“What are the odds of that, right? We deeply apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused.” Wow. Another remarkably clever, ingeniously shot new short film from filmmaker Jon Walkup. After recently premiering at a film festival, the 5-minute short is now available online to watch below. A Minute on Each Side is about James making a microwave burrito for dinner. But there is a bit more to it than that… Here’s the intro: A man’s life falls apart in the time it takes to microwave a burrito. Starring Jake Lewis as James, and director Jon Walkup as the voice on the other end of the phone. It’s also the winner of an Audience Award from the 2025 Nashville Film Festival. Walkup also produced a few other worth watching shorts The Cowboy & The Samurai and Such Good Friends which we’ve featured, and he directed Big Fun. He’s getting better and better with every new film he makes. And this is another impressive dark comedy – watch below.

A Minute on Each Side - Short Film

Thanks to Jon for the tip on this film debuting online. Brief intro via YouTube: “In this comedy-thriller, a man’s life falls apart in real time while a frozen burrito cooks in the microwave. Shot in a single five-minute take from inside the microwave, the film turns an everyday convenience into a front-row seat to a personal nightmare.” A Minute on Each Side is directed by up-and-coming indie filmmaker Jon Walkup, director of many other short films & music videos (producer on The Cowboy & The Samurai, Such Good Friends), as well as his first feature Big Fun a few years ago. You can also follow him on IG @jonwalkup. Written by Jon Walkup & Bri Klaproth. Produced by Bri Klaproth, Rachel Rambaldi, Jon Walkup. With cinematography by Cooper Shine. This just premiered at the 2025 Nashville Film Festival in their “Graveyard Shorts” section. For more info on the film, visit YouTube. To enjoy more shorts (including animation), click here. Watch Sam Smith Perform ‘Ain’t No Sunshine,’ ‘To Be Free’ on ‘Colbert’

by jummy84 October 2, 2025
written by jummy84

The musician will kick off their To Be Free residency at New York City’s Warsaw this month

Sam Smith appeared on The Late Show to showcase two songs, a cover Bill Withers 1971 classic, “Ain’t No Sunshine” and their own single “To Be Free.” Smith performed his rendition of “Ain’t No Sunshine” with the help of two guitarists, giving the iconic song a stripped down approach.

For the emotional “To Be Free,” which Smith dropped over the summer, Smith was joined by a sole musician on stage and illuminated from behind. A chorus of backup singers then brought in their voices to accompany them.

Smith released “To Be Free” in July after temporarily shelving the song, written during the making of their fourth studio album, Gloria. Smith didn’t believe it was a fit for the record, but wanted to share it with fans later. It features TwoCity Chorus, a 22-piece choir helmed by Ant Clemons and Brandon Pain.

Trending Stories

“It was created during a time in my life where I became free within myself,” Smith said in a statement. “I’ve never had a recording experience like I did making this song. It’s one vocal and guitar take from start to finish—one live performance of me and my friend Simon Aldred in a pure state of music and expression.”

The music video for “To Be Free” was filmed at Warsaw, one of Brooklyn’s oldest venues. In October, Smith will spend 12 nights performing in the same space for the To Be Free: New York City residency. The run of live shows kicks off on Oct. 8 and extends through Oct. 31. Smith will then take the residency to the Castro Theatre in San Francisco for a run of eight shows next February.

The guest list included celebs like Priyanka Chopra, Nita Ambani, Isha Ambani, Tamannaah Bhatia, Manushi Chhillar, Khushi Kapoor, and others. Here’s a look at the best-dressed celebrities:

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra dazzled at the event in a dreamy ivory gown featuring a plunging boat neckline in a structural, pleated design. The form-fitted corset bodice, a pleated mini-length skirt, a see-through tulle overlay cascading down her legs, and a floor-sweeping train add a feminine elegance to her ensemble. She paired the look with a stunning diamond necklace adorned with a massive ruby.

Tamannaah Bhatia

Tamannaah served a masterclass in sensual elegance at the Bvlgari exhibition in a baby pink gown featuring a strapless silhouette, a plunging neckline, a corseted bodice, a large bow on the front, and a figure-hugging skirt. She paired the ensemble with matching heels, a Bvlgari Serpenti bow necklace, and diamond earrings. A top knot and strawberry, blush makeup added a Hollywood starlet vibe to her look for the night.

Nita Ambani and Isha Ambani

While Nita Ambani wore a silk pacharangi saree with a Banarasi embroidery border to the exhibition, Isha dazzled in a form-fitted black corset gown. They both wore Bvlgari jewels with their ensembles. However, it was Isha’s yellow diamond ring from mom’s collection that stole the show. Nita Ambani had bought the Bvlgari ring 25 years ago in New York.

Keerthy Suresh

Keerthy Suresh dazzled the red carpet at the Bvlgari Serpenti Infinito Exhibit in an elegant black-and-white gown. It features a strapless design and a flowy skirt, completed with a matching black stole draped over the arms. A Serpenti rose gold necklace, a matching bracelet, rings, side-parted wavy tresses, and striking dewy makeup rounded off the look.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu

Samanth chose an indigo blue gown featuring scalloped cut-outs on the front, a sleeveless design, and a figure-hugging silhouette for the exhibition. She wore the dress with loose tresses, a Serpenti necklace, and minimal makeup.

Sara Tendulkar

Like Samantha, Sara Tendulkar also chose a blue gown. However, her ensemble comes with full-length sleeves, a gathered design on the front, a flowy skirt, a skin-tight bodice, and a floor-length hem. She paired the ensemble with Bvlgari bracelet and matching diamond earrings.

The new Guillermo del Toro directorial is about an egoistic yet brilliant scientist, Victor von Frankenstein, played by Oscar Isaac, who brings a dangerous monster, played by Jacob Elordi, to life during an experiment. His daring move, however, causes a havoc-like situation for the creator, as well as the world. The trailer gives the audience a deeper look into Elordi’s character as he transforms into a resurrected monster.

The official synopsis of the movie reads, “Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro reimagines Mary Shelley’s classic tale of a brilliant scientist and the creature his monstrous ambition brings to life.”

As for Frankenstein’s run at the film festivals, the director, along with his team, premiered the cinematic piece at the Venice Film Festival, the Telluride Film Festival, and the Toronto Film Festival. The film was announced to be the runner-up at the TIFF for the fest’s coveted People’s Choice Award.

The group played their first show together on Saturday (September 27) at Zen West in Baltimore.

The S.E.T., which stands for ‘The Self Evident Truth’, opened for hardcore veterans Death Threat. Footage of the gig appeared soon after on Instagram as well as Reddit, with Ebert seen shredding for the new hardcore band.

The S.E.T. will next play the Baltimore Soundstage on January 31 as part of the 2026 edition of Disturbin’ the Peace festival, which will be headlined by Hatebreed.

Back in 2022, Turnstile announced they were parting ways with guitarist Brady Ebert after 12 years together.

The outfit shared the news in an Instagram story, writing: “We are deeply grateful for our time together. Our love for him continues and we wish him nothing but the best moving forward.”

Ebert was one of the group’s founding members, alongside vocalist Brendan Yates. They started the band in 2010, joined by bassist and vocalist Franz Lyons, drummer Daniel Fang and guitarist Sean Cullen (who left in 2015 and was replaced by Pat McCrory). He played on three of the band’s studio albums — 2016’s ‘Nonstop Feeling’, 2018’s ‘Time & Space’ and 2021’s ‘Glow On’.

Turnstile’s US tour kicked off on September 15 in Nashville, where they brought out Paramore’s Hayley Williams for a duet of ‘Seein’ Stars’. They will play around the country for the rest of the autumn, with support to come from SPEED, Jane Remover, Mannequin Pussy, Blood Orange, and Amyl & The Sniffers. See more information about the tour here and find any remaining tickets here.

The band’s latest album is ‘Never Enough’, which received a glowing five-star review from NME, and was also named as one of our best albums of 2025 so far.

Speaking to NME in June, drummer Daniel Fang says the success of 2021’s ‘Glow On’ didn’t create any pressure when making its follow-up. “I don’t know how anyone would have time or the bandwidth to manage outside expectations,” he said. “I don’t think any of us can even fathom that, because there’s an infinite well within everyone [in the band]… I don’t understand how anyone could be guided by that when there’s so much else to work off of.”

They played an acclaimed, moshpit-heavy Glastonbury 2025 set, and will embark on a UK and European tour, which kicks off in Dublin on October 31. See the full list of dates here and find tickets here.

In a five-star review of the Glastonbury set, NME wrote: “This set is what Turnstile are all about – there’s no needless chatter and no projections behind them illustrating what their songs are meant to symbolise. Instead, it simply boils down to the sheer intensity and precision with which they deliver each of their 15 tracks, and the unwavering loyalty they get in return. Get ready for Turnstile to dominate this summer – and beyond.”

Meanwhile, last week, an investigation was launched after a sheriff’s deputy appeared to pepper spray a Turnstile fan in Richmond.

written by jummy84

Sir Paul McCartney officially kicked off his first North American tour in three years with a pair of shows in California over the last few days. His Friday night gig at the Santa Barbra Bowl served as a warm-up of sorts, as he played an abbreviated setlist to a relatively intimate crowd. The tour — featuring its full 35-song setlist — continued on Monday night at Acrisure Arena in Thousand Palms, California. At both shows, McCartney kicked off the night by performing “Help!” — marking the first time he has played The Beatles song live in 35 years. He also appeared to play the song using the Höfner bass he was recently reunited with after 50 years.

Because McCartney’s Santa Barbara Bowl concert enforced a no-phone policy, the first live footage of “Help!” comes instead from his Acrisure Arena show. Watch the fan-shot video below, along with more highlights from the night and the full setlist.

Rani’s red silk saree features intricate gold accents, including a detailed gold brocade embroidery on the pallu, gold scalloped lace borders, and gold sequin embroidery done in vertical lines. She wore the six yards in traditional style, letting the pallu fall from her shoulder in a floor-sweeping length.

A matching red blouse featuring a plunging V-neckline, quarter-length sleeves, gold embroidery on sleeves, and a cropped hem rounded off the ensemble. For accessories, she wore gold jhumkis, a choiker necklace, bangles, and rings. A sleek top knot, a red bindi, winged eyeliner, rouge-tinted cheeks, and a dewy base rounded off the glam.

The rap group showcased a medley of hits as the late-night show headed to Brooklyn

Public Enemy appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to perform a medley of “Don’t Believe the Hype,” “The Hits Just Keep on Comin’,” and “Fight the Power.”

As the rap group took the stage at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, where Jimmy Kimmel is hosting a week of shows, the musicians gave a nod to the host’s recent struggle with the FCC and Donald Trump.

Flavor Flav shouted, “Hey yo Jimmy Kimmel, we are Public Enemy and I just want you to know that Public Enemy always got ya back.” He then turned around to display the words “Fight the Power” on his jacket before launching into 1988 hit “Don’t Believe the Hype.” The group concluded their medley with “Fight the Power,” originally written for Spike Lee’s 1989 film Do the Right Thing.

Public Enemy’s most recent LP, Black Sky Over the Projects: Apartment 2025, dropped in June. The group released it as a surprise via Bandcamp. “This album is a give back to all of our fans with gratitude and appreciation,” Chuck D said of the effort. Flavor Flav added, “We’re bringing our beats to the world on this tour and with this album. So if you can’t get yourself to the stadiums and the festivals, then these new tracks are for you to get down to at home.”

Public Enemy has been touring throughout the summer and fall, with a few more dates scheduled. The band will perform at Reggae Rise Up in Las Vegas on Oct. 4 and Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California, on Nov. 14.
