John Williams ‘Never Liked Film Music Very Much’

by jummy84 August 27, 2025
written by jummy84

John Williams is one of the most prolific film composers of all time, having created some of the most iconic scores of the past 60 years, winning five Oscars and becoming the gold standard of movie musicians. Ironically, though, the 93-year-old maestro recently admitted to his indifference and criticism of film music as a genre, telling a biographer “I never liked film music very much.”

In this Guardian interview with author Tim Grieving about Grieving’s upcoming biography of the composer, Williams broke down the craft that he’s contributed so much to. “Film music, however good it can be – and it usually isn’t, other than maybe an eight-minute stretch here and there,” he said, “I just think the music isn’t there.”

He continued, brushing off the appreciation for film music as the product of “remembering it in some kind of nostalgic way,” before adding, “Just the idea that film music has the same place in the concert hall as the best music in the canon is a mistaken notion, I think.” Furthermore, he criticized most film music as “ephemeral” and “fragmentary and, until somebody reconstructs it, it isn’t anything that we can even consider as a concert piece.”

Williams’ greatest works include the Academy-Award winning scores for “Fiddler On The Roof,” “Jaws,” “Star Wars,” and “Schindler’s List,” and his unmistakable music in “Jurassic Park,” “Indiana Jones,” “Superman,” “Harry Potter,” “Home Alone,” “Saving Private Ryan,” “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” “Empire of the Sun” and more. His latest original score for a theatrical film was for “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” in 2023.

Part of the reason that his scores are so remarkable is because they take influence from classical and romantic composers like Johannes Brahms and Pyotr Tchaikovsky. Unsurprisingly, Williams has also composed music apart from the screen, including numerous concert works.

Doomsday’ & Namor’s Return To The MCU

by jummy84 August 27, 2025

Tenoch Huerta is set to reprise his Black Panther: Wakanda Forever role of Namor in Marvel’s upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

In a new interview, the actor teased what it was like filming the latest superhero team-up and how he found out he was returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

“We were waiting on the green light [from Marvel] and my agents in the U.S. were not sure about the news [of my return],” Huerta said on TV Azteca‘s late-night show La Resolana Con El Capi on Sunday. “They practically told us around 12 at night, and at 5:30 in the morning, the [cast reveal] livestream started, and they told us, ‘Hey, the news is about to drop.’ It was surprising and it was cool.”

Of returning to the MCU, Huerta said that this time around “the dynamic has been different,” adding, “There are twentysomething characters involved in the story, which means we are each going to have smaller roles because there needs to be space for all the characters and all the universes. This makes it a much more simpler role, in terms of time and energy of making a film like this.”

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026. Anthony Russo and Joe Russo are directing the film with a script written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely.

Huerta will join other Marvel stars, including Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Vanessa Kirby (Susan Storm), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), and Florence Pugh (Yelena).

The film also stars Lewis Pullman (Sentry), Danny Ramirez (Joaquín Torres / Falcon), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Winston Duke (M’Baku), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier / Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), James Marsden (Cyclops), and Channing Tatum (Gambit).

See Ethan Hawke in ‘The Lowdown’ Trailer from FX, Sterlin Harjo

by jummy84 August 27, 2025
written by jummy84

A well-established trope in film noir is that the protagonist comes out somewhat worse for wear by the end of the story. From the looks of its trailer, FX’s forthcoming series The Lowdown will stay true to that.

As lead character Lee Raybon, Ethan Hawke gets beaten up (and manhandled, and shoved in the trunk of a car) a good amount in the trailer. The reason? Lee is a self-appointed “truthstorian” who is committed to exposing corruption in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which often gets him sideways with those in power.

The Lowdown is Sterlin Harjo’s follow-up to the critically hailed Reservation Dogs at FX. Watch the trailer for the “Tulsa noir” series below.

Here’s how FX describes The Lowdown: “When the publication of Lee’s latest exposé — a deep dive into the powerful Washberg family — is immediately followed by the suspicious suicide of Dale Washberg (Tim Blake Nelson), the black sheep of the family, Lee knows he’s stumbled onto something big. Following a trail of breadcrumbs Dale has left behind, urging someone to dig deeper into the circumstances surrounding his death, Lee does just that. What Lee finds is that Betty Jo (Jeanne Tripplehorn), the grieving widow, seems to be more interested in her brother-in-law Donald Washberg (Kyle MacLachlan), a gubernatorial candidate, than in her dearly departed. And powerful forces want to prevent Lee from learning anything more.”

The series also stars Ryan Kiera Armstrong (Skeleton Crew, Hulu’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot) Kaniehtiio Horn (Reservation Dogs) and Keith David (Duster). Harjo created The Lowdown, which is set to premiere Sept. 23, and executive produces with Hawke, Garrett Basch and Ryan Hawke. FX Productions is the studio.

EastEnders teases feud for Max Branning return with another iconic character

EastEnders teases feud for Max Branning return with another iconic character

by jummy84 August 27, 2025
written by jummy84

Of course, Max has multiple family connections still in Walford – from his brother Jack (Scott Branning) to his eldest children Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) and Oscar (Pierre Moullier), plus a love child he doesn’t know about in Annie Carter.

If that wasn’t enough, he’s also got former flames on the Square in the form of Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) and Linda Carter (Kellie Bright).

However, Max was also never short on enemies, and now one he has never encountered has become clear in Tuesday’s episode (26th August 2025).

Following the exposure of Oscar as the intruder who left Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) shaken, schemer Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) made her anti-Branning feelings very clear.

Speaking to her son and Lauren’s partner, Peter Beale (Thomas Law), in The Albert, Cindy suggested that Lauren had plotted with Oscar to rob the Truemans.

Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) is holding a grudge in EastEnders. BBC

“She is a Branning, I wouldn’t put anything past them,” argued Cindy about Lauren.

Cindy also argued that Peter’s deceased siblings, Lucy (Hetti Bywater) and Steven Beale (Aaron Sidwell), would have seen “straight through” Lauren.

Later, in Kathy’s Cafe, Cindy approached Patrick’s so, Dr. Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey), and complained about Oscar, claiming he had “family form” and “like father, like son”.

Cindy then blamed Max for the death of her eldest son, Steven, and claimed the Brannings were “evil”, with Steven’s death “living proof”.

After telling Anthony he should be relieved Patrick didn’t suffer worse and calling out Oscar’s character, Cindy left.

Of course, fans will recall that Steven sustained fatal injuries following a violent encounter with Max back in 2017 during a fire started as part of Max’s revenge against the Beales for his being framed for Lucy’s murder.

Steven died in hospital after learning that Max’s daughter, Abi Branning (Lorna Fitzgerald), was pregnant with his child. Abi also died months later after a fatal fall from the Vic, but her child, later named Abi after her mother, was saved.

Max now lives away from Walford, estranged from all his children, but is still the guardian of his granddaughter Abi, who is also Cindy’s grandchild. Max and Cindy share three grandchildren – Abi Jr., Peter and Lauren’s sons, Louie Beale (Jake McNally) and Jimmy Beale.

In case that history wasn’t complicated enough, Max also had an affair with Lucy before she was killed at the hands of her younger half-brother Bobby Beale.

So, there’s now set to be huge tension when Max returns to Walford.

Yet, given the similar scheming and adulterous behaviour of both Max and Cindy, many fans (with us included!) have speculated that this tension could lead to passion as well as fury.

We’ll certainly be ready for drama…

What We Do in the Shadows may have bid viewers adieu in late 2024, but the vampire comedy from FX is gearing up for its final bow as the show celebrates a slew of Emmy nominations.

While the show did land a nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series overall, as well as Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, What We Do in the Shadows‘ incredible creative and technical teams have also earned notable nominations, including Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Program (Half-Hour), Outstanding Picture Editing for a Single Camera Comedy Series, Outstanding Period or Fantasy/Sci-Fi Makeup (Non-Prosthetic), and Outstanding Perior or Fantasy/Sci-Fi Hairstyling.

And in celebration of those teams, we have an extra-special peek behind the scenes of the comedy, as a never-before-seen video walks fans through the backstage and mansion the vampires lived in onscreen. While Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), Laszlo (Matt Berry), Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch), and human Guillermo (Harvey Guillen) may have occupied the Staten Island abode, What We Do in the Shadows‘ mansion was actually built on a set in a Toronto-based studio.

TV Insider was on set for the fifth and sixth seasons of the series, where we captured a couple of the images seen above. But this new exclusive sneak peek offers an even better peek behind the curtain.

As seen in the exciting video above, it’s an all-hands-on-deck team effort as props are moved from room to room, and the walk-through offers a glimpse into the massive and nearly full construction of the house inside the soundstage.

Among some of the highlights are the main foyer heading into the house, as well as a glimpse at the kitchen, parlor, library, and much more. Don’t miss it for yourself, check out the video above, and let us know what you loved most about the vampires’ mansion in the comments section.

Meghann Fahy's Favorite 'Sirens' Scene Was an 8-Page Fight

Meghann Fahy’s Favorite ‘Sirens’ Scene Was an 8-Page Fight

by jummy84 August 26, 2025
written by jummy84

Welcome to My Favorite Scene! In this series, IndieWire speaks to actors behind a few of our favorite television performances about their personal-best onscreen moment and how it came together.

Flowers are still a wonderful way to say, “Congrats on your recent awards recognition!” But you’d think someone would have sent two-time Emmy nominee Meghann Fahy — the magnetic star of Netflix’s delicious “Sirens,” from showrunner and playwright Molly Smith Metzler — an Edible Arrangement by now. After all, one was her scene partner in one of her signature sequences in the Netflix series.

“I actually haven’t gotten one of those yet, which is fine by me, because, girl, I dragged that thing around for what felt like weeks,” the actress recently told IndieWire. “It was very heavy. I would guess like 33 pounds, maybe? Give or take. It’s a real unit.”

Nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie — at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards on September 14 — Fahy spends a big chunk of the first “Sirens” episode figuratively shackled to a bouquet of fruit. The misunderstood sweetheart she plays, Devon DeWitt, doesn’t care for perishable greeting cards either.

Skewered melon balls become an inciting incident for the seriocomic miniseries, when Devon’s estranged younger sister, Simone (Milly Alcock), mails one of these citric free-weights back to home in to Buffalo — instead of visiting the girls’ ailing dad (Bill Camp) while he’s worsening from dementia.

“You learn so much about the two characters in the middle of the show. Their childhood was very dark and sad and scary, and I think you realize Devon’s sense of self came from being useful to her sister,” said Fahy. “Her sister really needed her, and she was able to take care of her in a way that she felt really proud of — stepping up to be the main caregiver when she was still a kid. But she never really got to develop a sense of self beyond that, so when her sister leaves, she doesn’t really grow.”

Pissed off by the star-shaped pineapples dropped off at her doorstep, it’s not long before Devon goes to confront Simone on the idyllic island where she works as an assistant for the ethereal-yet-unsettling Kiki (Julianne Moore). When Devon arrives on too-beautiful Port Haven, she has the rotting care package in tow. Yes, Simone should help out with Bruce, but Devon also wants to make a point.

“I always feel sympathetic toward these women in a way that I think probably comes through because I’m truly fascinated by their trauma,” said Fahy. “For Devon, I hope that by the end people feel like she’s probably going to go back in some capacity to the life that she was living before, but that she’s going to make some changes that make her feel better about herself — for herself.”

To Fahy, the emotional journey Devon undertakes starts and ends in the realization that she “doesn’t know how to feel good about herself.” The actress explored similar questions about motherhood and self-esteem — albeit from a wildly different angle — when she got her first nod from the Television Academy in 2023 for appearing as Daphne in “The White Lotus” Season 2.

Fahy was up for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series back then, but she was drawn to the more antagonistic role for “White Lotus” by the same seductive song of psychology that united her and Devon. Speaking to IndieWire about her favorite scene from the Emmy-nominated “Sirens,” Fahy looked back on an eight-page fight — filmed as a one shot — that doubles as a psychic map for the entire show.

The following interview has been edited and condensed for clarity.

'Sirens' Clip - Worried

IndieWire: Please, tell me about this confrontation between Devon and Simone that kicks off Episode 2, “Talons.” Why was that your favorite scene in “Sirens”?

Meghann Fahy: There’s so many different components that make it my favorite scene. The first one is just the length of it. It’s like an eight-plus page scene, which is pretty rare for television. But the creator of “Sirens,” Molly Smith Metzler is a playwright, so I think she’s very unafraid of writing longer dialogue. So, that in and of itself is always really exciting as an actor. The subject of is a lot of context to the sisters’ relationship. It’s sort of the first time that you really see the two of them together in a private space where they’re really being themselves with each other.

Then, I think just the way that we were able to shoot it. Nicole Kassell directed that episode — the first two episodes, actually — and she’s incredible. I just was so grateful that she decided that it was really important to prioritize Milly and I being able to do the scene all the way through without breaking it up into a bunch of different parts.

The scene takes place in four different spaces. She comes into the main room. Then, they’re in the closet. Then, they’re in the bathroom. And finally, they’re in the bedroom by the time that Kiki [Julianne Moore] comes in at the end and interrupts them. We were really, really hopeful that we were going to be able to figure out a way for us to do it without breaking it up into chunks, because it’s such an emotional scene in certain moments.

It’s written so well that it’s easy to get to those places when you’ve been saying all of the words, but to break it up into chunks puts a hole in the tire, in a sense. We had an amazing camera crew. We rehearsed it like a play. We didn’t really have marks on the floor to hit. We just kind of freestyled it. The camera operators were kneeling down on the floor with us when we were down, and they were up when we were up, and they were avoiding mirrors and staying out of each other’s way while also trying to get Milly and I at the same time. I’ve never had an experience like that on any set, and it really felt like every single person was coming together to help the other person achieve what they wanted to.

You’ve got that theater background, too. What did you and Milly do to rehearse, specifically?

We rehearsed the mechanics of it, but I think Milly and I both felt like the emotion of the scene was already right there because we just love the way that Molly writes so much. I was a fan of hers before this, and so I think Milly and I knew that once everything was in place, and we were shooting, everything would just be there because of the way that Molly wrote it.

We mostly just technically figured out what does this look like, and how does this feel, and what is the rhythm of this? Then, it was like, “OK, let’s wait until we’re actually rolling to get into it.” I remember at the end of the day when we wrapped, Milly and I both felt like we’d just gotten off a roller coaster at an amusement park. You know, when your body is kind of buzzy a little bit? It was that feeling.

You shot the entire scene in one day. Were you worried at all about breaking? Laughing at each other? Some of these lines are incredibly funny.

I had a hard time in general with that on “Sirens.” As soon as Glenn Howerton showed up, he was making me break a lot. Like, the scene where he shows up and he thinks that Devon is the valet, so he just throws his keys at her while she’s walking up the driveway? He has such an incredibly gentle sensibility to his comedy.

Bill Camp one day made us break. We were in the car doing this scene right before the gala where he gets in the front seat and we’re trying to go find Simone and she’s disappeared. Nobody knows where she is, and we’re all piled in the car. And he said something that made all of us crack up so hard, we were crying.

Once that happens, it’s so hard to come back from it. There, it was one line in particular that was making us die. And then it was like we would laugh knowing that that line was about to come up again in the scene, and it was really hard to put a lid on it to get through it. You feel like you’re a kid in school. Suddenly the director’s like, “OK, alright, relax.”

How did you manage that in this scene with Milly?

Sorry, I went on a tangent there!

[Laughs] No, I love it.

With that scene, there’s an intense emotional undercurrent all the way through. So, even the beats that feel really funny and comedic are always still a little bit sad. That was part of what I really loved about the show and why I wanted to do it so much, because that’s my favorite kind of thing. I always felt really connected to how there was sadness even in the funniest moments. Because of that through-line in that specific scene, it was pretty easy to stay in it.

It’s a real roadmap for so much of the rest of the tragedy of the show too, and it’s key to setting up the fierce protectiveness Devon has for Simone. How did you find that tone?

Devon needs help with their dad and everything, but I think her real journey is not knowing how to feel good about herself without being of use to her sister and being needed by her, which I think is probably how some mothers feel when their children leave the house. You know? It’s like Empty Nest Syndrome.

After a certain number of years, you’re so validated by taking care of and helping another person thrive that then, when they’re gone, you have to reevaluate. Like, “OK, what makes my life full on its own? How do I do that for myself?” That’s the journey Devon is really on the whole time. And I hope that by the end that people feel like she’s probably going to go back in some capacity to the life that she was living before, but that she’s going to make some changes that make her feel better about herself.

Meghann Fahy, Katie Stevens, and Aisha Dee on ‘The Bold Type’

That blend of sadness and comedy, and even atypical family dynamics, run throughout a lot of your work. I’m thinking of Sutton from “The Bold Type,” growing up taking care of her alcoholic mom. Do you find you’re drawn to those types of roles a lot?

I guess I never really thought of it that way, but I do love the idea of comedy being used as a way of keeping people out of your past. I think for Devon too, she uses comedy as a way to keep people from really knowing her life and that’s not how comedy usually presents.

Comedy can feel very confident and it isn’t a lot of the time. I love that sort of balance — of Devon presenting as this person who is very comfortable with herself and doesn’t change who she is regardless of being in this setting where she’s clearly being judged. But then, the more you get to know her, the more you really get to see that she is constantly pushing people away, and the only person who’s ever really known her in any actual capacity is her sister.

When she feels rejected by her sister, that’s the real pain because that’s the only person who ever really saw her. So Devon feels like, “Well, if you don’t accept me, then I am worthless.” And that’s why she has such self-destructive tendencies and I am fascinated by that, yeah.

It’s reflected in the exterior of the characters too, with the costuming and styling consistently reframing that divide between them. In this scene for Episode 2, Devon comes in wet and starts going through all of Simone’s clothes to find something to wear. Talk to me about incorporating that visual element into the escalation.

I mean, I love physical comedy. I think it’s really fun, and I got to do some of it in this show for sure. Just getting out of a wetsuit is so awkward no matter how you’re doing it. And then, not knowing where any of the clothes are — or not liking any of them  — I love that quality of her being really freaked out, but also a little impressed by the closet. Like, “Holy shit, this is your closet?!” So I think that sort of physical comedy component — in conjunction with the lines being really funny, and then also being really heavy hitting at the end — it was such a fulfilling experience all the way around. It really felt like problem-solving at the beginning. Like, “OK, how are we going to make all of these things marry each other in a way that makes sense?” and I loved figuring that out.

This scene also sets the stage for the audience’s slippery perception of Julianne Moore’s character and the bizarre relationship Kiki has with Simone. What’s it like to effectively project a first impression of another complex character on screen? Where do you start?

I think Molly did a really great job of writing Devon as being sort of the audience’s way into the story. She’s the eyes of the audience, in a way, and I love that Julianne’s character is sort of this ethereal, untouchable goddess-like creature to everyone but Devon at that point. Devon has her own moment with Kiki in the bathroom later, but at that point she’s like, “I don’t get it.” It’s almost like she comes in and she has this aura and it just doesn’t work on Devon.

There’s something funny about seeing that energy come to a halt when Devon is faced with it, whereas every other time we see Kiki, even the way the music changes, it’s all in support of this energy and this aura around this woman. I always loved that in that moment in particular, she’s like, “We’re busy. Can you get out?” I thought Molly did a really good job of creating that discourse.

Kiki has a different kind of response to that defensiveness too. Immediately trying to bring Devon deeper in, saying, “Have you heard about our recent trauma?”

Oh, my God, yes! And the way she says that line is so good. It’s so good!

Did you have a big reaction to Julianne saying, “Are you a mermaid, Devon?”

[Laughs] I mean, Julianne’s sensibility is also very stealth in this way that is really impressive to me. It’s so effortless for her and it’s so subtle, and I just think watching that play out in the show was one of my favorite parts. Without saying it, she’s kind of coming back at Devon being like, “I see you and I know what you’re doing, and it’s not intimidating to me, so relax.” You know what I mean? It’s a cool energy.

A scene from HBO’s ‘The White Lotus’ Season 2

Unspoken tension between women in drama is such a specific thing to convey. In the spirit of the Emmys, when you look back on “The White Lotus,” people still talk about Daphne’s big phone reveal — when she effectively admitted that she was cheating on her husband without using those words. What do you make of that scene’s legacy?

I’ve always wondered and thought that maybe part of what has made that scene so memorable is that it’s a very unique combination of just coming out with this crazy thing and owning it, and also doing it in a way that makes you second guess whether or not that’s what happened.

I mean, it’s pretty obvious, right? She’s saying, “I have this trainer and you should get one, and this is why, and this is what he looks like, and here are my kids.” She’s literally saying exactly what you think she’s saying, but you just can’t believe that she came out with it. You kind of can’t believe it because it seems so crazy. I think people were really taken aback by the forwardness of that moment, I think in a way. And then also, just based on what everyone had learned about the character of Daphne up to that point, it was such a huge shift in how I think the audience saw her after that. I think it’s probably both of those things in some combination, but I don’t know. What do you think?

It’s complicated! And that duplicitousness is so key in “Sirens,” too. The whole show is a confrontation, from the fruit basket onwards. And that’s a difficult — maybe even a controversial choice? — for Devon to have made. But at least she’s coming out and saying it, right? How do you keep the audience on your side with characters like that?

I always feel so sympathetic towards them in a way that I think probably comes through because I’m fascinated by their trauma. It always comes back to family trauma, and asking, with every person who behaves badly, what is the reason for that?

I very rarely cannot feel sympathetic towards someone when I think about it in terms of that, and I often do with characters. That’s a huge part of my way in because it’s part of what fascinates me about humanity at large. I think about that for myself, for my friends, for people that I meet randomly, or waiters, everyone. I just feel like no one is exempt from that trauma and the manifestation of it and the varying degrees that that can show up in our lives and affect the way that we interact with other people. It’s like, oh, my God, I can’t get enough of it.

Is there a moment in particular from your favorite “Sirens” scene that captures that?

One of my favorite parts is that last line Devon has where Simone really lands a hard truth on her, which is like, “You’re just mad because you never left.” And she says, “I did leave. I was the original leaver. I just came back because I’m such a good sister.” And it’s so funny when she says it, but she’s also crying? I loved that line so much because it felt almost childlike, almost a little petulant. That’s the comedy. “I was the original leaver.” Molly wrote that line and I loved it so much because I think at that moment Devon knows that Simone is right.

I don’t have a sister at all, and I am not an older sibling. I’m a younger sibling. But I imagine that feeling — of your younger sibling who you’ve always felt was the baby that you were taking care of, telling you something about yourself that you’re not ready to face yet and seeing you in that way — I think it makes Devon really uncomfortable. That’s why she comes back with this sort of hurt, but also childlike anger at her sister. I just feel like that line contains all of those feelings in one sentence, and I just think that’s another part of that sort of thing that I love, that I actually have never spoken about that just popped into my head when you asked me that.

Do you think Devon did the right thing by confronting Simone?

I do. I ultimately do because I think that what happens is she gets closure. And I know that she realizes like, “Oh, I have to go out on my own now. My sister has made her choice. I have to accept that choice.” I think she shows up there because she can’t accept her sister’s choice to not want to be in her life anymore. That’s ultimately what it boils down to. And I think at the end of the weekend — which is another crazy thing, the show takes place over three or four days or something — she finally accepts that her sister has made her choice and now she has to go live her life on her own terms, the way that her sister is doing. And so I do think that it was ultimately worthwhile for her to go there. She had to go through that and see it with her own eyes so she could accept it.

I hope someone sends you a fruit basket of a reasonable weight in the near future.

[Laughs] I really appreciate that. Thank you.

The upcoming “Yellowstone” spinoff at CBS is rounding out its main cast.

“Y: Marshals,” which will see Luke Grimes reprise the role of Kayce Dutton, has added seven new cast members. Those include fellow “Yellowstone” alums Gil Birmingham, Mo Brings Plenty, and Brecken Merrill. The three will reprise their roles as Thomas Rainwater, Mo, and Tate Dutton respectively.

The official logline states:

“With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Kayce Dutton (Grimes) joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence.”

The new series regulars include: Arielle Kebbel (“Rescue: Hi-Surf,” “Ballers) as Belle, Ash Santos (“Pulse,” “Mayor of Kingstown”) as Andrea, and Tatanka Means (“Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Reservation Dogs”) as Miles. All three will play members of the U.S. Marshals. In addition, Brett Cullen (“Apollo 13,” “Joker”) will appear in the recurring role of Harry Gifford, the head of the U.S. Marshals in Montana. It was previously announced that Logan Marshall-Green would play Pete Calvin, a friend from Kayce’s time in the military.

Kebbel is repped by Independent Artists Group, Untitled Entertainment and Hansen Jacobson. Santos is repped by M88, Gersh, Platform Public Relations and Myman Greenspan. Cullen is repped by Innovative Artists and Lovett Management. Means is repped by Amsel, Eisenstadt, Frazier & Hinojosa Inc. and Authentic Talent and Literary Management. Birmingham is repped by Amsel, Eisenstadt, Frazier & Hinojosa Inc. Merrill is repped by Industry Entertainment.

“Y: Marshals” was ordered to series at CBS in May for the 2025-2026 broadcast season. The series is slated to debut at midseason. The initial episode is being written by Spencer Hudnut and directed by Greg Yaitanes. Hudnut also serves as executive producer and showrunner. “Yellowstone” mastermind Taylor Sheridan executive produces along with David C. Glasser for 101 Studios as well as John Linson, Art Linson, Grimes, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Greg Yaitanes, Michael Friedman, and Keith Cox. Paramount Television Studios will produce. The series will be distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

“Y: Marshals” is not the only “Yellowstone” spinoff in the works. There is also a new series centered on Beth and Rip, which recently added Annette Bening to its cast. Sheridan is also prepping the latest prequel series, “1944,” for Paramount+.

Trump Is Asked By Reporter About Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce Engagement

by jummy84 August 26, 2025
written by jummy84

As Donald Trump took questions at a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, one reporter asked him about the big breaking pop culture news of the day: The announcement that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were engaged.

“Well, I wish them a lot of luck,” Trump said. “He’s a great player, and I think he’s a great guy, and I think that she’s a terrific person, so I wished them a lot of luck.”

The answer from Trump was a bit of surprise, as he has denigrated Swift previously on social media. Just a few weeks ago, he called Swift a “woke singer” and “no longer hot.” His campaign also dismissed her endorsement of Kamala Harris last year, while Trump himself raged at one point, “I hate Taylor Swift.” Swift also endorsed Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.

The engagement was announced on Swift’s Instagram feed earlier on Tuesday, in which she wrote, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” Her post quickly generated coverage on cable news networks, certainly aware of the potential draw to any story about Swift, who has 280 million Instagram followers. Trump has 36.8 million on the platform.

The reporter who asked about the engagement was Reagan Reese of The Daily Caller.

‘Love Island USA’ Season 7 Reunion Highlights: Unseen Footage Revealed

by jummy84 August 26, 2025
written by jummy84

After Love Island USA‘s drama-filled seventh season, there was plenty to unpack between all the Islanders at the reunion special.

Season seven of Peacock‘s hit reality dating show concluded last month with Amaya and Bryan being named the winning couple. Huda and Chris, Olandria and Nic, and Iris and Pepe were also among the final couples.

On Monday, almost all the Islanders reunited to unpack the summer of chaos and love. The reunion, hosted by Andy Cohen and Love Island USA host and Vanderpump Rules alum Ariana Madix, featured unseen footage from controversial dumpings and challenges, updates on the couples’ current relationship status and more.

Below, The Hollywood Reporter breaks down the highlights from the season seven Love Island USA reunion.

Season 7 Couples’ Current Relationship Status

As of when the reunion was pre-recorded on Aug. 12, some Islanders who coupled up in the villa were still going strong, while some had called it quits since leaving the villa. Winners Amaya and Bryan, runner-ups Olandria and Nic, and Iris and Pepe happily shared they’re still together. While Huda and Chris split during the final episodes of Love Island USA, Chris also made it clear during the reunion that they will never be friends outside the villa either.

When Bryan was asked about his cheating allegations from fans, he quickly shut them down, saying, “They’re trying to just throw any hate my way, and with the cheating video, the hosting I got paid to be there. I used to bartend back in the day. I had a lapse of judgment and we’ve [he and Amaya] talked about it.” As for what his “lapse of judgment” was, he added that he was “pouring shots around, giving the crowd shots and stuff like that.” Amaya said after, “We definitely spoke about it, and I’m also not a woman that would be with someone who doesn’t respect me, so if I’m still with him, it’s clearly because the relationship dynamic is healthy and great.”

As for Huda’s relationship status, as she’s been spotted walking red carpets with a new man, she told the co-hosts, “I can’t speak about my relationships outside the villa.” When Cohen questioned, “And why is that?” Huda responded, “Legal reasons, I’m not allowed to speak. It’s Netflix. I’m not allowed to talk about it.”

Later in the reunion, Clarke and Taylor, as well as Chelley and Ace, confirmed that they’re both still exclusive in their couples. Ace added that he has “something cooking up,” regarding making Chelley officially his girlfriend.

There was also an awkward moment between Jaden and Austin, who left the villa as a couple, as clearly they weren’t on the same page in the real world. Jaden called Austin out for not respecting her post villa, saying, “I was blind sided in a way because I did send you a message saying, ‘If you were planning on dating or hooking up with other people, if you could just let me know, but I didn’t care if you did.’ I was like, ‘You could do whatever you want, just give me the respect of letting me know that.’ And then you didn’t.” However, Austin claimed, “Dating in the villa is dating multiple people, so like dating on the outside, I can still wanna get to know you and go on dates with someone else.” He apologized to Jaden after.

Unseen Footage Revealed of Boys’ and Girls’ Votes to Send Hannah and Jeremiah Home

One of the most shocking moments from season seven was when the safe male Islanders chose to send Jeremiah packing and the female Islanders voted to send Hannah home, ending her journey with Pepe. After unseen footage of the girl’s deliberations from that night was shown during the reunion, an emotional Hannah said that while it still “hurts,” it feels “better to know now.”

“I think that’s what I struggled with a lot, is I just felt like there were so many unanswered questions and I just was wondering what I did wrong or [if] there was something I could have done or said that would have changed things,” Hannah added. “But I’m grateful for my experience, and I just was not going to find love in the villa and that’s OK.”

When Madix asked if any of the women regretted sending Hannah home or if their reasoning still stands, Chelley responded, “Sending someone home is never a good feeling, and even sitting here seeing you emotional now is not a good feeling either. In that moment, I was like, maybe we could do things a little bit differently — there’s other people here who haven’t gotten a chance to find a connection, and a little part of it we were thinking, ‘Oh my gosh, she gets to see Charlie again.’” At the end of the day, we still didn’t even feel good about it.”

Later, the boy’s deliberations over sending Jeremiah home were also shown, and Ace also responded to fan claims that he was the “ringleader” behind getting Jeremiah dumped from the Island.

“It was group settings when we had that,” Ace said. “If you think I’m just gonna have a conversation with myself throughout the whole entire thing, it’s kind of silly to believe that. And I felt like other people gave their inputs on things that just wasn’t highlighted.”

He later admitted he partly regretted sending Jeremiah home and that looking back, “I definitely feel like Austin should have went home.”

However, Madix also shared the fan votes from that night, revealing that Jeremiah and Hannah were also in the bottom, so the result of the dumping would have been the same even if fans had decided.

Where Nic Stands With Cierra

Nic was asked by a fan during the episode if he had spoken to Cierra since leaving the villa, as he was coupled up with her during most of his time in the villa before she exited the show when her racial posts resurfaced online. After she left, that’s when Nic and Olandria decided to get to know each other more.

He clarified that he’s not talked to Cierra and “I don’t plan on it either.” Nic continued, “Leaving the villa, I wanted to speak to her after I processed all those things coming out the first week, and then she started making these videos. … I feel like she was prioritizing some attention through those videos rather than wanting to fix anything, if there was anything to fix.”

Huda’s Friendship Drama With Chelley and Olandria Unpacked

Cohen also asked Huda about her claims that she was bullied in the villa, including by Chelley. Huda clarified that “there were certain things that did hurt my feelings. Maybe bullying could have been a different word, but truly, I’ve really just moved on from it.”

Chelley apologized after, adding that there’s “no ill feeling” between them.

As for where Huda’s friendship stands with Olandria, the latter said it “pained” her when Huda didn’t directly address the hate she was receiving from Huda’s stands outside the villa. “We were super close in the villa,” Olandria said. “Upon exiting the villa, once we got our phones back, I saw the amount of hate that I was getting from her stands and I expressed to her, ‘Hey, I really feel like it’s important, especially if you consider yourself very close to me and to Chelley, at some point to speak out to your fans and kind of address the racism and all the things.’”

Olandria added that all the hate was “fucking with me mentally. It was so bad,” and that it hurt her when Huda “got into the real world and kind of fell into that narrative and fed it.” That’s one of the reasons why Olandria unfollowed Huda on social media and hadn’t spoken to her until the reunion.

As for why Huda didn’t post when Olandria asked her to, she responded, “I was doing so much outside of that. I didn’t know what to say in that moment because I was dealing with so much. I wanted to address more than just that.”

At the end of their conversation, Olandria and Chelley confirmed they don’t have any interest in being friends with Huda going forward, with the latter saying, “I wouldn’t feel like I could trust her as my friend.”

Extended Version of Heart Rate Challenge Aired

Another controversial moment from the season was Huda’s performance during the Heart Rate Challenge. During the show, Huda and Chelley had a falling out after the raunchy challenge, as Chelley felt Huda disregarded their friendship and crossed a line with Ace. While all the Islanders were pushing the boundaries during the challenge — which sees the contestants compete to see whose sexy dance routines can raise the heart rates of their fellow Islanders the most — Chelley expressed that she thought Huda went too far.

Some fans shared on social media that they felt Chelley’s anger toward Huda was unjustified, as all the Islanders were going all out during the challenge. However, viewers pointed out that not all of Huda’s performance was aired during the episode, leading some to speculate that the part that made Chelley mad wasn’t shown.

It was all revealed during the reunion as an extended version of the challenge was shown to viewers. After, Huda admitted she “took it a step too far for certain people, and I do apologize if I made anybody feel uncomfortable. Everything was consensual. There was no limitations, and we all made that very clear at the beginning of the challenge.”

Though Chelley said she felt her response was justified, as “it was never because we didn’t consent to this.” She added, “I think when you do certain challenges, it’s with intention because you’re interested in a person, you like a person. I mean, to my knowledge, you didn’t have any interest for Ace, so to go as far as that, as me being your friend, I think my reasons were very justified.”

Who Was Screaming During Olandria’s Confessional Revealed

Amid Cierra’s exit from the season, some fans heard during one of Olandria’s confessional videos a voice screaming in the background. This led to some viewers speculating it was Cierra yelling after she learned she was being sent home; however, Madix debunked that theory during the reunion.

“Viewers thought that they could hear Cierra screaming in the background while Olandria was in the confessional, but that wasn’t quite it,” Madix said. It was later shown that the people “screaming” were actually Huda and Iris loudly singing “Who Says” by Selena Gomez.

Val and Breezy Griffith Share Their SkinnyDipped Snacking Secrets and Why Stars Are Eating Them Up

Snack time! Mother-daughter duo Val and Breezy Griffith founded SkinnyDipped to create better-for-you treats that don’t skimp on indulgence — and they’ve already won over fans like Kim and Kourtney Kardashian, Olivia Munn, Chace Crawford, Camila Mendes, Mark Wahlberg, and Tyler Cameron.

“Food has always been my love language. … It brings people together. … A delicious meal or snack becomes the centerpiece of conversation and laughter, whether at a family gathering, or just a moment shared between friends,” Val tells ET.

With that philosophy in mind, the two set out to spread joy far and wide through noshing.

SkinnyDipped

“Our snacks are thinly, or skinny, dipped. … We wanted to offer the perfect balance of healthy and delicious, plus sweet and salty,” she adds.

It’s no wonder why their whole roasted almonds and cashews dipped in chocolate or yogurt, and peanut butter cups made with real peanut butter and caramel, have earned A-list approval.

“They satisfy cravings without the guilt. … We focus on eating real, whole foods in moderation, and try to avoid ultra-processed foods as much as possible,” Breezy says.

“We’ve always believed that the kind of food we whip up and share with our loved ones should be made available to everyone,” she continues while celebrating the release of their Pumpkin Spice Almonds.

In addition to enjoying their favorite nutritious dishes, the duo prioritizes wellness in their daily routines.

“I swear by getting on the Peloton four times a week, doing a few cold plunges weekly, and walking as much as I can. … I also carve out moments to pause, breathe, and find stillness,” Val shares.

As for Breezy’s regimen? “I try to fit in movement, whether it’s a workout, or taking calls while walking. I cold plunge when I can and spend as much time outdoors in nature as possible.”
