Cash Cobain Says Jay-Z Told Him He’s ‘Not Dropping an Album’

by jummy84 September 10, 2025

When Jay-Z calls, you pick up the phone. Cash Cobain revealed on Wednesday (Sept. 10) that he received a call from Hov to straighten out the narrative regarding rumors of a new project from the rap mogul being on the horizon, which Cash pushed during his appearance on Billboard Unfiltered Live Sept. 3.

“When I was on the phone with Hov he said that he is absolutely not dropping an album,” Cash wrote to X, along with six laughing-crying emojis. “that messed me up tho.”

Jay is very aware of what’s being said about him in the culture, and the “This is Hov” text message meme came to life for the Bronx rapper.

It all came about after Cash joined Billboard Unfiltered Live alongside Zeddy Will, during which he named Jay-Z as the king of New York, but teased that he heard that the Roc Nation boss was gearing up to release a new project.

“I heard Jay-Z about to drop some s—t. That’s what I heard,” he said at the time. “That’s about to shake the world.”

It’s been eight years since Jay’s last solo album, 4:44, dropped. Primarily produced by No I.D., the set debuted atop the Billboard 200 with 262,000 album units earned in the first week.

There has been fan speculation about a new Jay-Z project being made somewhere in the world, as 2026 would be 30 years since his Reasonable Doubt debut, and the 55-year-old popped out at a handful of dates on wife Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour.

Unbelievable “Bohemian Rhapsody” Flashmob Takes Over Paris Streets

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Thirty musicians and singers recently gathered in the streets of Paris for a flashmob performance of Queen’s iconic song “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

A video of the flashmob was posted on the YouTube channel of one of the performers, pianist Julien Cohen, on Tuesday (September 9th), and the clip has since gone viral, surpassing over 500,000 views in just one day.

The flashmob took place in a particularly busy intersection for foot traffic. With the presence of a drum kit, speakers, and a piano, onlookers might have been anticipating some kind of busker performance; unbeknownst to them, they were about to witness an epic public orchestration of the Queen classic.

Related Video

Cohen appears to guide the performance from the piano, but it’s young UK guitar prodigy Olly Pearson who steals the show, shredding through Brian May’s guitar flourishes and solos. Elsewhere, singers are placed in the windows of apartments surrounding the street, providing the song’s iconic operatic vocals and call-and-response sections.

Overall, the production of the video and choreography of the flashmob is mighty impressive, and everything appears to go off without a hitch.

GloRilla Files To Dismiss Copyright Lawsuit Over “BBL” Phrase

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

GloRilla‘s legal team is firing back at a copyright suit filed against her earlier this summer. Natalie Henderson (@slimdabodylast on Instagram) claimed the Memphis rapper stole the phrase “all natural, no BBL” from her and used it in her lyrics without consent. However, Glo is arguing to a judge that copyright law does not protect such a “common” and “cliched” expression.

“The phrase ‘natural[e], no BBL’ —referring to a person with a natural body who has not undergone the ‘Brazilian Butt Lift’ cosmetic procedure—is too common, everyday, trite, and cliched to be protectable by copyright,” her lawyers wrote in the Sept. 8 filing, obtained by Billboard.

“The phrase at issue in plaintiff’s song is not original and thus not copyrightable… Anyone who listens to the two songs should easily reach the conclusion that these songs are not substantially similar,” the motion went on. The document also cites seven other songs with similar verbiage and claims that even if the phrase was copyrightable, there’s no evidence that the “FNF” artist ever heard it from Henderson.

The bar in question is on Glo’s song 2024 song “Never Find,” which features the line: “Natural, no BBL/ but I’m still gon’ give him hell.” The track appeared on her GLORIOUS album, which peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, as a bonus record. Henderson shared the phrase in a song, writing, “All natural, no BBL/ Mad hoes go to hell,” and her attorneys argued at the time there are “unmistakable similarities between the two works.”

“Based upon a side-by-side comparison of the two songs, a layperson could hear similarities in the lyrics, arrangement, melody, core expression, content, and other compositional elements in both songs and conclude that songs are essentially identical,” they said.

This isn’t the first time Glo was hit with a lawsuit over alleged unauthorized usage of elements in her music. In 2023, she was sued by a producer over using unlicensed samples in her hit songs “Tomorrow” and “Tomorrow 2,” but the case was dismissed last year.

Justin Bieber: SWAG II Album Review

Justin Bieber: SWAG II Album Review

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Tha Carter VI. Jaws: The Revenge. Ghoulies III: Ghoulies Go to College. Vultures 2. The cultural landscape is littered with unnecessary sequels, so it is not exactly an effrontery that Justin Bieber has released a follow-up to his alt-leaning SWAG less than two months later, but wow, is it a chore to get through. On SWAG II, redundancy is twofold: It tacks on another 23 tracks to the senior SWAG’s already overlong 21, resulting in over two hours of music between the two volumes and very little to say. The novelty has worn off.

Appealing as it was to hear Bieber adopt the beguiling sonic-stew aesthetic of his collaborators Dijon (who’s back to co-produce six SWAG II tracks) and Mk.gee (who, as last time, lends his services to just one), it is now clear that Bieber’s take is lite-r in every way. It’s less robust, less intense, less blissfully chaotic. The elements are there—the R&B-inflected singing (though Bieber’s comes out more like R&B-affected), guitars so bleary they sound hungover from last night, lite-rock keyboards, little wild squiggle fills—but the dynamism has been flattened, perhaps by other collaborators (Carter Lang, Dylan “Sir Dylan” Wiggins, and Eddie Benjamin are again behind the boards for the majority of SWAG II). Minor distinctions speak volumes as Bieber’s secondhand sound circles back to the gel-slicked textures of its original source material. Try playing “Open Up Your Heart” alongside Breathe’s 1988 soft-focus adult contemporary smash “How Can I Fall?”; they flow together so well that Bieber is effectively making music that one could peacefully buy adult diapers to.

On its face, SWAG II is fine in small doses. It is not as ignorable as it is interesting, as Brian Eno said about ambient music, but it is pleasantly ignorable. Scrutiny, though, reveals the majority of these songs to be single-sentiment affairs, and many play as sketches. Some have only one verse; “Poppin’ My Shit” features only Bieber on the chorus while Hurricane Chris raps a few bars, concluding with the fawning, “Once I hit, you gon’ get hooked and ain’t gon’ never leave me/Got some friends and they all love Justin Bieber.” What is this, a cabinet meeting?

There are odes, perhaps directed to wife Hailey Bieber, though the treacliest, “I Think You’re Special” casts its message of inner peace more generally. It also squanders the presence of Tems, who is almost relegated to background vocals. There are sexual slow jams, probably also about Hailey Bieber. “You got me singing, I, I, oh man,” is some faint praise Bieber offers in one. There are songs about arguments, and in the most scabrous, “Petting Zoo,” Bieber seethes amid a solo-electric arrangement: “I told you that you fuckin’ with a man/Yeah, I told you I don’t play that shit, no cap/Bitch, I told you I’m not doin’ tit-for-tat, no/Don’t make me say some shit I can’t take back.” At least there’s something courageous in being willing to sound like a total prick in public. Even when he’s being affectionate, there’s sometimes an edge. “Nobody gets to touch you/I do,” he sings, hardly the most romantic definition of monogamy.

The Joker could feature in upcoming superhero film ‘Clayface’, set photos reveal

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Photos from the set of the upcoming Clayface movie have given fans a new glimpse of the Joker – take a look at them here.

In an on-set photo shared on X (Twitter), a black-and-white poster reads, “Corruption is the enemy of the people,” with the text underneath saying, “March against the G.C.P.D. Park Row, Gotham. This Saturday, 2pm. JOIN THE JOKER.”

It comes after the Joker was first teased last month, with other behind-the-scenes photos revealing graffiti tags reading, “The Jokers”. Some have speculated that the character might be recruiting people to take a stand against the Gotham City Police Department.

The James Watkins-directed movie is filming in Liverpool and set for release on September 11, 2026, and stars Tom Rhys Harries as the titular character, also known as Matt Hagen, an actor whose face is disfigured by a gangster. As a result, he turns to a scientist (Naomi Ackie) who transforms his body into clay. Max Minghella and Eddie Marsan are also set to star.

It’ll be the third movie in the DC Universe franchise, part of its ‘Chapter One: Gods and Monsters’ slate.

Have fun with these! This was took yesterday by myself as the set was getting put together pic.twitter.com/vo0Zu99Ibf

DC Studios is currently developing The Brave And The Bold, which will showcase the franchise’s version of Batman for the first time, but Clayface could give fans a look at the Joker in the meantime.

Also in development at present is Superman follow-up Man Of Tomorrow, set for release in 2027, as well as The Authority, Swamp Thing, and an as-yet-untitled Wonder Woman movie.

Clayface’s first appearance in the DCU came in the first season of Creature Commandos and was voiced by Alan Tudyk. However, DCU co-creator said that Tudyk wouldn’t reprise his role in the movie because the character wasn’t Tudyk’s main role in the universe – he also voiced Doctor Phosphorus in Creature Commandos.

Cardi B, Sombr, Doja Cat, Lorde's NYC Pop-Ups: Unique Fan Experiences

Cardi B, Sombr, Doja Cat, Lorde’s NYC Pop-Ups: Unique Fan Experiences

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Cardi B, Sombr, Doja Cat, and Lorde have made use of the city’s spontaneous energy to give their fans unique experiences

The day after the MTV Video Music Awards, Doja Cat told her fans to meet her in Union Square in New York City. There, an old school phone booth was set up (sponsored by Spotify) where fans took pictures and picked up the phone to hear snippets of her new album, Vie. Doja Cat herself stopped by that afternoon, decked out in an Eighties-inspired outfit that fits her new music’s sound and aesthetic, to pass out roses and greet the massive crowd that took over the park.

These days, that’s a pretty standard scene in NYC: Artists have become infatuated with the city once again and are promoting their albums with unique pop-up experiences and promo tactics that lean into the chaos. Back in April, Lorde doubled down on her big move to Manhattan by inviting her fans to join her in Washington Square Park. So many people flooded the space that the cops shut down her appearance before she could even leave her apartment. She showed up that evening to dance to her new single, which was filmed for her “What Was That” music video.

In late August, Sombr shut down part of Canal Street to perform songs from his debut album, I Barely Know Her, which was released a few hours later. The 20-year-old singer grew up just a few blocks away from where the stage was set up, referring to the portion of the Lower East Side he shut down by its modernized nickname “Dimes Square.”

Trending Stories

Another New York native, Cardi B, took a more humorous approach to promoting her long-awaited sophomore album, Am I the Drama? Wearing a Rasta beanie, sweatpants, and a sweatshirt, she laid out physical copies of her album (and all its different covers) on a black comforter while waving around incense sticks for a viral video. Every New Yorker is well acquainted with the dudes hawking everything from purses to Blu-Rays on busy streets.

These situations feel a little less curated and stiff than a pre-scheduled appearance at a pop-up merch experience or hyper-secured CD signing. Each of these artists are leaning into the spontaneity of the city, giving their fans short notice for unique experiences. Plus, the excitement always pays off: It’s difficult to not draw a crowd in the city, even if it’s just based on passersby trying to figure out what the hell is going on. And for the fans who did skip work or school to swing by, it definitely makes for a good story.

Rosie O’Donnell Skips Daughter’s College Graduation Amid Trump Feud

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Rosie O’Donnell has revealed that she skipped out on attending her daughter’s college graduation out of security concerns.

The former talk show host and actress has had a contentious relationship with Trump for over two decades and recently moved from the US to Ireland following his re-election. Trump recently suggested he was “giving serious consideration to taking away [O’Donnell’s] citizenship,” adding, “She is a threat to humanity and should remain in the wonderful country of Ireland, if they want her.

During an appearance on the No Filter podcast, O’Donnell explained that she made the decision not to travel back to the US to attend her daughter Vivenne’s graduation out of an abundance of caution. “The security people said to me they didn’t think it was wise,” O’Donnell said. “Because I think Trump will use me to rile his base.”

“[Trump’s] ability to denigrate people and dismiss them and humiliate them encouraged other people to do the same,” she added.

O’Donnell previously she’d consider returning to the US when “all citizens have equal rights.” She currently lives in Ireland with her child Clay, who identifies as nonbinary.

Keefe D Claims Diddy Placed $1M Bounty On 2Pac, Suge Knight’s Heads

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Nearly three decades after the murder of Tupac Shakur, new reports are once again tying Sean “Diddy” Combs to the infamous crime, as allegations surrounding his alleged role resurface ahead of Duane “Keefe D” Davis’ upcoming trial.

According to a 2025 DEA document obtained by USA Today, statements originally made by Keefe D in 2008 and 2009 police interviews have reemerged, once again raising Diddy’s name.

Davis, an admitted former leader of the South Side Compton Crips, previously alleged that Combs placed a $1 million bounty on Shakur’s life, though he insists the payment was never delivered.

John Lamparski/WireImage

Davis claimed Combs expressed his ill will towards Shakur and Death Row Records founder Marion “Suge” Knight, saying something to the effect of: “He would give anything for those dudes’ heads.”

While Combs has never been charged or even named a suspect by Las Vegas authorities, the allegations have persisted over the years. Former Bad Boy security guard Gene Deal has repeatedly suggested that Eric “Von Zip” Martin may have facilitated the alleged transaction, even encouraging investigators to look for a paper trail.

For his part, Combs has vehemently denied any involvement. Mopreme Shakur, Tupac’s brother, has also confirmed that the mogul once personally called him in the 2000s to clear his name. “The boy Puffy called me though,” Mopreme told The Art of Dialogue.

“Puffy called me back in the day. … He was like, ‘I just want you to know I ain’t have nothing to do with your brother’s [murder]. I know who you are, but we never met and I just want to call you man to man and let you know that I ain’t have nothing to do with your brother’s death.’”

Shakur was shot multiple times in a drive-by on the night of September 7, 1996, while riding in a BMW driven by Knight near the Las Vegas Strip. He succumbed to his injuries six days later, on September 13, at just 25 years old.

The killing, along with the subsequent 1997 murder of Pac’s rival, The Notorious B.I.G., has remained one of hip-hop’s most enduring mysteries, fueling decades of speculation, theories, and accusations.

Meanwhile, Keefe D was arrested in September 2023 and charged with one count of murder with a deadly weapon. Prosecutors allege that he acted as the “on-ground, on-site commander” who “ordered the death” of Tupac.

His trial is currently scheduled to begin on February 9, 2026, ensuring that Shakur’s tragic murder—and the cloud of speculation surrounding it—remains at the center of hip-hop’s most haunting, unsolved case.

Miles Davis’ Catalog Acquired by Reservoir Media

Miles Davis’ Catalog Acquired by Reservoir Media

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Next year would have marked Miles Davis’ 100th birthday. In advance of the centennial, independent music rights company Reservoir Media has struck a deal with the Miles Davis estate to acquire 90 percent of Davis’ music publishing rights and the estate’s income from his catalog, according to The New York Times. Reservoir and the estate will share control of Davis’ name and likeness. Terms of the acquisition have not been made public, though the Times estimates Reservoir to have paid between $40 and $60 million.

Reservoir has also outlined plans for a celebration of Davis’ centennial in 2026. These include a previously announced biopic centered on Davis’ love affair with French singer Juliette Gréco—Mick Jagger is among the film’s producers—an international tour by the former Miles Electric Band, now known as M.E.B., and a four-night “Miles Davis Centennial Celebration” to take place at San Francisco’s SFJazz center this March.

Reservoir currently administers the publishing catalogs of Snoop Dog and Joni Mitchell, among others, as well as the rights to songs by Sheryl Crow, the Isley Brothers, Offset, and Sonny Rollins. In 2021, the company purchased hip-hop and electronic label Tommy Boy Music, which led to De La Soul’s full discography being made available on streaming for the first time. Sony Music has confirmed to Music Business Worldwide that it retains the recorded music rights to Davis’ albums released between 1955 and 1985.

“With Reservoir, there’s a real respect for Miles—his music, his style and his cultural impact. That means a lot to us” Davis’ nephew Vince Willburn Jr. shared on behalf of the estate in a press statement. “This partnership gives us the chance to elevate his legacy in new ways, and to ensure that his influence continues to inspire.”

Reservoir founder and CEO Golnar Khosrowshahi added:

Miles Davis is one of the most influential musicians of all time, and it is an incredible honor that his catalog has found a home at Reservoir. We are deeply grateful to the entire Miles Davis Estate–Cheryl, Erin, Vince, Darryl and Jeff–for entrusting us with this responsibility.” She added, “This moment is also a recognition of Reservoir’s proven commitment and capability to preserve legacies and reignite discovery of legendary artists on modern platforms, like streaming and social media. As we head into his centennial year, we look forward to showcasing Miles’ brilliance to new audiences, ensuring his music continues to be heard and celebrated worldwide.
