Sameer Wankhede’s Scathing Attack On ‘The Bads Of Bollywood’ – What’s Going On?! | Glamsham.com

by jummy84 November 1, 2025
written by jummy84

IRS officer and former NCB Mumbai Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede has accused Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and his production company Red Chillies Entertainment of launching a “calculated hit job” against him through their Netflix web series The Bads of Bollywood. The controversy stems from Wankhede’s claim that the show’s portrayal of a government officer is a deliberate caricature designed to tarnish his image, following the high-profile 2021 cruise ship drug case involving Shah Rukh Khan’s son, Aryan Khan.

In a response filed before the Delhi High Court, Wankhede dismissed Red Chillies Entertainment’s argument that the series is merely a satire. He described it instead as a “sleazeball attempt” to malign his reputation and credibility. “The character of a government officer depicted in the series was deliberately modeled on me,” Wankhede asserted, noting what he called “striking similarities” in the character’s appearance, speech, and even the use of his signature phrase, Satyamev Jayate.

According to Wankhede, the content of the show constitutes a “premeditated and malicious campaign” to ridicule and ruin his professional and personal life. “The defendants cannot take the convenient veil of satire or artistic expression to justify a malicious act,” he said, urging action from the court on the defamatory content.

On the other hand, Red Chillies Entertainment has categorically denied all allegations. The studio maintains that The Bads of Bollywood is a situational satire that explores the absurdities of celebrity culture, media frenzy, and the public’s perception of law enforcement in India. “The series is a work of fiction inspired by real-world events but does not target or defame any real individual,” the company said in its official response.

The production house further argued that Wankhede’s claims are “wholly misconceived and devoid of value.” It warned that the removal of the contested scenes could disrupt the series’ creative and narrative integrity. Red Chillies also emphasized that Wankhede was already a public figure and “a subject of extensive public commentary” before the release of the show, implying that the series did not create or amplify any new controversy about him.

Operating at the intersection of artistic freedom and defamation, the case continues to unfold in the Delhi High Court, with neither side budging from their respective positions.

Emraan Hashmi REVEALS Real-Life Incident Inspired Ba***ds Of Bollywood Kaho Na Kaho Scene With Raghav Juyal

It has been over a month since Aryan Khan’s Netflix series The Ba***ds of Bollywood premiered, and it continues to attract attention. An unexpected highlight has taken the internet by storm: Emraan Hashmi’s cameo with Raghav Juyal singing Kaho Na Kaho. From Instagram reels to tweets and WhatsApp groups, his brief appearance has quickly become a fan favourite.

Emraan Hashmi REVEALS Real-Life Incident Inspired Kaho Na Kaho Scene With Raghav Juyal

The most memorable moment occurs when Raghav Juyal, portraying a devoted Emraan Hashmi fan in the series, is so starstruck upon meeting his idol that he suddenly breaks into the song “Kaho Na Kaho” from Murder. Emraan himself is left speechless, watching him sing with such passion. As the scene trends across social media, Emraan shared with SCREEN how this moment reflects something from his own life, and how Aryan Khan and co-writers Manav Chauhan and Bilal Siddiqi drew inspiration from it.

“The writer is a very good friend of mine, Bilal. And I have a sneaky feeling that he’s actually taken it from one of my birthday celebrations I had with a fan, where he was also there. This was below my building, and you can see it on, it must be on YouTube also. There’s this fan who started off singing and just wouldn’t stop, and there was this embarrassed expression on my face. Bilal was there; I know he’s taken it from there only,” Emraan explained.

He also reflected on the overwhelming fan response to his cameo, especially to the viral line from the series: “Akha Bollywood ek taraf, Emraan Hashmi ek taraf” (All of Bollywood on one side, Emraan Hashmi on the other). “It’s quite amazing how it’s stuck with people, it’s unbelievable. I went to shoot in Bangkok, and over there also, obviously there’s an Indian population, a sizable one, and this is one thing that’s just stuck like a viral thing,” he added.

Currently, Emraan Hashmi is preparing for his next project with Yami Gautam, Haq, which is based on the infamous Shah Bano case.

Shashi Tharoor Slams 'Paid Review' Accusations After Heats Up Debate Around The Ba*ds Of Bollywood

Shashi Tharoor Slams ‘Paid Review’ Accusations After Heats Up Debate Around The Ba*ds Of Bollywood

by jummy84 October 28, 2025
written by jummy84

In a rare crossover between politics and cinema commentary, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has stirred discussion after praising the streaming series The Ba***ds of Bollywood — created and directed by Aryan Khan — only to be accused of providing a “paid review.” Tharoor responded swiftly and firmly: “I am not for sale,” he declared.

What Tharoor said

On 27 October 2025, Tharoor took to X (formerly Twitter) to laud the series, calling it “a fearless and witty satire” with strong storytelling and congratulating both Aryan Khan and his father, superstar Shah Rukh Khan, on their cinematic ambition.

His praise, however, sparked backlash when a social-media user accused him of a paid endorsement:

“Must be a paid review.”
Tharoor’s reply was immediate and unequivocal: “I am not for sale.”

The charge and the counter-charge

The accusation of a paid review emerged purely on social-media speculation. Tharoor’s tweet was purely positive; there was no disclosed transaction or official tie-in mentioned. Still, the timing raised eyebrows: the series had recently premiered on a major streaming platform and the usual flurry of promotional activity was underway.

Tharoor, known for his erudition and frequent commentary on international affairs, reaffirmed that his appraisal was based on his own viewing and analysis, not payment or arrangement. Importantly, no independent evidence has surfaced to prove he received any compensation in connection with the review.

Why the overheated reaction matters

The incident underlines how celebrity, media and politics intersect in India today.

A sitting MP commenting on a film is unusual but not unprecedented — Tharoor combines roles as writer, speaker and politician. The mention of Shah Rukh Khan’s name elevated the attention; the Khan family’s cultural clout ensured the series and associated commentary became news. Pay-for-praise allegations speak to broader concerns about transparency in film promotion, influencer marketing and audience trust. Tharoor’s emphatic denial attempts to reinforce his personal brand of intellectual independence.

“My appreciation is for storytelling, not star-power,” he conveyed in subsequent posts.

Broader impact

The exchange provoked larger questions about the relationship between commentary and commerce. If a well-known public figure tweets a positive review, is it inherently promotional—or simply an opinion? Tharoor’s case suggests the boundary is shifting, with sceptical online publics quick to assume the worst.

For Aryan Khan’s series, the incident generated added visibility — both for praise and controversy. “In a way, the kerfuffle did exactly what the show’s marketing needs: It got people talking,” one industry watcher told Times of India.

Where it goes from here

As of now, there are no formal inquiries into Tharoor’s tweet. The matter remains confined to social-media chatter and entertainment-news cycles. Tharoor appears likely to move on, unless additional evidence emerges.

Whether the “paid review” label sticks or fades, the episode serves as a caution: in an age of sponsored content and curated narratives, even a positive tweet can be read as tainted unless the commentator clearly establishes independence.

For Tharoor, the message was clear and personal:

“If I’m being compensated, I will say so. Until then, assume sincerity.”

For audiences, it’s a reminder to treat media praise — especially from public figures — with a measure of scepticism and context.

‘I Am Not For Sale’, Shashi Tharoor Clarifies After Being Accused of “Paid Review” for Aryan Khan’s The Ba***ds of Bollywood

Congress leader and author Shashi Tharoor recently found himself at the center of controversy after he praised Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Ba***ds of Bollywood. What began as an enthusiastic appreciation post soon spiraled into a heated online debate, forcing Tharoor to issue a clarification following accusations of posting a paid review. After watching The Ba***ds of Bollywood on Netflix, Tharoor took to social media platform X to share his admiration for the series and Aryan Khan’s work.

Shashi Tharoor Clarifies Air

The veteran politician lauded the show’s witty writing, bold satire, and sharp direction, calling Aryan’s debut a true storytelling triumph. In his post, Tharoor wrote, “I just watched Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Ba***ds of Bollywood, and I’m at a loss for words. It takes time to impress you, but then you’re completely hooked! The writing is sharp, the direction unflinching, and the fearlessness of this satire is exactly what Bollywood needed.”

He further praised the show’s tone and execution, saying, “A brilliant, funny, sometimes moving, and always unapologetic series that tackles every cinematic cliché with a sharp edge. Seven compelling episodes mark the arrival of a true storytelling force.” He even congratulated Shah Rukh Khan, adding, “Aryan Khan, thank you, you’ve delivered a masterpiece. Shah Rukh Khan, from one father to another, I have to say: you should be so proud.”

Shashi Tharoor

Shortly after his glowing review, several social media users began trolling Tharoor, accusing him of being part of a promotional campaign. One user wrote, “Shashi Tharoor’s new side business, paid reviews.” However, Tharoor did not remain silent. The Congress MP swiftly responded to the allegations with a firm denial, “I’m not for sale, my friend. I’ve never been paid in cash or kind for any opinion I’ve expressed.”

Exclusive: I Was Lucky to Have Aryan Khan Direct Me- Neville Bharucha on The Ba***ds of Bollywood

by jummy84 October 21, 2025
written by jummy84

When comedian, actor and improv trainer Neville Bharucha first received a call to audition for Aryan Khan’s show The Ba***ds of Bollywood, he almost turned it down. At that time, he was working as a school teacher and wasn’t confident about doing a Hindi web series, but after some convincing, he agreed. And what followed was one of the best auditions he had done, eventually landing him the role of DJ Adam. Though he had a brief screen time, Neville’s performance left a lasting impact. Filmfare caught up with him for a candid chat where he reflected on his journey with the series, from his first encounter with Aryan Khan and working alongside veterans like Manoj Pahwa, to the surreal experience of meeting Shah Rukh Khan.

How did you land an opportunity of working in The Bads Of Bollywood?

I remember getting the call while I was sitting at Bangalore Airport. I initially refused because I was a school teacher at the time, and my Hindi isn’t great, so a web series didn’t seem like the best idea. But the lady on the phone convinced me to go for the audition. I went, and it turned out to be one of the best auditions I’ve ever done. I remember walking out, calling my wife, and telling her, “I think I’m going to get this part.” And sure enough, a month later, I got a call from the same guy who took the audition, who, by the way, did a fantastic job, too.

How was your first meeting with Aryan? The first time I met Aryan was when I had gone to the Red Chillies office for a table read. I entered the building and I rushed toward the elevator, pressed the button, and someone stopped me from getting in until I heard a voice from inside say, “No, no, let him in.” I stepped in, and there he was, Aryan Khan. He greeted me very warmly as if we had known each other for years, exchanged pleasantries, and I was surprised that he already knew quite a bit about me. He’d clearly done his research, and that was the start of something wonderful.
Can you recall any significant moment from the first table read?

The first feeling I had at the table read was, wow, this is probably one of the coolest things I’ve ever been a part of. That table read was truly fascinating. Watching everyone bring their characters to life was incredible. I remember looking down at my script, hearing the others read, and thinking, Oh my god, the talent these guys have. I honestly couldn’t wait to see how it would all translate on screen, and it turned out outstanding. It was such a wonderful feeling, something I’d never experienced before, and honestly, it was just next level.

What kind of brief did you get for your character from Aryan?
The brief for the character was fantastic. Aryan gave me a clear vision and was super open to my interpretation. He described someone irreverent, fun, deeply focused on his music, confident, and a little out there, and I feel I embodied that well. Everyone seemed to respond positively to the role. It was a super fun character to play. In some ways, it was a bit close to me, but also completely different. I would never wear the clothes DJ Adam wore! Still, it was a blast, and they made me look super cool.
What’s the best compliment you have received for your performance?

All compliments are the best. There isn’t one that’s better than another; it’s just really lovely to have people reach out. Friends from school and college, a couple of teachers, even people I’ve only had fleeting interactions with, have messaged to congratulate me. The most annoyingly sweet part, though, is when people click on my Instagram ads for improv classes just to say, “Hey, I don’t want to take your class, just wanted to say congrats on the show.” It’s very kind, but I pay for every click! So essentially, I’m paying Meta for compliments. Appreciate the love but just DM me, ya! Or better yet, sign up for the class. It’s a fun one.

Tell us about your onscreen and off-screen dynamic with Manoj Pahwa, since most of your scenes were with him.

On-screen and off-screen, it was exactly the same fun, full of masti, and just pure chemistry. From day one, the relationship we’ve shared has had so many unspoken moments that come through beautifully on screen. I’ve had the best time shooting with him. He’s such a brilliant actor, there’s so much depth even in the things he doesn’t say. It was truly my absolute pleasure, and honestly, a privilege to work with a veteran like him.

Was there any scene where you broke character or improvised?
For me, comedy comes naturally, so luckily, this wasn’t a very serious character. There was never a moment when I broke character; it all flowed together. A lot of my reactions to the dialogues came instinctively and were probably improvised. Some moments here and there were definitely added on the spot. But that’s the beauty of it, even I, as the actor, can’t always tell what was improvised and what was scripted. It’s all merged seamlessly into one for me.

What kind of a director was Aryan?

Aryan was an incredible director; he has the best facial expressions, so he can always communicate exactly what’s going on in his mind. He’s very open to your interpretation, too, so we’d often try multiple variations of the same scene, which made the process so exciting. He’s always encouraging, always present with his thoughts, and so sharp and thorough that it genuinely inspires you to give your best. Calling him calm would be an understatement; he’s one of the most chilled-out people I’ve worked with. You hear stories about high-pressure sets, but Aryan made everything feel effortless. I was genuinely lucky to have someone like him direct me; I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Did you get to interact with SRK on or off set?

We’ve met a couple of times, and it’s always been surreal. You see, this man is probably the most loved person in the entire world, and yet, when he talks to you, it feels like you’re the only person that matters in that moment. First time at Mannat; it was late, we were about to leave, and he just came up to us and started chatting. When it was time to go, he personally came and saw each of us out and said goodbye individually. He’s the warmest gentleman around, a true testament to what good values and genuine kindness look like. It’s no wonder the entire world loves him. Even when he met my wife at the screening, he was an absolute delight. She was over the moon. Her exact words to me after meeting him were, “Our marriage has finally paid off.”

Neville Bharucha
Tell us something special about the premiere night…

The premiere night was surreal, the kind of thing people dream about. You hear about it, you see it, but when it actually happens to you, it’s a blur. Walking the carpet, meeting all the people you’ve shared the most wonderful times with, seeing your work on the big screen, going on stage, meeting everyone, it was something else entirely. Afterwards, everyone was so gracious and happy to be together; the whole gang was buzzing with joy. As much as it felt like a culmination, it was really just the beginning. The world hadn’t seen the show yet. In short, it was the perfect start to the rollercoaster of the past few weeks.

What’s the one most significant moment or memory that you would take away from the show?

What I really enjoyed was the time on set when everyone was together, me, Lakshya, Raghav (Juyal), Manoj sir, and Anya (Singh). We’d all have lunch together, and it was such a nice hour to decompress, chat, and just hang out. Those moments, where we really got to know each other, are some of the nicest memories I’ve ever had.

Just a lot of improv teaching, tons of kids’ creative writing classes, improv classes, and doing improv shows. We have shows almost every week or every alternate week at The Habitat, which is always amazing because I love performing live and making people laugh. Those shows are a blast. On top of that, I teach weekend improv classes that I run, and just soaking in everything the work has to offer. That’s about it.

Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, made his directorial debut with the Netflix web series “The Ba***ds of Bollywood.” The show has received mixed reactions from audiences and critics alike. While many praised Aryan’s bold storytelling and satirical take on the film industry, comedian Sunil Pal has strongly criticized it for mocking Bollywood.

Sunil Pal

Sunil Pal Criticized Aryan Khan

In an interview with one of the media houses, Sunil Pal expressed his disappointment, saying, “You are criticizing the same Bollywood that made your father such a superstar!” He added that Aryan should have shown more respect toward the industry that has given his family so much fame and success. Let us tell you that Shah Rukh Khan, who has ruled Bollywood for more than 33 years, has delivered countless blockbusters and established himself as one of the most loved actors globally.

Interestingly, SRK himself appears in a cameo role in Aryan’s show, which also pokes fun at several well-known actors and industry practices. Despite this, none of the celebrities who were referenced or portrayed in the show have publicly objected to its content. Sunil Pal further stated that Aryan had all the resources and support to create something more inspiring. He said, “Aryan had no shortage of fame, money, or platform. If he had waited for five more years and worked harder, he could have made something even Sanjay Leela Bhansali would have appreciated.”

“The Bads of Bollywood” features an impressive ensemble cast including Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, Bobby Deol, Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, Mona Singh, and Manoj Pahwa. Several Bollywood celebrities, such as Karan Johar, Emraan Hashmi, and Shah Rukh Khan, make special cameo appearances. The series, streaming on Netflix, explores the darker and humorous sides of the glamour industry, blending satire with social commentary. While Aryan Khan’s debut has sparked controversy, it has also established him as a daring new voice in modern storytelling, one unafraid to question the very world he comes from.

Arbaaz Merchant Opens Up About Aryan Khan After Years, Teases The Ba***ds of Bollywood Season 2

by jummy84 October 2, 2025
written by jummy84

Aryan Khan’s friend Arbaaz Merchant has shared a heartfelt appreciation post for the director after the release of his show, The Ba***ds of Bollywood. This marks the first time since their 2021 cruise ship case that Arbaaz has spoken so openly about Aryan. He shared photos from the premiere night and reminisced about their childhood.

Arbaaz began the note by writing, “To Aryan – I remember when we were kids and I asked you, when do we expect to see you in the movies and you said it straight up, “I don’t want to be in the movies, but one day I’ll be making the best movies out there.” And Now, you have taken your first steps as a professional Film Maker. Not only it’s awesome, but it’s also the best show on Indian soil, By far. I’m so damn proud of you. May you continue to bring the best out of your scripts, actors, crew and everyone around you, just like you have, since the last 28 years of your life. Wishing (more like predicting) that you have the best career of all time. Now go and impress the world brother, we really can’t wait for more. (sic)”

He then appreciated Aryan’s co-writers and associates, Manav Chauhan, Ankit Dahiya and Ujwal Gupta. Arbaaz also extended the congratulatory message to the crew and ended his note by teasing season 2 of the show. He wrote, “To the crew, rest up, season 2 starts soon B****ds of Bollywood, out now on Netflix.”

Take a look at his post:

The first photo in the carousel is a solo still of Aryan from the day when his show was announced. It is followed by more photos from the premiere night, along with reviews of the show. This post comes after years of silence following the drug-related case in October 2021, when Aryan, Arbaaz, and others were detained during the NCB cruise raid. Since then, Arbaaz has rarely spoken publicly about Aryan.
Meanwhile, The Ba**ds of Bollywood, which marked Shah Rukh Khan’s son’s directorial debut, stars Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, Bobby Deol, Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, Manoj Pahwa, Rajat Bedi and others.

‘Just did my job’: Actor playing narcotics cop on Aryan Khan’s The Bads of Bollywood opens up on Sameer Wankhede row

by jummy84 September 29, 2025

Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Ba***ds of Bollywood, has been in the news ever since its release on Netflix earlier this month. The satire on the Hindi film industry has been praised by fans for its irreverent tone and ability to take potshots at everyone. However, not everyone seems to be loving it. Former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede sued the show, Aryan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Netflix for defamation, claiming that the character of a narcotics officer on the show parodies him and defames him.

Sameer Wankhede has said that a character (left) played by Ashish Kumar in Aryan Khan’s The Ba***ds of Bollywood defames him.

Even as the Delhi High Court heard Wankhede’s petition last week and found it not maintainable, the actor who plays the narcotics cop on the show, has opened up on his portrayal, and reacted to the charge that the character is based on Sameer Wankhede.

Actor Ashish Kumar breaks silence

Actor Ashish Kumar plays the officer on the show, described in the credits simply as ‘plain-clothed cop’. The actor shared a picture of himself thanking fans on a newly-created Instagram account, and expressed surprise at how well the character has been received. The post received lots of comments of appreciation from fans of the show. “Small role , big impact,” commented one viewer. Another added, “Aap to main MVP ho pure show ke (You are the MVP of the whole show.”

Some, however, chimed in about the character’s alleged similarities to Sameer Wankhede. One comment read, “Bhai Woh Dhoondh raha he (brother they are looking for you).” When Ashish asked who, the commenter added, “Sameer, jiska role kiya (Sameer, whom you played). Ashish simply added a laugh emoji in response.” Another comment read, “Acted so good the real one got offended and tried to sue for defamation.”

When one Instagram user commented, “Sameer wankhede ki fielding set kar di (You roasted Sameer Wankhede),” Ashish responded, “God bless everyone, bro, I just did my job.”

About The Ba***ds of Bollywood

Ashish plays a cop on The Ba***ds of Bollywood. He arrives at a party thrown by a Bollywood producer and arrests an actor who was not in possession of any drugs. Sameer Wankhede has claimed the character is modelled on him and shows enforcement agencies in a bad light. In 2021, Wankhede famously arrested the show’s creator and director, Aryan Khan, on drug charges. Aryan was later cleared of all charges, and Wankhede was transferred out of the NCB.

The show stars Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, Bobby Deol, Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, Manoj Pahwa, and Mona Singh in the lead roles. It was the fourth-most-watched non-English show of Netflix globally in the week of its release.

‘But how will he prove it is him’: Twitter is confused as Sameer Wankhede sues Aryan Khan’s The Bads of Bollywood

by jummy84 September 25, 2025
written by jummy84

On Thursday, former Narcotics Control Bureau zonal officer Sameer Wankhede filed a defamation suit against the makers of Netflix series The Bads of Bollywood. He is asking for ₹2 crore in damages, citing a character on the show who seems to be parodying him.

A character in The Bads of Bollywood seems to be a parody of NCB officer Sameer Wankhede, something the latter has disapporved of.

However, as the character remains unnamed throughout the series, fans of the show are confused how Wankhede will prove it is about him.

Internet is confused

“No but how is he going to prove that’s his character help ??,” joked a fan on Twitter (X). “He might’ve wanted to do a cameo,” read a comment. “They didn’t mention his name or anything at all,” said a person.

A few are also happy that the episode will lead to a jucier season 2 for the show. “Aryan taking receipts to prepare that explosive season 2 script,” wrote one. “Aryan is good to troll him again in s2,” said another person. Aryan Khan is the writer and director behind the series. He was arrested by Wankhede in 2021 under charges of drugs use.

A person concluded, “Such poetic justice for #AryanKhan maza agaya.”

What is Wankhede’s case?

Sameer Wankhede on Thursday filed a defamation suit in the Delhi High Court against actor Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan owned Red Chillies Entertainment and Netflix for allegedly maligning his reputation in their series The Ba***ds of Bollywood

Wankhade’s plea has sought permanent and mandatory injunction, declaration and damages against the Red Chillies Entertainment Private Limited, Netflix and others, for what he alleges is “false, malicious and defamatory video” of the production house and broadcast by Netflix as part of their television series.

Wankhade sought ₹2 crore in damages which he wants to to be donated to the Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital for cancer patients.

“This series disseminates a misleading and negative portrayal of anti-drug enforcement agencies, thereby eroding public confidence in law enforcement institutions,” Advocate Aditya Giri, one of the lawyers representing Wankhade, claimed.

The plea said the series has been deliberately conceptualised and executed with the intent to malign Wankhede’s reputation in a colourable and prejudicial manner, especially when the case involving the officer and Shahrukh Khan’s son Aryan khan is pending and sub-judice before the Bombay High Court and the NDPS Special Court in Mumbai.

It claimed that the series depicts a character making an obscene gesture—specifically, showing a middle finger after the character recites the slogan “Satyamev Jayate” which is the part of the National Emblem.

The main point of contention seems to be the character of an ‘NCG officer’ who looks much like Wankhede and claims to be running a campaign against drugs.
