Lenny Founder Lindsey Davidson Shares Why Stars Look So Good in Their Vintage Denim and How You Can Too

Lindsey Davidson, founder and CEO of Lenny, is making denim dreams come true from her Studio City, California vintage jean outpost.

Rachel Bilson, Whitney Port, Hannah Berner, Carole Radziwill, Katie Lowes, and more are flocking to the destination for perfectly worn-in Levi’s, Wrangler, Lee, and rare European styles in every wash imaginable, plus Davidson’s expert eye.

“My connection to vintage denim began early. I was a total tomboy growing up and practically lived in jeans, so when it came time to build a brand of my own, it felt only natural that it would center on denim and the romance of vintage,” she tells ET.

Whitney Port/Instagram

That adoration comes down to the history woven into every pair she carries.

“We put a lot of effort into finding truly unique washes and silhouettes because that’s the magic of vintage. No two pairs are the same. What captivates me most about vintage denim is the life it has lived before you. … The whiskering, the fading, and the subtle imperfections are all part of the charm and what makes vintage so special and one-of-a-kind,” Davidson explains.

To make them even more original, the entrepreneur offers one-on-one in person and virtual appointments where she provides tailored tweaks to the waist, hips, and seat for a flattering fit, along with custom embroidery options.

Lenny

“The best tip for creating the perfect pair of jeans is to start with a size that’s close to your own. A lot of people think they need to go up two or three sizes, but that really only works if you’re going for a baggy, oversized look.”

Instead, her approach prioritizes the integrity of the denim and the person wearing it.

“We only offer customizations that make sense for that specific pair to ensure the fit, quality, and character remain intact. … By honing in on those key fit points, we can make thoughtful changes that enhance shape and comfort while keeping the craftmanship of the jeans,” she shares.

Carole Radziwill/Instagram

And while requests vary, one universal desire remains. “When it comes to denim, everyone wants their booty to look good. … Shaping in that area can make all the difference. … There’s no better feeling than wearing a pair of jeans that fits you perfectly. It’s the ultimate confidence booster.”

That attention to detail and emotional understanding is exactly why It-girls gravitate toward her.

Hannah Berner/Instagram

“Everyone, celebrity or not, appreciates something personal and intentional. … We take the time to understand the fit, the fabric, and how someone wants to feel when they put on their jeans,” Davidson says.

“Denim can be such a battle for so many women, so our goal is to make the experience fun and supportive. … We love helping people feel good in a pair of jeans that truly feels like them.”

The Vintage Marché Founder Lili Aghaei Shares Why It-Girls Love Her Finds — and How to Care for Yours

Marché magic! Hailey Bieber, Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Sydney Sweeney, Jessica Alba, Nina Dobrev, and more It-girls have been flocking to The Vintage Marché in Los Angeles, California to snag pre-loved designer handbags, shoes, belts, and jewelry.

The showroom, home to treasures from Gucci, Prada, Chanel, Fendi, Dior, and other top fashion houses, has quickly become a go-to destination for stars looking to score hard to get items.

Lili Aghaei, founder of the business, says the draw starts with the rarity of the items she sources.

“I’ve always been obsessed with vintage luxury pieces that no one else had. Growing up, my mom and grandmother would take me to antique shops, consignment stores, and estate sales, and I fell in love with the hunt and the thrill,” she explains.

Now, Aghaei is sharing that same feeling with celebrities, and everyone else who appreciates a good find.

Stefanie Keenan/Getty Images for Baby2Baby

“My vintage vibe is refined and quietly luxurious but always rooted in storytelling. I’m drawn to timeless pieces with real craftsmanship that carry a kind of soul and magic you just can’t recreate today,” the curator shares.

“People know that when they come to us, they’re getting editorial-worthy treasures that look new, but have the history and uniqueness of vintage.”

As for what’s trending this holiday season: “Creamy beiges, rich chocolates, and classic blacks, with pops of deep red, burgundy, and gold give a festive, polished feel. … Textures are having a moment too, especially pony hair and exotic skins.”

Lindsey Molk

Luckily, shoppers will find plenty of those details in The Fall Edit: Part II, dropping Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 9 a.m. PST.

Once you’ve snagged your picks, Aghaei says proper care is essential.

“Treat each piece like the little work of art it is. … These pieces have lived a life before you, so a little extra care helps them stay beautiful for decades to come.”

Her biggest tip? Focus on storage.

The Vintage Marché/Instagram

“Keep handbags stuffed to maintain their shape, avoid direct sunlight, and use dust bags or breathable covers. For shoes, rotate wear and avoid exposing delicate materials like satin or pony hair to moisture. When it comes to cleaning, less is more. A soft cloth, gentle leather conditioner, and professional maintenance once or twice a year go a long way.”

And when it’s time to get dressed, Aghaei recommends striking the right balance with your old and new items.

“If your vintage piece has texture or character, keep the rest of your outfit streamlined. If your clothing is minimal, it’s the perfect moment to let a standout vintage accessory shine. When you blend the two, you get this effortless, elevated look that feels personal, timeless, and completely your own.”

Said outfit, of course, echoed her on-screen style as Annie, whose “rueful, Chaplinesque, baggy-pants-and-vest look” struck a chord with an entire generation keen to leave behind the “rich hippy” feel of the late ’60s, as Vogue put it. The key to achieving the aesthetic? In a word: vintage.

“Even before the emergence of the Annie Hall style, the popularity of thrift shop clothes had hit the streets,” this magazine noted in an August 1978 interview with the film’s costume designer Ruth Morley. “Ethel Scull made the papers in New York a few years back when she appeared at a gathering of swells in a genuine ESSO workman’s coverall, and rock stars had popularized the slightly schizophrenic garb of cast-offs from other milieux. Lifestyles in general have grown less formal by quantum leaps, and individuality in clothing seems to be a badge for that by-now clichéd adage to ‘do your own thing.’ Women’s hard-won independence is reflected by their search for more personal and less dictatorial styles.”

For her part, Keaton had been a devotee of Goodwill since the early ’60s, calling its LA branches her “sanctuary” as a teenager. “Mom taught my sister Dorrie and me to rummage for the best and alter if needed,” she wrote in Fashion First. “Someone else’s junk was now our perfect treasure. Once home, we would put together outfits for the rest of the day, while discussing when we would go back to the Goodwill.” Before she had even left Santa Ana College for Manhattan, she had developed her distinctive taste—as evidenced by her request to wear a bowler hat to her prom. “My mother said, ‘Maybe another time, Diane.’”

Here, Vogue looks back at the star’s most memorable early fashion moments.

The NY Archive's Gianna Corvino on Vintage Shopping Secrets and Designing Tate McRae’s Go-To Baby Tee

The NY Archive’s Gianna Corvino on Vintage Shopping Secrets and Designing Tate McRae’s Go-To Baby Tee

by jummy84 September 30, 2025

Tate McRae might just be the coolest woman you know — and part of that is thanks to Gianna Corvino, founder of The NY Archive.

The vintage collector and designer is behind McRae’s coveted pony hair zebra Fendi heels, as well as the singer’s go-to baby tee. Now, she’s telling ET how she does it all.

“Growing up on the Upper East Side in New York City, girls had Chanel backpacks at age 16 and luxury goods were everywhere. Instead of giving in to that pressure, my mom kept me grounded and let me borrow from her closet. I didn’t even realize I was wearing vintage at the time, I just knew I felt amazing slipping into her old BCBG dresses or my dad’s leather jackets,” she explains.

Tate McRae/Instagram

What started as raiding her parents’ wardrobes evolved into a global treasure hunt. Today, Corvino scours everything from Paris flea markets to Upstate New York estate sales, sourcing standout pieces for herself, McRae, Lily Rabe, and more.

“The right piece doesn’t just complete an outfit, it helps you stand apart, whether it’s on a red carpet or just on your way to work. … It’s part intuition, part obsession. I’m constantly looking for pieces that spark something in me,” she says.

Among her personal favorites: Manolo heels, embroidered Christian Lacroix gowns, crochet Blumarine separates, colorful Dior tops, and beaded Fendi baguettes.

For anyone embarking on their own vintage mission, Corvino suggests starting with a strong sense of personal style.

“Once you know yourself, finding the right pieces becomes effortless. It takes a little trial and error but drawing inspiration from things you love like old movies, magazines, or even art can really help,” she notes.

If you want an extra hand, Corvino offers one-on-one appointments at her curated showroom in New York City.

Tate McRae/Instagram

“I love doing private sourcing and styling sessions at The NY Archive HQ. … I wanted the vibe to be the opposite of a retail store and more like an elevated version of playing dress-up or walking into your most stylish friend’s apartment. It’s a fun, intimate, and nostalgic space.”

Staples you can’t leave without? Worn-in Levi’s, a leather bomber jacket, cowboy boots, ballet flats, and a pre-loved watch. To level things up, Corvino says it’s all about adding the right graphic tee.

“A baby tee is such a simple piece, but the right one can completely shift your look, like wearing your personality on your sleeve, literally. … The NY Archive designs are funny, playful, cheeky, and a little girly. … They land somewhere between the nostalgia of the Justice tees we all grew up with, Rachel McAdams‘ iconic graphic tank while playing Regina George in Mean Girls, and Dior tops from the early 2000s.”

If you know one thing about The Diplomats, the crew didn’t just have Hip-Hop on lock. The group’s influential legacy created a cultural movement and set trends in fashion, with their unapologetically flashy style. With New York Fashion Week (NYFW) taking the Big Apple by storm, Jim Jones and Juelz Santana reunited for the limited-edition launch of their eyewear with Vintage Frames Company.

On Wednesday night (Sept. 10), Hip-Hop and fashion lovers rolled through New York City’s ESSX to get a peek at the collaborative black sunglasses. As the Martell Dipset-inspired cocktails flowed, DJ Statik Selektah set the vibe on the ones and twos. ASAP Ferg, Fabolous, Maino, FoodGod, Laura Stylez, Jonathan Mannion, Ty Hunter, Kid Super, and Vandythepink were among the noteable attendees. To top off the occasion, Jim Jones and Juelz Santana tagged-teamed for a Dipset performance with DJ Self.

Chloe Fineman’s Side Hustle Is Hunting for Vintage Jeans and Raiding Her Sister’s Closet

All in the family! Saturday Night Live star Chloe Fineman and her artist sister, Emma Fineman, love their MOTHER — and they’re showing it with a 1960s-influenced collection.

The siblings teamed up with the fashion line for a 15-piece apparel and accessories collab, rooted in their shared obsession with pre-loved treasures.

Anton Gottlob

“I’ve always wanted the perfect pair of vintage blue jeans, and it’s been my full-time side hustle trying to find them,” the comedian shared in a press release.

“I couldn’t be more excited that I’ve achieved the best jeans I’ve ever worn with MOTHER. Full disclosure, my other full-time side hustle is borrowing my sister’s clothing, so I’m thrilled we solved that problem with a curated collection inspired by our favorite vintage finds over the years (a.k.a. things I steal from her closet),” she continued.

Thanks to the duo, shoppers won’t have dig through thrift stores — or their family’s wardrobes — to score nostalgia-driven staples like cigarette pants, A-line skirts, faux patent leather sets, a wool jockey hat, stockings, a printed scarf, and of course, classic blue jeans.

Anton Gottlob

But to give each item the same, special touch that retro garments offer, the comedian’s sister designed custom graphics and a signature monogram hidden in jacket linings and stitched onto knits.

“I can’t wait to have more people asking me, ‘Hey, can I borrow that?’,” the Summer of 69 actress spilled.

Anton Gottlob

To spread their sisterly love further, 10% of net sales will go to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Foundation to support California wildfire relief in honor of their firefighter cousin.

The Chloe Fineman x MOTHER capsule is available to shop now at motherdenim.com, with prices ranging from $35 to $375.

Venice 2025: ‘Dead Man’s Wire’ is a Vintage 1970s Folk Hero Story

by Alex Billington
September 3, 2025

This is a true story. It all really happened. Now 48 years later it’s being retold again and will find new life as a folk hero story about a man frustrated with the system who decides to try and make a difference… Even if the way he sets the record straight isn’t exactly legal or very nice, all that matters is he causes a scene and gets people to listen to his plight. Sometimes that’s what it takes, right? When the system is totally broken and there’s nothing else you can really do, you might need to break some laws and shake things up. No one was hurt! Thankfully. It’s all gravy! Dead Man’s Wire is a brand new, true story crime thriller made by acclaimed American filmmaker Gus Van Sant. It’s his first feature film in 7 years, since last making Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot back in 2018. Van Sant seems to still be into telling crime stories from America’s past, as this is yet another story about a peculiar incident. But who’s the actual criminal in this story? That’s up to you to decide. The press screening audience at the 2025 Venice Film Festival was so into this story & what happens, they cheered non-stop during the credits. This guy certainly got their attention…

Directed by successful indie filmmaker Gus Van Sant (his 18th feature film so far), from a screenplay written by Austin Kolodney, this is an actual story and it all really happened. The morning of February 8th, 1977, Anthony G. “Tony” Kiritsis (played by Bill Skarsgård), 44, entered the offices of Richard O. “Dick” Hall (Dacre Montgomery), president of the Meridian Mortgage Company, and took him hostage with a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun wired with a “dead man’s wire” from the trigger to the Hall’s head. His plan was to get his father, played by a very grump Al Pacino, but he was on vacation so he took his son instead. Back in those days the cops were pretty careless, so Tony proceeds to take Dick out and into his car, and drive down to his apartment where he holds him hostage for days. There was no shootout or anything. Tony didn’t really want to hurt Dick – he was pissed at how the rich bastards who run Meridian Mortgage treated him. His demands to let him go involved getting his money back and Meridian issuing a public apology. Eventually he asked for immunity, too. Somehow, the cops agreed and nothing had happened to anyone. Because while this is the story of a scary hostage situation, it’s actually about all the greedy bastards who ruin other people, and a tale of one man who did whatever he could to show the world he wouldn’t stand for that BS anymore.

While I wasn’t familiar with Tony Kiritsis’ story before, he actually did become a kind of folk hero amongst regular folks who understood with his plight. He’s a bit like the Barefoot Bandit or D.B. Cooper or, dare I say, Luigi Mangione. Van Sant frames this story around a radio DJ named Fred Temple, played perfectly by Colman Domingo. Tony was a big fan of his radio show, so he kinda used Fred to get the word out and tell his story, so that regular people could hear and understand why he was kidnapping and holding him. It actually worked. Sometimes people do listen! And they do sympathize with others being screwed over. There are a few filmmaking flourishes Van Sant adds, otherwise this is a fairly straight-forward, no frills recreation of the story of Tony & Dick. There’s not enough excitement or energy in the storytelling to make it riveting and/or rewatchable. It’s somewhat entertaining, thanks to an exceptionally good wired-up lead performance by Skarsgård as Tony. But I wish there was more to engage with, I wish I felt like shouting from the rooftops once it was over. That said, the message matters the most. And it’s clear the Venice audience caught onto that cheering so loudly when it ended. They were clearly fans of Tony, too… Even though it’s obvious some will argue that he was the bad guy and what he did was wrong. But that can be said about Dick, too, can’t it?

Of course there are plenty of other films like this – most notably Dog Day Afternoon and any of the movies about D.B. Cooper and/or the Barefoot Bandit. The attention-to-detail in recreating the 1970s aesthetic (and stark difference in policing) is impressive, in order to let Tony and all his decisions that February speak for themselves. Van Sant doesn’t try to be preachy and doesn’t need to be. Even if the film is a bit rough around the edges, it’s a clever story and maybe some other viewers will be more amped up watching this than I was.

Vintage Throwback Trailer for Dinklage’s ‘The Toxic Avenger’ Remake

by Alex Billington

“Winston became The Toxic Avenger! The first superhero born out of nuclear waste!” Cineverse unveiled a fun throwback “grindhouse” trailer for the bonkers horror remake of The Toxic Avenger. Also known as The Toxic Avenger Unrated – because they’re all releasing it without cutting out all the most gruesome gore that kept it from being released for the last two years. Finally hitting theaters at the end of this month. Don’t miss it! The original Toxic Avenger from 1984 is a Lloyd Kaufman / Troma horror cult classic. Many sequels were made, but now Troma has teamed up with Legendary for a brand new take. Macon Blair’s The Toxic Avenger reboot follows struggling everyman-janitor Winston Gooze (starring Peter Dinklage as our new anti-hero) who is transformed by a horrible toxic accident into a new kind of superhero: The Toxic Avenger! With super-human strength & wielding a glowing mop, Toxie must race against time to both save his son & stop a ruthless, power-hungry corporate tyrant. This also stars Jacob Tremblay, Taylour Paige, Julia Davis, Jonny Coyne, Elijah Wood, and Kevin Bacon. This retro trailer comes from Bloody-Disgusting and is created by Wilson Cleveland to feel like it comes straight from 1984 (when the original first debuted).

Here’s the throwback grindhouse trailer for Macon Blair’s The Toxic Avenger: Unrated, from YouTube:

Now wielding a glowing mop with super-human strength, he must race against time to save his son and stop a ruthless and power-hungry tyrant bent on harnessing toxic superpowers to strengthen his polluted empire.” This 2023 update of The Toxic Avenger is both written and directed by American actor / filmmaker Macon Blair, his second feature after directing the film I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore (from 2017) previously. The script is based on the original The Toxic Avenger movie by Lloyd Kaufman & Joe Ritter. It’s produced by Alex Garcia, Michael Herz, Lloyd Kaufman, and Mary Parent. This initially premiered at Fantastic Fest 2023 a few years ago, and also played at Beyond Fest that year. Cineverse will finally release Macon Blair’s The Toxic Avenger remake in select US theaters starting August 29th, 2025 coming soon. Follow them @ToxicAvenger for updates. Who’s ready for this?
