“This is what conservation looks like.” Kaleidoscope Ent. has unveiled an official trailer for a documentary film titled simply Rhino, a vital story about saving rhinos in Kenya. Narrated by Academy Award-nominee Tom Hardy, the film follows an audacious mission to save the critically endangered black rhino against impossible odds. A dedicated wildlife ranger has protected his black rhino population so well (there’s only roughly ~6000 left in the world), that they have now run out of space. Hemmed in by ruthless bandits, the rhinos risk turning on each other. His team launches a major plan to move 21 rhinos across the country to provide a new safe haven. Highlighting the daily struggles experienced by those risking their lives to protect biodiversity, whilst simultaneously giving voice to those on the other side of the armed conflict, this hard-hitting, authentic film – crafted from 4 years of living & working within Kenya’s conservancy community – is both timely and urgent, as banditry violence spirals out of control, and the demand for illicit rhino horn climbs ever higher. Yep this looks like a thrilling and invigorating watch! Save these rhinos! We always need to share good stories like this – inspiring and especially moving in soulful, exhilarating ways. 🦏 Take a look.

Here’s the first official trailer (+ poster) for Tom Martienssen’s doc film Rhino, direct from YouTube:

A unique eco-thriller, and story of resilience and victory in the fight to protect our natural world, narrated by Oscar-nominee Tom Hardy, and directed by cinematographer Tom Martienssen. With only 6000 black rhinos left on earth, one dedicated wildlife ranger, Kiloku, has made it his life mission to protect the species against all odds. With ~5% of the global population being poached each year, Kiloku’s team in Kenya has not lost a single rhino in nearly 10 years… A remarkable achievement, but one that does not come without consequences. They are running out of space. Hemmed in by ruthless bandits, the rhinos at his sanctuary risk turning on each other in a deathmatch for territory. With the help of a newly qualified ranger named Rita, the pair launch an audacious plan to move a group of the formidable herd to a new safe haven, 60 miles west. A potentially deadly mission, but one that the team are willing to risk their lives for in order to help launch a new population, and further Kenya’s incredible ongoing conservation efforts.

Rhino is a documentary film directed by acclaimed cinematographer / doc filmmaker Tom Martienssen, director of TV doc Gaucho: The Last Cowboys of Patagonia and a few other shorts; plus a cinematographer on many other adventure & nature docs. Produced by James May, Cassandra Roberts, Tom Martienssen. This hasn’t premiered at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Kaleidoscope debuts Martienssen’s Rhino doc in UK cinemas starting on November 28th, 2025 this fall. No US release is set yet – stay tuned.

Demi Moore says Tom Cruise was ‘embarrassed’ by her pregnancy while filming A Few Good Men

written by jummy84

Demi Moore recently recalled a memorable moment with her co-star Tom Cruise during the filming of A Few Good Men. Speaking during an interview with writer Jia Tolentino at the New Yorker Festival on October 25, 2025, Moore shared that she was nearly eight months pregnant with her daughter, Scout Willis, during the film’s preproduction stage.

“I think Tom was quite embarrassed,” Moore told the audience. “I actually felt okay about it. I was moving around, though, right? But I could tell he felt that it was a bit awkward.”

The actress explained that Cruise’s reaction likely mirrored the norms of that period, when few Hollywood women were expecting children while working on major productions. At the time, Moore was one of the few leading actresses navigating both motherhood and a high-profile career, People reported.

“It’s one of the many things, for me, that I just felt didn’t make sense. And so I challenged that to say, you know, ‘Why not? Why can’t you have both?” she said. The Substance star added that she put immense pressure on herself to show women could maintain successful careers while raising families.

Moore on balancing pregnancy and acting demands

Moore admitted that she became “an overachiever” while trying to balance her pregnancy with work. “I look back at that time now, and I go, ‘What the f*** was I thinking?’” she said, reflecting on the challenges of rehearsing while heavily pregnant.

She also recalled breastfeeding and blocking scenes soon after giving birth. The actress noted that Hollywood now provides a more supportive environment for mothers, compared to the expectations she faced in the early 1990s.

Staying active before giving birth

Preparing for her role as a Navy lawyer in A Few Good Men, Moore stayed unusually active during her pregnancy. The Ghost star said she anticipated too much while trying to work out and get into a military uniform. “I did a two-and-a-half-hour hike the day my water broke, a 24-mile bike ride, and danced at a reggae club, hence why she came two-and-a-half weeks early,” the Indecent Proposal actress explained.

Moore added that she is proud that younger actresses no longer need to “prove themselves” the way she once felt she had to, saying the industry now allows women to embrace both motherhood and ambition without guilt.

Did ‘Jeopardy!’ Champion Tom Devlin Make It Four in a Row?

by jummy84 October 24, 2025
written by jummy84

What To Know

  • Tom Devlin, a three-day Jeopardy! champion with $73,199 in winnings, competed for his fourth consecutive win against Shaan Mishra and Kristina Pohribnij.
  • Despite leading throughout most of the game and making bold wagers on Daily Doubles, Mishra and Pohribnij each held their own against the champ.
  • The Final Jeopardy was a nail-biter as it was anyone’s game.

Would returning Jeopardy! champion Tom Devlin, an attorney from Washington, D.C., keep his hot streak alive for a fourth straight game? Ahead of Friday’s (October 24) new game, he’d racked up an impressive three-day total of $73,199 in winnings, but Friday’s cutthroat game stood to put his reign to the test. If he won, Devlin only needed one more to make it to the Tournament of Champions.

In the game, Devlin went up against management consultant Shaan Mishra from Carmel, Indiana, and stay-at-home mom Kristina Pohribnij from Palatine, Illinois, both determined to dethrone the reigning Jeopardy! champ.

Devlin began the first round by picking “The National Toy Hall of Fame” for $800, which yielded the clue: “Josefina Montoya & Addy Walker are part of the historical characters series of these dolls inducted in 2021.” Pohribnij buzzed in with the correct answer, “What are the American Girl dolls?”

The round’s Daily Double was discovered by Devlin in “Movie Last Lines” for $1,600. Wagering $1,600 on the clue “1987: ‘Grandpa? Maybe you could come over & read it again to me tomorrow’; ‘As you wish,’” Devlin answered correctly with “What is The Princess Bride?,” doubling his score to $3,200.

Before the first ad break, Devlin was in the lead with $7,400, while Pohribnij came in second with $2,600 and Mishra in third place with $600. By the end of the round, Devlin maintained his lead with a total of $9,000, as Pohribnij earned $4,400 and Mishra nabbed $2,600.

In Double Jeopardy, the first Daily Double was discovered by Devlin under “Acronyms” for $1,000. Devil wagered a hefty $5,000 on the answer, “What is ANZAC?,” lifting him to $16,000.

The third Daily Double of the game was found by Mishra under “You “SC” & You “CLA” for $2,000. He bet $5,000 on the clue: “If you don’t fire ’til you see the whites of their eyes, you’re waiting to see this, which covers 5/6 of the eyeball.” With the correct answer of “What is the sclera?” bringing with total to $5,800.

During Double Jeopardy, Devlin answered nine clues correctly, but Pohribnij and Mishra gave him a run for his money, holding their own with several strong responses. By the end of the round, however, it still wasn’t enough to overtake the reigning Jeopardy! champ, as they entered Final Jeopardy with totals of $22,800 for Devlin, $15,600 for Mishra — which moved him to second place — and $10,800 for Pohribnij.

The Final Jeopardy category was “Relics,” with the clue “Missionary William Ellis reported in 1825 that his ‘bones were preserved…& were considered sacred by the people’ of Hawaii.” The answer was “Who was Captain James Cook?” Pohribnij answered incorrectly with “Who is Father Damien?,” to which host Ken Jennings responded, “That makes sense, but I’m afraid it’s not Father Damien, Kristina.” She wagered $5,000, bringing her total to $5,800.

Devlin also incorrectly wrote, “Who is Father Damien?” With his wager of $8,401, his new total was then $14,399, losing the lead. But will he lose the game to Mishra?

Mishra wrote, “Who is Cook???,” the correct answer. With a wager of $0, Mishra kept his total at $15,600, enough to steal the title of “Jeopardy! champ” from Devlin as he won the game.

“It’s evolution and you can’t stop it!” What a strange line of dialogue. Well Go USA has revealed an official trailer for the movie Altered, a sci-fi thriller from Finnish filmmaker Timo Vuorensola. After his two Iron Sky movies, and action movies like 97 Minutes, this is his next project and seems pretty bad. In an alternate present society rebuilt after a nuclear war, genetically enhanced humans dominate society. But not everyone has genetics – regular people are called “Specials.” Outcasts Leon and Chloe fight for justice against corrupt politicians exploiting genetic disparity, risking everything to challenge the oppressive system. Altered stars Tom Felton as the hero Leon, with Elizaveta Bugulova, Richard Brake, Aggy K. Adams, and Igor Zhizhikin. They shot this in Kazakhstan and the future city in this is just a VFX-enhanced version of the city Astana. The rest of it looks like one big “huh?!” Set to debut in November if anyone wants to give it a go.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Timo Vuorensola’s sci-fi movie Altered, direct from YouTube:

“Fight the system. Change the world.” In an alternate present where genetic enhancements have become the norm, those who cannot take advantage are pushed into the underground. It’s up to a few brave souls to level the playing field for everyone, but every revolution has its cost. From Timo Vuorensola, visionary director of Iron Sky, and Tom Felton comes an exciting new tale of a dystopian Earth in need of a hero in Altered. Altered is written and directed by Finnish filmmaker Timo Vuorensola, director of the famous Iron Sky Nazi action movie and its sequel Iron Sky: The Coming Race, as well as Jeepers Creepers: Reborn and 97 Minutes recently, plus a few other short films. It’s produced by Andreas Klein, Marko Moellers, Doris Pfardrescher, Juris Razgulajevs. Filmed mostly in Kazakhstan. Well Go USA will debut Timo Vuorensola’s Altered film in select US theaters + on VOD starting November 21st, 2025 this fall. Who wants to watch?

Gisele Bündchen is now a proud mom of three — and she’s been soaking up life with her newest addition. The 45-year-old supermodel quietly welcomed her first child with boyfriend Joaquim Valente earlier this year, with TMZ breaking the news in February. At the time, sources said Gisele was “super happy,” and both she and the baby were healthy following the private birth.

Motherhood has always been a good look for the bombshell — and in a 2023 interview, she admitted that she defines success in terms other than fashion. “I think, for me, success means that I have raised children who have right values,” she told PEOPLE at the time.

“You know what I mean? Because then, whenever I’m ready to leave, I know I have left something behind that is beautiful and that is an asset versus something different. It makes me proud to see how they’re all becoming their own little individual selves, but how their principles and their values are so strong. It makes me so happy to see that, they’re flourishing into their own beings.”

Here’s everything to know about her kids below.

Benjamin Rein Brady (Tom Brady)

Gisele and ex-husband Tom Brady, who were married from 2009-2022, welcomed their first child Benjamin Rein Brady on December 8, 2009 in Boston. He’s now 15 years old. “Happy birthday to the sweetest and funniest boy on earth,” the proud mama shared via Instagram Stories on his 15th birthday last December. “You have the biggest heart and it’s amazing to see you grow into an incredible young man. Ti amo muito (“I love you so much.”)

Vivan Lake Brady (Tom Brady)

Vivian Lake Brady, Gisele’s little lookalike, was born to the former couple on December 5, 2012, also in Boston. She’s now 12 years old, and is frequently seen enjoying equestrian lessons as her proud mother looks on. In a December 5 set of Instagram Stories, Gisele gushed over her “ray of sunshine.” “You are the best daughter a mom could ever ask for and I’m so blessed to be your mama!” she wrote.

Unnamed Baby With Joaquim Valente

On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, TMZ reported the arrival of Gisele’s third child, her first with Joachim. No date of birth was revealed, but the outlet claimed it was “recently.” “Gisele and Joaquim are happy for this new chapter in their life and they’re looking forward to creating a peaceful and loving environment for the whole family,” a source reportedly told PEOPLE of the impending arrival, back in October.

In October 2025, Gisele offered fans a rare, heartfelt look into her life as a mother of three. She posted an Instagram carousel featuring her 8-month-old baby alongside her older children, Benjamin and Vivian.

Though she hasn’t shared the baby’s first name, sources previously revealed his middle name is reported to be River.

Tom Pelphrey Breaks Down Robbie’s Tense Car Ride With Mark Ruffalo’s Tom (Exclusive)

by jummy84 October 6, 2025
written by jummy84

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Task, Season 1 Episode 5, “Vagrants.”]

Task‘s latest episode put Robbie Prendergast (Tom Pelphrey) on a collision course, careening with the FBI’s Tom Brandis (Mark Ruffalo) and the Dark Hearts, as a path of escape for his criminal pursuits closed in, “Vagrants.”

The installment found Robbie frantic as he tried locating Cliff (Raúl Castillo) following his run-in with the Dark Hearts, and after a meet-up with Erin (Margarita Levieva), it was clear to him that Jayson (Sam Keeley) was the culprit responsible for Cliff’s absence and apparent demise. Robbie also sought out a way to sell the drugs he’d stolen from the gang, opting to team with Shelley (Mickey Sumner) to offload the goods in exchange for cash.

Putting himself in danger, Robbie met with dealer Freddie Frias (Elvis Nolasco) to come to a deal. Eventually, Robbie went home to find Maeve (Emilia Jones) had taken Sam (Ben Doherty), and we learn she’s turned him into the FBI, cooperating with the feds. But that wasn’t before Dark Hearts boss Perry (Jamie McShane) showed up to look around the property, claiming he needed to grab some items that belonged to her dad.

Peter Kramer / HBO

With the walls essentially closing in, Robbie prepared to leave the house, but was met by Tom Brandis in the driveway, who claimed he was there to seek out Maeve in regards to her father Billy’s cold case. He talks his way into the house and is communicating with task force member, Anthony Grasso (Fabien Frankel), unaware he’s a crooked agent, but their texts are interrupted when Tom is sent a sketch resembling Robbie as the suspect who kidnapped Sam.

Robbie holds a gun to Tom’s head and forces him into his car, taking him hostage, as they drive down the highway. Robbie and Tom’s discussion revolves around life after death and their views of the world. All the while, Robbie tells Tom about everything he knows, ranging from Jayson being responsible for Billy and Cliff’s deaths to him hitting houses in retaliation for his brother’s loss.

The candid conversation occurs while Robbie has a gun to Tom’s back, but as he directs the FBI agent down a dirt road, he instructs him towards a lake and asks that Tom make sure Maeve isn’t held responsible for his actions, freeing the agent and continuing on his own path. When Tom gets in touch with his team, they pick him up, and they track the car Robbie took through the satellite radio. Little do most of the agents know, apart from Grasso, that the Dark Hearts are also in pursuit of Robbie, and everything is about to converge.

As Tom calls out to Robbie from the edge of a river, the Dark Hearts have also closed in, but what’s next? Only time will tell. As for Robbie finally colliding with Tom, Pelphrey tells TV Insider, “it’s such a beautiful juxtaposition. One of the things I was struck by between Robbie and Tom is that here you have this ex-priest who’s, in a very real way, grappling with loss of faith, what faith means, and his own understanding of god. On the other hand, you have Robbie who, in a strange way, lives in faith.”

Viewers get a taste of this in the opening and closing moments, in which Robbie takes water and rubs it on his chest, a practice he and his brother took up before jumping into the cool waters of the quarry to swim in the winter months. While he claimed he did it to keep from having his heart explode, the action is more loaded in the final minutes as he seems to get ready for whatever action is ahead.

“Now, he says he doesn’t believe in God, so he’s not living in a sort of religious faith, but he’s constantly saying things happen for a reason, and he’s acting like things happen for a reason,” Pelphrey explains of Robbie’s approach. “I found that to be more of a subtle way that they’re kind of an interesting opposite side of the same coin, Tom and Robbie.”

For episode director and executive producer Jeremiah Zagar, things were a little trickier behind the scenes than they appear onscreen. “A hard scene was the scene in the car with Robbie and Tom just because it was like 99 degrees and they didn’t have any air conditioning and they were sweating bullets and the equipment was bumping around,” he reveals. “Sometimes the things that seem easy are often incredibly difficult.”

Despite external challenges with heat and cameras in small spaces, Zagar credits Pelphrey and Ruffalo with delivering emotionally during that key moment. “That scene is the core of the show. I think that’s what you’re waiting for the entire season, in some ways, and that scene has to pay off in its utter simplicity,” Zagar points out. “It’s a testament to Mark and to Tom. They’re such incredible actors, and they lived in those characters’ skin for so long.”

See what’s next for Tom and Robbie as Task continues on HBO, and let us know what you thought of the heart-pounding episode’s ending in the comments section.

Alejandro G. Iñárritu on ‘Amores Perros’ and His New Tom Cruise Movie

by jummy84 October 4, 2025
written by jummy84

It’s opening day of Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another,” and Alejandro González Iñárritu is worried about how it will play with audiences. “I just cross my fingers that people go in millions,” he told me. “I hope, because it’s so important.”

We are talking on Zoom, and of course, Iñárritu is rooting for PTA: He’s a fellow auteur who makes expensive original movies with movie stars. (BTW, the $130-million movie opened to $22 million.) For his part, Iñárritu just wrapped principal photography in April on an untitled comedy ensemble led by Tom Cruise and produced by Legendary for Warner Bros.

The Mexican filmmaker is directing his first English-language movie since 2015’s “The Revenant,” which won “One Battle After Another” star Leonardo DiCaprio his first Oscar. The untitled Cruise comedy, shot in 35-millimeter VistaVision by three-time Oscar-winner Emmanuel “Chivo” Lubezki, should come out sometime next fall. The director is in the editing room.

“We’re going to finish in February, March,” he said. “We still have a long way [in] post-production.”

Even though both Iñárritu and Cruise are powerful, controlling perfectionists on a movie production, “it was the most amazing, unexpected, sweet, gentle relation that I have had on a set,” Iñárritu said. “His manners, his understanding, his passion, and his integrity, and the way he prepares. He loves the process. Filmmaking has been his life for 40 years. I have never seen somebody so devoted. I was happy to share with him that passion. And at the same time, we built an incredible relation of mutual trust. He will surprise the world. People will see a new kind of thing. It was blessed, and not only him, but all the cast: Riz Ahmed, Sandra Hüller, John Goodman, and Jesse Plemons. We had a blast. It was challenging, but it was wild comedy. And we laugh a lot. We have a wild time.”

But we are not Zooming to talk about Cruise. This May, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of “Amores Perros,” Iñárritu’s daring triptych debut feature, shot in Mexico City and introducing Gael García Bernal, the director screened the restored 4K version at Cannes to a packed house. The movie holds up: It’s vivid, loud, assaultive, and violent, from the visceral dogfights (no animals were harmed) to the glam model (Goya Toledo) who is forever mutilated in a car crash. A brand-new 5.1 surround sound mix by Jon Taylor at NBCUniversal StudioPost enhances the intensity.

The director hesitated to watch the film at the Cannes Classics showing. He had undergone the painstaking Criterion restoration for the 20th anniversary in 2020 with cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto, but had only watched the film in bits and pieces.

“I hadn’t seen the film complete in 25 years,” he said. “The film was shot in a bleach-bypass process, or silver retain, which is a very corrosive thing, because the silver stays in the negative. So we have to restore a lot of things. [I thought] what young man did that? And all the effort that it took for all of us who did the film, the amount of work, considering the little money we have, and so little time. What I can tell you is that I was impressed by the muscle. It hasn’t become a flaccid film.”

“Amores Perros” played Cannes 25 years ago, but not in Competition, where it was roundly rejected before it went to the selection committee. Luckily, it was invited to Critics’ Week, won the Grand Prix, and landed a North American release in 2001 from Lionsgate. The rest is history. It launched the careers of Iñárritu, 19-year-old García Bernal, and Prieto, among others. After the screening, a grateful and teary García Bernal said, “It’s a film that we all were transformed, and even the way in Mexico we were perceived, the films were transformed.”

“Even when we were a very small independent film in a very small section that is not even official, it became the film that everybody wanted to see,” said Iñárritu. The film was nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar; the writer, director, and producer went on to win Best Director for “Birdman” and “The Revenant,” and Original Screenplay and Best Picture (“Birdman”).

When they made “Amores Perros,” the filmmaker explained, the Mexican film industry was producing only five to seven local films a year from the same few directors, with a nationalistic flavor, subsidized by the government. Maybe one would wind up in theaters. “Every director that I knew at that time, they [had] just made one film,” he said. “And they were already 50 years old. A film was considered a one-time opportunity, and you better make sure that you put all you have to say there.”

Also based in Mexico City, novelist Guillermo Arriaga wrote the screenplay for “Amores Perros,” “an incredible, solid, complex script,” said Iñárritu. “Mexico City is a complex city with incredible ancient culture with visual traditions. It has the third most museums in the world. And we were middle-class, educated. So we can see and observe: low, high, wherever. We were having access to many things.”

The “Amores Perros” team had been working together making commercials and videos for seven years. They were already quite sophisticated. “We were all Chilango, so we knew exactly how that city smells and feels,” said Iñárritu. “There was a new government coming, that threw out the party dictatorship of 70 years. So there was hope and a feeling that we need[ed] to shake who we were, how we talk about ourselves, how we see ourselves. This film came into the right moment.”

Iñárritu has written an essay about making the film for Mack Books’ just-published “Amores Perros” book, which also showcases unseen set photography, critical essays, and production documents. And “Sueño Perro: Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Celluloid Installation” is making the rounds, starting at Fondazione Prada in Milan and LagoAlgo in Mexico City, and then moving in February to LACMA in Los Angeles.

Back in 2020, “Amores Perros,” which runs two hours and 37 minutes, was edited down from 1 million feet of material. “That means 15,000 feet of film of 35 millimeters,” said Iñárritu, “so 985,000 feet were left out. I was experimenting with handheld and lenses, and Rodrigo and I were on fire.”

The director found out that his 1 million feet of dailies were in storage in Mexico’s National Autonomous University archive. “I started exploring,” he said. “It was beautiful to see how, when I start seeing all [that] was left out, how many films were there within the film, and watching this material with a new gaze. When I was editing, I was watching with the function of finding the pieces of the puzzle to serve the narrative. But now I was seeing the flow and the beauty itself of the images, so without the dictatorship of the narrative, I start collecting. And that’s the beginning of this installation. It’s 35-millimeter projectors in a labyrinth of dark rooms, with these big guys projecting material like a magic lantern. It’s very dreamy. People are touched by it because it’s not an homage to the film. It’s a resurrection. It’s a reinvention itself, and it stays completely detached from the film.”

The essay reveals the context of the “Amores Perros” production, the director’s aesthetic and philosophy of filmmaking, and how he creates cards for each sequence in a movie. “My obsession is the grammatical film language,” he said. “Those cards integrate everything that I should know when whatever challenge of the film comes — in crisis, in production, in depression. Those are my bricks that sustain some clarity during [filming], and it helped me out. It’s an exercise that takes me days and months to get it all, but it’s homework that goes deep for me to understand what I’m dealing with. What is the purpose of the scene? What is the purpose of that character, what does the other guy want, and what will be the conflict?”

Mubi will re-release the film this month in theaters all over Latin America, and make it available globally on its streaming platform on October 24. While the filmmaker never made any money on the film, which he invested in, he now owns about 75 percent. “Mubi is buying the rights for the next 10 years,” he said. “They’re one of the few streamers that are supporting independent filmmakers. We are in the right hands.”

While the life of a filmmaker is peripatetic at best, Iñárritu and his wife, with their two children out of the nest, are trying to decide where to live. They’ve been residing in Los Angeles. “We are gypsies,” he said. “I did ‘Bardo’ in Mexico. So I lived in Mexico City for one year and a half. Then I finished shooting the last film at Warner Bros. It’s a difficult moment in the world, and that decision is important for us. Things have changed a lot, as you know.”

Tom Ford Spring 2026 Ready-to-Wear Collection

Haider Ackermann has found his place. There’s only one Tom Ford, but Ackermann shares the brand founder’s flair for the cinematic, and he directs his models like they were actors on a movie set. “I told them I want them to seduce. They’re aware they’re seducing, but they act as if they’re not aware of it—it’s all this kind of game,” he said backstage in the quiet before the show began.

They certainly didn’t move like models on other runways, with their unsmiling, bored faces and their wiggleless hips. Ackermann’s girls and boys slithered and slinked their way up a glossy dark blue set, trying for eye contact with the audience, or casting side glances at their fellow catwalkers. Erin O’Connor and Scott Barnhill, in hers and his navy silk suits and matching slicked-back haircuts, put their arms around each other, like old friends or new lovers. David Bowie was singing about lovers in a searing acapella version of “Heroes” on the soundtrack.

“It’s all about a midnight swim,” Ackermann shared. “In the summer I like to take a dive in the ocean at midnight. I think that’s the most dangerous and sexy thing in the world.” Those are two qualities Ford would co-sign. He’d likely also appreciate the patent leather pieces laser-cut with tiny slits that looked like they’d taken a dip in the ocean too. Though there were no straight-up bathing suits, there was more bare skin here than at Ackermann’s debut last season. On the girls, little triangle bra tops stood in for shirts; and on the boys, jockstraps were clearly visible beneath teeny sheer shorts.

With their wire construction, evening numbers defied gravity, the single strap of an asymmetric long dress arching over the shoulders to cup the opposite breast. Others challenged decorum à la Rudi Gernreich’s monokini and an Ackermann collection of old (see spring 2011) featuring topless dresses suspended via the barest of strings from somewhere south of the navel. Ackermann has quickly mastered Ford’s signature panache, but here he let his own distinctive style shine through.

And then there was the color—lime green, baby pink, and mint satin pantsuits; draped dresses and skirts in orange and pool blue; all of it standing out all the more in the so deep-blue-it’s-almost-black of the show space. For the finale, Ackermann cranked up the smoke machine, a signature move of his own from way back. Consider us seduced.
