bitchy | Prince William visited the Christ the Redeemer statue & did his Earthshot ceremony

Yesterday was supposed to be Prince William’s big day. During the day, he did a photocall at the Christ the Redeemer statue, homage-ing his mother’s similar photo-op, and then in the evening, William had his Earthshot Prize ceremony. Guess who else was out and about yesterday? King Charles, the Duchess of Edinburgh, Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex. All four got more attention from the British press in that 24-hour period. You know that bald demon was raging behind the scenes.

Anyway, I’m including some photos from William’s activities on Wednesday. Weirdly, it felt like they didn’t really do a “red carpet” at the actual Earthshot ceremony. I’m judging all of this solely by the photos, but the ceremonies always feel so sparsely attended and half-assed. There was some kind of “receiving line” for Scooter King, and he did spend a brief amount of time with the environmentalists he was supposedly highlighting. But yeah, most of the photos are William with Jason Knauf, and William chatting up celebrities like Shawn Mendes and Kylie Minogue. You know who didn’t show up? Gisele Bundchen.

They got Keir Starmer to attend this stupid bullsh-t too, although Starmer was probably in Brazil for the COP30 conference in Belem. Starmer and William will put their appearances in at COP30 and be back in England in time for the Remembrance events this weekend, I’m assuming. While I absolutely enjoy the “why did faux environmentalist William fly 5,000 miles to talk about climate change” commentary, keep in mind that many of these people were going to attend COP30 anyway. That’s why William is desperately trying to attach his half-assed vanity project to COP30. But yes, William is very wasteful. He uses royal helicopters the way most people use cars or taxis.

bitchy | Prince William looked unfortunate playing beach volleyball with Brazilian kids

Don’t get me wrong, I love volleyball and beach volleyball. Volleyball is my jam and it’s super-fun to play and to watch. I do not blame Prince William for putting a beach volleyball session on his Rio de Janeiro itinerary whatsoever. But this is exceptionally bad staff work – letting William play beach volleyball in jeans/trousers, and not shutting it down when William was flailing all over the beach and making those crazy faces as he tried to play the game with little kids. Yikes.

Anyway, these are photos from William’s first day in Rio, where he checked off a bunch of appearances and events in a steady clip. He received the keys to the city (Rio) from the mayor. He visited Sugarloaf Mountain. He did a meet-and-greet and took selfies with Brazilians. He went to a football pitch and kicked a ball. And yes, the volleyball photo-op.

The real story of William’s first day in Brazil is that his brother stole his thunder by announcing a trip to Toronto this week. Harry will be highly visible and doing events on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Also on Wednesday: William’s Earthshot Prize ceremony. Then later in the week – I don’t know if it’s on Thursday or Friday – William is supposed to make a “landmark” speech at COP30. While William is surely seething about the head-to-head competition, he should be thanking Harry. More people will pay attention to William’s Rio stuff because of the comparison with his brother. Plus, if those volleyball pics are a harbinger of things to come, William should find Harry’s Toronto visit invaluable as a distraction.

The Telegraph’s Victoria Ward was seething about Harry’s announced trip, as were other royal reporters and royalists. Ward pointed out something I had already assumed: while Harry gave his father/Buckingham Palace a heads up about his trip to Toronto, Harry doesn’t tell Kensington Palace jacksh-t. The question then becomes… why didn’t Buckingham Palace inform KP about Harry’s trip? Meanwhile, Tom Sykes devoted a whole Royalist Substack piece to Harry “dramatically reigniting his long-running war” with Huevo. Sykes also called it “needlessly antagonistic,” which is a fancy way of saying “hilarious.” Sykes actually made one good point though – it’s not like Harry has scheduled something at the same time as the family’s Remembrance Day events. All Harry is doing is some pre-Remembrance events, and he’ll presumably stay somewhat quiet on Remembrance Sunday.

bitchy | Jobson: Prince William asked to ‘cut back’ on work last year, Charles said ‘think again’

A consistent undercurrent of royal gossip in recent years is that King Charles thinks that Prince William is lazy, but not only that – William is undignified as well. Charles doesn’t care for William’s half-assed attempts to be relatable or talk about his feelings. Charles thinks it’s unbecoming for the heir to the throne to cosplay a football hooligan or a bloke down at the pub. And I can only imagine Charles’s reaction to these undignified photos of William playing beach volleyball in Rio de Janeiro. These are not the ideal images for a future (Scooter) king. Of course, that scooter wasn’t an ideal image either, but I digress. Royal biographer Robert Jobson has a new book called The Windsor Legacy. Jobson has been “aligned” more with Charles and Camilla’s side of things for many years, and so you should take many of the excerpts from this book as Charles and Camilla narrating certain things. Notably, “sources” told Jobson that William was desperate to cut back his schedule in 2024:

How Charles has changed after his cancer diagnosis: He’s changed some of the habits that once seemed set in stone – largely due to advice from Dr Michael Dixon, a seasoned NHS GP and advocate of complementary medicine who was appointed head of the Royal Medical Household after Queen Elizabeth’s death. William, too, has urged his father to slow down and listen to his medical team. So Charles now takes regular afternoon naps. And he’s started having lunch again – often spinach soup – after skipping the meal for most of his life.

Charles was in a lot of pain before his diagnosis: Before being diagnosed with cancer, he’d been typically stoical about his mounting levels of pain. Months before, his condition had worsened so dramatically, says a senior royal aide, that a doctor was summoned. The King was given morphine (one of the strongest painkillers available), fitted with a catheter and taken to Aberdeen Hospital. The cancer, however, was not discovered until a few months later, in January last year, while doctors were in the process of treating the King for an enlarged prostate. A few weeks down the line, it was announced that the Princess of Wales was also suffering from an unnamed cancer. Having two leading members of the Royal Family struck down at once seemed a malign twist of fate – and Prince William was shaken to the core.

William goes to church more, despite all evidence to the contrary: As the year progressed, both he and Catherine became more religious. Never known as a regular worshipper, William now attends church more frequently than in the past, though as privately as possible.

William asked to do fewer events: Last year, he also told his father that he wanted to cut his own official royal engagements back to ten for the rest of 2024. But the King refused his request. ‘Think again,’ he urged.

Kate’s “cancer-free” video last summer: In September 2024, in a polished video directed by Will Warr, Catherine revealed that she had completed chemotherapy and hoped to remain cancer-free. The footage showed the Wales family affectionately enjoying time together in Norfolk, on the beach and in the woods, and many found it moving. Queen Camilla’s reaction? She was deeply relieved, of course, at Catherine’s recovery. But according to a senior Household source, she also joked with friends – very much tongue-in-cheek – that the video was ‘like a shampoo commercial’.

Underlying tension: These days, William and his father generally work well together. The King happily consults him, and largely trusts him to do what is right. But there is often an underlying tension between them. It doesn’t help that both have a fiery temper that’s not always held in check. Working for Charles, some staff say, can be like ‘treading on eggshells’. As for William, Palace sources recall all too well an incident when the prince was over-assertive with his father – over a matter that William had completely misinterpreted. Even senior aides are known to tread lightly around the prince, mindful of his mood swings before attempting to raise sensitive issues. William may always appear to be composed in public, but insiders describe him as occasionally ‘difficult to handle’.

[From The Daily Mail]

I love sitting back and watching Charles get the heir he deserves. Charles’s failings as a father writ large have set the stage for all of this – William’s laziness and rage, Harry’s exile, and an institution which is mostly limping along, collapsing in on itself in slow motion. Not to blame everything on Charles though – William is horrible and that’s on him. He’s a man in his 40s who recently had some kind of breakdown because… his brother visited England and did some charity work. Anyway, it’s just funny to watch these two men try to out-petty one another.

bitchy | Prince William & Kate have officially moved into Forest Lodge already

by jummy84 November 2, 2025
written by jummy84

The greatest trick the royalist devil ever tried to pull was convincing anyone that the Princess of Wales has a say in what happens within the Windsor clan. Please. That’s pure Middleton PR. Not even Kensington Palace tries to convince people of that, and that’s technically Kate’s office. So it was funny to me that some unnamed source told People Magazine that Kate and Queen Camilla deserve credit for the banishment of Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. The source claimed that there was “a push from Camilla and Catherine” and a woman’s touch on the king’s statement. BS. What’s also funny is that now Andrew will be living close to William and Kate’s favorite of their ten forever homes: Anmer Hall, on the Sandringham estate. W&K go to Norfolk constantly. William enjoys larping as a Turnip Toff and Kate just prefers being in Norfolk, in general. Well, now Uncle Andy will be able to stop by Anmer at any time, right? What’s also pretty funny is that Will and Kate are officially moved-in to Forest Lodge, which means they’ll spend their first two months at their latest forever home just down the road for Andrew and Sarah too.

The Prince and Princess of Wales have moved into their new “forever” home, making them temporarily closer neighbours with the disgraced Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. The Telegraph can reveal the couple and their three children relocated from Adelaide Cottage over half term and are now settling into their new abode, Forest Lodge, where they plan to remain after William becomes King.

For a short time, they will be close neighbours of the former Duke of York, whose Royal Lodge mansion is just a two-mile hop across Windsor Great Park. Prince William did not attend the meetings last week as Buckingham Palace finally moved to strip his uncle of his titles and force him out of his grand home on the Crown Estate. But his closest aides were kept abreast of developments and William “fully supported” the King’s decision.

The heir to the throne had long made clear that he felt a harder line should be taken on Andrew and that he did not want the debacle dragging over into his own reign. The Waleses were also said to be concerned about the Windsor estate being tainted by association with the former prince. Having decided to make Forest Lodge their long-term family home, it suits the couple to be geographically distanced from Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, who will move out in January.

The red-bricked Georgian mansion, once described as a “very substantial house in one of the loveliest settings in the country”, is a notable step up from their former home, the more modest, four-bedroomed Adelaide Cottage. It boasts eight bedrooms and six bathrooms, a long gallery, a separate staff flat, a tennis court and a large pond. The house is protected by a ha-ha, a sunken fence commonly installed in landscaped gardens in the 18th century to give the illusion of an unbroken view while providing boundaries for grazing livestock.

The move was announced in August and the Prince and Princess initially planned to relocate by Christmas. But building work was completed earlier than expected and the family’s belongings were gradually transferred to the newly renovated property, which is protected by a large security cordon.

[From The Telegraph]

First of all, it sounds like William and Kate were not actually in Windsor to oversee the move into Forest Lodge. Please, they have people for that! Secondly, “Prince William did not attend the meetings last week…but his closest aides were kept abreast of developments and William ‘fully supported’ the King’s decision.” Even more evidence that the Middleton-Waleses were on vacation for the past two weeks, Huevo was too lazy to attend the meetings about banishing Andrew. I thought William was “ruthless”? I thought he was rage-shrieking about his uncle 24-7? And he didn’t give a sh-t enough to go to the meetings? Last thing… so, why isn’t Kate going to Rio for Earthshot again? We were told she couldn’t go because she had to organize the move into Forest Lodge. Well, the move happened. So what’s her excuse now? Let me guess, she has to organize her new Wiglet Room as she stares wistfully out on the 150 acres she stole from a public park.

bitchy | Royalist: “King in all but name’ Prince William ‘masterminded Andrew’s disgrace’

Who is responsible for the “Andrew Mountbatten Windsor” situation? By that I mean, who negotiated the deal, who said enough is enough, who finally acted, weeks and months late, to banish Andrew? The terseness of the message from King Charles yesterday suggested, to me, that Charles had actually been locked in negotiation alongside various courtiers. The timing also suggests that Charles was ultimately the one making decisions – the past month of dithering, half-measures and ostriching was classic Charles. The palace line is that Charles made the decision in consultation with his family, and he sought their support on the move as well:

So what was the final nail in the coffin for King Charles? PEOPLE understands that the King reached his decision with the support of members of the royal family, including Prince William. While Andrew continues to deny the accusations against him, it is clear that there have been serious lapses of judgment from the King’s perspective.

As for why the King didn’t act sooner, PEOPLE understands that Charles acted swiftly following recent developments that made it possible for his brother to relinquish his titles and honors in the most immediate and efficient way possible. While a longer-term resolution to the complex legal and constitutional issues surrounding Andrew’s status took time to finalize, sources say the necessity of further action was never in doubt. The King’s decision follows behind-the-scenes discussions, legal consultation and support from the wider royal family to bring about a resolution without imposing on Parliamentary time.

[From People]

Yeah… this is not it. “We knew the whole time that we would need to punish Andrew even further!!” No you didn’t. Charles thought taking away the York titles would be it, and he seemed surprised that the public demanded even more. He misread the public mood for weeks, and he’s still misreading it now. But still, I feel just a little bit sorry for Charles at the moment. His unhinged heir is rushing to claim credit for Charles’s wheeling and dealing on Andrew. Keep in mind, William has been in the wind, on vacation somewhere for the past two weeks. But sure, this was ALL William. From Tom Sykes’s Royalist Substack, “William is King in All But Name After Masterminding Andrew’s Disgrace.”

Friends of Prince William have told The Royalist that the heir to the throne masterminded the operation to evict Andrew Mountbatten Windsor from Royal Lodge in the teeth of what he saw as his father’s weakness and vacillation on the matter. The palace statement and a supporting briefing document issued to the media yesterday sought to position Charles as the author of the decision to strip Andrew of all his titles and remove him from the palatial property. However, sources who know William scoffed at the suggestion.

One said, “Charles has been trying and failing to get Andrew out of Royal Lodge for the past three years. William did it in two weeks. William is King in all but name now.”

A friend of the Prince of Wales said that William stepped in after being left “dismayed” by the deal announced two weeks ago, which saw Andrew lose the use of his Duke of York title, but, crucially, keep Royal Lodge and continue as a Prince. The King’s team has now attempted to retroactively present that as an interim step, with yesterday’s briefing document stating that “the necessity of further action was never in doubt.”

However, it is quite clear that the King hoped at the time that the measures announced on October 17 would be enough. Briefing documents issued then made it crystal clear that Andrew’s tenancy agreement with the Crown Estate was “unaffected” and that he would stay a Prince, not very subtly seeming to blame Queen Elizabeth for this latter reality, saying his princely title was his by virtue of Letters Patent issued in 1917 by George V which were “updated” by Queen Elizabeth II in 2012. This apportioning of blame was later made explicit in a disgraceful smear in the Sunday Times. This followed extensive briefing to the media by the King’s team that there was no way to remove Andrew’s titles.

The friend of William’s told The Royalist: “This is Andrew, so the solution was always going to be a pay-off. This is his father’s mess, and William wanted it cleaned up on his father’s watch.”

The notion that it is his “father’s mess” refers to deep unhappiness within William’s circle about the way Charles tried not only to rehabilitate Andrew, but to co-opt William and Kate into the effort by forcing them to drive Andrew to church in Balmoral in the summer of 2023, having invited Andrew to join the family’s Christmas Day photocall at Sandringham in 2022.

[From The Royalist Substack]

Multiple things can be true at once: one, William was right that the only solution was money; two, William is right that the York title removal was always a half-assed punishment with no meaning… and yet William still rushed to take credit for that as well! Which makes me think that this is less about William “being king in all but name” right now and more about him screaming and throwing hissy fits behind the scenes, and that’s his version of “doing it in two weeks.” William has always believed that he can just make pronouncements and things will be done – “I’m bored with racism,” etc – so William is claiming ownership of this situation simply because he rage-shrieked (from his vacation) to his father: “Andrew must go, strip all of his titles!”

bitchy | Mail: Prince William has cleared the way to remove the Sussexes’ titles

From where I sit, there was a tipping point on the Prince Andrew/Mountbatten Windsor situation this month which was years in the making. The Windsors misread the public mood, King Charles dithered and Prince William raged from his tenth vacation of the year. The tipping point on Andrew involved a decades-long cover-up, years of lies and abuse, and one of Andrew’s victims speaking from beyond the grave. The situation is simply not comparable to anything involving the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who were bullied and abused by the institution and press, so much so that they simply… left the country almost six full years ago. If Prince Harry’s September trip to the UK was any indication, the British public still loves him and supports him. Andrew, meanwhile, was heckled and called a “nonce” at his mother’s 2022 funeral. My point? It’s bizarre to see so many Sussex supporters and haters alike use the Andrew situation to talk about Harry and Meghan. The Daily Mail’s Maurren Callahan basically had a psychotic episode about the Sussexes in her column published after the Andrew Mountbatten Windsor announcement.

It is now a question of when. Not if. The bombshell announcement out of Buckingham Palace that Andrew has been stripped of his status as a prince immediately, that he will henceforth be known as ‘Mr. Mountbatten Windsor’, and that he has been forced to surrender the lease to Royal Lodge leaves no doubt in my mind: Harry and Meghan are next. The sun begins to set over Montecito — permanently.

And Prince William, as we posited earlier this week, emerges as the apparent force behind these most welcome reforms — despite the official statement having come from the King. This is William’s monarchy now. In that light, Andrew feels more like a pawn removed by William to clear the way for his real target: Harry.

If the late Queen’s favorite son can be coldly ejected and stripped of his birthright — if William can have convinced the infamously conflict-averse Charles to renounce his own brother — well, Harry’s days as prince and Duke of Sussex are surely numbered. As for Meghan? Like Fergie, she would just be collateral damage. An afterthought. Flotsam in search of a shore – perhaps QVC’s Pennsylvania headquarters and where she might shill As Ever overstock on deep discount.

To know that Meghan and Harry may now be consigned to the dustbin of Royal history, perseverating over the remains of the day from the cheap seats, is perhaps the most tantalizing and satisfying finale of the modern age. Sayonara, Sussexes!

Kate, though silent, is doubtless among William’s prime motives in dispatching first with his uncle, and perhaps next his brother. It was Harry who reprinted Kate’s private text messages with Meghan in Spare. It was Harry and Meghan’s cheerleader, their glorified biographer Omid Scobie, who named Kate and Charles as the so-called ‘royal racists.’ If William is just getting started, he surely knows the world is cheering him on, that any further attacks from his brother and sister-in-law, those epic dramatists, would be laughed off and dismissed.

A former royal aide at Kensington Palace, William and Kate’s London residence, told the Daily Mail that ‘now that they’re picking away at the edges [of the family]’ — that would be Andrew — ‘a bigger unravelling is coming.’

That bigger unravelling is, to my mind, Harry and Meghan’s royal titles, status and honors.

‘The role William has — to try to forge something sustainable — is now in stark relief. And no, Charles isn’t up to that job,’ the former aide continued. ‘Once Andrew stops being the convenient cover, then where will people look next?’

[From The Daily Mail]

So… those quotes from a former royal aide are… not about Harry and Meghan, right? “A bigger unravelling is coming” – for the monarchy itself, because this Andrew situation was and is a larger reflection of the monarchy’s corruption and abuses. “Once Andrew stops being the convenient cover, then where will people look next?” Literally, they’ll look to the remaining royals, none of whom are ready for primetime. They’ll look at a dying king, his unhinged, illiterate, workshy heir, and a collection of senior citizens who stagger through their busywork. If and when William “takes away Harry and Meghan’s titles,” it won’t actually mean a thing to Harry and Meghan. They live in California. They own a beautiful mansion. They are free from all of this bullsh-t. Let me say this as well: once the Sussexes stop being the convenient cover, then where will people look next?

Prince William and Princess Kate call for ‘better, more sustainable world’

Prince William and Princess Kate have called for a “better, more sustainable world” in a new social media post.

Prince William and Princess Kate have called for a ‘better, more sustainable world’ in a new social media post

Just after King Charles formally began the process of stripping Prince Andrew of his titles and honours, the couple, both 43, shared the message on their Kensington Royal X account as part of ongoing promotion for the Earthshot Prize, William’s environmental initiative recognising global projects tackling climate change.

The post included a two-minute video highlighting finalists from Barbados, Bangladesh and the United States, describing how each is helping communities adapt to environmental challenges.

William and Kate wrote: “We envision a world that’s a better, more sustainable home for everyone. A world where greenhouse gas emissions are falling, and carbon-neutral economies help protect the most vulnerable. A world like this is within reach.”

It was the fifth consecutive day the Prince and Princess of Wales had posted Earthshot content, following videos released throughout the past week.

William, unveiling the Earthshot shortlist earlier this month, reflected on the urgency of the prize’s mission.

He said: “Back then, a decade felt a long time. George was seven, Charlotte five and Louis two; the thought of them in 2030 felt a lifetime away. But today, as we stand halfway through this critical decade, 2030 feels very real.”

Five winners will each receive £1 million when the Earthshot Prize is awarded on 5 November at the Museum of Tomorrow in Rio de Janeiro, ahead of the COP30 UN climate summit.

The latest Earthshot message appeared less than a day after Buckingham Palace confirmed King Charles, 76, had ordered the removal of Andrew’s HRH style, titles and honours.

In a statement, the Palace said: “Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him.”

It added: “Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”

Andrew, 65, is expected to vacate Royal Lodge and live privately under the King’s care at Sandringham Estate.

Royal sources told The Daily Mail that he could receive around £500,000 as part of the early termination of his lease agreement.

Meanwhile, Republic, the anti-monarchy campaign group, said it had instructed lawyers to explore a private prosecution against Andrew over allegations relating to his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein.

William Prince Moves ‘Further From the Country’ » PopMatters

written by jummy84

Folk-rocker William Prince has never been more on the move and never sounded more at home. After albums exploring faith and gratitude, he takes a look at change and distance on Further From the Country. While not a concept album, the record offers a steady look at some big questions about where we come from and where we’re headed, the mix of happy ties and itchy restraints that maintain our connections to places, even if sometimes only emotionally. Prince’s mix of character studies and thoughtful meditations combines for an album with staying power.

The core of the record appears on its titular opening track. Above a driving beat and a sharp fiddle, Prince sings of his move to the big city, indicative of his success as a storytelling artist. The transition isn’t uncomplicated. He asks, “And if I go, is the home that raised me no longer my own? / And if I stay, would I leave here anyway?” He knows the value of leaving on, but also the cost of leaving something behind. It’s a price worth paying, though, as he acknowledges in “Damn” that “Things won’t change until I finally get the will to do something else with myself.” Prince feels the need to move to avoid getting stuck.

The sedentary pitfall comes through clearly on the melancholy country number “All the Same”, in which life drones by on the reservation; the same friends, the same squabbles, the same suicidal exits. Prince captures the unacknowledged desperation when he sings of a friendly woman who was “saving all her money for a holiday that would never come”. That sort of sharp detail fills Further From the Country. Prince gives his characters complexity with just a few lines.

On the pure Nashville “Flowers on the Dash”, he captures the entirety of the relationship in the chorus, a man’s trip to win back a lover turned to nothing but a rejected bouquet for the drive home. Southern rocker “On Rolls the Wheel” develops the sadness of a truck driver, while “For the First Time” sums up blue-collar struggle in a quick couplet: “Feels like God don’t give a damn / When you’re waking up at 4 a.m.”

With all this motion and worry about getting stuck, William Prince could easily, like his fictional truck driver, get lost on the road. Instead, he pauses to find his moments of growth and places of stability. “For the First Time” looks at the process of moving through and beyond grief’s immediacy. Prince especially considers the loss of his father (an integral figure throughout these songs), whom he addresses explicitly on “The Charmer.” On this track, he takes the shine off and tries to give an honest portrait of a complex man. Prince sees him clearly, and honors him appropriately: “Now every chorus, every verse / The charmer rides again.”

By the time Further From the Country reaches “The Charmer”, Prince’s musical tradition becomes a little clearer. He’s always drawn on folk, country, and rock. On one hand, it makes sense to find him as an offshoot of outlaw country. He might be a more natural successor to John Prine, with his particular sense of character and choice of people to study. It doesn’t hurt that “The Charmer’s” melody would sit perfectly on Prine’s The Missing Years. Prince uses his varied influence to paint careful pictures of regular life, while thinking deeply about what it means and how he’s made a life.

That life, throughout much of Further From the Country, has a sense of restlessness, but William Prince draws a critical point in the closer “More of the Same”. Unlike in “All the Same,” the singer now finds repetition not damaging, but edifying. He’s found love, and he can work on lessening his anxiety and need to compare himself with others. “How could I complain / With more of the same?” he sings.

Through both his peregrinations and his examinations, Prince has reached important conclusions. He might not have all the answers, but he’s starting to see how leaving can be part of finding home. He might be rolling on, further from where he began, but it sounds like he’s always been moving toward the center.

bitchy | Did Prince William personally threaten to take away Eugenie & Beatrice’s titles?

by jummy84 October 30, 2025
written by jummy84

On Monday, British journalist Emily Maitlis spilled some interesting tea about an odd moment last week. Last Thursday, late in the day in the UK, there was a sudden buzz that some big news would be coming out of Windsor. Maitlis claimed that Buckingham Palace told various media outlets to station reporters and photographers somewhat close to Royal Lodge, and that they should expect some interesting “passing traffic.” Several royal reporters were camped out for hours, and the BBC apparently sent a helicopter. Then, the palace “chickened out,” according to Maitlis. They decided not to do whatever staged skit they had planned. Maitlis also revealed what she thought it was going to be: either a meeting between Prince William and the York princesses OR King Charles arriving at Royal Lodge to personally demand that Prince Andrew vacate the premises. From the Royalist Substack:

According to Emily Maitlis, palace officials even tipped off the media that King Charles would be photographed driving into Royal Lodge to read his brother the riot act last Thursday. Cameras trained their lenses on the gates.

But when a BBC chopper began hovering above Windsor Great Park, Buckingham Palace “chickened out,” suddenly calling off what would have been the most public act of royal discipline in years.

“There was a question,” Maitlis then said, “over whether there had been, earlier in the day, a meeting between Prince William and the princesses Beatrice and Eugenie saying: ‘You’ve got to get your dad to move out of Royal Lodge, otherwise we will start re-examining the state of your own titles.’”

It is a remark that is brutally, unmistakably William, given that the continued status of a whole raft of non-working royals as princes and princesses has long grieved William, who is planning a wholesale rewriting of the royal settlement when he accedes. William’s decision to threaten Beatrice and Eugenie is clearly tactical, but it will be seen as a personal betrayal by them, as he used to be close to them.

[From The Royalist Substack]

Yeah, at no point did Maitlis say that she definitively knows that William was in the area or that he would be part of this stunt. Personally, given the facts at hand, this whole incident strikes me as more of a “classic Charles” bungling. Charles and his courtiers have f–ked up the York situation from start to finish, and these days, they’re even trying to shove the late QEII under the bus and blame everything on her.

As for the idea that William would personally go to Eugenie and Beatrice and threaten them with the removal of their titles… I don’t see it. He would send someone to do that, or he would demand that his father do it and then Scooter King would take credit for it. This whole story is also fascinating because I’m almost positive that William was nowhere near Windsor last week. His kids’ school break, remember? He was either in Norfolk or he was on vacation in some undisclosed location. Interestingly, as Maitlis’s quotes went viral throughout the day, “sources” piped up and told the Telegraph this: “Sources close to both the Prince and the Princesses deny the existence of any meeting. The Prince also does not have the power to remove their titles, or to ask Parliament to do so.” Again, Maitlis was just theorizing, and I suspect William was nowhere near Windsor last week.

All that being said, people are gunning for Eugenie and Beatrice’s titles, HRHs and everything else. That’s abundantly clear, but I believe that Buckingham Palace is the one trying to manipulate the parents through the daughters.

“The Palace got very nervous… they blamed a “media circus” – a circus entirely of their own making.”

Journalists were tipped there “may be passing traffic” outside Royal Lodge on Thursday night… but it didn’t materialise. 👀@maitlis | @jonsopel pic.twitter.com/En5NScmpS2

bitchy | The terms of Prince William & Kate’s Forest Lodge lease should be under scrutiny

by jummy84 October 27, 2025
written by jummy84

Two Fridays ago, Prince Andrew publicly relinquished his titles and honors, a relinquishment which had no real authority, power or legality. It was yet another half-measure, and one which “Scooter King” William eagerly demanded credit for. In the nine days following that, it’s been nothing but fiasco after fiasco for the monarchy and for Andrew. It’s been interesting to try to keep track on Scooter King’s place in the chaos – by some accounts, he’s calling up MPs and demanding more accountability from Andrew. By other accounts, William is out of sight, out of mind, on yet another vacation during his kids’ school holiday, and simply allowing his cancer-stricken father deal with the Andrew problem. I think the latter is probably closer to the truth, but William’s courtiers keep insisting that Scooter King is incredibly powerful and making major moves behind the scenes. From Richard Palmer’s “William’s plans to exile Andrew – and the house move that could undermine them.”

With Britain’s monarchy facing mounting scrutiny over its handling of Prince Andrew, one man is stepping into the frame. Behind the scenes, Prince William is reported to be unhappy with the action taken by his father so far, and he is determined to go much further when he becomes King.

Late on Friday, Andrew was in “advanced talks” with King Charles’ representatives about quitting his Royal Lodge home, The Telegraph reported, with Buckingham Palace determined to pressure the prince into voluntarily leaving. But William has been touted as the person who is putting pressure on his father to do more to finally solve the Andrew problem.

This worries some royal insiders. “What does it say about the King if it has to be his son who will solve the problem?” one said.

His uncle, pumped up with self-importance, fond of grandeur, but lacking in tact and diplomacy, is the antithesis of the sort of monarchy the heir to the throne wants. The Royal Family faces the risk of contagion on several fronts. Cabinet ministers are said to be critical of the Royal Household’s laboured response to a spate of revelations over Andrew and Fergie’s friendship with the convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

But Andrew’s lease with the Crown Estate, under which he has lived virtually rent-free in his 30-room Royal Lodge mansion for 22 years, has thrown the spotlight on the property deals other members of the family have struck, including the Prince and Princess of Wales.

There are dangers for William if he is found to have a similarly generous lease with the Crown Estate at Forest Lodge, an eight-bedroom Georgian house close to Royal Lodge in the Great Park that is about to become his family’s home. There are 360 properties on the Occupied Royal Palaces Estate, which has provided previous homes for the Wales family at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor and Kensington Palace.

Instead, they have chosen a location outside the royal estate’s security perimeter that will result in 150 acres of parkland being closed to the public, along with a car park for tourists, a gate for local residents, a road, and an environmental centre visited by schoolchildren to appreciate nature.

A five-year review of royal funding under the Sovereign Grant, which is benchmarked to Crown Estate profits, is due next year, putting the wider finances of the Royal Family under the microscope.

William, 43, has long believed that Andrew was a stain on the monarchy who should have stood down long before he did in 2019. He has been consulted at each stage of his uncle’s humiliation but, despite reports he will not be invited to a future coronation, sources close to the heir counsel not to believe everything that is said about what he will do when he becomes King.

With all signs pointing to a slimmed-down group of only five or six working royals compared to the 11 when he becomes King, some in royal circles are suggesting William plans to take the bull by the horns and end all royal titles for non-working members of the family. It would mean Andrew and his daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, would no longer be Prince or Princess and nor would William’s brother Harry or his children, Archie and Lilibet.

[From The i Newspaper]

“Sources close to the heir counsel not to believe everything that is said about what he will do when he becomes King…” About William’s coronation?? That is one of the easiest decisions to make, actually – William saying “Andrew will obviously not be invited to my coronation.” Andrew should also be banned from Charles’s funeral btw, not to be too macabre (except this is already being discussed as well in the public sphere). “What does it say about the King if it has to be his son who will solve the problem?” What does it say about Scooter King that he’s too stupid to ban his human trafficker uncle from his coronation?

But really, the part about the Forest Lodge move is fascinating. It makes it sound like this is less about Andrew and more about William protecting his own interests. 360 properties Will and Kate could have chosen from and they chose the manor house which wasn’t on the list? The one which needed extensive and costly security upgrades and a 150-acre land grab from a public park? Their choice of “forever home” will also close down a parking lot and a tourist gate to Windsor Great Park (which we knew already) AND “a road and an environmental centre visited by schoolchildren to appreciate nature.” We didn’t know that! Palmer also forgot to mention that the Waleses evicted a bunch of people from the cottages around Forest Lodge. Jeez. The Forest Lodge move is looking dumber and dumber by the day. Why on earth were William and Kate given permission to do all of this? And what kind of lease agreement do they have with the Crown Estates?
