After the pop princess and her Kansas City Chiefs partner, both 35, announced their engagement earlier this month, the New Zealand tourism board took to Instagram to share why the country should host the nuptials.

A message on the New Zealand tourism board’s Instagram account stated: “This is our official petition for Pop’s next Royal Wedding to be hosted right here in Aotearoa New Zealand.

“We think the Swifties would agree, it’s the perfect backdrop for a star-studded ‘I do.’ Are you ready for it?”

The post featured pictures of mountain views in Fiordland, a vineyard in Wānaka, a tree-lined chapel at Ohaupō Tree Church, and Lake Erskine and Dublin Bay.

The caption concluded: “A huge congratulations to @taylorswift @killatrav, catch the bouquet in the comments to manifest your dream wedding down under.”

Meanwhile, Taylor and Travis announced their engagement with a joint Instagram post with the caption “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

Taylor and Travis started dating in 2023 and she has been a regular at Kansas City Chiefs games – where Kelce plays as a tight end – ever since, whist he was often in attendance at her shows on The Eras Tour last year.

The couple’s relationship was first made public in September 2023 when Taylor was spotted in the crowd at one Kelce’s games, although the pair had been dating privately for a few months beforehand.

Swift has had several high-profile relationships in the past – including with former One Direction singer Harry Styles and actor Joe Alwyn – but revealed earlier this month that Travis was the guy she had been manifesting in many of her hit songs.

During an appearance on Travis and his brother Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast, she said: “I was like, ‘If this guy’s not crazy, this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.'”

Amid her divorce from Iman Shumpert, Teyana Taylor chose to defend herself from rumors on Instagram Live earlier this year, and she had to pay a hefty price for it. When asked on The Breakfast Club yesterday (Aug. 27) about the $70,000 fee she was hit with for violating the terms of her divorce, she said she doesn’t regret what she did.

“I’m sitting here defending some sh*t that came out a year ago,” she began, explaining how the rumors started to gain traction much later than when they initially started. Over the last year, Taylor and Shumpert finalized their split and dealt with a flurry of misleading coverage. She said felt the urge to defend herself against the chatter because she has a daughter who has access to social media. “It’s hitting differently because it’s assumed that I moved on… ‘Yo, she took this person for everything.’ Now, I’m being called out my name.”

Host Jess Hilarious chimed in, “It seemed like you had to pay a $70,000 bill for defending yourself.” Teyana quipped back, “And it was the best lil coin I’ve ever spent,” as Charlamagne Tha God ad-libbed, “Damn!”

The “Gonna Love Me” singer candidly added, “When I said I want to get put through the mattress in peace? Listen.”

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, proposed to singer Taylor, also 35, in the garden of his house earlier this month and his father Ed Kelce, 73, has now revealed the athlete approached Taylor’s father, Scott Swift, 72, about a month ago to formally request permission to marry his daughter.

Ed said on Australian radio’s The Jimmy and Nath Show with Emma about the couple’s engagement, revealed by the pair on Instagram on 26 August: “I was talking to Scott Swift and Travis went to ask him for permission, and this was probably a month ago, and Scott said, ‘Well come on, when are you going to get this done?’”

Like Scott, Ed admitted he had been urging his son to move ahead with the proposal.

He added: “(Travis) didn’t come to me for advice so much as I went to him to tell him, you know, ‘To get this done’.

“Travis had these plans to do it the next weekend before flying out to Brazil (for a Kansas City Chiefs game against the Los Angeles Chargers on 5 September.)

“He was going to make a big production out of it some place, wanted to make it a bit special. I told him the same thing Scott told him, ‘Asking her is what’s going to make it special. It’s not where you do it. You know what I mean? You could do it on the side of the road’.

“Scott adds, ‘Just get it done. Don’t worry about any special date. Just, you’re ready, you got the ring, go do it’.”

In the end, Travis followed that advice.

Ed said: “They were going out to dinner and she was ready to go and he said, ‘Let’s go out in the garden on the patio and have a glass of wine before we go’.

“I think she knew something was up because as they walked out there, she could see, suddenly, there were a lot more flowers out there.”

Ed went on: “I’ve never seen him quite so happy. I think it’s wonderful. These are two young people madly in love with each other and I think this is great.”

The dad also revealed that Travis had shown him a picture of the engagement ring designed by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry in early July.

He told News 5’s John Kosich: “The family on both sides kind of assumed that this was going to happen because we’ve never seen our kids so happy.”

On social media, Taylor confirmed the engagement with a joint post with Travis.

She said: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” alongside photos from the garden proposal.

The post was set to her 2024 track So High School, widely believed to be about her relationship with Travis.

On August 27, a day after the engagement announcement, AE announced the upcoming launch of AE x Tru Kolors by Travis Kelce. Tru Kolors is Kelce’s sportswear and lifestyle brand, which he first launched in 2019. The collaboration with American Eagle will be a limited-edition collection available until September 24. Said Kelce in the press release, “I want everyone to feel like there is something for them in the collection, something they can feel good in and make their own. I’m excited for it to finally be out in the world.” The campaign stars some of Kelce’s fellow elite athletes: Anna Frey, Azzi Fudd, Drew Allar, Jeremiah Smith, Kiyan Anthony, and Suni Lee.

Kelce also posted an ad for the collection on his personal Instagram. The video shows Kelce parking a fancy green sports car and walking into a gym while wearing a deep V-neck cable-knit sweater. Especially with the stripe accents, Kelce’s pullover in this ad looks remarkably similar to a certain chunky cable-knit cardigan that Swift wore in her “Cardigan” music video. It wouldn’t be the craziest thing in the world to imagine that Kelce got some sartorial inspiration from his fiancée.

The couple posed in a dreamy flower garden for the announcement pictures. The first image showed Kelce down on one knee. This comes after the couple’s nearly two years of togetherness

Fans took to the comment section of Schefter’s post to pen down their thoughts about Schefter breaking the news to them. “Is this the first time ever an NFL player has married a woman and she’s the one who needs an ironclad prenup?She has to be worth easily 50x what he is,” a fan wrote.

“You’re better than this, Adam. This isn’t news people actually care about,” a user said.
