Dude box office collection day 4: Keerthiswaran’s debut film starring Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju is holding its own at the box office.

Dude box office collection day 4: Director Keerthiswaran’s debut film, Dude, was released in theatres on October 17 ahead of Diwali. The film, starring Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju, opened to mixed reviews, with the film’s second half receiving particular criticism. The film has now crossed the ₹40 crore mark in India since its release.

According to the trade website Sacnilk, Dude collected an estimated ₹10 crore net in India on its first Monday, taking its total domestic collection to ₹40.75 crore net. The film saw no dip on Monday, given that it was a holiday, but it also saw no increase, according to the estimates. Dude had an opening of ₹9.75 crore, and it collected ₹10.4 crore on Saturday and ₹10.6 crore on Sunday. Despite advance booking trends, the film is performing better in Tamil than Telugu.

Sarathkumar, who played Minister Athiyamaan Azhagappan in Dude, watched the film in theatres on Diwali with fans and the director. Posting a selfie with Keerthiswaran and fans from inside the theatre, the actor wrote, “On the occasion of Deepavali, we—myself and director Keerthivasan—watched with joy the enthusiastic celebration by fans of the #Dude film, which is currently running successfully on screens, at Kamala Cinemas until the interval, and we were delighted to share Deepavali greetings with the fans.”

About Dude

Dude is produced by Mythri Movie Makers and has music by Sai Abhyankar. The film tells the story of two youngsters, Agan (Pradeep) and Kural (Mamitha), whose lives change after the latter proposes marriage to the former. Sarathkumar, Hridhu Haroon, Rohini, Aishwarya Sharma and Neha Shetty play key roles in it. Dude has crossed the ₹60 crore mark worldwide in its first weekend.

Xuzhi Chen is Shanghai’s resident boho spokesman. At first glance, his spring 2026 collection—his second since his big return to the Shanghai Fashion Week fold last season—looked as if it were engineered to accompany the fashion dictionary’s entry on boho-chic, checking every box with its wispy dresses, ballooning pantaloons, and diaphanous silk blouses. But as he explained in the lead up to the show, Chen was getting at something deeper and more romantic.

He cited the French poet Arthur Rimbaud as an inspiration, but rather than focus on his volatile early years and his torrid affair with Paul Verlaine he was thinking about his later days. After spending his youth in the arts, leading a precarious, vagabond-like life with Verlaine, Rimbaud left his career as a writer and began travelling extensively. He traversed Europe, mostly on foot, and became a soldier to explore Indonesia, then the Dutch East Indies, eventually settling in Yemen. On his runway, Chen considered what Rimbaud might have found during his travels.

To his credit, rather than a melange of disparate elements, what Chen conjured was a sense of wanderlust. On the womenswear front, he offered some nice dresses and embellished both blouses and dresses with cascades of ruffles, which he paired with either trousers—jeans or tailored, the former not always successfully—and flouncy skirts. His boho vision was most clearly realized in his menswear: three-piece suits were cut amply but not oversized in pretty silk brocades and styled either shirtless or with blouses and, here and there, a pantaloon—and always accessorized with sandals. Super short-shorts helped add sharpness to the softness of other looks, and amped up the sex appeal of the collection overall. There was an air of idiosyncrasy to his men’s looks that the designer should leverage across his full collection. The story Chen told felt as if Rimbaud had taken up traveling not to move on from his writing, but to document it as a poet.

Dude box office collection day 2: Director Keerthiswaran’s debut film Dude, starring Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles, released in theatres this Friday. After enjoying a strong opening, the film witnessed a slight dip in its box office collections on the second day.

According to the trade website Sacnilk, the film registered business of ₹7.66 crore on day two, taking the total to ₹17.41 crore. There was a slight dip from the opening day numbers; however, the film is expected to pick up momentum over the weekend amid the Diwali festivities.

When it comes to occupancy, Dude had an overall 51.18 per cent occupancy in Tamil on Saturday.

The film opened at ₹9.75 crore (Tamil ₹6.5 crore and Telugu ₹3.25 crore) on Friday. After witnessing a strong start, Dude has already surpassed the opening of Pradeep Ranganathan’s Love Today, which had collected ₹2.45 crore, and also overtaken his previous film Dragon, which opened at ₹6.5 crore.

On the other hand, Mamitha’s Premalu opened with ₹90 lakh, with both films expected to see growth in collections depending on word of mouth. Dude earned ₹3.89 crore from advance bookings.

The Tamil romantic comedy saw mixed reactions on social media after its release. While some people praised the film’s youthful energy and performances, others felt it failed to maintain its charm beyond the first half.

As per Hindustan Times review, “The drawback, Dude suffers from, is when the first half quickly unpacks everything there is to be, and you wonder what other curveballs are left to tackle. Without giving much away, the lead characters confront a very timely and real-world issue that has been addressed differently in other films. And while Keerthiswaran eventually finds a way to tackle it, the lead-up to it gets repetitive and begins to feel like a pile-on after a while. He excels at comedy but struggles with emotion, which can sometimes border on melodrama. The final twist of the film, too, doesn’t land as intended.”
