Julie Delpy and Suranne Jones in Netflix Drama

by jummy84 August 21, 2025
written by jummy84

When the derivative Netflix spy drama Treason premiered in 2022, I used the Charlie Cox vehicle as an excuse to write a small treatise on the institutional misuse and overuse of in medias res openings.

I’ve occasionally needed to reference what I wrote, but I’ve never been able to consistently remember what show I pegged the analysis to. Treason has a wholly generic title, and while it has an OK cast and the recognizable structure of a television series, it’s among the more forgettable dramas of an era that has had more than a few forgettable dramas. There are countless shows, some quite successful, that are far worse than whatever that Charlie Cox show was called, but few that have dissipated into the ether as thoroughly.

Hostage

The Bottom Line

Entirely forgettable.

Airdate: Thursday, August 21 (Netflix)
Cast: Julie Delpy, Suranne Jones, Ashley Thomas, Lucian Msamati
Creator: Matt Charman

Competition comes in the form of the new Netflix drama Hostage. Like that Charlie Cox thing, it’s a London-set five-parter with an instantly negligible title, a solid ensemble and the discernible shape of a television thriller, rendered near-generic by flimsy characterizations, an illogical central action and an ending both silly and cribbed from A Few Good Men to a degree that I’d call parody except for how purposeless the cribbing is.

That this show and that similarly search-challenged Charlie Cox thing both hail from creator Matt Charman suggests a writer skilled at pitching a sturdy hook, but badly in need of more development time to allow the finished product to live up to its potential.

In the case of Hostage, the potential stems from the tantalizing prospect of watching stars Suranne Jones (Gentleman Jack) and Julie Delpy (the Before trilogy) in an acting power struggle — a promise that isn’t quite an empty tease, but never gets delivered upon fully.

Jones plays Abigail Dalton, semi-recently elected as British prime minister. Dalton’s biggest campaign promise was to boost the National Health Service by gutting the military. She has succeeded in the latter, but not the former, as the NHS is in the midst of a shortage of vital medical resources. A crisis is developing.

Dalton is hoping to receive assistance from Vivienne Toussaint (Delpy), the French president, in London for a summit. Toussaint is in the middle of a re-election cycle that has forced her to kowtow to France’s extreme right. Although she has the medical supplies that England needs, she’s prepared to use this power imbalance for her own political needs, which may or may not be nefarious.

The summit becomes more complicated when Dalton’s husband, a Doctors Without Borders physician (Ashley Thomas’ Alex), is taken hostage in French Guiana along with three other doctors. The kidnappers’ only demand is Dalton’s resignation, which seems like a no-brainer to Dalton’s petulant teenage daughter (Isobel Akuwudike’s Sylvie). But if you’ve seen a political thriller before, you probably know that global leaders are big fans of saying that they don’t negotiate with terrorists.

The kidnapping — the logic and strategy of which unravel if you even partially consider them — is predictably part of a conspiracy, one that both goes higher and less high than you could possibly imagine, and quickly compromises Toussaint as well.

The respective challenges that Dalton and Toussaint face are vaguely morally complex and, I guess, compelling, albeit in a gendered way that Hostage isn’t nearly smart enough to explore. Would a largely generic male prime minister whose largely generic female spouse was taken hostage ever be judged negatively for choosing job and country over family? Probably not. Is that relevant here? Barely. Toussaint’s own involvement is tied to a double standard that the show hints at, though it lacks the mettle for deeper engagement. Hostage references things, but is about very little.

The show is convinced that the dilemma is inherently interesting, and it does, if nothing else, give both Jones and Delpy interesting things to play. But the dilemma functions instead of individual characteristics for either woman. They’re defined by the power of their positions and the fragility of their significant others (Vincent Perez briefly plays Toussaint’s media mogul husband) rather than by voices or personality traits. For an episode or two, there’s enough material related to how these women attempt to project power that it’s possible to ignore that neither character behaves as a human outside of the construction of the pressure-filled plot.

It isn’t that the show has a specific disrespect for its two central figures. Every single supporting character is their basic logline and nothing else. Sylvie is introduced after a rowdy night on the town that could have left her and her family embarrassed, but nothing from that introduction is ever relevant again. Toussaint’s step-son Matheo (Corey Mylchreest) is introduced as a leftist willing to protest against his own step-mom, but nothing from that introduction is ever relevant again. The key thing we need to know about Lucian Msamati’s Kofi, one of Dalton’s advisors, isn’t revealed until late in the series, and then even that key detail turns out to be irrelevant.

And those are the series’ most developed characters. At least it’s an iron-clad guarantee that no matter how little you give him to do, Msamati will be watchable! Dalton has a team of aides, only one of whom (Hiftu Quasem’s Ayesha) is given a name (but no additional traits beyond that). Toussaint has only one aide, Jehnny Beth’s Adrienne, whose ubiquity is a spoiler, though viewers will be unable to come up with even a single adjective to describe her. Even Dalton’s husband, whose kidnapping is the hinge for the entire series, could only be described as “doctorly.” Although he’s been taken with three additional colleagues, somehow nobody thought, “Wouldn’t we care more about these people if any of them had a single sympathetic quality?”

If you have an ensemble of characters who aren’t characters, good luck getting viewers to invest on even a superficial level, and good luck getting anybody to care when thriller conventions demand that you kill somebody off in order to simulate stakes.

There’s an off-chance that with six or eight episodes to tell this story, Charman and directors Isabelle Sieb and Amy Neil might have been able to give viewers a few more points of attachment, but the series already feels like its resources are spread thin. The hostage subplot, which was shot in the Canary Islands, is one or two drone shots of a jungle but nothing to generate excitement or tension or visual variety. Back in the U.K., we get some interiors that might as well resemble 10 Downing Street, but it’s mostly indistinguishable sets. The London location work is limited, and when crowd scenes are required, the budget looks to have been enough for a dozen people at most.

From characters to action to the lip service paid to current events and issues, everything in Hostage is sparse. Other than “people like when their politicians are honest,” Hostage has few ideas; at times, it plays like a half-developed spinoff of The Diplomat, a show with an actual perspective on the challenges faced by women in power.

This is a first draft for something that could have been developed and finessed into a series of substance. Delpy, Jones and those curious enough to watch them going head-to-head deserved better than … whatever this show was called.

Last One Laughing season 2 line-up confirmed as Bob Mortimer returns

by jummy84 August 21, 2025
written by jummy84

Whoever survives the longest without cracking a smile (they get just one life before they’re out) is then crowned winner at the end of the run.

This time around the comics competing are David Mitchell, Diane Morgan, Romesh Ranganathan, Amy Gledhill, Maisie Adam, Mel Giedroyc, Alan Carr, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Sam Campbell and season 1 winner Bob Mortimer returning to defend his crown.

The first UK season of the show was contested by Mortimer, Daisy May Cooper, Joe Lycett, Judi Love, Rob Beckett, Sara Pascoe, Lou Sanders, Joe Wilkinson, Harriet Kemsley and Richard Ayoade, who emerged as the runner-up.

Roisin Conaty will also return to cast her eye over proceedings alongside Carr from the safety of the control room.

Mortimer previously spoke to RadioTimes.com and other press about his time filming the show and the challenges he had to overcome.

“I thought it would be easy not to laugh,” he said. “[I] spend most of my days not laughing, so I thought it would be easy, but it’s so difficult! [It’s] just a strange atmosphere, I was really struggling in the beginning.”

Speaking about how he managed not to laugh, the Gone Fishing comedian explained: “I just walked away. There was a few contestants [where] I just couldn’t look at their faces, so I just veered away.”

Daisy May Cooper and Bob Mortimer struggle to hold themselves together in Last One Laughing UK. Prime Video

Meanwhile, Carr spoke to RadioTimes.com about how he couldn’t imagine being a contestant on the show, saying: “I think probably the reason I became a host rather than a team captain on shows was [because] I’m a pretty generous laugher. I’ve got a weird laugh, fine, but I use it a lot. I love stand-up comedy, I consume more than I perform. I watch everyone’s specials and watch all the shows.”

He continued: “I absolutely love comedy as a genre and I think that thing about not laughing is so weird. Like to be in there and not laughing at your friends and being unsupportive, it’s so counterintuitive.”

Prime Video has also spawned versions of the hit format in over 20 countries, with local celebrity hosts including Graham Norton (Ireland), Jay Baruchel (Canada), Eugenio Derbez (Mexico), Fedez (Italy), Michael ‘Bully’ Herbig (Germany), Rebel Wilson (Australia) and Trevor Noah (South Africa).

‘All Creatures Great and Small’ Photos Reveal Time Jump and New Baby in Season 6 Cast — Who’s Returning?

by jummy84 August 21, 2025
written by jummy84

All Creatures Great and Small fans, don’t fear. Despite Callum Woodhouse saying he was “done” in a Season 6 teaser shared by PBS earlier this week, the series has assured that he’s not leaving the show. The All Creatures Great and Small Season 6 cast list has just been revealed, and it confirms that he will be back as Tristan Farnon alongside his fellow longtime costars. It also reveals a time jump in Season 6 and a new baby for the Herriot family!

That August 19 behind-the-scenes video also made fans wonder why Anna Madeley (Mrs. Hall) wasn’t present, but she’ll be back in the new season. The August 21 announcement also came with the first photos from Season 6, set to premiere in 2026 in the U.S., and the announcement of five new cast members. It’s a busy day for fans of this heartwarming series.

All Creatures Great and Small Season 6 takes us back to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales for more heartwarming human and animal tales but, this time, we find our beloved Skeldale gang in a somewhat different situation as we join them in 1945, just as the war in Europe is coming to a close. We arrive back in Darrowby to veterinary advancements, expanded families, and new faces as they all look ahead to a brighter and more peaceful future. This season will see Herriot’s wonderful characters navigating the opportunities that a new world brings, a host of animals great and small, and of course, each other.

This marks a four-year time jump between Season 5 and 6. Season 5 was set in the spring of 1941.

Who is in the All Creatures Great and Small Season 6 cast?

Nicholas Ralph reprises his role as devoted vet James Herriot, alongside Samuel West as the brilliant yet unpredictable business partner Siegfried Farnon. Anna Madeley returns as the steadfast Mrs. Hall, with Rachel Shenton once again as capable Helen Herriot, and Callum Woodhouse as the mischievous Tristan Farnon, still serving with the Royal Army Veterinary Corps. Patricia Hodge delights as the elegant Mrs. Pumphrey, joined by her cherished Pekingese, Tricki. Also featuring are Tony Pitts as Helen’s no-nonsense father, Richard Alderson, and Imogen Clawson as her spirited younger sister, Jenny.

Newcomers to the cast this season are Lucy-Jo Hudson, Gaia Wise, Jonathan Hyde, Philip Martin Brown, and Chris Gascoyne. Returning guest cast are Mollie Winnard, Conor Deane, Cat Simmons, and Lamin Touray.

When does All Creatures Great and Small Season 6 come out?

Season 6 will premiere in the U.K. (on channel 5) this fall and in the U.S. in early 2026, PBS confirms. The new season will consist of six episodes plus a Christmas Special.

The series based on James Herriot’s beloved books is produced by BAFTA and Golden Globe-winning company Playground (Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light, The Hardacres, The Undeclared War) and Masterpiece on PBS, in association with global partner All3Media International.

Tessa Thompson in Nia DaCosta Ibsen Adaptation

Tessa Thompson in Nia DaCosta Ibsen Adaptation

by jummy84 August 21, 2025
written by jummy84

It wouldn’t be a fall festival season without a few cinematic takes on classic works of theater, and none are more intriguing this year than Nia DaCosta‘s “Hedda.”

The director’s fourth feature is an update on Henrik Ibsen’s classic realist drama “Hedda Gabler,” which documents the inner turmoil of a newly married woman who manipulates a former lover into suicide as a way of numbing the frustration and boredom that she feels from her loveless marriage. The play is considered one of Ibsen’s masterpieces and the title character remains one of the quintessential female roles in the Western theatrical canon.

While it remains to be seen how much DaCosta’s adaptation will stick to the original plot, the film will undoubtedly give Tessa Thompson (who previously starred in DaCosta’s “Little Woods”) plenty of rich material to draw from as she steps into the role of Hedda. The actress will be joined by Imogen Poots, Tom Bateman, Nicholas Pinnock, and Nina Hoss.

Since breaking out with “Little Woods” in 2018, DaCosta has largely leant her directorial talents to franchises, including the 2021 “Candyman” sequel and the comic book crossover “The Marvels.” Next on her docket is “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,” which will serve as the second entry in a new trilogy that began with Danny Boyle’s “28 Years Later.” In a recent interview with IndieWire, Boyle explained the unique perspective that DaCosta is bringing to her take on the material.

“I remember asking Nia [about this new trilogy], ‘What do you think it’s about?,’” Boyle said. “It won’t necessarily end up being about this because films change, but I said, ‘What do you think it’s about?’ And she said, ‘Well, I think the first one is about the nature of family. The second one’s about the nature of evil. And the third one is about the nature of redemption.’”

“Hedda” will have its world premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival. Afterwards, Amazon MGM will release the film in select theaters on Wednesday, October 22 and then globally on Prime Video on Wednesday, October 29. Watch the trailer below.

ESPN Unlimited Streaming Service: Price, Sign Up Online

by jummy84 August 21, 2025
written by jummy84

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Variety may receive an affiliate commission.

ESPN officially debuted its new direct‑to‑consumer streaming platform Thursday morning. While the network has for decades been tethered to traditional television bundles, sports fans will, for the first time, be able access everything — ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, ACC Network, ESPNEWS, ESPN Deportes, ESPN on ABC, ESPN+, ESPN3, SECN+ and ACCNX — under one direct subscription (and a personalized app, also launched today).

The ambitious offering under the Unlimited tier is priced competitively at $29.99 per month, bringing an impressive 47,000 live events annually, plus extensive on‑demand features, studio staples like “SportsCenter,” “First Take,” “Pardon the Interruption,” “College GameDay” and premium originals like “30 for 30” to viewers’ fingertips.

This launch doesn’t feel accidental — it’s strategically scheduled to coincide with the high‑stakes kickoff of the college football and NFL seasons, the US Open, international and women’s college soccer, volleyball, field hockey and the oncoming WNBA and PLL playoffs. The NBA and NHL are also ramping up, while marquee UFC and WWE events loom large.

The new direct‑to‑consumer service will bear the singular brand “ESPN,” solidifying its identity in the streaming era. Alongside the Unlimited tier is the more basic Select plan priced at $11.99 per month, while subscribers eyeing a fuller suite can bundle Disney+ and Hulu with the ESPN Unlimited plan at launch for the same $29.99 rate for the first 12 months.

“As we thought about the name, we kept returning to the fact that, across every generation, ESPN is the most trusted, loved and recognized name in sports, and that we should keep it simple and double down on the power of ESPN,” Jimmy Pitaro, ESPN Chairman, said in a statement upon the announcement of the new offering earlier this month. “Our straightforward approach to name and pricing will help fans cut through the clutter, and provide them compelling options to access all our content within the enhanced ESPN App.”

To further incentivize early adopters, the enhanced ESPN App — now loaded with multiview options, integrated game statistics, curated betting info, fantasy tie‑ins, commerce features, and a personalized “SportsCenter For You” feed — will be available both to direct‑to‑consumer subscribers and traditional pay‑TV users alike. In short, ESPN is shifting from a distributor‑centric to a consumer‑centric model, offering familiar faces and flagship shows via a smarter, more engaged interface.

Perhaps most telling is the operational gambit echoing ESPN’s ambition: on August 23, just two days post-launch, fans will be able to stream five out‑of‑market NFL preseason games through the ESPN App, offering significant value for early subscribers. Games such as Ravens at Washington, Bills at Tampa Bay, and Chargers at San Francisco will go live — subject to blackout restrictions — yet available to those with the Unlimited subscription.

Sign up for ESPN Unlimited starting today here.

BBC Committed To 'Doctor Who' — With Or Without Disney

BBC Committed To ‘Doctor Who’ — With Or Without Disney

by jummy84 August 21, 2025
written by jummy84

The Time Lord will not be teleporting away from the BBC anytime soon.

That’s the message from Kate Phillips, the BBC’s new chief content officer, who said the British national broadcaster is committed to Doctor Who — with or without Disney.

Speculation has been swirling around the sci-fi series for months amid plunging ratings and concerns that Disney+ could pull out of its co-production deal with the BBC.

Showrunner Russell T Davies said in June that “we don’t know what’s happening yet” regarding Doctor Who’s future. One thing is certain: Ncuti Gatwa has confirmed his exit as the Doctor.

Season 15 ended on an ambiguous note, as Gatwa regenerated into Billie Piper’s Rose Tyler. Produced by Bad Wolf, spin-off series The War Between The Land And The Sea is up next.

Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival, Phillips said: “Rest assured, Doctor Who is going nowhere. Disney has been a great partnership — and it continues with The War Between The Land And The Sea next year — but going forward, with or without Disney, Doctor Who will still be on the BBC … The Tardis is going nowhere.”

Lindsay Salt, the BBC’s director of scripted, added that the corporation was “committed” to Doctor Who, noting that it continues to perform well with young viewers.

Deadline analyzed official seven-day viewing figures for Season 15, and it does not make easy reading for those involved in Doctor Who.

The season averaged 3.2M viewers over its eight episodes, which was half a million viewers down from last year’s season — Gatwa’s first as the Doctor. Compare Season 15 to Jodie Whittaker’s last outing as the Time Lord, and things get grimmer. Season 13 pulled in 1.7M more viewers, averaging 4.9M in 2021.

Deadline used viewing figures from Barb, the UK’s official ratings body. They include on-demand and streaming viewing on televisions, but are not the full picture. Broadcasters and streamers prefer to use 28-day figures, which provide a more conclusive overview. Nonetheless, seven-day viewing is usually directional and the pattern of decline will likely be reflected in Doctor Who’s final ratings.

First Look at Will Sharpe, Paul Bettany in Sky Series

First Look at Will Sharpe, Paul Bettany in Sky Series

by jummy84 August 21, 2025
written by jummy84

Will Sharpe is musical prodigy Wolfgang ‘Amadeus’ Mozart in a new photos from the upcoming show Amadeus.

Sky released a first look at the limited series on Thursday with Paul Bettany starring as envious court composer Antonio Salieri and Gabrielle Creevy as Constanze Weber, Mozart’s fiercely loyal wife.

Based on Peter Shaffer’s award-winning stage play, and adapted by Joe Barton (Black Doves, Giri/Haji, The Lazarus Project), the five-part reimagination explores the meteoric rise and mythic downfall of one of history’s most iconic composers — and rockstar virtuoso of the 18th century, Wolfgang ‘Amadeus’ Mozart.

When twenty-five-year-old Amadeus arrives in bustling 18th-century Vienna, no longer a child prodigy and craving creative freedom, his world collides with two pivotal figures: his fiercely loyal future wife, Constanze Weber, and devoutly religious court composer, Antonio Salieri.

Gabrielle Creevy as Constanze Weber, Mozart’s fiercely loyal wife in Sky’s ‘Amadeus’.

“As Amadeus’ brilliance continues to flourish in spite of his personal demons, a questionable reputation and scepticism from the conservative court, Salieri becomes increasingly tormented by this apparent divine gift,” a plot synopsis reads. “Amadeus is a threat to all that he holds dear in life: his talent, his reputation, even his faith in God, Salieri vows to bring him down. What begins as professional rivalry turns into a deeply personal obsession spanning 30 years, culminating in a murder confession and a desperate attempt to entwine himself with Mozart’s legacy forever.”

Rory Kinnear, Lucy Cohu, Jonathan Aris, Ényì Okoronkwo, Da Ponte, Jessica Alexander, Hugh Sachs, Paul Bazely, Rupert Vansittart, Anastasia Martin, Nancy Farino, Olivia-Mai Barrett, Viola Prettejohn and Jyuddah Jaymes also star.

Amadeus is produced by Two Cities Television (part of STV Studios) in association with Sky Studios. Megan Spanjian is EP for Sky Studios. Michael Jackson (Patrick Melrose) and Stephen Wright (Blue Lights) are EPs for Two Cities Television. The series EP is John Griffin. Julian Farino (Giri/Haji) and Alice Seabright (Chloe, Sex Education) will serve as directors. Barton, Sharpe, Bettany and Farino also serve as EPs. Seabright also serves as co-EP.

NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution handle international sales of the series on behalf of Sky Studios.

Vanessa Lee of The Things We Do Spills K-Beauty Tips After Jetting Off to Korea With Kim and Khloé Kardashian

written by jummy84

Girls trip goals! Vanessa Lee of The Things We Do enjoyed a Korean getaway — courtesy of Kim Air — with Kim and Khloé Kardashian, La La Anthony, and more, and now, the skincare expert is spilling the beauty intel she picked up overseas.

“Korea is known for their innovation in cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures and prioritizes efficiency and quality. … I always like to go straight to the source of where professionals are mastering their techniques,” she tells ET.

Khloe Kardashian/Instagram

In 2018, the medical aesthetic provider received thread training from Korean providers ahead of opening her own beauty studios, and earlier this year, she visited the country to try out the PicoSure Pro laser and Jeuveau neurotoxin before bringing them to her locations.

As for this time around? Lee got to test out fresh treatments, plus share top advice with her fellow travelers.

“I had the opportunity to guide the girls with my expertise. … This trip was about getting a little more invasive for me. … Korea’s hyperpigmentation technologies, body tightening devices, and biostimulator skin boosters have been on my to-do list.”

Kim Kardashian/Instagram

Some of her favorites: “I loved the Onda body tightening treatment using microwave technology and want to introduce stacking PicoSure with Vivace for maximum skin rejuvenation, as well and to start embossing PRFM into the skin for more superficial support.”

If you are just diving into the K-Beauty trends, the cosmetic RN recommends getting started with staples from Korean pharmacies.

“I love Noscarna for scar reduction, Rejuall PDRN for barrier building and strength, and zinc and pineapple enzyme jellies and powders for internal healing,” she shares.

Khloe Kardashian/Instagram

And even if you’re already a pro, there’s always newness to explore.

“I experienced a variety of more advanced procedures firsthand and studied their potential for our patients and Kim learned about beauty and business for SKIMS. It was so much fun and was a girls’ trip for the books,” Lee says.

Popular David Mitchell series confirmed to not return for new episodes

by jummy84 August 20, 2025
written by jummy84

Alongside Mitchell, other comedians who featured in the show included Alan Davies, Kerry Godliman, Ed Gamble, Jessica Hynes and Judi Love.

Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival 2025, Hilary Rosen, director of commissioning at UKTV, explained that the series would not be returning.

“It is not currently returning, and we have announced that,” confirmed Rosen. “Would we look at that show again in the future? Maybe. Not currently. [David] loved doing it. We loved working with him.

“We definitely would be interested in other ideas with David Mitchell – we have a fantastic relationship with him.”

David Mitchell will return as John ‘Ludwig’ Taylor in Ludwig. BBC / Big Talk Studios

After calling him a “stunning” talent, Rosen was keen on “fresh new interesting ideas” with Mitchell, but noted that he was “pretty busy” and a “difficult man to get a lunch appointment with”.

Speaking about the Taskmaster comparisons to the show back in 2021, Mitchell told RadioTimes.com: “Greg Davies is a very funny man but I don’t think he was my inspiration as a judge, because I couldn’t do that.

“He’s very funny being the strong, fearless, arbitrary authority figure and that’s just not my persona. I pretty much tried to take my role as chairman on The Unbelievable Truth on Radio 4 as my starting point; a slightly befuddled, irascible and indecisive leader rather than the guillotine slice of Greg Davies on Taskmaster.”

Of course, Mitchell’s prolific career continues in earnest, with fans delighted to learn his crime series Ludwig was renewed by the BBC for a second season late last year.

Todd Chrisley Gets Emotional Over Nic Kerdiles’ Death and Wishing Savannah Married Him

by jummy84 August 20, 2025
written by jummy84

Nearly two years after Nic Kerdiles was killed in a motorcycle crash, Todd Chrisley is speaking about the tragedy for the first time. The late former hockey player was engaged to Todd’s daughter Savannah Chrisley before they split in 2021, and Todd formed a close relationship with him during the pair’s time together.

“Out of respect for the love that we have for him, I will tell you, it was the hardest thing that I have ever dealt with in my life,” Todd admitted on the Chrisley Confessions 2.0 podcast. “For those of you who don’t know, Nic Kerdiles was one of the finest, funniest, kindest young men, and I so wanted he and Savannah to be married. I wanted grandchildren, and that didn’t come to pass.”

Savannah was visiting her father in prison when she learned that Nic had died in September 2023. Although almost two years have passed, Todd said his heart is still “not healed.” He also told listeners that he’s “never talking about” this topic again and gave some insight into the relationship he maintained with Nic, even after his split from Savannah.

“Even when they broke up, I still had lunch with Nic,” Todd shared. “I still talked to Nic every day.” Julie Chrisley noted that Nic supported the family amid Todd and Julie’s legal issues, and Todd added, “He and Savannah were no longer together, but he was still there for us.”

Todd and Julie began their prison sentences for tax evasion and bank and wire fraud in January 2023. They were released in May after being fully pardoned by Donald Trump.

“There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think of [Nic],” Todd said. “I think I still grieve what could have been because I had always hoped that they would find their way back.”
