Shopping Break Up, Share Video for Final Single “White Noise”: Watch

by jummy84 August 23, 2025
written by jummy84

Shopping have broken up. The UK post-punk trio hadn’t put out an album since 2020’s All or Nothing, but confirmed the news on Instagram last week. “After 13 years, Shopping is taking our last spin through the aisles,” the band wrote in a post on Friday, August 15. Today, they’ve also shared the new song “White Noise,” billed as their final single, with an accompanying video. Watch it below.

Formed in London, England in 2012, Shopping drew heavily from the classic post-punk of Mo-Dettes, Gang of Four, and Delta 5. The trio of guitarist Ray Aggs, bassist Billy Easter, and drummer Andrew Milk—all former members of the band Covergirl—first gained notoriety when their 2013 debut album, Consumer Complaints, was reissued by FatCat Records in 2015.

Though they repeatedly insisted that they were more interested in making people dance than offering political commentary, Shopping became known for their portrayals of queer alienation under capitalism. They shared the album Why Choose in 2015 and, in 2018, released The Official Body, which boasted a fuller sound and helped the band to reach international touring act status. Pitchfork named both The Official Body and All or Nothing as among the best rock albums of their respective years.

“This song and video are full of incredible memories, all made possible by the love and support of our fans,” Shopping wrote of “White Noise” on Instagram. “You’ve taken us far and wide on so many adventures, and we’re truly thankful for every single moment. It’s bittersweet, but mostly we feel grateful for you, our community, and for all the joy and noise we’ve made together. See you tomorrow 🫶”

Watch Michael Urie Nail His Self-Taped Audition for ‘Shrinking’

by jummy84 August 22, 2025
written by jummy84

Michael Urie is a consummate performer, equally comfortable plying his craft on stage, on camera, or in the bedroom of his New York apartment. The Upper West Side pad is where both he and his partner, actor Ryan Spahn, record most of their self-taped auditions, including the one that landed Urie his Emmy-nominated role as manic best friend Brian on the Apple TV+ comedy Shrinking. The video, shared exclusively with The Hollywood Reporter and shown below, reveals just how dialed in Urie was to the character — even as his scene partner, Spahn, read Jason Segel’s lines in a dry, affectless tone to avoid drawing too much attention to himself. (“The only thing in the world we fight about is self tapes,” Urie says. “And so basically anytime he has an audition, I have an audition, like it gets tense for that reason.”)

Between performances of Oh Mary! on Broadway, Urie spoke with THR to describe his self-tape process and why he prefers it to in-person auditions.

“I’m a fan of self tapes,” says Urie. “I know there’s a lot of people who like to go in and audition in person. I guess that they like the feedback. They like to get notes. But I like a self-tape because it is actually more like what working on TV or film is like. You can do takes. You can decide where you want the camera. You can watch it back.”

And unlike in-person try-outs, where actors often have scripts in hand, self-taping allows auditioners to better prepare and go off book, freeing them up to perform.

The scenes Urie recorded and sent to Shrinking’s producers — Ted Lasso’s Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein — were mostly from the second episode of the show’s first season. “It was really easy to memorize,” Urie says. “It was such a good script — and it was already picked up. It wasn’t just a pilot. It was a real-deal TV show with a big ol’ star, Jason Segel.” (Urie did not yet know that Harrison Ford would be joining the cast.) “This felt like a job I could get. And that’s so all those things make it easier.”

When Urie and Spahn shot the tape, they were both starring in Jane Anger, an off-Broadway comedy written for them by their friend Talene Monahon, about William Shakespeare’s getting writer’s block while on lockdown during the plague. (Parallels with COVID confinement were very much the point.) Urie grew a beard for the first time to play the Bard, which is why he sports one in the audition, and why, by extension, Brian has one on Shrinking.

Unlike Monahon’s fictional version of Shakespeare, Urie didn’t let the lockdown keep him down. Early in the pandemic, he livestreamed a solo performance from his apartment of Buyer and Cellar, the critically acclaimed one-man show he premiered in 2013, about an aspiring actor who takes a job as an employee in the entirely non-fictional mini theme park Barbra Streisand built in her basement. “I think I did over six hundred performances, and that was the only time I ever did it without anyone laughing,” recalls Urie.

The experience may have prepared him for his Shrinking audition a few years later, in which he delivered a finely tuned comedic performance to an all but empty room (and if Spahn was laughing, it wasn’t audible).

Urie claims he forgot about the audition tape shortly after hitting send. “Over the years, I’ve gotten really good at making the audition, sending it away, and then throwing away the materials. Literally. I literally waste the paper. I will throw it away so it’s not even in my home. I won’t keep it just in case I get called back. I get rid of it.”

Several weeks went by before he got a call from his reps. And it sounded like bad news. “They said, ‘Well, we really thought this might go to a screen test.’” Devastated, Urie asked them what happened. “And they were like, ‘You just got it. That’s all.’” No callback required. “Agents love that. They love doing that.”

With that, he learned that he’d gotten booked for 10 episodes of Shrinking. And there was one more thing: “They let me know that they also hired Harrison Ford,” Urie says with a laugh, “so don’t expect much money.”

“Hey all you groovy headbangers…” Shut up, sit down, and watch the movie! Alamo Drafthouse has posted a funny “Don’t Talk, Don’t Text” PSA for the upcoming Spinal Tap II: The End Continues movie featuring the old rockers all together. The long-awaited mockumentary rock doc sequel is hitting theaters in September – watch the full trailer here. Drafthouse got the band together to make this video, which plays before the movie to remind people attending the movie of their rules: no talking, no texting, no disturbances or you’ll be kicked out. For real. Still the best policy for all movie theaters nowadays! The entire cast rock band is back for more mayhem 40 years later after the original This is Spinal Tap doc, as they reunite and deal with all their grudges from the past. Spinal Tap II: The End Continues is once again directed by Rob Reiner, with Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer reprising their iconic roles as the legendary heavy metal band Spinal Tap. We also posted other Alamo Drafthouse PSA videos featuring John Lithgow & Geoffrey Rush here, and with Kyle Mooney from last year. As cheesy as these videos are to watch, I’m glad they keep making them to remind people how to properly sit & watch movies with no phone.

Spinal Tap II PSA

You can rewatch the official trailer for Spinal Tap II: The End Continues right here for some actual footage.

In 2002, it was deemed “culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant” by the Library of Congress, and was selected for preservation by the National Film Registry. Conceived by rockers Guest, McKean, Reiner, and Shearer, Spinal Tap II follows England’s loudest and most punctual band, as they reunite after a 15-year hiatus for one final concert. On the 40th anniversary of the original film, the sequel to the legendary rock mockumentary that put the film company on a run of success. Spinal Tap II: The End Continues is once again directed by iconic American filmmaker Rob Reiner, director of many classics like Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, A Few Good Men, The Story of Us, plus docs the original This Is Spinal Tap, I Am Your Child, and Albert Brooks: Defending My Life most recently. The screenplay is by Christopher Guest & Michael McKean & Rob Reiner & Harry Shearer. Produced by Rob Reiner, Michele Reiner and Matthew George; financed by Castle Rock Entertainment. Bleecker Street opens Reiner’s Spinal Tap II sequel in theaters nationwide on September 12th, 2025 coming up this fall. Ready to rock again?

Where, When & How to Watch – Hollywood Life

Islanders will assemble one more time on screen alongside hosts Andy Cohen and Ariana Madix. After all the drama washed up ashore earlier this summer, the season 7 cast of Love Island USA came together for the reunion special, which airs later this month.

Below, Hollywood Life has gathered all the details fans need to know on how to watch the reunion and who will be there.

Who Won Love Island USA Season 7?

The winners of the seventh season of Love Island USA were Amaya Espinal and Bryan Arenales, who took home that highly coveted $100,000 cash prize. As of now, the couple seem to be going strong, but anything could have happened between their re-entry into the real world and the reunion taping.

Bryan and Amaya ended the finale on a high note, with Bryan telling her that he “definitely wanted to leave [the Villa] letting [her] know that [he wanted] to make stuff exclusive with [them] and prioritize [them].”

For her part, Amaya gushed, “I feel like I’m flying in the sky right now. To feel so seen and validated and for people to see how powerful our connection is… And like, boy, was this a ride, here on Love Island. But this, man, I would do this ride all over again if it led me to him.”

How to Watch the Love Island USA Season 7 Reunion

Fans can tune into the Love Island USA season 7 reunion on Peacock just like how they did with all season 7 episodes.

What Time Does the Love Island USA Season 7 Reunion Come Out?

The Love Island USA season 7 reunion episode will air at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT on August 25 on Peacock.

Is Cierra Ortega in the Reunion?

Cierra Ortega said she wouldn’t be a part of the reunion special during her TikTok Q&A on July 27.

“At this time, I will not be at the reunion,” she said, adding, “I feel lighter knowing that my perspective, my thoughts and my feelings and my emotions is out there.” She also noted that sharing her story with social media followers was “the first step for [her] in moving on and beginning to close this chapter of [her] life.”

As fans recall, Cierra was booted from the island after fans found an old social media video of her using a racial slur. She apologized publicly after being released from the Villa.

However, Andy said that “everybody” showed up for the reunion, so there’s still a chance that Cierra could be in it. The Bravo king gave his Instagram followers updates from the taping on August 12 via his Instagram Stories. In one clip, Andy said, “Guys, Love Island reunions are no joke. We are on dinner break. It is 9:45. We’re going back in there soon. … This reunion — it’s good. And everybody’s here.”
