Dionne Warwick doesn’t hold her tongue—and her latest post proves it once again. After undergoing surgery, the legendary singer took to X to let the people know she’s on the hunt for some good streaming recommendations to watch as she recovers. But there’s just one that Auntie immediately shut down: ‘Emily in Paris.’

Dionne Warwick Doesn’t Watch Just Anything!

Dionne Warwick hopped on social media recently to ask for movie and show recommendations while she recovers from emergency leg surgery—but made it very clear one show won’t be making the cut. The shade was light, but it definitely landed. While she didn’t go into detail about the procedure, fans are sending love and well-wishes for a smooth recovery. As for ‘Emily in Paris?’ Dionne didn’t spill the tea on why it’s a no for her, but one thing about Ms. Warwick? She’s gonna keep it cute, classy, and just the right amount of petty. Now somebody send Auntie some bangers to binge!

“As most of you may know, I’ve had to cancel a few shows due to emergency leg surgery. I’m doing okay, do not worry! However, I need some show/movie recommendations while on the mend. Not Emily in Paris. Love you all,” the icon shared to X.

Social Media Is Cuttin’ UP!

Fans ran to The Shade Room’s comment section after Dionne Warwick’s post, calling her the unexpected comedy queen we didn’t know we needed. Some joked that someone needs to take her phone ASAP, while others rushed to defend ‘Emily in Paris,’ claiming it’s their show and Auntie might’ve gone too far! Either way, the internet is eating it up—and Dionne’s unfiltered posts continue to be the gift that keeps on giving.

One Instagram user @_thiskellss._ said, “Honey, I love Emily in Paris that is one of my favorite shows“

This Instagram user @_.haya_honor added, “Emily in Paris was so good lol Virgin River as a honorable mention lol“

And, Instagram user @hiimnanii wrote, “Mind you she 84 and still on twitter throwing shade 😂😂😂”

Then, Instagram user @fitts2458 shared, “She is hilarious!!!! I’m so glad they let her use the internet. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂”

Meanwhile, Instagram user @_kayyart commented, “I like Emily In Paris 😂”

Finally, Instagram user @pytleeleeg said, “I’ve never seen or heard her say anything positive at that old age. SMH.“

Dionne Warwick Stay Steppin’ On Necks

The internet was gagged, back in May, when Ms. Dionne Warwick herself popped out on X to clear something up! A viral tweet from [Darius Amore] had folks thinking she was out here hitting the DC Pride stage in a sparkly silver dress, blue coat, and knee-high boots—very much giving diva energy. The post read, “DC Pride booking Dionne Warwick for Pride is kind of iconic idk,” with Dionne’s classic hit ‘Walk On By’ playing over the clip. The crowd was eating it UP, and to be fair, LeToya Luckett‘s short blonde bob had folks doing a double take—it was giving signature Dionne, okay! But Auntie said hold up, let’s not get it twisted!

Warwick Davis Returns to ‘Harry Potter’ in New HBO TV Series

HBO‘s upcoming Harry Potter TV series has cast a familiar face to play Hogwarts Professor Filius Flitwick.

Warwick Davis, who played Flitwick in the original Harry Potter film series, will reprise the role for the TV series, which will debut on HBO and HBO Max in 2027.

Davis is the only actor (so far) to play the same role on the TV reboot as in the original films. His return to the franchise was announced as part of the annual Back to Hogwarts event, which is held each Sept. 1 and celebrates the franchise.

In addition to Davis, HBO also announced castings for seven other roles in the upcoming series:

  • Hogwarts students: Elijah Oshin as Dean Thomas, Finn Stephens as Vincent Crabbe and William Nash as Gregory Goyle
  • Hogwarts staff: Sirine Saba as Professor Pomona Sprout, Richard Durden as Professor Cuthbert Binns, and Bríd Brennan as Madam Poppy Pomfrey
  • Gringotts: Leigh Gill as Griphook

HBO has been active in casting the show over the summer, starting with the new actors playing Harry, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, with John Lithgow playing Dumbledore, Janet McTeer playing Professor Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu playing Professor Severus Snape and Nick Frost playing Hagrid, among other roles.

You can see the full cast list so far here.

The new Harry Potter series is in production now and will take a more expansive approach to author J.K. Rowling’s original book series, delving into storylines that weren’t able to be included in the films. While the cast is new, the inclusion of Davis as the Hogwarts charms professor provides some connective tissue between the original film franchise and the upcoming series.

Davis also portrayed Griphook in the film franchise but is not returning for the role in the TV series. The actor has also appeared in the Star Wars and Leprechaun franchises as well as the title character in Willow.

The series is being written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner. Mark Mylod will executive produce and direct multiple episodes of the series for HBO in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television. The series is executive produced by Rowling, Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV, and David Heyman of Heyday Films.

Warwick Davis to Reprise Filius Flitwick in HBO’s Harry Potter TV Reboot

Original Harry Potter director Chris Columbus may not see the point of HBO’s upcoming reboot series, but cast member Warwick Davis appears to disagree. Davis, who portrayed Professor Filius Flitwick in all eight films, is set to reprise the role in the new TV series, which is currently in production and scheduled to debut in 2027.

Davis is the first principal member from the films confirmed to appear in HBO’s TV reboot. He joins a cast that includes Dominic McLaughlin in the titular role, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger,  John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.

Warwick Davis to reprise one of his ‘Harry Potter’ roles in HBO reboot series

Warwick Davis has been confirmed as part of the cast for the Harry Potter television series, reprising one of the same roles he had in the films.

Davis has been revealed as the first actor from the original film franchise – based on the J.K. Rowling book series – to be taking part in the forthcoming series made for HBO.

In the show, which is expected to arrive on screens in 2027, Davis will once again be taking on the role of Professor Filius Flitwick. In the films, he also played the character Griphook – a goblin employed at the Gringotts Wizarding Bank – however, this role in the series will be played by Leigh Gill.

The news was announced as part of the Back To Hogwarts celebration today (September 1), and also saw other new members of the cast revealed for the first time.

These, as shared by Deadline, included the role of Dean Thomas, a student at Hogwarts who was part of the Gryffindor House, and those of Slytherin students Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle. Thomas will be played by Elijah Oshin, and Crabbe and Goyle will be played by Finn Stephens and William Nash, respectively.

Also confirmed is Sirine Saba as Professor Pomona Sprout (played by Miriam Margolyes in the films), Richard Durden as Professor Cuthbert Binns, and Bríd Brennan as Madam Poppy Pomfrey. Binns is the ghost of a teacher who continues to teach at Hogwarts, and featured in the J.K. Rowling books but not in the film series. Pomfrey is a nurse who was played by Gemma Jones in the movies.

Earlier this year, other members of the cast were revealed, and it was reported that over 32,000 children auditioned for the three lead roles – Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley.

In May, it was confirmed that Dominic McLaughlin would be playing Harry, Arabella Stanton will portray Hermione, and Alastair Stout will take on the role of Ron.

Before then, it was reported that John Lithgow would play the role of Albus Dumbledore. HBO later confirmed the casting, and also announced Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.

Others in the cast include Luke Thallon as Professor Quirinus Quirrell, Paul Whitehouse as caretaker Argus Filch, Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge, Harry’s aunt and uncle Petunia and Vernon Dursley depicted by Bel Powley and Daniel Rigby, Draco Malfoy being played by Lox Pratt, and his father, Lucius, brought to life by Johnny Flynn. Check out the full cast so far here.

Since the series was announced, an actor from the original films, Jason Isaacs, has called out “racist” critics of Paapa Essiedu’s casting as Severus Snape in the show, and Chris Columbus, who directed the first two films, has criticised the look of the series, questioning why it needs to be made.
