The Cure to Perform Huge 2026 U.K. and Ireland Outdoor Shows

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

The Cure will headline a series of massive outdoor shows in the U.K. and Ireland next summer.

The run of dates is scheduled to kick off in Dublin’s Marlay Park on June 26, before continuing on to Belfast’s Belsonic at Ormeau Park (June 28), Wythenshawe Park in Manchester (Aug. 21) and a night at the Royal Highland Showgrounds (Aug. 23) as part of the Edinburgh Summer Sessions. See the full trek below.

Tickets for all shows go on sale this Friday (Oct. 3) at 9 a.m. (BST) via The Cure’s official website, while fans who have previously signed up to the band’s mailing list will be given access to the pre-sale information.

Support for each of the shows will alternate between Mogwai, The Twilight Sad, Slowdive, Just Mustard, Stella and the Dreaming, and The Slow Readers Club.

In addition to the newly-announced gigs, The Cure are set to headline the Isle of Wight Festival next summer, as well as European festivals including Primavera Sound, Nova Rock, and Rock en Seine.

Last fall, The Cure released fourteenth studio album Songs of a Lost World, which topped the Official U.K. Albums Chart and landed at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 – their highest-charting effort in the US since 1992’s Wish. The record reached the summit on five alternate Billboard charts: Top Rock & Alternative Albums, Top Rock Albums, Top Alternative Albums, Vinyl Albums and Indie Store Album Sales.

Frontman Robert Smith told the Official Charts Company at the time: “It is enormously uplifting, genuinely heartwarming to experience such a wonderful reaction to the release of the new Cure album. To everyone who has bought it, listened to it, loved it, believed in us over the years – thank you!”

Songs of a Lost World marked the legendary act’s first full-length record in 16 years. They performed it in full at Troxy in east London on release day, as well as two shows at the BBC Radio Theatre.

In June, meanwhile, Smith joined Olivia Rodrigo on stage during her Glastonbury Festival headline slot. Rodrigo introduced him as “a personal hero” and “perhaps the best songwriter to come out of England” before the pair duetted on two anthems by The Cure: “Friday I’m In Love” and “Just Like Heaven.”

The Cure U.K. and Ireland 2026 tour dates:

  • June 26: Dublin, Ireland @ Marlay Park
  • June 28: Belfast, Northern Ireland @ Belsonic, Ormeau Park
  • August 21: Manchester, England @ Wythenshawe Park
  • August 23: Edinburgh, Scotland @ Summer Sessions, the Royal Highland Showgrounds

Taylor Swift Interpolates George Michael’s “Father Figure” on The Life of a Showgirl

by jummy84 October 1, 2025

Taylor Swift is taking it back to the big ’80s.

As confirmed by Billboard, the pop star has interpolated George Michael’s 1987 hit single, “Father Figure,” on a song of the same name that appears on her upcoming new album, The Life of a Showgirl.

The George Michael original shot to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1988. It was the fourth single from Michael’s blockbuster debut solo album, Faith.

The news of Swift’s interpolation of Michael’s song comes after weeks of speculation, and with her The Life of a Showgirl album set for release this Friday, October 3rd. Michael’s longtime partner, Kenny Goss, told TMZ that the pop legend would have fully approved of his music being recalled in such a way.

Thanks to a resurgence on TikTok, Michael’s “Father Figure” will be a relevant and welcome presence on Swift’s new song.

This won’t be the first time Swift has tipped her hat to Michael; back in 2007, she covered Wham!’s perennial “Last Christmas” on The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection EP.

Melody’s Echo Chamber Sees ‘Stars’

written by jummy84

French musician Melody Prochet’s fourth album as Melody’s Echo Chamber, Unclouded, will arrive Dec. 5 from Domino Records and, as previously reported, was produced and co-written with Swedish musician Sven Wunder. A new song, “In the Stars,” is out now.

“The music I create unusually inhabits the liminal zone between realism and fables,” says Prochet. “But the more experience I have of living, the deeper I love life and the less I need to escape. If my heart still belongs to the blue hour, it also feels like I’ve gathered up all the pieces of myself that were scattered everywhere and glued them together with gold like Japanese kintsugi.”

In addition to Wunder and his partner, multi-instrumentalist Josefin Runsteen, Unclouded boasts contributions from Leon Michels’ El Michels Affair, Dina Ögon’s Daniel Ögen and Love Orsan, Heliocentrics drummer Malcolm Catto and Dungen guitarist Reine Fiske.

“It is a little bit outside of the Sven sound, but I think people will be able to hear that I had some part in the making of it,” Wunder recently told SPIN of Unclouded. “We had a bit of a different way to compose songs, but it turned out really nice. It was a really fun experience because to work with such a vocalist is something I haven’t done that much. Sometimes we would bang our heads, but she always knew where she was heading.”

Prochet will support the album with a 2026 tour, beginning April 14 in Berlin and concluding May 23 in Seattle.

Here are Melody’s Echo Chamber’s tour dates:

April 14 – Lido, Berlin, DE
April 15 – VEGA, Copenhagen, DK
April 17 – Botanique, Orangerie, Brussels, BE
April 18 – Gebäude 9, Cologne, DE
April 19 – Tolhuistuin, Amsterdam, NL
April 21 – Electric Ballroom, London, UK
April 22 – L’Aéronef, Lille, FR
April 23 – Le Trianon, Paris, FR
April 24 – Stereolux, Nantes, FR
April 25 – Le 106, Rouen, FR
May 9 – TBA, Austin, TX
May 11 – Thalia Hall, Chicago, IL
May 12 – Black Cat, Washington, DC
May 13 – Union Transfer, Philadelphia, PA
May 14 – Royale, Boston, MA

Young Thug Says He’ll “Never Look At Gunna The Same No Matter What”

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

Young Thug has opened up a bit further about his rift with his longtime friend and collaborator, Gunna.

On Monday’s (Sept. 29) episode of the It’s Up There Podcast, the Atlanta rapper spoke candidly about their fractured relationship, revealing that the bond they once shared is irreparable now following their two-year YSL RICO case.

Thug served two years in jail, while Gunna spent seven months behind bars after pleading guilty to racketeering charges. “I’m not gonna be able to look at [Gunna] the same no matter what,” Thug told the host. “We can go get a trillion dollars together. I’m not gonna be able to look at you the way I looked at you before we went to jail.”

Once inseparable, the two artists’ relationship hit a turning point after Gunna was allowed to leave jail only after acknowledging that YSL functioned as a gang. Thug, meanwhile, remained incarcerated until October 2024, when he reached his own plea agreement.

“I love you to death,” Thug admitted about Gunna. “I know you love me. We love each other to death, but we just going our own ways.”

Both rappers were among 28 individuals swept up in a 2022 RICO indictment, which prosecutors described as “targeting a hybrid entity” — part record label, part street gang. The case dragged on for nearly two years, becoming one of the longest criminal trials in Georgia history.

“The only reason why I’m looking at it like some bullsh*t is because you my brother,” Thug said speaking indirectly to Wunna. “On top of that, you my man, you my best friend.” Though he emphasized that he has no resentment towards him, Thug admitted that Gunna’s plea felt like a betrayal of their bond.

“It ain’t even no sense for you to trying to be back cool with me because we gonna be around each other and it’s gonna be weird,” he added. “The dap-up gonna be different, everything gon’ be different ’cause I already look at it like a different situation.” Despite the tension, Thug insists he’s not rooting against his former friend. “I still want you to eat, just not at my table,” he clarified.

The “Slat” rhymer made it clear that if he was to be around Gunna and “happy” he’ll “just feel like a f**k ni**a.” He explained, “I’mma feel like not a real person. I gotta be real, bruh.”

Take a look at his latest remarks on his relationship with Gunna below.

Doja Cat: Vie Album Review

Doja Cat: Vie Album Review

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

Doja, born in 1995 and influenced by 2000s radio, doesn’t have a deep attachment to the era. There are no explicit tributes to ’80s idols, although she has cited Nina Hagen as an inspiration. (Hagen is “a hot girl who isn’t trying to just be a hot girl,” Doja told The New York Times. “She has layers to her.” Preach.) The rapper’s main idea about the decade is essentially that it was a time when girls just wanted to have fun—a message very compatible with the Doja Cat experience. Swinging synth-funk cut “Take Me Dancing,” another team-up with SZA, presents clubgoing as the perfect post-coital digestif. “You’re so raw, boy, and you’re so romantic/When you fuck me right, and then you take me dancing,” Doja sings on the hook, skipping across the roller-rink-ready beat in her airy upper register. She’s just as loose and fun-forward on the slow jam “All Mine,” cooing and harmonizing with herself over gleaming synths and keys. For Doja, the ’80s is a whole vibe.

That fuzzy connection to the decade mostly makes for a breezy listen, but Doja runs into trouble when the pastiche boxes her in. Her singing and rapping are uncharacteristically binary on most songs, notably “Jealous Type” and R&B track “Acts of Service,” where the cool melodies mostly keep time until Doja spits. This has never been a problem in her music before, but here when she switches from rapping to singing, it can feel as if she’s featuring herself rather than changing direction. All her expression and color seems to get reserved for the rhymes.

That’s the case on the groovy “Couples Therapy,” which features some of her deftest singing but really erupts with personality once she starts rapping. “Cussing you out, you the one I resent/Cussing you out, I delete and re-send/Sorry, I got three selves, one’s 12/Sorry, you gave me hell once felt/Sorry, honeymoon phase over now,” Doja raps, her repeated pauses and phrases mirroring a back-and-forth with a partner. She’s worked to close the distance between her rapping and singing, but Vie’s retro framework sharpens the disparity; the emphasis on homage seems to discourage Doja from filling these songs with the constant transitions that propel older tracks like “Need to Know” and “Talk Dirty.” Where on previous Doja Cat records every little melody and tic and punchline felt memorable, here it’s always the rap that stands out.

The exception is highlight “Make It Up,” which notably departs from the album’s retro aesthetic. Gliding across keys and bass kicks, Doja swings between melodic rapping and crooning while ad-libbing in both modes, the constant motion culminating in a quiet countermelody that accents the final hook and becomes the outro. It’s not an accident that it’s one of the stickiest songs. Although Doja clearly envisions Vie as her poppiest album, with ’80s pop as her aesthetic of choice, the record is most interesting when she’s ignoring such distinctions rather than embracing them. Pop rap has never been the oxymoron the heads want it to be; it’s just one of the genre’s infinite permutations. Doja could use the reminder.

Fifth Harmony Cheers on Lauren Jauregui’s ‘DWTS’ Performance

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

Lauren Jauregui had her Fifth Harmony sisters by her side at Dancing with the Stars on Tuesday night.

“It’s amazing that nine years later that this song is still going crazy,” Jauregui said, before adding of her bandmates: “They’re the best. Thank you, girls, for being here! I love you.”

Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane, and Normani watched on while Jauregui cha-cha’d to the group’s hit “Work From Home” with partner Brandon Armstrong to celebrate the show’s TikTok Night.

Jauregui and Armstrong wore yellow to match the construction-site aesthetic of the group’s viral music video. The stage mirrored that theme, with backup dancers in hard hats and construction gear. After finishing the routine, Jauregui walked over to join Ally, Dinah, and Normani — along with the group’s choreographer, Sean Bankhead — at a nearby table.

“I’ve been doing Fifth Harmony’s choreography for years, so introducing new dance moves to it is hard,” said Jauregui in a preview sequence to their dance. Jauregui ended up scorring 18 points out of 30 possible for her dance.

This isn’t the first time Fifth Harmony has made its mark on DWTS. Back in 2017, Normani competed on Season 24 and finished in third place, with the group performing “Impossible” as Normani danced the rumba to the ballad that launched the group’s career. Two years later, Ally Brooke joined Season 28, also landing in third. She kicked off the competition by dancing to “Work From Home” on opening night.

Before any of its members competed on DWTS, Fifth Harmony also performed “All in My Head (Flex)” during the finale of Season 23 in 2016 and “Worth It” during the finale of Season 22 in 2015.

“Normani and Ally both are so sweet, so excited for me,” Jauregui previously told People. “Normani was just like, ‘Have so much fun. Take it a step at a time, and just be as present as possible and enjoy it because it goes by really fast.’ And she was not wrong. This is so fast.”

Also competing with Jauregui on Season 34 of DWTS are Boy Meets World‘s Danielle Fishel, Pentatonix’s Scott Hoying, Olympic gold medalist Jordan Chiles, Hilaria Baldwin, Alix Earle, and Dylan Efron.

Trending Stories

Fifth Harmony reunited as a four-piece on Aug. 31 for the first time since their “indefinite hiatus” in 2017, performing hits “Work From Home” and “Worth It” during a Jonas Brothers’ show in Dallas, Texas.

Sonos continues to build popularity through its array of premium, immersive home audio speakers. The brands lineup ranges from theater-quality soundbars, music-enhancing stereo speakers, compact portable speakers and bass-pounding subwoofers. If you’re diving into the Sonos ecosystem, the best place to start is with the Era 300.

The versatile speaker delivers industry-leading sound quality for music lovers, but for film aficionado’s, this bluetooth speaker can also double as a great home theater surround sound device with seamless connection to other Sonos products. It may have an unusual shape compare to most speakers on the market, but its minimalistic design provides an eye-catching modern feel to enhance the space its in. Featuring Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers, you’ll quickly forget about its unique build and fully be consumed by its impressive surround sound and spatial audio capabilities.

Under the hood are six speaker drivers, four tweeters, and a couple of mid/bass drivers—all of which deliver detailed, big, and robust sound. Its most impressive feature, however, is spatial audio. The speakers sound spreads in all directions and for a substantial distance without lacking definition. If you opt for the Sonos companion app, you can adjust EQ, tune the speakers to your environment via the TruePlay feature, and pair other Sonos speakers together.

Pair With a Soundbar

To fully enhance the Era 300, pair it with the brand’s impressive soundbars to really immersive yourself in spatial audio. The brands most premium and most powerful soundbar, the Arc Ultra creates a massive soundstage that fills every inch of the room and precisely places sounds all around you. Featuring their signature Sound Motion technology, this soundbar packs clear, deep and balanced sound into an unbelievably compact design. Add in an Era 300 speaker or two, you’ll never need to go a movie theater again.

On the more affordable side, the Sonos Ray soundbar offers crisp dialogue and balanced stereo sound with forward-facing acoustics. At a more budget-friendly price point, enhance your shows, movies and video games for only $219. The Ray also pairs seamlessly with the Era 300 for a more premium surround sound experience.

Add in a Subwoofer

The cherry on top of your home theater set up is a subwoofer. If you’re in a smaller place like an apartment the Sonos Sub Mini is a great option. It’s also cheaper than its big brother the Sub 4 coming in at $499. If you’re wanting to add bold bass to your living space, this compact premium subwoofer features advanced processing that helps reproduce the full-toned bass of a much larger subwoofer but at a smaller scale. Its minimal footprint and unique cylindrical design fits nicely all around your home. For the best bass experience, pair it with the Sonos soundbar and the Era 300 speakers.

The month begins with a slew of new comedies being added, including the Austin Powers trilogy and the first three Beverly Hills Cop movies (now joining Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F on the service). Also, whether you consider them to be romance, comedy, or horror, the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy will also be available for streaming come October 1st.

Some of the big Netflix original series premiering in October include the second season of Nobody Wants This, starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, and the new dramedy Boots, about a closeted soldier in the 1990s going through Marine boot camp. There’s also a new doc series look into the life of Mrs. David Beckham with the three-part series Victoria Beckham, as well as a documentary film aiming to answer the question Who Killed the Montreal Expos?.

Sylvan Esso Unveil New Single, Cut Ties With Spotify

Sylvan Esso Unveil New Single, Cut Ties With Spotify

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

It’s an eventful day in the world of North Carolina indie duo Sylvan Esso, who have released their first single in three years, “WDID,” and pledged to remove their digital catalog from Spotify. The confrontational cut is the first to be released on their own label, Psychic Hotline.

“As we prepare to release new music, we have to decide what we want to be a part of and what we don’t,” Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn said in a statement. “To that end, with Sylvan Esso being on our own label for the first time, we have decided to remove our music from Spotify. While no solution is perfect, we simply can’t continue to put our life’s work in a store that, in addition to all its other glaring flaws, directly funds war machines.”

Sylvan Essso have been recording at their own Chapel Hill, N.C.-area studio with assistance from Jake Luppen. “WDID” will be backed by another new song, “KEEP ON,” when it is released as a 12-inch vinyl single on Jan. 9. The latter was “built from a week of improvisation” with bassist Daniel Aged and drummer TJ Maiani.

“She’s still kind of in zygote form,” Meath jokes with SPIN when asked how far along the new album is. “We’re doing a new thing where, instead of every other Sylvan Esso record where we’ve written 10 songs and those are the ones we’re recording, this time we’re writing a lot of them. We have about 30 or 40 ideas and we’re going to slowly work our way into finding 10 of them that we want to be on the record, which is so fun.”

Quizzed on the sound of the fresh material, Meath says, “we’ve been really delving into late ’90s breakbeat music. Lots of Boards of Canada, Beck’s Odelay and Madonna’s Ray of Light. A huge influence for me is Soul Coughing, who are wizards of sampling. We’re essentially creating those samples for ourselves and sampling ourselves on our own record.”

Meath has also dipped her toe into acting in the Taylor McFadden-directed Lovers, which premiered last year at the Denver International Film Festival.
