Billy Idol Teams Up with Composer J. Ralph on “Dying to Live”

by jummy84 November 15, 2025
written by jummy84

Billy Idol has collaborated with composer J. Ralph on the song “Dying to Live,” as featured in the documentary Billy Idol Should Be Dead. The cinematic tune shares lyrics with the title track to Idol’s most recent studio LP, Dream Into It, but was actually written and recorded first, prior to the rock version heard on the album.

The song features symphonic elements, and serves as the soundtrack to the coda sequence of the film, which debuted earlier this year at the Tribeca Festival, and will hit streaming services beginning in early 2026. A music video can be seen below.

“It’s quite something watching a documentary about your own life,” stated Idol. “Seeing the landscape of my story all laid out inspired me to want to write a song for the end of the film that brings together what I saw in the film; all the strands of my life really. It was thrilling to work together with J. Ralph. Symphonic music has a unique cinematic authenticity, we felt this was essential to capturing the range of emotions the climactic moment of the film called for.”

Billy Bob Thornton, Sam Elliott on Taylor Sheridan’s Exit, Landman's Future

Billy Bob Thornton, Sam Elliott on Taylor Sheridan’s Exit, Landman’s Future

by jummy84 November 12, 2025

Landman stars are opening up about Taylor Sheridan‘s future departure.

Last month, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Sheridan, the co-creator and writer, would be leaving the show’s home at Paramount for NBCUniversal, with a film deal set to begin next year. However, his TV deal with Paramount doesn’t start until the end of 2028, and then, he will go to NBCUniversal.

While premiering the second season of the hit Paramount+ series Landman, Billy Bob Thornton, who plays oil crisis manager Tommy Norris, shared his thoughts on Sheridan’s move. “I think the shows that are at Paramount, stay at Paramount, so I don’t think those are affected,” Thornton told THR on the red carpet. “His deal is for the future. And who knows what that holds. Taylor is a brilliant guy, and I’m sure wherever he goes, whatever he does is gonna be successful, at least I know it’ll be real.”

Landman newcomer for this season, Sam Elliot, who plays T.L. and is Tommy’s (Thornton) father, offered a similar take to Thornton. “It’s not gonna impact the future of this series because everything that Taylor had at Paramount is gonna stay at Paramount. It’s not like he’s taking it there,” Elliot told THR. “The Universal thing, as I understand, it’s a whole new deal, so it’s just great for Taylor’s world. I think it’s fantastic.”

When Landman season one premiered in November of last year, it drew 5.2 million viewers, the top Paramount+ series debut in two years since Sheridan’s additional series, Yellowstone prequel 1923, drew 7.4 million cross-platform viewers in December 2022. Thornton went on to describe how he “absolutely” felt pressure to have the second season live up to its predecessor.

“Anytime you have a success and it’s going to continue, there’s always pressure to make sure that it continues. If you’re making movies, you do a sequel, theres always pressure,” he told THR. “So, we felt it, but once you start, you just have to forget that and go out there and do your job.”

Thornton’s TV daughter, Michelle Randolph, who plays Ainsley Norris, thinks Landman won’t be stopping anytime soon. “There’s so many stories to tell. There’s so many really distinct characters, I feel like we could go on and on and on because what I always have to remind myself — the first season was 10 days in the show so I’m like, we could film the show for so long because it’s not like it’s one season, taking place over a year or anything,” she told THR. “There’s so much room for growth in every single character; they’re all deeply flawed in their own ways, which is what makes them really enticing to watch because it’s very human.”

Randolph also described what it was like to welcome Demi Moore back to the ensemble, this time with a larger role. “I love working with Demi. And also, Pilaf was on set, her cute little dog,” she said. “Horoscope-wise, it was the luckiest day of the year, everyone kept telling me, and I was on set with Demi, Sam Elliott, Andy Garcia, Billy Bob, Ali Larter — I just had to pinch myself.”

Landman season two debuts on Paramount+ Nov. 16.

“You don’t even know the game you’re playing, do you?” Paramount+ has revealed one final official trailer for the next thrilling season of the West Texas oil series called Landman, created by Taylor Sheridan. The first season dropped in November last year – the second season is already lined up to drop in November this year. The first was a huge hit and Sheridan moves fast – it’s shot entirely on location in Texas and he loves to go big when something clicks with audiences. Billy Bob Thornton is returns again as an oil man in this series based on the “Boomtown” podcast series (and real stories from the oil biz down in Texas). “You think you understand how this business works, but you don’t.” Things are heating up in this season of Landman. Tommy faces new pressures at home and also at M-Tex Oil, where Cami pushes him to the brink. Don’t be surprised if something – or someone – breaks. The returning cast includes Thornton with Demi Moore, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, and James Jordan. Major new roles in Season 2 include Colm Feore, Andy Garcia (from the end of Season 1), and Sam Elliott. This looks even more intense to watch! Crime and corruption and oil go hand-in-hand.

Here’s all three trailers (+ final poster) for Taylor Sheridan’s series Landman – Season 2, from YouTube:

Wilco, Billy Bragg To Join Forces Again At Solid Sound

Wilco, Billy Bragg To Join Forces Again At Solid Sound

by jummy84 October 23, 2025
written by jummy84

Between 1998 and 2012, Wilco and British troubadour Billy Bragg released three Mermaid Avenue albums inspired by a trunk of unpublished Woody Guthrie lyrics uncovered by his family. However, beyond a handful of brief shared appearances, the musicians never worked their way through those most of the songs in a live setting.

That will change next summer, when Wilco and Bragg will finally team up onstage at the band’s long-running Solid Sound festival. The event will return June 26-28 to MASS MoCA in North Adams, Ma., with the Mermaid Avenue live celebration set for opening night. Tickets are on sale now.

“The world needs all the Woody Guthrie it can get,” says Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy. “We’re thrilled that we get to bring these songs to life with Billy.” Adds Bragg, “there’s an abiding love out there for the Mermaid Avenue albums, so I’m really looking forward to reconnecting with Wilco to bring Woody’s words to life once again.”

When folk pioneer Guthrie died from Huntington’s disease in 1967, he left behind more than a thousand sets of lyrics that were housed in a trunk. His daughter Nora left them undisturbed until 1995, when she asked longtime fan Bragg if he’d be interested in setting some of the words to music. Bragg suggested Wilco join him in the endeavor, which first bore fruit with the acclaimed Mermaid Avenue in 1998.

A second volume was released in 2000, and in 2012, The Complete Sessions boxed set arrived with a third disc of previously unheard outtakes from the original sessions. Wilco has long featured Mermaid Avenue material such as “California Stars,” “Hesitating Beauty,” “Hoodoo Voodoo” and “Airline to Heaven” in its own live sets.

“What could’ve been an embalming is instead a boozy séance, conjuring Guthrie’s ghost with some lost song lyrics and a clan who employ the mythic folkie as mirror,” SPIN wrote of the 1998 album. “The apparition rocks, sighs, casts a vote for Jesus, propositions Ingrid Bergman and generally makes everyone look good.”

Choosing the opening night of Solid Sound for the debut full live Wilco/Bragg pairing is apropos considering Tweedy and company have routinely drawn from their bag of tricks for the occasion. Indeed, Wilco has played sets with all rarities, all covers, front-to-back album plays and even a karaoke evening where it served as the backing band for specially chosen fan vocalists.

In related news, Tweedy will be a couch guest on tonight’s (Oct. 23) episode of The Daily Show. He’s in the midst of tour on his own and with his eponymous solo band, which will run through Nov. 21 in Madison, Wi., and then resume Feb. 11 in Madrid.

For now, Wilco’s only other non-Solid Sound performances for 2026 will be at its Sky Blue Sky festival in Riviera Maya, Mexico, from Jan. 15-18. That event will also feature Dinosaur Jr., Dr. Dog, MJ Lenderman, Yo La Tengo and Michael Shannon and Jason Narducy playing the music of R.E.M.

written by jummy84

EXCLUSIVE: Billy Magnussen and Lulu Wilson have signed to co-star in Joe Lynch’s horror comedy Buzzkill ahead of an early 2026 shoot in Texas, as Anonymous Content and The Veterans join forces to launch sales on the film at the AFM.

Billed as a blend of A Quiet Place and Another Round, the movie is set in a small Texas town terrorized by a creature that can only be seen by people who are drunk.

Magnussen stars as recently widowed and recovering alcoholic Sheriff Red, who launches an investigation as locals begin turning up murdered and dismembered one by one, discovering that the monster feeds on the blood alcohol content of its victims.

With the annual brewery festival fast approaching, the whole town is about to get wasted. Red must face his demons and pick up the bottle one last time to take down the monster and save his town for good. Wilson co-stars as Lydia, Red’s vengeful little sister.

Lynch – whose previous credits include action-thriller Everly and action-horror Mayhem as well as Netflix’s Point Blank, Shudder’s original fantastic horror anthology Creepshow (2021), and the pilot episode of Tales from the Void (2024) – will direct from a screenplay written by Colin McLaughlin.

Brothers Dane and Cole Eckerle are producing through their company Bad Grey, the credits of which include titles like Last Straw and Mother, May I?.

Individually, Dane produced I Love My Dad which won the Audience Award and Grand Jury Prize at SXSW in 2022 and then sold to Magnolia. He also served as an EP on Greedy People with Joseph Gordon Levitt, Lily James, Himesh Patel, Simon Rex and Jim Gaffigan, which was released by Lionsgate last year.

“Colin has crafted a story that’s equal parts hilarious, scary and action-packed — an entertaining romp from start to finish,” said Dane Eckerle.

“Joe Lynch’s track record and ability to create high-octane genre chaos makes him the perfect filmmaker for the job. Add our stars, Billy and Lulu, plus our partners at Anonymous Content and The Veterans — and we couldn’t think of a better team to be brewing this movie alongside.”

Jonathan Schwartz and Nick Shumaker will produce on behalf of Anonymous Content with David Levine executive producing. Magnussen will also produce under his company HappyBad Bungalow, alongside partners Anne Hollister and Shane Andries who serve as co-executive producers.

AC Studios division AC Independent and The Veterans will have a sizzle reel and script available for buyers at the AFM. The Veterans will handle international territories and AC Independent will sell U.S. rights with UTA Independent Film Group.

Magnussen broke through with Rob Marshall’s Into the Woods with other credits including Guy Richie’s Aladdin, the Black Mirror TV Series, and No Time to Die.

He also starred as Pleakley in Disney’s live-action hit Lilo & Stitch and Road House alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor. He was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actor for his role in the play, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. He will next star as the lead in AMC’s upcoming 2026 series The Audacity from creator Jonathan Glatzer.

Wilson will be seen next in an upcoming Hulu feature alongside Gaten Matarazzo and Sean Giambrone, directed by comedy duo BriTANicK, while she is best known for her horror roles in Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016) and Annabelle: Creation (2017), as well as Mike Flanagan Netflix series The Haunting of Hill House (2018), and The Fall of the House of Usher (2023) and the soon-to-be triptych Becky (2020), The Wrath of Becky (2023) and the upcoming third instalment.

Magnussen is repped by UTA, Anonymous Content and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern. Wilson is repped by UTA, Authentic Talent & Literary Management, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman Wertheimer Mandelbaum Morris Bernstein Trattner Auerbach Hynick Jaime LeVine Sample & Klein. DHS Uses "Billy Madison" Quote To Respond To Strategist's Criticism

DHS Uses “Billy Madison” Quote To Respond To Strategist’s Criticism

by jummy84 October 13, 2025
written by jummy84

When Democratic political strategist Maria Cardona blasted the Immigration and Customs Enforcement actions for violating citizens’ rights, the Trump administration responded with a quote from Billy Madison.

After appearing on CNN on Monday morning, Cardona posted on X, “ICE is engaging in egregious, criminal behavior, violating peoples’ civil rights, kidnapping, and snatching innocent men, women, and children off the streets, even detaining American citizens! While doing it, not identifying themselves, hiding their faces, not telling people why they are being taken. This is not normal! This is not American! This is not acceptable! And videotaping these agents, asking them questions, and even hollering that they should not be doing this, does not in any way constitute a ‘violent attack’ against these agents! It is part of the Constitution, to peacefully protest violent behavior against innocent people, and American citizens!”

The Department of Homeland Security responded, “What you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things Americans have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent statement were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone is now dumber for having listened to it.”

That is a quote from the 1995 Adam Sandler comedy, in which the principal tells him, “Mr. Madison, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.”

In the DHS statement, the department argued that “far from engaging in criminal behavior, federal law enforcement actions have significantly REDUCED crime in the cities we have been deployed to. Locking up criminals works, imagine that.”

But DHS did not address Cardona’s criticisms that non-violent legal immigrants and even citizens have been caught up in ICE raids, by what amounts to a secret police force given the lack of uniforms or other information. Videos collected by bystanders have popped up every day, showing some of the raids. Last week, a video surfaced of an ICE officer who shot a member of the clergy who had been outside a processing facility in Chicago. ICE spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin later said that “these agitators were blocking an ICE vehicle from leaving the federal facility—impeding operations.”

In response to the DHS message, Cardona wrote, “Really @DHSgov? You respond with a quote from Billy Madison? That proves just how unserious, sophomoric, and incompetent you all are. Which would be funny if you all weren’t so deadly dangerous to the communities you are terrorizing! You are also dead wrong! The vast majority of the ppl you are detaining ARE NOT violent criminals, 93% have no violent criminal history whatsoever! There are REAMS of videos of you slamming women, children, and elderly ppl to the ground, shooting pepper balls at priests, even kidnapping American citizens!! THAT is not acceptable, it IS criminal and it is UNAMERICAN!”

“Bad blood runs deep.” IFC has revealed the official trailer for a revenge thriller film titled Violent Ends, an indie creation written and directed by John-Michael Powell as his second feature film. This will be out in limited theaters at the end of October – starting on Halloween – for anyone who wants to watch. A southern revenge crime thriller of star-crossed lovers set against the backdrop of the Ozark Mountains, Violent Ends chronicles the life of Lucas Frost, an honest man brought up in a crime family whose only legacy is violence. As Lucas tries to make a peaceful life of his own with his fiancée, Emma, he is suddenly pulled back into the family business when his cousin, Eli, perpetrates an armed robbery with brutal consequences. Starring Billy Magnussen as Lucas, James Badge Dale, Kate Burton, Ray McKinnon, Nick Stahl, & Alexandra Shipp as Emma. This looks better than it should, though another similar cliche crime story in a small town.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for John-Michael Powell’s film Violent Ends, direct from YouTube:
