Taylor Swift‘s “The Fate of Ophelia” music video is now streaming on YouTube, following an exclusive early release to movie theaters in the U.S. on Friday (Oct. 3).

Written and directed by Swift herself, the music video for “The Fate of Ophelia” made it online Sunday night (Oct. 5). The reference-filled visual has the pop star playing several parts, or showing several sides — among them the once ill-fated Ophelia of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, the lead in a Golden Age Hollywood movie musical, a frontwoman to a 1960s girl group, and the modern Swift showgirl that audiences know and love.

Of course, Swift’s single imagines an Ophelia who makes her way out of a destined tragic ending.

In the accompanying music video (seen below), Swift crawls out of an on-set version of a Sir John Everett Millais painting circa the 1850s that famously depicts Ophelia’s drowning. She performs different iterations of a “Fate of Ophelia” show — in homage to the likenesses of Marilyn Monroe in one scene and Ronnie Spector/The Ronettes in another, and center soundstage in an Anything Goes-inspired ensemble — and ends up soaking in her bathtub by the clip’s end. She’s presumably exhausted after playing all the parts, but still quite alive.

“The Fate of Ophelia” music video wraps with the image that became the official album cover for Swift’s newly released The Life of a Showgirl.

Earlier on Sunday, Swift’s team posted a short interview clip that has the singer-songwriter explaining how the album art came to be.

“There was this moment in the photo shoot [with photographers Mert Alaş and Marcus Piggott] right at the end of the day, the last setup, I’m in this bathtub in this bedazzled dress,” she said. “They take my picture. I see it on the monitor. I see it pop up. Even though it was at the weirdest angle, and I’m in the bathtub, I’m just like, ‘That’s the cover.’ And it was.”

She added, “I went and looked at the picture like, ‘Yeah. That’s it.’ I think it represents to me that you’ve done all this work, you’ve done a three-and-a-half hour show, you’ve done the lead-up to it, you’ve done the warm-ups, you’ve gotten through it. Anything that could’ve gone wrong, you sidestepped. You finally get back, what do you do? You take a bath.”

“That’s what I do in those situations,” she said. “It’s like that moment of relaxation. That moment the cameras are down, the lights are off. What do you have to say? What’s your story? Who are you then? That’s really the story of this album.”

Opening-day album sales for The Life of a Showgirl, as reported by data tracking firm Luminate, reached 2.7 million on its first day of release (Oct. 3). That tally counts traditional album sales (physical and digital purchases) across all versions of the album. It marks Swift’s biggest week ever, and the second-largest sales week for any album since Luminate began electronically tracking data in 1991; Adele currently holds the largest sales week with 25. Further news of Showgirl‘s first-week building sales and streaming activity will be available in the coming days.

“The Fate of Ophelia” music video was first shown in theaters as part of The Release Party of a Showgirl, Swift’s theatrical event that opened at No. 1 at the box office this weekend. The screening featured the music video premiere and behind-the-scenes footage from making it, plus Swift’s commentary on all 12 songs from The Life of a Showgirl and a first viewing of each track’s lyric video. It also revealed an unexpected co-star appearing in “The Fate of Ophelia” video: a loaf of Swift’s homemade sourdough bread.

Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Move Court Against YouTube, Google Over Deepfake Videos

by jummy84 October 2, 2025
written by jummy84

Actor couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have taken a decisive stand against the growing menace of deepfake content. According to a Reuters report, the two have filed legal action against YouTube and its parent company Google, seeking $450,000 (nearly ₹4 crore) in damages, along with a permanent injunction to prevent the misuse of their likeness through artificial intelligence–generated videos.

The case highlights a pressing concern within the entertainment industry: the rise of AI-driven deepfakes that blur the line between real and fabricated content, often with damaging consequences for celebrities.

Allegations in the Lawsuits

The lawsuits, filed separately by Abhishek and Aishwarya, reportedly contain hundreds of links and screenshots of YouTube videos that the actors describe as “egregious,” “sexually explicit,” or “fictitious” AI-generated material. The couple argues that these videos not only harm their reputation but also pose larger questions about how platforms regulate the misuse of artificial intelligence.

According to Reuters, the filings, dated September 6, raise particular concern over YouTube’s content and third-party training policies. These policies, the actors claim, allow users to give consent for their videos to be used in training AI models — a loophole that risks the further spread of infringing and misleading content.

The Risk of AI Misuse

The filings reportedly warn that when such harmful content is used to train AI systems, the problem is compounded. The documents state:
“Such content being used to train AI models has the potential to multiply the instances of use of any infringing content, i.e. first being uploaded on YouTube, being viewed by the public, and then also being used to train.”

The couple further argues that if AI platforms are trained on biased or defamatory content, the technology will inevitably learn and replicate these falsehoods. This, they claim, not only infringes their intellectual property rights but also risks spreading untrue and damaging portrayals across digital platforms.

Court Proceedings So Far

The matter is currently being heard in the Delhi High Court. Last month, the court asked Google’s legal representatives to submit written responses before the next scheduled hearing on January 15. Until then, the case has drawn considerable attention as one of the high-profile legal battles over AI misuse in India.

Legal experts believe that this case could set a significant precedent in how Indian courts deal with the intersection of celebrity rights, intellectual property, and AI-generated content.

Why This Matters

The misuse of AI to generate deepfake videos has become a global issue. From fake political speeches to manipulated celebrity clips, the technology has sparked debates about consent, regulation, and digital ethics. For actors like Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, whose personal and professional lives are constantly under public scrutiny, the stakes are even higher.

By taking legal action, the Bachchans are not only safeguarding their own reputations but also drawing attention to the urgent need for stricter controls on AI content moderation. Their move may inspire other public figures to pursue similar actions, especially as deepfake content becomes harder for audiences to distinguish from reality.

The Bachchans’ Film Updates

Away from the courtroom, both Abhishek and Aishwarya continue to maintain active careers in cinema.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was last seen in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: II (2023), where her performance earned widespread praise. She has not yet officially announced her next project, though speculation about upcoming films continues to follow her.

Abhishek Bachchan was most recently seen in Madhumita’s Kaalidhar Laapata, co-starring Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Daivik Bhagela. Looking ahead, he is set to appear in Siddharth Anand’s King, a star-studded project that will feature Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan.

Looking Ahead

The outcome of this case will be closely watched, not just by fans of the Bachchans but also by the global entertainment community. As AI technology continues to advance, questions of privacy, consent, and accountability will only grow louder.

For now, Abhishek and Aishwarya’s legal challenge signals a strong pushback against the unchecked rise of deepfake exploitation — a move that could shape the future of digital rights in India.

Sinclair Puts Charlie Kirk Special On YouTube Instead Of Kimmel's Slot

Sinclair Puts Charlie Kirk Special On YouTube Instead Of Kimmel’s Slot

by jummy84 September 21, 2025
written by jummy84

After announcing a Charlie Kirk tribute special to take over Jimmy Kimmel‘s time slot, Sinclair backed out of Friday’s planned programming.

The country’s largest ABC affiliate group instead shared a YouTube link to the special after making an example of Jimmy Kimmel Live! in a statement announcing they would be giving the remembrance his late-night slot.

“Tonight, Sinclair will continue to air ABC network programming as scheduled in the late-night time period,” the company shared in a Friday update on X. “The Charlie Kirk special will instead be available on The National News Desk’s YouTube channel, ensuring viewers can continue to enjoy ABC programming while also providing full access to the special online.”

The latest comes after Disney‘s announcement that the late-night show will be “preempted indefinitely,” following the FCC‘s warning about Kimmel’s Kirk comments.

In a news release, Sinclair previously announced that they will not lift the suspension on Kimmel’s show “until formal discussions are held with ABC regarding the network’s commitment to professionalism and accountability.”

“Sinclair also calls upon Mr. Kimmel to issue a direct apology to the Kirk family. Furthermore, we ask Mr. Kimmel to make a meaningful personal donation to the Kirk Family and Turning Point USA,” the statement continued. “Regardless of ABC’s plans for the future of the program, Sinclair intends not to return Jimmy Kimmel Live! to our air until we are confident that appropriate steps have been taken to uphold the standards expected of a national broadcast platform.”

Sinclair Vice Chairman Jason Smith said in a statement, “Mr. Kimmel’s remarks were inappropriate and deeply insensitive at a critical moment for our country. We believe broadcasters have a responsibility to educate and elevate respectful, constructive dialogue in our communities. We appreciate FCC Chairman Carr’s remarks today and this incident highlights the critical need for the FCC to take immediate regulatory action to address control held over local broadcasters by the big national networks.”

The stunning suspension of Kimmel comes mere minutes after Nexstar also axed his late-night show on the 32 ABC affiliates it owns out of a total of 200 stations throughout the nation.

“Nexstar’s owned and partner television stations affiliated with the ABC Television Network will preempt Jimmy Kimmel Live! for the foreseeable future beginning with tonight’s show,” said the company in a statement Wednesday. “Nexstar strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk and will replace the show with other programming in its ABC-affiliated markets.”

Known for his ‘Prove Me Wrong’ debates and MAGA POV, activist Kirk was shot dead at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10 in a tragedy that has sent shock through the political and media worlds.

Having previously mocked Trump over POTUS’ take on the NFL and TikTok, Kimmel offered his blunt assessment of the aftermath of Kirk’s death in his opening monologue on his September 15 show: “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” the host said.

Piers Morgan ‘Uncensored’ YouTube Show Heading To Channel 5

by jummy84 September 5, 2025
written by jummy84

In what has been described as the “worlds-first collaboration between a YouTube current affairs show and a legacy broadcaster,” Piers Morgan’s Uncensored show has found a fresh linear home on Channel 5 (now 5).

Piers Morgan Uncensored will be shown as a 90-minute highlights show on the Paramount UK network each week, 5 has just revealed, with the first airing next Friday at 11 p.m. GMT (3 p.m. PT).

Uncensored features Morgan’s take on the week’s news along with high-profile interviews with the likes of Donald Trump, Cristiano Ronaldo and the ‘real-life Martha’ from Baby Reindeer. The show was previously the flagship for Rupert Murdoch’s now-defunct linear network TalkTV, but Morgan took it YouTube-only last year, claiming that he could get far more viewers on that platform. He says that it has picked up more than one billion views in the past three years. Today’s surprise move marks a return to linear for the ex-CNN host who also used to present a morning show on ITV.

Traditional TV gatekeepers leveraging YouTube was one of the big topics at last month’s Edinburgh TV Festival. However, Morgan’s move certainly marks the first time a show has left linear to YouTube, only to return to a different linear platform.

Morgan said: “I’m really excited our show will be crashing onto British TV screens in a game-changing partnership with 5, bringing viewers the most explosive debates,  jaw-dropping interviews, and headline-grabbing moments every single week.”

5 commissioner Federico Ruiz added: “Being thrilled to have Piers Morgan on 5 doesn’t scratch the surface. Uncensored will be an excellent fit: our viewers love straight talk, big opinions, and unapologetic personalities—and Piers delivers all three and then some. A linear, terrestrial broadcaster partnering with a current affairs YouTube channel is the sort of exciting cross-cultural handshake that marks where the industry is heading. The fuse is lit. We’re braced for impact … Piers is coming to 5.”

With rumors around its future in the Paramount-Skydance era swirling, 5 has had a good week, having struck a new deal for NFL rights last week. Commissioned by Ruiz, Commissioning Editor 5 and Paramount +, Piers Morgan Uncensored is a  Wake Up Production. Executive editor is Alex Campbell.

Fox Corp. And YouTube TV Strike Carriage Deal, Ending Threat Of Blackout

Fox Corp. And YouTube TV Strike Carriage Deal, Ending Threat Of Blackout

by jummy84 August 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Fox Corp. and YouTube TV have agreed on a renewed carriage agreement, ending the threat of a blackout that would have affected a major college football game and potentially the start of the NFL season.

The companies did not release details or offer anything more than a brief statement affirming that the Fox broadcast network, Fox News, plus six other networks and more than two dozen local stations will remain active. YouTube TV, which launched in 2017, is now a leading pay-TV provider, with more than 8 million subscribers.

As the Wednesday afternoon contract deadline approached, Fox and YouTube agreed on a short-term extension to continue negotiating, indicating a resolution was imminent.

Fox will carry a highly anticipated college football matchup on Saturday between Ohio State and Texas, the first time since 2017 that the No. 1 team in the polls has faced No. 3 in Week 1 of the season. The NFL season, which starts next Thursday, often sees its biggest ratings of a given week with Fox’s late-afternoon NFC window.

As the saber-rattling began in recent days, YouTube TV told its customers they would have the option to sign up for Fox’s just-launched subscription streaming outlet Fox One in the event of a blackout. The pay-TV operator was also promising a $10 credit on subscribers’ bills.

More than most of its media rivals, Fox is heavily dependent upon linear carriage, and has secured significant carriage fee increases in recent years despite the ongoing shrinkage of the pay-TV bundle. Historically, the company has been aggressive in seeking fee increases and this time of year it has a strong hand, with Fox News ratings robust and the Fox broadcast network entering its prime season. In addition to college football and the NFL, Fox also has carried Major League Baseball playoffs and the World Series in October for the past two-plus decades and it has remained a strong ratings draw.

The impasse got the attention of FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, who expressed impatience with it even though his agency does not have jurisdiction in carriage disputes.

“Google removing Fox channels from YouTube TV would be a terrible outcome,” Carr posted on X. “Millions of Americans are relying on YouTube to resolve this dispute so they can keep watching the news and sports they want – including this week’s Big Game: Texas @ Ohio State. Get a deal done Google!”

YouTube responded with its own post on X: “We love football too @brendancarrfcc! We’re working hard to negotiate a deal that’s fair to Fox, our valued subscribers and all of our partners. Stay tuned.”

“It is with heavy hearts that we share our beloved Brother, Malik Taylor, has gone to ‘Audit Eternal,’” the post read. “To know him was to know he was a light to everyone—always bringing laughter, joy and a warm smile that brightened every room he entered.” The fraternity added, “Though your time with us was far too short, you were a good and faithful Brother, and the ‘Great Auditor’ will reward you for your everlasting work.”

Taylor built a following of more than 250,000 across Instagram and TikTok with his witty breakdowns of pop culture and comedic “POV” videos. He also created content for his YouTube channel, The Unpopular Party, which has over 94,000 subscribers.

Just one day before his death, Taylor told fans about his move to Charlotte, N.C., declaring, “The Queen City need the king.”
