Adele Making Acting Debut In Tom Ford Film

by jummy84 November 13, 2025
written by jummy84

Adele will make her acting debut in Cry to Heaven, an adaptation of the 1982 Anne Rice novel directed and produced by fashion maven Tom Ford. Production is underway in London and Rome, with a fall 2026 release in the offing.

Set in 18th century Venice amid a backdrop of opera, Cry to Heaven will also star Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany and Mark Strong. It’d Ford’s third film, following the 2009 Oscar-nominated, Firth-starring A Single Man and 2016’s Nocturnal Animals.

Adele has kept a low profile since concluding a 10-show summer 2024 residency at Munich’s Sonderfreifläche Messe. The run sold more than 730,000 tickets, setting a new record for any concert residency outside of Las Vegas.

Afterwards, she told German broadcaster ZDF that she’d be taking a “big break” from performing. The U.K. superstar’s latest album, 2021’s 30, topped charts around the world and is certified for U.S. shipments of three million copies, according to the Recording Industry Association of America.

Adele to make acting debut in new Tom Ford movie with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Colin Firth, Nicholas Hoult and more

Adele is set to make an acting debut in a new film from fashion designer Tom Ford.

The project will mark the third film from Ford, following on from 2009’s adaptation of Christopher Isherwood’s novel A Single Man, and the 2016 crime thriller Nocturnal Animals, which starred Amy Adams.

According to reports from Deadline, the upcoming movie will be an adaptation of the 1982 Anne Rice novel, Cry to Heaven. It follows an unlikely duo – a castrated maestro and a Venetian noble – who work together in the hopes of leaving their mark on the opera world.

The outlet reports that Adele is set to make her acting debut in the film, and she will star alongside huge names like Colin Firth, Mark Strong, Thandiwe Newton, Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and 15-year-old Owen Cooper. The latter had his breakthrough earlier this year in Netflix’s drama series Adolescence, and went on to become the youngest male Emmy winner.

Adele is currently on hiatus from music after completing a huge residency in Las Vegas and playing a handful of sold-out shows in Munich last year. She has hinted at a shift to acting before, previously suggesting that she was going to take part in the 2018 film The Death and Life of John F Donovan.

Starring Game Of Thrones actor Kit Harington, the drama was written and directed by Xavier Dolan, who had worked with the singer before on the music video for her hit single, ‘Hello’.

“I’m sure I’ll get some flak for this, but I actually would like to act after working with Xavier… I would be in a film for him, definitely,” she said at the time (via The Guardian). She would later have her music feature in the soundtrack, but did not take on an acting role.

Tom Ford’s Cry To Heaven is reportedly in pre-production in London and Rome, with shooting set to begin in the new year. The movie is expected to arrive in cinemas later in 2026.

While the ‘Rolling In The Deep’ singer has not lined up any live performances since completing her residency shows, she did get fans talking back in February when she posted a video of her singing along to Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean’s performance at the Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary concert.

Before then, she left Rachel Chinouriri speechless after sending a bouquet of flowers in congratulations of her BRIT Award nominations, and also “scared off” potential buyers of her former £6million mansion by claiming it was “haunted”.

More recently, Adele had one of her musical records broken by Taylor Swift, following the release of the latter’s ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’.

For the past decade, the London singer has held the record for largest opening week for an album, with her ‘25’ album debuting with 3.378million copies sold. In October, it was reported that ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ sold 3.5million album units in the US alone during its opening week.

Adele is slated to make her acting debut in the upcoming Tom Ford adaptation of Anne Rice’s 1982 novel Cry to Heaven. According to Deadline, Adele, 37, will join the star-studded cast of the movie that will also be written and produced by Ford through his Fade to Black production shingle.

Among those reportedly lined up to feature in the film set in 18th century Italy are: Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Ciarán Hinds, George MacKay, Mark Strong, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany, Owen Cooper, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Hunter Schafer, Josephine Thiesen, Thandiwe Newton, Theodore Pellerin, Daryl McCormack, Cassian Bilton, Hauk Hannemann and Lux Pascal.

The film is reportedly in pre-production in London and Rome now, with principal photography set to begin in mid-January for a planned late fall 2026 release. At press time a spokesperson for Adele had not returned Billboard‘s request for confirmation on her debut film role.

The singer known for going off the radar between albums, has been quiet since completing her massive Weekends with Adele residency series in Munich, Germany in August 2024. Her most recent album was her fourth LP, 2021’s 30, which featured the songs “Easy On Me,” “Oh My God,” “Can I Get It” and “I Drink Wine.”

The Rice novel tells the tale of a Venetian nobleman and a castrati singer from Calabria who are both trying to make their names in the opera world. Director and fashion designer Ford has directed two other films to date, beginning with his debut, 2009’s period romance A Single Man about a gay British professor (Colin Firth) living in Los Angeles in the early 1960s.

He followed that with the acclaimed 2016 neo-noir thriller Nocturnal Animals starring Amy Adams, Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Shannon, Taylor-Johnson, Isla Fisher, Armie Hammer, Laura Linney and others in a story about an art gallery owner (Adams) who receives a manuscript for a novel written by her estranged ex-husband (Gyllenhaal) which appears to mirror their failed relationship. The latter won the 2016 Grand Jury prize at the Venice Film Festival and landed an Oscar nomination for Shannon for best supporting actor.

Doomsday’ reported to be Patrick Stewart’s final acting role

by jummy84 November 5, 2025
written by jummy84

Avengers: Doomsday will reportedly be the final acting role in the career of Patrick Stewart.

The film is set to be released in cinemas on December 18, 2026 and it will feature the return of Robert Downey Jr. to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), this time in the role of the supervillain Doctor Doom.

The Avengers, the Wakandans, the Fantastic Four, the New Avengers and the original X-Men will all team up to take on Doctor Doom in the film, and among them will be Stewart as Charles Xavier, aka Professor X, and Ian McKellen’s Magneto.

Now, it has been reported that Stewart, who is 85, will give up acting once the film is completed. As discussed on The Kristian Harloff Show on November 3, Stewart will supposedly be “done with acting” and will be “stepping down” after Doomsday.

Stewart is one of the most respected actors of his generation, having studied at the Royal Shakespeare Company and earning a reputation as a stage actor, winning two Olivier Awards. He achieved new levels of fame playing Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation from 1987 to 1994, reprising the role in the 2020 spinoff series.

He played Professor X in Fox’s original trio of X-Men films from 2000 to 2006 and after Disney’s acquisition of Fox, he has become a part of the MCU, appearing in 2022’s Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness.

Doomsday will be the 39th film in the MCU and the fifth Avengers movie and will see the return of directors Anthony and Joe Russo, who also helmed Infinity War and Endgame among other MCU titles.

Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie and Paul Rudd will return as Thor, Captain America and Ant-Man respectively, as will Letitia Wright as Shuri, aka Black Panther, and Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn will bring their Fantastic Four characters into the Avengers world.

Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Lewis Pullman and David Harbour will also be a part of the film as the New Avengers, as established in Thunderbolts* earlier this year, while Ryan Reynolds is also reported to be making an appearance as Deadpool.

Earlier this year, Avengers: Doomsday was moved from May 2026 to December, giving the production extra time to finish up but leaving fans impatient. One of the film’s cast, Alan Cumming, confirmed the return of his X-Men character Nightcrawler in the film.

Quentin Tarantino Returns to Acting in 'Only What We Carry'

Quentin Tarantino Returns to Acting in ‘Only What We Carry’

by jummy84 October 27, 2025
written by jummy84

It might be a while before the world sees Quentin Tarantino’s tenth and final movie as a writer-director (if it ever happens at all, or if he’s really true to his word about retiring), but cinephiles will soon get at least one other chance to see his work.

Tarantino is returning to the big screen, but this time as an actor. Tarantino has joined the cast of director Jamie Adams‘ new film “Only What We Carry,” which recently wrapped production after a six-day shoot in Normandy, an individual with knowledge of the project told IndieWire.

Tarantino stars among the ensemble cast that also includes Simon Pegg, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Liam Hellmann, and newcomer Lizzy McAlpine. The feature film was shot with a largely improvised script, in the tradition of arthouse filmmakers like Mike Leigh and Eric Rohmer.

Paul McCartney 'Man on the Run'

A prolific indie filmmaker, Adams has directed 12 features over the past decade, including festival hits like “Black Mountain Poets” and “Wild Honey Pie!”

While Tarantino is best known as a director, he has a long tradition of appearing on screen. He played supporting roles in his first two films, “Reservoir Dogs” and “Pulp Fiction,” before starring alongside George Clooney and Harvey Keitel in “From Dusk Till Dawn,” which he also co-wrote. He has continued to make small cameos in his own films ever since, serving as the voice of an offscreen director in both “Kill Bill” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and giving himself violent onscreen deaths in “Inglorious Basterds” and “Django Unchained.”

He occasionally pops up in other projects as well: he portrayed the character of McKenas Cole in four episodes of “Alias,” played Kermit’s director in “The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz,” and lended his voice to the Showtime series “Super Pumped.” But “Only What We Carry” will be his most significant role in someone else’s movie since the 1990s. While his future as a filmmaker continues to be uncertain, his willingness to take on the role suggests he could follow in the footsteps of Martin Scorsese and do more acting.

An official synopsis for “Only What We Carry” reads: “Julian Johns, a once-formidable instructor whose former student Charlotte Levant (Boutella) returns home to face the ghosts of her past. Joining them are Quentin Tarantino as John Percy, Julian’s old friend whose sudden arrival stirs long-buried truths; Charlotte Gainsbourg as Josephine Chabrol, Charlotte’s protective sister; Liam Hellmann as Vincent, a restless artist caught between love and loyalty, and Lizzy McAlpine, making her film debut as Jacqueline, a young aspiring dancer whose presence forces everyone to confront the weight of what they’ve left behind.”

The film is one of several new projects that Tarantino has taken on since scrapping his planned final film “The Movie Critic.” He wrote the upcoming David Fincher Netflix film “The Adventures of Cliff Booth,” which sees Brad Pitt reprising his Oscar-winning role from “Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood.” And during a recent appearance on the “Church of Tarantino” podcast, he teased plans to mount a West End stage production in 2026.

Adams is represented by Gersh.

Acting, Kanye West Coparenting & Dating

And while she was hoping to make it work before ultimately deciding to file for divorce in February 2021, “It makes it really hard to continue on in a relationship that can be toxic,” she told host Alex Cooper. “When you have kids, it’s definitely harder to leave than it is to stay. And it changes everyone’s life forever.”

So even when her family and friends noticed not all was well, Kim noted, “I think I got really dissociated and there were so many times where I was just, like, really quiet and trying to figure it all out.”

Which she eventually did and, though that meant splitting up, Kim has concluded that “an over-a-decade relationship with four beautiful children is not a failure.”

However, Kim said it’s “not easy” coparenting with Kanye, who has accused her in the past of keeping him away from their kids.

Saurabh Shukla Says Ranbir Kapoor Brought Back His Passion for Acting

by jummy84 October 15, 2025
written by jummy84

Saurabh Shukla is indeed a remarkable artist who has consistently made an impact across various genres in cinema over the years. Apart from his talent as an actor, he has also established himself as a respected screenwriter and director. Interestingly, Saurabh recently mentioned that he once experienced a period where he lost interest in acting, mainly because of the unfulfilling roles he was being offered. He revealed that Ranbir Kapoor played an important role in helping him regain his enthusiasm. The two collaborated on director Anurag Basu’s film, Barfi! (2012).

During a conversation with ANI, he shared, “I met Ranbir in Barfi. I was going through a low phase when Anurag Basu offered me the film. By then, I had become so frustrated. People used to say, ‘Saurabh, you’re such a good actor,’ but when roles came, they were always cameos. I mean, you’d have a day of shooting… and in that one day, what could you do? How much of a role would you have, and how much of your acting could you show?”

Mentioning that he wasn’t earning much due to the same, he shared, “I was really struggling. So, I started telling people that ‘I don’t act; I’m not an actor. I’m a writer, and I’ve made films.’ When Anurag offered me this film, my first words were, ‘Anurag, call me only if you have something for me that’s worth doing. Otherwise, don’t call me at all.’ I’m so lucky that he didn’t take it the wrong way. He said, ‘Sir, if I didn’t have something for you, why would I call you?’ He gave me that film, which was wonderful.”

Ranbir Kapoor Saurabh Shukla

Saurabh Shukla mentioned that he met Ranbir Kapoor during a period when acting in films felt somewhat routine for him, and he said that Ranbir Kapoor played a crucial role in reigniting his enthusiasm for the craft. He said, “He was so charming, young, full of talks and dreams and everything. I really enjoyed just sitting with him… He was not just educated. So, you can discuss anything with him. Also, there’s a sense of innocence in the youth. As we grow older, we gain a bit of head weight. But he was very young. I really enjoyed sitting with him and talking. There was mutual respect. While acting, he would do something, and I would get something from that. So, my interest came back in acting, and I restarted thinking about it like, ‘yes, acting is a great joy,’ and since then I have been acting.” Saurabh concluded by saying that Ranbir does not seem to be burdened by the expectations that might come with being a member of one of Bollywood’s most prominent families.

Alessandro Nivola didn’t want his son Sam Nivola to take up acting

by jummy84 October 12, 2025

11 October 2025

Alessandro Nivola “tried to talk” his son Sam Nivola out of pursuing an acting career.

Alessandro Nivola was unconvinced about son Sam Nivola following his parents into acting

The Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale star has admitted that he wasn’t best pleased when Sam, 22, told him that he was dropping out of Columbia University to try his luck in the acting profession.

Alessandro, who has Sam with his wife Emily Mortimer, told People: “I didn’t want him to leave. I tried to talk him out of it and he would have none of it.

“And I think it was really the moment that I just threw up my hands and said, ‘Sam, you know, I just want you to be happy’, that we really started to get along.”

Alessandro has recalled how Sam – who starred in the third season of The White Lotus – dropping out of college was the moment he “really announced” to his parents that he was serious about acting.

The 53-year-old star said: “Since then, it’s just been great, and I’ve watched him go from strength to strength.

“And you know if there’s one thing that I think he’s really benefitted from growing up with two actors… it’s just having spent so much time on sets and watching us do stuff like this.

“So, when it sort of started to come to him, it wasn’t a novel experience. He’d at least had a glimpse of it as a very young guy.”

Alessandro previously suggested that he and his pal Ethan Hawke were planning to make movie that would star both of their sons as younger versions of themselves.

The Brutalist star said: “Ethan Hawke and I have been cooking up this movie called Satan Is Real about a pair of brothers called the Louvin Brothers.

“And then we were thinking that now that Sam and (Ethan’s son), Levon Hawke, are becoming stars, that the best way for us to green light the movie will be to write in a section that has us as younger versions.”

Meanwhile, Sam previously revealed that he was glad not to have relied on parents to get acting jobs.

Asked about being a “nepo baby”, he told Variety: “Other than my genes, I don’t think I can attribute much of my success to my parents. I feel proud that I’ve done it for myself, and sometimes in spite of them.

“[With my first role] I didn’t get my dad’s agent to call up so-and-so. I did it by myself. I didn’t want to give anyone an excuse to be able to say that anything I’ve achieved has been because of anyone other than me. And I’m proud of that.”

Michael J Fox cherishes acting comeback

by jummy84 October 10, 2025
written by jummy84

10 October 2025

Michael J Fox still has “a lot left to do” in his life.

Michael J Fox ended his acting retirement to join the show

The 64-year-old star recently ended his acting retirement to appear in Shrinking, the hit comedy-drama series, and Michael admits that the experience has reignited his love of acting.

The Hollywood star – who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991 – told Variety: “I see other people’s work, and it makes me think that I might be able to find something that’s for me as an actor and as a writer. And as a parent, husband and friend, I have a lot left to do.”

Despite this, Michael acknowledged that he’s still encountering “new challenges” with Parkinson’s.

He shared: “I wake up and get the message of what the day is gonna be like, and I try to adjust to it. I keep getting new challenges physically, and I get through it. I roll around in a wheelchair a lot, and it took some getting used to. You take the good, and you seize it.”

Michael actually has no regrets about ending his acting retirement to star in Shrinking.

He said: “It was the first time ever I get to show up on-set, and I didn’t have to worry about am I too tired or coughing or anything. I just do it.

“It was really good, because for the moments when I say, ‘I’m not going to be able to do this,’ then I say, ‘Well, I’ll just deal with how I can’t do it in the scene.’ And you get through it.”

Michael moved from Canada to the US at the age of 18 – but he initially struggled to find work in Hollywood.

The actor – who ultimately shot to stardom as Marty McFly in the Back to the Future film franchise – previously told Entertainment Tonight: “I was dumpster diving because I knew the grocery store would throw baked goods out. We’d steal jam and peanut butter from the IHOP or Denny’s. It was a tough existence.

“But in a relatively short period of time I was famous and I was the biggest movie star in the world … It was crazy. It made no sense.”
