“Harmony is a precious thing…” Janus Films has debuted a new 4K restoration trailer for the re-release of the masterpiece Yi Yi, the final film from Taiwanese maestro Edward Yang. This originally premiered in the year 2000 at the Cannes Film Festival, and has grown with time to now be considered one of the greatest films ever made (I completely agree!). It really is an astonishing, towering, extraordinary work of cinematic art – I adore it, too. Yi Yi, titled in full Yi Yi: A One and a Two…, is a portrait of a middle-class family in Taipei, Taiwan in the late 90s. A man in his 40s, his teenage daughter and his eight-year-old son experience life, navigating between remorse, hope and disappointment. It stars Wu Nien-jen, Elaine Jin, Issey Ogata, Kelly Lee, Jonathan Chang. In celebration of its 25th anniversary, this 4K digital restoration was carried out by Pony Canyon Inc., with analog & digital processes provided by Imagica Entertainment Media Services, Inc. Yi Yi really is everything cinema should be about – I watched it for my first time back in 2020 and wrote about the film: “It’s hard to grasp in just one viewing how rich and layered and insightful every last scene is.” All I can do is encourage everyone to take time to watch the film and let it connect with you…

Here’s the new official 4K restoration trailer (+ poster) for Edward Yang’s film Yi Yi, direct from YouTube:

Yi Yi 4K Restoration Trailer

Yi Yi 4K Restoration Poster

The extraordinary, internationally embraced Yi Yi (A One and a Two…), directed by the late Taiwanese master Edward Yang, follows a middle-class family in Taipei over the course of one year, beginning with a wedding and ending with a funeral. Whether chronicling middle-age father NJ’s tentative flirtations with an old flame or precocious young son Yang-Yang’s attempts at capturing reality with his beloved camera, Yang deftly imbues every gorgeous frame with a compassionate clarity. Warm, sprawling, and dazzling, this intimate epic is one of the undisputed masterworks of the new century. Yi Yi, also known as 一一 in Mandarin, is written directed by Taiwanese-American filmmaker master Edward Yang, his seventh and final feature film he made before passing away in 2007. Produced by Shinya Kawai. It first premiered at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival and won Best Director. It has since been restored and re-released including on Criterion 4K Blu-ray back in 2011. This new 4K restoration also just premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. Janus Films will release Yi Yi back in theaters starting September 5th, 2025. It is a must watch.

MOTHERHOOD MEETS JUSTICE!” – The Trial Season 2 Trailer Shows Kajol’s Inner ‘Maa’ In Action | Glamsham.com

by jummy84 August 22, 2025
written by jummy84

The much-awaited legal drama ‘The Trial: Pyaar Kaanoon Dhokha’ is back with Season 2, and Kajol reprises her role as Noyonika Sengupta, a lawyer torn between her duties and personal battles. The makers dropped the trailer on August 22, just days after officially announcing the season on August 6, 2025. The new season will stream on JioHotstar and OTTplay Premium from September 19, 2025.

In the gripping trailer, Noyonika’s life spirals deeper into chaos as she confronts betrayal, power struggles, and painful family decisions. Her husband Rajiv (Jisshu Sengupta), still desperate to repair his public image for political gain, clashes with her. At one point, Noyonika firmly declares, “I want a divorce.” But Rajiv can’t afford to lose her — his ambitions rely heavily on the perfect image she projects.

A reporter’s probing question — “Have you forgiven your husband for his mistakes?” — signals the media circus that surrounds Noyonika’s every move. The story takes an emotional turn when their child suffers an accident, prompting Noyonika to assert, “A mother can do anything for her children.”

The trailer hints at parallels with Kajol’s emotional performance in ‘Maa’, portraying a fierce mother ready to face anything for her child.

Season 2 picks up as Noyonika is dragged back into the courtroom and political battlefield, navigating high-stakes legal cases, office rivalries, old enemies like Dhiraj, and a complicated romance with Vishal. She must now fight not just for justice, but for her own voice in a world built on deception.

New faces like Karanvir Sharma join the ensemble cast, adding new twists to this intense courtroom and family drama. As the line between duty and desire blurs, Noyonika’s biggest trial begins September 19.

Tessa Thompson Stars in Nia DaCosta’s Ibsen Drama ‘Hedda’ Trailer

“Nothing can wrong tonight, Hedda. Nothing…” But it shall go wrong anyway! Prime Video finally reveals their official trailer for Hedda, the next new film from Nia DaCosta after she made Marvel’s The Marvels (and before she went on to direct 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple which is out next year). Adapted from the Henrik Ibsen play “Hedda Gabler“, DaCosta reinvents the story to tell it from a different angle. Hedda is a provocative, modern reimagining of this classic play. Tessa Thompson stars as the titular Hedda Gabler, who finds herself torn between the lingering ache of a past love and the quiet suffocation of her present life, including feelings for the provocative author Eileen Lovborg. Over the course of one charged night, long-repressed desires & hidden tensions erupt — pulling her and everyone else into a spiral of manipulation, passion, and betrayal. “Just a little chaos.” Starring Tessa Thompson, Imogen Poots, Tom Bateman, Nicholas Pinnock, and Nina Hoss. This looks quite good! A ravishing, passionate new take on this story. It will premiere at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival next month before it’s out for streaming later in October.

Here’s the first official trailer (+ poster) for Nia DaCosta’s film Hedda, direct from PV’s YouTube:

Hedda Trailer

Hedda Poster

Intro via TIFF: “Newly wed and precariously dissatisfied with life, Hedda (Tessa Thompson), gun-loving daughter of the late General Gabler, has just convinced her husband George (Tom Bateman), a timid but ambitious scholar, to throw a lavish party the couple cannot afford. On the teeming guest list is Eileen Lovborg (Nina Hoss), a celebrated author of a book exploring sexuality — and also George’s key rival for a coveted academic post. Hedda sees the guests as pawns in an elaborate game she plans to orchestrate with ruthless precision.” Hedda is directed by the acclaimed American filmmaker Nia DaCosta, also director of the films Little Woods, Candyman, and The Marvels, plus episodes of the “Top Boy” series, as well as the upcoming 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. The screenplay is also by Nia DaCosta, adapted from the play “Hedda Gabler” by Henrik Ibsen. Produced by Dede Gardner, Nia DaCosta, Jeremy Kleiner, Gabrielle Nadig, Tessa Thompson. This is premiering at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival this fall. Amazon will then release DaCosta’s Hedda streaming on Prime Video worldwide starting October 29th, 2025. How does that look?

“An extraordinary documentary about an extraordinary film.” Dark Sky Films debuted the official trailer for a documentary film titled Chain Reactions, another cinema history geek-out doc from the acclaimed filmmaker Alexandre O. Philippe (best known for 78/52: Hitchcock’s Shower Scene, Memory: Origins of Alien, Leap of Faith: William Friedkin on the Exorcist, Lynch/Oz, and ohters). This premiered at last year’s 2024 Venice Film Festival and played at a bunch of other fests including Sitges, London, Denver, + Beyond Fest. Fifty years after Tobe Hooper’s iconic horror classic The Texas Chain Saw Massacre shocked the world and forever changed the face of global cinema and popular culture, Chain Reactions charts the film’s profound impact and lasting influence. Featuring in-depth interviews with horror & experts and cinephiles including: Patton Oswalt, Takashi Miike, Alexandra Heller-Nicholas, Stephen King, and Karyn Kusama, each discussing aspects of the film and its impact on pop culture. It’s not just a love letter to the classic OG Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie (and the influence it had on genre movies forever) it’s a deeper look at the creation of this seminal work of horror cinema. This one is a must watch for any & all cinephiles.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Alexandre O. Philippe’s doc film Chain Reactions, from YouTube:

Chain Reactions Doc Poster

50 years after Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre shocked the world and forever changed the face of global cinema and popular culture, Chain Reactions charts the film’s profound impact and lasting influence on five great artists – Patton Oswalt, Takashi Miike, Alexandra Heller-Nicholas, Stephen King, & Karyn Kusama – through early memories, sensory experiences, childhood trauma. By crafting a dynamic dialogue between contemporary footage and never-before-seen outtakes, and also delving into personal impressions triggered by distinct audiovisual formats (16mm, 35mm, VHS, digital), Chain Reactions goes to the heart of how a scruffy, no-budget independent film wormed its way into our collective nightmares and permanently altered the zeitgeist. Chain Reactions directed by acclaimed Swiss filmmaker Alexandre O. Philippe, director of many cinema history doc films: The People vs. George Lucas, The Life & Times of Paul the Psychic Octopus, Doc of the Dead, 78/52: Hitchcock’s Shower Scene, Memory: Origins of Alien, Leap of Faith: William Friedkin on the Exorcist, Lynch/Oz, The Taking, You Can Call Me Bill previously. Produced by Kerry Deignan Roy. This first premiered at the 2024 Venice Film Festival last year. Dark Sky Films releases Chain Reactions in select US theaters starting on September 19th, 2025. “Discipline, trust, faith… These are all pillars of a successful young man.” Dark Star Pictures has unveiled the official trailer for an intriguing survival thriller titled The Wilderness, based on a true story, made by filmmaker Spencer King. Executive produced by Aaron Paul, this is set to hit theaters nationwide in October this fall. Kidnapped and abandoned in the Utah desert, a group of troubled boys are forced into a ruthless “Wilderness Therapy” program. Cut off entirely from the world, they must survive both the elements and the mind games of a director who may not be trying to save them at all. What is this survival program really about? Looks like some religious thing that they force upon people to break them down. Based on real life experiences by writer / director Spencer King. The Wilderness stars Lamar Johnson, Hunter Doohan, Liana Liberato, Sean Avery, Vinessa Shaw, Sam Jaeger, Aaron Holliday, Matt Gomez-Hidaka, & James Le Gros. This certainly looks compelling and unsettling, I hope these kids find a safe way home.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Spencer King’s film The Wilderness, direct from YouTube:

A group of troubled teenage boys are kidnapped from their homes and taken out deep into the unforgiving Utah desert, where they are forced into a brutal and secretive “Wilderness Therapy” program. With no contact with the outside world or any other support, their only way home is to earn the approval of the enigmatic program director—whose motives are far from therapeutic. As the line between rehabilitation and manipulation blurs, the boys must decide whether to survive the program or escape it. The Wilderness is written and directed by American indie filmmaker Spencer King, director of the films Black Petunia and Time Now previously. Produced by Aaron Paul, Amy Berg, Larissa Beck, Lily Blavin, Hunter Doohan, Ali Edwards, & Spencer King. This hasn’t premiered at any festivals, as far as we know. Dark Star opens King’s The Wilderness thriller in US theaters nationwide starting October 17th, 2025 this fall. Want to watch it?

“We haven’t been told the truth!” Vertical debuted the official trailer for an indie film titled Motherland, from filmmaker Evan Matthews making his feature directorial debut. After premiering at a few small film fests earlier this year, te thriller will be out to watch on VOD in September. The vague synopsis explains: set in an alternate present society where the state frees all parents from the burden of raising children, a “rule enforcer” learns a shocking truth that sparks her rebellion. “Freedom from all, for all…” Obviously there’s more going on in this bleak dystopian society than mothers being free. Starring Tony award-winning actress Miriam Silverman as Cora, Holland Taylor, Néstor Carbonell, and introducing Emily Arancio as Zinnia. It’s hard to tell from this trailer what the point of this film is or what it’s message ultimately is. The world building is so vague and they don’t reveal anything… What is it trying to say about our “Motherland”?

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Evan Matthews’ film Motherland, direct from YouTube:

In an alternate present society where the state frees parents from the burden of raising children, a rule enforcer (Miriam Silverman) learns a shocking truth that sparks her rebellion. “Evan’s world-building is as impressive in its attention to detail as it is disheartening in its plausibility. The excellent performances from the entire cast elevate the dystopian thriller narrative.” Motherland is directed by the American indie filmmaker Evan Matthews, making his feature directorial debut after many other short films previously. The screenplay is written by Nicole Roewe. Produced by Tony Glazer, Lana Link, Summer Crockett Moore, Rob Pfaltzgraff. This premiered at the 2025 Omaha Film Festival earlier this year. The Morning Show Season 4 Release Date

Season 4 of The Morning Show is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on September 17, 2025. The season will consist of 10 episodes, with new episodes released weekly every Friday through November 19, 2025.

The September 2025 premiere date aligns with earlier comments from showrunner Charlotte Stoudt, who hinted during PaleyFest in April 2024 that the new season would arrive “after the election,” referring to the 2024 U.S. presidential race. “The show will be out after the election,” she told Entertainment Tonight at the time, adding that the team wanted to explore the story “in an interesting way without being predictive.” As Comic Book Resources noted, the timeline also remains consistent with those of previous seasons.

Executive producer Mimi Leder also teased that season 4 would shift in tone. “What I would say is, last season was about what is the truth, and this could be about, who do you trust?” she said.

Alex and Bradley’s careers and personal lives pulled them apart, but they ended season 3 on a positive note as Alex walked Bradley into the FBI building.

Doc Film ‘Predators’ Trailer Exploring the ‘To Catch a Predator’ Show

by Alex Billington

“Some people watching this may feel like you have something to answer for…” MTV Doc Films debuted the official trailer for a documentary film titled Predators, from director David Osit, one of the highest rated docs from the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Not to be confused with 2010 action movie Predators, or the upcoming sci-fi action movie Predator: Badlands, this film is actually about the infamous TV show called “To Catch a Predator” where they’d lure pedophiles into a house, and then show them on camera being caught & arrested. Looking back on the show and countless franchises it spawned, filmmaker David Osit turns his camera on journalists, actors, law enforcers, academics, and ultimately himself, to trace America’s obsession with watching people at their lowest. Predators is a chilling, edge of your seat film that delves into the murk of human nature to observe hunter, predator, subject and spectator alike, all ensnared in a complicated web of entertainment as far as the eye can see… This film applies critical thinking to the show and wonders whether it made a difference, or if it was just TV sensationalism that made things worse.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for David Osit’s doc film Predators, direct from MTV Doc’s YouTube:

Predators Doc Trailer

Predators Doc Poster

A cultural sensation from its inception in the early 2000s, Dateline NBC’s candid-camera investigative TV series To Catch a Predator ensnared sex offenders and lured them to a film set, where they would be interviewed and arrested while the cameras rolled. The show was a hit and transformed its host Chris Hansen into a moral crusader & TV star, while spawning a global industry of imitators & vigilantes. But why did we watch so voraciously — and why do we continue to devour its web-based, clickbait-driven offshoots? Looking back on the show and the countless franchises it spawned, filmmaker David Osit turns his camera on journalists, actors, law enforcers, academics, and ultimately himself, to trace America’s obsession with watching people at their lowest. Predators is directed by film editor / doc filmmaker David Osit, director of the films Thank You For Playing and Mayor previously. Produced by Jamie Gonçalves, Kellen Quinn, David Osit. This initially premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. MTV Docs will debut Osit’s Predators doc in select US theaters starting on September 19th, 2025 coming soon.
