10 Women On How They Went From Friends To Lovers

by jummy84 October 2, 2025
written by jummy84

If we’ve learnt anything from Ginnifier Goodwin, Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis movies, it’s that the “friends to lovers” cliché is part of the golden trio of rom-com love stories. Next to the “enemies to lovers” trope, and the “random strangers brought together by fate” story arc, of course.

The Best Fall Jackets for Women in 2025, Vetted by Style Editors

by jummy84 October 2, 2025
written by jummy84

The best fall jackets aren’t just a seasonal necessity—they’re also a great chance to punch up any outfit. A few key staples trend every year, and for good reason: Trench coats protect you from wind and rain, denim jackets make perfect light layers, and classic wool makes it easy to transition into winter.

But this season’s jacket trends are also bringing some fresh inspiration our way. Barn jackets are back for another season and more popular than ever, while cropped trenches have picked up endorsements from brands like Burberry and celebrities like Katie Holmes. And the animal world—sturdy leather, smooth suede, wild prints, and faux fur—is having a major moment for fall, thanks to the rise of boho style. From casual (yet work-appropriate) shackets for layering over fall dresses to edgier leather outerwear you can throw on with jeans, these stylish jackets will make you the belle of the…pumpkin patch.

1. The leather jacket

Leather’s appeal is timeless: The material is textural, durable, and at once both edgy and chic. But it’s impossible to deny that the stuff, in all its forms (including incredibly popular suede), is having a banner year, popping up on too many fall runways to count and playing into all of our current outfit ideas. While you don’t have to stick to an earthy palette here, chocolate brown is far and away the color of the moment; sleek black, olive green, and deep maroon are its equally cute sisters.

2. The denim jacket

Denim reaches the height of its powers each fall, and your autumn capsule really isn’t complete until you have a jean jacket in tow. The silhouette is roomy enough for easy layering from September through December; wear one over a T-shirt now, then sub in a chunky sweater when temperatures start to drop. And beyond wearing one for mere warmth, styling a denim jacket is beyond easy—just throw on some matching jeans and some loafers or ankle boots for an easy outfit that feels intentional.

3. The trench coat

It seems like everyone owns a trench right now—and we wouldn’t have it any other way. The easy layer locks out fall’s worst weather, and the highly modular design offers near endless styling potential. Try popping the collar to make a statement; leave the buttons undone but cinch the waist for some extra oomph; tighten the cuffs for a more editorial look. Khaki is the most classic shade here, but feel free to test out trendy colors (dark brown) or materials (waxed canvas, faux leather) if they speak to you.

4. The workwear jacket

By now you know that barn jackets are all the rage for 2025, with fashion insiders putting their own spins on the hardworking classics. But other utility-forward silhouettes, like chore coats and pocket-laden layers, are also trending right now. (Collectively, it seems, we’re asking more from our outerwear.) That’s great news, considering you can now find workwear-inspired jackets in every color, shape, and material. Survey the best options in our edit below.

5. The sporty jacket

Stand-collar nylon jackets have been absolutely everywhere during Fashion Month—see the Lululemon pick below to understand the vibe—but that’s just the beginning of fall’s newfound obsession with sporty layers. Coach jackets, retro fleece layers, and packable puffers worthy of a hiking trip are also very much in the conversation. You could go with your go-to leggings and call it a day, but we’ll encourage you to go more unexpected with a lace skirt, creased jeans, or slipdresses.

6. The wool jacket

One of the easiest ways to make any ensemble feel elevated is to add a wool layer on top. These luxe-looking jackets lend anything—baggy jeans, tailored trousers, sweatpants, you name it—an air of sophistication, and they’re great for helping your fall wardrobe fade seamlessly into winter. Trust us: Each of these finds will quickly become go-tos.

7. The fur jacket

After appearing on too many runways to count this season, from Miu Miu to Simone Rocha, faux fur is one of fall’s absolute biggest trends. And whether you run cold or love to make a statement, this is your excuse to go big with your fall outerwear. Ladylike, collarless picks make great layering pieces, especially with button-downs or dramatic necklaces; collared silhouettes, meanwhile, bring a ’70s boho energy that pairs well with flared jeans and romantic dresses. Take your pick!

Karan Kundrra responds to ex Anusha Dandekar’s indirect cheating comment: ‘Cruel elite women can say anything’

by jummy84 October 2, 2025
written by jummy84

Anusha Dandekar recently reignited controversy by taking an indirect dig at her ex Karan Kundrra, hinting that he cheated on her and was “sleeping with all of Mumbai” when they were in a relationship. Stirring the drama further, Karan hit back at the accusations, questioning why “these cruel elite women with connections to big Bollywood families get away with systemic harassment, and mental badgering.”

Karan Kundrra and Anusha Dandekar were together for three-and-a-half years before they broke up in 2020.

Karan hits back at Anusha

Karan took to his Instagram account to share a note about the cheating allegations levied against him by his former girlfriend, Anusha, without naming her. However, he later deleted the post. The same has surfaced on various social media handles, including Reddit.

In his now deleted post, Karan wrote, “87 articles in three hours and for what?? To sell a podcast!? Is this the inspiration that’s being instilled into the young boys & girls of our country?? Is this entertainment for you?? It’s unfortunate that today these cruel elite women can say ANYTHING and they will be applauded and men like me have no where to go, we come from small cities work extremely hard, persevere away from our loved ones and NO one supports till the spark is sucked out of you, your vibrant personality becomes a reminiscence of the past and you end up as a ‘justice for.. hashtag.”

The actor also wondered why there are no consequences for people who put out blind items.

“At 4 in the morning as I lay alone in my bed, consumed with utter disappointment and helplessness, I wonder why these ‘smash the patriarchy’ women with connections to big Bollywood families intoxicated till their eyelids in power, get away with systemic harassment, mental badgering, degrading persecution, why!??,” Karan asked.

He continued, “They break you with these ‘blind items’, creep into your confidence and step by step fracture your strength! Now I’m beginning to understand why even the most seemingly successful, strong, bright men end up taking their lives in this country, coz there is no accountability, no consequences that these woke women have to face.”

What did Anusha say in her podcast

On her YouTube channel Unverified — The Podcast, Anusha took an indirect dig at Karan.

Without naming Karan, Anusha said, “Most incredible experience I had with dating apps was, I was signed to do campaigns for a dating app, and at the time, the boyfriend, I got him the deal as well, to do the campaign with me. The most he’s ever been paid for this campaign, ever in life. And he used the dating app to talk and meet with girls, and we’re doing the campaign together.”

Anusha mentioned that she felt betrayed after she got to know about her former boyfriend’s infidelity. She added, “Like, we are supposed to be the faces together, but he’s using it to talk to girls and meet girls, which I found out much later when I found out he was sleeping with all of Mumbai (sic).”

While she has not mentioned the name of Karan, people connected the dots as she was once a brand ambassador for the dating app Bumble while dating Karan, and he, too, was part of the deal.

More about Karan and Anusha’s relationship

Karan and Anusha were together for three and a half years before they broke up in 2020. From 2016-2019, they co-hosted the reality show MTV Love School, in which they helped couples overcome their differences.

In 2021, Anusha, during an Ask Me Anything session on Instagram, was asked to give a ‘direct reason’ for her break-up. “Please, just want to know the direct reason for your break-up if you can tell it?!” one fan asked Anusha, to which she replied, “We deserve more honesty, love and happiness…and it starts with self-love. So, I chose me. That’s it.” In the past, she has suggested that Karan cheated on her and lied to her, an allegation that he has denied.

However, Karan, in an interview with a leading daily, laughed off allegations of cheating on Anusha. At the moment, Karan is dating actor Tejasswi Prakash.

Faridabad oncologist warns women not to ignore this first sign of breast cancer: ‘Any female above 40 should take…’

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

Breast health is something every woman should pay attention to, yet many ignore the subtle signs that could indicate a serious issue. Early detection can make all the difference in treatment and outcomes. In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Dr Sunny Jain, Sr. Consultant and HOD, Medical Oncology, Accord Super Speciality Hospital, Faridabad, shares the very first sign of breast cancer that women should never overlook, offering crucial advice to help catch it in time. (Also read: Oncologist debunks 4 common myths about early breast cancer every woman should know: ‘Recurrence is not inevitable…’ )

Breast cancer awareness is essential, especially for women over 40, says oncologist.(Freepik)

Key symptoms to watch for

“Breast cancer is rising worldwide, and increasingly affecting women at younger ages, often younger than 50. That’s why regular screening and awareness of breast changes are crucial. Not all lumps in the breast are cancerous; many are benign. However, any new lump in the breast or armpit should never be ignored,” says Dr Sunny.

He advises, “The first and foremost symptom of breast cancer is having a lump in the breast. Don’t ignore it. If you notice a new lump, swelling, thickening, or a change in the size or shape of the breast, consult your doctor immediately.”

Other warning signs include:

  • Dimpling of the skin that looks like an orange peel
  • Pain in the breast or nipples
  • Nipple retraction (turning inward)
  • Nipple discharge other than breast milk
  • Swollen lymph nodes under the arm or near the collarbone
  • Skin changes of the breast
  • Nipple changes, such as puckering, retraction, or inversion

“Women should be well aware of these changes and examine their breasts monthly, usually after the menstrual cycle,” Dr Sunny adds.

Dr Sunny emphasises the importance of regular self-exams for lumps or changes in breast tissue.(Freepik)
Dr Sunny emphasises the importance of regular self-exams for lumps or changes in breast tissue.(Freepik)

Understanding breast tissue and self-examination

The breast is made of glandular and fatty tissue, which affects how it feels at different ages. Younger women have denser, firmer breasts due to the predominance of glandular tissue, while older women’s breasts feel softer as fatty tissue increases, and may droop over time.

“Knowing these differences helps you determine what a lump may feel like,” Dr Sunny explains. “When examining your breasts, use the flat of your fingers, don’t pinch or prod. Start with a light touch, then press a little deeper. Never press so hard that it causes pain; that means you’re examining too forcefully.”

When to seek diagnosis

If a lump persists and stands out from normal breast tissue, it is essential to pursue a proper diagnosis, regardless of mammogram or ultrasound findings. Outpatient core biopsy is the most definitive method to determine whether the lump requires follow-up.

“Many lumps turn out to be fibroadenomas, which are benign and don’t increase future breast cancer risk. Some lesions may need resection and could have implications for future breast cancer,” Dr Sunny notes.

Family history is another important factor. Cases of breast cancer in younger women, multiple cases of bilateral breast cancer, ovarian cancer, or breast cancer in males may warrant gene testing.

What are the treatment options

Treatment depends on the cancer stage, type, receptor status, and age at diagnosis. Options include:

  • Surgery
  • Chemotherapy
  • Radiotherapy
  • Immunotherapy and targeted therapy
  • Hormonal therapy

Dr Sunny emphasises, “Any female at or above age of 40 years presenting with a breast lump should be considered to be suffering from breast cancer until proven otherwise.”

Regular self-examination, awareness of subtle changes, timely consultation, and family history assessment are crucial steps every woman should take. “Early detection saves lives. Never ignore even minor changes in your breast,” advises Dr Sunny.

10 Best Petite Leggings for Short Women 2025, Tested and Reviewed

by jummy84 September 30, 2025
written by jummy84

The best petite leggings in my closet are the ones I reach for the most. They never drag or scrunch at my ankles, and most importantly, I always feel confident wearing them. As a shopping editor, I’ve tested over a dozen activewear brands over the years and written about some of my favorite women’s leggings. And since I’m 5-feet-2, I frequently run into pairs that are way too long on my ankles, have too-long inseams, or feature awkward waistband lengths. So to help you find the most petite-friendly pairs, I tested options designed for shorter frames, like 7/8-length and capri leggings. I’m a pretty active person, so you can trust these pairs will really hold up on runs, through workout classes, or just while lounging at home.

The best petite leggings, at a glance

Lululemon Align No Line High-Ride Pants, 25”

Everyone needs a good pair of black leggings in their closet, and that’s what these Lululemon tights are for me. My fellow editors love their durability (it never pills or shrinks after multiple washes) and that famously soft, stretchy fabric. I picked this pair as the best option for petites overall because of the length and inseam options; you can get 23-, 25-, 28-, and 31-inch lengths, which is great for women of different heights. (The 23-inch size is the shortest I’ve seen compared to other brands.) I love that they’re versatile for any activity, whether it’s working out intensely or walking around my neighborhood. Dress this pair up for fall and winter with a puffer vest or a zip-up jacket for a sporty vibe—or go with a cropped trench coat and ballet flats for a more elevated look.

Pros: Soft, stretchy fabric; two unique petite crops available
Cons: Pricey

Athleta Elation Ultra-High-Rise Double Up Leggings

Original video by Jenifer Calle testing Athleta Elation Ultra High Rise Double Up Legging

I’ve recommended this pair of high-waisted leggings time and time again because they’re just that good. I’ve worn them for just about everything, from reformer Pilates classes to lounging at home. I particularly like them for hot Pilates mat classes because they don’t feel sticky, even after I’ve been moving for close to an hour. The design is firm in the all the right places, but I’m able to stretch and slip in and out of this pair without hassle. They’re comfortable enough for all-day wear, and I’m obsessed with the flattering high-rise fit. Athleta also offers regular and tall inseams, so you can get a more customized fit for your height.

Pros: Great for hot, sweaty workouts; flattering high rise; soft but supportive fabric
Cons: Some transparency

FP Movement Never Better 7/8-Length Leggings

Original video from Jenifer Calle testing Free People Never Better 7/8 Length Legging

Some leggings squeeze my gut too much, and you definitely don’t want that when you’re doing lunges or entering downward-facing dog. That’s why these FP Movement leggings are great for, well, movement. Plus, they’re some of the softest pairs of leggings I own. In addition to yoga classes, I recommend these leggings for nature walks, low-impact workouts like barre, and long-distance walks. The 7/8 length and the 24.5-inch inseam make these the perfect height for petite women. Plus, the unique colors are great for standing out at the gym or mixing into your capsule wardrobe; throw on an oversized hoodie or a denim jacket for an easy off-duty outfit.

Maria Soccor Hosts ‘Reel Women’ Spotlighting Female Filmmakers at Venice Film Festival – Hollywood Life

written by jummy84

The Venice Film Festival spotlighted women in cinema with Reel Women, a late-night celebration hosted by filmmaker, actress, and producer Maria Soccor at the Campari Lounge. Beginning at 10 p.m., the private event drew a mix of filmmakers, producers, actors, and industry executives in support of female-driven storytelling during one of the year’s most influential gatherings.

Soccor, known for her award-winning films and advocacy for underrepresented voices, has built her reputation as a festival presence, often moderating panels and mentoring emerging talent. With Reel Women, she expanded her mission in Venice, fostering dialogue and recognition for women shaping the film landscape.

Maria Soccor

The guest list reflected the festival’s global reach. Jared Harris attended with his wife Allegra as his new film House of Dynamite premiered at Venice to early acclaim. Other notable attendees included producer Debra Gainor of Producers Without Borders, actress Agathe Levi, producer Vicktoria Silmara Turmina of Mindgate Motion Pictures, Jojo Dye of The Members Club and Producers Without Borders, publicist Jane Owen of Jane Owen Public Relations, Ann Hafström of the Creative Lifestyle Agency, actress Tora Kim, and models Gillian Nation and Tia Goossen.

Maria Soccor

As the oldest international film festival, founded in 1932, Venice has remained a launchpad for cinema’s most significant works, ranking alongside Cannes and Berlin as one of Europe’s premier showcases. This year’s addition of Reel Women emphasized the importance of elevating female creators both in front of and behind the camera.

The evening was presented by Campari in partnership with Maria Soccor Productions Inc. and Jane Owen Public Relations. Guests enjoyed signature Campari cocktails, appetizers, and refreshments throughout the night. “Venice has long been a platform for extraordinary storytelling, and REEL WOMEN was a chance to gather in recognition of the incredible female talent shaping the industry today,” said Soccor.

Maria Soccor

By invitation only, the gathering underscored Campari and its partners’ commitment to inclusivity, creativity, and future voices in film. The Campari Lounge buzzed late into the night with the energy of collaboration and conversation that defines Venice’s most exciting week.

Julie Adam Is Billboard Canada Women in Music’s 2025 Exec of the Year

by jummy84 September 27, 2025
written by jummy84

Julie Adam is having a milestone year — and it’s getting even bigger.

The president & CEO of Universal Music Canada is this year’s Billboard Canada Executive of the Year. She will accept the award at Billboard Canada Women in Music on Oct. 1 at Rebel in Toronto.

Related

Adam was promoted to the head role at the beginning of this year and is now the only woman heading a major label in Canada.

Adam’s rise comes after decades of breaking barriers. She started in radio, becoming Canada’s first female Vice President of Radio Programming, and spent more than 20 years at Rogers Sports & Media before moving to Universal in 2023 as EVP & GM. It wasn’t long before she stepped into the top role, taking charge of Canada’s largest record company during a moment of change.

UMC is the market share leader amongst labels in Canada (the label has 7 of the top 10 albums year to date), with both domestic success for international artists and rising stardom for homegrown artists.

The past year has seen chart breakthroughs for artists like Josh Ross (who was among the most nominated artists at the Junos and CCMAs) and Toronto pop artist Sofia Camara, who hit the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 for the first time this week. Other artists, like Mae Martin and Owen Riegling, continue to make a big mark.

It’s no surprise Adam was named to the Billboard Canada Power Players list this year and to Billboard’s Global Power Players.

What makes Adam stand out — and what this award underlines — is not just the business, but the way she leads. Her book Imperfectly Kind doubles as her philosophy: that empathy and generosity can fuel success. Colleagues and artists alike point to her ability to create space for others to thrive, a rare quality in an industry often driven by competition.

Canadian Music Industry Weighs in on How to Support Canadian Audio Content at CRTC Public Hearings

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC)’s “Supporting Canadian and Indigenous audio content” hearings are underway.

The CRTC proceedings are centred around the Online Streaming Act, a legislation that updates Canada’s Broadcasting Act for the new digital media landscape. It’s a once-in-a-generation update to CanCon regulations, and many stakeholders have been weighing in about how it should be implemented.

An important aspect to these hearings is last year’s CRTC decision to enforce major foreign-owned streaming services with Canadian revenues over $25 million to pay 5% of those revenues into Canadian content funds, like FACTOR and Musicaction. It’s been a major hot button issue, with pushback from the big major streaming services like Spotify and Amazon. After appealing the base contributions, the courts paused payments until an appeal.

That has been a big topic of conversation in arguments over a series of five days of hearings in Gatineau, Quebec, from September 18 to September 29.

The country’s federal government is under heavy pressure from the United States to forego the base contributions in the legislation, with 18 members of Congress signing a letter, claiming the act “imposes discriminatory obligations and threatens additional obligations imminently is a major threat to our cross-border digital trade relationship.”

CRTC regulations state that at least 35% of popular music picks on commercial radio stations must be Canadian content — but this standard doesn’t currently extend to music streaming services.

The goal of the hearings is to discuss how CanCon regulations can be adjusted in support of the changes taking place in the music industry and the Canadian broadcasting system, including the rise of streaming services, the decline of radio broadcasting alongside increasing support for Indigenous music and diverse Canadian artists.

In its notice of consultation on the hearing that began last week, the CRTC said streamers should “contribute to the discoverability of Canadian, French-language and Indigenous music either through financial contributions or through initiatives targeting the promotion and exposure of these songs to their users.”

Kneecap Say They Haven’t Received Any Formal Notice After Ban From Canada

Kneecap have yet to receive official confirmation of its ban in Canada.

Last Friday (September 19), the Irish hip hop trio was ruled ineligible to enter the country by Liberal MP and Parliamentary Secretary for Combating Crime Vince Gasparro in a video posted to X.

While the ban forces the group to forfeit scheduled concerts in Toronto and Vancouver next month, Kneecap’s manager, Dan Lambert, said that the band hasn’t gotten any communication from the federal government.

“Nobody has instructed Kneecap that they can’t travel to Canada except Vince and his social media video,” Lambert tells CBC News.

During Gasparro’s video, he claimed the trio “have amplified political violence and publicly displayed support for terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah and Hamas,” and said he was making the announcement “on behalf of the Government of Canada.”

The ruling blocks Kneecap’s planned shows at Toronto’s History on October 14 and 15, as well as concerts at Vancouver’s Vogue Theatre on October 22 and 23.

Soon after the news broke out, Kneecap rejected the claims in an Instagram statement addressed directly to Gasparro, calling his remarks “wholly untrue and deeply malicious.”

The trio added that they’ve instructed their lawyer to initiate legal action against Gasparro. “We will be relentless in defending ourselves against baseless accusations to silence our opposition to a genocide being committed by Israel,” they said.

Kneecap vowed that if they win in court, they will donate all damages to “some of the thousands of child amputees in Gaza.”

“We’re pretty shocked that this could happen in Canada,” Lambert said to CBC News, adding the band has played in Canada multiple times. He noted that the only country where the group has been banned is Hungary.

Lambert said the case is due in court on Friday, and he fully expects the band to win.

2. Eat a GLP-1 boosting breakfast

Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day, making it crucial to eat foods that help with satiety, suppress appetite, and regulate blood sugar, to avoid crashes later in the day.

He suggested, “This can look like eggs, avocados and berries in the morning. This keeps you full longer and then supports the hormones that regulate your appetite and your blood sugar.”

3. Avoid high insulin foods

Deciding what to eat for breakfast is vital as it sets the mood and energy for the day. The weight loss coach cautioned against foods that may spike insulin, such as the classic breakfast staples, such as cereals, toast, and sugary lattes.

4. Don’t drink coffee immediately

The idea of bed tea or bed coffee may seem tempting, a cosy way to sip and begin the day in bed, but the weight loss coach instead emphasised delaying the coffee in the morning.

Rather, according to him, the correct order should be, “I need you to have water first, then your protein and then have your coffee. This balances your cortisol levels so we don’t have stress spikes right away.”

5. Walk for a while

Morning routine may seem hectic, grabbing some coffee and commuting to work and then sitting down to remain immobile and inactive in a chair for long hours. Akanni instead urged to walk for a minimum of 10 minutes to get some sunlight. As per him, it benefits the internal body’s clock. He said, “This boosts your mood, increases your metabolism and helps regulate your circadian rhythm, which is what is going to help you sleep better at night.” So how you begin your day impacts how you end it!
