Sphere’s Wizard of Oz Includes David Zaslav’s Face

by jummy84 August 29, 2025

The classic 1933 movie The Wizard of Oz is filled with famous characters, like the Cowardly Lion, the Wicked Witch of the West, and of course Dorothy Gale herself. But if you go see the new immersive version at Las Vegas’ Sphere, there will be two new faces in the crowd: Sphere Entertainment Co. CEO James Dolan and Warner Bros. Discovery’s David Zaslav.

Dolan revealed this information to press during a walkthrough of the Wizard of Oz experience, which alters the original film to fit across the mammoth Sphere screen, while trimming the length of the film to allow for more daily viewings. It also replaces the faces of two characters in the movie with the faces of Dolan and Zaslav.

“I won’t tell you where, it’s only for like two seconds,” The Hollywood Reporter quotes Dolan saying. Visual effects specialist Ben Grossmann then clarified that the original characters were uncredited and “too blurry to be identified” on screen. (Munchkins, perhaps? Or residents of the Emerald City?)

Dolan also noted to journalists that the Wizard of Oz project has gone way over budget, “getting up pretty close to that $100 million mark.” However, he added, “It was worth it.”

The use of AI to translate The Wizard of Oz to this massive screen has been controversial, as Consequence’s own Wren Graves recently explained. Yet with Wicked: For Good hitting theaters soon and a new live-action series about Dorothy in the works, L. Frank Baum’s classic stories remain in the public imagination.

Hayley Williams Reshapes 17 Singles Into Proper LP

by jummy84 August 29, 2025
written by jummy84

After surprising fans earlier this month with a drop of 17 new singles, Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams has collected the tracks into a proper album dubbed Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party. The project is available now digitally and can also be pre-ordered on vinyl ahead of a Nov. 7 release date. A limited run of 1,500 CD-R’s with 2000s-era mixtape artwork are being sold on Williams’ web site.

Before Williams confirmed the album’s running order today (Aug, 28), fans spent the past few weeks creating their own custom track lists featuring the new songs, which the artist says actually inspired her own decision on the subject. Williams also released music videos for the title track and “Glum,” the latter directed by Paramore bandmate Zac Farro.

Now including a bonus 18th song, “Parachute,” the Ego Death material was produced by Daniel James and also sports contributions from Steph Marziano, Elise Joseph James, Brian Robert Jones, Joey Howard and Jim-E Stack. It is being released on Williams’ Post Atlantic imprint, which is distributed by Secretly Distribution.

The album follows Williams’ two pandemic-era solo releases, 2020’s Petals For Armor and 2021’s Flowers for Vases. Paramore returned in 2023 after a five-year hiatus with This Is Why, which won two Grammys.

Ace Calls Out Select ‘Love Island’ Castmates Including Nicolandria

by jummy84 August 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Love Island USA season 7 star Ace Greene is calling out some of his castmates for coming onto the hit dating series seeking clout rather than love and is denying a genuine connection between Olandria Carthen and Nic Vansteenberghe, whom fans know as NicOlandria.

In his first (and supposedly last) unfiltered interview, following the explosive reunion, Ace sat down with famed reporter Speedy Morman.

“Going into this villa, you know, my intention was to get to know someone through and through for them,” said the 23-year-old, who left the villa in an exclusive relationship with Michelle “Chelley” Bissainthe. “I feel like going into this villa and people were asking me, ‘What’s your following?’ and ‘What do you think it’s gonna be outside of this?’ I don’t feel people [had] genuine intention.”

Within the hour-long discussion, he was asked if Nic and Olandria’s relationship was “real,” and his silence on the matter was deafening.

Ace claimed to have “a lot of respect for Olandria,” but alleged that Nic has “no romantic spark” for her. However, he reportedly told Ace that they do “find each other attractive.” Ace admitted that he does feel Taylor Williams and Clarke Carraway’s relationship is real.

If you’re unfamiliar, Olandria and Taylor coupled up immediately in the villa when the series began. Yet, he shocked everyone once Casa Amor took over and chose Clarke over Olandria, citing that their connection was more intense.

Ace confessed that he and Nic are no longer close friends, but does consider Olandria to be a good friend. Fans immediately questioned his character because his thoughts are also dangerous for Olandria’s friendship with Chelley.

“Do you know how wrong you gotta be for the shaderoom audience to side with a white man over you?,” one person tweeted. Another took to X, commenting, “Nick Viall…I repeat Nick Viall is defending Nic and Olandria against Ace, calling him petty and jealous. He said that Nic and Olandria deserve a chance to grow their relationship. Ace, even the Nicolandria deniers are bashing you.”

On Threads, media personality Blake Newby shared what many agreed with: “It has nothing to do with if he knows whether Nic and Olandria are real and everything to do with the fact that he claims to be her friend and chose Speedy’s podcast to divulge information about her relationship that not even she may be privy to.”

Olandria has seemingly dismissed his comments for now.

Paramore’s Hayley Williams Officially Releases New Album Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party: Listen

by jummy84 August 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Hayley Williams of Paramore has released a new solo album comprised of the 17 tracks shared earlier this summer and the new bonus song “Parachute.” Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party is out now on streaming services, with physical releases arriving on November 7 via Post Atlantic—Williams’ own label, started after her 20-year contract with Atlantic ended—and distributed by Secretly Distribution. Listen to the new album below.

Since granting the title track with a music video, Williams has also shared a visual for “Glum,” directed by AJ Gibboney and Zac Farro, which you can watch below. Williams and Daniel James wrote, played, and recorded most instruments on Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party, with additional help longtime collaborators Brian Robert Jones and Joey Howard. Jim-E Stack also contributed to “True Believer.”

Back in 2020, Williams made her solo debut with the full-length album Petals for Armor. She followed it up with the three-track Petals for Armor: Self-Serenades EP that same year and Flowers for Vases / Descansos in 2021. She described the latter LP as “a prequel, or some sort of detour between parts 1 and 2 of Petals.” Afterward, Paramore wrote and released their fifth studio album as a band, This Is Why, in 2023.

It wasn’t music that I really resonated with

by jummy84 August 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Josh Freese has addressed his exit from Foo Fighters, saying the band’s music wasn’t something that he “really resonated with”.

  • READ MORE: Foo Fighters live in Manchester: invincible and still untouchable

In May, the Foos announced that Freese had been let go as their drummer, with Freese saying he was “shocked” and “disappointed” by the booting.

He had joined the Foos as their touring drummer in 2023 following the sudden passing of Taylor Hawkins in March 2022.

Now, he’s opened up about the sacking in an interview with the New York Times, saying: “Looking back, it was probably more an issue with their management.”

Then, when asked about his feelings on the group now, he told the paper: “It wasn’t music that I really resonated with.”

Freese added that his two-year stint in the band was a high-pressure situation. “I’m coming in as Dave Grohl’s drummer, and the guy that’s supposed to save the day after the beloved Taylor Hawkins died,” he said, adding that it left him feeling “like I had to be firing on all cylinders all the time.”

Since his departure, fans have been speculating who would be joining Dave Grohl and co. behind the kit, including shortly-lived talks of Taylor Hawkins’ son Shane, and Soundgarden/ex-Pearl Jam’s Matt Cameron.

In July, it was reported that the Foo Fighters had locked in their new drummer, in the form of Nine Inch Nails‘ Ilan Rubin. Then, Nine Inch Nails confirmed Rubin’s departure, sharing an image of Freese with the caption “Let’s fucking GO”.

According to the New York Times article, Freese was asked to step in after Rubin left to tour with the Foos. Reflecting on the drummer swap, Freese said: “I couldn’t believe it,” before adding: “But Ilan’s a phenomenal drummer, a phenomenal musician. He’ll be perfect for the gig.”

Following his shock firing from the Foos in May, Freese wrote that “the Foo Fighters called me Monday night to let me know they’ve decided ‘to go in a different direction with their drummer’. No reason was given. Regardless, I enjoyed the past two years with them, both on and off stage and I support whatever they feel is best for the band.”

He later jokingly shared 10 possible reasons why he was “booted” from the band, including whistling “‘My Hero’ for a week solid on tour” and “starting every rehearsal with a 20 minute cowbell sound bath”.

This will mark Freese’s second stint with Nine Inch Nails, as he had previously served as the band’s drummer between 2005 and 2008 – before he was ironically replaced by Ilan Rubin.

Freese has since commented on returning to Nine Inch Nails: “Leaving Nine Inch Nails at the end of 2008 was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. My wife and I were expecting our third child, and I knew I needed to step away from life on the road to be home with my family. NIN was a band that left me walking off stage every night, thinking ‘That was incredible. We absolutely crushed it.’ And it wasn’t just a feeling, it was a certainty. That level of intensity, pride and satisfaction after each show is something I’ve rarely experienced anywhere else.”

He continued: “Now, being back on tour with Trent and the crew – helping them do what they do best night after night – is something I’m incredibly excited about. To be part of that energy again feels amazing. If you get a chance to catch one of these shows over the next six weeks, I promise, they’re going to be absolutely unforgettable. Hope to see you out there.”

In May, it was announced that the Foo Fighters will play their first show of 2025 at the Singapore F1 Grand Prix. He also recently appeared on a new Ed Sheeran track titled ‘Drive‘ for the F1 soundtrack. The band also recently unveiled 2025 world tour dates in Indonesia and Japan, which you can find tickets for here.

Since then, they’ve shared a nifty cover of Minor Threat’s ‘I Don’t Wanna Hear It’, and in early July marked their 30th anniversary with a new single, ‘Today’s Song’. Grohl also thanked every former member of the band for their contributions throughout the years, including Freese.

The comeback gigs in October will also mark the band’s first appearances together since Dave Grohl courted controversy last September when he revealed that he had fathered a daughter outside of his marriage.

Sabrina Carpenter Warns ‘Man’s Best Friend’ Not for ‘Pearl Clutchers’

by jummy84 August 28, 2025
written by jummy84

“Sometimes people hear the lyrics that are really bold, and they go, ‘I don’t want to sing this in front of other people.’ It’s like it’s almost too TMI,” the singer tells CBS Mornings

Sabrina Carpenter warned that the provocative lyrics on her upcoming album Man’s Best Friend might not be for prude-minded people in a preview from the singer’s interview with CBS Mornings.

“The album is not for any pearl clutchers,” Carpenter told Gayle King in a clip shared Thursday, one day before Man’s Best Friend’s arrival. “But I also think that even pearl clutchers can listen to an album like that in their own solitude and find something that makes them smirk and chuckle to themselves.”

While previous hits like “Espresso” and “Please Please Please” were more subtle with the innuendo, Man’s Best Friend’s previous singles and controversial album art suggest a bolder, more sexual LP, one that might make casual fans uncomfortable.

“Sometimes people hear the lyrics that are really bold, and they go, ‘I don’t want to sing this in front of other people.’ It’s like it’s almost too TMI,” Carpenter added.

Trending Stories

“But I think about being at a concert with, you know, however many young women I see in the front row that are screaming at the top of their lungs with their best friends, and you can go like, ‘Oh, we can all sigh of relief, like, ‘This is just fun.’ And that’s all it has to be.”

In her recent Rolling Stone cover story, Carpenter said of the people bemoaning her sultry stage shows, in particular her “Juno” positions, “It’s always so funny to me when people complain. They’re like, ‘All she does is sing about this.’ But those are the songs that you’ve made popular. Clearly you love sex. You’re obsessed with it. It’s in my show. There’s so many more moments than the ‘Juno’ positions, but those are the ones you post every night and comment on. I can’t control that. If you come to the show, you’ll [also] hear the ballads, you’ll hear the more introspective numbers. I find irony and humor in all of that, because it seems to be a recurring theme. I’m not upset about it, other than I feel mad pressure to be funny sometimes.”

Kid Cudi Says Smoked 15 Blunts Per Day Before Going to Rehab

by jummy84 August 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Kid Cudi has opened up about how he needed a stint in rehab to curb his marijuana use. On the heels of releasing a new album and his memoir, People sat down with Cudi earlier this week, and during the chat, he admitted there was a point he was smoking 15 blunts per day.

“I just was in this place where I was abusing it,” Cudder said. “I was really abusing it. I was smoking maybe 15 blunts a day, wake up in the mornings, get high. It truly ruled my life.”

After getting out of rehab, Cudi stayed away from smoking weed for two months and then restarted a healthier relationship with marijuana, which he has under control now.

“And now I just get after it at night or on the weekends when I have the free time and I’m just relaxing, but I’m not smoking nowhere near as much weed as I was smoking before,” the Ohio rapper explained. “A joint lasts me all day, damn near. So my relationship has changed with that in a major way. And I’m just more interested in being sober a lot more and being more present.”

Cudi’s memoir arrived on Aug. 12, which finds him baring his soul and delving into his turbulent journey filled with stories of loss, love and battling addiction. An early excerpt from the memoir revealed Cudi nearly died of a drug overdose circa 2010.

“I was at peace with dying,” Cudi wrote. “After doing more coke than I ever had in my life I was losing all sense of what was real. I’d been alone in my New York apartment, crying for hours, listening to the Lykke Li song ‘Time Flies’ on repeat. It was a love song, but the melodies and her voice filled me with despair.”

He continued: “It was peace I was after. Here, crippled on the floor, minutes from overdosing, was the closest I’d ever come to finding it. ‘You made great music that people loved,’ I thought, ‘but this is the end.’”

On the music side, Kid Cudi released his Free album on Aug. 22, which boasts 13 tracks and no featured guests.

Amy Adams, Matt Smith Join Cast

written by jummy84

Things are heating up for one of the few announced Star Wars projects on the horizon, as Lucasfilm has announced a bunch of new cast members for Star Wars: Starfighter, which starts production today. Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings, and Amy Adams will all joining Ryan Gosling in Shawn Levy’s new space adventure, set to premiere in 2027.

There are some heavy-hitters in that list: Adams is one of the most acclaimed actresses of her generation with six Oscar nominations and a slew of credits including Arrival, Enchanted, and The Master, while also serving as Zack Snyder’s Lois Lane. Goth, meanwhile, has become a horror queen thanks to Ti West’s X trilogy, as well as roles in Infinity Pool and Susperia — she’ll next be seen in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein later this year.

Pierre’s credits include the acclaimed limited series The Underground Railroad, playing Malcolm X in NatGeo’s Genius: MLK/X, and portraying a young Mufasa in Mufasa: The Lion King. And Smith’s latest movie, Darren Aronofsky’s Caught Stealing, hits theaters on August 29th, but the Doctor Who and Crown star has recently become a staple across multiple major franchises thanks to appearances in Terminator Genisys, Morbius (not his fault), and House of the Dragon.

In a statement, Levy said that “I feel a profound sense of excitement and honor as we begin production on Star Wars: Starfighter. From the day Kathy Kennedy called me up, inviting me to develop an original adventure in this incredible Star Wars galaxy, this experience has been a dream come true, creatively and personally. Star Wars shaped my sense of what story can do, how characters and cinematic moments can live with us forever. To join this storytelling galaxy with such brilliant collaborators onscreen and off, is the thrill of a lifetime.”

Star Wars: Starfighter premieres May 28th, 2027. For more Star Wars fun, look back on Matt Goldberg’s reflection on the state of the franchise today.

Drake Returns To ‘Degrassi’ Roots In New Documentary: Watch

by jummy84 August 28, 2025
written by jummy84

“Whatever it takes/ I know I can make it through,” the opening lyrics from Degrassi: The Next Generation live rent-free in the minds of a certain generation, but the phrase, “Whatever it takes,” is about to take on a whole new meaning as the cast and crew open up about the highs and lows of the beloved franchise.

Aubrey “Drake” Graham stars alongside Amanda Stepto, Stefan Brogren, Shenae Grimes-Beech, Jake Epstein, Miriam McDonald, and more in the new documentary, Degrassi: Whatever It Takes.

The franchise started with Kids of Degrassi Street, which aired from 1979 to 1986. Its spinoff, Degrassi Junior High, lasted two years from 1987 through 1989, along with Degrassi High (1989-1991). The franchise attracted a slew of new viewers when Degrassi: The Next Generation premiered in 2001. The lead cast included McDonald, Drake, Grimes-Beech, Epstein, Cassie Steele, and Nina Dobrev. This iteration was the franchise’s longest, running from 2001 to 2015. The latest installment, Degrassi: Next Class, aired on Netflix from 2016 to 2017.

“Degrassi changed the landscape of television with real, unvarnished storytelling and did it unapologetically from a teenage perspective,” said the film’s director, Lisa Rideout. “I was inspired by how fearless the series was in tackling issues that others wouldn’t touch. This documentary celebrates the iconic Canadian franchise while revealing the impact it had on the people who made it and the audiences who loved it.”

Carrie Mudd, executive producer for Peacock Alley, added, “Degrassi is more than a TV show. It’s a time capsule of growing up, full of heart, honesty, and every ‘first’ experience you can think of. Nothing then, or now, has captured the teenage experience in a more raw, authentic, or unfiltered way. Degrassi is one of Canada’s most significant cultural exports, having helped shape four decades of TV and touched multiple generations of kids around the world. Telling its story felt like honoring a piece of the Canadian identity.”

The trailer for the documentary was released on Wednesday (Aug. 27) with Drake detailing how he wound up landing his breakout role as Jimmy Brooks.

Franchise creator Linda Schyuler also appears in the trailer, noting, “Have we always gotten it right? Probably not. Have we told our stories with the best of intentions? Yes, we have.”

Dawson’s Creek alum Joshua Jackson described Degrassi as the “big grandaddy” to coming-of-age shows, including his own and Beverly Hills, 90210.

Degrassi: Whatever It Takes will premiere on Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Toronto International Film Festival as a TIFF 50 Official Selection. Watch the trailer above.

Ariana Grande has announced a tour—her first live run in more than six years. Starting in June 2026, the dates begin with a North American run—including stops in like Los Angeles, Boston, and Chicago—before closing with a slate of shows at London’s O2 Arena in August. See the tour dates below.

Grande last toured in 2019, behind Sweetener and Thank U, Next. In the years since, she has released Positions, a pandemic album, and Eternal Sunshine, which dovetailed with the release and promotion of Wicked. That movie turned out to be a big deal, earning her a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the Oscars and a slot performing “Defying Gravity” with co-star Cynthia Erivo at the ceremony.

With that behind her, Grande released a handful more songs under the umbrella of Eternal Sunshine Deluxe: Brighter Days Ahead. Her next cinematic ventures will be the sequel Wicked: For Good and a new entry in the Meet the Parents franchise, tentatively titled Focker In-Law and featuring role reprisals from stars Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Blythe Danner, Teri Polo and Owen Wilson.
