Rock Hall Ceremony Adds Chappell, Donald Glover

by jummy84 October 30, 2025
written by jummy84

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony just got a lot more crowded. Ahead of the Nov. 8 extravaganza in Los Angeles, 17 additional presenters and performers have been confirmed, including Chappell Roan, the Killers, Donald Glover, Jim Carrey, Avril Lavigne and Janelle Monáe.

The list is rounded out by Bryan Adams, En Vogue, Feist, Gina Schock, Hurby Luv Bug Azor, Aerosmith’s Joe Perry, the Revolution’s Lisa Coleman, Mick Fleetwood, Heart’s Nancy Wilson, Nathaniel Rateliff and Tedeschi Trucks Band. Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell and the Pretty Reckless’ Taylor Momsen are expected to perform with Soundgarden, based on rehearsal photos from drummer Matt Cameron on Instagram.

Roan will induct Cyndi Lauper, saying yesterday on social media that the artist “has inspired me with her fashion and her hair, and of course, her makeup, her music. I actually auditioned with ‘True Colors’ for America’s Got Talent when I was 13. I didn’t make it, but the song is still incredible. I’m so excited. Thanks for having me.”

Beyond Soundgarden and Lauper, this year’s induction class is comprised of Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Outkast and the White Stripes. The event will be streamed live on Disney+. Next-day viewing will be available on Hulu, with an ABC special to follow on Jan. 1.

Among the previously announced performers and presenters are Beck, Brandi Carlile, David Letterman, Doja Cat, Elton John, Flea, Iggy Pop, J.I.D, Killer Mike, Maxwell, Missy Elliott, Olivia Rodrigo, Questlove, Raye, Sleepy Brown, Teddy Swims and Twenty One Pilots.

Outside the core inductions, Salt-N-Pepa and the late Warren Zevon will receive the Musical Influence Award, while hit-making R&B producer Thom Bell and studio musicians Nicky Hopkins and Carol Kaye will be honored with the Musical Excellence Award. The Ahmet Ertegun Award for impactful, non-performing industry professionals will be presented to former Warner Bros. Records president/DreamWorks co-founder Lenny Waronker.

Nintendo Announces New The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Soundtrack Box Set

written by jummy84

Nintendo has announced a new box set celebrating the soundtrack of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. In addition to answering many Zelda fans’ requests to own the music on vinyl, the box set also marks the first time the infamously strict Nintendo has ever released a physical soundtrack for sale in the United States. The 8xLP box set is out June 19, via Nintendo and Laced. Check out the tracklist and artwork below.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild soundtrack is available to pre-order as a 8xLP box set and a 2xLP set. The former goes all out, with blue and gold splatter vinyl, archival artwork on each sleeve, and a blue rigid board slipcase. All 130 specially mastered tracks are in the box set, covering the scope of the game’s soundtrack as composed by Manaka Kataoka, Yasuaki Iwata, Hajime Wakai, and Soshi Abe.

Prior to now, Nintendo has released its video game soundtracks on vinyl only in Japan. Nintendo Switch players with an Online membership have access to Nintendo Music, too, which is the company’s app to stream the soundtracks and songs from Nintendo games.

Revisit the Sunday Review of Koji Kondo’s classic score for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

jasmine.4.t’s teams up with Jacob Alon for ‘Find Ur Ppl’ from charity compilation for ‘The Ally Coalition’

by jummy84 October 30, 2025
written by jummy84

jasmine.4.t’s has teamed up with Jacob Alon for ‘Find Ur Ppl’ from charity compilation for ‘The Ally Coalition’ – listen below.

The forthcoming charity compilation, ‘All Things Go: 10 Years’, today (October 29) revealed jasmine.4.t’s ‘Find Ur Ppl’ featuring Alon. The full compilation will be released November 7th via Futures with all proceeds benefitting The Ally Coalition.

The compilation also includes Kesha, Maren Morris, Rachel Chinouriri, Medium Build, Bartees Strange, Maude Latour, Joy Oladokun, EMEI and more. It will be available digitally and on limited edition vinyl + CD. You can pre-order here.

Speaking about the new track, jasmine.4.t said: “‘Find Ur Ppl’ is a song I wrote a few years ago, early in my transition. This was when I first moved to Manchester and met my community, including my best friend Yulia Trot aka YBT, who put me up on her sofa and supported me in presenting as a woman for the first time.”

Jasmine.4.t also went on to reveal that Yulia is currently being held in prison as one of the Filton 24, who are alleged to have broken into an Israeli weapons factory in the UK.

Jasmine.4.t continued: “We recorded Find Ur Ppl originally for You Are The Morning (YBT Deluxe), an extended version of my debut record which is dedicated to Yulia. It means the world to me to release this new version of the song which features my friend (and recent Mercury Prize nominee!) Jacob Alon, who is a member of the queer community and very much one of the people I was hoping to find when I wrote this song.

“Their voice and their writing is so beautiful and I have been lucky enough to catch them live several times this year. Their voice brings so much to this song, and collaborating with them was really a dream come true.”

You can listen to it here:

Speaking to NME earlier this year, Jasmine.4.t – real name Jasmine Cruickshank – opened up about her love of Boygenius, signing to Phoebe Bridgers’ record label and touring with Lucy Dacus.

“There were so many incredible moments of watching how much they love and respect each other,” Cruickshank recalled of Boygenius. “I want to make music for the rest of my life with those guys. I fucking love those guys so much. They all brought such incredibly different things to the studio. Phoebe is so incredible at harmony and the craft of a song, the performance and was giving me such good notes.

“Lucy has the biggest impact on the editing of the lyrics and helping with the performance. Julien [Baker] brought so much with the guitar and I could never do that by myself.”

Alon meanwhile, spoke to NME recently about their Mercury Prize nomination, as well as the magical world of debut album ‘In Limerance’, working with Dan Carey, and their close friendship with Kae Tempest.

  • READ MORE: Jacob Alon is making fantastical, vulnerable folk music

The Scottish art-folk star caught up with NME on the red carpet at the announcement of the Mercury Prize 2025 shortlist last month (Wednesday September 10).

“It packs a punch,” Alon told NME of their record. “There’s this thing called The Dictionary Of Obscure Sorrows, and it has these words that describe these very specific feelings. This isn’t in there, but it feels akin to that vibe. It describes this thing that I’ve done my whole life: the way that I’ve longed for versions of people that aren’t real, I’ve become infatuated and obsessed with the idea of someone rather than seeing them for who they truly are.

“It can become a sickness and take over your every waking thought. It traps you from really knowing someone and experiencing love.”

Alon is on tour throughout the autumn and winter. Visit here for tickets and more information.

Pierre Robert, Voice of Philadelphia Rock Radio, Dead at 70

by jummy84 October 30, 2025
written by jummy84

Pierre Robert, the voice of Philadelphia rock radio for 44 years as a DJ on 93.3 WMMR, died Wednesday. His agent confirmed his death to Rolling Stone. Robert was 70.

On the air from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Monday through Friday, Robert — pronounced Ro-bear — was part of the fabric of Philadelphia. He was a colorful, ubiquitous figure, known for his long hair and gray beard and the welcoming way he saluted callers: “Great day in the morning!” His daily time on the air was punctuated by hearty laughs, self-deprecating jokes about his disregard for time (he was perpetually late, on “Pierre Standard Time”) and wafer-thin sports knowledge (to Robert, every Philly team was “the boys in blue”), and a playlist that, even in the era of corporate radio, took musical risks.

Born William Pierre Robert in California in 1955, he cut his teeth on a San Francisco progressive rock station before ultimately heading east. In 1981, he joined WMMR in Philadelphia, where he worked until his death. Robert, true to his roots, was a passionate fan of the Grateful Dead, but he was an especially unwavering champion of hometown bands in Philadelphia, New Jersey, and the surrounding area, regardless of their level of fame. His playlists included locally grown artists like Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Hall & Oates, the Hooters, and his beloved Beru Revue.

“He didn’t care if you were the fad or the fashion of the moment. He just cared,” Jon Bon Jovi wrote in tribute to Robert on Instagram.

“What made him so great is that he truly cared about the music,” the band the Offspring wrote about Robert on social media. “He was first and foremost a music fan, and his listeners knew it, because they saw him in the pit with them. Just as we were honored to see him in the pit at our shows.”

Along with his noon “workforce blocks” — a cluster of songs by the same artist — Robert also schooled listeners on rock & roll history, especially of the local kind, in his “On This Day” segment. Deep diving into the concert calendar, he’d list off who was playing where in Philly on that particular date. It was a way of preserving the past and honoring those who came before, a hallmark of Robert’s broadcasting style.

Editor’s picks

The centerpiece of Robert’s on-air year came every December, with his annual Christmas Eve show. It was an hours-long marathon of holiday songs, both traditional and rock-based, peppered with copious amounts of Christmas-themed audio snippets. Jackie Gleason’s monologue in the yuletide episode of The Honeymooners was played regularly, along with Cheech & Chong’s “Santa Clause and His Old Lady,” and a corny bit known to loyal listeners as “The Jaguar.”

The throughline for Robert, however, was yet again the local. He played Beru Revue’s live Christmas medley; Philly songwriter Alan Mann’s “Christmas on the Block,” about blind children who decorate their home; and a montage of heartwarming lyrics welcoming former Delaware Valley residents back home.

Trending Stories

For Philly listeners, Robert’s voice was just that: home.

“His voice helped the hungry and the homeless, and he did it because he cared. About you, about me, about making the world a little kinder wonder filled place to live,” Bon Jovi wrote. “His memory will live with us as it will with all of the people he touched. That man is Pierre Robert. The legendary DJ.”

Reneé Rapp Postpones Final Two Dates of Bite Me Tour Citing Illness

UPDATE: Reneé Rapp has moved the concert set for Wednesday night (Oct. 29) in Charlotte, North Carolina, to next week, on Nov. 7. “As of right now, I still don’t have a voice,” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “I’m recovering slowly but not in a place where I am able to perform safely … at my hometown show- I am so sorry and heartbroken that I have to postpone.”

PREVIOUSLY: Reneé Rapp has been criss-crossing North America for the past month on her headlining Bite Me tour. But over the weekend, the singer and former Sex Lives of College Girls star had to pump the brakes on two planned late-tour dates on doctor’s orders.

“In my career I have never had to do this before — but I have to reschedule tonight and tomorrow’s shows,” she wrote on Sunday on her Instagram Story of the gig originally planned for Sunday (Oct. 26) at State Farm Arena in Atlanta and another scheduled for Monday (Oct 27) at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Fla. “I’ve been pushing through an illness but my body has finally given out. My doctors have told me that it isn’t safe to perform due to the need for vocal rest and physical recovery” she added.

Rapp told fans that the Tampa show will now take place on Nov. 4 and the Atlanta stop has been pushed to Nov. 5. All original tickets will be honored for the new dates. In the meantime, Rapp said, the show scheduled for the Spectrum Centre in Charlotte, N.C. on Wednesday (Oct. 29) is still scheduled to move forward as planned.

“I truly appreciate how much time, planning and preparation goes into coming to a show,” Rapp wrote. “I can’t describe to you how sorry I am to have to move things around. I love you all and I will see you soon.”

After the final three North American dates, Rapp will be back on the road in early 2026 for a European swing that is slated to kick off on March 11 at Lotto Arena in Antwerp, Belgium and keep her on the road through a March 22 show at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland.

Billboard’s Live Music Summit will be held in Los Angeles on Nov. 3. For tickets and more information click here.

With Ashes and Diamonds Daniel Ash Carries on His Bauhaus Legacy » PopMatters

by jummy84 October 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Some people are fortunate enough to play in one successful band; Daniel Ash managed to be in two. Following the dissolution of gothic rock band Bauhaus, Ash and brothers Kevin Haskins & David J founded Love and Rockets in 1985. This trio embodied a slicker sound than the more arty Bauhaus, and Ash has continued to pursue his artistry with his latest group, Ashes and Diamonds.

Ash has formed a band with percussionist Bruce Smith, of Public Image Ltd. fame, and bassist Paul Spencer Denman [Sade]. In some ways, this is a supergroup, but the intention is to keep the album “honest” sounding. Fittingly, their debut record is called Ashes and Diamonds Are Forever.

“I’m all over the place,” the guitarist chuckles. “My mum’s half-French, half-Belgian, and my dad’s English. I’ve lived here in the United States since 1994; do you notice an accent?” It is admittedly more transatlantic than British. “I notice it when I go back,” he laughs. “And I jump into a cab. They say to me: ‘Are you from America?’ I go: ‘Northampton!’ But I very much still sound English in the States still!”

He’s wearing spectacles, but beyond those rock furnishings, he comes across as a humble musician. “I don’t believe in jam sessions,” he admits, discussing the beginnings of Ashes and Diamonds Are Forever. “Now, I would get drum loops and a bassline from Paul [Spencer Denman] and Bruce [Smith]. We did most of this album independently because we live in different parts of the country. Bruce lives on the East Coast, I live on the West; so does Paul.”

He coughs and continues: “So they’d send me stuff, and I’d get the headphones on. I used this cut-up method that William Burroughs used, as did David Bowie. I’d get a bunch of headlines from tacky magazines: The Sun, The National Enquirer. All the gossip mags! They’d have all the best headlines, so I’d cut them up and put them on the kitchen table [while] listening to the backing tracks. If I were lucky, I’d get a song out of it by the end of the day. All this mix and match!”

Not an uncommon method: John Lennon did something very similar on “A Day in the Life” in 1967. “Yeah, that was an example of that,” Ash nods. “‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds’ came from a painting with his kid. So, a similar idea, but I got the whole of the song from the headlines. Gets you started on something you wouldn’t usually write about.”

Was it a lengthy process? “We started this seven years ago,” he confirms. “This was started in 2017, 2018, and then COVID hit. So, we had to work independently. And at the 11th hour, we decided to scrap it and start it all again. We booked a studio in Los Angeles for ten days, and re-recorded and remixed everything. This was with a producer called Robert Stevenson.”

Another cough: “What I’m leading up to is that we had time to reflect and perfect everything. Because of that, I’m pretty much 100% on all the songs, but one track I like is ‘Ice Queen’. It’s different: not rock. I love the romantic sound of that track. The romance in it.”

Ash co-wrote the romantic number “So Alive” during the 1980s. “I wrote the lyric on that one,” he smiles. It has proven to be one of Love and Rockets’ most enduring tracks. “The situation with that track is we were going to do it the day before we were in the studio…” He splutters and pauses: “Well, on Friday, we had planned on Monday to do one of Dave’s songs. I had come up with just the riff and thought I had something special here. I had just the riff and the opening line. I said: ‘Give me half an hour.’ I went down into the cellar with a bottle of whiskey. It was a magic moment, because I got the lyrics in half an hour. With the help of a glass, or three!”

Ash joined his bandmates upstairs, where they set up and basically played that song.” Ash is reminded of Bauhaus staple “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” because both compositions were recorded quickly. “We played the song,” he confirms, “and I did a scratch vocal. And then by day two, we got the backing singers in. The whole thing was mixed and produced in 24 hours!”

He denies that the intention was to write a contrast to Bauhaus. “If you think about that track, it’s in the same vein as Lou Reed‘s ‘Walk on the Wild Side’. We didn’t plan it that way initially, but as I say, I was coming up from writing the lyric, and everyone locked in real-quick. We all agreed it needed female backing singers like ‘Walk on the Wild Side’. We got three girls in on backing, but you know, when you’re writing a song, you don’t know where it’s going to go.”

Morale was high in the studio. “David [J] and I were joking,” he giggles. “We said: ‘If ‘So Alive’ isn’t a hit, we quit.’” Ash says that the record company in America printed promos boasting that the album [their eponymous fourth] contained the hit ‘So Alive’. “That’s how confident they were,” he grins. It grossed the top position on the Billboard Modern Rock Charts in 1989.

Returning to Bauhaus, were they compared to Joy Division? “Yeah, because of the similarity in the vocals,” Ash agrees, suggesting that Peter Murphy and Ian Curtis shared a resonance. Curiously, both bands formed sequel outfits with the lead guitarist promoted to lead singer. “I never put that together,” Ash says. “Like New Order, yeah. Love and Rockets certainly sounds different to Bauhaus.”

He suggests that Tones on Tail, a band he formed with drummer Kevin Haskins in 1982 (revived in 2024), sounded different “again”. Ash pauses: “Are you familiar with Tones on Tail?” Pop is a fine exploration of textures. “That was the one album we made,” Ash says. “Kevin’s daughter Diva [Dompé] joined us in 2017 for Poptone. We called ourselves that because we covered Love and Rockets, Tones on Tail, and Bauhaus. We were a covers band, but covering ourselves, which was fun, but for the Cruel World gig that Tones on Tail played in 2024, Diva played bass on that.”

Returning to Bauhaus, some of the tunes, notably “Bela Lugosi’s Dead”, are soaked in reggae imprints. “Well, actually more Kevin, David, and me,” Ash replies. “I don’t think Peter was so into the reggae at that point [August 1979.] It was a mixture of various influences. You can’t really pinpoint…”

He realizes there is a yarn here. “I had this riff,” he elaborates. “This haunting riff: using open tuning. I was talking to Dave on the phone the night before we recorded that song. I said: ‘I have this real haunting riff.’ ‘That’s really funny,’ he said, ‘I’ve got this lyric about the vampire Bela Lugosi.’When we got into the rehearsal studio, I started playing, and Kevin started doing this bossa nova beat. David started on bass and handed the lyrics to Peter. He started singing it pretty much as you hear it, so again, real quick.”

Acknowledging the reggae influence, the guitarist points out that there is “bossa-nova beat there.” As a teenager/young man in the 1970s, Daniel Ash was struck by British glam rock. “I was brought up, you know, the big thing that hit me at 15 years old was the Ziggy Stardust thing,” he confesses. “Life-altering. That, and T-Rex. Iggy & the Stooges. That’s basically all I listened to at the time.”

Ash had an older sibling who was “into the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Kinks,” so this guitarist was exposed to older influences. “My two favorite guitar players are Hendrix and Mick Ronson,” he admits. “I’m not really into lots of shredding, so the Ronson thing was a big influence.”

Was he taken with Queen? “No, that’s different,” he replies. “It’s a little bit like Kiss in America; not the same thing.”

Ashes and Diamonds feature a drummer from John Lydon‘s band Public Image Ltd. “When the Sex Pistols came out in the 1970s, that was mind-blowing. On Top of the Pops, I hadn’t seen anything this exciting the whole Ziggy thing. That’s why a lot of bands came after. Siouxsie & The Banshees, the Damned [sic], the Cure. Sex Pistols are my favorite punk band.”

Primarily a guitarist, Daniel Ash has also dabbled with the saxophone. “There’s some crazy sax on a song called ‘Champagne Charlie’ on this album [Ashes and Diamonds Are Forever],” he confirms. “A bunch of sax at the end of this album.” Bauhaus favored frenzy, as is apparent on “She’s in Parties”. “That sounds polished to me,” he laughs. “If it sounds raw, great. It doesn’t sound raw to me like Velvet Underground raw. I love Velvet Underground, and it suited them to be lo-fi. I think their third album was more of an Andy Warhol vibe; he would use the cheapest cameras, simple lighting. I think the Velvets were influenced by that.”

Reed, like bassist John Cale, had a “healthy ego”, which Ash confirms is “part and parcel of being in a band. You’ve got to have an ego to want to create in the first place, as far as I’m concerned,” Ash says. “It’s tough, but if you ain’t got an ego, you won’t create anything.” Did the pandemic inspire Ashes and Diamonds Are Forever? “It only inspired the lyric to ‘2020’,” he elaborates. “That’s the only track that had an influence. The three of us recorded long-distance initially, but when we decided to re-record it, we were all in LA with Robert. Ten days to get it all done, and we finished it at 22:00 on the tenth day. Much better to do it that way.”

“The first Bauhaus album took two weeks,” Ash admits. “We used the band Crass’s studio, and then years later, with Love and Rockets, we were getting successful.” He pauses: “Not in England, Ireland, or Europe, but the States. We ended up taking two years to make Hot Trip to Heaven. We’re still proud of it, but it was commercial suicide. I remember thinking: ‘This is either our Dark Side of the Moon, or it is going to flop’. Commercially, it bombed, but we’re still proud of it.”

It contrasted the jokes they made about Fleetwood Mac‘s protracted studio times: “We ended up taking two years on an album!” Perhaps humbled by that experience, Daniel Ash takes the time to say thank you for this interview. “If the album’s successful, and there’s interest, then we’ll look at the live level,” he continues. “But if it’s not, then there’s no point going out. It’s in the hands of the Gods. We’re open to it. There’s so much traffic every day, and it’s tough to stand out.”

He’s not a fan of AI. “The concern is that it will take over,” he sighs. “Very strange, and very weird. They will be able to come up with ten Brad Pitts, no problem. Actors are talking about protecting themselves from that happening. We will all become obsolete. I haven’t used any AI in the making of the lyrics.”

Ash admits he’s been “moaning about it” but sees some potential that it could “help the human race, but it also could completely fuck us up,” he warns. “We’re just in the infancy stage. By Christmas, we might not be able to control it. The people who have made it are concerned.”

Famke Janssen on the Madness of Amsterdam Empire: Podcast

Famke Janssen sat down with Kyle Meredith to talk about her new Netflix series Amsterdam Empire — a stylish revenge thriller set in her native Netherlands. The GoldenEye and X-Men star steps into the role of Betty, a former pop singer out to dismantle her husband’s weed-fueled coffee shop empire after a very public betrayal. The show marks Janssen’s rare return to acting in Dutch, as well as her first time serving as an executive producer and co–costume designer. “It’s one of those rare moments where everything came full circle,” she tells Meredith. Listen above or wherever you get your podcasts.

For Janssen, Betty was far more than a scorned wife. “I didn’t want her to just be this angry whirlwind of a person,” she explains. “We’ve all seen that before. I wanted the anger to be rooted in real hurt and devastation.” As executive producer, Janssen helped shape Betty into a complex, unpredictable force — one whose pain feels lived-in, not scripted. “You think she’s crazy, but she’s actually just heartbroken and trying to survive in her own eccentric way,” she says.

Janssen also threw herself into the visual side, co-designing Betty’s flamboyant wardrobe and even performing a full-blown pop video for her character’s fictional one-hit wonder. “Betty had one hit 20 years ago, and she’s been stuck there ever since,” Janssen says. “She still dresses like that girl — colorful, loud, a little childish, but full of heart.” That aesthetic wasn’t just a look; it became part of Betty’s psyche. “She wants to be seen and remembered. There’s something both tragic and wonderful about that.”

Mumford & Sons Confirm Second LP In A Year

by jummy84 October 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Less than a week after unveiling the surprise new single “Rubber Band Man” featuring Hozier and produced by the National’s Aaron Dessner, Mumford & Sons have confirmed that their second album in less than a year, Prizefigher, will arrive Feb. 13 from Glassnote.

The material came together quickly last fall at Dessner’s upstate New York studio Long Pond, but was temporarily put on hold while Mumford & Sons focused first on completing the album RUSHMERE, which was released in late March.

Dessner, who previously worked with Mumford on their chart-topping 2015 album Wilder Mind, helped secure guest appearances by Chris Stapleton, Gigi Perez and Gracie Abrams for the upcoming 14-track set.

“We feel like we’re hitting our prime as a creative force,” says Marcus Mumford. “We’re putting everything we have into this now, and we’re using everything about our experience so far to embrace exactly who we are. We’re comfortable in our skins these days. And Prizefighter is us going for it – serious and playful, sometimes bruised and always hopeful. We’re nowhere near done yet. I hope and believe and we’re in the beginning of something we don’t want to let up on. I’m more excited to be in this band than I’ve ever been.”

Mumford & Sons begin a 22-date U.K. and European tour begins Nov. 6 in Stockholm and concludes Dec. 10-11 at the O2 in London. The band will be back in the U.S. for a one-off Dec. 27 appearance at San Diego’s Wild Horses Festival, and will also play Noah Kahan’s Out of the Blue festival in Cancun in early January and the Innings Festival in Tempe, Az., in late February.

Here is the track list for Prizefighter:

“Here’”(with Chris Stapleton)
“Rubber Band Man” (with Hozier)
“The Banjo Song”
“Run Together”
“Conversation With My Son”
“Alleycat”
“Prizefighter”
“Begin Again”
“Icarus” (with Gigi Perez)
“Stay”
“Badlands” (with Gracie Abrams)

50 Cent’s A.I. Diss Track Could Mark A New Frontier In Rap Beef

by jummy84 October 29, 2025
written by jummy84

50 Cent is notorious for welcoming all challengers in petty clashes, but the mogul recently utilized a new tool for his verbal art of war: artificial intelligence.

On Tuesday (Oct. 28), 50 Cent dropped a calculated social-media salvo: he uploaded photos of himself aboard a private jet on Instagram, paired with a short clip featuring a soulful A.I.-generated song aimed at Jim Jones, with a playful dig at fellow G-Unit member Tony Yayo.

In the brief audio clip, a male-sounding A.I. vocal opens by expressing Fif’s disappointed in Yayo’s delayed response to Jim Jones, who called Yayo “broke” and criticized the rapper’s hygiene during a recent podcast interview.

“50’s mad because Yayo let Jimmy talk tough and he ain’t answer back,” the voice sings while scenes of Fif and Yayo boarding a private jet plays in the clip.

“How you let that fake blood talk to you like that/ Somebody gotta pay/ Or no more jet flights/ Back to first class,” the faux song continues, with a chorus of A.I. background vocals furthering taking additional shots at the Harlem rep.

“Jimmy ain’t tough/ Jimmy ain’t like that/ How you let that crack baby say you smoke crack.” The private-jet backdrop dramatizes the “somebody gotta pay” and “or no more jet flights” lines.

The second stanza of the track includes slick wordplay referencing Uncle Murda’s annual “Rap Up” recap, as well as calls for Cam’ron to intervene and put an end to Jones’ pointed comments.

“Murda, rap ’em up, it’s a motherf**king wrap/ Don’t make me have to get the strap/ I’m calling Cam/ Come get ‘cha mans” before the clip ends.

To fully grasp the context: the simmering discord between 50 Cent, Cam’ Ron and Jim Jones stretches back to the mid-2000s.

Cam’ Ron has publicly addressed how the original conflict manifested when Jones appeared on stage with 50 during Cam’s beef era on several occasion.

“We were having interior problems at Dipset. … So when me and [50 Cent] were battling, you had members of Dipset to come to your show,” Cam recalled during Fif’s appearance on his Talk WIth Flee podcast in December 2024.

“When ni**as went on stage, I was like, ‘This sh*t is spinning out [of control]. It was a checkmate moment,’” he admitted.

Jones would take umbrage to Cam and Fif mentioning his name during the podcast, responding on Justin LaBoy’s Respectfully podcast shortly after, sparking a drawn out back and forth between all parties involved.

Now, 50 Cent’s use of A.I. to craft a soul-song diss signals a modern evolution of his trolling strategy — merging social-media visuals, private-jet flexing and technology-driven audio to humiliate Jim Jones while aligning himself again with Cam’ Ron’s camp. The result: a next-level one-two in a decades-old New York rap war.
