Fortis Delhi gastroenterologist warns ‘chia seeds are not for everyone’; shares who should avoid this popular superfood

by jummy84 October 24, 2025
written by jummy84

Chia seeds are everywhere these days, from smoothies to breakfast bowls, everyone seems to be raving about them. Packed with fibre, protein, and omega-3s, they’re often called a superfood. But are they really good for everyone?

Gastroenterologist highlights risks of chia seeds for those with health conditions. (Freepik)

Dr Shubham Vatsya, gastroenterologist and hepatologist, Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj, Delhi, in his October 23 Instagram post, explains why chia seeds might not suit every diet and who should be careful.(Also read: Dehradun gastroenterologist warns you should never depend on ‘tea or coffee’ for morning bowel movements )

“Stop overhyping chia seeds. Certain groups of people need to be extra careful with them,” says Dr Vatsya. He further breaks down who should approach chia seeds with caution:

1. People with high blood pressure

Dr Vatsya points out that chia seeds are rich in potassium and omega-3s, which can affect blood pressure and heart function. Those with high blood pressure should monitor their intake carefully.

2. People on blood thinners

“For people taking medications like aspirin, the omega-3 content in chia seeds can further thin the blood and increase the risk of bleeding,” he explains.

3. Those with digestive issues

According to Dr Vatsya, if you already suffer from bloating, gas, or IBS, chia seeds can worsen stomach cramps and discomfort.

4. Kidney patients

“Chia seeds contain high levels of potassium and phosphorus, which can be harmful for patients with kidney problems. Such individuals should avoid chia seeds completely,” he explains.

Dr Vatsya concludes, “While chia seeds can be beneficial for many, they are not a one-size-fits-all superfood. Knowing your health condition and consulting a doctor can help you enjoy them safely without any risks.”

New Delhi, The fourth edition of the Autumn Festival 2025, a prelude to Nagaland’s iconic Hornbill Festival, will commence here on Friday, showcasing the Northeastern state’s rich tribal culture, traditional music, and cuisine, among others.

Autumn Festival, a prelude to Nagaland’s Hornbill Festival, to begin in Delhi on Friday

The two-day event, to be held at the Nagaland House here, will offer visitors a glimpse of the state’s vibrant culture through dance performances and handicrafts, an official statement said.

Nagaland’s Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along, said the festival celebrates the Naga tribes each with its own history, culture and unique traditions.

“Through this event, we aim to bring the beauty and essence of Nagaland’s heritage to the people of Delhi. On behalf of the chief minister of Nagaland, I warmly invite everyone to experience this festival and join us in celebrating unity in diversity,” he said.

The event will be graced by Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra, along with ambassadors and representatives from various countries, including Ireland and Thailand.

Along said the world-renowned Hornbill Festival known as the ‘Festival of Festivals’ will be held at Kisama heritage village in Nagaland from December 1 to 10, featuring participation from all 17 major tribes of the state, partner countries and partner states.

“Nagaland’s tourism policy is being made more visitor-friendly. We welcome all those who wish to experience the natural beauty, culture, and warmth of our people. The participation of international delegates and ambassadors this year adds a special dimension to our celebration,” he said.

To make travel easier for visitors, the Inner Line Permit process is being simplified, and a dedicated helpline will be launched at Nagaland House in New Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati to assist travellers, the statement said.

Tourists can also apply online for the ILP through the designated portal indianfrro.gov.in/eservices, it said.

Delhi Crime Season 3 Trailer Out!

Delhi Crime Season 3 Trailer Out! ‘Madam Sir’ Shefali Shah, ‘Badi Didi’ Huma Qureshi Face Off In The Biggest Case And A Nationwide Chase- Watch

by jummy84 October 16, 2025
written by jummy84

Two forces on either side of the law, a crime that traverses the span of the country and beyond, and a chase that reveals the hidden realities of society around us. Netflix India’s acclaimed International Emmy-winning true crime drama series returns on November 13, for a third season with their biggest case that rattles not just the capital, but the entire nation. Madam Sir, reprised by Shefali Shah, and her formidable team come face-to-face with Badi Didi (Huma Qureshi) – the ruthless mastermind who builds her empire by trading away the future of young girls. An abandoned baby unravels a trail so deadly it exposes the brutal realities of human trafficking, setting off a harrowing nationwide cat and mouse chase in pursuit of the perpetrators.

Delhi Crime Season 3 To Release On November 13

Tanuj Chopra returns to direct Delhi Crime S3, along with actors Shefali Shah, Rasika Dugal (as Neeti Singh), Rajesh Tailang (as Bhupendra Singh), Jaya Bhattacharya (as Vimla Baradwaj) and Anuraag Arora (as Jairaj Singh) reprising their roles. The cast is joined by Huma Qureshi, Sayani Gupta, Mita Vasisht, Kelly Dorji and Anshumaan Pushkar in powerful performances that bring to life the series’ most thrilling season yet.

Shefali Shah, reprising her role as DCP Vartika Chaturvedi, shares, “Returning as Madam Sir always feels deeply personal. Her significance, both to me and in today’s times, has only grown stronger in my eyes. Vartika is fighting an enemy that not only crosses borders, but also exists in the shadow of everyday society. Human trafficking isn’t the act of a few; it’s the symptom of a society that looks the other way. But Vartika, true to who she is, keeps fighting anyway, even if it means saving just one life from the clutches of this murky world.”

Huma Qureshi, joining the franchise as Meena, shares, “Playing a negative role, especially of a character like Meena, was a powerful yet unsettling experience. She’s shaped by trauma, yet wields immense control; she’s a woman who’s both victim and perpetrator.. That’s what drew me to Delhi Crime: its honesty. It never glorifies or sensationalises. It forces us to confront uncomfortable truths that often hide in plain sight. ”

Delhi Crime returns with a real and urgent chapter as the lines between duty, morality, and survival blur in this gripping new case. As threads of a nationwide conspiracy unravel, can Madam Sir stay one step ahead of the crime? Delhi Crime Season 3 premieres November 13, only on Netflix.

Hrithik Roshan Gets Relief From Unauthorised AI Content From Delhi HC- Deets Inside

by jummy84 October 15, 2025
written by jummy84

Hrithik Roshan has recently joined the growing list of celebrities who have taken legal steps to protect their personality rights. While it may seem like a trend among public figures, safeguarding personality rights is crucial, especially in the age of artificial intelligence.

Hrithik Roshan Gets Relief As Delhi High Court Protects Personality Rights

According to Lakshmikumaran Sridharan Attorneys, the term ‘celebrity’ is often seen as a mark of success and honour. Athletes and artists earn it through talent, businesspeople and TV personalities through wit, politicians via votes, and some acquire it by birth or chance involvement in high-profile events.

When celebrities seek to protect their personality rights, there are two key aspects: first, the right to prevent unauthorised commercial use of their image, known as publicity rights under intellectual property law; and second, the right to privacy, which is the right to be left alone.

According to a Law Beat report, Hrithik was granted relief by the Delhi High Court, which directed the removal of certain posts infringing on his personality rights, including unauthorized use of his name, image, and likeness. However, the court declined to order the immediate takedown of fan pages dedicated to him, stating that fans’ pages cannot be removed at this stage without proper proceedings.

Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora explained that fan clubs should be given a chance to respond, and the matter will be revisited on March 27, 2026.

Which Celebs Have Sought Personal Rights?

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was among the first to legally defend her personality rights, followed by her husband Abhishek Bachchan, Karan Johar, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, and journalist Sudhir Chaudhary. Now, Hrithik Roshan has also taken legal action.
