UK events industry unites 10 major venues for largest ever ‘One Day at Christmas’ to combat loneliness

by jummy84 December 3, 2025
written by jummy84

The UK events and exhibitions industry is set to deliver its most ambitious collective social initiative yet, with One Day at Christmas expanding to 10 of the UK’s largest event venues on Friday, December 5th, 2025. The campaign brings the industry together to host a festive Christmas dinner and community celebration for more than 3,500 vulnerable and isolated people.

The 2025 event marks a significant milestone, welcoming two major new venues: P&J Live, Aberdeen, and Tobacco Dock, London, joining eight other iconic locations nationwide.

Further amplifying the campaign’s reach, much-loved broadcaster and host of Good Morning Britain, Richard Madeley, has officially lent his support, hosting the central event at Excel London. His involvement underscores the national importance of the initiative, which has already served over 10,000 meals since its inception in 2017.

Julian Agostini, founder of One Day at Christmas, stated: “This event is the ultimate showcase of the heart and capability of the UK events industry. When we say no one should feel alone at Christmas, we mean it. Expanding to 10 major venues, from Aberdeen to London, demonstrates the sheer cooperation and determination of the exhibitions sector to give back.”

One Day at Christmas is unique because it is entirely powered by the events and exhibitions community. Venues donate their space, caterers donate food, and hundreds of volunteers—staffed by the industry—donate their time. Donations are made from all corners of the industry to make this a very special day. This collective effort is aimed at tackling the UK’s loneliness epidemic, which affects millions of adults.

The full list of 10 confirmed host venues for 2025 includes:

  • NEW: P&J Live, Aberdeen
  • NEW: Tobacco Dock, London
  • Business Design Centre, London
  • Coventry Building Society Arena
  • ExCeL London (Hosted by Richard Madeley)
  • Farnborough International
  • Manchester Central
  • NEC Birmingham
  • SEC Glasgow
  • Royal Armouries, Leeds

The event is being supported by some of the major event and exhibition organisers in the UK, whose shows include Grand Designs Live, UK Construction Week, The Cake & Bake Show, The National Running Show, MCM Comic Con, amongst live performances, concerts, sporting events and much more.

“This is more than just a festive meal; it’s about providing connection, community, and dignity for those who need it most. We are ready to help the media show the nation what true Christmas spirit looks like,” added Agostini.

It’s the holiday season, which means it’s also time to sit by the fireside and turn on some memorable Christmas episodes.

While there is a world of possibilities for shows and episodes, The Hollywood Reporter has rounded up some fan favorites, new and old. And while there are always classic Christmas flicks that people love to watch, sometimes people may only have an hour to spare during the busy holiday season, which is perfect for a television episode.

So whether someone is sitting in front of a TV, computer or cellphone, shows such as The O.C., The Simpsons, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Ted Lasso, Mad Men, Abbott Elementary, The Office and Gossip Girl have at least one festival installment.

Below, THR takes a look at 35 memorable episodes dedicated to the Christmas holiday.

  • ‘The O.C.’

The first of several holiday episodes of the teen soap, which aired in 2003, introduced the new holiday (a combination of Hanukah and Christmas) to the pop culture lexicon. It was also the episode where Seth (Adam Brody) memorably fails to juggle two love interests, Anna (Samaire Armstrong) and Summer (Rachel Bilson), at his family’s Christmas party.

  • ‘Seinfeld’

The classic episode introduced the world to the anti-Christmas holiday “Festivus.” After the episode aired, Festivus became more widely celebrated, with many honoring it on Dec. 23.

  • ‘Friends’

Friends has given us 10 seasons of Thanksgiving and Christmas episodes but in season eight, in the midst of the awkward phase between Ross and Mona’s relationship, instead of deciding to slow down, Ross takes huge steps forward in their romance by offering to send out a couple’s holiday card when he’s cornered. When he vents to the rest of the gang about his decision, they urge him to speak with Mona about the card but instead he leaves the conversation having just given her the only key to his apartment.

  • ’30 Rock’

Worlds collide when Jack’s sourpuss mother meets Liz’s eternally optimistic family. The season two episode also sees the writers celebrate “Ludachristmas,” Tracy legally prohibited from drinking alcohol, and Kenneth wanting to teach the gang the true meaning of Christmas.

  • ‘Arrested Development’

The Bluth Company Christmas party gets awkward when Michael (Jason Bateman) and Maeby (Alia Shawkat) perform a duet of “Afternoon Delight.” (Ditto for Lindsay and George Michael.) Later, George Michael (Michael Cera) and his father bond by rebuilding the Banana stand, which local teens tore down as part of an annual Christmas tradition.

  • ‘Gossip Girl’

Any day living on the Upper East Side is filled with its dose of drama and controversy, but a Gossip Girl holiday gathering is the boiling point for almost every storyline of the season. On Christmas in season one, Blair’s estranged father brings home his lover Roman, Chuck and Nate jet off to Monaco and Dan tries to surprise Serena for the holidays while Vanessa and Jenny help Serena find him a lonely boy-approved gift.

  • ‘Community’

NBC’s Community brought stop-motion animation back into primetime with its 2010 Christmas episode. The show’s pop-culture encyclopedia, Abed (Danny Pudi), wakes up to find out that the entire world is in stop-motion — and brings the whole study group together to discover the true meaning of Christmas.

  • ‘The Office’

Through the years, The Office‘s Christmas parties and shenanigans have been orchestrated via Michael Scott, but in season nine, post-Michael Dunder Mifflin decides to let Dwight plan the annual holiday shindig. Being Dwight, he hosts a Pennsylvania-Dutch themed party that ends abruptly when Jim has to leave to tend to his other job.

  • ‘The West Wing’

The White House drama’s first Christmas episode centered on Toby (Richard Schiff) going out of his way to give a homeless Korean War vet a proper funeral. The send-off set the tone for The West Wing. Aaron Sorkin, who penned the episode, and Schiff both won Emmys.

  • ‘Gilmore Girls’

Even with their overly festive town pride and eclectic holidays, the Gilmore Girls never really got into the Christmas spirit through the seven seasons of the show. But in between Thanksgivings at Emily’s and the New Year in season two, there was a Bracebridge dinner that resembled a Christmas dinner. The Independence Inn hosts a gathering equipped with Elizabethan costumes for most of the town’s citizens while Rory tries to keep the budding rivalry between Dean and Jess under control. The festivities include horse-drawn sleighs and a Stars Hollow snowman competition.

  • ‘Cheers’

The holidays are all about chaos and Cheers‘ “Christmas Cheers” depicted that to a T. Everyone at Cheers is forced to work late on Christmas Eve, causing Sam (Ted Danson) to find a last-minute gift for Rebecca (Kirstie Alley), while Norm (George Wendt) and his group of friends arrive to bring in the holiday cheer.

  • ‘Veronica Mars’

Who knew a Christmas party could get so bloody? In the 2004 episode, Veronica (Kristen Bell) goes on a quest to find out what happened to the missing money after a poker game at the Echolls‘ house, while her private investigator father Keith (Enrico Colantoni) gets hired by Aaron Echolls‘ wife, Lynn (Lisa Rinna), to see if he has a stalker. When it’s discovered that Aaron’s stalker is a woman he had an affair with, Lynn finds out about her husband’s extracurricular activities. If that doesn’t take the cake, Aaron (Harry Hamlin) gets stabbed at their Christmas party.

  • ‘Family Guy’

It’s not a very merry Christmas Eve for the Griffin family after Peter mistakenly gives all of their gifts away to needy children. The family tries to buy more gifts at the mall, but things don’t work out and Lois ends up going on a rampage and (among other things) pushes It’s A Wonderful Life‘s George Bailey off a bridge.

  • ‘M*A*S*H’

The most touching aspect of the 1980 episode, airing during M*A*S*H‘s later years, is Hawkeye (Alan Alda), B.J. (Mike Farrell) and Margaret (Loretta Swit) valiantly trying to keep a wounded soldier alive through Christmas Day.

  • ‘South Park’

South Park really hit its stride with its season one Christmas special, which featured the lovable piece of — ahem — feces, Mr. Hankey. Mr. Hankey befriends Kyle after his mother forces him to quit the Christmas play. The 1997 episode lampooned the political correctness surrounding the holidays, and also marked the Comedy Central show’s first musical episode.

  • ‘New Girl’

As the roommates all depart on their separate ways to spend the Christmas break, they all find their holiday plans either canceled or delayed, leaving them spending the evening at the airport.

  • ‘Dawson’s Creek’

As The WB’s teen staple neared the end of its run, the final Christmas episode of Dawson’s Creek was a tumultuous one.  Joey (Katie Holmes), Dawson (James Van Der Beek) and Pacey (Joshua Jackson) returned to Capeside and reconvened in the Leery household in the 2002 episode. What they didn’t expect was to have their mishaps aired out in front of everyone. But the episode did prove significant, with Joey and Dawson — who have had their fair share of trials and errors — reconciling.

  • ‘The Simpsons’

Fox’s long-running animated sitcom The Simpsons kicked off with a Christmas episode back in 1989 but several years later, it would air one of its most memorable in “Miracle on Evergreen Terrace” — the title a play on Miracle on 34th Street. After Bart burns down the family Christmas tree and presents, he fibs and says that a burglar broke in and stole everything, manufacturing a town-wide story and $15,000 in donations that would later come back to haunt them — and bring Marge to Jeopardy!

  • ‘Doctor Who’

    'Doctor Who''Doctor Who'

Doctor Who’s Christmas specials are an annual tradition on British (and U.S.) television, and often mark the end of a Doctor and the introduction of another. David Tennant’s final hurrah as a regular on Doctor Who — and the welcoming of Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor — came in the two-part “The End of Time” that aired on Christmas Day in 2009 and New Year’s Day in 2010.

  • ‘ER’

    'ER''ER'

The 2001 episode marked the final appearance of Eriq La Salle, who played surgeon Dr. Benton, as a series regular on the NBC hospital drama. (He would, however, return later at several points in the eighth and 15 seasons.) Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle), meanwhile, copes with the bombshell news that his father is divorcing his mother.

  • ‘Parks and Recreation’

    'Parks and Recreation''Parks and Recreation'

Finding herself temporarily unemployed, Leslie Knope decides to keep busy by creating a community parks committee to keep tabs on the projects that need funding all while managing to give each member of her staff thoughtful and personalized Christmas presents. In order to repay her after years of rudimentary gift giving, the staff searches for the perfect present to give Leslie.

  • ‘Mary Tyler Moore’

Mary (Mary Tyler Moore) volunteers to work alone at WJM-TV on Christmas Eve after learning that a long-time colleague hasn’t been able to spend the holiday with his family for years because of his shift. Loneliness at the station, however, drives Mary nearly insane. But her friends come by to keep her company and they all ring in Christmas Day together. The episode’s title, “Christmas and the Hard-Luck Kid II,” is a reference to a 1966 episode of That Girl.

  • ‘Ally McBeal’

Elaine (Jane Krakowski) finds a baby in a nativity scene, bringing Cage (Peter MacNicol) and Ally (Calista Flockhart) in to help in a custody battle over the baby she intends on keeping. But any Ally McBeal episode isn’t complete without a memorable performance. In this 1999 effort, it’s Ally singing “Santa Baby” at her work’s Christmas party.

  • ‘The Brady Bunch’

Just in time for the holidays, Carol (Florence Henderson) gets laryngitis and may be unable to perform during the Christmas shows, which causes Cindy (Susan Olsen) to ask Santa to bring her mother’s voice back.

  • ‘Ted Lasso’

This Emmy Award winning series offered an episode in season two titled “Carol of the Bells,” where small-time football coach Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) has the holiday blues until Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) encourages him to spread some Christmas cheer.

  • ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’

In the season six episode titled “A Very Sunny Christmas,” the gang set out on a holiday-themed adventure — though not quite in the traditional sense, because the sitcom is known for turning everything on its head — that uncovers shocking truths about their childhood Christmas traditions.

  • ‘Bob’s Burgers’

Fans of the animated sitcom may remember “The Bleakening,” an episode in season eight where Linda hosts a party at the family’s burger joint to spread some holiday love and cheer, only to find that one of her ornaments is stolen. Of course, she turns on the guests, which sucks the Christmas spirit out of the gathering.

  • ‘Abbott Elementary’

In the season two episode, Abbott Elementary’s staff kick off their holiday break from school and students. The installment sees Jacob (Chris Perfetti) crash Barbara (Sheryl Lee Ralph) and Melissa’s (Lisa Ann Walter) after-school dinner, Janine (Quinta Brunson) and Gregory (Tyler James Williams) have a moment while dancing, and Ava (Janelle James) decides she’s too good for lines and skips the hookah club queue.

  • ‘The Mindy Project’

Mindy (Mindy Kaling) plans a Christmas party for the building in season two so she can spend more time with Cliff (Glenn Howerton), but her thunder is stolen by Brendan’s (Mark Duplass) date when she performs a “Santa Baby” dance for the guests.

  • ‘Mad Men’

Though a season four episode saw the firm throw a Christmas party for its most important client, in season five, Don (Jon Hamm) and Joan (Christina Hendricks) have a memorable heartbreaking moment together at a bar at Christmas as the firm goes all out to for a second chance to land Jaguar as a client.

This story was first published in December 2016 and has been regularly updated to include additional Christmas-themed TV episodes.

  • ‘Virgin River’

The Netflix series dropped its two Christmas episodes in 2023, titled “The More the Merrier” and “Father Christmas,” which saw the beloved Virgin River characters, including Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack (Martin Henderson), celebrating the most magical time of the year while also dealing with new and ongoing drama.

  • ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’

Christmas in Cousins is truly magical, as seen in the season three episode, “Last Christmas.” It’s a pivotal moment between Belly (Lola Tung) and Conrad (Christopher Briney) as they reconnect at the beach house at Christmas when Conrad unexpectedly shows up due to a delayed flight. It’s also a period of calm before the upcoming summer chaos.

  • ‘Black Mirror’

In season two, the show’s Christmas episode sees three interconnected tales of technology run amok during the holiday season, which are being told by two men, Joe Potter (Rafe Spall) and Matthew Trent (Jon Hamm), at a remote outpost in a snowy wilderness.

  • ‘Black-ish’

In the first season of Black-ish in 2014, the episode titled “Black Santa/White Christmas” sees Dre (Anthony Anderson) trying to find a Black Santa for his annual office Christmas party. And he goes out of his way to fill the red suit, even though the head of HR already got the job.

  • ‘Hacks’

The “The Deborah Vance Christmas Spectacular” aired during the show’s third season. The episode saw Deborah (Jean Smart) attempt to host a perfect holiday event, but everything quickly devolved into chaos, to no surprise.

12 Simple & Cute Christmas Nail Art Trends To Try

If minimalist nail art is more your thing, then Wendy’s pared-back take on festive nails will certainly appeal. There’s still glitz in the form of 3D pearls and golden rhinestones, and the petite dots of color really pop against a sheer, milky base color. Use Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Accents, to add some sparkle to your at-home manicures.

Kartik Aaryan is not just one of the most bankable stars, but he’s also emerging as Bollywood’s festive favourite. Why do I say so? Well, after dominating Diwali 2024 with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, the 35-year-old star is back to take over Christmas 2025 with Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera. Co-starring Ananya Panday, the Sameer Vidwans directorial appears to be a peppy rom-com that follows two people who fall in love while finding themselves. However, due to family pressures they part ways, hoping to meet again.

Kartik Aaryan – The Bollywood Stars Who Dominates The Festive Seasons

Kartik -who made his acting debut while pursuing a degree in engineering- has established himself as one of Bollywood’s most sought-after actors with films such as Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Luka Chuppi, Chandu Champion and more. Ever since the start of career, the superstar has been unstoppable, with impressive performances at the box office. And now, Aaryan – who shone bright at the box-office during Diwali 2025, seems to be cementing his spot as Bollywood’s festive favourite.

Released on November 1, aka Diwali 2024, BB3 received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics, however, it dominated the box office. With a worldwide gross collection of Rs 423.85 crore, the horror comedy emerged as the second highest-grossing Hindi film and sixth highest-grossing Indian film of 2024.

With less than a month left until TMMT, MTTM released in cinemas globally, the hype for the rom-com is only showing signs of increasing. This is a clear indicator that the audience – especially Kartik fans, are super excited to see his on the big screen, that too in the holiday season. With the film set to release on December 25, we are sure it’s going to be packed halls, will housefull boards placed at the entrances of many theatres.

About TMMTMTTM

Jointly presented by Dharma Productions and Namah Pictures, the film is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Shareen Mantri Kedia, Kishor Arora, and Bhumika Tewari. Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting 2025: Reba McEntire to Host

Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting 2025: Reba McEntire to Host

by jummy84 November 14, 2025
written by jummy84

Laufey, Gwen Stefani and more stars are ready to rock around the Rockefeller Christmas tree, with NBC announcing the lineup for its annual tree-lighting celebration — hosted this year by Reba McEntire — on Friday (Nov. 14).

As Billboard can exclusively share, the network is set to air its 2025 Christmas in Rockefeller Center special at 8 p.m. ET on Dec. 3, with viewers getting the choice of tuning live on NBC or watching a simulcast on Peacock. With the country icon and Voice judge making her debut as host of the yearly program, Marc Anthony, Halle Bailey, Michael Bublé, Kristin Chenoweth, New Edition, Brad Paisley and Carly Pearce will also perform.

Plus, the Radio City Rockettes — who are celebrating their 100th anniversary this year — will once again be present to dazzle viewers with a festive showcase and, most likely, a kick line or two. “The lighting of the tree at Rockefeller Center is one of the great traditions that New York has to offer, and we couldn’t be more proud to once again share that excitement with audiences all over the country,” said Jen Neal, executive vp of live events and specials at NBCUniversal Entertainment, in a statement.

She added, “We’re so looking forward to seeing Reba bring her infectious energy to the telecast and create an unforgettable holiday moment.”

The 2025 iteration of the holiday extravaganza will build on more than 90 years of tradition. The first Rockefeller tree lighting took place in 1933, giving New Yorkers a meaningful bit of Christmas cheer amid the Great Depression; in 1936, the famous ice-skating rink at Rockefeller Center opened, giving the ceremony its now-iconic backdrop.

This year, the tree — a Norway Spruce imported from East Greenbush, N.Y. — will measure at 75 feet tall and 45 feet wide, weighing approximately 11 tons. Topped with a three-dimensional Swarovski star, it’ll take more than 50,000 colorful LED lights to illuminate.

In 2024, the special was hosted by Kelly Clarkson and featured performances from the Backstreet Boys, Dan + Shay, Jennifer Hudson, Coco Jones, Little Big Town, RAYE and more.

bitchy | Princess Kate will host her annual Christmas carol event on December 5

by jummy84 November 14, 2025
written by jummy84

A few days ago, Netflix released the air date and poster for With Love, Meghan’s holiday special. It will be released on December 3. There was some muttering about Meghan “choosing” a release date which would be on or around the Princess of Wales’s big Christmas caroling event. Considering Kate hadn’t released any confirmation of anything yet, it was funny to watch the deranged community get huffy about it in advance. Well, good news for Kate – her Christmas event will be staged two days after the release of WLM’s Holiday Special.

Kate Middleton is continuing a Christmas tradition — with a little help from a Hollywood star. At midnight on Nov. 13, local time, Kensington Palace announced that the Princess of Wales, 43, will host her fifth annual “Together at Christmas” Carol Service on Friday, Dec. 5, at Westminster Abbey in London.

The announcement also revealed that Kate Winslet, Hannah Waddingham, Dan Smith and Chiwetel Ejiofor are all involved. Winslet, an Academy Award-winning actor, will attend after her appointment as an ambassador for The King’s Foundation, one of King Charles’ personal charities, in June.

As for what’s to come at the festive event on Dec. 5, a palace statement said, “Combining traditional and modern elements to encompass people of all faiths and none, the service will see the world-renowned Westminster Abbey choir sing some of the nation’s most beloved carols, alongside musical performances and readings by guests including Hannah Waddingham, Dan Smith, Kate Winslet and Chiwetel Ejiofor.”

“The Service will also showcase stories of some of the incredible guests in the congregation, who are leading by example and helping to create a more connected society,” it continued.

The theme for this year’s event is “love in all its forms.”

“This year, the Service will bring people together to celebrate love in all its forms — whether it’s love within families, through friendships, across communities or even through powerful moments of connection with strangers. In a world that can often feel fragmented and disconnected, love is the force that reconnects us all – spanning generations, communities, cultures and faiths,” the statement said.

“As we approach the Christmas season, we are reminded of the power of togetherness. The evening will highlight the transformative power of investing in one another with compassion, presence and joy,” it added.

[From People]

Hannah Waddingham is showing up the opening of an envelope these days, especially when it comes to anything royal or royal-adjacent. Good for her, in general, to strike while the iron is hot when she got her biggest break in her 40s. Kate Winslet is another one cozying up to the royals a lot lately, and I have no idea why. But Chiwetel?? Hm. Anyway, I’m sure the Princess of Wales will have all three kids there and maybe William will show up too. While this is barely discussed in the British media, the viewership for these specials has cratered in recent years. It will be interesting to see if any outlets try to do a head-to-head match-up between “Together at Christmas” and WLM’s Holiday Special.

“You’re in a different world when you’re in tree world.” 🎄🎄 Prime Video has revealed the amusing official trailer for The Merchants of Joy, a new documentary film made by filmmaker Celia Aniskovich. This is premiering soon at the 2025 DOC NYC Film Festival in the Big Apple and will also debut on Prime Video for streaming in December just after. It’s that time of year again! Get your glamorous green holiday decoration before they sell out! The film follows five NYC families as they source, bargain and hustle to sell Christmas trees, blending street smarts and holiday spirit. Described as “a warm, grounded portrait of pride, grit, and the joy they bring — one tree, one customer, one season at a time.” Anyone who has been in New York City around Christmastime has seen so many of these sellers out on street corners everywhere. I love the smell of pine trees and it’s always so exciting to try and find the perfect one for your home. This doc looks like it’s as much about the intense rivalry between these sellers as it is about the magic of Christmas trees. Looks good.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Celia Aniskovich’s doc film The Merchants of Joy, from YouTube:

In the city that never sleeps, five families hustle each winter to turn sidewalks into holiday outposts. The Merchants of Joy follows these Christmas die-hards as they source, sell, and safeguard a family tradition at risk. It’s a warm, grounded portrait of pride, grit, and the joy they bring—one tree, one customer, one season at a time. The Merchants of Joy is directed by the journalist / doc filmmaker Celia Aniskovich, director of the films Burn It Down!, Fruitcake Fraud, and Call Me Miss Cleo previously, plus other short films & projects. Based on The Epic Magazine & New York Magazine Article, “Secrets of the Christmas Tree Trade” by Owen Long. It’s produced by Celia Aniskovich, Zoe Vock, Arthur Spector, Joshua Davis, Joshuah Bearman. This is premiering at the 2025 DOC NYC Film Festival this month. Amazon debuts The Merchants of Joy streaming on Prime Video starting December 1st, 2025 coming soon. Anyone want to watch this?

Norah Jones, Leon Bridges Team Up on ‘This Christmas I’m Coming Home’

Bridges will follow the release with “A Merry Black Christmas” on Nov. 14

Norah Jones and Leon Bridges teamed up for a holiday single, “This Christmas I’m Coming Home.” The song was written by Jones and Leon Michels, and produced by Michels, and nods to Bridges’ 2015 track “Coming Home.”

The festive song sees Jones and Bridges trading verses about returning home for the holidays. “I wanna leave the world behind for now/ And forget about the trouble on my mind,” the pair sings. “I can sit by the fire and lose myself for a while/ And remember what was so hard to find.”

The track is the first of two holiday singles from Bridges. The musician will release “A Merry Black Christmas” on Nov. 14. His most recent album, Leon, arrived in 2024. Earlier this year, Jones teamed up Charley Crocket for with the Crooner & the Cowboy Tour, which wrapped in September.

Jones has shared numerous Christmas tunes over the years. In 2021, she dropped her first holiday album, I Dream of Christmas, a collection of both classics and originals. The LP was produced by Michels, who also worked on this new collaboration.

“I’ve always loved Christmas music but never had the inclination to make a holiday album until now,” Jones said at the time. “Last year I found myself listening to James Brown’s Funky Christmas and Elvis’s Christmas Album on Sundays during lockdown for a sense of comfort. In January 2021, I started thinking about making a Christmas album of my own. It gave me something fun to work on and look forward to.”

Hunter Hayes Unveils ‘Evergreen’ Holiday EP; Chosen as Grand Marshal for 2025 Gatlinburg Christmas Parade

Hunter Hayes is stepping into the 2025 holiday season in a major way. The Grammy-nominated, multi-instrumentalist and Platinum-selling artist has spent the past year in his Evergreen era – marked by genre-bending production, soulful storytelling, and a mission to celebrate growth. This December, Hayes will serve as the Grand Marshal for the 50th Anniversary of the Gatlinburg Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade, which is set for December 5th in Tennessee. Before he waves to tens of thousands of fans along the Smoky Mountain parade route, Hayes is gifting fans an early present today (November 7th), with the arrival of his Evergreen Christmas Sessions EP.

The four-song project features Hayes’ signature blend of intricate musicianship and heartfelt takes through timeless holiday favorites. Opening with a glistening, jazz-inflected rendition of “Winter Wonderland,” the track flows seamlessly into a tender version of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” Hayes then delivers a hushed, soulful “Silent Night” before cutting loose with a bluesy, good-time spin on the holiday classic “Run Run Rudolph.”

“There’s a calm and peaceful Christmas vibe to the EP, which was intentional,” Hayes tells Spin. “For me, Christmas music has always been about spending time with family and friends – the people you love. And I hope this project becomes part of those yearly traditions.”

Recorded in Los Angeles with his band during a few days off from tour last July, Evergreen Christmas Sessions serves as a companion to Hayes’ larger Evergreen vision – a side chapter inspired by the same themes of growth, gratitude and connection, reimagined through holiday classics. The project follows the Evergreen songs released earlier this year: “Around the Sun,” “Wait,  “Fragile,” and “Every Piece.”  Known for his electrifying live shows and his ability to make even the quietest moments feel intimate, Hayes approached the sessions with the same spirit he brings to the stage. “This project felt like a jam session with family,” Hayes says.

When the award-winning Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade commemorates its 50th year next month, 80,000 attendees will line the streets of Gatlinburg to witness Hayes lead the celebration. The Smoky Mountain fete is recognized as one of the Top 20 Events in the Southeast and will feature 70 to 90 lighted floats, plus marching bands, giant balloons, and of course, Santa Claus himself. The annual festivity will also  broadcast nationwide on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day on local television stations in over 40 markets throughout the U.S. and available to stream to over 100 million viewers through a collaborative partnership with Nexstar.

As for his Grand Marshal honor, Hayes – a Louisiana native – says, “I have a deep love and appreciation for that whole part of Tennessee. Gatlinburg seems to call to all of us around Christmas, and I have incredibly fond memories of being there during the holidays with my family as a young performer. When I was asked to participate, it felt like the perfect way to celebrate the Evergreen Christmas Sessions release.”

Now in its 50th year, the Gatlinburg Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade has grown to become one of the nation’s most enchanting holiday traditions. The 2025 Grand Marshal sponsor is Ole Smoky Distillery, a longtime Gatlinburg institution known for its craft moonshine and whiskey.

With Hayes front and center, this year’s celebration promises to be truly unforgettable. The Evergreen Christmas Sessions EP, meanwhile, makes for the perfect soundtrack to a December night spent by the fire, with the Christmas tree glowing and the season in full swing.
