BLKOUT Walls Mural Festival Returns With 10 New Murals Across Detroit

by jummy84 September 9, 2025
written by jummy84

Make the city brighter! The BLKOUT Walls Mural Festival is back for its third annual celebration in Detroit, Michigan, running Monday, Sept. 8 through Sunday, Sept. 14.

This year, the event will unveil 10 new large-scale murals by local and national artists, transforming spaces across the area.

Lamar Landers

“Attendees will experience a different landscape of the city,” BLKOUT Walls founder Sydney G. James tells ET.

“The featured artists are painting on walls located in the Woodbridge and Franklin neighborhoods and on East Jefferson Avenue.”

Beyond enjoying the art itself, guests can attend talks to hear the inspirations behind the installations, each designed to amplify BIPOC voices.

Lamar Landers

“We prioritize small business-owned properties to adorn. The owners of the property and the surrounding neighbors get beautification revitalization,” James explains.

The 2025 theme, A Beautiful Resistance, challenges selected participants to reshape the atmosphere of their environments through vibrant, joy-filled work.

“A mural, sculpture, and/or art installation is meant to create and/or change a mood of a space,” James says.

For James and her fellow artists, it’s also about supporting the community.

Lamar Landers

“Art itself — or better yet, the sharing of art — is giving back, especially when referring to public art,” she notes.

Before wrapping up the festival, there will be a BLKOUT Walls Block Party on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 1–5 p.m. at Spirit Plaza (2 Woodward Ave., Detroit, MI 48226).

‘Unidentified’ Review: Haifaa Al-Mansour Returns

by jummy84 September 9, 2025
written by jummy84

“It’s easier to get away with killing a woman. Sadly, society doesn’t care as much when a woman dies.”

That’s the reality of life in Saudi Arabia, said writer-director Haifaa Al-Mansour at the post-screening Q&A of her new film “Unidentified.” The film, which premiered at Toronto International Film Festival, opens with a truck speeding off after having deposited the body of a teenage girl dressed in a school uniform on an isolated desert peak.

The peach-tinted coloring of the sand fills the frame with quiet solemnity. Visually, Al-Mansour’s approach is middle-of-the-road: it gets the job done without flair. The pacing feels right from the beginning: as the story unravels, the plot points neither dawdle nor lurch too quickly forward.

'Light of the World'

Al-Mansour — probably the most well-known and one of the first women filmmakers in Saudi Arabia —returns with the final film in her trilogy featuring protagonists all with the surname Al Safan, each possessing an unshakeable will to assert her rights as a woman in a society where doing so is often dangerous.

In the first feature of the trio, “Wadjda” (2013), a girl fights for the right to ride a bicycle, released five years before women gained the right to drive cars in Saudi Arabia. In “The Perfect Candidate” (2019), a young woman (Mila Al-Zahrani) runs for municipal office, something women in Saudi Arabia first gained the right to do, along with voting, just four years prior to its release. And in “Unidentified,” a recently divorced young woman (again Mila Al-Zahrani) moves to the city to live alone and work as a file clerk at a police station when the murder of a teenage Jane Doe compels her to solve the case. (The Saudi Personal Status Law was enacted in 2022, expanding legal pathways for women to initiate divorce.)

In each of these films, the subtext is always to showcase the humanity and courage of women in Saudi Arabia, to put a face on the real-life reforms and make them seem less like the exception and more like the rule. And Al-Mansour, with an original script co-written with her husband Brad Niemann, well knows that creating complicated characters forced to navigate tricky situations is more compelling than a heavy-handed sermon to a largely Western audience whose understanding of the Saudi cultural context rarely extends beyond honor killings and the merits of the hijab. That is to say, what Westerners know about Saudi is often skewed or incomplete. As the last film in Al-Mansour’s trilogy, “Unidentified” turns up the heat, making a decided turn into genre filmmaking — the murder mystery — where there’s room (finally) for Saudi women to be villainous.

Mila Al-Zahrani, as the lead character Noelle, ably delivers a deeply grounded performance, embodying her steely will and relentless pursuit of the girl’s killer, paired with her ever-present stylish black leather bag. Spurred on by her obsession with the videos of an influencer who combines makeup tutorials with true crime distillations, she uses gender roles to her advantage, getting closer to the women in the victim’s orbit than any policeman could in this observant Muslim country.

Still, the stakes could’ve been amplified: every time Noelle disobeys the orders of her father-like police sergeant, Majid (Shafi Al-Harthi, who also appeared in “Wadjda”), she receives little blowback. As she gets very close to solving the case, beyond the subtle eerie noise in Noelle’s apartment on the top floor of her building, intimidation by the killer surfaces too late in the story, muting the viewer’s sense of her being in danger. There is a big twist at the end, that one doesn’t see coming, which impresses. The surprise is clever, but undercuts its emotional impact by arriving without sufficient setup.

If the only way this film distinguishes itself is in its ability to humanize and complicate flat depictions and erasure of Saudi women, that is no small feat. Many different types of women surround Noelle as she attempts to identify the Jane Doe: rebellious teenagers, school principals, widows who value tradition, entrepreneurs, a police officer at her station, even the medical coroner who lets her inspect the body for clues. That kind of intentionality around the ability of fictional narratives to change concrete realities — the ability to visually imagine change — creates a living, breathing empathy “machine,” to borrow Roger Ebert’s phrase. Al-Mansour not only reminds us that movies are supposed to generate empathy, she shows us precisely how.

“As women from the Middle East, we are often portrayed as victims with no agency. That’s not the full picture. Arab women have sass, hustle, and complexity,” continued Al-Mansour at the post-screening Q&A. “Life in the Middle East can be harsh and demoralizing, and women are a part of that reality too. But we’re not always innocent angels. We don’t always need to be the moral backbone of a society; we can be flawed, conflicted, and problematic.”

In “Unidentified,” women are good, women are bad, and women are everything in between. In a society where a woman’s death can easily go unnoticed, this film makes sure the audience pays attention.

Grade: B+

“Unidentified” premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival. Sony Pictures Classics will release it at a later date.

"The Smashing Machine" Puts Dwayne Johnson in the Oscars Conversation

“The Smashing Machine” Puts Dwayne Johnson in the Oscars Conversation

by jummy84 September 9, 2025
written by jummy84

The Rock as an Oscar nominee? It’s time to get used to the idea.

When Dwayne Johnson broke down in uncontrollable sobs during a 15-minute standing ovation at the Venice International Film Festival, it became more than an emotional premiere moment for the wrestler-turned-actor. It signaled the potential birth of one of the unlikeliest Oscar contenders in recent memory, as his transformative turn in Benny Safdie’s moving “The Smashing Machine” could reshape how Hollywood views one of its most bankable stars.

Johnson’s plays former amateur wrestler and MMA fighter Mark Kerr in A24’s emotionally devastating drama, representing the kind of career pivot that Academy voters have historically embraced, and one the cinematic world may be excited to watch unfold. With Safdie taking home Silver Lion for directing at Venice, the buzz is growing louder surrounding Johnson’s vulnerable turn as the troubled athlete. Now, bowing at the Toronto Film Festival, the 54-year-old performer stands at the precipice of a career-defining moment, and one he has sought for quite some time.

Comparisons to Mickey Rourke’s Oscar-nominated turn in Darren Aronofsky’s “The Wrestler” (2008) are inevitable and apt. Both films center on fighters grappling with physical deterioration and personal demons. Where Rourke drew from his boxing background, Johnson taps into something rawer and psychologically complex. Working with two-time Oscar winner Kazu Hiro (“Bombshell” and “Darkest Hour”), Johnson undergoes a physical transformation that erases any thought of a WWE star in costume. In fact, he could even position himself as this year’s Brendan Fraser, whose makeup-assisted turn in “The Whale” earned both acting and technical Oscars, likewise for an actor who was thought of as an unlikely awards contender.

Emily Blunt, an Oscar nominee for “Oppenheimer” (2023) delivers an effortless turn as Kerr’s girlfriend Dawn Staples, a woman battling her own addiction while desperately trying to support her partner as he aspires for greatness. Blunt’s presence elevates the film, providing Johnson with the kind of formidable acting partner that often strengthens awards-season narratives. “She’s one of my greatest inspirations,” Johnson tells Variety for an upcoming interview regarding Blunt, with whom he previously co-starred in “Jungle Cruise.”

We often forget about some of Hollywood’s grand traditions of A-list celebrities reinventing themselves as serious dramatic actors. Cher transitioned from hit singer and variety show host to an Oscar winner with “Moonstruck” (1987) after her first nom for “Silkwood” (1983). Stand-up comedian Mo’Nique stunned audiences, and voters, with her undeniable supporting actress run in “Precious” (2008); and Jonah Hill went from the foul-mouthed kid in “Superbad” (2007) to working with the likes of auteurs Bennett Miller and Martin Scorsese, who steered him to two noms for “Moneyball” (2010) and “The Wolf of Wall Street” (2013).

More recently, Ariana Grande scored a supporting actress nomination for “Wicked,” while Adam Sandler, once dismissed as a comedy box office star, is in the awards conversation for Noah Baumbach’s “Jay Kelly.” Johnson’s journey from WWE superstar to potential Academy Award nominee now looks like the next evolution in that narrative.

To put it simply: not only could Johnson get an Oscar nomination, he could also be the future best actor winner as well.

A24’s involvement provides confidence, given its track record with past unconventional best picture winners like “Moonlight” (2016) and “Everything Everywhere All at Once” (2022). But the indie powerhouse faces a unique challenge this year: balancing “The Smashing Machine” campaign with his his brother Josh Safdie’s upcoming “Marty Supreme,” starring Timothée Chalamet. We’ve seen siblings nominated before. The Redgrave sisters (Lynn and Vanessa) competed for best actress nominations in 1966 for “Georgy Girl” and “Morgan!”

However, no siblings have ever competed against each other in the directing category. Balancing the campaigns for both films without compromising either’s potential is a challenge A24 will need to navigate carefully throughout awards season

“The Smashing Machine” appears well-positioned for multiple noms beyond Johnson’s work. Hiro’s transformative makeup seems destined for recognition, particularly given the Academy’s recent appreciation for physical reinvention. The film’s technical craftsmanship — from cinematography (Maceo Bishop) to original score (Nala Sinephro) to Safdie’s direction, screenplay, editing and producing (looking to repeat Sean Baker’s four noms last year for “Anora” — for which he won all four).

Blunt could emerge as a strong supporting actress contender, in a category that hasn’t presented a standout frontrunner yet, and could pair nicely with Johnson’s big run. It also further bolsters the film’s profile across multiple categories.

The film also stars real-life fighters Ryan Bader, Bas Rutten and Oleksandr Usyk, which adds authenticity to the film’s tone.

Johnson’s candidacy represents a signal to Hollywood’s willingness to expand its definition of who belongs in the Oscar conversation. Just as the Academy has embraced streaming platforms and international cinema, Johnson’s recognition would show its openness to performers once confined to the blockbuster space.

Sean Durkin’s “The Iron Claw,” despite Zac Efron’s career-best work, was ignored by the Academy, showing the risks inherent in sports dramas. But “The Smashing Machine’s” acclaimed reception and A24’s savvy campaigning may set it on a different trajectory.

Will the Oscars smell what “The Rock” is cooking? Audiences will get their answer when “The Smashing Machine” hits theaters on Oct. 3.

Oscar-Winning Harry Potter Production Designer

by jummy84 September 9, 2025
written by jummy84

Stuart Craig, a UK production designer and art director who won Oscars for his work on The English Patient, Dangerous Liaisons and Gandhi, died September 7. He was 83.

Craig’s passing was confirmed via the British Film Designers Guild, which posted a message from BFDG member Neil Lamont on Facebook.

“It is with great sadness that I report that my friend and mentor, Production Designer Stuart Craig, passed away last night, 7th September 2025 aged 83, following a long battle with Parkinson’s disease,” wrote Lamont. “Stuart was the UK’s and, most probably, cinemas most-revered film designer … a true giant!”

Craig’s early credits include The Elephant Man, Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes, Cry Freedom, Chaplin and The Secret Garden. He won his first Oscar in 1983 for Gandhi, and his second in 1989 for Dangerous Liaisons.

In 1997, he won his third Oscar for The English Patient, where he met Lamont.

DEADLINE RELATED VIDEO:

“Stuart and I first worked together on The English Patient, flying to Tunis to join him was one of the most important days of my career,” he wrote. “Straight out of the airport, on a recce of a local derelict, ruined building, 40 degrees, nervous, and I probably did one of the poorest surveys ever on a location. It turned out that we, subsequently, found better places. The experiences I had on this film, not only allowed me to see Stuart’s talent, his beautiful sketches, pencil drawings and vision, but also the way which he conducted himself in all walks of life, in the studio, the car, restaurants. A true gentleman, with grace, kindness and humility.”

Craig would go on to serve as production designer on all of the Harry Potter films and the Fantastic Beasts trilogy.

“I bet that anyone you ask, ‘which designer would you like to work with the most,’ the answer 100% would be Stuart Craig,” wrote Lamont. “Anyone who met him will remember their encounter forever.”

‘The Terminal List: Dark Wolf’: Tom Hopper Explains Psychological Perils

by jummy84 September 8, 2025
written by jummy84

[This story contains spoilers from The Terminal List: Dark Wolf.]

Navy SEAL brother and loyal friend Raife Hastings, played by Tom Hopper, quickly surmises there are no brakes applied regarding his team brother, Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitsch), in the fourth episode of Prime Video’s prequel series Terminal List: Dark Wolf.

In “The Sound of the Guns,” Edwards has already broken his promise to his brother-in-arms that the takedown of Iraqi assassin-for-hire Danawi would be enough to get some type of revenge for killing their Iraqi sergeant and asset in Mosul (during the first episode), and then move on with their dishonorable discharged lives. But now the audience has discovered that the two former SEALS are in even deeper with black ops agent Jed Haverford (Robert Wisdom) and his team, as they plan to stop a multimillion-dollar deal that will help put Iran closer to its goal of developing their own nuclear weapons. Hastings is not feeling it, and he can see that Edwards is even more enthralled to go along for the espionage ride, instead of their original agreement to kill Danawi and move on.

Haverford has assembled his team, which includes Edwards and Hastings, in Germany to intercept the handoff of the real bearings in exchange for giving Iran fake ones. But the plan goes severely awry when Hastings’ and Edwards’ planned ambush of the convoy is interrupted by German intelligence officers in a surprise attack, leaving their members wounded and in need of a retreat. And then there is one big betrayal by a Haverford team members that adds even more peril to the surprised ambush. Who saw this coming? Hastings did, of course.

Hastings seems to have a sixth sense that all is not what it appears in the world of black ops, but he is loyal to his SEAL brother and will ride out this dangerous game until Edwards hopefully comes to his senses and says he has had enough. It’s becoming clear, however, that Edwards has found his element, even if Hastings has not.

The Hollywood Reporter recently caught up with British Game of Thrones actor Hopper to talk more in depth about his Raife Hastings, how he operates in a world of war, what loyalty looks like among Navy SEAL brothers and which is harder: SEAL training or defying a queen and her fire-breathing dragon?

***

I have to ask: Which was harder, being consumed in flames by a dragon [Hopper’s Dickon Tarly, son of Randyll Tarly, refused to bend the knee to the Dragon Queen on Game of Thrones], or training as a Navy Seal and CIA operative for this Terminal List prequel series?

(Laughs.) The stunt guys did a lot of the work for being burned by a dragon, and a lot of that was CGI. So that was a lot easier. The work you put in to be a Navy SEAL is much more in depth. I would be remiss to not say anything about the amount of work that those guys put in to make us look authentic. It’s a constant state of making sure we were doing the right thing on Terminal List to be a legitimate Navy SEAL. So I would have to give it to the Navy SEALs.

Would it be safe to say that Raife Hastings was already connected to the CIA in some way before he and Edwards got kicked out and involved in the espionage business throughout Europe?

Well, actually, Raife is not linked to them at all really. He is very aware of the agency because they had operations where he’s from in Mozambique, and he has seen his family go through some tough times; they used to operate with the CIA and his dad was in the South African Special Forces. So there’s an awareness, but he is certainly not involved with them.

What are some similar personality traits that you share with Hastings? And how are you two different?

He’s certainly much calmer in those crazy heightened situations than I would be. Raife’s nickname is “Mtulivu,” which means “the calm one” [in Swahili]. He always has this very cool head in any situation. No matter how crazy the firefight is, he’s able to keep a cool head for his men around him and deliver information to keep them safe in a very calm manner, which is what he is known for. I’m not as calm, but Jared Shaw is one of our executive producers and one of the [former] Navy SEALs who teaches all of us how to operate accordingly and authentically, and I take a lot from Jared for Raife. Jared has a constant calmness about how crazy the day is. No matter how crazy the action is, he’s got this cool head. I take a lot of inspiration from the way he is in situations.

But our similarities, like Raife, I’m incredibly loyal. We are extremely loyal to our brothers; anyone who I consider a teammate I will do anything for. I will throw myself in front of a bus for people like my family, my children and my wife. They are my day-to-day team, and my extended family, I’ll do anything for them. And that’s who Raife is. He considers the brothers around him like family. Tthe way he operates with his teammates is who I could relate to.

What drew you to the role of Hastings?

There were a few things. I was a big fan of the books. I had come across Jack Carr [Terminal List author] previously in the years before; so I was a big fan of the books and Jack’s work. I think what’s so special about Terminal List is the group of people behind it; the authenticity that comes with it and the challenge of our show. What we do on Terminal List is so huge and the show is so ambitious, I sometimes wonder how we do what we’ve done in the time frames and resources we have available. It’s incredible! What I always look for in anything I’m doing, in terms of a job, is my next big challenge. And this is a huge challenge for me.

Because they had the books, and because the character is already kind of established with the fanbase from the books, it was a huge responsibility for me to adhere to that and make sure I’m doing him justice. Raife is a popular character; so, for me to go on there and deliver him as a live-action character was extremely important and a challenge I relished. I only hope I’ve done it justice for the fans of the books.

Raife Hastings (Tom Hopper) and Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitsch), left, in The Terminal List: Dark Wolf.

Prime Video

What were some of the toughest scenes to shoot, physically or mentally, that made you realize all over again why you love what you do as an actor?

The physical stuff, I always find that’s a little bit more less tiring; you keep more energy up when you’re doing the physical stuff. The psychologically straining stuff is more demanding, like taking your mental state to a very dark place.

Some of the scenes I have to do, where there’s a torture element to the show, one of the things I like about Raife’s character is that he is not fundamentally like that, but he’s able to take himself there. And that’s what’s so beautiful about some of these SEALs — they are not like those people, but there’s a side to them that, if they need to, if they have to, if the moment requires it and the job requires it, they can go to the darkest places you could imagine as a human. That is what Raife seems to do, it’s that switch between dark wolf and light wolf. If you’re a light wolf, you’re able to walk around civilian life and be a very humble, normal nice person. When you need to turn on that dark wolf, you are able to turn that switch.

And those scenes are challenging because you have to take yourself, as the actor, to that place. Jared was so instrumental in that for me because he would come and talk in my ear quietly when I had to get to that place and talk me through it. And as an actor, that’s the challenge to go there mentally and take yourself where they would have to get to, and to play that out authentically.

Do you think Hastings or Ewards begin to feel a sense of disloyalty to each other in their brotherhood as the series carries on?

Well, there’s a gray area. I don’t think either of them were disloyal to each other. I think they approach the mission from a very different standpoint. Raife says something that is very important for that relationship,: “Some men will go to war to fight the enemy, and others will go to war to fight themselves.” I think the reason Ben is fighting this is because he’s fighting something greater. He wants to go and fight because he’s fighting something deeper and he’s convincing himself he’s fighting for that right cause. Raife just sees it differently: This is not what we signed up in the teams for, thi  is something deeper and something that I’m not interested in fighting — this is not our fight. We’re being used as pawns in a much bigger chess game here.

It’s like a marriage, right? When you’re looking at a problem and you’re trying to keep it together, but you’re both trying to fix it from a completely different avenue. It’s going to fall apart. That’s what this is, it is two warriors fighting for very different reasons.

I know you will be working on the next season of Terminal List, what else is on your plate?

There are a few things. One of the things that I just finished, which will be coming out next year, is a movie called Better, which myself and my wife, Laura [TK], produced with our producing partners, Dash Productions. It’s a thriller where I play identical twins. Talk about challenges! When I read that script, it was like, “This is what I want to do next!” We just wrapped on that and it was a huge challenge, but one that came off brilliantly. We were really pleased with how the movie turned out, and I think audiences will love it.

And we’re right in the middle of shooting Terminal List, the second season.

Football meets food! Rams star Davante Adams celebrating the start of football season by hosting the ultimate house party.

The wide receiver teamed up with Taco Bell to debut Davante’s House, an immersive
experience that brought his crib to SoFi Stadium in honor of his new home in Los Angeles, California.

Tens of thousands of fans at the Rams vs. Texans game came knocking on his front door, marked 1717, a nod to Adams’ jersey number, before exploring his front yard, complete with a putting green and Taco Bell golf cart.

Inside, partygoers toured a room decked out with the athlete’s memorabilia, filled with his iconic helmets, jerseys awards, and game balls.

Attendees then made their way to living room, where they visited a Taco Bell counter before kicking back on a cozy couch to watch the game on a flat screen television.

Adams’ walk-in closet was also on display, stocked with pieces from his own personal wardrobe collection, plus limited-edition purple house slippers so guests could make themselves at home too.

Coronation Street newcomer teases Becky Swain’s “dark side” after fake death bombshell

Returning home after being out all night, Betsy played along as Lisa, her fiancée Carla Connor (Alison King) and Carla’s nephew Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) showered her with gifts.

But before long, Betsy insisted on meeting some friends, giving Lisa the cold shoulder but looking clearly unsettled about something.

In the precinct, Betsy left a message for Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne), who she’d just told her mum she had spent the night with.

In the midst of leaving Lisa a voicemail of apology, Betsy clocked a car coming towards her and let out a scream, calling her mum in a panic as Lisa and Carla raced to the scene.

Betsy was shaken up but physically unharmed, but Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) had been struck by the car after it swerved.

Viewers know that the car was driven by thieving Dylan and Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey).

Carla raised the alarm with Tyrone’s family, and his fate was left up in the air as the episode came to a close.

Meanwhile, Lisa comforted Betsy and they shared a heart-to-heart about Becky’s absence on the teen’s milestone birthday, before Betsy headed out for a walk.

Alone in the house, Lisa was reeling as Becky suddenly walked in to greet her, and now, with Amy Cudden revealed to be playing Becky, the actress has shed some light on her character in her first interview shared with RadioTimes.com.

“My agent called and said they liked me but that the character was complicated and they wanted me to try a scene showing a different side to her,” shared Cudden.

“I had another chemistry read with Ali and Sydney in the back room of the Rovers Return.”

“This was more intimidating with a full camera crew. It explored a darker side of the character and the chemistry with the two other significant people she’d be interacting with.”

Expanding on Becky’s backstory, the star added: “A key piece of information was that she didn’t receive much care when she was younger and wanted to leave home as quickly as possible.

“This helped me lean into her independence, resilience, and toughness. I think she’s bright, capable at her job (when her passionate nature doesn’t get the better of her), and she adores her wife and child, who are the most important things to her.”

With Becky still in love with Lisa, who struggled with her grief for some time before moving into a solid relationship with Carla, Cudden has teased just what Becky thinks of Carla.

“It was dangerous for Becky to return before, but her primary objective is to be with her wife and daughter. While there wasn’t a direct threat to that central family unit, she kept her distance,” she explained.

“Now that Carla is a clear threat and Lisa and Carla are deeply in love, Becky feels she must return to try and reclaim her family even if that puts her at risk.”

For those worried that Becky will disrupt the happiness of the newly-engaged ‘Swarla’, Cudden revealed: “I agree with fans who might be furious to see someone come in and disrupt one of the most beautiful on-screen relationships. It’s unconscionable, and they should be angry.”

However, she hinted that Becky’s presence won’t necessarily destroy everything.

“However, it’s such a complicated relationship that other feelings will emerge as it unfolds. Things forged in fire only get stronger. Becky is a “spanner in the works,” but it doesn’t necessarily mean the worst, though it will be very difficult.”

Pictures show the moment that Carla walks in on Becky as she tries to explain all to Lisa, and viewers can find out how Lisa reacts when Coronation Street continues on Friday 12th September from 6am on ITVX and at 8pm on ITV.

On your mark, get set, bake! It has been 15 years since we’ve first entered the Great British Bake Off tent. And much like in the Showstopper Rounds, time has flown by.

The Great British Bake Off (or Baking Show for Americans on Netflix) has become the go-to amateur baking competition since it debuted in the U.K. on August 17, 2010. Every week, bakers take on a theme or skill in three rounds: Signature Bake, Technical Bake, and the Showstopper Bake. The group is whittled down each week until one is crowned the U.K.’s Best Amateur Baker and awarded the coveted cake glass stand. The show has captured the hearts of viewers in the U.K. and beyond, including a strong following in the United States, thanks to its partnership with Netflix.

To celebrate this milestone anniversary, let’s take a look at where all 15 winners are now.
