Disney’s animated sequel “Zootopia 2” continued to tower over the Korean box office, delivering $6.7 million from more than 1 million admissions over the Dec. 12–14 frame. According to KOBIS, the tracking service operated by the Korean Film Council, the film now stands at a commanding $35.2 million cumulative gross since its Nov. 26 debut, accounting for nearly two-thirds of the weekend’s total market share.

Local comedy-drama “The People Upstairs” held firmly in second place, adding $948,236 to lift its total to $2.6 million after two weekends in release. The film drew 140,352 admissions across 768 screens, remaining the strongest Korean performer in the chart. Directed by Ha Jung-woo and starring Gong Hyo-jin, Kim Dong-wook, Lee Ha-nee and Ha Jung-woo himself, the film follows a downstairs couple driven to exhaustion by constant noise from their upstairs neighbours. A tense dinner meant to resolve the issue quickly unravels into an evening of sharp confessions and shifting dynamics.

Family fare “Pororo the Movie: Sweet Castle Adventure” opened in third with $449,879 from 74,435 admissions, narrowly edging out Universal’s horror sequel “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2,” which collected $449,123 and pushed its cumulative tally to $1.2 million.

Japanese action-fantasy “Jujutsu Kaisen: Shibuya Incident / Culling Game – The Movie” followed in fifth, earning $405,974 for a running total of $2 million. Directed by Shōta Goshozono, the film condenses the anime’s Shibuya Incident arc as Yuji Itadori and his allies face a coordinated curse attack on Halloween. The aftermath sets up the looming Culling Game and Yuta Okkotsu’s mission that puts Yuji’s fate in jeopardy.

In sixth place, “Wicked: For Good” added $224,840, bringing its Korean total to $6.4 million. “The Running Man” placed seventh with $115,810 in its second weekend.

South Korean crime comedy “The Informant” slipped to eighth, grossing $86,310 for a cumulative $916,697. Directed by Kim Seok, the film stars Heo Sung-tae and Jo Bok-rae as a compromised smuggling informant and a hapless detective who blunders into the operation. Forced into an uneasy alliance after both take substantial losses, the pair attempt to claw their way back while dismantling the criminal ring.

Illusionist sequel “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” followed with $81,568, lifting its total to $8.7 million.

Rounding out the top 10, Japanese filmmaker Miyake Sho’s Locarno Golden Leopard winner “Two Seasons, Two Strangers” earned $80,278, bringing its cumulative gross to $136,275. Drawing from Tsuge Yoshiharu’s 1967 and 1968 short stories, the film follows a screenwriter named Lee (played by Korean actress Shim Eun-kyung) as she embarks on contrasting seasonal journeys — a summer encounter at a seaside town and a winter retreat to a remote mountain lodge.

The top 10 films collectively grossed $9.5 million over the Dec. 12–14 weekend, down from the previous frame’s $12.1 million.

‘Zootopia 2’ Leads the Pack with $38.5 Million

Theater owners are surely giving thanks to “Zootopia 2” and “Wicked: For Good,” which delivered a much-needed one-two punch to the Black Friday box office.

Disney’s “Zootopia 2” led the pack with a stellar $38.5 million from 4,000 domestic theaters on Friday. That brings the North American count to $97.7 million since its Wednesday debut. Box office prophets predict the animated sequel will gross upwards of $155 million over the first five days of release. While unable to dethrone “Moana 2” as the highest Thanksgiving week earner of all time ($225 million over five days), anything above $150 million would slot “Zootopia 2” well over Turkey Day power grossers like “Frozen II” ($125 million over five days) and “Hunger Games: Catching Fire” ($109 million in the same time frame).

Directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, “Zootopia 2” sees the return of unlikely police duo Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) as they investigate the presence of a reptilian outsider (Ke Huy Quan) in their mammal-centric metropolis.

In second place is “Wicked: For Good,” which took home $26 million in its second Friday at the domestic box office from 4,115 theaters. That makes for a 62% decline from its $68.6 million debut last Friday. Jon M. Chu’s musical sequel has grossed $226.6 million at the domestic box office so far, and is projected to land somewhere around $270 million at the end of the five-day holiday frame.

“Eternity,” a fantasy romance from A24, opened in sixth place on Friday, earning an estimated $1.1 million from 1,348 locations. That brings the domestic total to around $3.1 million since Wednesday. From director David Freyne, the film stars Elizabeth Olsen and Miles Teller as a married couple who reunite in the afterlife, only to have their relationship challenged by an old flame, played by Callum Turner.

In its sophomore outing, “Rental Family,” starring Brendan Fraser as an expat actor working in Japan as a stand-in father for a young girl, landed in seventh place $800,000 in North America, according to rival estimates. The Searchlight Pictures release sat well with critics and audiences (86% on Rotten Tomatoes and “A” grade on CinemaScore), which could help earnings through the holiday season.

Chloé Zhao’s awards hopeful “Hamnet” opened in a limited release on Wednesday before it goes wide in December. The film earned $300,000 domestically from 119 locations. Starring Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley as William and Agnes Shakespeare, respectively, the film chronicles the creation of the tragedy of “Hamlet.” The film is expected to compete for 11 categories come Oscar time, including best picture, best director, best actress and best actor.

At No. 3 was “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t,” the third installment in the magical heist series. The film earned an estimated $2.6 million domestically on Friday. The film looks to add $10 million through Sunday for a North American total of $49 million. “Predator: Badlands” took fourth, hunting down $1.8 million domestically on Friday. The film has earned $82 million in North America so far. Finally, in fifth place was Edgar Wright’s dystopian action comedy “The Running Man,” which took home $980,000 on Friday. The film should hit $34 million in North America by Sunday.

Shraddha Kapoor becomes the voice of Judy Hopps in Zootopia 2’s Hindi version

Shraddha Kapoor is entering a fresh chapter of her artistic journey. Loved for her bright smile and effortless charm on screen, she is now stepping into the Disney universe. Shraddha will voice Judy Hopps in the Hindi version of Zootopia 2, the spirited bunny police officer who became a worldwide favourite. This time, her voice becomes the main storyteller, allowing fans to experience her talent in a new way.

Disney India shared the announcement with a cute poster showing Shraddha and Judy together. Along with the visual, the official page wrote, “Bohot jyada excited to join the #Zootopia2 family, as the voice of THE AMAZING Judy Hopps in Hindi — she is feisty, courageous, enthu cutlet aur cute toh hai hi bachpan se! Kal aa raha hai aapke liye ek anokha surprise. Stay tuned! #Zootopia2 – In cinemas November 28.” The moment the post went live, fans celebrated the news, thrilled to see Shraddha enter this animated world.

What makes this casting so perfect is Shraddha’s expressive and lively voice. She has a natural softness paired with energy, which matches Judy’s fearless and hopeful personality. Instead of her expressions or performance taking the lead, this time her voice carries the emotion. It is refreshing to see her explore a space where every feeling must be conveyed through voice alone.

With Shraddha now part of the Zootopia universe, the anticipation for the film has only grown. Judy Hopps represents determination and endless optimism, and Shraddha’s playful tone will make the character even more lovable in Hindi. As the film arrives in theatres on November 28, fans already know she will make Judy sound full of heart and enthusiasm.
