Toby Wallace To Star In Netflix Series

EXCLUSIVE: Toby Wallace (Euphoria, Bikeriders) has become the first actor officially set as a series regular in Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed live-action series, based on Ubisoft’s best-selling video game franchise.

Wallace is said to be playing the co-lead in Assassin’s Creed, a high-octane thriller centered on the secret war between two shadowy factions — one set on determining mankind’s future through control and manipulation, while the other fights to preserve free will. The series follows its characters — said to be different from the games — across pivotal historical events as they battle to shape humanity’s destiny.

The series stems from a deal Netflix signed with Ubisoft in 2020. It is expected to start production in 2026 in Italy, which I hear serves as a setting of the series, with the exact time period unclear.

Roberto Patino and David Wiener serve as showrunners. They executive produce with Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, Austin Dill, Genevieve Jones for Ubisoft Film & Television, and Matt O’Toole.

With more than 230 million units sold, the Assassin’s Creed franchise is one of the best-selling series in video game history.

This marks Wallace’s return to Netflix where he previously starred on the 2019 mystery YA drama series The Society. He recently wrapped shooting HBO’s Euphoria as a new Season 3 series regular.

Wallace’s recent feature credits include Jeff Nichols’ The Bikeriders alongside Tom Hardy, Jodie Comer, and Austin Butler, Ron Howard’s Eden alongside Jude Law and Sydney Sweeney, Charles Williams’ Inside with Guy Pearce, as well as in Jusin Lin’s Last Days. .

On TV, Wallace also starred in Danny Boyle’s FX on Hulu limited series Pistol, in which he portrayed Sex Pistols’ guitarist Steve Jones. Aussie Wallace, winner of the 2020 AACTA Best Lead Actor award and the 2019 Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best New Young Actor at the Venice Film Festival for Babyteeth, is repped by CAA, 3 Arts, CP Artist Management, and Sloane Offer.

Penny Lancaster on Gregg Wallace facing “justice” after MasterChef sacking

As well as three other luxury homes (in LA, Florida and France) the couple have a floating abode. Bluebell – a bright blue narrow boat – was Stewart’s 50th birthday gift to Lancaster, now 54, after she became captivated by canal boating during their daily lockdown river walks. “We’d see these beautiful narrow boats,” she explains, “and I thought, ‘That’s a slow life, isn’t it?’. They go five miles an hour and it’s all among nature. I told my mum that I’d love one. So she was like, ‘Hint hint, Rod’.”

A sanctuary for when “life gets fast”, Bluebell is a cause for near disaster, too. “We’ve got a bedroom at the front, and one time Rod was lying in there with the doors open while I was at the other end. Then I went, ‘Oh darling, hang on!’. We crashed into the bank, and a willow tree came into the bedroom,” recalls Lancaster. “Rod was lying there with a tree on top of him!”

The couple started dating in 1999 and married eight years later in Portofino, Italy. Eighteen years on, they still relish surprises. “We had a doorway that was blocked, and I put a bookcase in it,” says Lancaster. “Then it was a case of, ‘Find what I’ve done!’ Or he’ll say to me, ‘Go in there’ – and there’ll be a new painting or a new statue in the room.”

Balancing all that extravagance, glamour and wealth is service to the community. Most Thursdays, the former Strictly Come Dancing contestant does a night shift for the City of London Police. She became a volunteer Special Constable in 2021 after falling in love with policing in 2019 when she took part in the Channel 4 series Famous and Fighting Crime, and has been on duty at high-profile national events, including the funeral of Elizabeth II and the coronation of King Charles. She has also made two arrests that she describes as nerve-racking but quite momentous. “It’s like passing an exam,” she explains.

In her new memoir Someone Like Me, Lancaster writes that “it’s not until you’re catapulted from your safe place that you understand more of who you are”. Policing, she confirms, has strengthened her, not least by helping her process two episodes of sexual violence in earlier life. She was 17 when a fashion designer drugged her drink (she believes) and she woke beneath him midway through an assault. Five years earlier, a stranger molested her in an underpass on her way to school. Neither perpetrator was ever apprehended.

“That’s one of the reasons I feel I’m out there [as a special constable] now. I’m finding justice, but for someone else, someone like me – hence the title of the book.”

When his wife is policing, Stewart’s only “rules” are an end-of-shift text to confirm she is safely back at the nick, then a car home – never the last train. But Lancaster has a confession. “When he’s away, I do get the train home,” she smiles mischievously.

Stewart claimed Lancaster experienced bullying at the hands of Gregg Wallace, labelling him a “tubby, bald-headed, ill-mannered bully” who “humiliated” her when she took part in Celebrity MasterChef in 2021. Lancaster later contributed to an inquiry that upheld 45 out of 83 allegations of misconduct against Wallace and prompted his sacking from the BBC cookery show. “That was a refreshing piece of justice,” says Lancaster.

She’s talking from a sunlounger at the couple’s home in Palm Beach, while Sir Rod has half an hour of beach time before departing for a performance in North Carolina. But in a few days, Lancaster will be on the move, too – to LA to reunite with their sons Alastair, 19, and Aiden, 14, and meet their fifth grandchild, Kimberly Stewart’s new baby boy. (“He’s adorable, and Kim is doing a great job!”, she gushes.)

As well as his boys with Lancaster, plus Kimberly, 45, and Sean, 44 – his children from his first marriage to actress Alana Stewart – Rod shares Renée, 32, and Liam, 30, with second wife, model Rachel Hunter, plus another daughter, Ruby, 37, from his romance with model Kelly Emberg. He fathered his eldest child, Sarah Streeter, 61, at 18, before putting her up for adoption. “We’re already talking about Christmas because we have to figure that stuff out in advance,” says Lancaster. “It’s very hard to get everybody together.”

Stewart is also extremely busy, working on two new albums, a book and planning another new tour, hot on the heels of his Glastonbury show this summer. But at 80 – and after a bout of flu in June that forced him to cancel tour dates in the US – is it time for Lancaster’s other half to ease up and really put his health first? “Him being busy is looking after his health, because it’s what brings him joy, it’s what makes Rod Rod,” she responds. “If he didn’t work, it would all stop. His body wouldn’t know what to do.”

Thank the stars for Bluebell…

Why Controversial Captain Greg Wallace Made Dramatic Return to Show

[Warning: The below contains spoilers for Deadliest Catch Season 21]

It’s six weeks into the fishing season on Deadliest Catch, and a controversial figure has made a dramatic return to the show as the pressure is on to deliver. During the September 26 episode, Sig Hansen wasn’t having too much luck in the midst of a very competitive bairdi crab season. The Northwestern was among 33 boats chasing 700,000 pounds of quota. Sig noticed pots in the area belonged to Keith Colburn. Conflicted on his next move, he called on son-in-law Clark Pederson for input.

Sig wanted to take a little peek at how Keith’s pots were doing, but did it go against his moral and ethical fibers? “If you want, I’ll haul it,” Clark offered. Sig responded, “I can’t tell you what to do.” Nice mental move by Sig as he didn’t have to be the one to get his hands dirty. The pot they picked up had 60 crabs, which confirmed the waters were teeming with product. Sig ordered to set off his own gear parallel to Keith’s pots.

Keith’s brother Monte noticed The Northwestern in the vicinity. Keith called Sig, “a sneaky bastard.” The Wizard captain made the decision to go dark on the radar system. “You want a shoving match? Game on,” Keith said. He checked out Sig’s pot the same way. This evolved into a race as the two went head-to-head. That was until The Northwestern hit a snag. In a moment of generosity, Keith offered to help Sig as the vessel had a one-inch thick polyurethane line wrapped around the propeller shaft, Sig depended on Keith to connect the line from the tangle to The Wizard’s hydraulic powered hauler. The strategy worked t. “I owe you on this one,” Sig said to Keith. It then was back to business for crab.

 Rick Shelford

Elsewhere, Rick Shelford and Sophia “Bob” Nielsen were facing rough conditions aboard the Aleutian Lady. The waves came in strong with the two looking to offload, but they needed another 3,000 pounds. That meant a 55 average in their pots. Rick lost power on his controls after cables and monitors were messed up. Sophia’s strategy was to use the GPS on her phone to locate their pots. This meant all was riding on mobile navigation. The string of pots hit double-digits and was enough to make their delivery. The crew ultimately ended up with 90,081 pounds, which translated to more than $2.4 million in king crab. Rick summed it up with, “It don’t get better than that.”

In the Dutch Harbor, Steve “Harley” Davidson was awaiting a new co-captain after he faced a mutinous crew aboard the Confidence. Harley brought Greg Wallace on to lend a hand for the rest of the season in the hope he can help deliver results. Wallace garnered some controversy last season aboard the Seabrooke with how he treated his daughter, deckhand Megan, who suffered a dislocated hip. He acclimated quickly, knowing he and Harley had to hustle to make up for lost time with more than a million dollar quota over their head. Harley noticed something was wrong with his throttle and controls.

“I need eyes in the engine room right now,” Harley demanded. Greg had throttles on his end at least. The crew believed it’s the breaker. The plan was for Greg to operate controls while Harley handles steering. Their hope was their second string of pots would bring them some luck. They received encouraging results with a 57 per pot average. Greg and Harley look to be a good team.
