Doctor Who’s Ncuti Gatwa joins Wicked star in animated musical

by jummy84 November 9, 2025
written by jummy84

Ncuti Gatwa’s post-Doctor Who career has just added another major project, with the acclaimed actor taking a voice role in a major new animated film co-starring Wicked icon Cynthia Erivo.

Bad Fairies is a fantastical adventure slated for release in summer 2027, which follows a group of “delightfully subversive” fairies as they “shake up their magical world” (via Deadline).

Erivo was confirmed to star in the animated musical last month, with Gatwa being the latest addition to what looks poised to be an A-list voice cast; details about his character have not yet been disclosed.

Bad Fairies is written by comedian Deborah Frances-White (The Guilty Feminist), with Megan Nicole Dong (Netflix’s Centuarworld) and Oliver Staphylas (Wish Dragon) sharing directing duties.

Tony Award-winning songwriters Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss (best known for King Henry VIII-themed Six: The Musical) are also aboard the project, alongside composer Isabella Summers (a founding member of indie band Florence + The Machine).

For Gatwa, it marks his first major screen booking since a widely publicised exit from Doctor Who, after which the actor returned to the stage for West End runs on The Importance of Being Earnest and Born with Teeth.

Most recently, he was seen alongside Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch in romcom The Roses, and coming up next he has The Queen of Fashion; a biopic about stylist Isabella Blow, starring Andrea Riseborough (Alice & Jack) in the lead role.

No doubt Bad Fairies will be hoping to draw in Wicked-sized numbers on the strength of Erivo’s musical prowess.

After numerous theatre gigs, including Sister Act and The Colour Purple, the British actor moved into film from 2018 with roles in Bad Times at the El Royale, Widows and Harriet, where she was Oscar-nominated for her portrayal of Harriet Tubman.

However, Erivo’s film career has reached new heights in the past year, following her debut as Elphaba Thropp in the blockbuster film adaptation of Wicked.

The first film made more than $750 million at the global box office, with similarly high expectations for the forthcoming sequel Wicked: For Good, which is set to conclude the Wizard of Oz-inspired story later this month.

Further casting and plot details for Bad Fairies will be announced in due course.

Bad Fairies is coming to cinemas in May 2027.

Tia and Tamera On Twitches & Who’s Hosting Thanksgiving

Tamera: I can speak for Hallmark. When I started at Hallmark — it’s been about seven years —  I remember not seeing women like me at all on that network, and I got to give it to Michelle Vicary, who is there now, she gave me my chance. She was like, “listen, we want you to tell your stories. I’m going to give you three films to produce.” And I was like, Oh my gosh, the pressure! But also, like Tia was saying, I felt very honored. I did a movie called Girlfriendship, an all-Black woman cast on Hallmark and literally, the producers came back and said, “we’ve had the most black audience we’ve ever had on Hallmark, thank you.” That felt beautiful and amazing. And I’m happy that I’m still there. I still get to tell all kinds of stories of what Black families look like. We’re biracial, I get to tell those stories. And to be honest, the response as the new person, the trailblazer going in there, telling these stories, it wasn’t always positive.

You Won’t Believe Who’s Joining Shah Rukh Khan’s Birthday Bash! | Glamsham.com

The birthday bash for Shah Rukh Khan’s diamond jubilee 60th birthday is getting underway in style, with global music sensation Enrique Iglesias being spotted accompanying the superstar for an intimate pre-birthday dinner at his legendary Mumbai abode, Mannat. The private bash, which is scheduled to take place before SRK’s special day on Sunday, November 2, is likely to be a celebrity-studded but close-knit party that is reserved for his closest friends, including Karan Johar, Rani Mukerji, and Aditya Chopra.

Enrique Iglesias, who recently concluded two consecutive sold-out shows at the MMRDA Grounds in Mumbai on October 29 and 30, will apparently miss out on all other social activities in the city for this exclusive party. The union between the Bollywood superstar and the Latin pop icon has already been termed “the crossover we didn’t know we needed” by fans.

To add to the buzz, there’s rampant speculation that SRK and Enrique could team up for a special song for Shah Rukh’s new film King. Speculation was fueled after a popular entertainment handle on X (formerly Twitter) suggested, “Something exciting seems to be brewing a high-energy track featuring Enrique for #SRK’s next biggie #King ?????

” The post sent social media into a frenzy, with fans imagining a fusion of Bollywood energy and Latin rhythm a “dream crossover” that could redefine global pop culture collaborations.

If the reports hold water, the pre-birthday bash may also serve as an artistic get-together between two of the planet’s most popular entertainers. It would be the first-ever musical collaboration of Enrique with a super star from India, a collaboration that fans think could yield an unforgettable worldwide hit.

Enrique’s visit to India has already been a huge success. His shows were full of emotion and nostalgia, as the Spanish superstar crooned classic numbers like Bailamos, Hero, Escape, and Be With You. In one poignant moment, he stopped singing Hero, clasped his hands together, and said “Namaste” with a warm smile, eliciting deafening applause and confirming his relationship with Indian fans.

Among the thousands who thronged his Mumbai performances were Bollywood stars such as Malaika Arora, Rakul Preet Singh, Jackky Bhagnani, Sonal Chauhan, and Pragya Jaiswal — all seen singing and dancing along to every rhythm. With Enrique’s visit to Mannat and rumors of a fresh collaboration in the offing, Shah Rukh Khan’s 60th birthday bash is turning out to be nothing less than legendary.

'Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere' Marketing: Who's the Movie for?

‘Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere’ Marketing: Who’s the Movie for?

by jummy84 October 26, 2025
written by jummy84

Sometimes, even the Google AI Overview gets it right. Sometimes. In searching out confirmation as to when Scott Cooper‘s Bruce Springsteen film, “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere,” first tacked on that “Springsteen,” a quick Google search helped, as did the AI Overview leering at me from the top of the page.

Important findings reigned. First up: “The initial title of the film was ‘Deliver Me from Nowhere,’ based on Warren Zanes’ book” (true!). Next: “The title was officially changed to ‘Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere‘ in June 2025, according to news reports and the movie’s production status updates” (well, really, it was a new trailer, but OK). Finally: “The change was made to make it clear to the audience that the film is a biopic about Bruce Springsteen.” Ah, well.

Jeremy Strong at the 97th Oscars held at the Dolby Theatre on March 2, 2025 in Hollywood, California.

Except, well, it’s not really. At least, not in the way that a potential movie-goer who is not already a fan of The Boss would expect to see if they’re hitting the multiplex to check out the “Springsteen biopic.” Adding his name to the front of film’s title — again, a title pulled directly from a much-loved and well-known book on the subject — was the first sign that the 20th Century Studios powers that be were getting a little squirrelly about their big fall feature.

What is “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere” really about? As our own David Ehrlich wrote in his review out of Telluride, it “is a semi-desolate sketch of a biopic about a depressed 32-year-old man” who is also “haunted by unresolved childhood trauma and suffering from a depression that he knows how to sing about but lacks the words to diagnose” and “is at its best during the frequent stretches when it finds Bruce staring at the walls of his isolated rental home in Colts Neck.”

Trailers for the film — which has now screened at Telluride, New York Film Festival, and AFI Fest, to name a few, so it’s certainly not hiding — play up the more glitzy and recognizable moments of Springsteen’s career. These are also moments that have relatively little to do with the film itself. If moviegoers are taking marketing on its face, who could blame them for expecting to see a film about Bruce and the E Street Band on the road? That’s what this trailer opens with.

Or, consider this clip, the only one on 20th Century Studios’ dedicated “Deliver Me from Nowhere” YouTube page, which is entirely comprised of a performance of “Born to Run.” For those keeping track, Cooper’s film is about the creation of Springsteen’s album “Nebraska.” “Born to Run” is not a track that appears on that album. And while this performance is indeed part of the film, it’s a very weird pick to represent the entire feature.

Look, I’m the last person to think that a film about a depressive episode in a global superstar’s early career makes for the easiest of sells. (Well, small note here, I think most musical biopics should probably be about a depressive episode in a global superstar’s early career, but I don’t run a film studio.) I get the impulse to try to make this look like something more broad, but that’s a mistake.

I worry that when even casual Bruce fans show up to see the movie, they’ll expect to see what they’ve seen in the trailers: The Boss jumping around on stage, playing “Born in the U.S.A.,” celebrating another smash hit show with the E Street Band. Hell, they’ll expect to see significantly more of the E Street Band in general.

This is not that film. It’s better for it, and it’s also a much tougher sell.

Other marketing, the kind of stuff that people who would need to seek out (like, oh, big fans of Bruce) is more honest, like this featurette all about Cooper’s approach to this specific time in The Boss’ life and career. Cooper isn’t shying away from what sort of film he’s made, even if audiences might be surprised. As he told IndieWire earlier this week, “So many people have preconceived notions about a music film about Bruce Springsteen. Or a film that they want to see, like the ‘Born in the U.S.A.’ or ‘Born to Run’ story. … This is probably the most unexpected story that folks will get about a music icon. … I’m realizing this film is not what people expected. Now, whether it’s what they wanted is another thing.”

If it’s not clear: I am a huge Springsteen fan. I’ve seen him live over a dozen times — that includes actual concerts, performances at premieres (like the NYFF premiere), and quite literally live in his own home studio when I interviewed him for “Western Stars” in 2019 — and the prospect of a biopic uniquely tailored to some of Springsteen’s continuing obsessions, interests, and neuroses is particularly appealing to me. And, based on the general queries I’ve made of other Bruce fans, that holds true for them, too.

(Fun fact: Ehrlich’s older brother is a Springsteen freak who has seen him in concert so many times that he’s pushing triple digits with his count. When I asked David if Steven is excited to see the film, he said he was “frothing at the mouth.”) Now that’s an audience to bank on and appeal to.

Those are not the people who need a trailer or a clip or a title that simplifies what they’re going to see (or, if we’re being more candid about it, just kind of lies about it). Those are the people who will come multiple times, tell their fellow fans to check it out, to champion it. They’re Bruce fans; dedication is part of their DNA. Don’t ever count them out. Like the Boss, they’re tougher than the rest. Selling this film to them does not have to be.

A 20th Century Release, “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere” hits theaters on Friday, October 24.

‘Love Is Blind’ Successful Couples: Who’s Still Together?

by jummy84 October 23, 2025
written by jummy84

The Love Is Blind successful couples are an exclusive bunch. Netflix’s kooky, addictive reality show is many things—a social experiment, a dating show, a highly engineered drama factory—but it does actually lead to lasting relationships for some.

Whether you believe that love is blind or not, there’s no doubt that this twist on The Dating Game is hard to stop watching. We love shows like Love Is Blind for a reason. For the unfamiliar, single men and women talk to each other from isolation pods without seeing each other until they agree to get engaged, at which point they can actually start dating and meet each other’s families. But anyone who knows the stress of wedding planning can guess what happens from there: fighting, tears, and breakups. So much goes on that sometimes whole other proposals happen we don’t even see onscreen.

Despite the many love triangles and surprises, and the downright bizarre nature of the show, some people do form genuine connections, and the Love Is Blind successful couples may just stand the test of time.

Lauren Speed, a former contestant (player? participant?), had this piece of advice for Love Is Blind couples: “When it was time for me to decide if I wanted to get married on #loveisBlind I struggled. I wanted to really make sure I got married because I could see forever with Cam. Not from production pressures or wanting fame. I wasn’t about to get legally married just for television. Because once those cameras leave and it’s just you and that person living and creating a life together…fame can’t save you. And who wants to be trapped in an empty marriage that’s hell! I really think this worked for us because it was genuinely 2 people not only finding love…But really falling IN LOVE with each other in the most unexpected way! Wishing the best for everyone in #loveisblind2 whether you decided to marry or stay single I hope that it brings you all closer to the happiness you all deserve! Without settling in any way.” Her marriage seems to be going just fine, so maybe it works!

If you think you might find your One True Love in Netflix’s pods, be sure you know the stats before you call up Love Is Blind casting. Because while most of the pairings don’t make it to their honeymoon, you can never say never.

Here’s where the Love Is Blind successful couples (so, anyone who got engaged onscreen) are now. Consider this your Love Is Blind After the Altar…after that.

When Sanjay Dutt Was Cast In & As Khalnayak & Subhash Ghai Revealed Why He Ditched Every Actor For This Villain, “A Man Who’s Full Of…”

When Sanjay Dutt Was Cast In & As Khalnayak & Subhash Ghai Revealed Why He Ditched Every Actor For This Villain(Photo Credit – Wikipedia)

Khal Nayak, released in 1993, has developed a cult following over the years. From the characters to the songs, the film holds a significant place in Indian cinema. Sanjay Dutt’s performance as Ballu Balram won hearts and is still regarded as one of his iconic performances. Subhash Ghai made the right decision to cast Dutt in that part, and he once revealed his reason behind his choice. Keep scrolling for the deets.

Ghai managed to balance mass appeal with moral questions about crime, justice, and redemption. Its mix of action, emotion and music became template for 90s masala blockbusters. The film featured Dutt in the titular role with Madhuri Dixit, Anupam Kher, Rakhee Gulzar, and Jackie Shroff in supporting roles. The movie won multiple accolades and awards, besides being a commercial success.

Subhash Ghai shared the real reason behind choosing Sanjay Dutt for Khal Nayak

In 2023, Khal Nayak turned 30, and during a conversation with Hindustan Times, Subhash Ghai shared how he locked Sanjay Dutt for the role. The filmmaker revealed he was adamant about taking Sanjay Dutt for the role. He reportedly turned down every other actor and chose Dutt for the lead role.

The veteran filmmaker recalled, “Once Sanju asked me why I chose him for the role, and I told him it was because of his eyes. Uski aankhon mein ek bholapan hai, ek bachpana hai. But in the very next moment, you see a man who’s full of anger. He plays the son, but at the same time, he justifies the character of a villain who kidnaps and murders.”

According to a latest report by Mid Day, a sequel to Khal Nayak is being planned. A top production house has acquired the exclusive rights to the film and its future adaptations, with plans to expand it into a cinematic universe featuring antihero-driven stories. As per the source, Sanjay Dutt will reprise the role along with new characters.

The source said, “The movie ended with Ballu being sentenced to life imprisonment. In the second instalment, Sanjay’s character will take the story forward with young actors. After Khal Nayak’s success, it was remade in Telugu, Tamil, and Punjabi. This time, the idea is to make the sequel in Hindi as well as other languages.” They also said, “It will include stories of heroic antagonists like Ballu, who was a victim of his situation.”

Vicky Kaushal’s Favorite Directors: Guess Who’s Not On The List? | Glamsham.com

by jummy84 October 16, 2025
written by jummy84

Actor Vicky Kaushal has spoken about the ongoing buzz around his strained relationship with director Anurag Kashyap, days after the director spoke candidly about their current lack of interaction.

In a conversation at the Yuvaa Conclave, the Masaan actor, all set to become a father soon, spoke about the directors with whom he is close. Vicky openly tagged directors such as Anand Tiwari, Meghna Gulzar, and Laxman Utekar, highlighting the importance of long-term creative partnerships based on respect and trust to him. Interestingly, there was no mention of Anurag Kashyap’s name in the list — something that did not escape the fans, particularly in the wake of Kashyap’s recent comments.

This comes after the director’s open interview with The Lallantop, where he spoke about Vicky Kaushal’s new movie Chhaava, which was released on February 14, 2025. Anurag shared that he screened the movie just to watch actor Viineet Kumar Singh perform and confessed that he didn’t particularly care for it.

More importantly, he also opened up about his equation at a personal level with Kaushal. “I have very little interaction with him now. I don’t judge him, because everyone has their own reasons… I don’t repeat myself. What I wanted to say, I said,” said Kashyap, clearly stating there has been distance between them.

For those who do not know their background, Vicky Kaushal’s first major role was in Kashyap’s 2015 film Masaan, and that remains a milestone in his career. Kashyap, an acclaimed director with a reputation for providing new talent with their initial major opportunity, had frequently boasted about Kaushal’s ascension in Bollywood. Nevertheless, with time, their professional journeys went different ways.

Vicky’s recent remarks indicate a subtle but strong effort to clear the air without taking things out of hand. By not mentioning Kashyap as one of his closest collaborators, the actor of Uri appeared to indirectly confirm increasing distance between them while accentuating the individuals who are still a part of his creative process.

Meanwhile, Kashyap’s comments also suggested no ill will merely a natural drift in all these years as both established their own careers.

Although no reason for the estrangement has been openly expressed by either side, this public acknowledgement on both their parts has placed their once-strong relationship in sharp relief, and the fans wonder now if ever the two will again work together in the future.

Who’s Most Likely To Win

Who’s Most Likely To Win

by jummy84 October 13, 2025
written by jummy84

After a long hiatus, Verzuz is officially back—this time, under full ownership of its legendary founders Swizz Beatz and Timbaland. The two producers have regained control of the platform and are reintroducing it with fireworks.

The highly anticipated return lands at ComplexCon in Las Vegas on Oct. 25, and it’s nothing short of monumental: Cash Money Records vs. No Limit Records.

Two of Hip-Hop’s most influential empires go head-to-head in a battle for the culture. Cash Money, with blockbuster artists like Lil Wayne, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Juvenile, and Hot Boys, is widely favored to dominate.

On the other side, No Limit Records, led by the pioneering Master P, boasts a deep roster including Mystikal, Silkk The Shocker, Mia X, and the late Soulja Slim, and is often overlooked despite its massive impact in the late ‘90s and early 2000s.

According to social media, most fans are seemingly betting on Cash Money. But don’t count No Limit out just yet.

The underdog role is familiar to Master P. He built No Limit from the ground up, selling CDs out of his trunk before becoming a mogul. This battle isn’t just about chart-toppers for P.; it’s about legacy, hustle, and who moved the culture.

Here are five reasons why the Cash Money and No Limit Verzuz could be closer than expected.

  • Showmanship

    Master P
Image Credit: Josh Brasted/Getty Images for ESSENCE

Being a live performance platform, showmanship plays as big a factor in who is ultimately crowned the victor as the records spun throughout the night.

We’ve seen multiple occasions where an artist or group with a seemingly sterling catalog failed to move the crowd or resonate with viewers tuning in via livestream. Throughout his career, Master P has been known for bringing an infectious energy to the stage, proving he’s not above breaking a sweat while engaging the crowd.

The same can be said for many of his artists that have passed through his stable, including Mystikal, Mia X, and others. Birdman, on the other hand, has always had a swagger that while seemingly innate, can border on lackadaisical at times.

Add in tensions among key members of the Cash Money crew and it remains to be seen if Birdman can rally his troops in their showdown against the No Limit tank.

  • Strength In Numbers

    No LimitNo Limit

One aspect of No Limit Records‘ reign that’s being underestimated is the sheer amount of classic records embedded in their catalog.

Before the age of streaming and online platforms where artists can upload musical projects, Master P and in-house producers Beats by the Pound were churning out full studio albums on a near-weekly basis.

In 1998 alone, No Limit released 21 studio albums that either earned gold or platinum certification, a feat yet to be replicated by a boutique record label. While the quality of some of those albums can be subjective, the same goes for Cash Money, as both labels experienced creative dry spells at one point or another.

But with only 20 songs needed, No Limit is armed with a considerable amount of firepower, including jams from oft-unsung artists such as Soulja Slim, Kane & Abel, Young Bleed, Fiend, Magic, and Mac. And that element of surprise could potentially neutralize some of the more commercially successful fare from the CMB.

  • Competitive Pride

    Master PMaster P
Image Credit: Randy Shropshire/Getty Images for BET

The rivalry between No Limit Records and Cash Money Records is one of the more understated in the history of Hip-Hop.

With both labels founded and headlined by New Orleans natives, the two crews have not only battled for real estate on the airwaves, but hometown pride and the distinction of being the preeminent rap crew out of Louisiana.

Master P and No Limit were the first of the two to gain national prominence, many fans and critics have concluded that Birdman and Cash Money ultimately won the war due to the label’s sustained excellence for nearly three decades.

We’re sure Master P has heard that analysis himself. Being the competitor that he is, it’s likely that despite his talk of the matchup being a celebration, he’s itching to flip the script and give the world a reminder of he and his artists’ greatness.

  • Nostalgia Factor

    No LimitNo Limit

Verzuz has grown into a cultural pastime that draws spectators of various ages and generations, even the fans that may not be as digital savvy as millennials.

Largely a platform for legacy acts, many of the participants on Verzuz made their debuts in ’90s or the ’80s.

And while viewers born in the new millennium may have a recency bias towards Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and Drake, some fans will be more excited to see artists who were prominent during their own coming of age.

The sheer nostalgia of seeing No Limit’s plethora artists turn back the hands of time could possibly turn that seeming strength into a weakness and the tide in their favor.

  • Wild Card Moments

Snoop Dogg, Master PSnoop Dogg, Master P
Image Credit: Chris Polk/FilmMagic for Bragman Nyman Cafarelli

The fact that you never know exactly what to expect from a Verzuz matchup makes it one of the more exciting and invigorating live stages to impact the culture.

While you may have a sense of what you think is going to occur, unpredictable moments, guest appearances, and lack of chemistry has resulted in numerous Verzuz upsets, according to the general consensus among fans leading into the event.

In our opinion, No Limit Records is one of the more live wild cards to participate in the event, as there’s no certainty in what playbook Master P is gonna draw from. Whereas Cash Money‘s playlist will likely consist of hits from the Hot Boys and Young Money, No Limit has multiple angles which they can attack from, whether it be Billboard smashes, hometown staples, or beloved deep cuts, from a myriad of candidates.

For instance, one wild card that could swing the balance of power in No Limit’s favor is Snoop Dogg, who released multiple albums on No Limit, including his signature hits “Still a G Thang,” Bi**h Please,” and “Snoop Dogg (What’s My Name Pt. 2).”

Beyond that, seismic collaborations like Silkk the Shocker‘s appearance on R&B star Mya’s 1999 hit “Movin’ On” and Master P’s own guest spot on LL Cool J’s “4, 3, 2, 1 (Remix),” are among the selections that may not immediately come to mind when thinking of No Limit, but can equally cause an uproar if delivering in the right moment and fashion.

Cristiano Ronaldo Becomes Football’s First Billionaire: Who’s Next On The Richest Players List? | Glamsham.com

Cristiano Ronaldo just crossed a huge line, he’s now officially the first footballer ever to reach billionaire status, with estimates placing his net worth at around $1.4 billion.  That’s not just from goals and trophies though it’s from massive contracts, brand deals, smart business moves, and a global brand empire.

A big chunk of his wealth now comes from his Saudi club contract, which is said to be worth over $400 million.  Add to that years of endorsement deals with Nike, Armani, and others, real estate, hotels, perfumes, and more, Ronaldo’s earnings span way beyond the pitch.

Before this, most public sources estimated Ronaldo’s net worth in 2025 somewhere between $275 million and $600 million, depending on what you count (salary, endorsements, assets).  But with this new milestone, those older numbers look modest in comparison.

So who’s behind him now? Here are some names frequently mentioned, along with their rough net worths:

  • Lionel Messi: Often considered Ronaldo’s peer in both football and finances, Messi’s fortune is estimated around $580 million in some sources  .
  • Neymar Jr.: A top earner from both salary and endorsements, Neymar is often listed in the top 5 richest players.
  • Kylian Mbappé: Young, marketable, and already stacking big contracts and brand deals.
  • Faiq Bolkiah: He’s often listed as the richest footballer if you include inherited wealth. Some say his net worth is in the billions, though not from football itself.

These numbers are noisy. They depend on what you include (investments, private assets, debts). But Ronaldo’s jump to billionaire status changes the conversation. He’s not just a player anymore, he’s a business mogul, a brand, a legacy.

The question now: who’ll be the next footballer to break into the billion-dollar club? Messi? Mbappé? A royal heir playing on the side? Watch this space.
