‘South Park’ Thanksgiving Episode Sees Cartman Turn to ‘Race Science’

by jummy84 November 27, 2025
written by jummy84

South Park returned to Comedy Central on Wednesday for a Thanksgiving-themed episode filled with its trademark double entendre, rich dialogue and plot action far more focused on the happenings in the titular town than with Donald Trump and Satan’s expected baby.

As the episode opens, South Park’s mayor is having trouble finding a financier for the annual Turkey Trot and local businesses are at a loss, having fallen on hard economic times. A solution is floated to ask for money from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which one resident notes is giving money to just about everyone lately — a reference to the dozens of comedians who recently traveled to the wealthy Middle East nation for a stand-up gig and big payday.

The boys of South Park Elementary are all-in on the race once it’s made clear that there is a $5,000 prize for the winning team. That is, if no disparaging remarks against KSA and its Royal Family are made by the winners, as is made clear in a non-animated advertisement (i.e. real people, etc) for the big Thanksgiving Day event.

Meanwhile, Department of War head and former Fox News guy Pete Hegseth shows up at the South Park Police Department, repelling down a rope, to release Trump administration asset, or its puppet master, Peter Thiel out of lock-up but is told to get his “little bitch ass” out of South Park by Sgt. Harrison Yates amid a dispute over the release of Thiel, who recently split town with a “6, 7” repeating Eric Cartman in an attempt to thwart the rise of the Antichrist. Naturally, this slight from the local police leads to Hegseth declaring war on South Park. That is, until President Trump calls to intervene and demand that he focus on getting Thiel back to the White House.

As the Turkey Trot approaches, more and more South Park residents are signing up and Cartman, attempting to ensure a win, turns to “race science” to determine who will finish first and win that Saudi loot (cue a gag that the Asian City Pop-Up team will race smart, but not necessarily fast). This makes Cartman dead on getting Tolkien Black, South Park Elementary’s male student of color, on his team, as he always wins the runs. But as Tolkien tells him, “Just because I’m Black, does not mean I run fast.”

Cartman finds his science-fueled race attempt to win $5,000 thwarted when Tolkien bows out over the sponsorship of the event. “It doesn’t feel right,” he tells Cartman, who accuses his fair-weather friend of encouraging KSA to continue its actions toward critics — doesn’t he want “them to pay America for sports rather than hacking up reporters and paying Pete Davidson to do comedy?” Here, Cartman, via a series of cutting lines, presents both sides of the argument that emerged as the Riyadh Comedy Festival divided the stand-up community last month.

Back at the race, the attendees are ready to dash for the case, but before the runners are off, Hegseth mistakes the runners gathering for the race for an Antifa uprising; he is egged on to attack by the gunshot that starts the former fun run, which has become a battle for Saudi money among the town’s struggling business owners. The Department of War’s top brass is perhaps a bit more concerned with content creation and YouTube subscribers than thwarting a left-wing uprising. And faster than he can say “like and subscribe, you guys,” Homeland Security Chief Kristi Noem is on the scene to steal his thunder (ideally before her face melts off).

With the race started and the runners being gassed by the Department of War, Cartman is running along and has now convinced Tolkien to join in on the Trot. But he’s slipping behind and out of breath, because, as he’s been saying all along, he may be Black and athletic, but he’s not a runner. In the end, it doesn’t matter because Cartman manages to get Tolkien first across the finish line, all thanks to a little “race science.” This is all after Tolkien calls out Cartman’s racism.

As the episode concludes, Hegseth has been rounded up by an angry Sgt. Yates and is tossed in the local lock-up, where his cellmate is none other than Peter Thiel.

Season 28 of South Park is set to conclude in two weeks, on Dec. 10.

Initiative Wants to Turn Indie Filmmakers Into Awards Contenders

by jummy84 November 11, 2025
written by jummy84

For smaller independent films, running an awards campaign can be a pipe dream; it’s just too expensive to consider. Picture Motion’s new “To Be Seen: Awards Impact Initiative” is betting it can level the playing field.

Social impact marketing agency Picture Motion launched the initiative with backing from Pop Culture Collaborative, a philanthropic fund that resources storytellers working to transform narratives around people of color, immigrants, refugees, Muslims, and Indigenous peoples. The initiative provides marketing support for films from underrepresented filmmakers, casts, and talent during awards season, helping these films reach voters, tastemakers, and audiences who decide which movies earn recognition.

Joachim Trier at the 'Sentimental Value' Los Angeles premiere held at the DGA Theater Los Angeles, California.

Two Films Leading the Charge

This year’s inaugural cohort features two acclaimed films: the narrative feature “Bob Trevino Likes It” and the documentary “Speak.”

The To Be Seen initiative will deliver custom impact campaigns for both films, including high-profile FYC screenings in New York and Los Angeles, press outreach, and digital storytelling to engage voters and audiences. To expand visibility, Picture Motion is collaborating with Seed&Spark on crowdfunding campaigns for both films. The initiative will also work with clipping platform Litebeem to drive social media clips.

“Bob Trevino Likes It,” directed by Tracie Laymon and starring Barbie Ferreira, John Leguizamo, French Stewart, and Lauren “Lolo” Spencer, tells the story of a lonely twenty-something who finds unexpected connection through an online friendship. The film has racked up 30+ festival awards, including 13 Audience Awards, and secured theatrical distribution through Roadside Attractions, Photon Films, and Cinépolis Distribución in Mexico and international markets. It’s currently streaming on Hulu.

“It means the world to us to receive this honor and invaluable support from Picture Motion,” said director Tracie Laymon. “Our values and mission as filmmakers are fully aligned with theirs, and we’re excited to see what we can do together in raising awareness for our film ‘Bob Trevino Likes It’ this award season.”

“Speak,” directed by Jennifer Tiexiera and Guy Mossman, follows ambitious teen orators chasing glory on the global public speaking stage. The documentary premiered in U.S. theaters in early December and has collected major honors including the Grand Prize at Shine Global’s Resilience Awards and the Kathleen Bryan Edwards Award at the Nantucket Film Festival. It’s also won awards from DC Environmental Film Festival, Oxford Film Festival, and the Ridgefield Independent Film Festival.

Why This Matters

Oscar campaigns mean parties, consultants, advertisements, and other exercises that carry steep price tags. That reality was highlighted in 2023 when Andrea Riseborough earned an unexpected Oscar nomination for the small indie film “To Leslie” after celebrities like Charlize Theron, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kate Winslet hosted screenings and flooded social media with support for her performance. The campaign prompted an Academy investigation into whether any rules were violated, but it also sparked a conversation about how the system favors well-funded studios over smaller productions.

“By leveraging the intersection of culture, advocacy, and awards strategy, To Be Seen builds on Picture Motion’s decade-long legacy of using storytelling to drive social impact — ensuring that filmmakers from underrepresented backgrounds have the resources, visibility, and reach to thrive,” said Bridgit Antoinette Evans, CEO of Pop Culture Collaborative.

“The To Be Seen Initiative is about more than just getting these films on voters’ radars,” said Brian Walker, CEO of Picture Motion. “It’s about amplifying stories that will have a lasting cultural impact, stories from diverse voices that have historically been overlooked. This initiative ensures that films like ‘Bob Trevino Likes It’ and ‘Speak’ are seen, heard, and celebrated in a meaningful way.”

Seth Rogen is having to turn down his favourite directors for ‘The Studio’ cameos: “It’s gotten very strange”

by jummy84 November 8, 2025
written by jummy84

Seth Rogen has revealed he’s now having to turn down his favourite directors for cameos on The Studio.

  • READ MORE: ‘The Studio’ review: Seth Rogen and an all-star cast take on Hollywood

The Hollywood satire stars Rogen as TV executive Matt Remick, who is promoted to the head of the fictional Continental Studios amid major changes in the film industry. The first season of the show, which is co-created by Rogen alongside Evan Goldberg, Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck, recently wrapped on Apple TV+.

The show is notable for its extensive use of A-list guest stars, many of whom play self-deprecating versions of themselves, with names so far having included Charlize Theron, Zoe Kravitz, Martin Scorsese, Zac Efron, Olivia Wilde, Bryan Cranston, Anthony Mackie, Ice Cube and Steve Buscemi.

Scorsese’s cameo in particular, Rogen says, has spurred other A-list directors to request an appearance on the show, with the actor describing the experience of turning down some of these names as “very meta”.

“It does feel like I’m running a fake movie studio at times,” he said in a recent interview with GQ. “I’m having directors’ agents call me to pitch their clients to be the directors of fake movies on our show, which is very weird and very meta. And I’m having to actually turn down directors I’m a big fan of because the movie, the fake movie, maybe isn’t quite right for the fake package we have in our heads. So yeah, it’s gotten very strange.”

He went on to add that the success of the show has led to a few people apologising for saying no to cameos. “I had a few people come up to me at the Emmys saying they regret it, which was very meaningful to me,” he explained. “That’s all I want – for people to regret not working with me.”

The interview comes after Rogen detailed his ideal hitlist for guest stars for season two, which includes Zendaya, James Cameron and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Speaking to Variety earlier this year, Rogen also hinted that Daniel Day-Lewis, who he described as “the greatest living actor”, would be an ideal candidate. “Daniel, please consider a Zoom with us,” he quipped. “We’ll pitch you a good idea.”

Dewayne Perkins, who plays publicist Tyler, has also tipped Zendaya for a role. “She’s everything,” he said. “She represents Hollywood in such a cool way, from being a child star to reaching the level that she’s reached. She’s a really good symbol of what Hollywood can be in a good way.”

In a glowing five-star review of season one, NME wrote: “This tongue-in-cheek takedown of the showbiz world is the funniest thing to come out of 2025 so far. If it doesn’t win an Emmy, there’s no justice left in Hollywood. Either that, or it’s a sign that the show has cut a bit too close to the bone – which feels like what The Studio is trying to do anyway.”

Rogen has also spoken recently about how the show was highly influenced by The Office.

Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt Turn Padel Buddies?

by jummy84 October 19, 2025
written by jummy84

It seems Raha and Dua’s mothers are the new besties in town! Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone were recently spotted entering their cars, with rackets in their hands. The actresses enjoyed a game of padel, which Alia is often seen playing. They were seen entering their separate cars in sporty looks. Deepika donned a white hoodie with black full-length tights while Alia was seen in blue athleisure wear.

This is the first time in years that Deepika and Alia have been photographed together. The two actresses were previously spotted at the Filmfare awards in 2019. Several videos and clicks on social media suggest that the two have had a gala time today. While details about their sporty hangout are currently unknown, Alia and Deepika looked fresh and fabulous after their friendly match.

Alia is often seen playing the sport. She has also been snapped on the field with her husband Ranbir Kapoor and daughter Raha. A few months back, an adorable video of Ranbir and Raha supporting Alia during one of her matches had gone viral on social media. Not just Alia, many other Bollywood celebrities including Varun Dhawan, Athiya Shetty, Karan Johar, Ibrahim Ali Khan, Aryan Khan and Suhana Khan have been photographed playing padel time and again.

Deepika Padukone

On the professional front, Deepika Padukone is currently filming King, alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Suhana Khan. Alia Bhatt has two movies in the pipeline. Her Yash Raj Films action movie, ALPHA is releasing on December 25, 2025. Her movie with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War is releasing in March next year. The two actresses are busy with their professional schedules but are surely taking out time for friendly matches and sporting events.

Walton Goggins Responds After Pete Davidson Says Fans Will Turn on Him

by jummy84 September 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Walton Goggins has a response to Pete Davidson after the latter predicted fans will soon “turn” on the White Lotus actor.

Last week, The Hollywood Reporter posted a story on Davidson’s comments, which were made on Theo Von’s This Past Weekend podcast. The two were talking about how some people experience a quick rise to fame, only to see a shift in fan perception.

One example Davidson gave was that of Pedro Pascal. “Look at Pedro Pascal right now. Fucking two years ago he’s a hardworking, great actor.… He’s worked so hard and has been a struggling actor, [then] fucking blows up so fucking hard, everyone’s like, ‘Daddy, daddy! Yeah, daddy, daddy,’” he said. “And then a year later, he’s, like, in everything now ’cause he’s hot and big and everyone’s like, ‘Go the fuck away, dude.’”

Davidson then opined that “you got to give someone time to adjust to that new level of fame. He’s been banging at it for 30 years, and now he’s learning how to go get a cup of coffee or deal with someone that taps you on the shoulder while you have your earbuds in and freaks you out. You got to give that guy a fucking second to, like, adjust.”

The former Saturday Night Live star then mentioned Goggins as the next actor who may endure the same kind of treatment as Pascal.

“They’re gonna do it with Walton Goggins, [he] will be next,” he predicted. “It’s like, we build everybody up and now it’s so fast to turn. It’s within months.”

Goggins saw the THR story and posted about it on Instagram on Sunday.

He started out by writing, “I saw this article and had to respond. (Pete was talking about his own experience) Pete we don’t know each other but I appreciate the heads up. We agree on one thing…. Pedro Pascal isn’t a good man, He’s a great man. A dear friend of mine. As a 53 yr old I’m acutely aware that every experience has a shelf life. I appreciate so many of you going on this journey with me. I imagine a lot of you (and I don’t blame you) are tired of hearing my homilies. Trust me I’m tired of saying them. I have a few things coming out that I have an obligation to talk about…not for me mind you, but to honor all of those that worked so hard to bring these stories to fruition.”

Goggins also urged fans to keep scrolling if they didn’t want to click on a story about him.

“So if you see something with my name on it I encourage you not to click on it…unless you want to…and if you do…I appreciate the support,” he continued. “See to me, being included in this headline isn’t a curse it’s a blessing. How lucky am I that this is even a possibility?!! I’ve had the good fortune of engaging in so many interesting conversations with so many of you…of collaborating with so many top-shelf people across so many disciplines over the last couple of years. Way more than a poor kid from GA would ever have the audacity to imagine. I wouldn’t take one back. So…If saying yes in life more than saying no is a crime, then I’m guilty as charged.”

Goggins also reflected on whether Davidson’s prediction might come to fruition and how he’d feel about it if it did.

“If this headline is a possibility or an inevitability…if this is my fate…. Well…. Fuck it. I’m going to enjoy the FUCK OUT OF IT,” he concluded.

Goggins was nominated for his role as Rick Hatchett in The White Lotus earlier this year. His upcoming credits include the animated film Harry and the Mutant Mid-Century Furniture and the climbing movie Batso, with Lewis Pullman and Jessica Biel. He also returns for Season 2 of Prime Video’s Fallout, which earned him an Emmy nom last year.

AIIMS gastroenterologist shares hack ‘to turn eggs into an anti-inflammatory powerhouse’: Check his full recipe

by jummy84 September 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Eggs are one of nature’s protein-packed gifts: they’re delicious, cheap, and versatile. If you love eggs, then there are a few things that could be better than a perfectly cooked egg, making them a healthy option for breakfast and beyond. But do you usually eat eggs plain, or do you try adding anti-inflammatory ingredients? Also read | AIIMS gastroenterologist ranks popular breakfasts for gut health on a scale of 1 to 10: Upma, overnight oats, granola

Incorporate anti-inflammatory ingredients into eggs to make them healthier. Here’s what Dr Saurabh Sethi suggested. (Freepik)

Gut-friendly, anti-inflammatory eggs recipe

In a September 28 Instagram post, Dr Saurabh Sethi, a gastroenterologist trained at AIIMS, Harvard, and Stanford Universities, said, “Most people think eggs are just protein. But as a gastroenterologist, here is how I turned them into a gut-friendly, anti-inflammatory powerhouse in 5 steps.” He added, “Save this recipe, try it out, and don’t forget to share with your family and friends.”

Here’s what he recommends:

Step 1

Dr Sethi said, “First, crack in two whole eggs. For most people, up to two yolks a day is perfectly fine. The cholesterol scare around eggs is outdated science.”

Step 2

“Add a pinch of turmeric for anti-inflammatory power and black pepper to activate it. That combo is my secret gut-friendly hack,” Dr Sethi said.

Step 3

He added: “Don’t forget salt, but keep it light.”

Step 4

“Load your eggs with veggies. Tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, and even olives. (0:41) This adds fibre, antioxidants, and healthy fats that your gut microbes love,” Dr Sethi said.

Step 5

He concluded, “Cook them gently. Scrambled, omelette, however you like. Avoid drowning them in oil. Let the ingredients shine.”

Nani’s wife Anjana reminisces watching a ‘nobody’ like him turn into a star as he completes 17 years in cinema

Updated on: Sept 06, 2025 04:44 pm IST

Nani debuted in cinema 17 years ago with the 2008 film Ashta Chamma. His wife, Anjana Yelavarthy, reminisced about it.

17 years ago, on 5 September 2008, Nani debuted on screen with the Mohan Krishna Indraganti-directed Ashta Chamma. His then-girlfriend and now-wife, Anjana Yelavarthy, reminisced about watching a ‘nobody’ like him turn into an actor worth his salt. She even posted pictures of the memorable moments. Take a look.

Nani and Anjana Yelavarthy dated for years before getting married in 2012.

One picture Anjana posted on her Instagram stories was clicked from behind and shows Nani walking across a crowded theatre. She put hearts around him in the picture, writing, “17 years ago, I witnessed a ‘nobody’ walk into a packed theatre and step out as someone who was truly meant to be there. :)” The picture seems to have been taken after a screening of Ashta Chamma.

Anjana Yelavarthy posted a picture of Nani from 17 years ago.

Another picture she posted shows her sitting in the audience with anticipation on her face. She wrote, “Clearly in awe (heart emoji).” The picture also seems to have been taken at the same screening of his debut film. Nani reshared her post on his Instagram stories with red heart emojis. He also re-shared his sister, Deepthi Ganta, praising him for ‘thriving’ in these 17 years.

Anjana also posted a picture of herself watching Nani's first film.

For the uninitiated, Nani and Anjana met in Visakhapatnam when he was working there as a radio jockey. The two fell in love and dated for years before getting married in a close-knit ceremony in 2012. Their son, Arjun, whom they lovingly call Junnu, was born in 2017.

Nani’s career and rise to stardom

After Ashta Chamma became a hit and turned Nani into a household name overnight, he starred in films like Ride and Snehituda, which weren’t received as well. The 2011 Nandini Reddy-directed Ala Modalaindi put him back on track again, and he went on to act in hit films like Pilla Zamindar, Eega, Yevade Subramanyam and more.

Nani was last seen in HIT: The Third Case this year. After a string of films that received mixed reviews, he starred in films like Dasara, Hi Nanna and Saripodhaa Sanivaaram in 2023 and 2024. He is now shooting for The Paradise with Dasara director Srikanth Odela. It is slated for release on 26 March 2026.
