“Any last minute advice?” 20th Century has revealed a second trailer for Ella McCay, a new half political / half family comedy arriving to watch in theaters in December later this year. This is the first film directed by James L. Brooks since he made How Do You Know way back in 2010 (which we covered for its release!). As long as he can still make us laugh. In Ella McCay, Emma Mackey stars as an idealistic young woman who juggles her family and work life. A comedy about the people you love and how to survive them. She’s taking over the job of her mentor, the state’s longtime incumbent governor, and now starting a whole new life (in politics). The full ensemble cast features Emma Mackey as the titular Ella McCay, along with Jamie Lee Curtis, Jack Lowden, Kumail Nanjiani, Ayo Edebiri, Spike Fearn, Rebecca Hall, Julie Kavner, Joey Brooks, Becky Ann Baker, with Albert Brooks and Woody Harrelson. This is a better trailer than the first one, but still not sure this is going to be a big surprise this year. It looks light and charming and funny – which is more than most movies and enough to make me want to watch it anyway. Check it out.

After originally premiering at a few genre film festivals last year, it’s now set for US release on VOD starting in November this fall. “Decibel is exactly the kind of daring, inventive story Chroma stands for.” Locke explains more of his intent: “We set out to make a film that’s as thrilling as it is thought-provoking, exploring what happens when art and technology collide.” She’s not just listening… 🎧 What is she doing? When a struggling singer-songwriter gets the opportunity of a lifetime to work with a tech-obsessed music producer, her art and life are put in peril as she is forced to help create the perfect AI music algorithm. The tech horror-thriller stars Aleyse Shannon, Stefanie Estes, and Colby Groves. It looks like it has some intriguing ideas, but won’t amount to much. Less about AI more about a vicious producer trying to utilize this musician for her benefit.

Decibel follows a struggling singer-songwriter named Scout (Aleyse Shannon) who gets the opportunity of a lifetime to work with a tech-obsessed music producer. Her art and life are put in peril as she is forced to help create the perfect AI music algorithm. Beyond its sci-fi storytelling, Decibel also boasts a strong and distinctive soundtrack. The film features original songs by Caitlin Scholl and music production by Groves. Shannon performs her own vocals, all of which were recorded live on set, lending rare authenticity & emotional weight to the film. This authentic use of music and sound earned Decibel the Best Sound Award at FilmQuest. Decibel is directed by producer / filmmaker Zac Locke, director of the film Santa Isn’t Real previously, plus a few short films, and a producer on many other films. The screenplay is written by Stephen Christensen and Matt Wise. It’s produced by Jordan Michaud-Scorza, Matt Wise, Stephen Christensen, Zac Locke. This initially premiered at the 2024 Abertoir Horror Film Festival in Wales last year. Chroma debuts Locke’s Decibel thriller direct-to-VOD starting on November 7th, 2025 this fall. The late 91-year-old London, England, native died in her sleep while she was on her speaking tour in California. Jane is remembered as the world’s expert in chimpanzees and a researcher and primatologist. Her dedication to animals began in 1960 when she visited the Gombe Stream National Park in Tanzania. From there, she went on to appear in more than 40 documentaries for her research and expertise.

The Jane Goodall Institute announced she died due to natural causes in its initial announcement. In the institute’s second Instagram statement, it noted that Dr. Goodall died “peacefully in her sleep.”

“With great sadness, the Jane Goodall Institute confirmed this morning the passing of the organization’s founder, Dr. Jane Goodall, age 91 who died peacefully in her sleep while in Los Angeles, California, for her speaking tour in the United States,” the announcement read.

On October 20, 2025, TMZ reported that Goodall died as a result of cardiopulmonary arrest, which is another name for cardiac arrest, per her death certificate.

Jane was married to her ex-husband, Dutch wildlife photographer Baron Hugo van Lawick, from 1964 to 1974. She was briefly known as Baroness Jane van Lawick-Goodall during their marriage.

The researcher then married her second husband, Derek Bryceson, who died of cancer in 1980. He was a member of Tanzania’s parliament and the director of the country’s national parks.

Jane credited her chimpanzee research with helping her adjust to motherhood. The primatologist told SheKnows in December 2022, “I think that I learned the same sort of thing from watching chimpanzees and learning about my own mother and the way she raised me. The most important thing is support. You need to support your child in what they want to do, they might change their mind but don’t try and impose what you want your child to do on them, just support them.”

Now he’s re-edited & remastered both of them into one single movie, combining footage from both with technical enhancements and previously unseen scenes. When a lost prince is rescued and raised in exile, he grows up unaware of his past. Years later, he returns to uncover the truth about his father’s murder & his mother’s imprisonment, and will rise to reclaim his place as the rightful king. Baahubali: The Epic stars Prabhas in dual roles, with Rana Daggubati, Anushka, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj, and Nassar. I actually went to see this in theaters back in 2015 and it’s proper awesome. I bet even players better now as this final version. A massive internet outage sent shockwaves across the web on October 20, 2025, after Amazon Web Services (AWS) suffered a widespread disruption that affected some of the world’s most-used apps and platforms. The glitch began in the early morning hours, when AWS reported increased “error rates and latencies” across its network, impacting everything from smart home devices to creative and communication tools.

As a result, major apps like Canva, Snapchat, Reddit, Ring, and even parts of Amazon’s own site went offline, leaving millions of users unable to log in or load content. The outage also affected other major services that rely on AWS, including Fortnite, Slack, and Venmo, highlighting just how dependent the internet has become on Amazon’s cloud infrastructure.

What Apps Went Down During Today’s Internet Outage?

Dozens of major platforms were hit by the massive internet outage on October 20, 2025, after AWS experienced its system-wide failure. Apps like Snapchat, Canva, Reddit, Venmo, Fortnite, Ring, and even parts of Amazon itself went offline for hours.

Is Canva Back Up?

Canva, one of the many services powered by AWS, was hit hard during the outage but has since returned online for most users. The company reported that its teams had restored functionality to the majority of accounts by noon and were monitoring for any lingering issues. Some users may still notice occasional slow loading times when opening designs or uploading media, but the platform’s core features are up and running again.

Was the AWS Outage Fixed?

Amazon confirmed that the root cause of the outage — a DNS-related issue in its US-EAST-1 region — was mostly resolved by 6:35 a.m. ET. The company said most AWS operations had “returned to normal,” though some customers might continue to experience throttled requests or minor delays as systems clear backlogs.

Did Reddit Go Down?

Yes, Reddit was among the platforms affected by the AWS outage. During the height of the disruption, users reported being unable to load posts, browse threads, or comment.

“Let’s make it as cool as possible.” While making it look as realistic as possible! Every few months there is a discussion about visual effects and CGI and how Hollywood loves to hide the truth of how much work goes into each & every movie. The most outspoken advocate reminding people about CGI in movies is the social media maven Todd Vaziri – who also happens to work at the illustrious ILM (Industrial Light & Magic) in San Francisco. He’s always commenting on Twitter about how VFX happen, so Vanity Fair put together a video feature him discussing his work at the studio. “ILM’s compositing supervisor Todd Vaziri breaks down the methodical approach to the groundbreaking creations that have redefined the limits of our imagination.” He spends a few minutes on a handful of movies discussing the shots and his work on these shots, and how ILM created and finished each of these shots. It is one of the most interesting and entirely comprehensive breakdowns that actually shows what really goes into VFX shots these days. Todd has always said the most important aspect to making VFX look legit: shot composition. Which he talks about in depth in the video.

When a social media app goes down, even briefly, users flock to complain. Content creators aren’t able to post, and businesses can’t share their typical information. An outage, therefore, often causes widespread panic until it’s resolved. And today, October 20, 2025, Snapchat went down in the early morning hours. Since the company informed users it was “aware” of the problem, when will it be fixed?

Below, learn what we know so far about Snap’s widespread outage and how long it could take to restore the app.

Is Snapchat Still Down Today?

Snapchat is still down for some users at the time of publication. It all started in the early morning hours on October 20, 2025, and the company acknowledged the issue on X.com at 7:58 a.m. ET.

“We’re aware that some Snapchatters are having issues,” Snapchat’s customer support account tweeted. It advised users to “hang tight” and assured them that they were “looking into it!”

According to Snapchat’s X account, the company was still encouraging commenters to DM the company about issues they were having at around 10:00 a.m. ET.

When Will Snapchat Be Fixed Today?

Snapchat is currently working on the issue, so it’s unclear when exactly all users will be able to access their accounts and use the app. However, the number of reported problems on Downdetector decreased from 22,000 to roughly 10,000 by 9:00 a.m. ET.

Since the app’s shutdown appears to have happened at the same time as the AWS outage, Snapchat might not be back up until later in the day on October 20. According to Graeme Bragg, a computer networking expert from the University of Southampton, Amazon “resolved” the “underlying issue” behind its online errors but informed users that it “will take some time to propagate across the internet.”

“Amazon’s servers also have a backlog of requests to work through, so it’s likely that we will see some disruption for the rest of the day,” Bragg continued, per The Independent.

Why Is Snapchat Down Today? Inside the Major Internet Outage

Snapchat and several other technology platforms — including Canva, AWS and Amazon’s Ring doorbell app — went down in the early morning hours on October 20 due to a major internet outage around the globe. Banks in the U.K. and airlines, including Delta, reported sudden issues because of the outage. Since AWS is a cloud provider, several online services were hit by the sudden shutdown.

It was later revealed that Amazon’s DynamoDB database faced a problem, per CNN. Users complained they could not access their data because the Domain Name System (DNS) encountered an unidentified issue. The DNS is a type of phone book that converts web addresses into IP addresses.

Amazon quickly investigated the issue and announced that the problem had been “fully mitigated,” though the company warned users that some regions could still face hiccups with online services.

“The underlying DNS issue has been fully mitigated, and most AWS Service operations are succeeding normally now,” Amazon said in a statement. “Some requests may be throttled while we work toward full resolution. Additionally, some services are continuing to work through a backlog of events such as Cloudtrail and Lambda.”

“Hope is the strongest thing we have.” VVS Films has revealed the first official trailer for a survival movie called Not Without Hope, adapted from the book of the same name. This is set for release in theaters this December. Directed by Joe Carnahan, it’s one of two upcoming movies he has coming out back-to-back – he also has The RIP scheduled for January. Not Without Hope tells the true story of four friends stuck in the Gulf of Mexico when their fishing boat capsizes during a storm. The book description sums it up nicely: “an inspiring and unforgettable story of courage and strength, friendship and loss, and, most importantly, hope, in the vein of Touching the Void, Into Thin Air, Between a Rock and a Hard Place, and Piers Paul Read’s classic survival tale, Alive.” This intense open water survival thriller stars Zachary Levi as Nick Schuyler, Quentin Plair as Marquis Cooper, Terrence Terrell as Corey Smith, Marshall Cook as Will Bleakley, with Josh Duhamel as the Coast Guard Captain and JoBeth Williams as Marcia. Of course this reminds me of The Perfect Storm, but it looks nowhere near as good as that movie. This doesn’t look that great at all.

Amazon Web Services experienced a massive outage today, October 20, 2025, which prompted a domino effect among other online platforms. From Venmo to Snapchat, internet users complained they experiencing problems loading their accounts while Amazon tried to resolve the issue throughout the day. Even Reddit users complained of problems using their accounts.

Below, get an update on whether or not Reddit is back up and running for users amid the widespread AWS outage.

Is Reddit Still Down Today?

For some users, yes — Reddit is still not working for some people, according to Downdetector. The highest amount of complaints was at around 6:00 a.m. ET, then reports of outages decreased throughout the day. However, multiple customers were still complaining by 3:00 p.m. ET that their Reddit accounts were still glitching.

“I just wanted to edit a comment, and now I’m incapable of doing literally anything except for DMing people,” one person commented on Downdetector. Another person chimed in by writing, “Ugh, Reddit not working. My pictures on my posts are saying deleted.”

A third user went so far as to comment, “While AWS is down, we’re all land-locked.”

Why Was Reddit Not Working?

Reddit seemingly wasn’t working for most of the day on October 20, 2025, because of the widespread AWS outage. Since Reddit has not publicly pointed to the AWS issue, it’s unclear what exactly caused the apparent problems that users reported.

On its official Reddit Status X account, the platform acknowledged the issue at around 6:30 a.m. ET. “Investigating: We’re experiencing an elevated level of errors and are currently looking into the issue.”

Multiple platforms including Venmo, Snapchat, Asana and the Ring Doorbell system all experienced errors today due to the AWS issue.

Advance Publications, the parent company of media conglomerate Condé Nast, owns Reddit.

What Did the AWS Outage Affect?

The AWS outage seemed to hit the entire internet pretty hard. With the exception of social media platforms including Meta’s Facebook and Instagram and Elon Musk‘s X.com, the Amazon outage appeared to impact numerous online services. Even banks and airlines were affected.
