Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl: When and where to watch?

Taylor Swift is bringing her twelfth studio album to the big screen. The pop sensation’s new record, The Life of a Showgirl, drops on Friday, October 3, and she is marking the moment with a short-run film event. Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl will play in theaters nationwide the same day, giving fans just one weekend to catch it.

Taylor Swift is gearing up for the release of her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.(Scott A Garfitt/Invision/AP)

According to Harpers Bazaar, the limited engagement runs from October 3 through October 5. That is three days only – Friday through Sunday – before it disappears from theaters. Swift’s team is pitching it as part movie premiere, part album release, rolled into one experience.

Where to watch it?

AMC Theatres is at the center of the rollout. Swift already made history with them during last year’s Eras Tour concert film, and this marks the second collaboration between the star and the chain. AMC confirmed screenings will start right at showtime.

Tickets are already on sale through AMC’s website. Cinemark is also part of the launch, offering screenings in standard format as well as Cinemark XD. The XD upgrade means giant screens, wall-to-wall sound, and a more immersive setup. Both chains expect heavy demand given Swift’s past box office record.

What is inside the film

The main attraction is the world premiere of the music video for “The Fate of Ophelia,” the lead single from The Life of a Showgirl. Fans will also see behind-the-scenes footage from production, fresh lyric videos, and Swift’s personal reflections on different tracks from the album. The idea is to mix performance, process, and storytelling into one package, Harper’s Bazaar reported.

Why fans are paying attention

For Swifties, the appeal comes down to access. It is the very first look at visuals tied to the new album, all on a theater screen. Unlike The Eras Tour film, this isn’t a concert movie, but a one-off release party built for fans who want to be part of the launch weekend.

And right now, there is no streaming option on the table. If you want in, you will need a ticket and a seat at AMC or Cinemark during those three days. After October 5, it is gone.

At this point, Swift’s playbook is clear: make the album release itself into an event. And if past turnout is any clue, theaters will be packed.

FAQs:

When is Taylor Swift’s release party movie in theaters?

It runs from October 3 to October 5, 2025.

Where can I buy tickets?

Tickets are available through AMC and Cinemark’s official websites.

Will there be trailers before the movie?

No. AMC confirmed the event begins right at showtime.

Sunil Grover hilariously recreates Akshay Kumar’s anti-smoking PSA with OG Nandu, fans hail his chameleon act. Watch

As The Great India Kapil Show wraps up its third season, the finale promises to be a grand affair, graced by the Khiladi of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar. To build the hype, Netflix recently dropped a teaser of the finale episode, giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come.

A teaser showcases Sunil Grover’s spoof of a classic anti-smoking ad, with the original actor Ajay Singh Pal making a surprise appearance, delighting fans.

Sunil Grover recreates anti-smoking PSA

In the teaser, Sunil Grover impersonates Akshay Kumar in a hilarious spoof of the anti-smoking PSA that used to play in Indian theatres before every movie. But what took fans by complete surprise was the appearance of the original Nandu actor, Ajay Singh Pal, making it a full-circle moment.

For those who remember, the original PSA featured Akshay Kumar encountering a man named Nandu outside a hospital, smoking a cigarette. Akshay delivers a powerful line telling Nandu to use that cigarette money to buy sanitary pads for his wife, turning the light-hearted setup into a strong public health message. The ad ran for over six years in Indian theatres until it was discontinued by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in October 2024.

In the recreated skit, Sunil rides up on a bicycle, mirroring Akshay’s original entry, and spots Nandu waiting outside a shopping area. This time, Nandu’s wife is inside a Duty-Free store, shopping, which is the new “aurton wali bimari” (women’s illness).

Nandu tells Sunil he’s in a hurry because he needs to pee. Sunil, staying in character as Akshay, hits back with the hilarious punchline: “Herogiri su su karne mein nahi hai, balki biwi ke bags uthane mein hai” (Heroism isn’t in going for a pee, but in carrying your wife’s shopping bags).

Nandu doesn’t hold back either, responding with a frustrated, sarcastic outburst: “Kya paaj, kabhi kehte ho phu phu mat karo, ab keh rahe ho su su mat karo, arey pathri ho jaegi mujhe, aap ke chakkar mein jeeb aur jal gayi meri” (What’s this, brother? First, you said don’t puff [smoke], now you’re saying don’t pee. I’ll get kidney stones! Because of you, even my tongue and soul are burnt!)

About The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 3

Season 3 of The Kapil Sharma Show was a star-studded spectacle, featuring a dazzling lineup of celebrities from Bollywood, the music industry, and even international entertainment. The show welcomed superstars like Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, cricketers Gautam Gambhir, Rishabh Pant and Yuzvendra Chahal, to name a few. The season also saw the return of fan-favourite comedians like Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek and Kiku Sharda. Adding an international flavour, K-pop star Jackson Wang made a special appearance.

BET Sets ‘106 & Sports’ Premiere Date: Watch Teaser

by jummy84 September 19, 2025
written by jummy84

BET has set the premiere date for its new original series, 106 & Sports, a reimagining of the legendary 106 & Park brand.

Produced by Fulwell Entertainment’s SpringHill and hosted by Cam Newton and Ashley Nicole Moss, 106 & Sports premieres on Wednesday, October 15, on BET with episodes streaming the following day on BET+.

The network describes the series as a “fresh countdown highlighting sports, music, and entertainment like never before,” calling it the “definitive home for culturally-driven sports commentary.”

“When I think about ‘106 & Park,’ I remember how it was a voice for the culture. It gave artists and fans a place to connect. Now, we’re doing the same thing for sports,” Newton said in a statement. “’106 & Sports’ is where you’ll get the real talk, the authentic insights, and the kind of conversations you won’t find anywhere else. I’m excited to team up with Ashley and BET to build something special, something that honors that legacy while creating a new one.”

Moss added, “I know how much this iconic brand means to so many people, including myself. I want everyone to know how much of an honor it is to be part of this amazing culture, and my goal is to resonate that with every show. My hope is for people to feel a connection with ‘106 & Sports’ in the same way they did with ‘106 & Park.’”

Tiffany Lea Williams, Executive Vice President of Unscripted Programming and Development at BET Media Group, considers the series to be an “exciting evolution of BET’s legacy” as it reimagines “the cultural heartbeat of ‘106 & Park’ through the lens of sports.”

The first 10 episodes mark the first half of its debut season. New episodes will drop every Wednesday until December 17. Watch the official teaser above.

Watch ‘The Diplomat’ Season 3 Trailer: Allison Janney as President

by jummy84 September 18, 2025
written by jummy84

Tensions ratchet up in the latest official trailer for the third season of Netflix‘s The Diplomat, as viewers eagerly await the Oct. 16 premiere of the next set of episodes.

Kicking off with what looks like the immediate aftermath of President Rayburn (Michael McKean) dying at the end of season two, the preview sees staffers informed of his death and that the commander-in-chief was on the phone with former ambassador Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell) when he died.

Vice President Grace Penn (Allison Janney) soon learns that Hal was telling her boss that he had a “rogue deputy,” as Hal puts it, alluding to Grace’s involvement with the British warship attack that launched the series.

Hal and his U.K. ambassador wife, Kate (Keri Russell), then consider the risks of Grace as a “terribly flawed” president and the possibility of Kate keeping an eye on her in the White House, but Kate seems uninterested in the “opportunity” that Grace’s presidency presents.

“I’m not walking around in the middle of a constitutional crisis with a résumé stapled to my forehead,” Kate says at one point.

And soon the international stakes grow higher as viewers see British Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison (David Gyasi) warning Kate about Prime Minister Nicol Trowbridge (Rory Kinnear) “concealing explosive information on [her] behalf,” saying he will extract “10 pounds of flesh.”

And Kate declares that the president, seemingly Grace, is “about to do something that is apocalyptically dumb” as Hal and Grace consider something “catastrophic” possibly “coming out.”

The trailer, offering the most substantive look at the season yet, then suggests larger tensions between the U.S. and the U.K. as a voiceover informs viewers of the Pentagon “drawing up battle plans for war with the U.K.”

Kate is shown saying, “I am doing everything I can, but there is a limit.” Meanwhile, Trowbridge declares, “I expected more from you.”

And, leaving viewers in suspense, Nana Mensah’s chief of staff Billie advises someone, “You should get a lawyer.”

The trailer and key art that Netflix released today tease that “no alliance lasts forever.”

After a shorter, six-episode second season, The Diplomat‘s third season will feature eight episodes, which Netflix describes as follows: “In season three of The Diplomat, Ambassador Kate Wyler lives the particular nightmare that is getting what you want. She just accused Vice President Grace Penn of hatching a terrorist plot and admitted she’s after the VP’s job. But now the president is dead, Kate’s husband Hal may have inadvertently killed him, and Grace Penn is leader of the free world. None of this slows Hal’s campaign to land Kate the vice presidency. Kate steps into a role she never wanted, with a freedom she never expected, an increasingly complicated friendship with Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison (Gyasi), and an unnerving bond with first gentleman Todd Penn (Bradley Whitford).”

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter about the end of season two and beginning of season three, Sewell teased that things soon get complicated.

“The end of season two is one thing but very quickly even more extraordinary things happen,” he told THR before the season two premiere, as season three was already in production, last fall. “Allison Janney coming in, the dynamics of the story after what happens at the end of season two really gives us some extraordinary things. Also it changes dynamics that might have been in danger of playing out. And it’s getting really complex.”

The Diplomat has already been renewed for a fourth season at Netflix.

Debora Cahn, who created the show, serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Russell, Janice Williams, Alex Graves, Peter Noah and Eli Attie.

The cast includes Ali Ahn, Ato Essandoh, Celia Imrie and Miguel Sandoval.

How to Watch ‘One Battle After Another’ in VistaVision

by jummy84 September 18, 2025
written by jummy84

When the rise of television threatened movie attendance in the 1950s, Hollywood responded by introducing several new exhibition formats designed to bring people back to theaters with the promise of widescreen images and stereophonic sound. CinemaScope, Cinerama, and VistaVision were just a few of these processes, which dazzled audiences and yielded films like “The Robe,” “The Bridge on the River Kwai,” and “Around the World in 80 Days,” attracting customers in droves.

Now, as exhibitors struggle with the rise of streaming and declining theater attendance, one of America’s greatest living filmmakers has revived one of the greatest of all widescreen formats, giving today’s audiences the same reason to get off their couches that Alfred Hitchcock, Michael Curtiz, and other premier directors of their era gave in the 1950s. The glorious return of VistaVision began last year when Brady Corbet shot “The Brutalist” in the format and exhibited the film in several venues in 70mm, a gauge that approximates VistaVision’s high resolution — but that was only the beginning.

'Arco'

Now, director Paul Thomas Anderson has not only filmed but is releasing “One Battle After Another” in VistaVision, with a handful of venues projecting the movie in a format that hasn’t been seen by audiences of a new release film since Marlon Brando’s “One-Eyed Jacks” in 1961. (Lucky viewers at this year’s TCM Film Festival did get to see revivals of “We’re No Angels” and “Gunfight at the O.K. Corral” in true VistaVision.)

Why is that important? And what does it mean for audiences, filmmakers, and projectionists? Let’s break it down.

What made VistaVision special compared to rival formats like CinemaScope was its larger negative — around twice the size of a typical 35mm film frame, as the film was run through the camera horizontally rather than vertically. As Margaret Bodde, who works with Martin Scorsese’s Film Foundation, told IndieWire, “With CinemaScope, you have a four-perf negative. VistaVision is eight-perf, so you’re doubling the size of the image. It just has a superior image quality.”

In spite of that superior quality, VistaVision ultimately became more or less obsolete for feature film production, though it continued to be used extensively for special effects work on blockbusters like the original “Star Wars,” “Back to the Future,” and “Jurassic Park.” “One Battle After Another” was shot using a combination of VistaVision and Super 35, and will be released in no fewer than seven formats. This has led to intense excitement among cinephiles — and no small amount of misinformation.

In one example, a fan-created graphic recently took off on social media and led to widespread confusion over aspect ratios of the various exhibition formats. (Among other things, it incorrectly stated that the movie would be released in a 2.20:1 aspect ratio in 70mm.) To clarify what formats “One Battle After Another” will be presented in, their technical specs, and where to see them, IndieWire reached out to the source: Paul Thomas Anderson.

Anderson referred us to three members of his post-production team: editor Andy Jurgensen, post-production supervisor Erica Frauman, and associate editor Jay Trautman, all of whom dealt with the complexities of VistaVision and the movie’s varied release prints throughout the post-production process. Together, they addressed several important questions related to the different ways you can watch “One Battle After Another” when it opens in theaters on September 26.

The below interview condenses and combines responses from Jurgensen, Frauman, and Trautman on the specifics of formats for seeing “One Battle After Another.”

What Are the Release Formats for “One Battle After Another,” Their Aspect Ratios, and Sound Specs?

Screenshot

What Aspect Ratio Was the Movie Originally Shot in?

The film was shot using a combination of VistaVision (8-perf) and Super 35 (4-perf) formats. (“Perf” referring to the perforations that run alongside or — depending on the format — above and below the image so that the celluloid can be pulled through the projector.) Both offer a tall enough negative to accommodate the full IMAX 1.43:1 aspect ratio, though the image can be cropped top and bottom to fit the 1.90:1 IMAX or standard 1.85:1 aspect ratios. Camera operator Colin Anderson used ground glass marked with framelines for both 1.85:1 and 1.43:1 compositions to ensure flexibility in framing.

When the opportunity for special VistaVision screenings arose, Paul Thomas Anderson chose to present the film in the full 1.50:1 VistaVision frame, an aspect ratio very close to IMAX’s 1.43:1. The 5-perf 70mm version is presented in 1.85:1, pillarboxed within a 2.20:1 frame, while standard DCPs are also formatted in 1.85:1.

How Do the Different Release Formats Complicate the Post Process?

We often say that each release format offers its own unique experience of the film. In the photochemical world, it’s impossible to make all formats look exactly the same!

Because the film was shot with both VistaVision and Super 35mm cameras, we had to navigate not only multiple release formats but also multiple capture formats. If we were using the digital intermediate process that nearly every modern film uses, we would just scan all of the negative and resize it in a computer. However, we cut and splice the camera negative and print photochemically. This means that we had to figure out how to create the VistaVision negative from our Super 35mm shots and our digital visual effects. We started testing these processes over two years ago. In the end, FotoKem configured both an optical printer and a digital film recorder specifically for VistaVision, allowing us to create all the necessary elements to assemble a complete VistaVision negative and produce a VistaVision release print.

Does Paul Thomas Anderson Have a Preferred Format?

Paul has noted that the VistaVision presentation is the closest to the film’s intended look, as it’s struck directly from the VistaVision cut negative. There are only four of these special screening venues currently scheduled — in Los Angeles, New York, Boston, and London.

That said, we always knew there would be an IMAX release, so from the beginning, the 1.43:1 and 1.90:1 IMAX presentations (both film and digital) were intended to be the most immersive. This is the first narrative feature film to be presented entirely in IMAX’s 1.43:1 aspect ratio (with no jumping between aspect ratios). The 70mm (5-perf) version is an optical blow-up from the VistaVision-cut negative. It has slightly more grain and contrast, and its 1.85:1 aspect ratio matches the non-IMAX DCP presentations.

What Does It Really Mean to Capture and Project in True VistaVision?

Unlike traditional 35mm film, which runs vertically through the camera gate, VistaVision uses a horizontal feed. This allows the image to be recorded on a frame that is twice the size of a standard 4-perf 35mm frame, resulting in a finer-grained negative with improved image quality.

Just like the cameras, VistaVision projectors must also run the film horizontally. Very few of these projectors still exist today. According to VistaVision expert Charlotte Barker, “It’s been exactly 70 years since VistaVision projectors were first installed for commercial use, debuting with Paramount’s ‘Strategic Air Command’ in 1955. Back then, seven U.S. theaters were outfitted with VistaVision projectors, custom 2-foot-deep curvilinear screens, and special aperture plates. ‘One Battle After Another’ will echo this historic rollout next week at The Vista in Los Angeles, Regal Union Square 17 in New York, Coolidge Corner Theater in Boston, and Odeon Leicester Square in London.”

Warner Bros. refurbished two Ballantyne VistaVision projectors for use in Los Angeles and New York; Barry Wright (Bell Theatre Services) refreshed their VistaVision projector in London. Boston Light & Sound had previously refurbished two projectors supplied by the George Eastman Museum for the TCM Festival in April of 2025; these will be used in Boston. Each Ballantyne projector is equipped with DTS readers to synchronize audio and fitted with custom-built platters capable of running the entire two-hour, 40-minute film on a single reel. The Boston location will utilize two projectors and play reel-to-reel. Projectionists at each location are receiving specialized training to operate the equipment.

Projecting in VistaVision allows prints made directly from the original cut negative to be shown to an audience. This hasn’t been possible for over 60 years. Historically, footage shot on VistaVision had to be converted to another format for exhibition. As far as we know, this is the first new release feature film to be projected from true VistaVision prints since “One-Eyed Jacks” in 1961.

“Where the film business gets into trouble is when it tries to run art like a business. The fact is – art will survive anything…” The entire film industry and so many others are dealing with the profound sadness this week from losing the icon of cinema Robert Redford – who passed away on Tuesday at age 89. Aside from his beloved performances and the many films he directed, Redford’s greatest impact on cinema is perhaps the Sundance Film Festival and Sundance Institute. The original Utah/US Film Festival took place in 1978 (before becoming the “Sundance Film Festival” in 1991) and the Sundance Institute was later founded in 1980 by Redford himself – with the dream of inspiring / encouraging artists to develop their filmmaking skills outside of the pressure of Hollywood and of success / failure. It wasn’t just the initiative to create the institute and the festival, it was his inspirational idea behind starting them, the desire to change cinema by giving indie films & filmmakers a chance to thrive and potentially be noticed by the industry and beyond. The Sundance Institute released this heartfelt 7-min video tribute to Redford, focusing on his work creating the Sundance Labs and his wisdom in running them with the goal of diversity and inclusion and innovation.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our founder and friend Robert Redford. Bob’s vision of a space and a platform for independent voices launched a movement that, over four decades later, has inspired generations of artists and redefined cinema in the U.S. and around the world. Beyond his enormous contributions to culture at large, we will miss his generosity, clarity of purpose, curiosity, rebellious spirit, and his love for the creative process. We are humbled to be among the stewards of his remarkable legacy, which will continue to guide the Institute in perpetuity. –Sundance Film Festival

Remembering Robert Redford Tribute

Remembering Robert Redford Tribute

This video was posted on the Sundance Institute’s official YouTube page. His words are still so powerful and so inspiring – and I believe his wisdom and his passion will continue to impact cinema for decades to come. He changed so many lives & filmmaking forever. The Sundance Institute also released a touching message after his death: “Bob’s vision launched a movement that, over four decades later, has inspired generations of artists and redefined cinema in the U.S. and around the world. The vibrant storytelling landscape we cherish today, both as artists and audiences, is unimaginable without his passionate drive and principled leadership. Beyond Bob’s enormous contributions to culture at large, we will miss his generosity, clarity of purpose, curiosity, rebellious spirit, and his love for the creative process. We are humbled to be among the stewards of his remarkable legacy, which will continue to guide the Institute in perpetuity. As we look to the future, we are particularly grateful for the inspiring group of people who make up the Sundance Institute community. Thank you for your participation in our work that carries on Bob’s mission and vision.” What he says about why cinema & storytelling matter is as profound as ever. May Bob always be our spiritual guide…

Depeche Mode have revealed the official trailer for their new concert film, Depeche Mode: M.

Arriving in limited theaters beginning October 28th, the film centers on three Depeche Mode shows at Mexico City’s Foro Sol in 2023. The band was fresh off the release of their 15th album Memento Mori, while also mourning the death of founding member Andy Fletcher. The film depicts Dave Gahan, Martin Gore, and their backing band running through their setlist to three sold-out, passionate crowds, while director Fernando Frías combines footage exploring Mexican culture, tradition, and their relationship to death.

“At its core, our new film ‘M’ is about the deep connection between music, culture, and people — and Fernando Frías, who directed and conceived the film, did a beautiful job telling that story that through the lens of Mexican culture and our shows in Mexico City,” said Dave Gahan in a press release.
