“My old friend… Come and get it!” Shout Studios has unveiled the official trailer for a throwback 80s movie remake titled Deathstalker, made by Canadian genre filmmaker extraordinaire Steven Kostanski (of The Void, Leprechaun Returns, Psycho Goreman (PG), and Frankie Freako. This fall, return to the Kingdom of Abraxeon with Kostanski reimagining of Roger Corman’s cult sword & sorcery 80s film series, Deathstalker (which began back in 1983). Starring Daniel Bernhardt as the titular Deathstalker with Patton Oswalt providing the voice of the benevolent wizard Doodad, this action fantasy adventure feature. Also featuring Christina Orjalo, Paul Lazenby, and Nina Bergman. Hitting theaters this October. This reboot focuses on the fantasy setting, utilizing creature suits, prosthetic FX make-up and stop-motion animation from his Action Pants FX shop. Deathstalker must face the rising evil and take on the undead sorcerer Nekromemnon to stop his Dreadites from conquering the lands. This looks like Army of Darkness but riffing on these kind of epic sword & sorcery classics of olde. Honestly it totally looks like the perfect pizza & beer weekend flick.

Here’s the official trailer (+ two posters) for Steven Kostanski’s movie Deathstalker, direct from YouTube:

Kanye West Documentary ‘In Whose Name?’ Trailer Arrives: Watch

by jummy84 August 27, 2025

The Ye documentary In Whose Name? has released an explosive trailer, featuring appearances from Drake, Kim Kardashian and Elon Musk.

Directed by Nico Ballesteros, the doc follows Ye (formerly Kanye West) from about 2018 until 2024 and is completely shot on an iPhone. The trailer jumps around from West’s deteriorating relationship with then-wife Kim Kardashian — who filed for divorce in 2021 — to his failed 2020 presidential run and Sunday Service performances.

“The best thing about being an artist who’s bipolar is anything you do and say is an art piece,” Ye says in the clip.

See latest videos, charts and news

The doc pulls the curtain back on Ye to give fans an authentic look at the method to his madness in recent years and what makes him one of the most polarizing artists of the 21st century.

There are plenty of celebrity cameos, including studio sessions with Drake, Pharrell and Swizz Beatz. West is also shown walking out with Playboi Carti and Marilyn Manson at the Donda 2 listening party in Miami and delves into his relationship with his children.

“Should I have blown up the Gap sh–? Should I have blown up the Adidas sh–? But the answer is yes,” he says, referencing his split with the companies following his antisemitic remarks in 2022.

In Whose Name? will be released in about 1,000 theaters across the U.S. on Sept. 19 for a limited time. Tickets can be purchased on the doc’s website. “A documentary six years in the making,” a press release for the film reads. “3,000 hours of footage refined to one story about the world’s most polarizing living artist.”

“I don’t want to do it… I would rather just find it…” Same for me. Apple TV has revealed the official trailer for All of You, a romantic drama from filmmaker William Bridges, best known as the writer of the “USS Callister” episodes from “Black Mirror”. This is the first feature film he’s directed, and it earned many great reviews last year – All of You premiered at the 2024 Toronto & London Film Festivals a year ago. Sadly it’s skipping theaters entirely but will be streaming at home starting this September. Brett Goldstein and Imogen Poots star in a stirring near-futuristic romance as best friends who harbor an unspoken love for one another even after this test matches one of them up with their supposed soulmate. All of You explores whether one person can ever be your everything in this humorous and heart-wrenching romantic drama. This near future sci-fi romance premise is very similar to the other Apple TV film Fingernails a few years ago. The cast of All of You also includes Steven Cree and Zawe Ashton. It’s a lovely trailer highlighting how heartfelt & passionate this story is. I really hope they end up together! I can feel the chemistry already.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for William Bridges’ romance film All of You, direct from YouTube:

All of You Official Trailer

Best friends since college, Simon (Brett Goldstein) and Laura (Imogen Poots) drift apart when she takes a test that finds her soulmate despite many years of unspoken feelings between them. As the time passes, as their paths cross and diverge, neither can deny the feeling that they’ve missed out on a life together. Faced with the uncertainty of changing the course of their lives, are Simon and Laura willing to risk everything to experience the love that had been between them all along, or should they accept their fate? All of You is directed by award-winning British writer / filmmaker Will Bridges (aka William Bridges), his first feature film after directing for the anthology film Ultimate Zombie Feast and creator of the “Soulmates” series; he also wrote the “USS Callister” episodes of “Black Mirror” previously. The screenplay is written by William Bridges and Brett Goldstein. It’s produced by Ryder Picture Company’s Aaron Ryder & Andrew Swett, with William Bridges & Brett Goldstein. This first premiered at the 2024 Toronto Film Festival last year. Apple debuts Bridges’ film All of You streaming on Apple TV+ starting September 26th, 2025. Look any good?

“They’re saying I lit a fire in you… I will put it out.” Here we go! Sony Pictures has revealed the action-packed badass trailer for Sisu 2, which is officially titled Sisu: Road to Revenge in full. Those who know already know about the totally awesome Finnish action movie Sisu from 2022 (read my review), directed by Finnish filmmaker Jalmari Helander, starring the action hero Jorma Tommila who never speaks a line of dialogue the entire film. They made a surprise sequel! And it’s already ready to hit theaters this November! A man returns to dismantle his family’s house after World War II, where they were killed during the war, then rebuild it elsewhere. When the killer, a Red Army commander, tracks him down, a brutal cross-country pursuit begins. Jorma Tommila returns to stars as the most badass Finnish to ever exist – Aatami Korpi. This time he’s facing off against Stephen Lang and Richard Brake, along with tons of Soviet soldiers. And his dog is back! Yep – this looks as gnarly and as intense as I was hoping, with so much brutal action to behold. The final 30 seconds of this trailer had me cackling with joy, it’s so awesome. Bring on the mayhem.

Here’s the first official trailer (+ poster) for Jalmari Helander’s Sisu: Road to Revenge, from YouTube:

Sisu 2: Road to Revenge Trailer

Sisu 2: Road to Revenge Trailer

Sisu 2: Road to Revenge Poster

Sisu 2: Road to Revenge is a wall-to-wall cinematic action event, a sequel to the original sleeper hit Sisu from 2022. Returning to the house where his family was brutally murdered during the war, “the man who refuses to die” (starring Jorma Tommila) dismantles it, loads it on a truck, and is determined to rebuild it somewhere safe in their honor. When the Red Army commander who killed his family (Stephen Lang from Don’t Breathe) comes back hellbent on finishing the job once and for all, a relentless, eye-popping cross-country chase ensues – a fight to the death, full of clever, unbelievable action set pieces. Sisu 2: Road to Revenge is once again written and directed by Finnish filmmaker Jalmari Helander, director of the first Sisu (trailer here), along with Rare Exports, Big Game, and the series “Wingman” previously. It’s produced by Petri Jokiranta and Mike Goodridge. Sony Pictures will drop Helander’s Sisu 2: Road to Revenge action sequel in theaters nationwide starting on November 21st, 2025 this fall. 🇫🇮 Who’s planning to watch it?

Jessie Buckley & Paul Mescal in Chloe Zhao’s ‘Hamnet’ Teaser Trailer

“What do you see?” “He will live…” Focus Features has unveiled the teaser trailer for the film Hamnet, a highly anticipated new film coming up this awards season. Hamnet is the latest feature directed by Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao, following her work on Marvel’s Eternals, this is her getting back to making something more meaningful and intimate. Hamnet tells the powerful story of love and loss that inspired the creation of Shakespeare’s timeless masterpiece, Hamlet. Jessie Buckley stars as Agnes Shakespeare, Paul Mescal as William Shakespeare set in the 16th century. It’s telling the story of Agnes – the wife of William Shakespeare – as she struggles to come to terms with the loss of her only son, Hamnet. A human and heart-stopping story as the backdrop to the creation of Shakespeare’s most famous play, Hamlet. TIFF describes it as a look at how The Bard was not a cold genius, he was “a real man whose literary prowess was irrevocably impacted by his domestic life.” The cast includes Joe Alwyn, Emily Watson, Jacobi Jupe, Jack Shalloo, David Wilmot. With a gorgeous new score by Max Richter which can be heard briefly in this teaser. This looks stunning! It’s going to be a very emotional story that will break us all down into tears. A must watch trailer.

Here’s the first teaser trailer for Chloé Zhao’s new film Hamnet, direct from Focus Features’ YouTube:

Hamnet Teaser Trailer

Hamnet Teaser Trailer

Intro via TIFF: “In William Shakespeare’s day, the names Hamlet & Hamnet were interchangeable. The newest film by Chloé Zhao uses that context as the basis for a tender exploration of Shakespeare’s domestic life, connecting a family tragedy to one of his most famous works. Maybe we can better understand Hamlet, Zhao suggests, if we consider that it was developed while the most famous writer in the Western canon was mourning the death of his 11-year-old son, Hamnet. Based on the novel by Maggie O’Farrell, Hamnet’s main character isn’t The Bard — played here by an impressive Paul Mescal — or even the child who gives the film its name. Hamnet belongs to Agnes – Shakespeare’s thoughtful wife, played by an enthralling Jessie Buckley, who bathes the film in her warmth. Many historical accounts preface reports of Hamnet’s death with statistics about how common child mortality was in the 16th century, as though it barely made an impact. Hamnet rejects that premise, showing Shakespeare not as a distant, untouchable genius but as a real man whose literary prowess was irrevocably impacted by his domestic [family] life.“

Hamnet is directed by the Oscar-winning Chinese filmmaker Chloé Zhao, director of the films Songs My Brothers Taught Me, The Rider, Nomadland, and Marvel’s Eternals previously. The screenplay is written by Maggie O’Farrell and Chloe Zhao; adapted from Maggie O’Farrell’s book also titled “Hamnet”. Produced by Liza Marshall, Pippa Harris, Nicolas Gonda, Sam Mendes, Steven Spielberg. This is premiering at the 2025 Telluride & Toronto Film Festivals this fall. Focus Features will then debut Chloe Zhao’s Hamnet film in select US theaters starting November 27th, 2025, on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, later this year before a wide expansion in more theaters in December. Stay tuned for updates. Looking good? Who wants to watch?

“We need to infiltrate further…” Apple has unveiled the first trailer for a thriller series titled The Savant, with episodes available for streaming starting in September running through November. This new series is based on the true story of an sneaky undercover investigator known as “The Savant” as she infiltrates online hate groups in an effort to stop domestic extremists before they act. The series is reportedly inspired by a true-life story originally published in Cosmopolitan in August 2019 about this “Savant” woman and what she achieved already. Jessica Chastain produces and stars in this new series as the mysterious woman at the center of the story. It follows the Savant, a top-secret investigator who infiltrates internet hate organizations to bring down the nation’s most violent men. The Apple TV+ series also stars Nnamdi Asomugha, Cole Doman, Jordana Spiro, Trinity Lee Shirley, Toussaint Francois Battiste, plus guest star Pablo Schreiber (as a bad guy?). With episodes directed by the filmmaker Matthew Heineman (Cartel Land, City of Ghosts, A Private War). This reminds me of a doc from this year called Hacking Hate also about a woman (from Sweden) who also infiltrates hate groups online and works to mess up their plans. Take a look.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Apple TV’s thriller series The Savant, direct from YouTube:

The Savant Series Trailer

The tense, high-stakes thriller follows an undercover investigator known as “The Savant” (starring Jessica Chastain) as she infiltrates online hate groups in an effort to stop domestic extremists before they act. The series is reportedly inspired by a true-life story entitled “Is It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?” which featured in Cosmopolitan in August 2019 of a woman who has come to be known as “the Savant” who infiltrates online hate-groups in order to prevent large-scale public attacks. The Savant is a series created by Canadian writer Melissa James Gibson, known for her many stage plays and writing on the series “The Americans”, “House of Cards”, and “Anatomy of a Scandal”. With additional writing from Frank Pugliese, Jerome Hairston, Amy Herzog, and James Anthony Tyler. Andrea Stanley, the writer of the original Cosmopolitan feature, serves as a consultant. And with episodes directed by acclaimed filmmaker Matthew Heineman (of Cartel Land, City of Ghosts, A Private War, Retrograde, American Symphony). Made by Fifth Season. Executive produced by Jessica Chastain, Kelly Carmichael, Alan Poul, Melissa James Gibson, Matthew Heineman, David Levine, Garrett Kemble. Apple will debut The Savant series streaming on Apple TV+ starting September 26th, 2025 with new eps out every week. Anyone into this? Intrigued?

See Ethan Hawke in ‘The Lowdown’ Trailer from FX, Sterlin Harjo

by jummy84 August 27, 2025
written by jummy84

A well-established trope in film noir is that the protagonist comes out somewhat worse for wear by the end of the story. From the looks of its trailer, FX’s forthcoming series The Lowdown will stay true to that.

As lead character Lee Raybon, Ethan Hawke gets beaten up (and manhandled, and shoved in the trunk of a car) a good amount in the trailer. The reason? Lee is a self-appointed “truthstorian” who is committed to exposing corruption in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which often gets him sideways with those in power.

The Lowdown is Sterlin Harjo’s follow-up to the critically hailed Reservation Dogs at FX. Watch the trailer for the “Tulsa noir” series below.

Danny DeVito talks 'It's Always Sunny' Season 17 Finale

Here’s how FX describes The Lowdown: “When the publication of Lee’s latest exposé — a deep dive into the powerful Washberg family — is immediately followed by the suspicious suicide of Dale Washberg (Tim Blake Nelson), the black sheep of the family, Lee knows he’s stumbled onto something big. Following a trail of breadcrumbs Dale has left behind, urging someone to dig deeper into the circumstances surrounding his death, Lee does just that. What Lee finds is that Betty Jo (Jeanne Tripplehorn), the grieving widow, seems to be more interested in her brother-in-law Donald Washberg (Kyle MacLachlan), a gubernatorial candidate, than in her dearly departed. And powerful forces want to prevent Lee from learning anything more.”

The series also stars Ryan Kiera Armstrong (Skeleton Crew, Hulu’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot) Kaniehtiio Horn (Reservation Dogs) and Keith David (Duster). Harjo created The Lowdown, which is set to premiere Sept. 23, and executive produces with Hawke, Garrett Basch and Ryan Hawke. FX Productions is the studio.

“You carry a burden of sin. You need liberation.” The first festival trailer has debuted for the next new film by acclaimed French filmmaker François Ozon, his second film this year following When Fall Is Coming released in the US earlier this year. It’s premiering at the 2025 Venice Film Festival underway this week as one of the Main Competition debuts. Set in 1930s Algeria, the film stars Benjamin Voisin as the apathetic Frenchman Meursault who displays total indifference to life. His emotional detachment leads to a murder, followed by a trial that scrutinizes both the crime and his character. It’s an adaptation of the famous Albert Camus novel of the same name (L’Étranger), first published in 1942 by the French philosopher. Ozon states for the record: “It was an immense challenge to adapt a masterpiece that everyone has read and that every reader has already staged in their own mind.” The film features Voisin, Rebecca Marder, Pierre Lottin, Denis Lavant, and Swann Arlaud. The film is presented in B&W as an intriguing tale of murder, but also as a look back at France’s connection with Algeria. Watch for reviews from the fests + check out the footage.

The Stranger Poster

Intro via Venice: “Algiers, 1938. Meursault, a quiet and unassuming employee in his early thirties, attends his mother’s funeral without shedding a tear. The next day, he begins a casual affair with Marie, a work colleague, and quickly slips back into his usual routine. However, his daily life is soon disrupted by his neighbour, Raymond Sintès, who draws Meursault into his shady dealings — until, on one blisteringly hot day, a tragic event occurs on a beach.” The Stranger, originally known as L’étranger in French, is written and directed by prolific French filmmaker François Ozon, director of the films Sitcom, Criminal Lovers, Under the Sand, 8 Women, Potiche, In the House, Young & Beautiful, The New Girlfriend, Frantz, Double Lover, By the Grace of God, and Summer of 85, Everything Went Fine, Peter von Kant, The Crime Is Mine, and When Fall Is Coming previously. It’s also produced by Ozon; co-produced by Marie-Jeanne Pascal. This is premiering at the 2025 Venice Film Festival playing in the Main Competition section. The film will first open in France starting October 29th, 2025 this fall. No other release dates are set – stay tuned for more.

The wait is finally over as the trailer for the highly-expected comedy-thriller Ek Chatur Naar has been released and it’s a rollercoaster of madness, comedy, and methodical deception. Divya Khossla and Neil Nitin Mukesh are seen starring in leading roles in the film, which promises a plot full of mind games, secrets, and comedy that will leave audiences entertained till the final moment.

A Perfect Blend of Mystery and Madness

Directed by Umesh Shukla, Ek Chatur Naar delves into a world where everyone appears to have a different identity from the one they claim to be. The trailer capitalizes on the curiosity generated by the teaser by delving deeper into the warped chemistry between actors. Against the knife’s edge of manipulation and cunning, the tale weaves suspense with comedy, serving up a cocktail of high-stakes drama and clever one-liners.

Neil Nitin Mukesh infuses his character with a smooth, enigmatic twist, and Divya Khossla makes an appearance in a bold and intelligent avatar that keeps us guessing. As secrets begin to unravel and allegiances come into question, the movie balances its humor with taut tension, rendering the trailer a thrilling primer for what is to follow.

Power-Packed Ensemble Cast

Aside from the leads, Ek Chatur Naar has a great supporting cast that adds to the plot. The trailer teases glimpses of noted actors such as Chhaya Kadam, Sushant Singh, Rajniesh Duggal, Zakir Hussain, Yashpal Sharma, Heli Daruwala, Rose Sardana, and Geeta Agarwal Sharma all seemingly portraying characters with ulterior motives.

Their presence not only deepens the plot but also guarantees a gamut of performances from quirky to intense. With everybody keeping a secret, the story is like a puzzle, and the audience is encouraged to play along.

Behind the Scenes and Release Details

Directed by Umesh Shukla, who has given us films such as OMG – Oh My God! and 102 Not Out, this film comes from the house of T-Series and produced under the Merry Go Round Studios banner. The film is produced by Umesh Shukla, Ashish Wagh, and Zeeshan Ahmad, getting a trio of producers well experienced in making quality films with that added zing.

Releasing Soon

Ek Chatur Naar will be releasing in theatres on 12th September 2025. With its rich blend of suspense and wit, and a plot that constantly surprises, the movie is ready to be a genre-buster. Buckle up for a crazy, clever ride where brains are the survival mechanism.

“Now and again, he gets in over his head…” FX has unveiled an official trailer for a streaming series called The Lowdown, a Tulsa, Oklahoma thriller about a journalist who digs too deep into the underbelly of a dangerous local family. Created by filmmaker Sterlin Harjo of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma. Ethan Hawke stars as Lee Raybon. It follows the gritty exploits of citizen journalist Lee, a self-proclaimed Tulsa “truthstorian” whose obsession with the truth is always getting him into trouble… A determined bookstore owner in Tulsa moonlights as an investigative journalist, digging into local corruption. When his reporting uncovers sinister connections within, he must protect both his family and the truth. Lee has also gained the attention of a mysterious stranger who seems to appear whenever Lee least expects it: refined and suave, Marty shares Lee’s appreciation of great literary minds, and seems unusually interested in his investigation into the Washbergs. The ensemble features Keith David, Kyle MacLachlan, Kaniehtiio Horn, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Scott Shepherd, Siena East, Cody Lightning, Michael “Killer Mike” Render, Tim Blake Nelson, and Tracy Letts. Aside from the recent series “Tulsa King” also set in Tulsa, this also reminds me of the “Fargo” series. Though this looks much funnier than those two.

Here’s the main official trailer (+ poster) for FX’s thriller series The Lowdown, direct from YouTube:

The Lowdown Series Trailer

The Lowdown Poster

Lee (Ethan Hawke) lives and works in a rare bookstore tucked in the heart of Tulsa – a local refuge and unofficial community hub. While no idealist, he’s fiercely committed to exposing corruption & unearthing the city’s hidden rot, even when it puts him at risk. His sleuthing pulls him deep into Tulsa’s underbelly – and often away from his 14-year-old daughter Francis (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), a precocious kid who’s inherited his curiosity and longs to join him. His ex Samantha (Kaniehtiio Horn) is exasperated by Lee’s endless digging, but still sees the good in him – especially when it comes to Francis, the one thing they’ve never stopped showing up for. When the publication of his latest exposé – a deep dive into the powerful Washberg family – is immediately followed by the suspicious death of Dale Washberg (Tim Blake Nelson), the black sheep of the family, Lee knows he’s stumbled onto something big. Following the trailer that Dale has left behind, urging someone to dig deeper into the circumstances surrounding his death, Lee does just that. And what Lee discovers is that Betty Jo (Jeanne Tripplehorn), the grieving widow, seems to be more interested in her brother-in-law Donald Washberg (Kyle MacLachlan), a gubernatorial candidate, than in her dearly departed. And powerful forces want to prevent Lee from learning anything more about them…

The Lowdown is a series created by Native American writer / director Sterlin Harjo (Seminole Nation of Oklahoma), director of the indie films Mekko and Love and Fury previously, plus episodes of the “Reservoir Dogs” FX series recently. With writing by Duffy Boudreau, Sterlin Harjo, Sneha Koorse, Olivia Purnell, Scott Teems. And featuring episodes directed by Sterlin Harjo, Macon Blair, Danis Goulet. It’s produced by FX Productions. Executive produced by Garrett Basch, Sterlin Harjo, Ethan Hawke, Ryan Hawke. FX will debut The Lowdown series streaming on Hulu starting on September 23rd, 2025 coming soon. Look any good?
