Stadium Experience Welcomes Watford FC as Its Newest Member

Stadium Experience has announced that Watford Football Club has become the latest member of its not-for-profit association, joining a growing network of UK clubs working together to showcase stadium venues for conferences and events.

Watford FC’s addition follows a busy summer in which Birmingham City FC, Millwall FC, and Wrexham AFC also joined. The association now represents over 70 football, rugby, and cricket clubs nationwide.

Founded in 2002 by five pioneering clubs, Stadium Experience exists to share best practice, collaborate, and promote stadia as unique, high-quality venues. Members benefit from joint marketing opportunities, networking with like-minded venue professionals, exchanging ideas and solutions, and taking part in the prestigious Stadium Events & Hospitality Awards, now in its 19th year.

Watford Colosseum officially reopened on Friday 29th August with a monumental performance by Ocean Colour Scene marking the beginning of a bold new chapter. The 40,000 square-foot space managed by AEG Presents on behalf of Watford Borough Council provides the region with a much needed world class entertainment venue. The reopening of is expected to have a significant positive impact on the local economy, creating new jobs, boosting tourism, and reinvigorating the night-time economy.

Closed since 2020 and following an extensive multi-million-pound refurbishment by Watford City Council the Colosseum welcomed music fans on Friday night to experience a transformed space that blends state-of-the-art acoustics with heritage preservation honouring the venue’s distinctive architectural character. The refurbishment includes the installation of a brand-new stage, extensive upgrades to the bar areas and visitor facilities, and the reopening of the building’s iconic 1930s main entrance.

The Colosseum is the newest addition to the AEG Presents UK mid-sized venue expansion and joins the portfolio which includes Eventim Apollo, indigo at The O2 and University of Wolverhampton at The Halls with a new venue as part of the London Olympia redevelopment set to open next year.

With the successful launch event behind them, the team at Watford Colosseum is focused on delivering a best-in-class experience for artists and fans alike. Lisa Mart, General Manager Watford Colosseum said “Great venues bring people together for special moments and that’s exactly what happened on our opening night. Ocean Colour Scene were fantastic as were the fans and it was an incredible atmosphere. Myself and the team are very proud of both the venue and the line up of artists we have set to play here and can’t wait for the next shows!”

Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: “The reopening of the Colosseum with Ocean Colour Scene was a brilliant success and a great way to start this new chapter for one of Watford’s most loved venues. The refurbishment has carefully preserved the world-class acoustics while updating the building so this Grade II listed landmark can be enjoyed for years to come.

“With AEG Presents UK, well known for running excellent venues and live performances, we can look forward to more exciting acts, including Electric Umbrella, Jools Holland, The Stranglers and David Essex. The renewed Colosseum will host leading national talent as well as community events, making it one of the region’s standout destinations for entertainment.”
