Nora Arnezeder in Thriller ‘Hell in Paradise’ Trailer Set in the Maldives

“Stay away from these people…” Yes! They seem very dangerous! EuropaCorp has revealed the first official French trailer for a film titled Hell in Paradise, a thriller from filmmaker Leïla Sy, directed of the Street Flow movies and Yo Mama previously. It’s shot mainly in English (they speak Dhivehi in Maldives), hence why we’re featuring this first trailer. The film is set for a release in French cinemas starting in November – but no idea on a US date. Nina from Marseilles decides to take a fancy hotel job in the Maldives (a beautiful island nation in the Indian Ocean), but her paradise turns nightmarish after an incident. Falsely accused, she must evade traps to escape her unjust life sentence. Nina is thrown right into a horrible spiral of lies and manipulation and must outwit them all to escape this paradise turned hell… Starring Nora Arnezeder as Nina, as well as Alyy Khan, Shubham Saraf, Ranjit Krishnamma, Sartaj Garewal, Louka Meliava, Joséphine de la Baume, and Maria Bello. Another frightening story about how powerful people try to pass on their crimes to others without any power. Sad and upsetting – but I hope she will fight back and win.

Here’s the first official trailer (+ poster) for Leïla Sy’s thriller Hell in Paradise, direct from YouTube:

Hoping for a better life, Nina (starring Nora Arnezeder) leaves Marseille for a job as a receptionist in a luxury hotel in the Indian Ocean in the Maldives. But when tragedy strikes the hotel, Nina is thrown into a nightmarish spiral of lies and manipulation. Wrongly accused and facing life in prison, she must fight and outwit the traps to escape this paradise turned hell… Hell in Paradise is directed by the French-Senegalese filmmaker Leïla Sy, director of the movies Street Flow 1 & 2 and Yo Mama previously, plus tons of other music videos as well. The screenplay is written by Karine Silla. Produced by Virginie Besson-Silla. Made by Luc Besson’s company EuropaCorp. This hasn’t premiered at any film festivals or anywhere else, as far as we know. EuropaCorp will debut Leïla Sy’s Hell in Paradise film in French cinemas starting November 26th, 2025 this fall. No US release date is set yet – stay tuned for more updates. Looking good? Is ‘Psycho’ Based on Ed Gein? Movies & Shows Inspired by Serial Killer – Hollywood Life

by jummy84 October 6, 2025

Few true crime stories have cast as long a shadow over Hollywood as Ed Gein’s. The Wisconsin murderer and grave robber horrified the nation in the 1950s and went on to inspire some of the most iconic horror films ever made. Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho (1960) famously drew from Gein’s twisted crimes, transforming real-life terror into cinematic history. But Psycho was only the beginning.

Over the years, Gein’s disturbing legacy has continued to influence filmmakers, from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to The Silence of the Lambs and, more recently, Netflix’s Monster: The Ed Gein Story. His name remains synonymous with the blurred line between fact and fiction in horror.

Below, learn how Psycho was inspired by Ed Gein, and see which other movies and TV shows were shaped by his chilling story.

Who Is Ed Gein?

Gein was an American murderer and grave robber from Plainfield, Wisconsin, whose gruesome crimes shocked the world in the 1950s. Born on August 27, 1906, Gein lived an isolated life under the strict control of his religious and abusive mother, Augusta Gein, who instilled in him a fear of women and sin.

After her death, Gein began robbing graves, exhuming bodies, and fashioning household items and clothing out of human remains. His deeply disturbed actions would later make him one of the most infamous figures in American criminal history.

What Happened to Ed Gein?

On November 16, 1957, local hardware store owner Bernice Worden went missing in Plainfield, Wisconsin. Investigators traced her disappearance to Gein. When police searched his farmhouse, they uncovered Worden’s mutilated body, along with furniture, masks, and clothing made from human skin and bones. Gein admitted to killing two women—Worden and Mary Hogan, a tavern owner who vanished in 1954—as well as robbing graves for years.

In 1958, he was declared legally insane and committed to Central State Hospital for the Criminally Insane, later transferred to Mendota Mental Health Institute. He remained institutionalized for the rest of his life and died in 1984 at the age of 77 from respiratory failure due to cancer.

Was Psycho (1960) Inspired by Ed Gein?

Yes. Hitchcock’s Psycho was directly inspired by Gein’s real-life crimes. The film’s protagonist, Norman Bates, mirrors Gein in several unsettling ways: both were isolated men with domineering mothers whose deaths triggered psychological breakdowns.

The novel Psycho, written by Robert Bloch in 1959, was influenced by Gein’s case, as Bloch lived just 35 miles from Plainfield. Hitchcock later adapted Bloch’s story into the iconic 1960 film, making Norman Bates one of cinema’s most enduring horror figures.

Movies & Shows Based on Ed Gein

Over the decades, Gein’s story has continued to influence filmmakers and storytellers across generations. His crimes have inspired numerous films and television projects, including The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), Deranged: Confessions of a Necrophile (1974), The Silence of the Lambs (1991), Ed Gein (2000), and Ed Gein: The Butcher of Plainfield (2007).

Most recently, Netflix revisited his story in Monster: The Ed Gein Story (2025), starring Charlie Hunnam as Gein and Laurie Metcalf as his mother, Augusta.

Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Bugonia’ Final Trailer with Emma Stone & Jesse Plemons

“Lies!” “Truth!” “What’s the difference…?” Scary! Don’t skip this one. Focus Features has unveiled a second trailer for Yorgos Lanthimos’ funky new film titled Bugonia, a sort of sci-fi conspiracy thriller set for release at the end of October. The film premiered at the 2025 Venice & Telluride Film Festivals to mostly positive reviews (here’s mine) – many are quoted in this trailer below. This is Yorgos’ next enticing follow-up to Poor Things and Kinds of Kindness, re-teaming with Emma and Jesse. Two conspiracy obsessed young men kidnap the high-powered CEO of a major pharmaceutical company, convinced that she is really an alien intent on destroying planet Earth. Maybe she actually is? What will happen if they find out? This is a remake of the Korean film titled Save the Green Planet!, which not many people have seen yet. The cast in Bugonia includes Emma Stone as Michelle, CEO of a pharma corporation, plus Jesse Plemons, Aidan Delbis, Stavros Halkias, and Alicia Silverstone. I’m a fan of this one! It’s not the best of the year, but it’s just the right dose of kooky & shocking & entertaining – as only Yorgos can pull off. Emma Stone phone home. 👽

Here’s the second & final trailer (+ poster) for Yorgos Lanthimos’ sci-fi thriller Bugonia, from YouTube:

Bugonia is directed by the acclaimed, award-winning Greek filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos, director of My Best Friend, Kinetta, Dogtooth, Alps, The Lobster, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, The Favourite, Poor Things, and Kinds of Kindness, plus other shorts and music videos. The screenplay is written by Will Tracy. Based on the original 2003 South Korean film Save the Green Planet!. Produced by Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, Yorgos Lanthimos, Emma Stone, Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen, Miky Lee, & Jerry Kyoungboum Ko. Russell Brand made international headlines earlier this year after being charged with rape, sexual assault, and indecent assault by the U.K.’s Crown Prosecution Service. According to the BBC, Jaswant Narwal of the CPS stated, “We have concluded that Russell Brand should be charged with offences including rape, sexual assault and indecent assault. These relate to reported non-recent offences between 1999 and 2005, involving four women.” At the time, the CPS stated that prosecutors had reviewed the evidence and determined that formal charges were warranted.

Following the announcement, Brand responded on social media, denying all accusations and reflecting on his past behavior. “I was a fool, man. I was a fool before I lived in the light of the Lord,” he said. “I was a drug addict, a sex addict and an imbecile, but what I never was, was a rapist. I’ve never engaged in non-consensual activity. I pray that you can see that by looking in my eyes.”

In October 2025, Brand shared another post announcing that he is “taking some time off to reflect on how (or even if) [he] can be of any use in this fraught, tense and often ugly space.”

Russell Brand’s Movies & TV Shows

The actor has gone on to star in several films and television shows such as Arthur, Get Him to the Greek, Rock of Ages, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and more. His roles often blend comedy with eccentric personalities, contributing to his unique on-screen presence.

Is Russell Brand Married?

Yes, Russell is married to illustrator Laura Brand. The couple has three children together. Before his marriage to Laura, he was famously married to pop star Katy Perry. Their marriage lasted for two years, from 2010 to 2012.

He referenced his previous marriage during an April 3 episode of his podcast Stay Free with Russell Brand, saying, “The reasons that a marriage didn’t work are the normal human reasons marriages don’t work, and I have nothing but respect for her.”

He also spoke about it during a 2023 episode of Running Wild With Bear Grylls: The Challenge, saying, “Aside from my feelings of affection for Katy, it’s a time that I remember as being a little bit chaotic and a bit, for me, I’ll speak for myself, a little disconnected.”

Russell Brand’s Net Worth

According to  Celebrity Net Worth, Russell Brand has a net worth of $20 million.

Former NFL quarterback and Fox Sports commentator Mark Sanchez was hospitalized in early October 2025 after being stabbed during an altercation in Indianapolis. Police later confirmed that the onetime New York Jets star was also arrested on misdemeanor charges while recovering from his injuries. The shocking incident has sparked widespread concern and confusion among fans.

Here’s everything we know so far about what happened to Sanchez below.

Who Is Mark Sanchez?

Sanchez is a former NFL quarterback who played ten seasons in the league after a standout career at USC. He was drafted fifth overall by the New York Jets in 2009, where he led the team to consecutive AFC Championship games early in his career. Over his NFL tenure, he also played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, and Washington.

After retiring in 2019, he transitioned into sports broadcasting and in 2021 joined FOX Sports as a game analyst.

What Happened to Mark Sanchez?

In the early hours of October 4, 2025, Sanchez was involved in a late-night altercation in downtown Indianapolis and was stabbed. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was treated and remained in stable condition.

FOX Sports released a statement following the news, writing, “We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his family’s privacy during this time.”

— FOX Sports: NFL (@NFLonFOX) October 5, 2025

The incident has been described by police as isolated, involving a dispute between two men. Surveillance footage and witness statements are under review as part of the investigation.

Why Was Mark Sanchez Arrested?

Authorities arrested Sanchez while he was hospitalized, charging him with battery with injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication — all misdemeanors. According to police reports, the altercation began when Sanchez confronted a 69-year-old truck driver over where he had parked, escalating into a physical dispute. The driver is said to have used pepper spray first, and then stabbed Sanchez in self-defense when the confrontation continued.

In the affidavit, Sanchez told investigators he’d been disoriented and recalled only “grabbing for a window” after the incident.

Who Stabbed Mark Sanchez?

The individual who stabbed Sanchez has been identified as a 69-year-old man driving a truck involved in the dispute.

The driver also sustained a facial laceration in the encounter.

Is Mark Sanchez in Jail?

As of the latest updates, Sanchez has not been booked into a jail or detention center. He remains hospitalized and under medical observation.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will decide the final charges.
