JAY-Z Hosts Star-Studded Party For Grandmother’s 100th Birthday

JAY-Z celebrated his grandmother Hattie White’s 100th birthday in a major way. The rapper gathered friends, family, and A-list celebrities for the high-class affair. Clips and videos shared across social media highlight Grandma Hattie’s kind words, a lavish birthday cake, and a special performance from Stevie Wonder. Additional attendees included, of course, Beyoncé, as well as Megan Thee Stallion, Klay Thompson, Nas, Chris Martin, Tina Knowles, and many more.

“I want to thank you for coming out and celebrating my 100th birthday,” shared the centenarian. As she spoke, the Brooklyn rapper stood proudly by her side. A glamorous, seven-tier, metallic gold cake sweetened the milestone moment.

“May God bless all of y’all who have traveled the road that I have traveled,” she continued.

In an Instagram post uploaded by Queen Bey gave fans a closer look inside the affair. Set to Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition,” the rapid slideshow shared images of Beyoncé in a fitted, black gown with velvet detailing, with a fur coat from Black designer Tiara Peach of FGM Bespoke, styled by Ty Hunter.

The Grammy-winner also shared fun pictures of card tables, her and JAY-Z enjoying a little PDA, the woman of the hour, her children dancing, and Stevie Wonder on stage.

Bey Hive fans will recognize White as one of the voices in Beyoncé’s acclaimed Lemonade. At the end of the defiant “Freedom,” the elder proclaimed, “I had my ups and downs, but I always find the inner strength to pull myself up. I was served lemons, but I made lemonade.”

Additional posts from Mama Tina revealed video footage of the special performance.

“Stevie said ‘ Happy Birthday to Ms Hattie White’ The mayor of Brooklyn declared Sunday Ms. Hattie White Day!” exclaimed the Knowles family matriarch on Instagram. “The elegant , classy , beautiful lady turned 100 and was celebrated by her family and friends at a party , fit for the Queen she is!!! Stevie Wonder , one of her favorite artist paid tribute to her with her own private concert!!! Stevie reminded us of the many hits that he’s made!!! We danced the night away.”

“Those Carters know how to party!!!!!!!!!” she added.

A second upload featured her singing along.

She added, “Jamming to Stevie Wonder and Golden Lady ! Ms Hattie White was The Golden Lady of the night . We were celebrating her 100th birthday.. and what a glorious human being she is. I can hear her famous quote ‘life gave me lemons and I made lemonade!’ Jay you showed out for your grandma and she deserved every moment of it!”

In 2018, Hov dedicated a bench in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park to his grandmother.

“She’s so full of life, and Hattie White, amongst other accomplishments of being super great and tough, she raised seven kids in one little walk-up in Brooklyn,” shared the Hip-Hop icon in 2019 while accepting the NAACP President’s Award.

“On top of that, her kids had kids, and we were all raised in the same house. One household. So I was speaking to her the other day, and I asked her, ‘How much money did you make?’  and she made $20 a week, and she said, ‘No, but it’s fine. You could do a lot with $20 in those days.’ And with that sort of attitude, that’s how I grew up.”

5 Takeaways From Taylor Swift’s New Album The Life of a Showgirl

by jummy84 October 3, 2025
written by jummy84

For a minute, it felt as if Taylor Swift was about to embark on her own Never Ending Tour. It’s more fair to say Swift is on something closer to a perpetual victory lap. Beyond the Eras Tour grossing over $2 billion in sales, she scored a record-breaking fourth Grammy for Album of the Year, dropped an exposé of a double album, and reacquired the masters to her first six albums after nearly completing the Taylor’s Version project (note: this is just recounting the major points of last year). Each new Taylor Swift record means a new cultural movement, more records to be broken, and, perhaps most integral, a batch of songs to contextualize in the Swiftian canon.

So give a warm welcome to The Life of a Showgirl, Swift’s 12th studio album, which foils The Tortured Poets Department in a few major ways. For one, it’s a tight 12-track run compared to the colossal 31-track of TTPD. Max Martin and Shellback—reuniting with Swift for their first new body of work together since 2017’s Reputation—produced and wrote the entire record with her. And The Life of a Showgirl finds Swift on cloud 9, swooning over her future with a fiancé and her present, infinite success. Here are 5 takeaways from the album.

The Tortured Playwrights Department

Turns out the chairman of the Tortured Poets Department is hosting a playwriting seminar, and the Bard’s tragedy Hamlet is required reading. The Life of a Showgirl opens with “The Fate of Ophelia,” where Swift recounts the major facets of the presumed bride of the Prince of Denmark. Ophelia is driven to madness after the murder of her father and flaky romantic advances from Hamlet, and before long, takes her own life. The Hamlet of Swift’s world possesses much more agency than the original; here, he is no longer cowardly and immobile, but honest about his infatuation with Ophelia and sweeps her off her feet. “And if you’d never come for me,” Swift declares, with the bass pulsing like a racing heart, “I might’ve lingered in purgatory.” It’s easy to see why she’s drawn to revise Ophelia’s ending (she does love giving a few notes to William Shakespeare), especially as Showgirl’s love songs are entranced with her soon-to-be husband, Travis Kelce. Call it her honeymoon era.

Cell Block Taylor

OK, let’s talk about it: “Actually Romantic” is already believed to be about club rat turned worldwide phenomenon Charli XCX, whose song “Sympathy is a knife” was a public blood-letting of her deepest insecurities as a 30-something female pop star; when she spots a certain singer backstage, she detests her, then feels guilty for the vitriol and jealousy pumping through her veins. Out of the gate, “Actually Romantic” is in your face with its barbs. Swift calls her a cowardly cokehead, a yipping lapdog, and maims XCX’s now-husband George Daniel (“How many times has your boyfriend said, ‘Why are we always talking ’bout her?’”). I almost expected Swift to recall a line from Mean Girls when she feigns flattery from the lopsided feud.

You could categorize most of Swift’s discography into different emotions or subjects, and this song will be filed under the Vindictive Diss Tracks label. Unlike Swift’s biggest enemies (slimy businessmen looking to make a buck, those complicit of the Swift–West 2016-17 crisis), “Actually Romantic” is reminiscent of Swift’s earliest revenge songs, where she was too caught up in her anger to see straight. It’s a far cry from the Taylor who revised a lyric on Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) for fear of being labeled as slut-shaming and anti-feminist.

So High School

This is what Swift said to GQ about her tour in 2015: “I’ve just been onstage for two hours, talking to 60,000 people about my feelings… When I get home, there is not one part of me that wishes I was around other people.” So while The Life of a Showgirl gives a glimpse behind the curtain of being the biggest pop star in the world, the album is less about the rush of being on stage than the desire for a simple life. Swift dreams up a white picket fence life on “Wi$h Li$t,” complete with gaggles of children playing house together, while “Ruin the Friendship” imagines a teenage Swift too stunned to make a move on a boy she’s crushing on; it ends with her at his funeral, reminiscent of the frosty Red (Taylor’s Version) track “Forever Winter.” Most major celebrities or pop artists will tell you their lives are spent in a glass cage, and yearn for mundanity as much as some pine for fame. In Taylor’s words on the record’s rapturous finale, “You don’t know the life of a showgirl, babe, and you’re never gonna wanna.”

That’s How You Get the Girl

On the Midnights opener “Lavender Haze,” Swift brushed off an enduring question regarding her former, long-term partner: When are you two finally going to tie the knot? Despite the song’s cool confidence, it was obvious she was exhausted by this query, and maybe her stance on matrimony had begun to shift. Swift and Kelce announced their engagement a few weeks after the album’s announcement, and Swift’s adoration for the Kansas City Chiefs player (Killa Trav if you’re nasty) bleeds into a trio of tracks on The Life of a Showgirl. What were once sour memories of barroom condescension now taste like sugar water; “Gave it a different meaning ’cause you mean it” she chirps on “Honey.” Taking notes from the Carpenter Songbook, she goes on a double entendre bonanza on “Wood,” where in one breath proclaims knowing Kelce’s the one, and in the next, name-drops his podcast to describe his, erm, virility (“New Heights of manhood”). Only time will tell if the basketball hoop in “Wi$h Li$t” will join the red scarf, a rickety screen door, and a downtown bar as canonical motifs of love in the Swiftiverse.

Swiftian Semantics

  • “Your thoughtless ambition sparked the ignition/On foolish decisions which lead to misguided visions” (“Father Figure”)
  • “I have been afflicted by a terminal uniqueness/I’ve been dying just from trying to seem cool” (“Eldest Daughter”)
  • “Glistening grass from September rain/Gray overpass full of neon names” (“Ruin the Friendship”)
  • “Now they’ve broken you like they’ve broken me/But a shattered glass is a lot more sharp” (“Cancelled!”)
  • “Buy the paint in the color of your eyes and graffiti my whole damn life” (“Honey”)

“This is the only time I’ll speak on this matter”

by jummy84 October 3, 2025
written by jummy84

D4vd‘s manager, Josh Marshall, has spoken out for the first time after a body was found in a car registered to the musician.

The deceased was identified last month as a teenage girl, who was said to be between the ages of 14 and 15. The body has since been identified as Celeste Rivas Hernandez, 15, with the exact cause of death currently listed as “deferred”.

“Deferred cases can take a few months before a cause of death is determined,” said the medical examiner’s office. According to a recent report by People, the LAPD’s robbery-homicide division is still investigating the case.

LAPD Captain and Commanding Officer Scot M. Williams said officers were yet to determine “if anyone has any criminal culpability for her death beyond the concealment of her dead body”.

However, he said police do “know for sure that Celeste Rivas Hernandez died and someone placed her body in the front trunk area of David Burke’s Tesla”.

The Tesla in question was registered in Hempstead, a city near Houston in Texas, to D4vd (real name David Anthony Burke).

As Far Out reports, a TikTok user under the name ‘Girl Town’ recently shared a video on the platform, accusing Marshall of being involved in the death of the teenage girl.

He has categorically denied any wrongdoing in the comments section, writing: “How dare you say something like this with no facts.”

Marshall added: “This video is false and the person is misinformed. This is the only time I’ll speak on this matter. FOR NOW. This has been a tough time for my family as I am a father of 3 children.”

The manager and music executive, who runs the label Mogul Vision, also denied the claim that he had been living in a mansion in the Hollywood Hills with D4vd and Hernandez. Additionally, he refuted an allegation that he had received an email from a “family friend” of Hernandez in 2024, containing her missing person’s report.

@girltownnj

Allegedly. Justice for Celeste Rivas Hernandez🙏. What do you guys think?! #d4vd #truecrime #truecrimetok

“I received no emails and I’m no one’s roommate, I live full-time at home with my wife and kids,” Marshall responded. “My daughter is 14 and this news is affecting so many lives. I never received any emails. I had zero knowledge of anything and I don’t live in California.”

He continued: “Also I work remotely 95 per cent of the time and my job doesn’t require me to have much interaction with any of my clients/David, as there are many others that work with him on a day-to-day capacity, not me.”

Marshall went on: “This news is tragic for so many and for her family. I hope the proper authorities get to the bottom of it soon.

“Let me remind people a lot of this is speculation and alleged. In the meantime, I am with my family helping them emotionally get through the news of this tragedy. Please report on factual information. – Josh Marshall.”

The body was discovered on September 8 after police responded to a report of a foul odour coming from an impounded vehicle at a tow yard in Hollywood, Los Angeles.

Sources in the neighbourhood where the Tesla was parked previously reported that the vehicle had been seen in various places over the past few months. It was reportedly left in its final spot on Bluebird Avenue in the Hollywood Hills for about three weeks. Before this, it was said to have been parked a few blocks away as far back as May.

After the body was found, it was revealed that Burke had been informed of the investigation and was “cooperating” with the authorities. He has since been linked to the home that the LAPD had searched in connection with the deceased’s disappearance.

D4vd recently cancelled his US tour and shelved plans to release a deluxe edition of his debut album ‘Withered’. His headline tour dates in Europe and the UK have since been cancelled too.

The musician was out on tour when the body was discovered, and initially continued with the dates as planned. During a gig in Minneapolis last month, he thanked fans for their support and threw Labubus into the audience.

Watch Addison Rae Showcase ‘Diet Pepsi,’ ‘New York’ on ‘Fallon’

by jummy84 October 3, 2025
written by jummy84

The singer also recounted going to see Justin Bieber when she was growing up and creating a chant in hopes of going backstage

Addison Rae stopped by The Tonight Show to perform a medley of “Diet Pepsi” and “New York.”

The pop singer took the late-night show’s stage in gold gown, offering an ethereal take on “Diet Pepsi,” the hit single she dropped last August. She then danced across the floor to a segment of “New York” before climbing onto host Jimmy Fallon‘s desk.

Rae also sat down with Fallon to discuss her debut album, Addison, and celebrating her 25th birthday. “I actually love aging,” she said. “I think aging is amazing. I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, everything just feels like it matters much less when you get older. Yeah, actually, anything goes.’ As long as I’m surviving, I’m good.”

The singer recalled going to see a Justin Bieber concert on one of her birthdays when she was growing up. “Just seeing him on stage, I was dying,” she said. “But also just like, ‘Wow, one day that’ll be me up there in the levitating heart.’” She added that she created a chant with her cousins to get Bieber’s attention: “We’ve got Bieber fever. It’s 102. And the only way to cure it is to go backstage with you.” She noted, “It didn’t work. Epic fail.”

Trending Stories

Rae released Addison in June. The album came a year after she first began teasing new music. Last June, she posted a video of her underwater as the then-unreleased track “Aquamarine” played over it. Lead single “Diet Pepsi” was dropped in August, with “Aquamarine” officially arriving a couple months later. Ahead of the album, she unveiled five total songs off the LP, all with their own videos.

The singer recently appeared in the trailer for Ryan Murphy’s Monster: The Ed Gein Story, playing one of the infamous murderer’s alleged victims. Premiering on Netflix today, The Ed Gein Story is the third installment of Murphy and Ian Brennan’s true crime anthology series, following seasons on Jeffrey Dahmer and the Menendez Brothers. Sons of Anarchy‘s Charlie Hunnam will star as Gein and Laurie Metcalf will portray his mother, with whom Gein shared a strangely close relationship. Rae is billed as playing Evelyn Hartley, a teen girl who went missing in 1953.

Taylor Swift, Luke Combs, Leon Thomas & More

Billboard’s Friday Music Guide serves as a handy guide to this Friday’s most essential releases — the key music that everyone will be talking about today, and that will be dominating playlists this weekend and beyond.

Explore

See latest videos, charts and news

This week, Luke Combs is feeling wistful, Leon Thomas is feeling vindictive, and of course, the most anticipated pop release of the entire year is finally upon us. Check out all of this week’s picks below:

Taylor Swift, The Life of a Showgirl

Yes, Taylor Swift‘s finally back doing big pop, and yes she’s got Max Martin and Shellback in tow again — but 1989, Pt. 2 this ain’t. The Life of a Showgirl has some of the big drums and plenty of the big hooks of this trio’s extended collaboration a decade earlier, but the songwriting and sonic palette are both updated for the mid-2020s, with many tracks based around an organic-skewing pop-rock sound more reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac than Forever Your Girl. Plenty of its songs seem destined to impact on a similar scale though: “Actually Romantic” and “Wood” will be the headline-grabbers for their provocative subject matters, but “Ruin the Friendship” and “Eldest Daughter” may end up the fan favorites for their personal lyrics and wistful melodies.

Luke Combs, “Days Like These”

“When the sky is blue/ And the grass is green/ How much better can it be?” Luke Combs has always had a knack for expressing simple lyrical sentiments as profound truths — particularly when he relies on the power of his voice to carry the song, rather than dulling it with radio-ready overproduction. “Days Like These” features just Combs and an acoustic guitar singing this ode to the core pleasures that make up life — and you can bet country radio will still find it absolutely undeniable.

Leon Thomas, “Just How You Are”

Despite the title’s similarity to classic pop love songs from Billy Joel and Bruno Mars, don’t expect Leon Thomas in a sentimental mood on his new single. “I wrote all these songs about you/ And you never even said a word/ Not even just to say you heard/ I guess ‘congrats’ is your least favorite word,” the R&B singer-songwriter seethes over an airtight soul-funk groove. The wedding ballads can wait; this nasty jam should still get the dancefloor packed in the meantime.

Louis Tomlinson, “Lemonade”

We haven’t heard much from Louis Tomlinson since 2022’s Fate in the Future, but in September he announced he’d be back with the full-length How Did I Get Here? in January 2026. The first taste of that record was delivered this week with lead single “Lemonade,” in which Tomlinson does his best Adam Lambert strut over a muscular disco-rock bounce. No one’s going to be bringing the chorus (“She’s so bitter/ She’s so sweet/ Lemonade”) into Language Arts class anytime soon, but there’s never been a song called “Lemonade” that wasn’t mostly irresistible, and this one is no exception.

Kali Uchis feat. Mariah the Scientist, “Pretty Promises”

After teaming up for one of the year’s most sublime collabs with “Is It a Crime?” from Mariah the Scientist‘s Hearts Sold Separately album, it’s time for Kali Uchis to play host on the deluxe edition of her 2024 LP Sincerely, entitled Sincerely: P.S. The two reconvene for the equally lovely “Pretty Promises,” as the two swear that their word is bond over an underwater groove that they swim around like mermaids. If these are gonna be the results every time this duo teams up, they should really start thinking about doing a full album together.

Fred again.. & Amyl and the Sniffers, “You’re a Star”

Of all the artists you might expect producer phenomenon Fred again.. to team up with for one of his overwhelmingly emotional dancefloor anthems, Australian indie-punk band Amyl and the Sniffers would probably be fairly low on the list, if it made the cut at all. But sure enough, the artist born Frederick John Philip Gibson enlisted Amy Taylor and company for his drum n’ bass-inflected latest single, harnessing the group’s energy and then exploding it with Gesaffelstein-like sirens and typically all-over-the-place vocal triggers. Unexpected but effective — and that’s why he’s a star.

Mariah Carey Here for It All
Music

Mariah Carey’s ‘Here for It All’ Is a Winning Return » PopMatters

by jummy84 October 3, 2025
written by jummy84

Mariah Carey’s new album showcases a veteran who understands what is needed to succeed in the new musical landscape. The last few years have not been especially kind to 1990s divas. Radio was once ruled by one-named divas like Whitney, Celine, Madonna, Shania, and Janet, their releases being heralded with the glitzy pomp and circumstance of a big Hollywood movie. These queens once reigned over a musical realm that has since evolved into a new and vibrant landscape, marked by streaming, file sharing, and the decline of record sales. However, the 2020s are a new world, and as one of the 1990s’ most outstanding performers, Mariah Carey isn’t immune to the shifts, either.

Mariah Carey’s new album, Here for It All, marks the first in her career not to be recorded for a major label; instead, Carey has partnered with the new media company Gamma to release her 16th record. It demonstrates the decorated songstress’ willingness to adapt to her new business environment. The days of major labels battling to sign superstars are in the past, and she seems to understand that.

It’s important to note that Carey’s new musical home isn’t a tiny indie label. It’s not like she’s going to be singing in coffeehouses or at state fairs. Gamma, founded by Larry Jackson and Ike Youssef, had a reported $1 billion in startup capital as of 2023 and boasts collaborations with notable figures such as Snoop Dogg, Usher, and Rick Ross. After several years on major labels like Sony, Virgin, and Island, Carey has chosen Gamma as the venue for her umpteenth comeback. (Here for It All comes a whopping seven years after her previous LP, Caution, the most extended break she’s ever had between releases.)

Carey’s new album pays homage to the past. Here for It All is an affectionate and charming look at Black pop music of the 1970s and 1980s, charmingly retro without feeling stale or derivative. It’s a nod to the kind of music Carey grew up on and the sounds that influenced her as she came of age. Here for It All also highlights her enduring gifts, especially that spectacular voice, which is miraculously intact.

Although Carey’s voice is undeniably the central selling point of her records, she has always been primarily a singles artist. She has a couple of bona fide classic albums in her discography (Butterfly and Glitter come to mind), but she shines brightest on catchy hits – usually crafted by creative and dynamic talents who gracefully lead Carey into whatever current pop trend is happening.

On Here for It All, she has opted out of working with her classic stalwarts, such as Babyface, Dave Foster, or Walter Afanasieff, and instead found creative kinship with artists like Anderson Paak, who appears on the second track, “Play This Song”, and shares writing credits on two other tracks. Carey’s primary collaborator on the album is Daniel Moore II, a musician who has worked with the singer-songwriter on several of her projects and has served as musical director for tours and residences since 2018.

What is Mariah Carey’s new album about?

Carey has described her new music as “new Mariah, but still sounds like Mariah, but there’s a little twist to it”. It’s figuring out what she’s referencing when she mentions the “little twist” that we get to the heart of the winning album. At a trim and economic 11 tracks, Here for It All does recall bits and pieces of Carey’s work from the last 30 or so years of her career.

There are the lovely ballads that allow Carey to showcase her still-supple voice, hip-hop-inflected pop that highlights the singer’s pioneering of blending melodic pop with rap, and midtempo dance numbers that shake up the sounds and inject moments of energy. The album opens with the smooth “Mi” that bears the hallmarks of a great Mariah Carey song: wall-to-wall vocals, fluttery harmonies, and the kind of deadpan self-referential wit that has made Carey one of the funniest singers out there.

“I’m the D-I-V-A, that’s MC,” she purrs over skipping beats, leaning hard into the camp image she has carefully cultivated, name checking tropes of wealth like Harry Winston and Hermès as she sings absurdly boastful lyrics such as “And you couldn’t walk a mile in my shoes (‘Cause they hurt like hell)” summoning up oft-reproduced and shared images of Carey cautiously tottering on mile-high stilettos on stage or on the red carpet.

“Play This Song” is a summery love ballad reminiscent of the starry-eyed love duets of the 1970s Motown era. Joined by Anderson Paak, the two conjure up the spirit of Diana Ross and Marvin Gaye or Stevie Wonder and Syreeta Wright. The swirling production, live drums, and relaxed arrangements give the song the feeling of the kinds of songs parents played on a Saturday morning while doing housework. Carey brings 1970s disco and funk with the sprightly “I Won’t Allow It”. The record glides on a shimmying beat that recalls birthday parties at the roller rink. In both instances, Carey demonstrates an affinity and agility in embracing the era’s pop-soul sounds.

There are modern cuts on the album, as well. The first single, “Type Dangerous” (released with a retro 2000s video laden with special effects), is the most concerted effort to keep Carey relevant. It’s a good song, though its busy production makes it most likely to date quickly. It’s a song that feels a bit forced, compared to the other tunes, which feel far more fitting. L.A. Reid, executive producer of the album, said that “[Carey] is fighting to stay contemporary”. As evidenced by the other, better songs on the project, she doesn’t need to try that hard to sound fresh.

Far better is “Jesus I Do”, a collaboration with the legendary gospel sister act, the Clark Sisters. It’s a canny move to recall Carey’s facility with gospel music and even a smarter idea to make the spiritual song a dance song. The diva is energized and enthusiastic when singing about her faith, and the Clark Sisters offer their gorgeous airtight harmonies. “Jesus I Do” is a high point, indicating that she should seriously consider cutting a contemporary gospel album for her next project.

The other jewels on Mariah Carey’s new album show the singer at her mid-1990s best. Although not Sir Paul McCartney‘s best composition, she does a fine job of elevating his big hit, making the silly chorus (“Wo, wo, wo, wo only my love does it good”) lilting and lovely, especially with stunning, shimmery background vocals. Of course, the centerpiece is the title track, which closes the record.

The McCartney cover sounds like classic Music Box-era Mariah Carey. The lyrics are moving, and the structure of the Broadway ballad-like song builds to a satisfying bout of adlibs, vocal runs, and belts (that expose a pleasing grit and rasp in her near-perfect voice) before the song cleverly shifts to a shuffling, strutting gospel workout that features some wonderful vocalizing as well as samples of Carey’s whistle register.

Earlier this year, Mariah Carey appeared on Barbra Streisand‘s latest album in a collaboration with Streisand and Ariana Grande. The song was the expected pop ballad, which called for each singer to showcase their estimable vocal skills. It’s a significant moment in Carey’s career because it places her in a fascinating context: sandwiched between two oversized divas, just as fabulous and popular as she, but each representing a different era, and like Carey, each a pioneer in her era.

Here for It All coincides with a critical time in her life when she wrestles with the balance of being a contemporary pop star and a legacy artist. However, it succeeds, despite the potential baggage it carries, Mariah Carey’s new album proves that she possesses timeless gifts.

Foo Fighters Release Are Playing Where ??? Vol. 1 Live Album Exclusively on Bandcamp

written by jummy84

It’s the next best thing to catching a surprise Foo Fighters show.

Dave Grohl and company have a shared a new live album, Foo Fighters – Are Playing Where ??? Vol. 1, for this week’s Bandcamp Friday.

The album is made up of “absolutely ripping live tracks recorded in front of dozens, possibly hundreds of lucky fans at the band’s recent surprise club gigs,” according to a press release. The tracklist includes performances of “Alone + Easy Target,” “Exhausted,” “Watershed,” “Weenie Beenie,” “White Limo,” and “Winnebago.”

The Bandcamp exclusive is available as a “pay what you want” release, with all proceeds going to local charities combating food insecurity in the four cities where the shows took place.

Last month, the band played the first of their surprise shows at the Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo, California, where they debuted new drummer, Ilan Rubin, who joined the band in a swap of sorts with Nine Inch Nails, who now feature the Foo Fighters’ previous drummer, Josh Freese.

This past July, Foo Fighters released a new song, titled “Today’s Song,” which coincided with the 30th anniversary of the band’s 1995 debut.

Foo Fighters Drop Live EP For Bandcamp Friday

by jummy84 October 3, 2025
written by jummy84

Foo Fighters are rewarding fans who didn’t get a chance to see them at four surprise club shows in recent weeks with a live EP, Foo Fighters – Are Playing Where ???  Vol. 1, which is exclusively available now as a pay-your-own-price download for Bandcamp Friday.

Accurately described as “six absolutely ripping live tracks recorded in front of dozens, possibly hundreds of lucky fans,” the EP consists of five songs from Foo Fighters’ beloved 1995 self-titled debut and one each from 2011’s Wasting Light (“White Limo”).

Several cuts from the debut, such as “Winnebago” and “Exhausted,” hadn’t been performed since 2014, while “Weenie Beenie” had only been aired three times since then. They benefit greatly from the arrival of powerful new drummer Ilan Rubin, whose first show with the Foos was Sept. 13 in San Luis Obispo, Ca.

Proceeds from Are Playing Where will benefit local charities combating food insecurity in cities where the Foos recently played, which also included Santa Ana, Ca., Washington, D.C., and New Haven, Ct. “And while you’re there, check out and support some other artists,” the band says. “Discover something new or rediscover some old favorites.”

Bandcamp Fridays began in March 2020 as a way to help artists offset lost touring revenue at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. By waiving its revenue share on these days, Bandcamp has generated an additional $120 million in direct payments to artists and labels.

Foo Fighters just began an Asian tour yesterday (Oct. 2) in Jakarta and will perform tomorrow at the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix. The group is expected to release a new studio in 2026 and tour behind it extensively.

Here is the track list for Foo Fighters – Are Playing Where ???  Vol. 1:

“Alone + Easy Target”
“Exhausted”
“Low”
“Wattershed”
“Weenie Beenie”
“White Limo”
“Winnebago”

With family and friends also in the building, IShowSpeed expressed overwhelming gratitude for both the audience and the digital show.

After the first two episodes were screened, attendees were directed to an afterparty, celebrating the Ohio native’s on-screen accomplishments. Guests included Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber, Jeremiah Brown, and DDG, as well as series stars Suni Lee, Randy Orton, Fred Richard, Nastia Liukin, and Ian Gunther, among others. Guests were also welcomed to participate in athletic activities such as a fun, arcade-style basketball shootout or the NFL combine-designed vertical jump.

Speed Goes Pro! follows the 20-year-old as he attempts to reach the skill level of professional athletes in various arenas. As described in a press statement, each episode features a different sport where Speed is put through a crash course by world-class trainers as well as current and former professional athletes to prepare him for an ultimate showdown with a legend in each sport. Tom Brady is featured in the first episode, and although he was unable to attend the event, he shared a special message for the streamer, which aired ahead of the screening.

With five episodes in its first season, Speed Goes Pro! is produced by OBB Pictures in partnership with DICK’S. In fact, the entire project evolved from a commercial Speed filmed with the retail company. New episodes of Speed Goes Pro! are set to drop every other Wednesday starting on Oct. 15, with the first episode out now. The series is executive produced by Michael D. Ratner, Scott Ratner, Kfir Goldberg, and Camille Maratchi for OBB Pictures, alongside Darren Watkins Jr., Mason Klein, and showrunner Eric Pankowski.

Foo Fighters Release New Live EP: Listen

by jummy84 October 3, 2025
written by jummy84

Foo Fighters have surprise-released a new live EP. Are Playing Where ???? Vol. 1 was captured across the surprise club shows that the band played across the U.S. in September. It’s available exclusively on Bandcamp, with proceeds going towards local charities working to combat food insecurity in San Luis Obispo and Santa Ana, California, Washington, D.C., and New Haven, Connecticut—the four cities where the gigs took place. Listen to Are Playing Where ???? Vol. 1 below.

Foo Fighters shared their latest studio album, But Here We Are, in 2023. The LP was recorded after the death of the band’s longtime drummer, Taylor Hawkins, in 2022. Earlier this year, Dave Grohl & co. parted ways with Hawkins’ replacement, Josh Freese, and hired Nine Inch Nails drummer Ilan Rubin; Freese then ended up joining Nine Inch Nails. Foo Fighters recently covered Minor Threat’s “I Don’t Wanna Hear It” and shared “Today’s Song,” their first original music since the release of But Here We Are.
