticals from a fresh perspective. More and more traditional filmmakers open up to the opportunities verticals give,” she said, addressing how vertical filmmaking is carving out a serious place in the entertainment industry.

The LA Vertical Drama Market wasn’t just an event, it was a declaration. By bridging the gap between Hollywood insiders, independent creators, and digital visionaries, VertIGo set the stage for a new cinematic language.

As the night wrapped in Los Angeles, one message was clear: vertical storytelling isn’t the next big thing, it’s the new normal, shaping Hollywood’s next wave of creativity.
