Yo La Tengo and Jad Fair Announce Strange but True Reissue

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

Yo La Tengo and Jad Fair have announced a reissue of their rare 1998 collaborative LP Strange but True. Long out-of-print and unavailable to stream, the album will be released on vinyl, CD, and, for the first time, digital platforms. All versions are set to arrive December 12 via Joyful Noise and Bar/None. Listen to “Texas Man Abducted By Aliens for Outer Space Joyride” below.

The songs on Strange but True are titled after headlines from the periodical Weekly World News, which were gathered by David Fair, Jad Fair’s brother and bandmate in Half Japanese. “When I started as a musician, I just wanted to sound like myself,” Jad Fair said in a press statement. “You would think that would be the easiest thing to do, but, for most people, it’s difficult.”

Yo La Tengo shared their latest studio album, This Stupid World, in 2023. They followed it up with an EP, Old Joy, earlier this year.

Read about Yo La Tengo’s 1997 album I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One at No. 73 on “The 150 Best Albums of the 1990s.”

Sports Team cancel European dates as they “couldn’t justify the financial risk”

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

Sports Team have cancelled some of their European dates due to not being able to “justify” the financial risks associated with putting on shows.

The band, who were meant to tour in European cities including Oslo, Berlin, Barcelona and Copenhagen this autumn, said that they will have to postpone some of these shows.

Announcing the news on Instagram, they shared that this is something that goes against “everything” they want to do, and apologised to fans for the impact of this decision.

“Cancelling shows goes against everything we want to do,” the statement said. “We’re a band because we love playing live. We once drove 24 hours through the night from London to get to a show in Munich. There were 12 people there and the next day we drove back to Birmingham for the next show. Nobody slept. Most of us cried. It was hell. I’d do it again tomorrow.

“We’ve done plenty of shows that haven’t made money. Touring as a six piece band is an extremely stupid business model. Normally we’re able to make things work, this time we couldn’t justify the financial risk.”

Sports Team confirmed they will still play Here’s The Thing Festival, Madrid, Paris and Antwerp, but said the “rest will have to come later”. All UK tour dates are scheduled to go ahead as planned.

Read the full statement below.

Sports Team are not the only band to have cancelled due to financial concerns. In July, Irish band The Murder Capital also cancelled the US and Canadian leg of their tour due to “unforeseen financial challenges” and uncertainty.

This, they explained, was due to financial struggles and uncertainties around travel. No replacement dates were scheduled.

“With heavy hearts, we have to cancel our tour this autumn due to unforeseen financial challenges and the ongoing travel uncertainties,” their statement read on social media. “This is a bitter pill to swallow. We hope you know how much we wanted to be out there playing these shows for ye all.”

It comes as the number of artists touring across the UK and abroad has fallen by as much as 74 per cent compared to pre-pandemic figures.  The country’s music scene continues to face the “complete collapse” of touring with huge areas going without live music, one venue closing every two weeks, and the uphill struggle for artists affording to exist, let alone play live.

A proposed £1 levy on gigs at arena level and above – designed to feed back into the grassroots for artists and promoters as well as venues and festivals – continues to gather steam, but debate surrounds its speed and where the pressure should be applied for more action.

This included a showing of the money made from show fees and merch sales, as well as outgoings including travel, haulage, accommodation, crew wages and essentials such as food.

In total, for the one-off gig that the band played at Dublin venue the Button Factory, they earned £6,151.59. However, they spent £7,863.88, resulting in a total loss of £1,712.29.

Back in May, Wolf Alice‘s Joff Oddie joined industry leaders at a government hearing into the state of UK grassroots music, where it was warned that not enough progress was being made in saving venues and new artists.

Last year, DJ Shadow shared his thoughts on the current touring crisis, saying the industry is close to “extinction”.

Additionally, back in 2022, various figures from the UK music industry spoke to NME about how the first summer of post-pandemic touring revealed that the complications of Brexit were “strangling the next generation of UK talent in the cradle”.

NME gave Sports Team’s latest album ‘Boys These Days’ four stars in a review. It commended its fun-spirited approach to tackling toxic masculinity, and by giving a distinct sound to the band.

“On ‘Boys These Days’, Sports Team flip the narrative of an increasingly stark, divided world to embrace the childlike side of human nature, staying true to that foundational principle of the band,” it read.

“Sonically, it’s a step up from the guitar-driven mayhem that characterised their roots, without just slapping some synths on top like many of their indie counterparts. In reality, they’ve never sounded closer to that wacky, eccentric live band down your local on a Friday night – and maybe that’s where their truest form lies.”

Bad Bunny Returns in Season 51 Premiere Promo

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

The trailer for the musician’s upcoming hosting gig, which will feature musical guest Doja Cat, introduces new cast member Veronika Slowikowska and features returning favorites

30 Rock isn’t Bad Bunny‘s house, but he knows his way around. In the latest trailer for Saturday Night Live‘s Season 51 premiere, the returning host gets a little too comfortable with the cast he worked with during his other appearances on the show and introduces new members to his chaos.

Bad Bunny last hosted SNL in October 2023, but returned earlier this year as musical guest and appeared in a few sketches for the hell of it — so you can’t blame him for feeling at home there. In the promo clip, he borrows Jane Wickline’s toothbrush (don’t worry, he let her know after he used it!) and volunteers newcomer Veronika Slowikowska’s apartment as a place for his friend to crash along with his baby and dog (they all bite, by the way).

During his first hosting gig, Bad Bunny bit back at criticisms that he wouldn’t be able to host since English is his second language. “I don’t know if they know,” he responded, “but I do whatever I want.” He’ll bring this same sentiment to the upcoming Oct. 4 episode, which features musical guest Doja Cat.

Trending Stories

He’ll also carry it all the way to the Super Bowl. Earlier this week, Bad Bunny was revealed to be the Super Bowl LX halftime show headliner. The history-making artist will be the first to deliver a fully non-English performance on the historic stage. “I’m really excited for my friends, my family,” he told Apple Music following the announcement. “Puerto Rico, all the Latino people around the world. I’m excited about my culture. I’m excited about everything, not just for me.”

After Bad Bunny kicks off Season 51, SNL will pass the baton to host Amy Poehler with musical guest Role Model, followed by Sabrina Carpenter‘s double-duty takeover as both host and musical guest.

Morgan Wallen Denies Throwing Chair From Bar’s Roof in Police Footage

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

Country music artist Morgan Wallen initially denied throwing a chair off the roof of Nashville bar Chief’s in 2024, according to police video footage obtained by The Associated Press.

The Metro Nashville Police Department released the footage from Wallen’s April 2024 arrest, after the AP filed a public records request. The video was taken through police car cameras and officers’ body cameras.

As shown in the body camera footage, officers are standing next to Wallen outside of the Chief’s bar on Broadway. An officer asks him what happened, and Wallen replies, “I don’t know.” The musician also tells an officer, “We’ve not tried to cause no problems, man. I don’t know what they are, I don’t know why.” The officer tells Wallen that the police were attempting to understand what happened after a chair fell from the bar’s rooftop and landed by the policeman’s patrol car. Wallen answers, “As you should.”

According to the video, officers “spoke to witnesses who identified Wallen as the one who threw the chair, and reviewed security cam footage.” Later footage shows the musician in the backseat of a patrol cruiser, and saying, “I ain’t done nothing wrong.” The footage also shows officers handcuffing him.

Billboard has reached out to reps for Wallen for comment.

Wallen was arrested on April 8, 2024, and briefly jailed after he threw a chair from the sixth-floor rooftop of the bar Chief’s on Lower Broadway in downtown Nashville. The chair reportedly landed a few feet away from where two Metro Nashville police officers were standing. The country star was charged with three counts of reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. In December 2024, Wallen pled guilty to two misdemeanor charges of reckless endangerment in Nashville court and was sentenced to two years’ probation and seven days in a DUI education center.

Nearly two weeks after Wallen’s arrest, he addressed the incident, writing on social media, “I didn’t feel right publicly checking in until I made amends with some folks. I’ve touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief’s. I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility…. I have the utmost respect for the officers working every day to keep us all safe. Regarding my tour, there will be no change. -MW”

Since that time, Wallen has seen his most recent album, I’m the Problem, spend a dozen nonconsecutive weeks atop the all-genre Billboard 200, and has regaled fans with his stadium-headlining I’m the Problem Tour this year.

Nicki Minaj, Cardi B’s Beef Escalates With Jabs At Each Other’s Kids

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

Cardi B and Nicki Minaj officially went nuclear on each other last night (Sept. 30) on X, following their first night of exchanging lyrical jabs, taunts, and allegations.

Night two of their feud saw the two rappers bringing each other’s children into the mix, after Cardi already warned the Queens icon to stop speaking about her kids — including her unborn baby.

“Alright now this the third tweet talkin about my pregnancy… like you wasn’t going to different fertility doctors cuz you couldn’t reproduce from all them [percocets] scrambling your egg. NOT ALLEGEDLY… Lord protect my babies,” the Am I The Drama? rapper fired back at Minaj’s allegations that she has “HPV and BV” while pregnant with her fourth child.

Lines were crossed again last night when Minaj took aim at the looks of Cardi’s eldest daughter, Kulture, and called her out her name. The 42-year-old dubbed the seven-year-old a “Kulture vulture” and added, “you ugly too.” The comment sent social media into overdrive as many debated whether there are still boundaries left in rap beef.

The “Safe” rhymer responded with fury, defending her daughter and flipping the focus onto Minaj’s family. “Bi**h you wish you could call my daughter ugly.. Kulture is beautiful and you know that,” she wrote. “Your hate is so deep dark and nasty because your son nonverbal cuz you messed him up wit them drugs so you jealous of everybody kids and their happiness!!!”

She also addressed Minaj’s five-year-old son directly, writing, “Papa Bear I’m sorry you can’t speak and banging spoons because your mom couldn’t put the drugs down,” referring to a prior video of the child innocently clashing spoons together. “I’m sorry your mom isn’t even paying attention to you on your own birthday cuz she’s such an obsessed and dark-spirited hating h*e. I’m so sorry.”

Cardi also called Papa Bear “slow” and noted that he walks on his “tippy toes,” which many suggested could be a sign of autism, though it is not a determining factor.

In arguably one of the most shocking posts of the night, Minaj called Kulture and Cardi’s youngest daughter, Blossom, a “monkey and roach,” something Cardi has been accused of calling other women in the past.

Some netizens even assumed that Minaj was suggesting that the 32-year-old should abort her unborn baby when she wrote, “Album flopped. Pu**y flopped. Never won a fight. Outrank you in your own gang. Stfu, come fight. Sympathy baby couldn’t pull 228K. Abort. Abort mission.”

Expanding on her fighting words, Minaj made it known she was currently in New York, and told Cardi to “come find her” after the Bronx star requested her address. “Trying to call me out to fight cuz I’m pregnant af… you NEVER have that energy when I see you in person!!!” Cardi pulled her card. “I seen you at two Met Gala’s and you never have that energy… BUT WHERE TF YOU AT???? MY N***** IS OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW WHERE TF YALL AT???”

Minaj never gave up the addy.

After a few more exchanges, both women appeared to call it a night, leaving fans stunned and debating what they had just witnessed.

Paul Bettany hasn’t watched ‘A Knight’s Tale’ because he misses Heath Ledger

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

Paul Bettany has admitted he hasn’t watched his breakthrough film A Knight’s Tale since it was first released because he misses late co-star Heath Ledger “too much”.

The WandaVision and Avengers star played English poet and writer Geoffrey Chaucer in the medieval 2001 action-comedy, which starred Ledger as William Thatcher, a peasant squire, fuelled by his desire for food and glory, who forges a new identity for himself as a knight when his master dies.

Ledger went on to be nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for his role in Brokeback Mountain in 2005 and he played the iconic Batman villain The Joker in Christopher Nolan’s 2008 blockbuster The Dark Knight. The actor died in January the same year, four months before the release of the film, after overdosing on prescription drugs. He was 28 years-old.

The late actor received a posthumous Oscar for his role in the film.

Speaking in a Q&A during an appearance over the weekend at the LA Comic Con, when asked if fans ever ask him to repeat some of his iconic lines from A Knight’s Tale, Bettany said: “It was a really long time ago. It was like another lifetime ago. And people do come up sometimes, people come up to me on the street and quote things at me, and I literally can’t remember. I can’t remember any of it.”

He added: “I saw [the film] when it first came out. I’ve never seen it again since. There are lots of reasons for that, and just one of them is that I miss Heath too much.”

Elsewhere, it was recently confirmed that Bettany is set to return as Marvel Studios’ Vision in the forthcoming Disney+ series Vision Quest, which is set for release in 2026.

Bettany last played Vision in the 2021 Disney+ series WandaVision, where the character was resurrected and revamped into White Vision following his death in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War.

Hardy Talks About Bus Crash That Nearly Killed Him

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

Three years ago this week, Hardy was on his way back from a concert in Bristol, Tennessee, when his tour bus careened off the road and rolled down an embankment. The country singer, his photographer, his then-tour manager, and bus driver were all flung about the cabin and seriously injured.

Hardy has talked about the early morning hours of Oct. 2, 2022, in bits and pieces in the past, but on this week’s episode of Rolling Stone’s Nashville Now podcast, he recounts in terrifying detail what happened just a few miles outside of Nashville.

According to Hardy, he and his photographer were listening to Kendrick Lamar and FaceTiming with Morgan Wallen, Hardy’s longtime friend, when his bus driver pulled over to use the bus’s bathroom. Something didn’t seem right to Hardy, so he asked his driver how he felt when he emerged.

“I said, ‘You good?’ And he said, ‘yep,’ and I said, ‘How much longer do we have?’ And he said, ‘Yep,’” Hardy recalls. “We got about two more miles down the road, and he had either an aneurysm or seizure while driving and we barreled off the side of the road. The bus flipped over three times.”

Hardy says all four were knocked unconscious and when he came to, he was on the ceiling of the bus, which was now upside-down. “It went from being a bus to a movie set, like a bomb went off,” he says. “I crawled out of the front windshield, which was busted open… The bus had gone so far down the hill that you couldn’t see it from the highway. So, all these trucks and cars were flying by and they couldn’t see us. I had a black hoodie with a big white circle on it and all I could think to do is take that hoodie off and try to wave people down. I did that for about 30 minutes and I could not get somebody to stop.”

Hardy, in shock, also lost his glasses and was unable to see. He says he was hesitant to return to the bus without first finding help. “Part of me was really scared to go back in there ‘cause I thought Tanner was dead,” he says.

While all four men survived the accident, each was severely injured. Hardy fractured his back and gashed open his head, but it was nearly even worse. “When I woke up, the bus windows are long like this, and my head was underneath the top of the panel,” he recalls. “If we would have slid another foot, it’d have cut my head off.”

Hardy, who just released his new album Country! Country! talks about the bus accident and how it affected his mental health on Nashville Now, along with his thoughts on how his friend and collaborator Morgan Wallen was treated for his missteps, and why he loves Sleep Token.
