10 Best Petite Leggings for Short Women 2025, Tested and Reviewed

by jummy84 September 30, 2025
written by jummy84

The best petite leggings in my closet are the ones I reach for the most. They never drag or scrunch at my ankles, and most importantly, I always feel confident wearing them. As a shopping editor, I’ve tested over a dozen activewear brands over the years and written about some of my favorite women’s leggings. And since I’m 5-feet-2, I frequently run into pairs that are way too long on my ankles, have too-long inseams, or feature awkward waistband lengths. So to help you find the most petite-friendly pairs, I tested options designed for shorter frames, like 7/8-length and capri leggings. I’m a pretty active person, so you can trust these pairs will really hold up on runs, through workout classes, or just while lounging at home.

The best petite leggings, at a glance

Lululemon Align No Line High-Ride Pants, 25”

Everyone needs a good pair of black leggings in their closet, and that’s what these Lululemon tights are for me. My fellow editors love their durability (it never pills or shrinks after multiple washes) and that famously soft, stretchy fabric. I picked this pair as the best option for petites overall because of the length and inseam options; you can get 23-, 25-, 28-, and 31-inch lengths, which is great for women of different heights. (The 23-inch size is the shortest I’ve seen compared to other brands.) I love that they’re versatile for any activity, whether it’s working out intensely or walking around my neighborhood. Dress this pair up for fall and winter with a puffer vest or a zip-up jacket for a sporty vibe—or go with a cropped trench coat and ballet flats for a more elevated look.

Pros: Soft, stretchy fabric; two unique petite crops available
Cons: Pricey

Athleta Elation Ultra-High-Rise Double Up Leggings

Original video by Jenifer Calle testing Athleta Elation Ultra High Rise Double Up Legging

I’ve recommended this pair of high-waisted leggings time and time again because they’re just that good. I’ve worn them for just about everything, from reformer Pilates classes to lounging at home. I particularly like them for hot Pilates mat classes because they don’t feel sticky, even after I’ve been moving for close to an hour. The design is firm in the all the right places, but I’m able to stretch and slip in and out of this pair without hassle. They’re comfortable enough for all-day wear, and I’m obsessed with the flattering high-rise fit. Athleta also offers regular and tall inseams, so you can get a more customized fit for your height.

Pros: Great for hot, sweaty workouts; flattering high rise; soft but supportive fabric
Cons: Some transparency

FP Movement Never Better 7/8-Length Leggings

Original video from Jenifer Calle testing Free People Never Better 7/8 Length Legging

Some leggings squeeze my gut too much, and you definitely don’t want that when you’re doing lunges or entering downward-facing dog. That’s why these FP Movement leggings are great for, well, movement. Plus, they’re some of the softest pairs of leggings I own. In addition to yoga classes, I recommend these leggings for nature walks, low-impact workouts like barre, and long-distance walks. The 7/8 length and the 24.5-inch inseam make these the perfect height for petite women. Plus, the unique colors are great for standing out at the gym or mixing into your capsule wardrobe; throw on an oversized hoodie or a denim jacket for an easy off-duty outfit.

8 Best Gels for Curly Hair 2025, Tested On Different Curl Types

by jummy84 September 30, 2025
written by jummy84

Our reviewer says: “Lately, a wash-and-go has been my primary hairstyle, as my curls just won’t behave in a twist-out during the humid months,” says Glamour senior visuals editor Lauren Brown. “That’s where the Pattern Curl Gel has been a real game changer for me. It’s great for a quick curl refresh in the shower after a couple days. Like all the hair-care products on this line, the fragrance is intoxicatingly fresh, like cucumbers in cocktail.”

Best for Fine Hair: Rizos Curls Light Hold Gel

  • Courtesy of brand

  • Rizos Curls Light Hold Gel

Original photo from Malia Griggs testing Rizos Curls Light Hold Gel

Rizos Curls Light Hold Gel (8 fl. oz.)

  • What we love: Lightweight, flexible hold; scrunches out easily; leaves curls soft
  • Worth noting: For coarser curls, may want heavier gel

This lightweight gel defines curls without stiffness, keeping them touchable and bouncy while reducing frizz. Formulated with aloe vera, flaxseed, and thyme, it locks in shape and shine without parabens, silicones, or sulfates. Our tester with 3A curls found that it enhanced definition on wash day and kept frizzy hair at bay through day two without flaking or weighing it down. The cast scrunched out easily, leaving curls soft and natural-looking.

Our reviewer says: “I like how light this gel is on my fine curls. Other gels I’ve tried make them feel stiff and look greasy, even after I scrunch out the cast, but with this, my curls are very soft and bouncy. It’s pretty fragrantly perfumed, which I don’t love, but not so badly that I won’t keep using it after my leave-in and foam, then followed by a diffuser,” says Glamour commerce editor Malia Griggs.

Best for Humidity: Bumble Curl Anti-Humidity Frizz Gel Oil

  • Bumble and Bumble Curl Anti-Humidity Gel-Oil

  • Bumble and Bumble Curl Anti-Humidity Gel-Oil

Original photo from Paton Hardy testing Bumble and Bumble Curl Anti-Humidity Gel-Oil

Bumble and Bumble Curl Anti-Humidity Gel-Oil (5 fl. oz.)

  • What we love: Defines curls without crunch; resists humidity; thin, easy-to-distribute formula
  • Worth noting: Can feel a little drying; fragrance is strong and sweet

This hybrid gel-oil smooths frizz while giving curls hold and definition that lasts. The clear formula is lightweight but substantial enough to create a cast that scrunches out softly, leaving hair touchable instead of stiff. Our tester with 3C curls found that the product shaped spirals beautifully and resisted humidity, though it left some dryness by the end of the day.

Our tester says: “The gel defined my 3C curls really well and gave me a great look, though I did notice some dryness as the day went on,” says Glamour reviewer Páton Hardy. “The fragrance across the line was strong but pleasant—fruity, sweet, and similar to a perfume I’d wear—so it wasn’t off-putting. The shampoo lathered up quickly and felt very slippery, while the conditioner was thicker and hydrating. The gel itself was see-through and thin, easy to apply without running everywhere, and it dried down without leaving my hair crunchy.”

Best for Definition: Aveda Be Curly Advanced Coil Definer Gel

  • Aveda Be Curly Advanced Coil Definer Gel

  • Aveda Be Curly Advanced Coil Definer Gel

Original photo from Sarah Holden testing Aveda Be Curly Advanced Coil Definer Gel

Aveda Be Curly Advanced Coil Definer Gel

  • What we love: Strong definition; smooths frizz; adds bounce and shine
  • Worth noting: Works best outside of extreme humidity; pair with with heavier-hold gel if you need extra staying power

Formulated for tighter curl patterns, this gel gives coils long-lasting definition and frizz protection without leaving them stiff. Coily hair—characterized by densely packed curls that are prone to dryness—often needs gels that balance moisture with enough hold to keep styles in place. With wheat-derived amino acids to smooth and strengthen strands and mango butter to nourish and hydrate, this formula helps coils stay soft, defined, and resilient.

15 Most Comfortable Bras of 2025, Tested and Reviewed

by jummy84 September 30, 2025
written by jummy84

According to lingerie experts that Glamour previously spoke to, when it comes to shopping for a bra, it’s all about the right fit for your breast shape. First figure out these three things: your breast volume (or fullness), breast shape (slender, compact, or asymmetric), and positioning (whether your breasts are closer to each other or you have chest space in between). This will help determine the style of bra that works best for you. For example, if you have fullness at the bottom, a balconette is your MVP but if you have fullness at the top, you might want more coverage and support with a T-shirt bra or triangle bralette.

Bulging, skin irritation, and discomfort can all be the results of a tight-fitting bra. On the other hand, lack of support from a too-loose bra is just as uncomfortable. The right bra—whether it’s a strapless bra, wireless, or push-up—should be snug around your ribcage, with straps and cups that mold to your chest. If the cups float in the center front, bulge, or cause your breasts to spill over, then it’s not the best bra fit.

And of course, when it comes to materials, it’s a mix of personal preference. Some of the most comfortable bras are made of softer-on-skin fabrics such as cotton or bamboo. That said, the right blend of nylon, spandex, and elastane can be equally pleasant to wear for long stretches. Of course, if you’re an active person and looking for a more versatile sports bra, keep an eye out for moisture-wicking, antimicrobial materials that don’t itch or chafe.

11 Best Japanese Skin Care Products We Tested 2025

by jummy84 September 25, 2025
written by jummy84

Even if you’re new to J-beauty, you probably recognize this iconic glass bottle at first glance. The brand’s popular hydrating essence (sometimes also referred to as a lotion toner in Japan) is famous for its key ingredient, PITERA™. Also known as galactomyces ferment filtrate, it’s a yeast-derived ingredient that has barrier-supporting, hydrating, and antioxidant benefits. It’s also known to help brighten and smooth, ideal for targeting dark spots, fine lines, and overall skin tone. The texture is fast-absorbing and lightweight, leaving your face dewy and prepped for makeup. I usually like to splash a few drops all over my face for an instant refresh. Or, for gentle exfoliation, I’ll wet a cotton pad to sweep away dead skin cells.

4. Best Serum: Albion Excia Double Key Advance Serum

Albion Excia Double Key Advance Serum

Original video from Sarah Y. Wu testing Albion Excia Double Key Advance Serum

Fast facts: Two-in-one water- and oil-based serum; lightweight and fast-absorbing texture; visible brightening and firming effects with regular use; recommended for anti-aging and mature skin

A beauty colleague recently recommended this anti-aging serum to me, and it only took one try for me to add it to my daily routine. While it’s made for mature skin, I’d recommend it to anyone except for those who can’t tolerate fragrance in skin care. The dual-chamber bottle contains separate water- and oil-based sides; you simply pump once to combine and activate them. Both are packed with antioxidant-rich plant extracts with known hydrating and glow-boosting benefits: Japanese beautyberry, green tea leaf, rice lees (a byproduct of fermentation), and more.

I personally love the refreshing, lightweight texture and visible results. I’ve been using this serum daily and have noticed that my complexion looks glowier and bouncier. It works well with both my morning and evening skin-care routines, since it layers well with any moisturizer or makeup.

5. Best Emulsion: Shiseido D Program Moist Care Emulsion

Courtesy of brand

Shiseido D Program Moist Care Emulsion

Fast facts: Lightweight emulsion; gentle on all skin types; hydrating and plumping effect; recommended for makeup prep

This skin-conditioning emulsion (a classic J-beauty category typically applied after serums) is an on-set favorite for photoshoots. “Emulsion is an essential step in Japanese skincare,” says Ishida. “This one is gentle enough for sensitive skin and has a creamy texture that’s easily absorbed. With continued use, my skin becomes supple. I always carry it with me when I travel and models visiting Japan will ask me, ‘What is this? Where is it from?’ as soon as they try it.”

To use your emulsion effectively, apply it after your toner and serum, before your moisturizer. If you have oily skin, you can also use this in place of your moisturizer. The formula is infused with hydrating, brightening ingredients like vitamin E, tranexamic acid, and sodium hyaluronate. Yet just as Ishida says, it’s lightweight and ideal for makeup prep.

6. Best Moisturizer for Oily Skin: Tatcha The Water Cream

Tatcha The Water Cream

Courtesy of brand

Fast facts: Oil-free gel cream; recommended for oily and combination skin; refreshing feel; helps balance excess sebum without dryness

Japan’s hot, humid summers have influenced J-beauty brands to formulate moisturizers that provide just enough hydration while remaining light and refreshing. This oil-free gel cream feels amazing during the warmer months, or year-round if your skin falls under the oily and combination categories. It’s formulated with antioxidant-rich and barrier-friendly plant extracts like Japanese wild rose, green tea, rice, and algae. I’ve used this formula for years and love how it feels like a splash of cooling water on application. It absorbs quickly and layers well under makeup, so I especially love it for my morning skin-care routine. It also helps keep my T-zone from getting too greasy while still leaving my midface sufficiently hydrated.

7. Best Moisturizer for Dry Skin: Curél Japanese Skin Care Intensive Moisture Facial Cream

Curél Japanese Skin Care Intensive Moisture Facial Cream

Original video from Sarah Y. Wu testing Curél Japanese Skin Care Intensive Moisture Facial Cream

Fast facts: Intensely hydrating moisturizer; on the richer side but still fast-absorbing; barrier-friendly; recommended for dry, dehydrated, and sensitive skin

If your skin is feeling dehydrated, this is one of the richest Japanese moisturizers I own. While it’s intensely hydrating, it still doesn’t feel overly heavy or greasy. A small scoop goes a long way in softening dry patches in a single application. It’s packed with hydrating, soothing, and barrier-supporting ingredients like vitamin E, glycerin, squalane, and allantoin.

10 Best Serums for Dry Skin Tested 2025, Dermatologist-Approved

by jummy84 September 19, 2025
written by jummy84

If you’re looking to combat wrinkles and signs of aging, we love this potent serum from SkinCeuticals that features 1.3% hyaluronic acid, licorice root, soybean and proxylane, a proprietary ingredient that works to improve skin resilience.

Testing notes: “This serum has become a regular part of my skin care routine. I’m a big fan of the SkinCeuticals line, especially for the Triple Lipid Restore cream and now this HA Intensifier serum. After reading that hyaluronic acid works by binding to water, I applied this serum directly after washing my face, while my skin was still slightly damp. I noticed the plumpness in my skin immediately after the first use. It felt firm and bouncy, and the crepey lines around my mouth and forehead were less defined. And when I don’t use the serum for a few days, I see a difference. I’ll happily be keeping this in my routine for the near future,” says Glamour contributor Charlotte Twine.

Best for Acne-Prone Skin: Summer Fridays Jet Lag Deep Hydration Serum

Summer Fridays Jet Lag Deep Hydration Serum

Original video from Alanna Martine Kilkeary testing Summer Fridays Jet Lag Deep Hydration Serum

  • Pros: Texture is thick but it dries down nicely
  • Cons: A bit pricey for the size

This super-soothing pick contains squalane, glycerin, and colloidal oatmeal to minimize the redness and inflammation that comes along with acne. It has a jelly-like consistency that makes skin feel soft and plump quickly, perfect for evening out skin texture and bumps.

Testing notes: “My combination skin simply drank this serum up the first time I tried it. It did a great job of taming the drier areas on my cheeks without causing breakouts. I also noticed an improvement in redness in these areas (thanks to the colloidal oatmeal in the formula, I’d guess), and it did an amazing job of evening out my skin tone and texture,” says Glamour’s Kilkeary.

Best Anti-Aging: Glow Recipe Prickly Pear Peptide Mucin

Glow Recipe Prickly Pear Peptide Mucin

  • Pros: Lightweight; nonsticky; absorbs beautifully
  • Cons: A bit pricey

Plump skin instantly and keep dryness at bay with this peptide serum that will soften the appearance of fine lines while locking in moisture. It has a blend of prickly pear peptides, plus ectoin to gently strengthen the skin barrier and improve skin elasticity.

Testing notes: “I’ve been basically obsessed with this formula since I first tried it,” says Glamour’s Kilkeary. “It has a jellylike consistency that isn’t too runny or heavy during application. Instead, it melts into the skin and smooths my complexion, creating a great base for makeup. I find that my foundation and tinted moisturizers don’t crease or crack when I use this in my skin-prep routine, and it manages to keep my skin plump and radiant without redness and shine.”

Best for Dark Spots: Clinique Moisture Surge Active Glow Serum

Clinique Moisture Surge Active Glow Serum

Original video of Alanna Martine Kilkeary testing the Clinique Moisture Surge Active Glow Serum

  • Pros: Lightweight, non-sticky and absorbs easily
  • Cons: Pricey

This hydrating face serum is a favorite of Claire Wolinsky, MD, a board certified dermatologist in NYC, who recommends it if you’re looking to minimize dullness and dark spots. “This formula has a lactic acid, vitamin C, and hyaluronic acid complex to exfoliate, brighten, and hydrate the skin. The lactic acid is light enough even for dry or sensitive skin and the hyaluronic acid moisturizes. This is a great step before a moisturizer,” she notes.

Testing notes: “I was amazed at how hydrating this glow serum was,” says Glamour’s Kilkeary. “It’s lightweight and non-sticky, and absorbed pretty quickly after application. I instantly saw a difference in my skin even after just one go—it was brighter, softer and more even-toned. I would recommend applying this in the morning, and adding sunscreen on top after the fact.”

Best with Hyaluronic Acid: Cerave Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Serum

  • Pros: Gentle formula
  • Cons: Some sensitive skin types may not work well with hyaluronic acid.

12 Best Hair Straighteners and Flatirons 2025, Tested & Reviewed

by jummy84 September 16, 2025
written by jummy84

When you straighten your hair, you want the process to be as simple as possible and the result as sleek as possible. Of course, you also want to minimize any damage to your strands. T3’s Single Pass StyleMax delivers on all fronts, thanks to a unique technology that customizes the styling process for you—no fiddling with different temperatures. You simply select your hair texture and styling goals via buttons on the flatiron, then get to work—the iron will heat to one of nine temperatures selected for you.

Testing notes: “While there is a bit of a learning curve to the smart heat settings, once I figured it out, things came to temperature exceptionally quickly. I appreciated that the rounded edges allow you to both straighten and curl, but I was disappointed with the feel of the plates. The iron didn’t swipe effortlessly but rather stuttered over my hair. It did, however, do a pretty solid job in a single pass,” says Earley.

  • What we love: Affordable; lightweight; easy to handle
  • What could improve: Gets a little too hot

This affordable straightener is one of the best titanium picks on the list because it’s suitable for a variety of hair types, including curly hair. It has wide, 1.25-inch plates that catch a good amount of hair, and the temperature goes up to 440°F, which helps you achieve a smooth, frizz-free finish.

Testing notes: “As someone with extremely curly 3C hair, I found this iron to be very effective. It heats up quickly and offers three distinct heat settings. The lowest setting was my preferred choice. My hair felt smooth and manageable after use. I appreciate the sleek design and was able to utilize the three-in-one function to add some body to my hair, as I typically prefer it with volume rather than styled sleekly,” says Glamour tester Kristine Straker.

  • What we love: Nine adjustable settings make it gentle on hair; easy to use
  • What could improve: A bit pricey

If you have type 4 curls, Glamour contributor Tanisha Cherry swears by the T3 Lucea Flat Iron. This ceramic-plated pick is super gentle on hair and styles quickly, without the need for dozens of passes.

Testing Notes: “I’ve been using this pick for my silk presses for five years now, and she delivers every single time. With natural type 4 hair, I’m super picky about my heat tools. I want that bone-straight finish without compromising my curls. Depending on how well my blow-dry turns out, I don’t always need high heat, and that’s where this flatiron shines. It heats up fast and has nine adjustable heat settings, which gives me total control. What really seals the deal is that I can do just one pass on blow-dried hair and still get a straight and smooth finish. And it gets super close to my roots without burning me, which is major. I only use it on freshly washed and blow-dried hair when I’m going for a silk press, so about two to three times a month, and it never disappoints,” says Cherry.

Best Cordless Hair Straightener: Dyson Airstrait

Dyson Airstrait

  • What we love: Less direct and intense heat means less damage over time; wide range of styling settings and modes (wet, dry, rough-dry, smoothing boost); LCD screen; intelligent airflow; temperature control
  • What could improve: Slower process than traditional flatirons

The Glamour commerce team put the buzzy Dyson Airstrait to the test and found it to be best overall on our list. Think of it as a flatiron and blow-dryer in one. Instead of pressing your hair between hot plates, it dries strands with hot air (using the same technology as our favorite Dyson Airwrap)—which is way less damaging than your standard straightening iron.

Testing notes: “Though it’s gentle on hair, the process is a bit lengthy, since you have to first use the tool to rough-dry your roots. This is an important step, because the shape and size of the Airstrait is a bit bulky and the air shoots down toward your ends, so you can’t clamp hair all the way at the top to smooth it during the straightening process. Once I was ready to work on individual sections of hair with passes closer to that of a traditional flatiron, I found there was a bit of a learning curve to keeping hair inside of the tool. But I figured out that it helped to hold my hair, guiding it through. Even though this whole process takes a bit longer, the effort paid off. My finished style was incredibly soft and shiny, plus had impressive staying power,” says Earley.

10 Best Red Light Therapy Devices We Tested for Face & Body 2025

by jummy84 September 11, 2025
written by jummy84

“I’ve struggled hair thinning around the crown of my head for the past year now, so I’m always looking to level up my hair growth routine with just about anything. I’ve been using this device for a couple of months now and am pleased to report that I’ve noticed a difference in the growth in this area— I actually have a handful of baby hairs cropping up. I’m excited to keep using this one,” says Glamour’s Kilkeary.

Best for Hyperpigmentation: Silk’n Titan MultiPlatform

Silk’n Titan MultiPlatform

Original video from Brigitt Early testing Silkn Titan MultiPlatform

  • What we love: Four intensities for comfort; three-in-one beauty tool; two treatment heads for different areas of the face and neck, good for wrinkles
  • What could improve: Long treatment time

For those who really want to target hyperpigmentation and dark spots, Silk’n makes a handheld device that combines three technologies: bipolar radiofrequency, which heats up the deeper layers of the skin and helps increase collagen and elastin production; near-infrared, which also penetrates the skin to boost collagen and elastin; and red light to improve blood circulation and enhance tone and texture. It comes with two treatments heads: one smaller and more precise for hard-to-reach areas such crow’s feet, eye bags, mouth wrinkles, nasolabial lines, and tear troughs; and a larger magnetic one that lets you cover more surface area in places like the cheeks, forehead, neck, or other areas of the body.

“You do have to use a conductor gel (the brand sells its own, but you can use any clear water-based gel) and treatment time is rather lengthy at 15 minutes per area, but I love the warm and slightly tingly sensation you get while using the device. I noticed an immediate lift to my face, particularly around my eyes,” says Earley.

Best Luxury: CurrentBody LED Hair Growth Helmet

CurrentBody LED Hair Growth Helmet

Original video from Lian Brooks testing CurrentBody LED Hair Growth Helmet

  • What we love: Full scalp coverage; hands-free design
  • What could improve: Hard to store

This helmet-style device stood out for its smart, user-friendly design and full-coverage LED treatment. It delivers 660nm red light across the entire scalp, working to stimulate follicles, boost circulation, and support thicker, stronger hair over time—without the need to keep moving a device around.

It is on the bulkier side, which makes the helmet harder to store than handheld units, but its ergonomic fit and soft silicone lining make it surprisingly easy to wear. “Even the full 10-minute sessions felt manageable, since I could walk around and multitask without any slipping or shifting,” says Earley. “After a month of consistent use, I’ve noticed a slight boost in hair density and even an improvement in my scalp’s overall health. It doesn’t get oily as quickly, and I’ve had fewer bumps and clogged follicles than normal.”

Best for Scalp Health: Foreo FAQ 301 LED Hair Strengthening Scalp Massager

Foreo FAQ 301 LED Hair Strengthening Scalp Massager

Original video from Alanna Martine Kilkeary testing Foreo FAQ 301 LED Hair Strengthening Scalp Massager

  • What we love: Compact and cordless; waterproof; quick treatment time
  • What could improve: Using the included serum may make hair a bit greasy

If you’re dealing with hair thinning or shedding—or just want to show your scalp a little extra love—this waterproof, palm-size massager uses a combination of red LED light and Foreo’s signature T-Sonic massage to boost circulation, break up buildup, and enhance the absorption of hair serums or oils. We love that it’s entirely cordless, rechargeable, and designed to fit comfortably in your hand. It’s also waterproof, so you can use it in or out of the shower.

“I’ve never used an LED tool for my scalp before, so I was a little apprehensive before testing this out, but I ended up loving it,” says Glamour commerce writer Alanna Martine Kilkeary. “It has a powerful vibration that’s almost like a massage for your scalp. You can make it a little more or less intense as you please. The red light is superbright and feels warm upon contact. I didn’t find that my hair and scalp were irritated during use, which I appreciated. As to whether it made my hair grow over the past couple weeks? The jury is still out. I haven’t noticed a huge difference, though my hair is a little bit thicker around my crown and I am seeing some baby hair growth.” PS: Before purchase, check out our Foreo coupon code for up to 50% off.

13 Best Shampoos for Curly Hair 2025, Tested on Different Curls

by jummy84 September 6, 2025
written by jummy84

Tighter curl patterns take on a spiral or “Z” shape which can cause them to look shorter when your hair is dried versus when it’s wet or stretched (so the curl looks longer). While you can manipulate natural curls to “stretch” with braids or twists, products that help define and moisturize can also assist in this department. This formula is packed with moisturizing ingredients (like hyaluronic acid, marula oil, and kalahari melon) that help coily hair feel soft to the touch, even after it’s completely dried, which helps reduce shrinkage. While this will foam up, it still provides a gentle cleanse that won’t strip your hair of its moisture. Bonus? If you love a fruity, tropical fragrance, this one will make your bathroom smell like you just left a dreamy beach vacation.

Our review: I’ve recently added this to my regular shampoo lineup and I like that my curls don’t feel like wire once I rinse it out. Instead, I get instant slip and ultra-defined coils that drink up conditioner treatments and curl creams thereafter (I love following up with a rinse-out and a leave-in conditioner after using this). I’ve also used this on type-4 hair extensions and found that it got product residue off while keeping the curl pattern defined and frizz-free. —Aimee Simeon, Glamour contributor

Best Clarifying: Olaplex No.4C Bond Maintenance Clarifying Shampoo

Olapex No. 4C Bond Maintenance Shampoo (8.5 oz.)

Original photo from Francesca Simmons testing Olapex No. 4C Bond Maintenance Shampoo

  • What we love: Deep-cleans product buildup and chemical deposits; strengthens curls with patented bond-building technology
  • Worth noting: Can feel a bit strong for daily use

Clarifying shampoo should be an essential once-a-week step in your routine. It combats chemical deposits (from the swimming pool, say), product buildup, an itchy scalp, and oily hair. This stylist-favorite Olaplex shampoo works to rebuild broken bonds most often seen on split, curly ends, says Paul Labrecque, creative director and master stylist and colorist for Paul Labrecque Salon and Skincare Spa. “It also has the Olaplex patented bond-building technology, so while you’re removing minerals, you are also building a stronger structure inside the hair,” says celebrity hair colorist Bianca Hillier.

Our review: Whenever a shampoo is ‘suitable for all hair types,’ I kind of give them a side-eye, but Olaplex’s bonding shampoo really does work wonders on my 4A curls. As all curly girls know, we need shampoos that address everything, including dryness, damage, split ends, breakage, and lack of shine—and this does exactly that. It lathers easily, I don’t have to use a ton to get that super-clean feeling, and it doesn’t strip my hair or leave my scalp tight. Overall, I’ve noticed less frizz, nearly no flyaways, and softer, shinier curls. —Francesca Simmons, Glamour reviewer

Best for Thick Hair: Ouai Thick Hair Shampoo

Ouai Thick Hair Shampoo (10 oz.)

Ouai Thick Hair Shampoo

  • What we love: Deeply moisturizing without weighing down thick strands; strengthens with keratin; luxe scent
  • Worth noting: Heavy for fine or looser curl types

“This shampoo will ruin all others for you,” says Allure’s Shipin, who has coarse, curly hair with medium-to-low porosity and reaches for Ouai for nourishment and frizz-taming. It’s an excellent choice for coarse curls and/or low-porosity hair (meaning, it has trouble absorbing moisture). The formula features hydrolyzed keratin, a protein that strengthens hair and improves its elasticity, as well as avocado and shea butter. The latter is a heavier hydrator that’s best suited for thick hair, which it won’t weigh down in the same way as fine hair, thought it will do a hell of a job moisturizing.

Our review: These days, there are so many great options for curls of all kinds, and I’ve found one that truly stands out for thick hair. This color-safe shampoo not only cleanses but also deeply moisturizes, strengthens, and fights frizz. It tackles dryness, color damage, split ends, and breakage—my hair feels stronger, looks shinier, and is less tangled. Marshmallow root helps soften and detangle, shea butter locks in moisture, and avocado oil prevents future breakage. And just like all Ouai products, this smells amazing, with the brand’s Mercer Street scent of Italian lemon, jasmine, and white musk. —Andrea Navarro, Glamour contributor

8 Best No-Clump Mascaras Tested 2025, Approved by Makeup Artists

by jummy84 September 5, 2025
written by jummy84

“This Tower 28 mascara manages to add volume to my short lashes but without the messiness or flakyness. The product doesn’t smudge on my eyelids like other mascaras thanks to the bristles that really separate my lashes,” says Glamour senior commerce editor Jenifer Calle.

Best for Sensitive Eyes: Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara

Kasey Spickard, a NYC-based celebrity makeup artist who prefers a tubing mascara to avoid clumps, raves about this long-wearing option “I was turned onto it by one of my clients who’s a touring comedian,” Spickard says. “She loves a full lash and this one doesn’t clump or transfer. I now swear by it.”

But the best part is that this pick is not only laugh (and cry proof), it’s also suitable for sensitive eyes. It has castor seed oils, shea butter and a tapered cone brush which helps you coat every single lash.

“This cruelty-free formula is really gentle on eyes, and I like to use it during allergy season when my eyes are at an all-time watering level,” says Glamour’s Kilkeary. “This formula stays put, never smudges and isn’t clumpy during application.”

Best for Thin Lashes: Kosas Soulgazer Lengthening & Lifting Peptide Mascara

Williamson also recommends this smudge-proof mascara if you have thin lashes. It’s packed with peptides that make lashes look long and strong, and won’t flake all day long.

“My favorite thing about this mascara is the curved brush,” says Glamour’s Kilkeary. “It’s this neat hourglass shape that helps you really curl up and lift your lashes during application, and it never gives off too much pigment. It even has helped my lashes grow a bit after using it for over a month now — they look and feel thicker and resilient.”

Best for Older Women: Clinique Try It On High Impact Mascara

Aging often comes hand-in-hand with thin lashes or lash loss, which can make clumping even more obvious. This formula is a favorite of ours because it has a hydrating formula and soft fiber brush that adds volume without the gunk. It’s also ophthalmologist tested and safe for those who wear contacts.

“I’m a huge fan of Clinique skin care, but had never given their make up a try. Take it from me, Clinique High Impact Mascara is impressively good. I particularly recommend its wispy, layering, non-clumpy qualities. If you’re looking for more dramatic lashes, the key is to layer it on. The first coat came out super wispy and very natural, but as I applied layers, it became thicker and fluffier and more show-girl-like, if you will, with no clumps. My lashes are pretty sparse these days as I get older, and it takes a lot of scaffolding to make them actually appear visibly around my eyes, but Clinique’s mascara did an outstanding job without making them look all goopy. I’m putting this in my makeup bag right away,” says Glamour contributor Charlotte Twine.

Best for Length: Makeup by Mario Master Mascara Volumizing & Lift

Jonet Williamson, NYC-based makeup artist, swears by this long-lasting volumizing and lifting mascara. The formula has a blend of ProVitamin B5, castor oil, polymers and vegan wax that helps hug your lashes to give them volume and length.

“I love the brush of this mascara because it’s not overly thick, but not too thin either,” says Glamour’s Kilkeary. “It gives you just the right amount of pigment without looking inky and helps separate lashes for a voluminous, yet non-lumpy finish.”

Best for Short Lashes: Ilia Beauty Limitless Lash Mascara

  • Pros: Gentle pigment makes application easy; contains arginine to condition lashes
  • Cons: Pricey

Brielle Pollara, a New-Jersey based makeup artist, prefers this Ilia mascara for short, straight lashes and sensitive eyes. “The formula and hourglass shape of the brush work in conjunction to create a voluminous finish, and it’s formulated with provitamin B5 and arginine to promote stronger, healthier-looking lashes,” she says.

“Not only does it have a perfectly bristled brush that coats and separates all my lashes, but the deep brown color adds just the right amount of pop to my eyes without being overwhelming like some black mascaras can be. I prefer the subtle dimension it gives me. Best of all, it doesn’t budge an inch during the day, but comes off fairly easy at night,” says Glamour senior beauty editor Ariana Yaptangco.

14 Best Tinted Moisturizers Tested 2025, Dermatologist-Approved

by jummy84 September 5, 2025
written by jummy84

“The best time to apply tinted moisturizer is in the morning after washing your face and applying face serums, if this is part of your routine,” says Dr. Stull. “Those with dryer skin may choose to apply a regular moisturizer prior to tinted moisturizer, although this may not be necessary for oilier skin types. Application of tinted moisturizer can be followed by concealer for extra coverage in particular areas, bronzer, and blush.”

Additional makeup is totally optional, though. “The beauty of tinted moisturizer is that it’s really all you might need, especially on days you don’t want to wear makeup. It’s a great all-in-one,” says Adarsh Vijay Mudgil, MD, a board-certified dermatologist and founder of New York City’s Mudgil Dermatology, who also advises choosing tinted moisturizer with SPF if you’re not wearing sunscreen otherwise.

As for how to apply it? “With your fingertips is actually perfectly fine, though a makeup brush could help provide a more even finish,” says Dr. Mudgil. It’s simply a matter of personal preference.
