Kapil Sharma’s Faces Rs 25 Crore Lawsuit Over ‘Baburao’ Impersonation

by jummy84 September 22, 2025
written by jummy84

Producer Firoz A Nadiadwala has issued a legal notice demanding ₹25 crore from Netflix and the creators of The Great Indian Kapil Show. The lawsuit alleges that the popular comedy show used Paresh Rawal’s iconic “Baburao Ganpatrao Apte” character from the beloved Hera Pheri franchise without obtaining proper permission. This legal action comes just as The Great Indian Kapil Show is set to air its final episode, featuring superstar Akshay Kumar as a guest. The controversy initially erupted when comedian Kiku Sharda impersonated the character, a role made eternally famous by Paresh Rawal. Nadiadwala, who unequivocally holds the rights to the character, claims that this portrayal was carried out without his essential consent, sparking a major debate about copyright and character ownership in the entertainment industry.

Nadiadwala emphatically stated that nobody has the right to exploit the character of Baburao for wrongful commercial gain. As reported by News 18, he asserted, “Baburao is not just a character, but the soul of Hera Pheri. This legacy was built with our sweat, vision, and creativity, and no one can hijack or misuse it without our permission.” His statement underscores the deep emotional and creative investment he and his team have in the Hera Pheri franchise and its iconic characters. The producer also highlighted Paresh Rawal‘s dedication to the role, emphasizing the actor’s profound contribution. “Paresh Rawalji nurtured the role and put his heart and soul into it. No one has the right to misuse it for wrongful commercial gain. We will protect what we have created because culture is not for exploitation, it is for preservation,” he added, making a strong case for the protection of creative intellectual property.

Legal Ramifications and Demands for Resolution

The legal notice meticulously outlines several alleged violations, pinpointing specific sections of Indian law. These include copyright infringement under Section 51 of the Copyright Act, 1957, which deals with unauthorized use of copyrighted works, and trademark infringement under Section 29 of the Trademarks Act, protecting registered brand identities. The complaint further cites infringement of exclusive rights under Section 14 of the Copyright Act, which comprehensively covers communication of a work to the public and its inclusion in films. According to Nadiadwala’s legal team, led by Sana Raees Khan, the character of Baburao is not merely an iconic role but also a registered trademark explicitly owned by his family. This detail significantly strengthens their legal position, as trademark registration provides robust protection against unauthorized use for commercial purposes.

Demand is Straight: ‘Remove Baburao’s Bit from the Show’

In the legal notice, Nadiadwala’s team has laid down clear and stringent demands. They have called for the immediate removal of the segment featuring the Baburao impersonation from Netflix and all associated third-party channels and social media platforms where it might have been distributed. Furthermore, the notice seeks a written assurance from Netflix and the show’s creators that the character will not be used again in the future without explicit authorization from Nadiadwala. They have also demanded a public apology within 24 hours, emphasizing the seriousness of the alleged infringement and the need for prompt rectification.

Sana Raees Khan, the lawyer representing Firoz A Nadiadwala, underscored the gravity of the matter, issuing a stern warning to those who might consider creative works as free-for-all. She stated, “The unauthorized use of my client’s iconic character is not just infringement; it is blatant theft for commercial gain.” Her remarks highlight the legal team’s strong stance against what they perceive as a clear violation of intellectual property rights. Khan further elaborated on the legal principles at play, adding, “The law will not allow the dilution of rights that have been lawfully earned and zealously protected. These rights will be defended with the full force of legal action so that no one treats a creative legacy as a free commodity for exploitation.” This assertive legal position indicates that Nadiadwala is prepared to pursue all available legal avenues to protect his creative assets and set a precedent against similar infringements in the future.

About Kapil Sharma Comedy Show

The Great Indian Kapil Show, which has been streaming on Netflix, airs its episodes on Saturdays at 8 pm. The lawsuit introduces a significant legal challenge for the show just as its first season concludes, potentially impacting future collaborations and setting a precedent for character rights in the burgeoning digital entertainment space.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Defies Odds, Rakes In Rs 2 Crore On Day 8 Despite Jolly LLB 3’s Release | Glamsham.com

written by jummy84

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle swept the Indian box office away since its release on September 12. The newest anime installment in the much-loved franchise opened at an amazing ₹12.25 crore net, becoming the biggest-grossing anime film in India overnight. It has also beaten the lifetime collections of big hits Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and Suzume, creating a new benchmark for Japanese animation in India.

The film continued its strong momentum through the opening weekend, raking in ₹38.95 crore net. Although it witnessed a gradual decline during weekdays, Infinity Castle still managed a solid first-week total of ₹53.20 crore net. Directed by Haruo Sotozaki, the anime’s gripping storyline and loyal fanbase helped it maintain traction.

As it crossed its second weekend, the movie earned an estimated ₹2 crore net on the second Friday, taking the 8-day overall to ₹55.20 crore net. Though the collections are declining, there is hope for a turnaround over the weekend.

With competition from Bollywood’s Jolly LLB 3 featuring Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, Demon Slayer can expect limited but consistent growth. If it maintains its present trajectory, trade analysts believe that it can achieve ₹80 crore net towards the end of its theatrical life — a great achievement for an anime title in India.

This success marks a turning point for Japanese anime in the Indian market. With such soaring reception, audiences can probably anticipate more theatrical releases from hit shows like One Piece, Chainsaw Man, and Jujutsu Kaisen in the future.

Day-wise Box Office Collection (India):

Day 1: ₹12.25 crore

Day 2: ₹13.05 crore

Day 3: ₹13.65 crore

Day 4: ₹4.00 crore

Day 5: ₹4.15 crore

Day 6: ₹3.45 crore

Day 7: ₹2.65 crore

Day 8: ₹2.00 crore (estimated)

Total: ₹55.20 crore net

‘They Offered Me Rs. 1.65 Crore, Men And Women Sharing Bed Is Unacceptable For Me’, Tanushree Dutta On Rejecting Bigg Boss

Every season of the reality show Bigg Boss grabs headlines, whether for controversies, dramatic twists, or celebrity revelations. Recently, Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta opened up about the show in an interview and made it clear why she has never been a part of it. Speaking to one of the media houses Tanushree revealed that the makers have approached her repeatedly over the years, but she has consistently declined their offers because she values her privacy and refuses to compromise on her principles.

Tanushree Dutta

“For the last eleven years, they have been trying to get me on the show,” Tanushree said. “Every season, I get a call, and every season I refuse. I even scold them sometimes. I simply cannot live in such an environment. I don’t even share my home with family members because I like my own space, so how can I stay in a house full of strangers?”

Tanushree Dutta

The actress disclosed that she was offered a huge paycheck to participate but still chose to stay away. “They once offered me ₹1.65 crore because a Bollywood actress of my level had been paid that much,” she revealed. “A stylist from the Bigg Boss team even told me they could increase the amount if I agreed, but I turned it down without a second thought.” Tanushree further explained that no amount of money could convince her.

Tanushree Dutta

“Even if they offered me the moon, I wouldn’t do it. The idea of men and women sharing beds and fighting under one roof is unacceptable to me. I’m particular about my diet and lifestyle. How could anyone think I would sleep next to a man on a reality show for publicity? I am not that desperate, no matter how many crores they offer.” Over the years, Bigg Boss has paid record sums to some contestants. During Bigg Boss 14, wild-card entrant Aly Goni earned around ₹16 lakh per week, taking home approximately ₹2.8 crore, while actress Rimi Sen was offered about ₹2 crore for her stint in Bigg Boss 9.

As per the latest update on Sacnilk, Mirai collected ₹17.33 crore on its third day of release. This is higher than the previous day’s collection, proving that the film has managed to show good growth on Sunday. Mirai collected ₹13 crore on Friday and went on to have a good Saturday with ₹15 crore. The total box office collection of the film now stands at ₹45.33 crore.

Mirai had an overall 31.38% Hindi Occupancy on Sunday. The film is already performing better than Teja’s 2023 hit HanuMan, which also collected ₹ 16 crore on its third day.

About Mirai

Mirai tells the story of a young man named Vedha (Teja) who is destined to become a super Yodha (warrior) and fight off evil. Mahabir Lama, aka the Black Sword (Manoj), is looking for the nine grandhas (texts) left behind by Emperor Ashoka to gain power. Vedha goes on a journey to find a weapon used by Lord Ram called Mirai to defeat Mahabir and protect the grandhas before it’s too late. The film ends up setting up the story for a sequel.

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma hailed the film in his X account on Sunday, and congratulated the cast and crew on its success. He said, “After seeing #Mirai , I don’t remember the last time VFX felt so grand, even in the so called + 400 cr films. Hey @HeroManoj1 I thought you were miscast as the villain, and I slapped myself after seeing your terrific portrayal. Hey @tejasajja123 I thought you might look too young to carry such large scale action and I was double wrong.”

‘That’s Akshay Kumar’s monthly salary’: Comedian Sapan Verma jokes about Aamir Khan rejecting over ₹100 crore OTT deal

by jummy84 September 12, 2025

In August, Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aditi Rao Hydari, Jaideep Ahlawat and several others attended the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM), with photos and videos from the event quickly surfacing online. Comedian Sapan Verma hosted the awards night and has now shared a video of his opening monologue, where he roasted stars including Aamir, Malaika and Abhishek.

Comedian Sapan Verma roasted Aamir Khan.

Sapan Verma roasts Aamir Khan

The video began with Sapan poking fun at Aamir Khan’s relentless promotion of Sitaare Zameen Par. He said, “Aamir Khan, as we all know, was so good this year in all the 450 interviews he did to promote Sitaare Zameen Par. Sir, you did so much promotion at one point, I was worried. My doorbell rang, I thought you had personally come to tell me to watch the film.”

He further joked about Aamir rejecting a ₹100 crore OTT deal and added, “Aamir sir made history, an iconic move. He has released this film directly on YouTube. I have heard that you declined an offer of more than ₹100 crore from an OTT platform for this move. ₹100 crore. You know what that means, right? Akshay Kumar’s monthly salary.”

Aamir indeed gave multiple interviews to promote Sitaare Zameen Par. Later, he announced that the film would not be released on any OTT platform. Reports suggested that he had turned down an offer of ₹120 crore from Amazon Prime Video for its digital rights. Eventually, Aamir released the film on YouTube, charging viewers ₹100.

Speaking about his decision, Aamir said, “This was the reason why I did not give away the rights of my film Sitaare Zameen Par, as this plan was in motion. Our plan is to release every film under the Aamir Khan Production banner on YouTube, after they complete their theatrical run. Each movie will be available at a minimal cost of ₹100.”

About Sitaare Zameen Par

Directed by RS Prasanna, the sports comedy-drama is a spiritual successor to Khan’s 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par. It stars Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh in lead roles alongside 10 debutant actors, all of whom are specially abled. An official remake of the 2018 Spanish film Campeones, it follows a suspended basketball coach who must serve community service by helping a team of players with disabilities prepare for a tournament.

The film received positive reviews from both critics and audiences, emerging as a box-office success with earnings of ₹267.52 crore against a budget of ₹122 crore.

IFFM winners

At IFFM, Aamir Khan was honoured with the prestigious Excellence in Cinema Award. Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound won big, taking home both Best Film and Best Director. Abhishek Bachchan bagged Best Actor (Film) for I Want To Talk, while Jaideep Ahlawat won Best Actor (Series) for Paatal Lok Season 2.

A ‘Royal’ Family Feud: Karisma Kapoor’s Kids Challenge Stepmom Over ₹30,000 Crore Estate

by jummy84 September 10, 2025

The legal battle over the vast estate of late industrialist Sunjay Kapur is escalating, with his children from ex-wife Karisma Kapoor, Samaira and Kiaan, challenging the legitimacy of his final will. They have filed a case against Sunjay’s widow, Priya Sachdev Kapur, alleging that she excluded them from the inheritance.

The dispute centers around Sunjay Kapur’s ₹30,000 crore fortune, including his stake in Sona Comstar, a global leader in the auto parts industry. Samaira, 20, and Kiaan, 14, claim their father had repeatedly promised them a share of his estate, but they were left out of his final will. They accuse their stepmother, Priya, of altering the document. Karisma, although not a plaintiff, is representing her children in the case, as Kiaan is a minor.

The case involves multiple defendants: Priya Sachdev Kapur, Sunjay’s third wife; their son; Sunjay’s mother, who resides at the family farmhouse in Rajokri; and a woman who claims to be the executor of the disputed will. Samaira and Kiaan argue that until his sudden death in June, Sunjay had a close relationship with them, marked by family holidays, business collaborations, and shared milestones.

Following his unexpected passing in a polo accident, Priya initially denied the existence of a will, asserting that Sunjay’s assets were held in the R.K. Family Trust. However, she later presented a will dated March 21, 2025. This led Samaira and Kiaan to suspect that the will may have been forged or manipulated.

Karisma is taking a protective role in this legal battle, shielding her children from the media’s attention while fighting for their rightful share. The case is ongoing, with both sides preparing for a high-stakes courtroom showdown over Sunjay Kapur’s vast estate.

Baaghi 4 box office collection day 3: Tiger Shroff’s massy actioner has not seen a spike in the ticket counters during the first weekend.

Baaghi 4 box office collection day 3: Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 4 arrived with a lot of expectations, given the previous entries of the action-packed franchise have proved to be successful. However, now that the film has seen its release, the first few days of collections are not as massive as expected, given that the Sajid Nadiadwala production has received a lukewarm response so far. Baaghi 4 released in theatres on September 5. (Also read: Baaghi 4 Twitter review: ‘Desi Stallone’ Tiger Shroff can’t save this ‘cringe violent mess with no story’, say viewers)

Baaghi 4 box office collection day 3: Tiger Shroff’s film received mixed reviews.

Baaghi 4 has no growth

The latest box office update on Sacnilk points out that Baaghi did not show any improvement from its opening day collections. The film did business of ₹12 crore on Friday, and saw a dip on Saturday, collecting ₹9.25 crore. On Sunday, the film went on to collect ₹10 crore as per early estimates. The total collections of the film now stand at ₹31.25 crore, as of 10 PM.

Baaghi 4 had an overall Hindi occupancy of 24.84% on Sunday. Morning shows were lacklustre, registering 8.75% occupancy, whereas afternoon shows were at 28.81%, and evening shows showed some momentum at 36.95%. The film is facing competition from the Hollywood release The Conjuring Last Rites. The horror film is on a spectacular run at the box office, collecting ₹15.5 crore on Sunday to take its three-day total to ₹50.50 crore.

About Baaghi 4

Apart from Tiger and Sanjay Dutt, the film also stars Shreyas Talpade, Saurabh Sachdeva, Upendra Limaye, and Sonam Bajwa in prominent roles. It also marks the acting debut of former Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu.

The movie is produced by Sajid Nadiawala under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. The film is the fourth instalment in Tiger’s Baaghi franchise, which started with 2016’s Baaghi, followed by Baaghi 2 (2018) and Baaghi 3 (2020).

Baaghi 4 Defies Odds: Tiger Shroff’s Film Hits Double Digits On Day 2, Rakes In Rs 24.54 Crore | Glamsham.com

Sajid Nadiadwala’s action thriller Baaghi 4 is turning out to be the season’s dark horse. Following a thundering opening on Friday with a net accumulation of ₹13.20 crore, the movie kept the momentum going on Saturday with a minting of ₹11.34 crore. That takes the film’s two-day total to ₹24.54 crore (NBOC).

The trend has piqued trade analysts’ interest, as the film saw only a 13–14% drop from its Eid holiday release — a much better hold than anticipated. Even with competition from festive celebrations such as Ganpati Visarjan, the film’s occupancy rates remained solid nationwide.

Mass Appeal and Audience Connect
One of the strongest aspects of Baaghi 4 is its mass belt performance. Single-screen cinemas are reporting huge turnouts, as people are cheering for Tiger Shroff’s high-octane action and the larger-than-life drama of the film. Parallel to this, urban multiplexes too have reported satisfactory collections, ensuring a balanced contribution from both ends of the market.

The boost is provided by the high family and young voter turnout, making it a crowd puller in all centers. The mix of action-packed sequences with power, emotional overtones, and entertainment quotient is resonating well with varied audience segments.

Sunday Outlook and Beyond
With Sunday remaining, trade analysts are looking for a robust jump in collections, which would propel the film’s weekend figures to a high pedestal. Surpassing initial box office expectations, Baaghi 4 is now turning out to be not only a sure-shot commercial proposition but an outright winner in the mass entertainment arena.

With the word going on and the trend strong, the film’s promise is paving the way for a bright extended run.

Baaghi 4 box office collection day 2: Tiger Shroff and Sanjay Dutt’s violent actioner showed a shocking downward spiral on its second day of release.

Baaghi 4 box office collection day 2: Tiger Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, and Harnaaz Sandhu-starrer Baaghi 4 released in theatres on Friday to mixed reviews from critics. The fourth film in the Baaghi franchise, expectations were riding high on its performance at the box office. It seems that there has been a lukewarm response to the film so far, as the film showed a downward spiral on its second day of release. Baaghi 4 box office collection day 2: Tiger Shroff stars in this action thriller.

Baaghi 4 shows drop in collections

As per the latest update on Sacnilk, Baaghi 4 collected ₹9 crore as per early estimates. This is lower than its opening day numbers, which stood at ₹12 crore. The total collection after two days of release now stands at ₹ 21 crore.

The downward spiral is a worrying sigh for Baaghi 4. It is just the second day of the film’s release, and given that it is a weekend, the film was expected to build on the momentum. Can the film pick up pace over the next few days? That will decide the film’s fate at the box office.

Sanjay Gupta’s sharp call out

Meanwhile, amid the film’s lukewarm response, filmmaker Sanjay Gupta expressed his disappointment with Bollywood films sticking to franchises and same old rules. He said, “Franchise films without original directors are tanking. Is there a lesson to learn for the producers???” He also noted, “Me in my 20’s/30’s could never imagine an English film outperforming a Hindi film. Today’s reality – An English horror film does double the business of a main stream Hindi action film. What changed???” He referred to the better box office collection of the horror film The Conjuring Last Rites, indicating that viewers preferred watching a Hollywood film over a Hindi release.

Baaghi 4 is the fourth instalment in the franchise, which began in 2016 with Baaghi, starring Tiger and Shraddha Kapoor. The sequel saw Tiger reprising his role, with Disha Patani and Manoj Bajpayee alongside him. Baaghi 3 brought back Shraddha Kapoor and also starred Riteish Deshmukh. Unlike the first two films, this wasn’t a box office success, as it suffered due to theatre closures amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Baaghi 4’s story and screenplay have been penned by Sajid Nadiadwala. It is directed by A. Harsha and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.

A Frightening Success: The Conjuring: Last Rites Earns Rs 17 Crore, Sets New Benchmark For Horror Films!” | Glamsham.com

The Hollywood horror movie The Conjuring: Last Rites reached Indian cinemas at last today, being the ninth and last installment of the worldwide favorite Conjuring Universe. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson star in the movie that has broken records, giving the franchise and the horror category the biggest opening ever in India.

On its opening day, Last Rites raked in a huge ₹17 crore net despite being in competition with new releases like Baaghi 4 and Madhraasi. The film’s box office gross collection amounted to ₹21 crore, where ₹43 lakh was just from midnight shows, thus indicating the frenzy among fans of horror films.

Breaking a 7-Year Record
The achievement is all the more significant since the film has broken the record of The Nun (2018), which had entered the Indian box office with a collection of ₹10 crore and had become the largest horror opener in India for the last seven years. With Last Rites almost doubling that amount, the reference point for horror movies in India has been reset.

Audience Response and Weekend Outlook
The solid opening also reflects on how the Conjuring series has established a loyal fan base in India, a feat few foreign horror franchises manage. Early word of mouth has also been well received, further stoking hopes of huge growth on the weekend.

Industry observers opine that if the movie continues to build up momentum during Saturday and Sunday, followed by consistent weekday collections, it could readily achieve super hit in India. Crossing the ₹100 crore net figure now seems a real possibility.

A Historic Start
With such a banger of an opening, The Conjuring: Last Rites has already etched itself in Indian box office lore. For the fans, the last chapter assures not just spine-tingling thrills but a big goodbye to one of the greatest horror epics ever created.
