‘High Potential’ Exclusive Sneak Peek Gives Morgan and Ava Update After Fight About Roman

by jummy84 October 21, 2025
written by jummy84

Can Elliot (Matthew Lamb) get his mom Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) and sister Ava (Amirah J) talking after their fight about Roman on High Potential? Well, he’s starting to plant the seeds for just that in TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek of the Tuesday, October 21, episode.

In the clip, Elliot wakes Morgan up to show off his Halloween costume. “A sassy friar?” she guesses. “A science friar?” After he explains who he is, he notices the backpack on the bed and asks about it. “Let’s just say it’s the reason your sister and I aren’t exactly talking right now,” Morgan says. “What’s she doing? Is she still up, too?”

Elliot tells her, “She’s barely come out of her room since you grounded her. I think you should talk to her.” Though Morgan, at first, declines to take that advice, she does eventually cave, but she also has to be happy when work calls so she can continue to put that off. Watch the full video above for more from Morgan and Elliot — and a “special guest” offering an opinion.

In this episode, aptly titled “Chasing Ghosts,” as Halloween approaches, the team investigates a spooky case where a wealthy lawyer is found dead in his haunted Victorian mansion. Captain Wagner (Steve Howey) surprises everyone with his skills. Plus, Elliot plays mediator between Morgan and Ava.

The backpack in question in our clip above belonged to Ava’s father, Roman, whom Morgan has been trying to track down. Ava had convinced Roman’s friend, Arthur (Mekhi Phifer), to give them the bag so Morgan can look through it and see if it can help. Morgan wasn’t happy about Ava following her to her meeting with Arthur, but her daughter argued that Morgan’s the same way. Morgan then told her she’d decide how much she’d involve Ava in the stuff with her dad until she could trust her again. It was after Ava walked off that Morgan found Roman’s bag on her front step.

What’s your theory about Roman? Let us know in the comments section below.

2025 PROOF Film Festival Returns to American Cinematheque

by jummy84 October 21, 2025
written by jummy84

In 2023, the American Cinematheque in Los Angeles launched the first edition of PROOF, a short film festival dedicated to showcasing movies by emerging filmmakers hoping to use their shorts as proof-of-concepts for more ambitious features. This November, PROOF returns to the Cinematheque in an expanded form that includes special screenings, panels, development funds for award-winning shorts, and a “Pitch Deck Show & Tell.”

For the third edition of PROOF, screenings of the proof-of-concept shorts will run alongside centerpiece programming that includes “Film Financing Today,” a panel that will discuss how projects are getting made in today’s shifting entertainment landscape, and “Next Steps: From a Short to a Feature,” a returning PROOF signature panel spotlighting filmmakers who have successfully expanded short-form work into features or television.

Building on that idea of exploring how filmmakers have leveraged shorts into feature film work, the festival will also host the Los Angeles premiere of “Atropia.” The winner of the Dramatic Feature Grand Jury Prize at this year’s Sundance, “Atropia” was originally a short film before it evolved into a full-length feature, and both the short and the feature will screen at PROOF. Writer/director Hailey Gates and star Alia Shawkat will appear for an in-person Q&A between the short film and the feature film.

This year, PROOF will also present “Pitch Deck Show & Tell” selections, an event that will give filmmakers the opportunity to present their pitch decks and project ideas to a live audience of peers, industry professionals, and potential collaborators. Presenting both feature and series concepts, participants will have five minutes to pitch after which they’ll receive real-time feedback from filmmakers, producers, and executives to help refine their projects and take them to the next stage.

As in previous years, however, the festival’s primary mission is to empower the next generation of cinematic storytellers by providing a forum for their proof-of-concept shorts. These shorts will be eligible for awards given by a jury featuring Miranda Sarah Einy (producer, “Happy Place”), Rachel Goldfinger (creative executive, Playgrounds), Sarah Marie Flores (creative executive, Anarchists United), Remy Solomon (writer and content creator), Brett Robinson (development executive), Liz Sargent (writer/director), Riley Chapman (coordinator, New Line Cinema), Sara Koch (casting director), Kesila Childers (producer and development executive), Aisling Scott Lynch (creative executive, Fourth Wall), Reiko Napier Moreno (independent producer/manager), and Yuky Shen (executive assistant, Kindred Spirit).

Five juried awards will be presented at the festival’s end, along with one audience choice award. The newest juried award is the “Shot on Film” Award sponsored by Kodak. The award will be granted to a filmmaker that shot their project either partially or completely on film, and they will receive an in-kind grant of $5,000 of Kodak Motion Picture Film Stock and/or Processing.

In addition, the newly created PROOF Development Fund will provide unrestricted grants to the winners of the festival, intended to directly support key next steps in their creative journeys — whether that’s bringing on a line producer, hiring a casting director, securing legal counsel, attending markets and festivals, or funding other early development needs. The 2025 Grand Jury Prize winner will receive $2,500, with additional grant money available for other festival awardees.

The festival will run November 7 – 9 at The Culver Theater in Culver City. Individual tickets to screenings, blocks, and panels are now on sale at the American Cinematheque‘s website.

Elizabeth Olsen Will Only Star in Studio Movies With Theatrical Releases

by jummy84 October 21, 2025
written by jummy84

Elizabeth Olsen told InStyle magazine as part of a new cover story that she is no longer signing on to Hollywood studio movies that don’t have a guaranteed theatrical release. As an indie film darling since the start of her career with 2011’s “Martha Marcy May Marlene,” Olsen is comfortable acting in a movie without distribution that gets sold to a streamer. But her preference is always a theatrical release.

“If a movie is made independently and only sells to a streamer, then fine. But I don’t want to make something where [streaming is] the end-all,” Olsen said. “I think it’s important for people to gather as a community, to see other humans, be together in a space. That’s why I like sports. I think it’s really powerful for people to come together for something that they’re excited about. We don’t even audition in person anymore.”

Since her last outing as the Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe courtesy of 2022’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” Olsen has made only indie movies such as 2023’s “His Three Daughters,” 2024’s “The Assessment” and the upcoming A24 romantic comedy “Eternity.” Only “His Three Daughters” was backed by a streamer (in this case Netflix), although it was given an awards-qualifying theatrical release in select theaters.

Olsen knows a thing or two about bringing millions of people together in movie theaters thanks to the MCU, where she’s played Scarlet Witch since debuting in the post-credits scene of 2014’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”

“Making the films are fun. Goofy. It’s ridiculous. We’re grown people like children on a playground,” Olsen told InStyle about the MCU. “We’re flying. We’re shooting things out of our hands. And it’s a character that I’ve gotten to return to so many times after over 10 years. It’s good to put her down and then I miss  her and I want her back. I’d jump at the opportunity to be in her shoes again.”

Olsen added about the pros of the MCU, “It’s the consistency of a community and a job, which is hard to find. The insane camera movement, stunt work and special effects, visual effects that are happening in real time. It’s a lot of coordination, it’s hundreds and hundreds of people on set, and it’s a powerful thing to be a part of all those people working towards one goal. The people doing the visual effects are artists… The soul, the spirit, the heart is fulfilled doing it. It does mean something. I care about the acting being great — everyone does.”

The “Doctor Strange” sequel remains Olsen’s last in-person Marvel appearance as Scarlet Witch. She was recently featured as a voice role on the Disney+ animated series “Marvel Zombies.” Her next film is “Eternity,” co-starring Miles Teller and Callum Turner. The A24 film puts a fantasy spin on the rom-com genre by being set in an afterlife where the recently deceased have one week to decide who to spend eternity with. Olsen’s Joan must decide between her first love or the man she built her life with.

“Eternity” opens in theaters this Thanksgiving.

‘Shrinking’ Season 3 Release Date & First-Look Photos Revealed

by jummy84 October 21, 2025
written by jummy84

Shrinking Season 3 will premiere Wednesady, January 28, with its one-hour first episode on Apple TV, the streamer revealed today.

The following episodes will premiere weekly on Wednesdays through April 8, 2026. The third season of the beloved comedy series will contain 11 episodes and watch stars Jason Segel, Harrison Ford, Christa Miller. Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell and Ted McGinley return to reprise their respective roles.

In addition to the ensemble cast, returning guest stars include Goldstein — who made his debut in Season 2 as Louis Winston, Damon Wayans Jr., Wendie Malick and Cobie Smulders, along with new additions Jeff Daniels and Michael J. Fox. Deadline broke the news of Daniels’ casting as Jimmy’s father as well as the news of Fox’s casting, which connects to Ford’s character Paul Rhoades’ Parkinson’s disease.

Created by Goldstein, Segel and Bill Lawrence, Shrinking centers on the life of Jimmy Liard (played by Segel), a grieving therapist who decides to give his clients his honest opinion instead of listening to their feelings and remaining removed from their lives. This strategy, which gets coined “Jimmying” in Season 2, makes significant changes in the lives of his patients, especially that of Sean (Tennie) and Heidi Gardner’s Grace.

After the first season established the extent of Jimmy’s grief as well as the connections he has between coworkers, his daughter Alice (Maxwell), his best friend Brian (Urie) and more, Season 2 focused on forgiveness. Goldstein’s Louis entered the picture as the drunk driver who caused Jimmy’s wife’s death in a car accident, but many other characters had their own forgiveness arcs too. Creator Bill Lawrence told Deadline in a Season 2 post-mortem interview that “moving forward” is the theme for Season 3.

Shrinking is produced for Apple TV by Warner Bros. Television, where Lawrence and Goldstein are under overall deals and Lawrence’s Doozer Productions. Lawrence, Segel, Goldstein, Neil Goldman, James Ponsoldt, Jeff Ingold, Liza Katzer, Randall Winston, Rachna Fruchbom, Brian Gallivan, Ashley Nicole Black and Bill Posley executive produce.

Joseph Quinn as Eddie Munson in 'Stranger Things.'

Joseph Quinn Won’t Appear in Stranger Things Season 5

by jummy84 October 21, 2025
written by jummy84

Don’t expect Eddie Munson to be rising from the dead in Stranger Things season five.

During a recent interview with Empire, the Duffer brothers confirmed that, despite rumors, Joseph Quinn won’t be returning for the hit Netflix show’s final season.

In season four, his character Eddie, a metalhead and high school outsider, (spoiler alert!) is killed by creatures in the Upside Down after he sacrifices himself to distract the Demobats, allowing the rest of the group to fight Vecna.

“I love that Joe Quinn is toying with people! But no, he’s dead,” Matt Duffer said. “Joe is so busy anyway, that everyone should know he’s not coming back. He’s shot like five movies since! When the hell has he got time to come and shoot Stranger Things? No, sadly, RIP. He’s fully under that ground.”

It’s true, Quinn has been quite busy since Stranger Things season four came out in 2022. He’s since starred in Hoard, A Quiet Place: Day One, Gladiator II, Warfare and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

But fans don’t need to worry because plenty of other fan-favorites are returning, including Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Priah Ferguson, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Maya Hawke, Joe Keery, David Harbour, Winona Ryder and Brett Gelman.

Elsewhere in their interview with Empire, Matt Duffer also teased Linda Hamilton’s new role in season five, which sees her play Dr. Kay, a government agent who’s hunting down Brown’s Eleven.

“She’s hyper-intelligent and intimidating,” he shared. “She’s a scientist but if she needs to, she can get into a fight and shoot a gun.”

The new season of Stranger Things is set to be released in three parts: Volume 1 on Nov. 26 (consisting of four episodes), Volume 2 on Christmas (three episodes) and The Finale on New Year’s Eve.

Robert Carlyle as Sherlock Holmes —

Robert Carlyle Talks Sherlock’s Reunion With Watson and Pittsburgh Mystery

by jummy84 October 21, 2025
written by jummy84

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Watson Season 2 Episode 2 “Back from the Dead.”]

“My dear Watson…” Sherlock Holmes (Robert Carlyle) is back in Dr. John Watson’s (Morris Chestnut) life, and he certainly owes his best friend an explanation. After all, the doctor thought he was dead all this time!

It takes a while, but Sherlock does finally share how he survived his fall at Reichenbach Falls with Moriarty (Randall Park): He didn’t go over until after Watson went in to save him. Rather, he’d set up his enemies, Moriarty and Stapleton, and they both went in. (Should we believe him?) And it’s not just his friend who has brought him to Pittsburgh. As he shares with Watson in the final scene of the episode, a mystery there has caught his attention, and it’s all part of a bigger project. There’s only one crime that matters: who stole the world. “The whole Jenga tower could use a bit of a rattle,” Sherlock says, and he’s planning “a third act surprise.” With that, he leaves — for now.

Below, Robert Carlyle breaks down this episode, teases what’s going on with Sherlock, talks working with Morris Chestnut, and more.

There is of course, the question of whether Sherlock is truly alive or a hallucination of Watson’s. What can you say about that and why we should be considering both, or should we?

Robert Carlyle: Well, as far as I’m concerned, he’s very much alive. The whole idea of that is kind of like a Sherlock Watson type of thing; it’s a mystery in itself for the viewers to try and figure that out.

Sergei Bachlakov/CBS

Talk about working with Morris on that dynamic between Sherlock and Watson, especially in this episode where it’s really such a two-hander between the two of you, with almost all of their scenes in Watson’s apartment.

Yeah, absolutely. It’s an absolute pleasure working with Morris. What an absolutely lovely guy he is. And he made me feel so welcome coming into the show. And I think that we, hopefully, create a nice, interesting dynamic. There’s a nice chemistry between the two of us. It’s always hard to pick that up right away because of course, these guys have known each other for many, many, many years, so you’re sort of throwing this at the audience. For them, it’s the first time seeing those two together. But we have to try and show, no, these guys are friends who’ve known each other for a long, long time. The writing certainly helped that. And I think that the audience very quickly will understand that there’s a deep and very loving relationship between these two guys.

And you can really feel that in that apartment scenes. There’s a little bit of that dance that we know and love, but also, you can definitely feel that deep emotion of seeing someone who’s meant a lot to you again for the first time in a while.

Yeah, I think so. He’s suddenly back and Watson wants to know why he’s done this, why he’s vanished for the past year. Sherlock kind of leads him on, as you say, a dance through this whole thing before he eventually tells him the truth of what had happened that day at Reichenbach Falls. They’ve missed each other. They’ve really, really missed each other. And I think that you see that once they start talking about Watson’s case, that they work with each other really, really well, very, very quickly. That’s what I was trying to do anyway, was to show how much they enjoyed that and how much they missed that.

There is precedent in the canon of Sherlock Holmes for him faking his death. Sherlock does eventually tell Watson how he survived the Falls, claiming that he only went in after Watson did to save him. But he’s also been deceiving Watson all this time into thinking he was dead. Why should Watson believe him now about all of this? How truthful is he being his best friend?

That’s a really good question. Why should he believe him? I don’t know whether he does. I think by the end of that second episode, I don’t think that’s resolved in any way. I still think that that Watson is very, very wary of what is happening, of what this guy actually is. [Laughs] You’re not quite sure what’s going on there. So I don’t know whether he should believe him, I think, to answer your question, and I think the audience also would be quite right to think, “I’m not too sure. Is this a fake? What’s going on?”

Morris Chestnut as Dr. John Watson — 'Watson' Season 2 Episode 2 "Back from the Dead"

Sergei Bachlakov/CBS

Sherlock is in Pittsburgh because he has plans. How much is it also that Sherlock missed his friend, as he says he did dearly? Would he have revealed himself to Watson even without something else drawing him to Pittsburgh?

Yeah, I mean, this is all just mulling in my mind, my own kind of thoughts, but I think so, yes. I think definitely he would’ve eventually got in touch and told him that he was back. There are things that he’s there for. I don’t know whether it comes up, I think it does towards the end of the episode when he talks about the Pittsburgh mystery, there’s this mural — back in the time of the Great Depression in America in the late ’20s, ’30s, there was a series of public murals that were commissioned by the government in an attempt, an effort to keep people working. So, Sherlock believes there’s one of these murals by this artist called Charles Austin, who was famous back in the day for doing these things. And he thinks there’s one of these present in Pittsburgh that’s been lost that’s been painted over.

He does say that there is a mystery in Pittsburgh that’s caught his attention, and it’s all part of a bigger project, that the only crime that matters is who stole the world. The whole Jenga tower, he says, could use a little bit of rattle. And he’s planning a third act surprise. What can you tease about what he’s up to?

Something I can genuinely tell you: I have no idea. I really don’t know what’s going on there. I think it is the way that these TV shows are put together, that there’s a general overall kind of idea. But I think that the writers in the writers’ room start to write this stuff as they go, seeing what the actors bring to it and what they can actually stretch out of this. So, I have absolutely nothing on paper to tell me what the third act surprise is, but we can be sure that there is one for sure.

Sherlock tells Watson goodbye for now. How often are we going to be seeing him around?

I can tell you that he appears in [Episode] 5. And then I think it’s 8, certainly 10, which is the mid-season finale, which is the one that we’re shooting at shooting at the moment. This is where things begin to really ramp up, and there’s a problem with Sherlock. I can tell you that there’s a problem with Sherlock, and Watson wants to try and help his friend through this.

In last season’s finale, Watson, in dealing with Moriarty, ultimately caused their nemesis’ death. How much does Sherlock know what Watson did, and how would he feel about it if he had all the facts?

That is a good question. I don’t actually know how much he knows. I think Sherlock believes that Moriarty is gone. But you never know.

In the world of Sherlock Holmes, as we’ve seen in every iteration, you never know.

You don’t know. He could be back. Is it possible for Sherlock to have a life without Moriarty? I mean, he talks about that. I can’t remember [which] episode, but he talks about, the life that he’s led has been difficult, and with a nemesis lurking in every alleyway and stuff like this. And Episode 10, it is really, really beautifully written that he talks to Watson and tells him how it’s not been easy. What he says is, “Look, I’m Sherlock Holmes. I can solve any crime. I’m not afraid of anything. It’s not been easy.” This thing has taken its toll on him. Maybe this whole life of catching criminals and solving crimes and stuff has taken a toll and maybe ultimately all of this, what has all this been for? And it happens. I mean, I understand that in my age as well because I’m in my 60s now; when you start to get older, you think, what are you leaving behind? And with Sherlock, it’s like, “Well, what is it I’ve actually achieved?” There’s a beautiful, beautiful bit in Episode 10. And he says, “One thing’s for sure. At the exact literal moment of my death, someone somewhere will murder somebody else. So what’s it really all for?” That’s where his mind is. He’s not what he was. He’s older and he’s thinking about his legacy and whether that’s worth anything. Maybe this Pittsburgh mural is actually worth more than all these crimes that he solved in the past.

And mortality is obviously a looming presence, a constant weight on your shoulders, really, no matter how old you are.

Exactly, exactly. That’s what Craig [Sweeny] and the writers are trying to do with Sherlock.

What does Sherlock think of Watson’s life as it is now?

I think he’s saddened that he’s not with Mary Morstan [Rochelle Aytes]. I think he’s saddened by that because he thought those two would’ve been together by now. The fact that there’s someone else, I don’t think he’s very happy about that.

Yes. He seems skeptical of Laila (Tika Sumpter). Why is that? Is he just a big Watson and Mary stan at this point?

[Laughs] That’s exactly what he is.

How intrigued do you think Sherlock is by someone like Ingrid (Eve Harlow)?

Well, who knows. I mean, at this point he’s only going by what he hears and what Watson’s telling him. I think it’s very funny when he calls her your nemesis. I love that. So, I don’t think he trusts her at all.

At the Academy Gala, Old Hollywood Meets the Creator Economy

by jummy84 October 21, 2025
written by jummy84

Saturday night was the fifth annual Academy Gala, the glamorous fundraising event that also serves as a de facto soft launch of Oscar season. At the Academy Museum cocktail party preceding it, the awards circuit still had its new-car smell; everyone seemed a little more excited to slip into their tuxedos and gravity-defying gowns (or, in the case of Kim Kardashian, a head-encompassing beige silk scarf).

This year’s event also carried an element of nostalgia. Whether it’s film festivals, conferences, or awards shows, all circuits are Groundhog Days where participants may get annoyed by repetition but are ultimately won over by community and familiarity. Same as it ever was — only now, when LA production continues to drop and jobs are scarce everywhere, it’s not.

TELLURIDE, COLORADO - AUGUST 31: Ethan Hawke attends the 2025 Telluride Film Festival on August 31, 2025 in Telluride, Colorado. (Photo by Vivien Killilea/Getty Images)

The Academy knows it, too. It selected Amelia Dimoldenberg, creator of YouTube’s “Chicken Shop Date,” as the night’s emcee for the Academy’s social interviews, where she spoke with the likes of Quinta Brunson, Charli XCX, Rachel Zegler, Jeff Goldblum, Jesse Eisenberg, and Anna Kendrick. She did a great job, tweaking the celebrities — some of whom have been on her YouTube show, or want to be. It’s become a must-stop for promotional tours.

Oddly, none of the Academy’s Instagram or YouTube posts from the evening utilized Dimoldenberg as a collaborator. (Across platforms, Dimoldenberg has over 5 million subscribers — equal to the Academy.) Whether oversight or strategy, it reflects a dilemma facing Hollywood now. Everyone knows that change isn’t just coming, it’s here, but there’s real confusion (or denial) in acting on it.

I sought some clarity from Ben Woods, an analyst at entertainment research firm MIDiA and an author of its recent report, “The New Hollywood.” Among the findings: If you’re younger than 34, broadcast is a distant third to social and streaming. Even in the oldest cohort (those 65 and older), broadcast barely holds the majority at 55 percent. (It’s currently unclear if the 2026 Oscars will be available on streaming; this year, it streamed on Hulu.)

The report also offered a strategic playbook for traditional media, but it’s not what anyone at the Academy cocktail would want to hear. Recommendations include hiring digital natives, lean production cycles (citing Dhar Mann’s $1,000 per minute), repackaging back catalogs into multiple FAST or social channels, and adapting to vertical, scrolling content. Bottom line: Traditional players must adopt creator-driven, social-first strategies or risk irrelevance.

Clockwise from top left: Quinta Brunson, Dave Franco and Alison Brie, Anna Kendrick, and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas

At an evening honoring Oscar contenders and their stars, like “Jay Kelly” (George Clooney, Adam Sandler, and Laura Dern), “Sentimental Value” (Elle Fanning, Renate Reinsve, and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas), and “Deliver Me from Nowhere” (Jeremy Allen White, Scott Cooper, Jeremy Strong, and Bruce Springsteen), social cutdowns weren’t top of mind — but they may be the format in which (parts) of these films are most widely seen.

Woods knows his report doesn’t necessarily deliver a popular message. He often gets variations on this question: With a hazy monetization strategy, exactly why should companies do this? The answer, so much as there is one, is don’t kill the messenger.

“Is it better to be able to offer [brands] that holistic message whereby you can say, ‘We can reach audiences — our classic audiences through our broadcast channels, through our streaming channels, and also by the way, we manage the relationship for all of the social audiences and we know exactly what they look like and how they differ?’ I think that’s a powerful message that you’re going to want to try and control rather than not,” Woods said.

And if you don’t — well, nature hates a vacuum. “If you don’t embrace it, you’re going to see situations which we’re already seeing whereby brands are going direct to consumers with entertainment content, whether that’s Dick’s Sporting Goods, whether that’s the Waitrose supermarket in the UK with its really popular video podcasts, whether that’s the Tinder dating app creating a reality TV series akin to ‘Love Island,’” he said. “I think the creator economy has created a license to entertain for anyone.”

No one would equate a supermarket podcast with an Oscar contender, but that’s also beside the point.

A supermarket podcast or dating-app reality series doesn’t belong in the same conversation as Clooney or Springsteen. And the Academy Gala has stolen bragging rights from the Academy’s own Governors Awards as the season’s first must-attend event.

It was also proof that the industry can’t believe tradition is enough. Will Hollywood be able to embrace the creator economy and keep its place at the center of culture — or will the next generation of audiences decide that center lies somewhere else?

Dermot O’Leary’s bestselling children’s book series is leaping from page to stage in a new family production featuring puppetry and original songs.

Little Angel Theatre, Mercury Theatre Colchester and Mayflower Southampton have unveiled the world premiere stage adaptation of “Toto the Ninja Cat and the Great Snake Escape,” based on the popular children’s book by broadcaster Dermot O’Leary and illustrated by Nick East, published by Hachette Children’s Group.

The “Toto the Ninja Cat” series, based on O’Leary’s real-life pets, has sold more than half a million copies globally and been translated into 17 languages.

The story follows Toto, an almost completely blind cat with incredible ninja skills, who must use her courage and cunning to stop a deadly King Cobra that has escaped onto the streets of London, alongside her cheeky brother Silver.

The stage rights were acquired from Hachette Children’s Group in a deal negotiated between Sarah Lennon Galavan, head of licensing for Hachette Children’s Group, and Samantha Lane, artistic director of Little Angel Theatre, and Natasha Rickman, artistic director of Mercury Theatre.

The production will be adapted and directed by Lane, with music and lyrics by Barb Jungr. The duo previously collaborated on “The Smartest Giant in Town,” which received an Olivier nomination for Best Family Show in 2023.

Set, costume and puppet design will be by Little Angel associate director Oliver Hyman, who recently won a special Fringe Theatre Award for exceptional services to puppetry. Lighting design is by Sherry Coenen.

O’Leary, who currently co-presents ITV’s “This Morning” on Fridays, is best known for hosting “The X Factor” from 2007 to 2018. He also presents BBC Radio 2’s Saturday morning breakfast show.

“I’m over the moon to see my book brought to life through puppetry,” said O’Leary. “Toto is currently fast asleep, blissfully unaware of all the attention, but speaking on her behalf, she’ll be thrilled to bits that her adventures are about to come to life, in theatres to audiences all around the country.”

Lane and Jungr added: “It’s such a joyful, funny, and heartwarming story, and we can’t wait to bring Toto’s world, full of courage, friendship, and adventure, to life on stage. Led by a stellar creative team, the production promises brilliant songs, imaginative puppetry, and an abundance of surprises for audiences of all ages.”

The musical will open at Mercury Theatre Colchester April 2-18, 2026, followed by runs at Little Angel Theatre London (May 16-July 19) and Mayflower Studios (July 23-26). Additional tour stops include Bristol Redgrave (July 28-30), Birmingham Town Hall (Aug. 15-16), Weymouth Pavilion (Aug. 18-19), Guildford Yvonne Arnaud (Aug. 20-23) and Capital Theatres (Oct. 23-25), with further dates to be announced.

Schitt’s Creek made the calamitous Rose family famous famous, and their escapades can now be found in one place in Canda.

CBC has added to its FAST streaming portfolio with the launch of a Schitt’s Creek channel, featuring all six seasons of the Emmy Award-winning CBC comedy series, plus one-hour finale special Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: A Schitt’s Creek Farewell.

The channel has launched on CBC Gem, CBC’s streaming service, and will launch on LG Channels and The Roku Channel in Canada this fall. CBC already runs FAST channels for the likes of  Heartland and Murdoch Mysteries.

“Audiences continue to turn to FAST channels for their daily entertainment and we are always looking to meet them where they are and connect them with their favourite shows,” said Sally Catto, General Manager, Entertainment, Factual and Sports, CBC. “The introduction of a new Schitt’s Creek channel makes the iconic series even more accessible to new viewers as well as longstanding fans, allowing them to enjoy nonstop streaming – and laughs – whenever they want.”

Schitt’s Creek was the first Canadian series to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy, starring Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Daniel Levy and Annie Murphy as the wealthy Rose family, who suddenly find themselves broke and living in Schitt’s Creek, a small town they once bought as a joke. Sarah Levy, Chris Elliott, Emily Hampshire and Jennifer Robertson also starred in the comedy, which is broadly considered one of the warmest and most inclusive sitcoms of recent times.

The show comes from Not A Real Company Productions, the production house led by Daniel Levy, who created the show with his father, Eugene Levy.

CBC Gem offers more than 6,500 hours of live and on-demand Canadian programming.
