D’Angelo’s son, Swayvo Twain (born Michael Eugene Archer Jr.), spoke out for the first time since his music icon father’s funeral in a heartfelt post to Instagram on Wednesday (Nov. 12), which featured parts of his emotional eulogy at the neo-soul legend’s memorial service last month.

“My dad, he came down to Atlanta. He spent three weeks with me. Anything we ever missed, any questions I ever had, anything I wanted to ask him about — anything — we just had every conversation,” Twain recalled. “Every laugh and every moment, man. It really just cleared my spirit, man. That’s the time I needed him the most ever. He stood right there.”

Twain explained how he gained a ton of clarity following his father’s funeral. “My mom [Angie Stone] passed and it left me with a lot of questions,” the 28-year-old added. “After [D’Angelo’s] funeral, I gained a lot of answers to things.”

Twain, a rapper and singer in his own right, is the eldest child of D’Angelo, who has two younger siblings: 26-year-old Imani and 15-year-old Morocco.

D’Angelo died at 51 years old following a battle with cancer on Oct. 14. “The shining star of our family has dimmed his light for us in this life,” his family said in a statement to Billboard. “After a prolonged and courageous battle with cancer, we are heartbroken to announce that Michael D’Angelo Archer, known to his fans around the world as D’Angelo, has been called home, departing this life today, Oct. 14, 2025.”

“We are saddened that he can only leave dear memories with his family, but we are eternally grateful for the legacy of extraordinarily moving music he leaves behind,” the statement continued. “We ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time but invite you all join us in mourning his passing while also celebrating the gift of song that he has left for the world.”

There was an outpouring of tributes from the music community, including heartfelt messages from Doja Cat, Tyler, the Creator, Jill Scott, The Alchemist and DJ Premier.

“RRR” director S.S. Rajamouli has unveiled the first look of Priyanka Chopra Jonas as Mandakini in his upcoming globe-trotting adventure film.

The film is described as “an original action-adventure epic following heroes on a series of perilous missions around the world.”

Ever since the global smash hit “RRR” claimed the Oscar for best original song and recalibrated Indian cinema’s global ambition, Rajamouli has set his sights higher. The film unites the director with Telugu cinema superstar Mahesh Babu and welcomes international star Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Malayalam powerhouse Prithviraj Sukumaran.

The title of the film will be revealed at a fan event in Hyderabad this weekend.

Rajamouli’s earlier two-part “Baahubali” saga, re-edited as “Baahubali: The Epic,” landed this year as a single film. 

Jonas returns to Indian cinema with a splash with Rajamouli’s film, portraying the enigmatic Mandakini’ in a first look that sees her in a mustard saree, pistol in hand, balanced on a cliff edge.  Her recent credits include her Prime Video film “Heads of State” (2025), alongside Idris Elba and John Cena, and her short-film contribution to the Oscar-nominated “Anuja.”

Telugu cinema superstar Mahesh Babu is working with Rajamouli for what is billed as his 29th film (hence the working title SSMB 29).  His recent release, “Guntur Kaaram” (2024) was a box office success and now he’s stepping into a much larger, globe-spanning canvas. 

Originating from Malayalam cinema, Prithviraj Sukumaran is now a pan-India star with film like “Salaar” and the “Lucifer” franchise. Already known for intense roles across systems, his participation signals the project’s ambition to blend South Indian star power into a unified global offering.

He attended a few events for Prince William’s Earthshot Prize, and then both men traveled to Belem for the first two days of the COP30 conference. PM Starmer was back in England in time to attend the Festival of Remembrance on Saturday night. It’s widely believed that Starmer and William traveled back to the UK together, but William still skipped the Festival of Remembrance. Lazy, lazy, lazy. Well, according to Kensington Palace, William and Starmer have a great relationship, and William is whinging to Starmer about how the government needs to “do more” on the environment. Big Boy Billy takes on big business: The Prince of Wales has criticised big businesses for “falling short” and lacking “courage” in their attempts to tackle climate change. Prince William, who spent five days last week in Brazil for his Earthshot prize awards and the Cop30 climate conference, is deeply frustrated by the private sector’s apathy on the environment.

William raised concerns, bless his heart: A royal source said: “During his visit to Brazil, the Prince of Wales raised his concern about the lack of meaningful support from global businesses in tackling the climate crisis when he met with the prime minister and the secretary of state for energy security and net zero. He believes that major companies are still not doing nearly enough. He wants to see bold leadership in the private sector and, honestly, many businesses are still reluctant to get involved. Even when some are making genuine progress, they’re rarely talking about it. There are positives, companies such as Ikea, Uber and [the food giant] Compass Group are showing real leadership and deserve credit, investing in Earthshot prize finalists. But far too many others are still falling short and it’s time for more of them to step up to the plate.”

William & Starmer: The prince has developed a “warm relationship” with Starmer, the first prime minister to attend William’s environmental awards since they began in 2021, and urged the government to encourage more action from the private sector on green issues.

Next year’s Earthshot will go to India: William plans to take next year’s Earthshot prize to India, in a sign of his determination to engage with the world’s biggest polluters. India, the most populous nation in the world with more than 1.4 billion people, is the world’s third-biggest polluter after China and America. The country is responsible for about 8 per cent of global carbon emissions, with coal as its primary power source, but has set a goal of reducing emissions by 50 per cent by 2030 and for the economy to be net zero by 2070. Neither Narendra Modi, the Indian prime minister, nor President Xi of China attended the Cop30 leaders’ conference last week.

Willy will go to China too: A royal source said: “This is about bringing people on the journey. We always said we’d like to take Earthshot to every corner of the planet. There are so many interesting things happening in India in the sector and the prince is looking forward to seeing it.” The Sunday Times has also revealed that William wants to take the prize to China in the next five years, despite the UK’s strained relations with the world’s biggest polluter, in marked contrast to his father’s approach. The King has never visited mainland China because of his views on the regime’s treatment of Tibet and its human rights record. William, however, is said to believe that you “can’t exclude a big chunk of the planet when thinking about fighting for its future”. Sources close to William said he had a “renewed sense of purpose” about taking the prize to China.

I actually forgot that Charles has never stepped foot in China. That’s a bit crazy, especially considering how well-traveled he was as Prince of Wales. As for William’s plan to go to India next year… lol. He is really going to march into India and try to lecture and bully the whole country, meanwhile India has become a thriving economic powerhouse and vibrant democracy with no need for an ugly white savior, especially one from a member of a supposed royal family which looted many of India’s treasures. William should arrive in India with the Kohinoor diamond in hand before he lectures anyone on the environment. As for all of the stuff about Basher Billy lecturing businesses about the environment – he just comes across as so deeply unlikeable, unaccomplished and pitiful.

This six-part psychological thriller series will premiere all episodes starting in December. When perfect stay-at-home Jess rushes her baby to the ER with a head injury, she’s treated by one of her closest friends, Liz. Alarmed by Jess’ behavior, Liz calls social services, triggering an major chain of events – that ripples, fractures and nearly destroys not only their families but also their entire friendship group. Directed by BAFTA nominee Eva Sigurðardóttir (Good Night, Rainbow Party), the series pairs realism and suspense to create an intimate yet unnerving portrait of modern motherhood. Anchored by Diane Kruger, the ensemble cast also includes Jo Joyner, Shelley Conn, Emily Taaffe, JJ Feild, Ben Bailey Smith, Patrick Baladi, & Stephen Campbell Moore. Kanye West’s rampant glorification of Hitler and Nazism could jeopardize his November 29th concert in São Paulo, Brasil.

As reported by Metrópoles, the São Paulo State Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPSP) has ordered the Riot Police to keep officers on standby during the show, with specific instructions to arrest Ye on the spot “if he sings a song or makes any kind of apology for Nazism.”

The order aims to prevent West from performing “Heil Hitler,” his May song glorifying German Nazi Party leader Adolf Hitler. The arrest threat reportedly extends to two of the show’s promoters, Guilherme Cavalcante and Jean Fabrício Ramos (Faublous Fabz).

It’s worth noting that West still hasn’t booked a new venue for the concert, so this all may be a moot point. On Monday, São Paulo mayor Ricardo Nunes said the city would not provide a public space for the show, which was initially set to take place at the Interlagos racetrack before being canceled in early October.

“No one who promotes Nazism will play or sing any words on public equipment belonging to the City Hall,” Nunes said, according to Metrópoles. “We do not accept it and we will do everything necessary to ensure that no one who promotes Nazism has any kind of activity here in the city of São Paulo.”

Earlier this year, West was also banned from entering Australia for “Heil Hitler.”

Spotify To Launch Music Videos In U.S. And Canada In Coming Weeks

Giant music streamer Spotify, which in January started rolling out music videos in beta in 98 markets outside the U.S. and Canada, will be introducing them Stateside in the coming weeks, a spokesperson confirmed to Deadline.

No specific date or details were provided for the move, which will set Spotify as a rival to YouTube in the space. As in other markets, they will be available for premium subscribers.

The tipoff came in the announcement of new platform Spotify and the National Music Publishers’ Association unveiled on Tuesday — specifically a new “Opt-In Portal” for NMPA members to enter into a direct license agreement for expanded audiovisual rights in the U.S. A Spotify press post said the new agreements will mean higher royalty payouts for independent music publishers and songwriters, and, in exchange Spotify will receive new rights to build video features “that better connect artists and fans.” 

“This new partnership with the NMPA will increase revenue for songwriters and independent publishers who are the heart of the industry,” said Spotify’s Co-President and Chief Business Officer, Alex Norström. “We look forward to continuing to work with the NMPA to create new value and opportunities for their members.”

“We are pleased that this deal offers indie publishers the chance to enter into direct deals with Spotify in regard to audiovisual streaming functionality on the platform alongside the recently announced larger publishing companies,” added David Israelite, president and CEO, NMPA. “This new income stream reflects the growing value of songs as digital platforms offer new capabilities to consumers.” 

The NMPA Opt-In Portal was open to eligible publishers starting November 11 with onboarding continuing through December 19.
