Tom Bergeron Recalls Bruce Willis Meeting When Rumer Was on Show

What To Know

  • Rumer Willis returned to Dancing With the Stars to perform in the 20th Birthday Party dance relay with Dylan Efron.
  • Tom Bergeron was also back on the show as a guest judge.
  • The former host sent warm wishes to Rumer and her family amid Bruce Willis’ frontotemporal dementia diagnosis.

The Tuesday, November 11, episode of Dancing With the Stars featured appearances from tons of show alum, including former host Tom Bergeron as a guest judge. Former Mirrorball Trophy winner Rumer Willis was also back in the ballroom, taking part in the dance relay with Season 34 contestant Dylan Efron.

After Rumer and Dylan danced a Viennese waltz in the relay, Tom gave them a glowing review, and mentioned Rumer’s dad, Bruce Willis, before making his commentary.

“One of the highlights your season was meeting your dad,” Tom said. “And I just want to send my warm wishes to you, your dad, and your family.” Bruce’s family announced his frontotemporal dementia diagnosis in February 2023. They have privately been dealing with his health decline in the time since.

Rumer was paired with Valentin Chmerkovskiy on Season 20 of Dancing With the Stars in 2015. Even though it’s been 10 years since she was on the DWTS ballroom floor, Rumer didn’t miss a beat. She and Dylan ended up winning their dance relay against Andy Richter and Kaitlyn Bristowe.

It was a huge night for Dylan, as he received two bonus points from the dance relay that he was able to add to his perfect score from earlier in the night for a total of 42 out of 42 points, tying him for the top of the leaderboard. Carrie Ann Inaba called it a “breakthrough” week for the “most improved” dancer of the season.

On her season of DWTS, Rumer beat out Riker Lynch and Noah Galloway in the Finals to win the show. She earned three perfect scores for her finale dances.

Meanwhile, this was Tom’s first time back in the ballroom since he was fired from Dancing With the Stars ahead of Season 29 in 2020. The house was packed as DWTS celebrated its 20th birthday with an epic anniversary celebration.

Emma Heming Willis reveals her children’s lives have been turned ‘upside down’ by Bruce Willis’ dementia fight

Emma Heming Willis says her children’s lives have been turned “upside down” by the impact of Bruce Willis’ dementia fight.

Emma Heming Willis says her children’s lives have been turned ‘upside down’ by the impact of Bruce Willis’ dementia fight

The model and influencer, 47, has been acting as a carer for her ailing Die Hard actor husband, 70, since he was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, and has now used her new book to describe how the condition is changing daily life for their young daughters, Mabel and Evelyn.

Emma said in her new book The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope, and Yourself on the Caregiving Path: “The truth is, Mabel and Evelyn’s daily lives were being turned upside down. For example, with FTD and other forms of dementia, some people become more sensitive to noise, which can cause distraction, confusion, and agitation.

“So I had everyone tiptoeing around the house to keep it as peaceful and serene as possible. This meant playdates were obsolete and forget about sleepovers.”

Emma has also used her book to reflect on the “loud and crazy and fun” times Bruce has enjoyed with Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11.

Father-of-five Bruce is also father to Rumer, 37, Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 31, who he had during his marriage with actress Demi Moore, 62.

Emma wrote about how she recently decided to move Bruce into a separate home with a professional care team, saying their household had become one where “no one was thriving” amid his health fight.

She said the new arrangement allowed the family to “find a better balance and fit” for everyone.

Speaking to Good Morning America on 9 September, Emma defended the decision after receiving social media criticism.

She said: “It’s really not up for a debate. Now I know that Bruce has the best care 100 percent of the time. “His needs are met 100 percent of the time, as well as our two young daughters’. So I’m not gonna take a vote on that.”

Emma added she expected criticism but insisted it was “the safest and best decision — not just for Bruce, but also for our two young girls”.

Emma’s book The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope, and Yourself on the Caregiving Path is out now.

written by jummy84

The Association of Event Organisers (AEO) is pleased to announce the appointment of Alison Willis, chief executive officer of Easyfairs, as its new chair. The decision was made at the recent AEO Board meeting, with Andrew Williams, executive vice president at Informa, named vice chair. Rachel Swann, chief operating officer of the energy division at dmg events and outgoing chair, will take on the role of past chair until September 2026.

The AEO also extends its sincere thanks to Matthew Butler, group managing director of CloserStill Media, who stands down from the Executive Committee as outgoing past chair. His ongoing support and dedication to the AEO over the years has been invaluable and greatly appreciated.

Willis’s priority for the coming year will be to continue building on the AEO’s momentum around member engagement, with a particular focus on delivering a refreshed value proposition that truly reflects what members want and need. She will work closely with the Board and the wider membership to ensure that AEO’s offering stays relevant, impactful, and future-focused.

Willis said:
“I’m truly honoured to take on the role of AEO chair at such an exciting time for our sector. There’s so much energy and ambition among our members, and my priority is to harness that – working together to make the AEO experience even more rewarding, relevant, and inspiring. Over the coming year, I’ll be connecting directly with members to co-create a value proposition that supports their ambitions and reflects the best of our industry. Together with Andrew, Rachel, Anna, and the Board, I can’t wait to build on our successes and help shape a bright future for event organisers across the UK.”

Swann said:
“It’s been a privilege to serve as AEO chair and work alongside so many dedicated colleagues. I’m proud of the progress we’ve made – especially around member engagement and advocacy. As I pass the baton, I’m confident that Alison’s passion and focus will keep the AEO moving forward, and I look forward to supporting her and Andrew in this new chapter.”

Anna Golden, chief executive of AEO, added:
“Rachel has steered the AEO through a period of real change, and her commitment has set a high bar. As we welcome Alison and Andrew into their new roles, my focus will be on deepening our member relationships and delivering on the promise of a refreshed value proposition – one that’s shaped by what our community truly wants and needs.”

Board rotation and new appointments
As part of its regular Board rotation, the AEO thanks the following outgoing Board members for their service and contribution:

  • Carina Bauer – chief executive officer, IMEX Group
  • Ruth Carter – chief executive officer, CIBSE
  • Sophie Walker – chief operating officer, Immediate Live

Golden expressed her thanks, saying:
“A huge thank you to Carina, Kerry, Alison, and Sophie for their invaluable contributions to the AEO. Their commitment and insight have played a key role in the association’s continued growth.”

The new Board members joining AEO are:

  • Simon Albert – managing director, Messe Frankfurt UK
  • Emma Barrett – managing director, Broadway Events
  • Tim Willoughby – managing director, Mark Allen Group

The new Board members were formally appointed at the AGM in Manchester on 3rd September 2025  and will help steer the future direction of the association.

The refreshed Board is set to play a central role in guiding the AEO and ensuring it continues to meet the evolving needs of its members and the wider events industry.

Emma Heming Willis can’t wait to go on tour to promote her book about caregiving

Emma Heming Willis can’t wait to go on tour to promote her book about caregiving.

Emma Heming Willis can’t wait to go on tour to promote her book about caregiving

The model, 47, had been looking after her ailing husband Bruce Willis, 70, since he was diagnosed with dementia in 2023 and this week announced he had been moved to a separate home to receive professional help.

She has since been trolled for allowing the move while promoting herself as a caregiver.

But she has hit back at critics on Instagram, with her page revealing she can’t wait to go on her book tour to promote her upcoming book The Unexpected Road.

The book will tell of her path to becoming Bruce’s caregiver and she will give her first talk to promote the book on 8 September.

Emma wrote in what is her latest Instagram post: “One month out from taking The Unexpected Journey on the road, and I’m so excited to share with you the dates and places I’ll be.

“What I’m most looking forward to is being in a room with other caregivers. “That was one of the many reasons I wrote this book, to build deeper connection with those walking this path alongside me and my family.

“I hope to see you there and I can’t wait to connect in person. (Blue heart emoji.)

“Tour stops and details are in my bio or at emmahemingwillis.com under the “book” section. (Book emoji.) #theunexpectedjourney #caregiversupport #booktour.”

Emma hit back at trolls by saying she is being “judged quickly and unfairly” for the way she has been caring for Bruce.

She recently said it was the “hardest decision” to have him moved to a separate home where he now lives with a full-time care team.

Emma is bringing up their daughters Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11, and said on Instagram: “Bruce would want that for our daughters. He would want them to be in a home that was more tailored to their needs, not his needs.”

She added: “Too often, caregivers are judged quickly and unfairly by those who haven’t lived this journey or stood on the front lines of it.

“Sharing openly may invite opinions, but more importantly, it creates connection and validation for those actually navigating the realities of caregiving every day.”

Her book on caregiving is coming out on 9 September, and she says in a synopsis of the tome: “Caring for yourself while caring for someone else is one of the hardest, most heartbreaking challenges you’ll ever face. It’s easy to lose your sense of self.

“Through my own experience and insights from leading experts, I want to help care partners feel less alone, better prepared, and empowered to navigate this journey with strength and support. When you care for yourself first, you’re better able to care for your person.

“This isn’t just about surviving – it’s about finding connection, resilience, and even moments of joy along the way. You don’t have to do this alone.”
