Spotify To Launch Music Videos In U.S. And Canada In Coming Weeks

by jummy84 November 12, 2025

Giant music streamer Spotify, which in January started rolling out music videos in beta in 98 markets outside the U.S. and Canada, will be introducing them Stateside in the coming weeks, a spokesperson confirmed to Deadline.

No specific date or details were provided for the move, which will set Spotify as a rival to YouTube in the space. As in other markets, they will be available for premium subscribers.

The tipoff came in the announcement of new platform Spotify and the National Music Publishers’ Association unveiled on Tuesday — specifically a new “Opt-In Portal” for NMPA members to enter into a direct license agreement for expanded audiovisual rights in the U.S. A Spotify press post said the new agreements will mean higher royalty payouts for independent music publishers and songwriters, and, in exchange Spotify will receive new rights to build video features “that better connect artists and fans.”

“This new partnership with the NMPA will increase revenue for songwriters and independent publishers who are the heart of the industry,” said Spotify’s Co-President and Chief Business Officer, Alex Norström. “We look forward to continuing to work with the NMPA to create new value and opportunities for their members.”

“We are pleased that this deal offers indie publishers the chance to enter into direct deals with Spotify in regard to audiovisual streaming functionality on the platform alongside the recently announced larger publishing companies,” added David Israelite, president and CEO, NMPA. “This new income stream reflects the growing value of songs as digital platforms offer new capabilities to consumers.”

The NMPA Opt-In Portal was open to eligible publishers starting November 11 with onboarding continuing through December 19.

Variety was first to report the news.

Norah Jones, Leon Bridges Team Up on ‘This Christmas I’m Coming Home’

Bridges will follow the release with “A Merry Black Christmas” on Nov. 14

Norah Jones and Leon Bridges teamed up for a holiday single, “This Christmas I’m Coming Home.” The song was written by Jones and Leon Michels, and produced by Michels, and nods to Bridges’ 2015 track “Coming Home.”

The festive song sees Jones and Bridges trading verses about returning home for the holidays. “I wanna leave the world behind for now/ And forget about the trouble on my mind,” the pair sings. “I can sit by the fire and lose myself for a while/ And remember what was so hard to find.”

The track is the first of two holiday singles from Bridges. The musician will release “A Merry Black Christmas” on Nov. 14. His most recent album, Leon, arrived in 2024. Earlier this year, Jones teamed up Charley Crocket for with the Crooner & the Cowboy Tour, which wrapped in September.

Jones has shared numerous Christmas tunes over the years. In 2021, she dropped her first holiday album, I Dream of Christmas, a collection of both classics and originals. The LP was produced by Michels, who also worked on this new collaboration.

“I’ve always loved Christmas music but never had the inclination to make a holiday album until now,” Jones said at the time. “Last year I found myself listening to James Brown’s Funky Christmas and Elvis’s Christmas Album on Sundays during lockdown for a sense of comfort. In January 2021, I started thinking about making a Christmas album of my own. It gave me something fun to work on and look forward to.”

Web Series To Explore Coming Out As A Premier League Footballer

by jummy84 November 4, 2025
written by jummy84

EXCLUSIVE: Gay soccer player and activist Josh Cavallo is consulting on UK short-form web series Armour about the consequences of coming out for a Premier League footballer.

To be shot in Yorkshire and Hampshire, the series from DeCantillon Films will star Jordan Luke Gage (Royal Kill List) and BIFA nominee Alexandra Burke (Curfew).

Told across 10 x 10-minute episodes, the series will follow fictional Premier League club Fountains Athletic F.C. and their rising star Harry Slade (Gage), an England international whose world is turned upside down after a risky hook-up with another man leads to his sexts falling into the hands of a tabloid. He must make a decision: risk being outed by the press, or control the narrative and tell the world on his own terms.

Since its inception 33 years ago, the Premier League has seen more than 5,000 players. Justin Fashanu is one of the only players to come out as gay in that time. The footballer did so in an interview with The Sun after learning a newspaper planned to expose him. Coming out led to significant backlash, including intense homophobic abuse and damage to his career, and he died by suicide in 1998.

Alongside Gage and Burke, the regular cast of the web series will include Aedan Duckworth (Hollyoaks), Kate James (Past Life), Alex Britt (Black Mirror) and Will FitzGerald (Upon the Edge). Filming is due to begin in spring 2026.

Show creator is Tim Reynard, who is currently studying at the National Film and Television School. The show is inspired by Reynard’s own experiences growing up as a closeted gay man with an obsession for football. Backing comes from private investors, brand product placement sponsorship, and contributions from non-profits.

Casting is by Sophie Pearson, whose credits include season three of Netflix’s Top Boy and Taika Waititi’s feature JoJo Rabbit. The writing team includes Hannah Kumari, who co-developed the character of Lorna, who becomes the first Black female manager of a men’s club, portrayed by Alexandra Burke.

Tim Reynard said: “As a Yorkshireman, football has always been in my blood. Growing up as a closeted gay man with an obsession for the game, I rarely saw myself reflected in it. With Armour, we want to tell a story that’s raw, authentic and filled with hope – not just for the queer fans craving an idol, but the young players coming up the ranks who need a role model”

Australian Josh Cavallo, who made global headlines as the first top-flight male player to ‘come out’ while still playing professionally, commented: “Coming out as a footballer showed me how powerful visibility can be, but it also reminded me how far we still have to go. I’m thrilled to be consulting on the production of Armour, helping to make sure the story feels as real and grounded as possible – both in the script and with the actors”.

He added: “With a gay showrunner leading the project, there’s a real authenticity driving it, and the fact it will be free to watch on YouTube makes it accessible to young players everywhere. There are so few role models and authentic stories to look to, and this project has the potential to change that. It feels like the right time, and the right way, to bring a story of hope and authenticity to football.”

Hells Bells! Rock ‘n’ roll fans better get ready to be shook all night long, because one of the biggest acts on earth is returning to four Canadian cities in 2026.

AC/DC has announced more dates for its ongoing Power Up tour (named for the band’s album of the same name that came out in 2020) that includes stops at some of the biggest stadiums in North America.

In Canada, the Australian rock band will perform with The Pretty Reckless in Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto and Montreal.

Their first stop will be in Edmonton at 56,400-seat Commonwealth Stadium on Aug. 9, 2026.

“We’re thrilled to host rock star legends AC/DC at Commonwealth Stadium, the largest venue of its kind in Canada,” said Heather Seutter, director of Commonwealth Stadium.

“Events like this draw in people from across the city, the province and beyond and demonstrates that Edmonton is a concert destination of choice for major artists.”

One of the most influential rock bands in history, AC/DC played their first show on Dec. 31, 1973 at a nightclub in Sydney, Australia.

By 1980, the band was on a roll, known for its high-energy performances and predictably hard-charging songs. Their album Highway to Hell was certified gold in America and made it into the top 25 Billboard album charts.

The band was founded by brothers Angus and Malcolm Young; the latter died in 2017 at the age of 64 after suffering from dementia for several years. Angus remains the only continuous member of the band.

What’s the future of AI and music? Things may be starting to become clear - National

The future of AI and music is coming into focus. It does not look good for human artists – National

by jummy84 November 2, 2025
written by jummy84

The record executives had gathered in the back corner of an exclusive private club, sipping from crystal highball glasses, each with a large square ice cube. A bottle of 40-year-old Macallan, already two-thirds empty, sat on the table.

“Artists are so difficult,” the Brit complained. “They’re finicky, unreliable, and refuse to believe that creativity should be something that turns on like a light switch. I mean, how hard can it be?

The petite woman from Seoul in charge of most of the music market in East Asia spoke next. “It’s true,” she said, “And they’re always whining about being mistreated. ‘Streaming doesn’t pay’ and ‘I need more money.’ I never want to hear anyone on my label complain about having to post things on social media every day. I mean, how hard is it to go viral with every post?”

The Sao Paulo man rubbed the bridge of his nose. “And the fans! They’re so unpredictable — and ungrateful when it comes to the music we give them. Can’t they just consume and shut up?”

Story continues below advertisement

There were a few moments of silence before the American stood up. “Ladies and gentlemen, those were the bad old days. Thanks to artificial intelligence, we are now in complete control of ALL the music.” He raised his glass and everyone stood up.

“Congratulations, everyone! We have finally managed to take the artist out of art!”

They clinked their glasses so hard that two of them cracked.

A far-fetched dystopian view of the music of the future? Or the shape of things to come? I’d vote for the latter.

If you watch the music charts, you may have noticed the debut of someone named Xania Monet on the American Billboard Radio Airplay Chart. She does not exist. She — it — became the first AI creation to chart. I quote from the press release:

“The announcement follows a string of impressive accomplishments for the virtual songstress, who has quickly become one of the most talked-about names in the emerging AI music space. The historic milestone marks a defining moment for the intersection of technology and creativity, proving that digital artistry can achieve mainstream success alongside traditional talent.

“On social media, Xania continues to gain traction with a fast-growing following and strong engagement across platforms. Her visuals, storytelling, and evolving persona have sparked widespread discussion about the role of AI in music — not just as a tool, but as a creative collaborator. Earlier this year, Xania secured a reported $3 million deal with Hallwood Media, further establishing her as one of the most valuable and visible AI artists to date.

Story continues below advertisement

“Beyond her musical success, Xania’s rise represents a shift in how audiences connect with creators. Her presence on the Billboard Airplay Chart challenges long-held ideas about authenticity in music, while her massive online following underscores a new kind of fan relationship — one built around curiosity, creativity, and cultural conversation.”

Again, Xania only exists as soulless binary code. She doesn’t need food, water, or sleep. She’ll never complain, get sick, or die of a drug overdose. She will do whatever she is told to do with zero pushback. And she’s making money for her creators while taking attention away from real artists.

Expect more of this sort of thing. Last week, Universal Music, the world’s biggest major label, announced a landmark deal with Udio, an AI company with a program that creates full songs from text prompts. Universal had launched a lawsuit against Udio, claiming that the company was scraping copyrighted material for the training of their AI models with asking for permission or paying anyone from the privilege. Now they’re on the same side, revealing a joint venture where they’ll launch “music creation, consumption and streaming” service sometime in 2026.

Further down in the announcement, there’s this: “In addition to the compensatory legal settlement, the new license agreements for recorded music and publishing will provide further revenue opportunities for UMG artists and songwriters.” Those copyright infringement charges? Dropped. Gone. Poof.

And there it is: The world’s largest record company will soon offer its artist to an AI company so that it can crank out more non-existent singers like Xania Monet. They claim that artists used in this training will be compensated, but what they’re actually doing is giving human-created art to a robot that may eventually make human artists endangered if not extinct.

Udio is not alone. What does this mean for Suno and other generative AI music platforms who are also being sued by labels, Universal among them? Will other labels follow what appears to be a template created by Universal and Udio? What does this “licensing” look like? Which artists will opt in and who will chose not to?

Will publishers choose not to participate? If they do, will they need consent from their artists? Performing rights organizations, including Canada’s SOCAN, announced last week they’re all-for-one-and-one-for all when it comes to accepting registrations of partially AI-generated music.

In other words, they’re preparing for the onslaught creators who will use AI as a tool in music-making. Hey, Xania may be a fake, but she — it — has to be paid. Or at least the people being her do.

Story continues below advertisement

So many questions.

What of music fans? The vast majority of surveys and studies I’ve seen echo this one where fans say human creativity is essential in the time of AI. Here’s a Canadian music industry study from two years ago that uncovered something similar.

But 0ther studies (like this one) are comparing the emotional impact of AI-generated vs. human-composed music and learning something very different. Researchers in Argentina had 88 subjects watch music videos from both humans (“human-created music,” or HCM) and AI-generated music built from prompts of varying sophistication.

Using biometric data such as pupil dilation, they found that there was little difference in reactions to HCM and AI-generated. I quote: “Participants found AI-generated music more arousing that HCM, while HCM was perceived as more familiar than both AI conditions.”

This is music (so to speak) to the ears of those who want to follow the AI path of music making.

And make no mistake. Attitudes toward AI-generated music are already changing, and fan engagement is being shaped by AI. And don’t be surprised if you hear more about the ELIZA effect. This is a psychological situation where those who co-exist with AI entities — chatbots, AI assistants, AI agents — become emotionally attached to those unreal “personalities.” This will only intensify as more people turn to AI for casual interactions, self-help therapy, romance, and sex chats. Getting emotionally involved with an AI music entity will be easy.

Story continues below advertisement

Musicians already have it rough and are feeling really, really cheated. Let me paraphrase something from a musician I saw on Threads the other day addressing the rise of easy-to-use AI-generated music: “I spent years learning to play an instrument, and honing my craft on stage and in the studio. You typed a few words into your phone. We are not the same.”

AI is already on its way to destroying musicians and the music business. Think of the implications for the sales of musical instruments, the existence of recording studios, people who teach music for a living at all levels. A whole class of creatives could be wiped out as something as human as music is handed over to machines.

My favourite take on AI and music is this: “I want AI to do my laundry so I have more time for making art.” We’re already there. Why not go in that direction instead?

Monsters Inc. Monday Night Football Game Coming to ESPN, Disney+

by jummy84 October 28, 2025

Sulley, meet Saquon.

The Walt Disney Co. will once again present a live animated alternative broadcast of an upcoming NFL game, this time featuring characters and a stadium set in the world of Pixar‘s Monsters Inc. ESPN announced the game during halftime of Monday Night Football.

The special edition of Monday Night Football, called Monsters Funday Football, will be televised Dec. 8, when the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Los Angeles Chargers. It’s the third straight iteration of the animated altcast for Disney, following a Toy Story-themed effort in 2023, and Simpsons-themed game last year.

The new Monsters Inc. altcast comes as Disney inked a multi-year deal with Sony’s Beyond Sports to develop more animated altcasts for NFL, NHL, NBA, and WNBA games across The Walt Disney Company and ESPN platforms through 2027.

The game will taker place inside the Monsters Inc. building, and will feature appearances by Mike Wazowski and James P. “Sulley” Sullivan, joining Jalen Hurts [and Saquon Barkley] and the Eagles and Justin Herbert and the Chargers, respectively. Billy Crystal and John Goodman will reprise their roles in prerecorded voiceover work for the game, with Drew Carter and Dan Orlovsky set to call the game joined by Katie Feeney as social media correspondent.

Notably, this year’s game won’t just stream on ESPN+ and Disney+, but will also be available on linear TV via ESPN2, Disney Channel and Disney XD.

“Each iteration of Funday Football has pushed the boundary of what’s possible in sports technology. By blending real-time NFL data and tracking with cutting-edge animation, we’re transforming the way fans experience an NFL game,” said Michael “Spike” Szykowny, ESPN VP of graphics innovation. “Our continued innovation with partners like the NFL, Beyond Sports and Disney+ showcases how technology can turn a live game into a fully immersive world, giving fans an additional way to consume sports.”

‘Halo’ is finally coming to PlayStation with original remake

by jummy84 October 27, 2025
written by jummy84

For the first time in its 24-year history, Halo will soon be available on PlaySation consoles thanks to a remake of the original game.

Halo: Combat Evolved was released in 2001 as an Xbox exclusive. The first-person shooter inspired a number of sequels and spin-offs, but was never playable on a rival console.

However on Friday (October 24) it was confirmed that Halo Studios would be releasing a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved – and that it will be available on the PlayStation 5 at some point in 2026.

“The original Halo: Combat Evolved is a stalwart of gaming history, a cultural icon that helped define the first-person shooter experience. For Halo Studios, bottling the impact of that original campaign and all of its special moments is the ultimate goal – for new players and long-time fans alike,” said creators Halo Studios.

Halo: Campaign Evolved arrives in 2026.

Experience enhanced gameplay, additional missions, and new features on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.

The “modern evolution” of Combat Evolved has been “thoughtfully brought to life” in Unreal Engine 5 with new 4K visuals, updated animations, remastered music and re-recorded voice lines. Halo Studios is also bringing in “a roster of beloved weapons and vehicles from later Halo titles, and adding three new bonus campaign missions, all designed to expand and celebrate  the adventure that started it all.”

The Halo: Campaign Evolved remake will also feature “expanded gameplay, two-player split-screen on consoles, online and networked co-op for up to four players on console and PC, and seamless cross-platform play with shared progression,” reads the official announcement. “It will be the definitive return trip through one of gaming’s greatest journeys.”

However the remake won’t feature the brilliant PvP multiplayer. “We’re not trying to replace what is a masterpiece in the original,” said executive producer Damon Conn in an interview with Windows Central. “We’re trying to basically make something that stands kind of shoulder to shoulder with it, using new tools, new energy, to get a little bit of a fresh take on some things, but honouring the legacy.”

Last October, Halo developers 343 Studios announced a rebrand as Halo Studios and confirmed “multiple” new titles were currently in development. And according to Halo Studios community director Brian Jarrard, all those titles will be available on Playstation. “It’s really a new era—Halo is on PlayStation going forward,”  he said during a livestream on Friday.

In other news, some of The Sims’ biggest streamers have quit the game in protest over the $55billion sale of publisher EA.

Below, Hollywood Life has the latest update about the future of The Morning Show.

When Did The Morning Show Season 4 Premiere?

Thamma Post-Credit Scene Explained ( Photo Credit – Maddock Films )

Maddock’s Horror Comedy Universe’s latest film, Thamma, is currently running on the big screens and getting a positive response from the audience. Fans are happy with the performance of Ayushmann Khurrana in theaters and can’t wait to see how Dinesh Vijan plans for the future of MHCU.

As the latest addition to the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, Thamma doesn’t just end with the original finale—this mid-credit moment teases future twists, new alliances, and upcoming battles that could reshape the MHCU. Here’s a breakdown of everything that happened after the credits rolled and what it could mean for the next chapter of the franchise.

Spoiler Alert: This article contains major spoilers about Thamma.

Thamma Post Credit Scene Explanation In Details

Thamma doesn’t have a specific post-credit scene, but instead, a mid-credit scene was part of it. In this scene, Alok, the newest Thamma of Vetaal, learns that someone has rescued Yakshasan from prison. Now, the villainous character of Nawazuddin Siddiqui is free to hunt for the blood of humans to become more powerful.

Now the only way to stop him is for Alok to consume some blood of a Bhediya. With this, his power will double, and he will manage to overpower Yakshasan. However, they were wondering about the presence of a Bhediya for this purpose.

Alok was giving a smile, as he had already fought with Bhediya in the early part of the film. Varun Dhawan made an impactful cameo and gained massive power after getting a single drop of Alok’s blood as Vetaal. Now, it’s time to do the reverse when Alok gets some blood of Bhediya to increase his powers.

In Thamma, it was also revealed that Bhediya and Vetaal already had a heated arc, which makes their battle more interesting to watch

Bhediya will not stop for a single drop of blood from the Vetaal, and he is ready to hunt Vetaal down. This was why, in the mid-credit scene, it was disclosed that Varun Dhawan’s Howling character has reached the base of Vetaal and already jumped from the top of the mountain to start its hunt.

Now, in Bhediya 2, the audience will witness the epic hunt of the Howling star against the Vetaal and their newest Thamma.

Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor ‘had a coming together’ amid lockdown

by jummy84 October 16, 2025
written by jummy84

16 October 2025

Ben Stiller believes lockdown helped to save his marriage.

Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor reconciled amid lockdown

The 59-year-old comedian and actress Christine Taylor separated in 2017 – but the couple managed to reunite amid the COVID-19 lockdown.

Ben – who has Ella, 23, and Quin, 20, with Christine – says in the documentary Stiller and Meara: Nothing Is Lost: “All of a sudden we were together in the house and during that time I started to make the movie, too. So there was sort of this coming together. Us talking about what we were going through, our issues, and looking at what my parents had been through, too, in a way I hadn’t looked at it before.”

Ben was ultimately determined that his marriage wouldn’t go the same way as his parents’ marriage had gone.

He recalled thinking: “I don’t want to become my parents.”

Ben moved back into the family home in 2020 so he could spend time with his children amid the COIVD-19 lockdowns.

And the comedy star previously admitted that the situation later “evolved” between him and Christine.

He said: “Then, over the course of time, it evolved. We were separated and got back together and we’re happy about that.

“It’s been really wonderful for all of us. Unexpected, and one of the things that came out of the pandemic.”

Ben and Christine now have a “respect” for their similarities and differences, and they’re more “accepting” of each other than ever before.

The movie star – who married Christine in 2000 – explained: “I think we have a respect for the ways that we’re similar and the ways we’re different.

“And I think accepting that, you can really appreciate someone more because you’re not trying to get them to change for you.

“Once you accept that, you save a lot of energy. ‘This is something that works for me; this is something that doesn’t work for me.’

“If you have that trust level with your partner, you know that me saying ‘I don’t like doing that thing,’ is not me saying ‘I don’t like you.'”
