Members of Pussy Riot sentenced to jail in Russia for anti-war performances

by jummy84 September 16, 2025
written by jummy84

Five members of Pussy Riot have been sentenced in absentia to prison in Russia on charges relating to anti-war performances that critiqued the country’s military actions.

  • Read More: Who are Pussy Riot? A guide to the Russian activist group who crashed the World Cup Final

Reports from Mediazona – the outlet co-founded by band members in the feminist punk collective – which Rolling Stone later corroborated, revealed the members sentenced included Maria Alyokhina, Diana Burkot, Taso Pletner, Olga Borisova, and Alina Petrova.

The jail terms handed down at Moscow’s Basmanny District Court ranged from eight to 13 years, with the charges stemming from a December 2022 music video titled ‘Mama, Don’t Watch TV’, which authorities alleged spread “false information” about the Russian military killing Ukrainian civilians, as well as a later performance held in April 2024. Pussy Riot were in Munich, Germany, at that time, and one member had reportedly urinated on a portrait of Vladimir Putin.

Through the band’s legal representatives, the five Pussy Riot members rejected the charges, claiming the trial and sentences are politically motivated in a statement given to Rolling Stone.

Burkot said that as the writer behind the music heard in ‘Mama, Don’t Watch TV’, she stood “by every single word, and my anti-war stance is clear.”

“The full-scale war against Ukraine has been going on for more than three years. And I continue to believe: Ukraine must win, and Putin must face trial in The Hague,” Burkot added. “The Russian government is a textbook example of patriarchy — the worst kind of abuser: a tyrant, a narcissist, a gaslighter, a toxic manipulator who lives off the destruction of others’ will.”

She  then urged “every person in this world to use their voice,” and went on to say that collective activism was the only way to “resist and overcome the crisis of democracy”.

Burkot said that thankfully, the Russian government has “no access to my physical body,” but that “even if I were in Russia, I would say the same thing: go fuck yourself.”

Pussy Riot first gained notoriety for their 2012 protest piece, ‘A Punk Prayer’, which was a response to accusations of electoral fraud and rigging in Putin’s re-election. The protest resulted in the imprisonment of members Alyokhina and Nadya Tolokonnikova, though they were released early in light of an amnesty bill passed shortly before Russia hosted the 2014 Winter Olympics.

Since then, members of the collective have staged multiple protests, including a performance at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, a pitch invasion during the 2018 World Cup Finals, and at the Indiana State Capitol, in response to the US Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade in June 2022. The same year, Tolokonnikova released the debut Pussy Riot mixtape ‘Matriarchy Now’.

In 2023, the Pussy Riot collective were awarded with the Woody Guthrie Prize. Tolokonnikova has also teamed up with various artists over the last few years, including a single with Avenged Sevenfold, a collaboration with Nova Twins, and a whole mixtape executive produced by Tove Lo, which featured guest spots from Salem Ilese, Big Freedia, Hudson Mohawke and iLoveMakonnen.

A scripted television series about Pussy Riot was also announced in 2023 by Nadya Tolokonnikova, who expressed her ambition with the show to “inspire a new generation of rebels”.

Get out your wallets, the Coachella 2026 lineup has just been announced! On Monday, the music festival shared the full lineup for next year’s edition, scheduled for April 10-12 and 17-19. Sabrina Carpenter, Karol G, Anyma, and Justin Bieber will be the headliners for next year’s edition.

Carpenter — who just released her latest album, Man’s Best Friend, and is set to hit the road this fall — will lead Friday with XX, Disclosure, Ethel Cain, Teddy Swims, Devo, Sexyy Red, Central Cee, and girl groups BINI and Katseye performing earlier in the day among a packed slate of top artists.

Bieber shared the lineup on Instagram alongside a lyric from Swag II track, “Yukon.” On Saturday, he’ll be joined by the likes of Rolling Stone‘s February cover artist Addison Rae, Sombr, David Byrne, and PinkPantheress.

Sunday with Karol will see the Colombian superstar cap each week with Anyma presenting his Æden project, while Young Thug, Kaskade, Laufey, Iggy Pop, FKA Twigs, and a slew of other major performers will also take the stage.

Tickets for the festival are on sale now. General admission entry starts at $549 for Weekend Two and $649 for Weekend One, while VIP tickets cost $1,199 for Weekend Two and $1,299 for Weekend One.

Last year’s music festival saw Lady Gaga, Post Malone, and Green Day taking on the festival as headliners, with Travis Scott performing at a special after-hours headlining, “designs the desert,” slot.

Trending Stories

While this is the first time the headliners lead the lineup, they’ve all hit the Coachella stage before. Bieber joined Tems during her set last year to perform “Essence” with WizKid, and he also appeared alongside Ariana Grande when she headlined Coachella in 2019. Karol G took the main stage in 2022, bringing out Becky G as a guest. And in 2024, Carpenter played a sunset set on the main stage, manifesting her return as a headliner during her performance.

Rolling Stone broke the news on Carpenter and Karol’s headlining slots last week.

Every Electronic Artist Playing Coachella 2026

by jummy84 September 16, 2025
written by jummy84

Musical Christmas has come exceptionally early, with Coachella dropping its 2026 lineup on a seemingly unremarkable Monday night (Sept. 15) in September.

This surprisingly early Coachella talent announcement includes its regular roster of pop superstar headliners, with Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber and Karol G taking top billing among dozens of other genre spanning acts.

And as always, there’s a long list of electronic artists playing the festival. The name in the biggest font is Anyma, whose mention is floating at the bottom of the poster in a position that in previous years has been reserved for artists including Travis Scott, Calvin Harris and Swedish House Mafia, all of whom played the mainstage in their respective years.

Meanwhile Boys Noize, who’s been opening for Nine Inch Nails on their current Peel It Back tour, will play alongside the industrial lords as Nine Inch Noize. Major Lazer will play Coachella for the first time in years and Kaskade, Disclosure and Solomun will also get big looks, with their names on the lineup’s upper levels.

Dance acts typically play across most of Coachella’s myriad stages, composing the entire daily lineups for the club-focused Yuma tent, getting marquee spots in Sahara and often also playing on the Outdoor Stage, the Mojave and Gobi tents and occasionally the mainstage as well.

Additionally, the Quasar stage that debuted at Coachella in 2024 and hosts extended b2b sets typically announces its lineups (which in the past two years have been different for each weekend of the festival) much closer to the event in April, as does the the Do Lab stage, an electronic music nexus that’s been a Coachella staple since the festival’s earliest years.

Coachella returns to Indio, Calif., over two weekends April 10-12 and 17-19, 2026. These are all the electronic artists currently on the lineup.

Elton John Reveals How He Turned Kneecaps Into Gold Jewelry

by jummy84 September 16, 2025
written by jummy84

Leave it to Elton John to turn a tough situation into gold — literally. In the trailer for his new documentary short film, Touched by Gold, he reveals how he turned both of his kneecaps into wearable gold jewelry. Watch the trailer below.

“When I had my kneecaps removed, the left one first and then the right, I asked my surgeon if I could keep the kneecaps, which he was rather startled about,” the pop icon stated in an exclusive clip provided to Us Weekly, going on to add that he gave jewelry designer Theo Fennell the artistic liberty to do “what you want with them” after his double knee replacement.

The designer then explained how his team “baked” John’s kneecaps to “dry them out,” a process that renders the bones into a porous, pumice stone-like texture, allowing them to be painted with acetate and polished.

Related Video

“My surgeon said I had the worst knees he’s ever operated on,” John said, revealing that his right patella was transformed into a gold-plated necklace. “That hole was actually in my kneecap. It looks a bit like an old artifact from Egypt.”

The singer added that Fennell made the transformation even more special, as he “brilliantly had the necklace chain made out of bones.” Making the piece complete is an engraving of a Latin phrase that translates to, “I will no longer bow to any man.” According to Fennell, that’s something “you can’t do with a kneecap missing.”

Since they couldn’t do “so much with it,” John’s left knee was turned into a brooch. “I honestly think these are timeless pieces that will last for centuries,” the pop superstar added.

“Gold is timeless,” John emphasizes in the trailer. “It’s a constant reminder of how beautiful things can look.”

Touched by Gold is out now on the World Gold Council’s official website.

John can currently be seen in the long-awaited This is Spinal Tap sequel, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues. He’s also featured on the new movie’s companion album, appearing on the songs “(Listen to The) Flower People” and “Stonehenge.”

Billionaire Boys Club’s NYFW Mantra Market Event: See Photos

by jummy84 September 16, 2025
written by jummy84

Billionaire Boys Club set the tone for New York Fashion Week 2025 with a packed house full of creatives and fashion lovers looking to support local designers. With Mantra Market, the storied fashion brand teamed up with Buchanan’s to restore the NYFW feeling by “returning it to the community and celebrating fashion as a cultural luxury rooted in creativity, community, and connection, not corporate trends.” And it’s safe to say the mission was nailed.

Held at the New York Flagship in location in SoHo on Sept. 11, the Mantra Market showroom was open to the public following a dedicated Buchanan’s cocktail press hour. Among the sea of 500+ RSVPs and attendees, notable guests who stopped by included Tia Corinne, Love Island USA S7 finalists Bryan Arenales and Pepe Garcia, Zoe Spencer, Erica Banks, and many others.

The curated shopping experience and social mixer highlighted eight artists and their creations. The evening doubled as a surreal full circle moment for each designer, as they reminisced about the times they were young, hopeful creatives waiting for their moment.

“The teenage version of me is screaming right now. When I was younger, I used to come over here and just look at the stuff they had and be like, ‘Damn, one day I’ma cop this.’ But I couldn’t afford it. And now we’re here selling stuff,” said Omi, the owner of STFU, while standing in front of his display of pieces. The BBC event also had the Bronx native in his element, as he noted, “It’s a lot of uptown people in here, so I feel at home.”

Keem of KeemStudios echoed, “This is a dream come true. The little kid inside of me is going crazy right now. I didn’t expect any of this to happen so I’m always humbled every time. I’m just having fun, and everything that comes with it is a blessing.” Keem has had his pieces worn by celebs like SZA, kwn, Sydney Colson, Flau’Jae Johnson, and more. His mantra to success is to “have fun with it chase your dreams, and keep going, because consistency really does work.”

Stationed in the middle of the store was Sporty, the vibrant creative behind Star Club with designs that match her infectiously bright personality. On this day, she’s thinking of her doubters, revealing, “My biggest inspiration is being bigger than everybody that said I couldn’t do it. It’s my first pop-up and shoutout to BBC and New York Fashion Week. I just dropped my first collection in April and now we’re here. This feels amazing because I was just doing it because I loved it, and now, to be highlighted and actually selling the clothes, with my peers, just got to keep it going.”

BBC launched Mantra Market with a mission to honor the next wave of NYC-based creatives aligned with the ethos of Billionaire Boys Club. As the night went on, the energy within the building exploded through the storefront and onto Mercer Street, once the heart of streetwear and street art. Hundreds of fashion lovers mobbed the area and celebrated a night of creativity and community, just like NYFW is supposed to be.

The full list of spotlighted artists are as follows:

SPRTYK (@sprtyk) – Bronx native, multidisciplinary creative behind Star Club; designer, stylist & musician shaping culture on her own terms.

KeemStudios (@keemstudios) – Brooklyn-born, Black-owned brand that blends culture, storytelling, and style; designs featured on SZA’s recent tour.

collabs with Nike, GQ & Complex and community ties to A$AP Ferg, Gabriel Moses, and more.

city’s most in-demand artists.

Coachella 2026 Lineup: Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, Karol G, the Strokes, and More

by jummy84 September 16, 2025
written by jummy84

The 2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival lineup has been unveiled. Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, and Karol G are heading to the desert next year as the festival’s headliners, topping the two-weekend bill in Indio, California, on April 10-12 and 17-19. Also slated to perform are Young Thug, the XX, Turnstile, David Byrne, FKA twigs, Addison Rae, Ethel Cain, and dozens more. See the festival poster below.

Rounding out the Coachella 2026 lineup are Alex G, PinkPantheress, Iggy Pop, Givēon, Little Simz, Devo, Blood Orange, Geese, Dijon, Wet Leg, Oklou, Black Flag, Disclosure, Sexyy Red, Katseye, Moby, Joyce Manor, Lykke Li, CMAT, Wednesday, Model/Actriz, Ceremony, Bedouin, Lambrini Girls, Fakemink, Jane Remover, Drain, and the Rapture. Plus, the bottom of the poster lists “The Bunker Debut of Radiohead Kid A Mnesia.” Passes go on sale this Friday, September 19 at 1 p.m. Eastern.

As rumored, Carpenter returns to the desert after making her debut in 2024, now promoted up the billing after the whirlwind success of her albums Short n’ Sweet and Man’s Best Friend. She is set to close out 2025 with a string of dates including residencies in New York and Los Angeles. She also has a smattering of South American festivals booked in the months leading up to Coachella.

This will be Bieber’s first-ever headlining set at Coachella. Although he’s been a guest performer joining other artists onstage—Ariana Grande, Daniel Caesar, Chance the Rapper, and Tems and Wizkid—four times at the festival, Bieber has never actually performed at Coachella as a billed artist before. This set will also mark his first live concert in over three years, with his last show taking place in September 2022. Bieber is coming armed with his guest-heavy records Swag and Swag II, both of which came out this year.

This is also Karol G’s second stop at the Indio festival, following the Colombian superstar’s 2022 debut appearance. Her latest album, Tropicoqueta, came out last June, and, as things stand, the Coachella set is scheduled to be her first full live show behind the album. In early September, she performed at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo, Brazil, as the halftime act at the NFL game between Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers.

Last year’s Coachella headliners were Lady Gaga, Green Day, Post Malone, and Travis Scott, with Green Day and Scott both squeezed in on the Saturday night. Others on that bill included Charli XCX—who brought out Billie Eilish, Lorde, and Troye Sivan—and Clairo, who got a Bernie Sanders introduction, but not the visa-beleaguered FKA twigs or Massive Attack, who turned down a slot after lamenting the festival’s environmental impact.

Bad Bunny to livestream final Puerto Rico residency show on Prime Video for free

by jummy84 September 16, 2025

Bad Bunny will livestream his upcoming final Puerto Rico residency show on Prime Video – see all the details below.

  • READ MORE: Bad Bunny – ‘Debí Tirar Más Fotos’ review: ode to homeland is a new high for the Puerto Rican star

Last night, the rapper and Amazon’s Prime Video announced that the final show of his ongoing Puerto Rico ‘No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí’ residency – which was recently announced for September 20 – will livestream for free across the Amazon Music app, the Amazon Music channel on Twitch and Prime Video for Amazon Prime members.

Additionally, a trailer for the upcoming livestream – consisting of footage filmed at past shows on the historic residency – has been revealed. Check it out below.

The ‘No Me Quiero Ir De Aquí’, which kicked off on July 11 and was scheduled to end on September 14, has since been extended for one final show on September 20. That show, like the first nine dates of the residency, is reserved exclusively for Puerto Rico residents.

Bad Bunny has since announced a ‘Debí Tirar Más Fotos’ 2025/2026 world tour, that will see him visit Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Australia and will include two massive dates at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London in June 2026.

He has also admitted that he won’t be touring the US during the forthcoming world tour due to fears over ICE agents raiding his concerts. Immigration raids through ICE since Donald Trump became president have soared in the US with the agency aiming for 3,000 minimum arrests a day since May. It also comes after the rapper said he previously witnessed an ICE raid in Puerto Rico in June.

Bad Bunny’s upcoming tour will be his first time arriving back to Europe since 2019, and his first time in Latin America since 2022. It will also be the rapper’s live debut in countries like Australia, Brazil and Japan.

In a five-star review of ‘Debí Tirar Más Fotos’, NME shared: “On ‘Debí Tirar Más Fotos’, Benito revolutionises Puerto Rico’s folk music and reclaims his reggaeton throne with game-changing fusions that are authentic to him and what he believes in.”

Nick Cannon Says He Was 'Being Careless' After Having 12 Kids

Nick Cannon Says He Was ‘Being Careless’ After Having 12 Kids

by jummy84 September 16, 2025
written by jummy84

Nick Cannon is feeling reflective as he looks back at his past relationships. In a new interview with The Breakfast Club, Cannon spoke about his decision to be a father of 12, and why his approach to fatherhood may have been born as a trauma response.

“It wasn’t like I was acting out. It was more of being careless, being frivolous with my process because I could do it, because I had the money [and] because I had the access to whoever and however I wanted to move,” he said on the radio show. “Then, obviously, life happens as well, so it wasn’t like, ‘Oh, I’m gonna go have 12 kids.’ It was more like, ‘Yo, I’m gonna just live life and have fun and whatever happens happens. I can handle it.’”

Now that Cannon is nearing 45 years old, he said that he could see himself having a different thought process and should have taken more “time to actually do the inner work.” However, he explained to co-host Charlamagne tha God that all his children were “made out of love” and during strong relationships, and that he’s “learning now” that having so many kids was a “response to trauma.”

“If I would have did the work [and] the healing after getting divorced, I probably would have took my time in a lot of other scenarios, and for whatever reason, I thought that was the answer a lot of times, like, ‘Oh, I’m gonna figure it out over here,’” he said. “Now, you’re leaving trauma every step of the way instead of fixing it from its origin.”

Cannon also spoke about his relationship with Mariah Carey after their divorce, and said he’s focused on keeping things “healthy.” He admitted he felt “like a complete failure” after the split, but added, “It was a tough decision, but I wouldn’t change it. It was the right decision.”

The new interview comes several months after he told People in March that he’d be “pressing hold” on having more kids, but made clear that he was “not against” having more in the future.

Cannon shares twins Moroccan and Monroe with Mariah Carey; Golden, Rise, and Powerful with Brittany Bell; twins Zion and Zillion, and daughter Beautiful with Abby de la Rosa; son Legendary with Bre Tiesi; daughter Onyx with LaNisha Cole; and daughter Halo with Alyssa Scott, with whom he also had a son, Zen, who died in Dec. 2021 at five months old.

Calvin Harris Says Financial Adviser Stole $22M Via Real Estate Fraud

Calvin Harris Says Financial Adviser Stole $22M Via Real Estate Fraud

by jummy84 September 16, 2025
written by jummy84

Calvin Harris is taking legal action against his longtime financial adviser for allegedly duping him into investing $22.5 million in a doomed real estate project “to simply steal” funds from the star DJ.

The allegations are revealed in new court documents filed Friday (Sept. 12) by Harris (Adam Wiles) against Thomas St. John, the Scottish music producer’s financial adviser of over a decade. Harris filed a petition to enforce a temporary injunction in his ongoing arbitration against St. John, and in the process, publicized the details of that private arbitration, which has been taking place behind closed doors since June.

Related

Harris’ June 28 arbitration demand, obtained by Billboard, levels more than a dozen civil claims against St. John and a group of alleged co-conspirators, including breach of contract, fraud and malpractice.

“Out of necessity, Mr. Wiles surrounds himself with professionals, including TSJ, in whom Mr. Wiles placed his trust to ensure his earnings are protected, his investments are smart, and his family and future are secure,” reads the arbitration demand. “However, instead of acting in Mr. Wiles’s best interests, TSJ and the other respondents completely and absolutely breached that trust.”

According to the documents, St. John bought a tract of land in Hollywood in 2021 with plans to develop a recording studio and creative office space. Harris says St. John later became strapped for cash and took advantage of their relationship to sign $22.5 million over to the project in the DJ’s name in 2023.

Of this $22.5 million investment, $10 million was in the form of a loan, which St. John allegedly never paid back. The other $12.5 million was an equity stake in the real estate project — but Harris says this investment “has been, at best, a complete boondoggle, and, at worst, a complete fraud.”

“Mr. Wiles has not received a single penny in return for that investment, and, indeed, respondents have not even started developing or building the project,” reads the arbitration demand. “In fact, shortly after Mr. Wiles purportedly made this $12.5 million investment, TSJ … distributed over $11 million dollars to himself.”

Harris says he has “no idea what exactly happened” with his money. According to the petition, St. John has since shifted the focus of his real estate project away from a recording studio and toward a residential development.

In early August, retired judge Michael R. Wilner was appointed to oversee the dispute as an arbitrator. Harris and St. John agreed on a temporary injunction that freezes certain assets while the matter is litigated, leading Harris to file the court petition on Friday seeking to confirm and enforce this injunction.

A lawyer for St. John, Sasha Frid, says in a statement provided to Billboard on Monday (Sept. 15) that his client “denies any wrongdoing” and that Harris “actively pursued” an investment in the Hollywood real estate project.

“Unhappy with the pace of the project, he chose to pursue private arbitration to assert his discontent,” says Frid. “It’s no secret that due to interest rates and other market factors real estate projects are taking longer to build. But the development is very much viable and expected to have a $900+ million valuation when completed.”

Reps for Harris did not immediately return a request for comment.
