Emmerdale’s Kev Townsend threatens Mackenzie Boyd amid Robron drama

Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) has waded in on the latest Robron drama in Emmerdale, and in turn has crossed the wrong man, devious convict Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill).

It comes after Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) made a public display of affection for his husband in The Woolpack, right in front of ex-hubby Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).

It was a bizarre feeling for Aaron. Prior to Kev’s arrival, the two seemed to be on the right track to a full-scale reunion, but that’s now been blown out of the water.

To make matters worse, the criminal delivered a seriously low blow when he referenced Aaron’s childhood sexual abuse – something which only Robert could’ve told him.

Returning home, Aaron was shocked to find Kev in the flat. He warned that if Aaron was to meddle in his marriage again, he’d kill him. Let’s face it, Kev doesn’t seem like the sort of fella to beat around the bush.

In tonight’s episode, Mack clocked that Aaron was down in the dumps and urged him to open up about what had happened. He explained that he’d had a run in with Kev, and any hopes of the #Robron love story continuing had been quashed.

After watching his best pal wander off with his tail between his legs, Mack headed to Woodbine Cottage to stage a confrontation.

He introduced himself to Kev – who was donning a pinafore and baking a lemon drizzle cake – and asked about what had happened.

Menacing Kev made it clear that he doesn’t dish out threats without truly meaning them, and told Mackenzie that if he wanted to “keep those pretty looks” he’d keep out of other people’s business.

This information was then relaid to Aaron, who said he’s come to terms with the fact that he doesn’t love Robert anymore and that the feeling is mutual.

Mack clearly didn’t believe him, and wondered whether the only reason Robert had shacked up with Kev in the first place was because they were both behind bars and had fallen onto one another’s arms for company.

After branding Kev a “psycho cake baker” (good one, Mack), it seemed like he wasn’t willing to let the matter drop. A new feud has begun.

But will Mackenzie regret crossing Kev’s path?

Taylor Townsend has issued an apology after her comments about Chinese food sparked reactions on social media. The athlete’s response comes shortly after folks accused her of being culturally insensitive.

Taylor Townsend Apologizes After Mocking Exotic Buffet Dishes

Recently, Taylor Townsend shared videos on Instagram apologizing for previous remarks about the food in China. NBC News reports that Townsend is currently in the Chinese tech hub of Shenzhen for the Billie Jean King Cup finals. For context, Taylor posted videos on her IG Story questioning some of the food displays at a buffet, which she revealed included bull frogs and soft-shelled turtles.

Reactions to her comments has caused Townsend to take accountability. She also said she enjoys traveling and doesn’t take her career for granted.. Still, she admitted there’s no excuse for her words.

“The things that I said were not representative of that at all and I just truly wanted to apologize. There is no excuse, there is no words. For me, I will be better.” Taylor said.

Here’s What Taylor Said About The Food In China

Before Taylor apologized, she posted several videos on social media sharing her shock and concern after seeing the food in China. Some of the dishes included turtle, sea cucumber, and bull frogs. While showing the meals, she added a caption to one video writing, “This is the craziest thing I’ve ever seen… and people eating this.” She continued, “Imma have to talk to HR… because what the hell… turtle and bull frog is wild.”

Folks over in The Shade Room’s comment section said they didn’t think Taylor needed to apologize, they believed she had a right to express her feelings about the food. Others gave her props for admitting she was wrong. See some of their reactions below.

Naomi Osaka Slams Jelena Ostapenko’s Worst Comment To Taylor Townsend

Naomi Osaka has weighed in on the heated on-court drama between Latvian tennis star Jelena Ostapenko and African-American champion Taylor Townsend during their U.S. Open match on Wednesday (Aug. 27). The showdown ended with Townsend coming out on top, 7-5 and 6-1.

After shaking hands, Ostapenko was seen having an intense exchange with Townsend accusing her of having “no class” and “no education” after the Chicago native refused to apologize for benefiting from a net cord. The latter happens when a ball clips the net before dropping in play.

Townsend, however, held her ground and reportedly told her opponent, “No, I don’t have to say sorry.”

The exchange didn’t sit right with fellow Tennis champ, Osaka, who didn’t mince words when asked about the controversy.

“I think obviously it’s one of the worst things you can say to a Black tennis player in a majority White sport,” the 27-year-old four-time Grand Slam champion told reporters. “And granted, I know Taylor and I know how hard she’s worked and I know how smart she is, so she’s the furthest thing from uneducated or anything like that.”

Osaka, who has faced Ostapenko on the court multiple times, then hinted that this isn’t the first time the player has crossed a line. “If you’re genuinely asking me about the history of Ostapenko, I don’t think that’s the craziest thing she’s said,” she admitted. “I think it’s ill timing and the worst person you could have ever said it to. And I don’t know if she knows the history of it in America.”

Speaking to ESPN after the match, Townsend said, “People get upset when they lose. Some people say bad things.” She later doubled down in a press conference, explaining, “There’s no beef. But again, like you guys saw, I didn’t back down because you’re not going to insult me, especially after I carried myself with nothing but respect. If I show respect to you, I expect respect as well.”

Ostapenko, on the other hand, took to Instagram Stories to defend herself, denying any racist intent. “Wow how many messages I received that I am a racist. I was NEVER racist in my life and I respect all nations of people in the world, for me it doesn’t matter where you come from,” she wrote. She maintained that Townsend was “disrespectful” for not following what she described as unwritten tennis courtesy.

While Ostapenko insisted she meant no harm, Osaka says she believes the backlash will make the tennis player think twice in the future. “I know she’s never going to say that ever again in her life,” Osaka forshadowed. “But yeah, I mean, it was just terrible. Like, that’s just really bad.”

Robert Townsend wanted to blindly hire Beyoncé to star as Carmen Brown in the MTV film, Carmen: A Hip Hopera, and watched Queen Bey “blossom” right before his eyes.

In conversation with Lena Waithe for Legacy Talk, Townsend reflected on the singer’s audition for her acting debut in the 2001 film.

“I didn’t know Beyoncé […] I knew of her and I was like, ‘Wow, she has a striking look.’ You know, she’s a beautiful, young girl, but I could see that she had something special. ‘Cause [with] my director eyes, I go, ‘Something’s going on with her. She’s got something,’” he remembered. Townsend felt Bey was perfect for the role, but the studio demanded that she audition for it.

With this being her first audition ever, Townsend could tell that Bey was “really nervous” and used her team to strengthen her performance.

“I have an arsenal when it comes to getting performance or making somebody comfortable,” he explained before detailing he told her bodyguard and the label executive who accompanied Bey to be part of the scene as well.

Ironically, Townsend admitted, “They started to sweat and really get nervous and then she was watching them get nervous and she got stronger. I said, ‘Oh, there it is.’” Bey was so excited and asked to repeat the scene a few more times and even requested to do the “death scene.” (For those who haven’t seen Carmen: A Hip Hopera, yes, her character dies.)

Townsend was clearly impressed and later praised Beyoncé, her tenacity, and star power.

“Watching her blossom into the superstar that she has become, I saw it in that room because there’s certain actors/actresses’ first audition, they wouldn’t go all the way there. She went all the way there,” he said proudly.

Taylor Townsend got into quite a spat with opponent Jelena Ostapenko after beating the latter during an August 2025 match. The American tennis player said the Latvian athlete accused her of having “no class” and “no education,” which sparked public interest over Taylor’s background. So, did she go to college, and why would Jelena allegedly insult her with that comment?

During a post-match interview with ESPN, Taylor pointed out that “people get upset when they lose” and that “some people say bad things.” She further alleged that Jelena said to her face, “I have no education and to see what happens when we get outside the U.S., so I’m looking forward to it.”

“I mean, I beat her in Canada, outside the U.S. I beat her in New York [inside] the U.S., so let’s see what else she has to say,” Taylor added.

Jelena followed up by sharing her own statement to her Instagram Stories, accusing Taylor of being “very disrespectful.”

“Her answer was that she doesn’t have to say sorry at all,” Jelena added in her message. “There are some rules of tennis which most of the players follow and it was first time ever that this happened to me on tour. If she plays in her homeland it doesn’t mean that she can behave and do whatever she wants.”

Competition is heating up in the second round of the US Open.

Following Jelena “Alona” Ostapenko’s 5-7, 1-6 loss to American Taylor Townsend Aug. 27, the Latvian tennis player allegedly had a few choice words for her opponent.

During their post-match handshake, the former French Open champion appeared to call out Townsend for not apologizing earlier during play when she hit a net cord, where the ball hits the top of the net but remains in play. (While many players make a habit of holding a hand up to apologize for a successful net cord, there is no official rule forcing a player to show remorse.)

After the interaction—which included multiple verbal exchanges and was drowned out by the crowd booing in response—Townsend detailed the moment during her on-court interview.

“It’s competition, people get upset when they lose and some people say bad things,” she explained of Ostapenko. “She told me I have no class, I have no education and to see what happens when we get outside the U.S.”
