Alabama Shakes Share First New Song in 10 Years: Listen

by jummy84 August 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Alabama Shakes are back with their first new song in a decade. “Another Life” is the rock trio’s first original track since the 2015 album Sound & Color—and their debut single for new label home Island. Listen to it below.

“When I wrote ‘Another Life,’ I was thinking about all the lives we carry,” Shakes vocalist and guitarist Brittany Howard shared in a statement. “The ones we’re living right now, the ones that slipped away because of different choices, the what ifs, the what wasn’t meant to be, the goodbyes, and the chance encounters that feel divine. This song is about those threads and how they stretch across time and space, connecting every version of who we are. It’s about letting them come together, letting them harmonize, and realizing that goodbye isn’t really goodbye. It’s more like I’ll see you later. A collective story that never stops unfolding. I’m glad we opened this door into this reality of us making music together again.”

Alabama Shakes—the trio of Howard, Heath Fogg, and Zac Cockrell—went on official hiatus in 2018. Since then, Howard has released two solo albums under her own name: 2019’s Jaime and 2023’s What Now. The band are currently in the midst of their first tour since 2017, which will continue through the end of September.

Nightreign’ ultra-hard mode gets 2025 release date

by jummy84 August 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Elden Ring: Nightreign has confirmed a new ultra difficult mode will launch September 2025 after being leaked earlier this month.

Elden Ring spin-off Nightreign challenges players to survive for two nights in the cursed land of Limveld, with a fiendishly difficult boss to slay at the end of each day. The game launched at the end of May 2025 but a few days later, developers FromSoftware confirmed they would be making things easier for solo players after complaints.

To try and keep the balance right, challenging, limited-time Everdark Sovereign bosses were introduced in June which are tougher, meaner and more dangerous versions of the existing Nightlord bosses. Now FromSoftware has confirmed details of an ultra difficult mode after they were leaked earlier this month.

“’Deep Of Night’ is a high-difficulty challenge mode designed for seasoned players who have navigated through the Night many times,” reads the official announcement. In ‘Deep Of Night’, all enemies will be stronger and more difficult to beat, while the Nightlord will be a surprise meaning you can’t adjust your build to get an advantage.

I’m actually so excited for this! https://t.co/HE940jOmn7

— PeachyShortcake🔜TwitchCon (@ShortcakePeachy) August 28, 2025

A new range of weapons and relics will also be available with both positive and negative effects. As you beat each ‘Deep Of Night’ game, you will gain access to more challenging levels while losses will push you back to easier ‘Depths’. There are currently five ‘Depths’ to play through, with four and five offering “an endless battle for those seeking even greater thrills.” Elden Ring: Nightreign’s ‘Deep Of Night’ will launch September 11.

Earlier this week, it was revealed Elden Ring “superfan” Alex Garland put together an “epic” 200-page pitch for the movie adaptation before flying to Japan to get the blessing of creator Hidetaka Miyazaki. Game Of Thrones author George R.R. Martin, who will serve as producer on the film after helping with the lore of the original game, has called Garland a “first rate” director and shared a video explaining why the Elden Ring movie adaptation “won’t suck”.

In other news, Elijah Wood has revealed his favourite video games of all time while taking part in a Reddit Ask Me Anything interview.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Make First Appearance as Engaged Couple

by jummy84 August 29, 2025

The duo attended a college football match-up between the Cincinnati Bearcats and the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Kansas City

Newly-engaged couple Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce made their first public appearance on Thursday night following the announcement of their impending nuptials. The duo attended the Cincinnati Bearcats and the Nebraska Cornhuskers game at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City alongside Jason Kelce (and Swift’s enormous ring).

Kelce notably played for the Bearcats during his college career at the University of Cincinnati. The NFL player’s current Kansas City Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes was also spotted in the crowd with Swift and Kelce.

Swift and Kelce announced their engagement in joint post on Instagram on Tuesday, sharing a carousel of images with the caption “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” The photos captured the couple surrounded by flowers and foliage. Kelce proposed with a Kindred Lubeck-designed ring from Artifex Fine Jewelry, housing an old mine brilliant cut. They set the post to “So High School,” the Tortured Poets Department deep cut where Swift sings, “Are you gonna marry, kiss, or kill me? It’s just a game, but really.”

During a recent appearance on Kelce’s New Heights podcast, Swift reflected fondly on how he went about courting her. “This kind of felt more like I was in an Eighties John Hughes movie, and he was standing outside of my window with boom box, just being like, ‘I want to date you,’” she said. “This is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.”

Trending Stories

Since the beginning of their relationship, Swift has attended numerous football games, including two Super Bowls in support of Kelce’s team. She has regularly brought her famous friends along as well, with Blake Lively and Ice Spice among the notable guests in her Chiefs suite. The NFL has notably leaned into her superstardom. Swift’s appearances during live NFL broadcasts have arguably led to increased viewership, and the league’s official social media accounts love to reference her.

Recently, Swifties have become convinced that Swift is preparing to headline the Super Bowl LX halftime show next year. Ever since the pop superstar went on the New Heights podcast for a two-hour interview and announced her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, fans have speculated that she is planting Easter eggs for the big moment. “I’m never going to plant an Easter egg that ties back to my personal life,” Swift noted on the show. “It’s always going to be towards music, something I have coming up.”

It’s the most popular show of them all on Nexflix, and now KPop Demon Hunters can claim to be most popular album in Australia for 2025.

The soundtrack for KPop Demon Hunters clocks up seven consecutive weeks at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart, for the longest reign by any album for the year.

Over on the ARIA Singles Chart, soundtrack hit “Golden” retains top spot for the fifth straight a row, and is one of KPop Demon Hunters songs in the top 10.

Earlier this week, Netflix announced the animated action/musical had accumulated more than 236 million views since its June 20 premiere, good enough to beat Red Notice and into first place on the streaming platform’s all-time rankings for English-language films.

Laufey leads the new arrivals on the ARIA Chart, published Friday, Aug. 29, as A Matter of Time clocks up a No. 2 debut, the classical-adjacent artist’s career best in Australia.

Deftones complete the podium with Private Music, their 10th studio album. It’s new at No. 3 for the alternative rock heavyweight’s sixth ARIA Top 20 appearance.

Meanwhile, Royel Otis enjoy a second consecutive top 10, as Hickey, their sophomore collection, opens its account at No. 5. That’s a career best for the Sydney duo of Royel Maddell and Otis Pavlovic, after the No. 10 peak for 2024’s Pratts & Pain, winner of four ARIA Awards, including best rock album and best group.

Hickey houses “Moody,” which last month reached No. 1 on Adult Alternative Airplay chart, their first leader on a Billboard chart. “Moody” bested the No. 2 peak of the indie-rock act’s cover of Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s “Murder on the Dancefloor,” which hit No. 2 on Alternative Airplay in July 2024.

Another act with an Australian connection, Stray Kids debut at No. 4 with Karma, for the K-pop boyband’s sixth top 10 appearance in Australia. That tally includes Maxident (No. 4 in 2022), 5-Star (No. 2 in 2023), Rock-Star (No. 2 in 2023), Ate (No. 2 in 2024) and Hop (No. 4 in 2024). Band mate Felix was born and raised in Sydney, while Bang Chan was born in Seoul but also grew up in Sydney.

US country artist Lainey Wilson lassos a new chart peak with Whirlwind, which enters at No. 8 following the release of a deluxe edition. Whirlwind reached No. 19 in August 2024.

Tyler, The Creator’s CHERRY BOMB blows up for a new chart peak of No. 10, eclipsing its best of No. 13 in 2015. Tyler is currently working his way across Australia and New Zealand on the domestic leg of his Chromakopia tour, produced by Frontier Touring, and on Friday opened the flagship GOLF store in Sydney.

Further down the list, British indie rock outfit Wolf Alice snag a No. 14 debut with Clearing, their fourth album, while Bleak Squad, the Melbourne-based “super group” comprising Mick Turner (Dirty Three, Mess Esque), Mick Harvey (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, PJ Harvey, The Birthday Party), Adalita (Magic Dirt) and Marty Brown (Art of Fighting) are new at No. 40 with Strange Love, their first album.

Finally, the top debut on the ARIA Singles Chart belongs to Doja Cat, whose “Jealous Type” leaps in at No. 28. “Jealous Type” is Doja’s 16th top 50 hit as a solo or featured artist on the ARIA Chart, including “Paint The Town Red,” which logged 10 weeks at No. 1 in 2023.

Some of the biggest names in music will head south next spring as part of Lollapalooza festival visits to Chile, Argentina and Brazil, including Sabrina Carpenter, Tyler, the Creator, Chappell Roan, Deftones, Skrillex, Lorde and Doechii.

The events will be simultaneously held March 13-15, 2026, at Parque O’Higgins in Santiago and Hippodromo de San Isidro in Buenos Aires, with the Brazilian edition set for March 20-22 at Autódromo de Interlagos in São Paulo. Per organizer C3 Presents, Carpenter, Tyler, Roan and Doechii will all be playing in South America for the first time in their careers.

The undercards for all three events are loaded with other favorites, including Turnstile, Lewis Capaldi, Interpol, Kygo, Peggy Gou, Tom Morello, Cypress Hill, Addison Rae, Katseye, Marina, Djo, Men I Trust, Lola Young, 2hollis and Shaquille O’Neal (as his DJ Diesel alter-ego).

For Carpenter, the bookings extend her roadwork in support of her new Island album, Man’s Best Friend, which will be released tomorrow (Aug. 29). She had a breakout moment at the Chicago edition of Lollapalooza in 2023 and returned there earlier this month as a headliner, bringing out Earth, Wind & Fire for a guest appearance on their classic “September.”

The 2025 version of Lollapalooza South America featured Justin Timberlake, Olivia Rodrigo, Shawn Mendes and Alanis Morissette.

Denzel Washington Is "Tired of Movies" Possibly Because He Makes Them

Denzel Washington Is “Tired of Movies” Possibly Because He Makes Them

by jummy84 August 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Denzel Washington says that when it comes to watching movies in his downtime, he is officially over it. The 70-year-old star recently spoke with GQ where he admitted that he’s not really interested in cinema anymore, despite building one of the most respected and history-making careers in Hollywood.

In the conversation alongside his Highest 2 Lowest director, Spike Lee, and costar A$AP Rocky, Washington kept it real when asked about film. “Do you have any dolly shots of this guy that you admire?” A$AP teased, referencing Lee’s iconic filmography, to which Washington replied, “I don’t watch movies, man. I really don’t.”

Both Lee and Rocky laughed at the confession, but Denzel doubled down: “I’m just being honest with you. I don’t watch movies, man. I don’t go to the movies, I don’t watch movies.” When pressed on whether his disinterest stems from being a filmmaker and actor himself, Washington admitted, “Probably. I’m tired of movies.”

Later, when Lee asked how many films he’s made over his career, the Training Day star shrugged, saying, “Too many,” and estimated he’s appeared in around 50 films. This isn’t the first time Washington has kept it too real about Hollywood. During the press run for Highest 2 Lowest, he also said he’s not concerned with industry accolades, even dismissing some of his own Oscar wins.

“I don’t do it for Oscars. I really don’t care about that kind of stuff,” he told Jake’s Takes. “There are times I won and shouldn’t have won… and didn’t win and should’ve won. Man gives the award, God gives the reward.”

He even poked fun at his two Academy Awards for Training Day and Glory, saying, “People ask, ‘Where do you keep it?’ I say, ‘Next to the other one.’ I’m not bragging, I’m just telling you how I feel. On my last day, they won’t do me a bit of good!”

Despite Washington’s nonchalantness, his legacy speaks volumes. His Oscar wins have made history, with his Glory win cementing him as the second Black actor to take home Best Supporting Actor at the time, following Louis Gossett Jr. He was also the first Black actor to earn two nominations in that category.

Beyond the trophies, his filmography includes: Malcolm X, Philadelphia, American Gangster, Remember the Titans, Training Day, and most recently, Gladiator II.

Bella Ramsey tells 'The Last Of Us' critics not to watch season three

Bella Ramsey tells ‘The Last Of Us’ critics not to watch season three

by jummy84 August 29, 2025
written by jummy84

The Last Of Us star Bella Ramsey has cautioned critics of the hit HBO series not to watch season three – see what they had to say below.

  • READ MORE: ‘The Last Of Us’ season two review: heartbreakingly brilliant apocalypse drama

The first season of HBO’s The Last Of Us adapted the plot of the hit video game, while the second season began to tell the story of The Last Of Us Part II. In the series, Ramsey – who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns – portrays Ellie, while Pedro Pascal plays Joel Miller.

The second season of The Last Of Us may have inspired millions to try out the video game series but viewership of the finale was down 56 per cent compared to season one. There was also tension between long-term fans of the game and newcomers to the series. However, the hit show has been nominated for 16 awards at the 2025 Emmys.

Several points of contention among critics have been aimed at Ramsey since the show’s debut, some of which point at their acting chops, while others have slammed the show’s casting, arguing that Ramsey looks nothing like the character they’re based on.

The Last Of Us co-creator Neil Druckmann also said they weren’t bothered about casting actors who looked exactly like their game counterparts. “It’s just different priorities and how you approach it,” Druckmann explained. “We need people to really capture the essence of those characters and we value performance over anything else.”

In a recent appearance on The Awardist podcast (via The Hollywood Reporter), Ramsey addressed the hate ad admitted that they try their best to “steer clear” of the show’s “louder critics”: “There’s nothing I can do about it anyway. The show is out. There’s nothing that can be changed or altered. So I’m like, there’s not really any point in reading or looking at anything.”

“People are of course entitled to their opinions. But it doesn’t affect the show, it doesn’t affect how the show continues or anything in any way. They’re very separate things to me. So no, I just don’t really engage.”

Ramsey went on to tell the show’s critics that they aren’t being forced to watch season three: “You don’t have to watch it. If you hate it that much, the game exists. You can just play the game again,” they said. “If you do want to watch it, hope you enjoy it.”

Season three will include Ramsey’s character Ellie, but will primarily focus on Kaitlyn Dever’s Abby – the antagonist of season two – and her retelling of the events that transpired in season two.

In July, it was announced that The Last Of Us co-creator Neil Druckmann would be stepping away as co-showrunner on the HBO adaptation to focus on making more games. Fellow Naughty Dog employee Halley Gross (who worked as a writer and producer on the TV show) also confirmed she’d be leaving the project. It means Mazin will have total creative control over the future of The Last Of Us.

Season two of The Last Of Us scored a four-star review from NME, with Nick Levine writing: “At its best, The Last Of Us is unsettling enough to make you question your own hypothetical moral code. When every day is about survival and making sense of post-apocalyptic chaos, does taking a life become easier, or somehow even harder? This show doesn’t just go deep narratively – it also cuts deep emotionally.”

Jessie J Cancels U.S. Tour, Postpones U.K and European Shows

by jummy84 August 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Jessie J announced that all U.S. dates of her No Secrets tour have been cancelled and that she has postponed her U.K. and European shows ahead of her second surgery after her breast cancer diagnoses.

The singer announced the news in a post shared to Instagram on Thursday. She began by saying that after scrapping her first video, which was five minutes long and “not realistic to anyone,” she decided to release a shorter one “with more facts, less emotion,” and to “just be blunt.”

Jessie said that following her breast cancer surgery eight weeks ago, she now has to undergo a second surgery. While she said it was “nothing too serious,” she said the surgery had to be done by the end of the year and “unfortunately, that falls right in the middle of a tour that I had booked.”

The “Domino” artist said that she is “living” and “embracing the moment,” while “flowing with the vibes.” She added, “So, that is what it is, and I’m sorry. I feel frustrated and sad, but also it is what it is, and I need to be better. I need to be healed. And I know this is the right decision to make.”

The U.K. and European shows previously scheduled for October 2025 will now take place April 2026, while all U.S. tickets will be refunded to the original method of payment.

Jessie asked U.S. fans to “please bear with us” and assured them that “it’s something that I want to do, but when the time is right.” She added, “You guys know how much I want to do all of it, but I just can’t, and I have to be realistic.” The musician also teased that there is “new music coming” and that she was already getting messages about the album cover design.

“I’m trying to compartmentalize all the different things that are happening in my life and where I have to give the energy, but I have to heal. So, forgive me. I’m sorry,” she said, before sharing that her next single, “Believe in Magic,” drops Friday. “I love you all so much, and I’m so grateful you’re on this journey with me. I’m going to go before I cry my eyes out.”

Trending Stories

Jessie returned to music earlier this year and released singles “No Secrets” in April and “Living My Best Life” the following month. Following her mastectomy after her breast cancer diagnosis in June, Jessie shared that the cancer did not spread.

Six weeks after her first surgery, Jessie was admitted to the hospital once again to address ongoing complications. The singer shared in an Instagram Story post that she discharged herself after being assured that the symptoms she was experiencing were not related to a blood clot in her lungs. “I finally got a diagnosis of what’s been going on. Lots of people have been asking, apparently it’s called… Dramatic? I think that’s the spelling,” she later wrote in another post. “My symptoms are the same and no idea what’s wrong yet. But my sarcasm and sense of humour are holding on.”
