John Oliver Bids Adieu To ‘Deeply Weird’ Eric Adams, Welcomes Mamdani

by jummy84 November 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Last Week Tonight honored its native New York City as John Oliver conducted an audit of Eric Adams‘s scandal-ridden mayoralty — and welcomed recently minted mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, an introduction that led to resounding cheers from the live audience.

As Oliver discussed Mamdani’s triumphant speech — which he characterized as an “entirely earned victory lap” and “pretty satisfying” — he noted that some, such as CNN’s Van Jones, critiqued the words as “sharp” and a “character switch.”

“He just weathered one of the most Islamophobic campaigns in recent memory,” the late-night host countered. “‘I wish Andrew Cuomo only the best in private live’ is a frankly superhuman level of grace to extend to a man who has yet to pronounce your name correctly once.”

After concluding his story for the night — on how America’s singular felony murder laws exacerbate mass incarceration — Oliver returned to the topic of his show’s home city, delivering a eulogy of sorts for the outgoing Adams administration, scheduled to depart Jan. 1.

Calling the leadup to the NYC mayoral election “truly insane from start to finish” — as best exemplified by a viral debate question concerning parades — Oliver mulled over the fact that one local news segment couldn’t locate a single resident to express disappointment in Adams dropping out of the race.

“They couldn’t find anyone! This city has 8 million people. I’m a 1000% sure I could find someone who would vote for a pigeon fucking a bagel in Central Park, but no takers for Eric Adams — that has got to hurt,” he quipped.

In offering “one last look at Eric Adams because he is a deeply weird man,” the political comic paid homage to Adams’s amusing flag-raising ceremonies, in which he has repeatedly stated that New York is the [insert given nation’s capital city] of America.

Though Adams began as a popular candidate with an over 60% approval rating, his stats dropped over 40% in the span of two years. Oliver outlined “the true hallmark of the Adams administration was its constant scandals,” going over a laundry list of corruption, bribery and conspiracy charges faced by a number of admin officials.

“This is a great city, but that is not because of you [Adams] and sometimes it is in active spite of you,” Oliver concluded. “You know, if I could sum up Eric Adams’s mayoralty in one word, it’d probably be: New York, because this is a place where every day you wake up you can experience a plane crashing into our Trade Center, to a fake vegan, non-Alabaman leaving a ghost-filled Gracie Mansion to lecture all of us on family, business, public safety and, of course, clitoral stimulation.”

And though Oliver made sure to include the “soundbite bonanza” that was Republican Curtis Sliwa’s campaign — from his anecdotes about his historical clashes with organized crime to his shots at Andrew Cuomo — the host did forget one gem from the Adams administration: his much-memed, bizarre anti-drug PSA video.

Rock Hall Welcomes Soundgarden, White Stripes, Outkast

by jummy84 November 9, 2025
written by jummy84

Soundgarden, the White Stripes, Outkast, Cyndi Lauper, Bad Company, Joe Cocker and Chubby Checker were enshrined in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last night (Nov. 8) during a Los Angeles ceremony flecked with superstar contributions from Olivia Rodrigo, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Chappell Roan and Missy Elliott.

“When the Seattle music scene exploded, it resurrected rock and roll for me,” actor Jim Carrey professed while inducting Soundgarden’s surviving members Matt Cameron, Kim Thayil, Ben Shepherd and Hiro Yamamoto. “When I heard Soundgarden for the first time, I wasn’t just excited — I wanted to put a flannel shirt on and run into the streets screaming, my mother smoked during pregnancy!”

The Pretty Reckless’ Taylor Momsen stepped in for late frontman Chris Cornell on “Rusty Cage,” with an assist from Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, while fellow Seattle veteran Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains joined when Brandi Carlile fronted the band for “Black Hole Sun.”

“I am just really, really happy that he got to make music with his friends,” Cornell’s daughter Lily said after Carrey’s speech. “At the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about. I know how much purpose that gave him, and how much it’s meant to people who have heard that music. That’s what I’ll be holding in my heart tonight.”

His younger daughter Toni, 21, also sang “Fell on Black Days” with guitar accompaniment from Heart’s Nancy Wilson. “I just wish he were here to see this tremendous honor for himself,” she said. “I know how proud he would have been, but he’s the only reason why I do music, so being here and being able to share my voice because of him is amazing.”

Jack White represented the White Stripes amid the absence of reclusive drummer Meg White during their induction, the speech for which was given by fellow Detroit rocker Iggy Pop. “I hear echoes of the Who, Small Faces, the Beatles, hard rock and country blues in Jack’s playing,” Pop offered. “He could do it all. And the writing he is capable of was something that was not typical of the great Detroit bands of the ’60s and ’70s. This was more melodic, more hooky. After all, it was a new century and the White Stripes’ music was coming from a foundational love instead of revolution, and with time to turn a page.”

In his acceptance speech, White acknowledged he’d spoken with Meg “the other day” and that “she’s very sorry she couldn’t make it tonight, but she’s very grateful for the folks who have supported her throughout all the years. To young artists, I want to say, get your hands dirty and drop the screens and get out in your garage or your little room and get obsessed. Get obsessed with something. Get passionate. We all want to share in what you might create.” The duo’s music was repped by guest performers Rodrigo and Feist on “We’re Going To Be Friends” and Twenty One Pilots on the inescapable “Seven Nation Army.”

Both members of pioneering rap duo Outkast were in the room for their induction last night, but they also chose not to stage together for what would have been their first performance since a 2014 reunion tour. Instead, Andre 3000 watched from the audience as Big Boi led a guest-filled run through “ATLiens” with J.I.D., “Ms. Jackson” with Doja Cat (who forgot the words at one point), a sizzling “B.O.B.” with Tyler, the Creator, a shaky “Hey Ya!” with Janelle Monae, “The Way You Move” with Sleepy Brown and “The Whole World” with Killer Mike.

To begin the show, Wonder, the Roots’ Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, Flea, Beck, Maxwell and Jennifer Hudson teamed for a Sly Stone tribute of “Dance to the Music,” “Everyday People,” Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)” and “Higher.” Another fallen legend from 2025, Brian Wilson, got his own salute by John, Tom Petty keyboardist Benmont Tench, drummer Kenny Aronoff and bassist Don Was on the Beach Boys’ “God Only Knows.”

Lauper focused her induction speech on the influence “of the women in the industry who came before me. My shoulders are broad enough to have the women that come after me stand on mine, and the little kid in me still believes that rock’n’roll can save the world.” The artist was inducted by Roan, who dusted off a Lauper-inspired outfit for the occasion and even accidentally said the “F word” during her remarks (“I messed up so bad by refusing to get contacts,” she joked).

“Cyndi embodies every quality of an artist that I admire,” Roan said. “She’s a born performer and a revolutionary songwriter. A forever fashion icon and a fierce advocate and ally. From the very beginning, she owned every ounce of who she was.” Lauper then performed with a pickup band including Go-Go’s drummer Gina Schock and ex-Smashing Pumpkins bassist Ginger Pooley on “True Colors,” “Time After Time” with rising U.K. singer RAYE and “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” with the latter, Avril Lavigne and Salt-N-Pepa.

Bad Company singer Paul Rodgers was too ill to attend the induction, leading to drummer Simon Kirke carrying performances of “Feel Like Makin’ Love” and “Can’t Get Enough” with assistance from the Black Crowes’ Chris Robinson, Bryan Adams, Aerosmith’s Joe Perry and Nancy Wilson. Cocker, who died in 2014, was feted by Bryan Adams (“It’s one thing to cover a song — it’s another to make it your own,” he said of his famed cover of the Beatles’ “With a Little Help From My Friends”), and Elliott helped welcome Salt-N-Pepa as the first female rap group in the Hall.

Warren Zevon, Lenny Waronker, Carol Kaye, Thom Bell and Nicky Hopkins were also inducted this year via special categories.

‘Ghosts’ Thanksgiving Episode Welcomes Ben Feldman Back to Woodstone in New Season 5 Photos

by jummy84 November 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Ghosts may have just welcomed back Trevor’s (Asher Grodman) daughter, Abby (Gideon Adlon), but the show is set to bring back another familiar face for its Thanksgiving-timed installment, “Planes, Shanes and Automobiles,” featuring Ben Feldman‘s Kyle.

As viewers will recall, Kyle was introduced in Season 4 as another living with the ability to see spirits, like Sam (Rose McIver). Fans may recall that he attempted to hit on Sam, but that didn’t work out too well. In that case, why is Kyle back? As the episode’s title hints, there will be a Planes, Trains and Automobiles angle to the storyline, but that’s not exactly where Kyle comes into play; instead, that’s Sam and Pete (Richie Moriarty).

The logline for the installment teases, “Unsatisfied with Jay’s (Utkarsh Ambudkar) ability to tend to their needs while Sam is away, the ghosts bring in a better babysitter, Kyle.” The logline goes on to reveal, “Sam and Pete get on each other’s nerves during a book tour road trip, and things reach a breaking point when an airline strike threatens their ability to get home in time for Thanksgiving.”

The quandary that Sam and Pete will face is certainly one that many holiday travelers can relate to, but as annoyed as they may get with one another, we’re sure they’ll bring laughs to viewers at home. And although Sam and Pete may be on the road, it appears most of the spirits of Woodstone will be staying put (as they can’t cross the ghost boundary). As seen in all-new images below, Alberta (Danielle Pinnock), Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky), Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones), Sasappis (Román Zaragoza), Thorfinn (Devan Chandler Long), and Trevor are all on board for whatever Kyle has in store.

Check out the images below, and stay tuned for more on Ghosts in the weeks ahead as Season 5 continues on CBS.

Mariah Carey Christmas Commercial for Sephora Welcomes Holiday Season

by jummy84 November 2, 2025
written by jummy84

Mariah Carey‘s welcome to the Christmas season is here. The “All I Want for Christmas Is You” hitmaker made an official announcement to kick off the holidays in partnership with Sephora.

Explore

See latest videos, charts and news

“Halloween slayed,” Carey says in the Joseph Kahn-directed ad that dropped as Halloween (Oct. 31) came to a close. “But now … it’s time!”

There’s one problem: Someone’s rummaged through the pop diva’s Sephora bag and pilfered the new beauty goodies she snagged for the 2025 holidays.

In the lighthearted spot, Carey demands someone spill the tea on who stole her makeup so she can ring in the season of her modern Christmas carol, and — spoiler alert — it’s not the Grinch.

It’s Billy Eichner as an overworked elf advocating for better treatment at Christmastime.

“Bad news, Mariah Carey,” the comedian taunts. “The elves are striking this year. Elf revenge for putting us through holiday hell! Santa’s helper quit. I’m pawning this so I can afford elf therapy!”

“That’s my blush, elf boy,” Carey says.

“Your lipstick? I’m taking it. No bells. No cheer. No glam. Bye, sweetie,” Eichner throws back.

The Christmas commercial comes right after Carey dropped a collection of holiday merch, like a snow globe that plays “All I Want for Christmas Is You”; a Christmas sweater, earmuffs, socks, pajamas, robe and slippers; ornaments and stockings; holiday baking supplies and a large inflatable lawn decoration. Mariah might not “want a lot for Christmas,” but she’s given fans plenty to add to their Amazon wish lists.

Watch Carey’s “It’s Time!!!!!” announcement below to find out how she saves Christmas from being canceled. Oh, and go ahead and press play on her classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” the song that Christmas music lovers have listened to enough to make it Carey’s longest Hot 100 reign (with 18 total weeks at No. 1, four of which were just last year).

Kelsey Grammer welcomes his 8th child at age 70 – National

by jummy84 October 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Kelsey Grammer has officially become a dad — again — at the age of 70.

The Frasier star announced he and his wife, Kayte Walsh, 46, recently welcomed a baby boy named Christopher during an appearance Monday on the Pod Meets World podcast.

This is the 70-year-old actor’s eighth child, and his fourth with Walsh.

Grammer told Boy Meets World actors Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle and Rider Strong that he and his wife “just had our fourth one, so it just became eight kids.”

“It was, like, three days ago,” the Cheers actor added. “Christopher that’s just joined the family.”

Walsh’s pregnancy was announced in June after photos published by People showed Grammer walking through a park in London beside his wife, who was wearing a flowy black dress. They were joined by their three children, Faith, 13, Gabriel, 11, and James, 8.

The Frasier star and Walsh got married in February 2011 in New York City, following his divorce from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Camille Grammer, with whom he shares daughter Mason, 24, and son Jude, 21.

Grammer is also dad to his daughter Spencer, 42, whom he shares with ex-wife Doreen Alderman, and daughter Greer, 33, with ex Barrie Buckner.

He previously spoke about how his work as an actor has helped him become a great father.

“My children—my young children, older children—the happiest I ever am is if they’re all in the same room together,” Grammer told Variety in June of 2024. “My work has allowed me to be able to do that. I’ve been given this great experience. It’s been painful and challenging and hard and tragic—all those things. But boy, it’s a great life. And I want to pass that on to them.”

In the same interview, Grammer hinted that some of his children might want to follow in his footsteps in the entertainment industry.

“Kayte and I were talking about how it’s really something that a child would follow in their father’s footsteps,” he said. “To think that all my kids, at least the ones that have a hand in the air, are ready to take responsibility for their lives, are all drawn to this industry. [Kayte] said, ‘That’s something to be proud of.’”

Last May, Grammer told People that he’s been “playing catch up” with his older children.

“I have neglected a couple of the kids in my life, especially the first two,” Grammer told the outlet. “I’m trying to make up for a little of it now. I’m still their dad, so you can always have [a] chance to show up.”

He also said he’s trying to make sure his own kids learn from his past mistakes once they have children of their own.

“I probably should have been a little more clear and maybe less tolerant with the older ones,” he said. “I’m pretty tolerant with the young ones, but I’m clear about how there’s certain expectations and certain ways to navigate through a social situation: keep it close to the vest and play it straight, and you’re going to be well-served in your life. I’m a little more specific with them about doing their studies and being prepared. [I tell them], ‘What’s your job in life? Showing up.’”

by jummy84 October 26, 2025

The latest addition to the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe is Aneet Padda. Her role in the upcoming film Shakti Shalini was confirmed during the post-credit scene of Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma. Now, Khurrana has officially welcomed the Saiyaara star in the MHCU and penned a lovely note for her.

Expressing his joy over a fellow Punjabi bagging a big project, Ayushmann wrote, “Welcome to the MHCU @aneetpadda_ Punjabi aa gaye oye!! From one dreamer to another- keep chasing what you want. Nothing is impossible.. so proud to see someone from Punjab making us all proud.. Can’t wait to see you shine in Shakti Shalini! Onwards and upwards Aneet.”

Along with the note, he shared a screenshot of the post credit scene that announced Aneet as the lead in Shakti Shalini.

The actress reposted this and wrote, “Khurrana ji da munda is making waves like always

thank you so much, it’s a little extra special coming from someone I look up to so much. So so grateful for the warm welcome @ayushmannk”

thamma
Aneet’s casting in the film was confirmed after a lot of speculation and needless to say, her fans were elated. The actress was introduced along with the tag line of the film that read, “The protector. The destroyer. The mother of all.” Talking about roping in the Saiyaara star, filmmaker Amar Kaushik, who is an important part of the MHCU, told Filmfare, “We wanted someone younger for that character, someone who doesn’t have a baggage. We wanted a character like that and it evolved as we kept writing. She is also a very good actor. Not just Saiyaara, but I have seen her work besides that. She caught things really well during the screen test and the reading. We had brought in Abhay Verma in Munjya (2024), who was very new at that time. But he went well with the character, so we stuck to him. That’s our thing.”

Shakti Shalini will be released on December 24 next year.

Following the success of her debut film Saiyaara, Aneet Padda has been cast as the lead in Shakti Shalini, the sixth installment of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU). Fans first caught a glimpse of her character in the post-credits scene of Thamma, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna. The scene introduced a mysterious woman in a white lehenga, floating mid-air in a dense forest, her long braid swaying in the wind. While her face wasn’t visible, viewers quickly speculated that it was Aneet, signaling her grand entry into the horror-comedy franchise.

Ayushmann Khurrana welcomed her to the MHCU via Instagram stories, writing, “Welcome to the MHCU @aneetpadda_ Punjabi aa gaye oye!! From one dreamer to another—keep chasing what you want. Nothing is impossible… so proud to see someone from Punjab making us all proud. Can’t wait to see you shine in Shakti Shalini! Onwards and upwards, Aneet.” The post garnered excitement among fans, celebrating Aneet’s addition to the popular franchise.

Ayushmann Khurrana Instagram Story

Initially, reports had suggested Kiara Advani might play the lead, but it was Aneet Padda, lauded for her screen presence and emotional depth in Saiyaara, who ultimately secured the role. In the film, she is introduced as “Shakti Shalini — the creator, the destroyer, and the mother of all.” Director Amar Kaushik shared that while developing the script, they realised a younger actor was needed, and Aneet’s performance in Saiyaara made her the perfect fit.

This marks Aneet’s second feature film, and anticipation is high as fans await her performance in the supernatural yet humorous universe of MHCU.

Vanessa Kirby and Paul Rabil have officially entered a new chapter — parenthood! The Fantastic Four actress and her boyfriend, professional lacrosse player Paul Rabil, have welcomed their first child together.

Paul shared the joyful news on Instagram on October 20, offering a touching glimpse into life as a new dad. “I’m learning that becoming a parent slows you down and wakes you up at the same time,” he wrote alongside heartwarming photos of the couple with their newborn. “I’m really grateful for everyone’s health, that I get to wake up everyday to mum’s enormous love, and that we get to have you in our lives now.”

He also revealed a playful nod to their future as a sports-loving family, writing, “For your first cradle stick. It’ll hold many stories and blessings. Likely broken windows too. Balls are allowed in the house.”

Vanessa first announced her pregnancy in May by debuting her baby bump on the red carpet. In a July interview with People, she opened up about how portraying Sue Storm in Fantastic Four: First Steps influenced her view of motherhood. “It didn’t define who she was,” she said of her character. “She was absolutely a mother, but also a powerful team member who faced threats head-on.”

She added, “Playing her while being pregnant changed me. It was the lived experience of balancing something sacred with personal purpose.”
