“I have a really good feeling about this, Millie!” “Me, too…” Uh oh. Lionsgate has revealed the first official trailer for a mystery thriller movie titled The Housemaid, the second feature arriving this year made by director filmmaker Paul Feig (following Another Simple Favor in the summer). Set for a release in theaters in December – as counter-programming opening opposite of Avatar: Fire and Ash. Based on the first book in the novel series of the same name by Freida McFadden. The Housemaid stars Sydney Sweeney as Millie Calloway, a young woman with a troubled past who takes on a job as a live-in housemaid for a wealthy family, however, their seemingly perfect life unravels when she discovers their household hides dark secrets beneath the surface. Also stars Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, Michele Morrone, & Elizabeth Perkins. Yet another sneaky new “wildly entertaining” mysterious movie from director Paul Feig – expect plenty of bonkers twists & turns. Yep it looks pretty crazy! Like those 90s thrillers they don’t make anymore.

Here’s the first official trailer (+ poster) for Paul Feig’s movie The Housemaid, direct from YouTube:

The Housemaid Film

The Housemaid Poster

The Housemaid plunges audiences into a twisted world where perfection is an illusion, and nothing is as it seems. Trying to escape her past, Millie (Sydney Sweeney) accepts a job as a live-in housemaid for the wealthy Nina (Amanda Seyfried) and Andrew Winchester (Brandon Sklenar). But what begins as a dream job quickly unravels into something far more dangerous – a sexy, seductive game of secrets, scandal, and power. Behind the Winchesters’ closed doors lies a world of shocking twists that will leave you guessing until the very end. The Housemaid directed by American filmmaker Paul Feig, director of the films I Am David, Unaccompanied Minors, Bridesmaids, The Heat, Spy, Ghostbusters,, Last Christmas, The School for Good and Evil, Jackpot!, plus A Simple Favor and Another Simple Favor previously. The screenplay is written by Rebecca Sonnenshine; adapted from the novel of the same name by Freida McFadden. Lionsgate opens Paul Feig’s The Housemaid in theaters nationwide starting on December 19th, 2025 later this year.

Amanda Seyfried, Emily Blunt, Emma Corrin, and More Stepped Out With Miu Miu for Venice Film Festival’s Most Stylish Dinner

There’s no shortage of blowout parties at the Venice Film Festival, during which the film world descends on the city to celebrate premieres from some of the world’s greatest directors. And, perhaps unsurprisingly, there’s no shortage of fashion parties, either. But there are few fashion houses that bridge the gap between those two worlds more naturally than Miu Miu: not only is it a particular favorite for multiple generations of young actresses, it has also, for nearly 15 years now, actively supported new films from women directors via its Miu Miu Women’s Tales program. (The latest chapter in the series, directed by the French filmmaker Alice Diop, premiered at the festival just yesterday.)

So it’s little surprise that Miu Miu’s party on Saturday night was one of the hottest tickets in town. Held at the Fondazione Prada, the event began with a stream of water taxis pulling up to the jetty, followed by guests making their way through the exhibition halls to take in the contemporary art foundation’s latest exhibition, Diagrams. The show, which debuted in May to coincide with the opening week of this year’s Architecture Biennale, seemed perfectly engineered to serve as a conversation starter for the evening ahead: featuring hundreds of rare documents, it explores how diagrams have been used across the centuries for humans to make sense of the world, spanning subjects from war to health, to the environment. (Just the small stuff, then.)

Chatter about the exhibition—and, of course, the various films premiering in Venice this week—could be heard from the third floor of the 18th-century palazzo, where waiters began to circulate with negronis and Champagne, as well as playful canapés of anchovies and butter on toast and miniature cucumber sandwiches served on antique silver platters. The stars arrived in their droves: Amanda Seyfried with Mona Fastvold, the director of her new film The Testament of Ann Lee, in a retro floral halter neck dress. Emma Corrin and Alexa Chung, both wearing the statement bullet bras from the brand’s fall 2025 collection, caught up over plates of freshly sliced mozzarella and ricotta-stuffed courgette flowers. Willem Dafoe and Mrs. Prada were deep in conversation at a table by the window, their companions admiring the 19th-century linen napkins embroidered with the initials of their original owner. The most unexpected sighting, however? Dwayne Johnson, who was in town to promote the new Benny Safdie film The Smashing Machine, and posed for photos alongside his co-star and good friend Emily Blunt. (Is the Rock a Miu Miu girl now?)

The tables were heaving with food everyone could help themselves from—loaded up on Meissen china that belongs to Mrs. Prada herself, which, like the silver platters and napkins, had been ferried over from her home in Milan—and the convivial atmosphere felt a little like being over at the Prada family pad for dinner. You know you’re throwing a good party, after all, when even the actors with premieres the next day are still hanging around at the stroke of midnight.

James Gunn Still ‘Working On’ Viola Davis-Led Amanda Waller Series

by jummy84 August 31, 2025
written by jummy84

With multiple projects in the pipeline for the newly constructed DCU, James Gunn is assuring fans that, among them, is a long-gestating series focused on Task Force X leader Amanda Waller, originated onscreen by Oscar winner Viola Davis in 2016’s Suicide Squad.

Speaking to People in a recent interview, the Superman helmer confirmed he and DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran are still “working on” the show.

He said, “We’re working on it, so we’ll see what happens. Some things have moved faster than others. Waller’s not been the fastest. But I can’t wait to see Viola put on their Waller pants again.”

Gunn is echoing sentiments both he and Safran expressed back in February, telling Deadline then that Waller — about the amoral U.S. government espionage director who dispatches the criminal misfit Suicide Squad team on missions — remains in the works, despite the project remaining difficult to break.

“We’ve taken a couple of cracks at Waller, and we haven’t been able to land it,” Safran said at the time.

“We’re still working on it,” Gunn added, also noting the duo had to prioritize another spinoff, Peacemaker. “Waller has been tough, the strike was tough on Waller, there was a certain amount time that we needed to do Peacemaker first.”

“We were going to go with Waller before Peacemaker [Season 2], but I wrote Peacemaker quickly and we were ready to go,” Gunn concluded.

Davis played Waller in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad and its sequel, 2021’s The Suicide Squad, from Gunn. News of the Waller spinoff was first announced back in 2022, revealed at the time to feature Watchmen writer Christal Henry as scribe and executive producer alongside Davis. While Peacemaker is a comedy, Waller would fall into the drama category; Davis reprised the character in Peacemaker Season 1.

A year later, it was announced Doom Patrol creator Jeremy Carver would join Henry to co-write Waller.

Aside from Waller, Max will release the forthcoming spinoff, Lanterns, aiming to debut in early 2026.

On September 30 a court in Italy will, for the third time, begin hearing evidence in the case against American student Amanda Knox and her Italian former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, both accused of the murder of British student Meredith Kercher in Perugia in November 2007. In March, Italy's supreme court ordered a re-trial for both - this time in Florence - following the first two trials in Perugia that were marked by controversy. An appeal court in 2011 acquitted both, overturning 2009 convictions by a lower court. In an exclusive interview Knox, now aged 26, explains describes her experiences and explains why she will not be returning to face another protracted series of hearings.

Anyone who has ever heard of Amanda Knox remembers the media firestorm she was thrown into after being wrongfully convicted of murdering her roommate Meredith Kercher in Perugia, Italy, in 2007. Facing similar allegations with Knox was her then-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, who was also accused, convicted, imprisoned and acquitted of murder with the Seattle, Washington, native. Since Knox has shared her story, many are wondering where Sollecito is today and the nature of his relationship with her now.

It turns out that Sollecito and Knox remained friends after their romance fizzled out during their trial. The engineer said they wrote notes to each other almost every week while in prison for four years, he told Katie Couric in 2012.

“I was stuck a little bit. I was nervous,” Sollecito said about his reunion with Knox after they were found not guilty in 2011. Before seeing Knox again, Sollecito was afraid she would be like a “ghost” in that her appearance would “bring up to me the image of the nightmare” of imprisonment. He ignored advice from family and friends to abandon Knox during the ordeal, and upon seeing her again outside of prison, Sollecito said, “When she hugged me, I realized she was not my ghost, my nightmare.”

At the time, Sollecito told Couric that he and Knox kept in touch via email and Skype. And when prompted if he regretted ever meeting Knox, he responded, “No. It was not her fault. It was the fault of the detectives.”

So, where is Sollecito now, and are he and Knox friends to this day? Here is everything we know so far about his life now.

How Did Amanda Knox Meet Raffaele Sollecito?

In October 2007, just weeks before Kercher’s death, Knox met Sollecito at a concert. He was 23 at the time, and Knox was 20.

How Long Were Amanda Knox & Raffaele Sollecito Together?

Knox and Sollecito had only dated for about nine days before their legal ordeal began in November 2007.

What Were Amanda Knox & Raffaele Sollecito Accused of?

Knox and Sollecito were accused of sexually assaulting and murdering Kercher. They were convicted in December 2009, with Sollecito being sentenced to 25 years in prison and Knox 26 years.

In October 2011, Knox and Sollecito were found not guilty, but they still faced an appeal by prosecutors that wanted life sentences for the former couple. In March 2015, Knox and Sollecito were acquitted of murder by the Supreme Court of Cassation, which ruled that they were innocent.

Where Is Raffaele Sollecito Now?

Sollecito is living away from the public eye now. He studied computer science and has worked as a computer engineer. In 2012, he published his book, Honor Bound, My Journey to Hell and Back With Amanda Knox.

According to Amazon’s synopsis of the book, Sollecito’s work is “filled with family drama, wild reversals of fortune, and a blow-by-blow account of the legal catastrophe as it unfolded.”

“With startling candor, Raffaele shares intimate details about his changing relationship with Amanda — one that veered in a matter of days from giddy romance to grueling police interrogations,” the description reads. “Over the next four years, Raffaele was the only solid alibi Amanda had for the night of the murder. He came under unrelenting pressure — from his own family and lawyers as much as the police and prosecution — to change his testimony and stop vouching for her. But he wouldn’t do it. He refused to testify against her to save his own skin, because he knew she would be lost forever.”

The memoir also includes Sollecito’s “unflinching honesty” about his experience as he faced “wild accusations depicting him as a druggie, a porn addict, and reckless thrill seeker.” The book also describes Sollecito’s “day-to-day hell of prison life” and his first reunion with Knox following their prison release.

Where Is Amanda Knox Now?

Knox is an author, journalist and activist. After returning home from Italy, she graduated from the University of Washington and published her first book, Waiting to Be Heard: A Memoir, in 2013. She started a podcast titled “The Truth About True Crime” and, most recently, published her 2025 book, Free.

Knox is also an executive producer on Hulu’s series The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox.

Who Is Amanda Knox’s Husband?

Knox’s husband is author Christopher Gerald Robinson. They secretly tied the know in 2018 and had a formal wedding in 2020. The spouses share two children together.

If you or anyone you know has been sexually abused, call the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-HOPE (4673). A trained staff member will provide confidential, judgment-free support as well as local resources to assist in healing, recovering and more.

Where is Amanda Knox now?

The author and activist married writer Christopher Robinson in 2018 and they’re parents of daughter Eureka, 4, and son Echo, 23 months.

And their eldest child is old enough to be curious about her mom’s past.

Her explanation goes something like this, Knox told TODAY.com: “It’s just, ‘When Mommy was young, Mommy went to Italy, and she made friends and she had fun, but then someone hurt her friend, and the police thought Mommy hurt her friend, and so they put Mommy in jail.'”

After which, she continued, “‘Mommy was in jail for a long time, and she was very sad. But then one day, Mommy proved that she was innocent and she got to go home, and then she met your daddy and had you and happily ever after.'”

Before you watch The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox, streaming on Hulu starting Aug. 20, catch up on some of the craziest true crime moments captured on TV:

Amanda Knox had to rebuild her life after being convicted and imprisoned for a crime that she was found not guilty of. Alongside her boyfriend at the time, Raffaele Sollecito, the former couple were accused of sexually assaulting and murdering Knox’s roommate Meredith Kercher. After Sollecito and Knox were acquitted, she became an author and got married. So, does Knox have any children?

Below, learn more about Knox’s life, her family and her career.

Is Amanda Knox Married?

Yes, Knox has been married to her husband, Christopher Robinson, since 2018. They secretly wed that year, then held a formal wedding ceremony with family and friends in 2020.

Does Amanda Knox Have Kids?

Yes, Knox shares two children with her husband: daughter Eureka and son Echo. Eureka, 4, has asked her mother about her life story in the past, to which Knox quipped during an August 2025 Today interview, “Of course, my daughter sort of takes after her mother and is super interested in storytelling.”

“I think that I’ve always been amazed, first of all, just by how much being a mom has helped me process this terrible experience,” Knox explained. “But also, even just telling this story to her, sometimes my daughter wants to play pretend the story of ‘Mommy goes to Italy.’ She’ll find like, bars at a playground, and be like, ‘Look, I’m Mommy in jail.’ And it’s just, like, the shift there — of, ‘Oh, this is a game.’ Like, it’s not just a horrible, traumatic experience. It can also be a game that me and my daughter can play with each other. It’s just that lightness of being of a child that really helps me carry the weight of it.”

Knox also described the “simple” way she tells her dramatic past to her daughter.

“It’s just, ‘When Mommy was young, Mommy went to Italy, and she made friends and she had fun, but then someone hurt her friend, and the police thought Mommy hurt her friend, and so they put Mommy in jail,’” Knox explained, before elaborating, “‘Mommy was in jail for a long time, and she was very sad. But then one day, Mommy proved that she was innocent and she got to go home, and then she met your daddy and had you and happily ever after.’”

What Does Amanda Do for Work Now?

Knox is an author, a journalist and an activist now. She’s published two books so far: Waiting to Be Heard: A Memoir and Free. She also hosted her own podcast called “The Truth About True Crime.”

As an activist, Knox returned to Italy to be the keynote speaker at a criminal justice conference by the Italy Innocence Project.

Knox has also dabbled in film over the years — first, by participating in Netflix’s documentary Amanda Knox, then serving as an executive producer for Hulu’s 2025 series The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox.

However, Knox says the Hulu show goes beyond the final verdict.

“This series is not just a courtroom drama that ends when Amanda Knox gets out of prison,” the 38-year-old explained to The Hollywood Reporter in an Aug. 18 video. “That’s typically how you see these stories told. This story is really anchored in the long consequences of the trauma that happened in the courtroom and how a person rebuilds their life and rebuilds their faith in humanity by taking risks. There’s a story of me, Amanda, taking a big risk to have faith and trust in people again and the benefits of that and the costs of that.”

Teaming up with Monica Lewinsky—another public figure quite familiar with being at the center of a media storm—Knox was eager to share that piece of her journey.

“That’s why it’s so important to show the afterwards,” she added. “Once you’ve been labeled and diminished and buried as a human being, how do you emerge as a person who is more complex and has more value than what society gave you credit for?”

The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox premieres on Hulu Aug. 20. However, it’s hardly the first true crime case to inspire a based-on-real-events story. Check out the other IRL dramas that became must-see TV.
