‘That’s Akshay Kumar’s monthly salary’: Comedian Sapan Verma jokes about Aamir Khan rejecting over ₹100 crore OTT deal

In August, Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aditi Rao Hydari, Jaideep Ahlawat and several others attended the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM), with photos and videos from the event quickly surfacing online. Comedian Sapan Verma hosted the awards night and has now shared a video of his opening monologue, where he roasted stars including Aamir, Malaika and Abhishek.

Comedian Sapan Verma roasted Aamir Khan.

Sapan Verma roasts Aamir Khan

The video began with Sapan poking fun at Aamir Khan’s relentless promotion of Sitaare Zameen Par. He said, “Aamir Khan, as we all know, was so good this year in all the 450 interviews he did to promote Sitaare Zameen Par. Sir, you did so much promotion at one point, I was worried. My doorbell rang, I thought you had personally come to tell me to watch the film.”

He further joked about Aamir rejecting a ₹100 crore OTT deal and added, “Aamir sir made history, an iconic move. He has released this film directly on YouTube. I have heard that you declined an offer of more than ₹100 crore from an OTT platform for this move. ₹100 crore. You know what that means, right? Akshay Kumar’s monthly salary.”

Aamir indeed gave multiple interviews to promote Sitaare Zameen Par. Later, he announced that the film would not be released on any OTT platform. Reports suggested that he had turned down an offer of ₹120 crore from Amazon Prime Video for its digital rights. Eventually, Aamir released the film on YouTube, charging viewers ₹100.

Speaking about his decision, Aamir said, “This was the reason why I did not give away the rights of my film Sitaare Zameen Par, as this plan was in motion. Our plan is to release every film under the Aamir Khan Production banner on YouTube, after they complete their theatrical run. Each movie will be available at a minimal cost of ₹100.”

About Sitaare Zameen Par

Directed by RS Prasanna, the sports comedy-drama is a spiritual successor to Khan’s 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par. It stars Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh in lead roles alongside 10 debutant actors, all of whom are specially abled. An official remake of the 2018 Spanish film Campeones, it follows a suspended basketball coach who must serve community service by helping a team of players with disabilities prepare for a tournament.

The film received positive reviews from both critics and audiences, emerging as a box-office success with earnings of ₹267.52 crore against a budget of ₹122 crore.

IFFM winners

At IFFM, Aamir Khan was honoured with the prestigious Excellence in Cinema Award. Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound won big, taking home both Best Film and Best Director. Abhishek Bachchan bagged Best Actor (Film) for I Want To Talk, while Jaideep Ahlawat won Best Actor (Series) for Paatal Lok Season 2.

Can neck pain lead to an intense headache? Neurologist explains why it happens and how to deal with it

by jummy84 September 11, 2025
written by jummy84

If you have ever felt a throbbing headache that starts at the base of your skull and travels up your head, your neck might be to blame. A lesser-known but significant cause of headaches is cervicogenic pain, headaches that originate from issues in the neck. Unlike migraines or tension headaches, these are secondary headaches, meaning they result from an underlying problem, often involving the spine or muscles in the neck. Long hours hunched over screens, poor posture, or even sleeping the wrong way can be enough to trigger this condition. We spoke to Dr Sheetal Goyal, consultant neurologist at Wockhardt Hospitals, who explains how neck pain and headaches can be more closely linked than you might think.

Neck pain and headaches are often connected!(Adobe Stock)

What is a cervicogenic headache?

A cervicogenic headache is a type of headache that starts in the neck and radiates to the head. Unlike primary headaches like migraines or tension headaches, cervicogenic headaches are secondary, meaning they result from another medical issue, specifically, problems in the cervical spine (neck).

“With a cervicogenic headache, the pain you feel in your head originates from the bony structures or soft tissues in your neck. It is a type of secondary headache, which is a headache caused by an underlying problem in your neck,” explains Dr Goyal to Health Shots.

In many cases, this is a form of referred pain, where the actual problem lies in one part of the body, but the discomfort is felt elsewhere. So, while the pain may feel like it is in your head, the root cause is actually your neck.

What are the symptoms of cervicogenic headache?

Cervicogenic headaches often begin with stiffness or tightness in the neck, followed by pain that spreads to the back of the head, the temples, or even behind the eyes. “This pain can be moderate to severe, but it won’t be extremely painful,” says Dr Goyal. You may also experience:

  • Dizziness
  • Blurred vision
  • Limited range of motion in the neck

The headache may worsen with certain neck movements or when pressure is applied at the base of the skull. These symptoms can be easily overlooked or mistaken for a migraine or tension headache, which makes awareness and proper diagnosis all the more important.

Is poor posture the only cause of cervicogenic headache?

Poor posture is a major contributor, but not the only one. Long hours slouching over desks, laptops, or phones can strain the neck and upper spine. However, other factors include:

  • Sleeping in an unnatural position
  • Whiplash or sudden jerky neck movements
  • Cervical arthritis
  • Disc issues in the neck
  • Muscle strain

“Those who work for extended periods leaning forward over a computer or phone are particularly susceptible, as the frequent forward bend places constant stress on the cervical spine,” suggests Dr Goyal.

Neglecting these signs can lead to chronic neck issues, recurring headaches, and even reduced mobility over time. Long-term strain can also weaken neck muscles and reduce flexibility.

How to manage or treat cervicogenic headache at home?

Mild cases of cervicogenic headache can often be managed with simple, at-home remedies:

  • Warm compress: It can help loosen tight muscles.
  • Gentle stretching: It improves flexibility and reduces stiffness.
  • Proper posture: Sit upright and use a pillow that supports the neck well.
  • Frequent breaks: Avoid sitting for too long. Instead, get up and stretch regularly.
  • Over-the-counter painkillers: OTC pain relief can help, but only for short-term use. Always take a doctor’s advice before consuming any painkillers.
  • Physical therapy: A daily exercise plan from a physiotherapist can strengthen neck muscles and prevent recurrence.

Remember that persistent pain should never be ignored, and relying solely on painkillers without addressing the underlying issue may offer only temporary relief.

Earth’ Star Samuel Blenkin Breaks Down Boy Kavalier’s Shady Deal With Yutani in Episode 6 (Exclusive)

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Alien: Earth, Season 1 Episode 6, “The Fly.”]

Alien: Earth continues to explore the growing tensions between corporations Prodigy and Weyland-Yutani in the show’s latest installment, “The Fly,” which stages a pivotal negotiation between Boy Kavalier (Samuel Blenkin) and Yutani (Sandra Yi Sencindiver).

As viewers recall, Episode 5 revealed that Boy Kavalier’s Prodigy had infiltrated and orchestrated the crash of USCSS Maginot on Earth, with the intention of claiming the alien cargo aboard it. Finally, the corporations come face to face at a hearing during which Kavalier sits back and throws his bare feet up on the table.

Yutani makes the argument that the cargo aboard the ship is Weyland-Yutani property that must be returned, while Kavalier lays out the reality of that cargo in front of a mediator representing the governance known as the Five; he is gaslighting to the extreme, suggesting Yutani aimed to attack Prodigy territory.

Patrick Brown / FX

While Kavalier agrees to deliver Yutani’s ship back to her, so long as it doesn’t knock over his building further, the pair end up in a bidding war over the extraterrestrial cargo. Kavalier argues that if she wants it back, she’ll have to pay, as he drives the price higher and higher. Yutani goes so far as to offer $50 billion, to which he seems to agree, before reminding her she can retrieve it after the required quarantine.

“He’s going into this meeting with that little trick up his sleeve, which gives a little bit of light in your eyes as you go in,” Blenkin tells TV Insider about Kavalier’s approach to the pivotal conversation. “But I think also he’s just a character who doesn’t believe it’s possible for him to lose,” Blenkin adds.

In a way, Blenkin notes that the blind confidence his character carries likely comes from a place in which he’s never really faced consequences. “The recklessness goes so far because I don’t think he’s ever had anything come back to bite him in his life. We all go through those little moments in our lives when we have our little comeuppances, and what’s funny about him is that he hasn’t learned many lessons.”

According to the star, during filming, “We didn’t really have air conditioning in there, so it was hot and intense, and it really felt like a kind of pressure cooker situation.” Despite the tense nature of the conversation, though, Blenkin notes, “Sandra and I had a great time.” The scene was almost more extreme as well as Blenkin reveals when he was rehearsing with director Ugla Hauksdóttir, “I had the idea of getting up on the table and stuff… she let me push it a little bit too far.”

Ultimately, he says, “I got up on the table and she was like, I’m not sure if it’s gonna work because it’s meant to be a business meeting, it’s a professional meeting.” Still, Blenkin adds, “My instinct with this character is that you might as well just go the whole hog as long as the performance is not completely like a caricature. He’s an affected person because he’s his own hero in his own hero’s journey.”

Perhaps that explains Boy Kavalier’s fascination with Peter Pan, whose stories he reads over the intercoms to his hybrid creations. The choice to interpret the text for his own narrative is something Blenkin says is “quite on trend.”

“In this case, a trillionaire… having a really formative reading experience that he’s clearly really attached to this book, but completely misinterpreting the point of the book. I really love that.  I love that he doesn’t even stop to think twice about whether the book might have a different meaning,” Blenkin adds, hinting at his impressionable and mostly indestructible hybrids.

What will playing with aliens and Yutani mean for Boy Kavalier? Stay tuned to find out and let us know what you thought of his deal-making moment in the comments section.

I feel a great deal of responsibility

by jummy84 September 8, 2025
written by jummy84

8 September 2025

Lorde feels “a great deal of responsibility” to her fans.

Lorde has overhauled her lifestyle

The 28-year-old star was just 16 years old when she released Pure Heroine, her debut album, back in 2013, and Lorde now admits that she struggled to cope with the pressures of fame and success during her younger years.

The Royals hitmaker – who split from music executive Justin Warren in late 2023 – told Dazed: “I feel like I had a good, healthy teen experience. I never got wasted or ran around. It wasn’t that. But I did put a lot of pressure on myself. And I very quickly understood that, being in this role, you have a duty to a lot of people.

“I really felt – and feel – a great deal of responsibility. But also, in my personal life, I was around people who were quite a lot older. I moved into this house that was like one you’d have kids in – kind of suburban, swish. It wasn’t until I got out of my relationship in 2023 that I was like, ‘Hang on, I’m 26, and I think my life could reflect that a bit more.’ Then I let a lot of new things in and found a lot of things that make me feel good.”

Lorde has overhauled her lifestyle in recent years and she’s now feeling better than she has done in years.

The chart-topping explained that she’s “an artist all the time now”.

Discussing how her lifestyle has evolved in recent years, Lorde shared: “I think my life’s got a lot more physical. I started swimming a lot at that time, and biking as well. It sounds small, but if you’re on a bike for an hour a day, it’s one more hour you’re connected to your physicality, not just staring at your phone.

“Also, I’d had this thing growing up where I was really compartmentalised – my art self and my non-art self. When I was home in New Zealand, I wasn’t an artist. And then I would become an artist when I left. I’ve completely busted that – I’m an artist all the time now.”

How Kelly Stafford, Matt Stafford Deal With Family Rumors

by jummy84 September 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Kelly Stafford doesn’t have the luxury of staying in the pocket.

The wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford knew that starting her podcast The Morning After and becoming a more public figure would result in a super-charged level of scrutiny—of her and her family—but such is the life of a modern WAG these days.

A term, incidentally, that Kelly is all for redefining.

“I’m pretty old now in this game. Sometimes it’s tough to figure out the similarities with the young one or the young wives coming in or girlfriends,” the 36-year-old said on an August episode of Sydney Leroux and Ali Riley‘s BFFR podcast. “But obviously, it’s best if we do get together because that’s the community.”

And “being the quarterback’s wife,” Kelly noted, “there is a responsibility there.”

Yet while the mother of four daughters with Matt—twins Sawyer and Chandler, 8, plus Hunter, 7, and Tyler, 5—always expected to manage the home team during football season, she’s also often the family’s first line of defense when it comes to protecting them from unnecessary roughness online.

SHAHRUKH KHAN’S DAUGHTER IN TROUBLE!” – Suhana Khan Faces Probe Over Land Deal! | Glamsham.com

by jummy84 September 3, 2025
written by jummy84

Suhana Khan, daughter of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and designer Gauri Khan, has found herself in the middle of a land acquisition controversy while filming her theatrical debut King. The 25-year-old actress is under investigation for a high-value land deal in Maharashtra’s Alibaug, involving property originally allotted to farmers.

Details of the Land Transaction

According to official records, Suhana purchased land in Thal village, Alibaug, through Deja Vu Farms Pvt Ltd, a company linked to Gauri Khan’s family. The deal, worth ₹12.91 crore, was completed in May 2023, with stamp duty of ₹77.46 lakh paid via Standard Chartered Bank. The land was reportedly bought from the Khote family of Mumbai’s Cuffe Parade.

The controversy arises from claims that the land was granted to farmers under the Maharashtra Agricultural Land (Ceiling on Holdings) Act, 1961. Under this law, such agricultural plots cannot be sold to non-farmers without prior government approval, and require a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the local Tehsildar or District Collector. Reports also allege that Suhana was listed as a “farmer” in official documents, raising concerns of misrepresentation.

Probe Initiated

Following these allegations, the Resident Deputy Collector has ordered an impartial inquiry. The Alibaug Tehsildar has been tasked with submitting a detailed report, and the investigation is currently underway. Meanwhile, Suhana is also reported to have acquired another seafront property in the same region worth around ₹10 crore, though it is not yet confirmed if this purchase is under scrutiny.

Professional Front

On the career side, Suhana made her OTT debut with The Archies. She is now preparing for her big-screen debut in Siddharth Anand’s King, co-starring Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, and Jaideep Ahlawat. The film is slated for release next year.

Fox Corp. And YouTube TV Strike Carriage Deal, Ending Threat Of Blackout

Fox Corp. And YouTube TV Strike Carriage Deal, Ending Threat Of Blackout

by jummy84 August 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Fox Corp. and YouTube TV have agreed on a renewed carriage agreement, ending the threat of a blackout that would have affected a major college football game and potentially the start of the NFL season.

The companies did not release details or offer anything more than a brief statement affirming that the Fox broadcast network, Fox News, plus six other networks and more than two dozen local stations will remain active. YouTube TV, which launched in 2017, is now a leading pay-TV provider, with more than 8 million subscribers.

As the Wednesday afternoon contract deadline approached, Fox and YouTube agreed on a short-term extension to continue negotiating, indicating a resolution was imminent.

Fox will carry a highly anticipated college football matchup on Saturday between Ohio State and Texas, the first time since 2017 that the No. 1 team in the polls has faced No. 3 in Week 1 of the season. The NFL season, which starts next Thursday, often sees its biggest ratings of a given week with Fox’s late-afternoon NFC window.

As the saber-rattling began in recent days, YouTube TV told its customers they would have the option to sign up for Fox’s just-launched subscription streaming outlet Fox One in the event of a blackout. The pay-TV operator was also promising a $10 credit on subscribers’ bills.

More than most of its media rivals, Fox is heavily dependent upon linear carriage, and has secured significant carriage fee increases in recent years despite the ongoing shrinkage of the pay-TV bundle. Historically, the company has been aggressive in seeking fee increases and this time of year it has a strong hand, with Fox News ratings robust and the Fox broadcast network entering its prime season. In addition to college football and the NFL, Fox also has carried Major League Baseball playoffs and the World Series in October for the past two-plus decades and it has remained a strong ratings draw.

The impasse got the attention of FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, who expressed impatience with it even though his agency does not have jurisdiction in carriage disputes.

“Google removing Fox channels from YouTube TV would be a terrible outcome,” Carr posted on X. “Millions of Americans are relying on YouTube to resolve this dispute so they can keep watching the news and sports they want – including this week’s Big Game: Texas @ Ohio State. Get a deal done Google!”

YouTube responded with its own post on X: “We love football too @brendancarrfcc! We’re working hard to negotiate a deal that’s fair to Fox, our valued subscribers and all of our partners. Stay tuned.”

CW, Pac-12 Extend Rights Deal Through 2030-31 Season

by jummy84 August 27, 2025
written by jummy84

Nexstar’s CW Network and the Pac-12 Conference are continuing their team-up –even if some of the teams associated with the group are no longer present

The broadcast network and the collegiate-sports league have extended their current rights deal through the 2030-31 season. Under terms of the pact, the CW will televise 13 regular-season football games next year, during the 2026-27 season, along with regular-season telecasts of 35 men’s basketball games and 15 women’s basketball games. CW will also get to telecast the semifinal and championship games for the new Pac-12 women’s basketball tournament. Pac-12 Enterprises, the broadcast production arm of the conference, will produce all football, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball games, totaling 66 events annually.

The original Pac-12 fell apart last year when USC and UCLA, and then others, exited for other groups. Those maneuvers left Oregon State and Washington State as the group’s only members. The new grouping, which launches in 2026, will also feature Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, and Utah State. Gonzaga will join for sports not tied to football and Texas State will serve as an joins as the eighth football member. Pac-12 has already struck a deal with CBS Sports to show some of its games.

“The Pac-12 has been a key partner in the success of CW Sports, and we are thrilled to solidify our relationship with the conference for an additional five years,” said Brad Schwartz, president of The CW Network, in a statement. “We have experienced firsthand the passion of the Oregon State and Washington State football programs and their dedicated fans and we are eager to introduce an additional seven schools in the new Pac-12 to our nationwide CW Sports audience. We are also excited to bring Pac-12 men’s and women’s basketball to our viewers featuring some of the most dynamic and celebrated collegiate programs in the country.”

Pac-12 has been on CW since the 2024 football season, and will be telecast by the network in 2025. The CW’s most-watched college football game of the year was the matchup between Washington State and Oregon State in Corvallis.

“The Pac-12’s partnership with The CW has been one of mutual growth and transformation, from the development of our Pac-12 Enterprises’ broadcast production business to the significant added value and positive impact to our current and future members via true national reach across 100% of U.S. television households,” said Teresa Gould, the Pac-12 commissioner, in a statement.
