Alex Warren is hitting the road on his first arena tour in the United States and Canada — with Jennifer Aniston’s approval. Aniston portrays a judge in a comedic sketch promoting Warren’s upcoming concert trek, the Little Orphan Alex Live Tour.

Warren — who just received a Grammy nomination for best new artist — appears in court in a short video premiering alongside an announcement of new tour dates on Friday (Nov. 14); his co-stars include Aniston, Max Greenfield and a child acting as a particularly entitled version of little orphan Annie. The clip is a continuation of a bit he started when announcing the European leg of the tour.

“You are here today because little orphan Annie is suing you, preventing your U.S. tour from happening,” Judge Aniston says to Warren in the scene’s opening, which then has a young redhead going by “Annie” accusing “that little b—-” (Warren) of “stealing my whole brand.”

“I can’t control the fact that both my parents are dead,” Warren says.

Not to worry — the tour will go on! Parodying a dramatic twist, Greenfield strolls in to reveal some pertinent information that’s in favor of Warren’s defense.

“MY FIRST ARENA TOUR!!! presale wednesday and general sale next friday at 10am… see you soon,” Warren wrote in an Instagram post that features the promo clip.

Warren’s 2026 tour begins at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on May 25 and runs through July 15, when he’ll take the stage at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

Ticket presales for Verizon customers and for Citi cardmembers both launch at 10 a.m. local time on Tuesday, Nov. 18 for select shows. For the Verizon presale, more information is available in the MyAccess section of the My Verizon app, or can be found here. For details on the Citi presale, visit the Citi Entertainment website here. (Citi is the official card of the Alex Warren Presents: Little Orphan Alex Live Tour.)

There will be an artist presale on Wednesday, Nov. 19. Fans should register in advance here for access to this presale, and set an alert for 10 a.m. local time to get tickets. VIP packages will be available at this time.

In partnership with PLUS1, Warren is giving $1 from every ticket sold to Camp Kesem, which provides free camp and programs to children whose parents are fighting cancer.

Warren’s debut album, You’ll Be Alright, Kid, reached No. 5 and charted in the top 10 on the Billboard 200 for 13 nonconsecutive weeks this year. The set features his Hot 100 No. 1 hit “Ordinary,” plus his singles “Eternity,” “Bloodline” featuring Jelly Roll, “On My Mind” featuring Rosé and “Burning Down” with Joe Jonas.

More information on purchasing tickets can be found on Warren’s official website.

David Letterman Gets Poignant Inducting Warren Zevon Into Rock Hall

by jummy84 November 9, 2025
written by jummy84

David Letterman, who in 2002 hosted Warren Zevon‘s final television appearance before his death, paid tribute to his friend Saturday night with a lengthy induction speech at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame that lasted several times as long as the musical salute by the Killers that followed. The former late-night host mixed werewolf jokes with a recollection of breaking down in tears at the end of his final encounter with Zevon.

Letterman told the story of having Zevon on his program shortly after the rocker was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and given only months to live. It was there that Zevon issued his famous “Enjoy every sandwich” advice, and Letterman spoke of following the singer-songwriter to his dressing room. There, he said, Zevon handed him the electric guitar he had used in his many appearances on the show, saying, “Take care of this for me.” “I know what’s supposed to happen now,” Letterman said, “and sure as hell, it did happen. I started to sob uncontrollably.”

Letterman stood beside the guitar in question and said, “For 22 years, I have taken care of the guitar. … By God, tonight it’s going back to work.” To Dave Keuning, lead guitarist of the Killers, he said, “It’s all yours, sir.” And at that point, it was left to the Killers — with special guest Waddy Wachtel, who played guitar on most of Zevon’s most famous records — to close the tribute out with their version of one of the honoree’s signature songs, “Lawyers, Guns and Money.”

It was only a one-song tribute, and his most famous song, “Werewolves of London,” did not factor into it — save for a couple of “Ah-oooh!” phrasings that Brandon Flowers worked in near the end of “Lawyers” as a semi-subtle interpolation.

Read the entire text of Letterman’s speech, following:

“I’m Dave ‘They Call Me the Breeze’ Letterman. I mean, honest to God. How cool is this, folks? How can you not feel a little let down after Salt-N-Pepa? I don’t blame you. Let’s wrap the show up and go home. Now, I can’t tell you how much fun this is for me, one, to just be out of the house, but two, to be here. And I want to thank the people who invited me to be part of this, to represent Warren Zevon, to represent his family, and to represent the people who love Warren’s music.Thank you very much for that.

“About a week ago, I talked to Warren’s son, Jordan, and I said, ‘Jordan, first of all, I’m honored beyond belief to be part of this, and thank you again. Are there things you would like me to mention that particular night?’ And Jordan said, ‘Yes. There are three things I want you to mention: When Warren was a kid he studied with Igor Stravinsky, the classical composer.’ ‘Okay,’ I said, ‘I’ll do that.’ I said, ‘By the way, when I was a kid, I had a paper route,’ and we kept going. He said, ‘Also, I want you to mention Stumpy the gangster.’ I said, ‘Okay, got it. Stumpy the Gangster.’ He said, ‘Next, I want you to mention Bev the Mormon.’ ‘Okay. Stumpy the gangster, Bev the Mormon. Got that.’ And I said, ‘By the way, Jordan, those are my two favorite songs.’ He said, ‘Those were his parents, dumbass.’

“Oh, by the way, Igor Stravinsky is still waiting for his nomination.

“I first knew of Warren Zevon’s music when there was an article in Rolling Stone, a big front-page feature on Warren Zevon. It was called ‘The Crack Up and Resurrection of Warren Zevon.’ That was the title of the article of the story; the subtitle was ‘How he saved himself from a coward’s death.’ Well, then, by God, this got my attention, and so I read the article because I enjoyed the man’s music, and at one point in the article we realized that Warren is having some trouble with addiction. He’s tortured. He has emotional difficulties and he’s addicted and he’s struggling, and we all know that these stories sometimes don’t end well. It turned out at one point, he got very drunk, took a gun and started shooting up his own record albums. Now, at the time I had been a TV weatherman, so this was completely out of my league of experience. But because of that, Warren was able to struggle through with the help of his family, with the help of his friends, and he did save his own life. And I just wonder, is it more difficult to save your own life or save the life of somebody else? Or is that equal? But by God, the fact that Warren existed through this, tortured as he was, and saved his own life, to me, listening to the man’s music, I found it to be even more valuable.

“When I then got to know Warren in person. I used to have a TV show on NBC. Hands if you remember NBC. Warren would be a guest on the program and he often would fill in for our musical director, Paul Shaffer. And it was a delight for me to have these two around, listening to Warren and talking to and getting to know Warren. And I was taken by an album that Warren had done in the ‘70s. It was called ‘Stand in the Fire.’ It was recorded at the Roxy on Sunset Blvd., and it was a live album, and the energy of that album would come off the record in those days and jump on you and knock you down. It was amazing. And I was talking to Warren on the show about that album and I said, ‘Warren, that was so great, “Stand in the Fire.” The music on that live album, I couldn’t get enough of that. It was tremendously dynamic.’ Warren looked at me and he said, ‘Well, you know, honestly, Dave, when it comes to the ‘70s, there’s really not much I can remember,’ kind of explaining his struggle. But then the music that we listened to, Warren playing with our band… and forgive me for this, but being right there in that studio, it was my own version of ‘20 Feet From Stardom.’ It was delightful,

“You know, in music, many pretend, but Warren is a poet leaving few of life’s vagaries unaddressed. Warren’s music is dense with historic illusion, love and sadness, tinted with unexpected whimsy. Delivered with third-rail voltage rock ‘n’ roll, or sweet, heartbreaking, lush, symphonic melodies, either version of the man’s music is classic.

“Rock ‘n’ roll… Ask any of Warren’s peers — Bruce Springsteen, Don Henley, Jackson Browne, Bob Dylan. Hell, ask Igor Stravinsky. Warren Zevon is in my Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, actually his own wing.

“I had an idea; you’re gonna have to bear with me on this. I am so consumed with the work of Warren Zevon that when I was coming over here tonight in the Way-mo, I decided I better make a list of Warren Zevon songs and explain some of these to this audience… And keep in mind, thank you, I’m not a musicologist, I’m not the professor of rock. I’m just Dave. Are you ready for this? Here we go. Now this is not a complete list. And I’ve divided ’em into three categories.

“The first category: Warren Zevon, global and personal strife. ‘Roland, the Headless Thompson Gunner’ — we all know that this is about a Norwegian mercenary and Patty Hearst. We know ‘Excitable Boy’ — this is about a boy who gets very excited about pot roast. ‘I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead’ — and boy, if this doesn’t get you in the Hall of Fame, stop trying.

“Category number two: love songs. ‘Mutineer.’ Oh my God, this makes people cry. ‘Reconsider Me.’ This also makes people cry. ‘Searching for a Heart.’ Whenever I listen to this song, it’s always like the first time I’ve heard it and then I start to cry.

“Okay, the third category of Warren Zevon songs: Songs about werewolves. That’s right. This is about a werewolf in London, and I don’t know if this is a true story, but there you have it.”

A tribute reel followed that featured Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, Don Henley and Jorge Calderon, among other friends and contemporaries, talking about Zevon’s impact, interspersed with performance clips that included Linda Ronstadt doing one of her many covers of his work. Then Letterman returned.

“The thing about ‘Enjoy every sandwich’ — you know that that’s easy, but it’s deeply meaningful. And there’s not a person in this room who hasn’t considered that, but nobody can hang on to that on a daily basis. But by God, isn’t that true of life around the planet? Enjoy every sandwich.

“I have a joke here I want to try: Oh my God, I’m surrounded by Killers and they’ve captured Waddy Wachtel. Oh, brother.

“So that night, with Warren on the show, that was 22 years ago, the last time I saw Warren after the show, Warren goes up to his dressing room and I follow Warren to the dressing room myself. And I’ve been warned never to follow people to the dressing room, but I go up to Warren and we’re in the dressing room and he’s changed his clothes and he’s taking his stuff and he’s putting it away. And he’s got a guitar there that he’s used every time he’s appeared on our show. And as we’re chatting, he picks up the guitar and he puts it in the guitar case. And then he flips up those two little guitar clippies on a guitar case. How long do I need to do this? He closes the guitar case, he hands it to me and he says, ‘Take care of this for me.’ So in my head, I think I’ve seen this movie. I know what’s supposed to happen now, and sure as hell, it did happen. I started to sob uncontrollably. Warren and I hugged and I said, ‘Warren, I just love your music.’

“So for 22 years, I have taken care of the guitar. This is the guitar right here… You know, in a way I’m glad the guitar gets a bigger reaction than the ‘I’m surrounded by Killers’ joke. This is the guitar, and by God, um, tonight it’s going back to work. Dave [Keuning, lead guitarist of the Killers], it’s all yours, sir. So now to put Warren right in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it’s gonna be the Killers. Congratulations, Warren. Thank you for everything. Enjoy every sandwich”

Amanda Barrie believes Tony Warren would be “delighted” with Corrie’s LGBTQ+ representation

by jummy84 November 7, 2025
written by jummy84

It’s been 23 years since Coronation Street icon Amanda Barrie last put pen to paper, in a tell-all autobiography that disclosed her sexuality publicly for the first time.

It was something she feared would bring an end to her 15 year stint as Jim’s Café owner Alma Sedgewick, and part of the reason she chose to leave the cobbles behind was to live authentically.

Following the release of her latest book, ‘I’m Still Here – My 90 Years’ – which has been ghost-written by wife Hilary Bonner – Barrie speaks to RadioTimes.com about the struggle she faced while working on the ITV soap, and how the changing face of Weatherfield would “delight” creator Tony Warren.

“In 2000, I gave my notice and said: ‘Kill me!’”, she explains.

“I didn’t want to go back into it. If I was going, I was going. Part of it was that I was a little bit tired of living that life, and not being totally honest with people.

“I found it rather difficult. I was always honest [to friends and family] about being with my husband Robin and then later with Hilary, but I only tasted that side of things in Corrie. I’d have been written out.”

It’s something that Amanda now finds “ironic”, given the show champions diversity both on and off screen.

“I used to say: ‘It’s not catching you know!’, but after I left, I think it sort of is. There’s one in every house down the street.

“It should be called Canal Street (after Manchester’s gay village), because you can’t move for them! So it is catching.”

Prior to becoming a household name and being projected into the living rooms of millions across the country each night, Amanda had an extensive stage career – first pushed into the limelight by her mother at the age of three. A Manchester girl, she formed an early friendship with Tony Warren, both represented by the same agent.

“We were young and ridiculous and he’d come and destroy auditions by saying he could dance and sing – which he couldn’t! He was told off all the time,” she laughs.

“We kept in touch and went for a meal one night in what was a very posh place in Manchester – the French restaurant at The Midland. He asked me if I wanted to go and look at The Street.

“We stood hand in hand on a moonlit night, looking at Coronation Street. Tony said: ‘It’s magic, isn’t it.’ It was a privilege to be stood there with him.

“Tony just so happened to be a trifle gay! Just a tiny, tiny bit. He was the campest of the camp and will be delighted to know the way the street is going the way it is!”

Before her initial early ’80s guest stint in Corrie, she enjoyed a string of television and film roles – including alongside Sid James as last Pharaoh of Egypt Cleopatra in 1964 comedy Carry On Cleo.

But for Amanda’s mother, nothing could quite beat the dizzy heights that the Rovers Return could offer.

“I was only in it for a bit and she was so thrilled. With Corrie, I’d made it! If I’d won an Oscar she wouldn’t have been so pleased.

“She used to ring up [in an accent] saying, ‘Amanda Barrie is the most wonderful thing to happen to your show, you should keep her.’ Then I got a phone call from [producer] Bill Podmore asking me to stop her calling the production office.

“I didn’t come back into it fully until after she had died. She must’ve gone straight up there, knocked on the door and demanded a chat with the producer of Coronation Street!”

The next 12 years would see Alma marry factory owner Mike Baldwin (Johnny Briggs), be driven into the canal by Don Brennan (Geoff Hinsliff), and eventually succumb to a cervical cancer diagnosis.

“When I was doing it, there was so many inaccuracies about the medical side of things,” she reveals.

“I’ve never had any bad fan mail. It had been put out that I was ‘thrilled to be playing a cancer victim’, and of course I hadn’t said that. This man wrote to me and said, ‘I’m glad you’re thrilled to be playing a cancer victim, my wife has cancer and by the time your story goes out she’ll be dead.’

Barrie’s wife has ghost-written her new autobiography. Amanda Barrie

“I started to get my back up. It was the first and only time I ever did it in my career – I rang up Hilary, as someone I could trust to leak my story. I had to disconnect myself from the writing of the storyline because I didn’t agree with the way it was being done. Hilary did it for me and we’ve been together ever since!”

A recurring guest role in sun-soaked sitcom Benidorm and a residence in the Big Brother house would follow, returning to the stage as part of a Coronation Street live show earlier this year.

“If they do it again, I hope they ask me. The audience were so receptive all the way through.

“I’ve been very lucky, I’ve done a lot of good work in the West End with very good people, but you do Carry On Cleo and Coronation Street and you’re not forgotten.”

Amanda Barrie and wife Hilary Bonner will appear at St Andrew’s Book Festival to discuss their book on Saturday 29th November.

Fountains of Wayne, Marshall Crenshaw, Shooter Jennings and more also take part in Los Angeles gig honoring Rock Hall-bound singer-songwriter

Jackson Browne, Dwight Yoakam, and Fountains of Wayne were among the artists to cover Warren Zevon at a Los Angeles tribute concert honoring the late Rock Hall-bound singer-songwriter.

Marshall Crenshaw, Shooter Jennings, Steve Wynn, Inara George and more also took part in Meet Me in L.A.: The Songs of Warren Zevon, presented by Wild Honey Foundation and the Zevon Family.

Browne, who produced Zevon’s 1976 self-titled debut album as well as his 1978 hit “Werewolves of London,” covered the Warren Zevon single “Desperados Under The Eaves” as well as the title track and “Don’t Let Us Get Sick” off 2000’s Life’ll Kill You.

Yoakam contributed Zevon’s “Carmelita” to the tribute concert, and opened his performance by reminiscing about how he previously covered the track on his own 1986 debut album Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc., and Zevon’s reaction to that rendition:

The Meet Me in L.A. also saw Crenshaw tackle the Zevon classic “Sentimental Hygiene,” while the recently reunited Fountains of Wayne delivered a cover of “Poor Poor Pitiful Me.”

Trending Stories

Earlier this year, it was announced that Zevon would be posthumously inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, which will present him with the Musical Influence Award; it’s expected that Zevon’s longtime friend David Letterman will induct the late singer into the Rock Hall.

“I went and looked at the other people that were inducted in that: Hank Williams, Woody Guthrie, and Louis Jordan. And, I mean, Billie Holiday. It’s not really a shitty club, you know what I mean?” Zevon’s son Jordan told Rolling Stone of the honor. “I think that it acknowledges that he is influential, in the same way that I think people were a little shocked that he got as many fan votes as he did. There’s this undercurrent of his influence in a lot of musicians and a lot of people’s lives.”

Lesley Ann Warren on His ‘The Limey’ Role

by jummy84 September 20, 2025
written by jummy84

When Terence Stamp passed away on August 17, he left behind a legacy of incredible performances, ranging from his breakthrough role as the title character in “Billy Budd” and assignments for European auteurs like Pier Paolo Pasolini (“Teorema”) and Federico Fellini (“Toby Dammit”) to his comeback role as General Zod in the “Superman” movies. Yet as good as all these films and many of his others are, there’s one Terence Stamp movie that gave him the part he was born to play: director Steven Soderbergh‘s “The Limey.”

Working with a razor-sharp script by his “Kafka” and “Haywire” collaborator Lem Dobbs, Soderbergh made “The Limey” a tailor-made showcase for Stamp’s distinctive blend of wry humor, brooding intensity, and icy charisma. Stamp plays Wilson, a British ex-con who travels to Los Angeles to avenge the murder of his daughter, whom he suspects was killed by aging music mogul Peter Fonda or someone in his orbit.

'A House of Dynamite'

It’s a character that riffs on both earlier Stamp performances (most notably his work in Ken Loach’s “Poor Cow,” which is integrated into “The Limey” as flashback footage) and his personal biography as a 1960s icon, since Soderbergh and Dobbs use their revenge story as a vessel into which they can pour every idea they’ve ever had about the era and its unfulfilled promises. Wilson is one of the richest characters in Stamp’s oeuvre: regretful and resigned, hilarious and mournful, and deeply angry yet with flashes of tenderness.

The fervor with which Stamp attacks the role was evident right from the first table read, according to his co-star Lesley Ann Warren. “I did a read-through with Terence and Steven Soderbergh, and I was totally terrified,” Warren told an audience at the American Cinematheque. “He’s very imposing in real life. He was a very formidable man.”

The Cinematheque screened “The Limey” last week as part of its “Starring Terence Stamp” series, which runs through September 25 and features key Stamp works like “The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert” and William Wyler’s “The Collector.” Warren, who plays Elaine, a struggling actress who helps Wilson in his quest (she was his daughter’s acting teacher), participated in a post-screening Q&A to pay tribute to Stamp and talk about her experience on the movie.

“I had never met him, but I was such a fan of his from the time of ‘Billy Budd’ on,” Warren said, adding that the fact that she was intimidated by the actor fed her performance. “I was nervous, but it actually helped with the character because she’s so uncertain and suspicious and unsure.” Indeed, one of the movie’s many pleasures is the power of Warren’s quiet, understated portrayal of a lonely woman whose dreams have not worked out — a far cry from Warren’s more energetic and comic performances in movies like “Clue” and “Victor/Victoria.”

It’s a type Warren recognized from her years in Hollywood. “ I know some of those people and see what they go through,” she said. “Men and women who just keep trying and trying, and they get a little something, and it keeps them hooked. They work a lot of other jobs, and it’s all great, but there’s a kind of chronic heartbreak because you never really accomplished what you had come out here for or dreamt about doing.”

Understanding the character implicitly, Warren dressed the way she thought Elaine would dress for her first meeting with Soderbergh, and tried to be as low-key as possible. When she got the part, Soderbergh not only had the costume designer model Elaine’s wardrobe on what Warren wore to her audition, but was surprised to find that Warren was completely unlike her melancholy character. “I was laughing about something with the hairdresser one day, and Steven came over and said, ‘You’re not really a depressed person, are you?’ I said, ‘No, I was just trying to get hired.’”

According to Warren, Soderbergh almost never talked to her about her character or her performance — but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t directing. On the day of her most emotional scene, Soderbergh bugged Warren incessantly by telling her a long, bad joke right before she went on camera. “When we were done, I said, ‘Why did you do that?’  He said, “Because I know you, and if you start crying, you won’t stop.’ And I thought, that’s really true about me, how incredibly perceptive. So he directs in this very oblique way, never actually talking about the scene or what should happen. He gets you there without you even knowing what he’s doing. Brilliant.”

Warren found Soderbergh’s oblique way of directing perfect for an oblique script — and a movie that became even more oblique in the editing, as Soderbergh reshuffled the linear narrative to be out of order and more evocative of past memories than a present-day story being told with immediacy. “He changed the entire movie and made it into a kind of dream memory film,” Warren said, noting that that meant shooting the same dialogue scene in different locations and then cutting them together, so that they would feel more like memories where one isn’t quite sure of where certain things were said or heard.

“I had never done that,” Warren said, noting that the different locales helped bring added dimension to the scene every time she and Stamp played it. “The environment affected both of us. We walked and talked by the ocean in a different way, versus when we were in the apartment. There was an intimacy in the apartment that wasn’t there outside. It was as if it was a whole new scene.”

Although Soderbergh’s drastic restructuring left some key scenes on the cutting room floor — including a love scene between Warren and Stamp that she says was the first time she was finally able to relax a little — Warren was thrilled by the final result when she first saw the movie put together. “It was a whole other movie than I had anticipated, but I really loved it.”

Warren sat through the movie again at the Cinematheque, and said that even after seeing it multiple times, she never gets tired of Stamp’s performance — or of another actor who recently left us, Nicky Katt. “I miss Nicky Katt so much,” she said, adding that all of his comic dialogue as an inappropriate hit man was improvised. “He was so great, and Steven loved him.”

As for Stamp, “He’s so powerful and interesting and complex that I’m just as enthralled as I was in the beginning. I never tire of the performance. And I’m just struck by how new the movie still feels.”

“Starring Terence Stamp” runs through September 25 at the American Cinematheque.

On Sep. 3, organizers of P.E.I’s Sommo Festival shared that the “Ordinary” singer withdrew from the event due to “a recently booked scheduling conflict,” in a now-deleted social post.

“With the festival being next week, as you can imagine, this leaves us in a difficult position,” they wrote. “We are working hard to complete the lineup, and you’ll be the first to know when we do.”

Warren was set to join the East Coast two-day festival from September 13-14, with headliners Hozier and Alanis Morissette, and support from Ducks Ltd., PVRIS, Alice Merton, Chiara Savasta, Michael Marcagi, Hollow Coves and more.

Later that night, the chart-topping star took to TikTok to share his perspective — and set the record straight.

“Four weeks ago, I asked for time off. I’m going through a lot of stuff, I’ve been touring all year, I have rehearsals on my birthday — so I wanted a week off. A week off where I could go see a therapist, spend time with my family and sleep in my own bed, because I haven’t been able to do that,” Warren shared.
